Background: Dual-person inspection in IVF laboratories cannot fully avoid mix-ups or embryo transfer errors, and data transcription or entry is time-consuming and redundant, often leading to delays in completing medical records. Methods: This study introduced a workflow-based RFID tag witnessing and real-time information entry platform for addressing these challenges. To assess its potential in reducing mix-ups, we conducted a simulation experiment in semen preparation to analyze its error correction rate. Additionally, we evaluated its impact on work efficiency, specifically in operation and data entry. Furthermore, we compared the cycle costs between paper labels and RFID tags. Finally, we retrospectively analyzed clinical outcomes of 20,424 oocyte retrieval cycles and 15,785 frozen embryo transfer cycles, which were divided into paper label and RFID tag groups. Results: The study revealed that comparing to paper labels, RFID tag witnessing corrected 100% of tag errors, didn't affect gamete/embryo operations, and notably shorten the time of entering data, but the cycle cost of RFID tags was significantly higher. However, no significant differences were observed in fertilization, embryo quality, blastocyst rates, clinical pregnancy, and live birth rates between two groups. Conclusions: RFID tag witnessing doesn't negatively impact gamete/embryo operation, embryo quality and pregnancy outcomes, but it potentially reduces the risk of mix-ups or errors. Despite highly increased cost, integrating RFID tag witnessing with real-time information entry can remarkably decrease the data entry time, substantially improving the work efficiency. Highlights from the article: In particular, the biogeography and ecology of (pseudo)cryptic diatom species are highly understudied and there are only a few data available on species limits, diversity and the timing of lineage splitting within species complexes. By challenging a synthetic diatom community, consisting of I Cylindrotheca closterium, Navicula phyllepta i and I Seminavis robusta i , with a natural bacterial inoculum, we verified if these species-specific effects on diatom fitness would also have implications for the outcome of competitive interactions between diatom species. Three cocco species and the respectively different life cycle phases were examined, I Calyptrosphaera i sp. (haploid), I Emiliania huxleyi i (both haploid and diploid life forms) and I Calcidiscus leptoporus i (both haploid and diploid life forms), all representing important members of the cocco group. Under key anthropogenic stressors, these species are replaced by persistent and smaller taxa, defined as turf-forming algae. The handling of information about periodic quality inspections, the maintenance of test equipment, and other instrument monitoring tasks are acknowledged as being among the high-priority tasks concerning equipment and material management in the medical laboratory. Lack of management and neglect of equipment can result in malfunctions that end up costing more time and resources. This paper proposes a design for a web-based information system that addresses the issues of managing expensive medical equipment (ME) and consumable medical materials (CMM) in laboratories. Looking to improve data administration in medical laboratories' day-to-day operations, this study aims to create a design for an information system with complete functionality and evaluate that system based on the user specifications. Initially, a list of more than 200 materials and 50 medical equipment records were collected and transferred into the system. Three independent laboratories utilized the ME/CMM information system we developed to evaluate its performance compared to their traditional systems. The t-test statistical analysis was used to assess feedback surveys. The findings show that the system provides users convenience and effectiveness in handling ME and CMM; thus, our system significantly reduces the workload of staff and inefficient costs. Simple Summary: Zebrafish have emerged as invaluable model organisms in biological research, offering a cost-effective alternative to rodents. However, the absence of standardized feeding protocols and nutritional requirements poses a significant challenge, potentially compromising the validity of experimental outcomes, particularly in preclinical studies. Our systematic review analyzes a plethora of studies focused on zebrafish feed intake, feeding regimes, and diet compositions. We uncover substantial variability in dietary parameters, notably in crude protein and lipid content. Despite this diversity, energy levels remain quite consistent across zebrafish diets. By using these insights, we propose a novel feeding protocol for zebrafish of different developmental stages, based on a formulated feed optimized for protein and energy content. This protocol might represent the first step towards standardizing zebrafish feeding practices, thereby enhancing experimental reproducibility and data reliability. Zebrafish are one of the most used animal models in biological research and a cost-effective alternative to rodents. Despite this, nutritional requirements and standardized feeding protocols have not yet been established for this species. This is important to avoid nutritional effects on experimental outcomes, and especially when zebrafish models are used in preclinical studies, as many diseases have nutritional confounding factors. A key aspect of zebrafish nutrition is related to feed intake, the amount of feed ingested by each fish daily. With the goal of standardizing feeding protocols among the zebrafish community, this paper systematically reviews the available data from 73 studies on zebrafish feed intake, feeding regimes (levels), and diet composition. Great variability was observed regarding diet composition, especially regarding crude protein (mean 44.98 ± 9.87%) and lipid content (9.91 ± 5.40%). Interestingly, the gross energy levels of the zebrafish diets were similar across the reviewed studies (20.39 ± 2.10 kilojoules/g of feed). In most of the reviewed papers, fish received a predetermined quantity of feed (feed supplied). The authors fed the fish according to the voluntary intake and then calculated feed intake (FI) in only 17 papers. From a quantitative point of view, FI was higher than when a fixed quantity (pre-defined) of feed was supplied. Also, the literature showed that many biotic and abiotic factors may affect zebrafish FI. Finally, based on the FI data gathered from the literature, a new feeding protocol is proposed. In summary, a daily feeding rate of 9–10% of body weight is proposed for larvae, whereas these values are equal to 6–8% for juveniles and 5% for adults when a dry feed with a proper protein and energy content is used. [Objective] With increasing scientific research activities in university laboratories, the laboratory safety management system must be urgently optimized to address various laboratory accidents. Owing to the complexity of risk factors and difficulty in detecting safety hazards in university laboratories, analyzing factors influencing laboratory accidents plays a crucial role in preventing accidents. Based on the fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method, this study examines the effects of different condition configurations on laboratory accidents to explore the complex causal relationship between laboratory accidents and various factors. [Methods] First, based on the "human-machine-environment-management," a safety management system is constructed to analyze the factors influencing university laboratory accidents, and six causal conditions are extracted from the management system to investigate the condition configuration of the accident. Second, data regarding 30 typical accidents in Chinese universities are collected. According to the collected accident data, fuzzy assignment is attributed to the condition and result variables of each accident. Finally, the collected laboratory case data are analyzed using the fsQCA3.0 software, and the analysis results are processed according to the fsQCA handling method. Moreover, six configuration types affecting the severity of laboratory accident consequences are obtained. [Results] The results of the study show the following: management condition deficiencies or instrument and equipment failures are the core conditions affecting the occurrence of accidents, and unsafe people's behavior and accident handling often appear as the marginal conditions of accidents. The following rules were established based on the configuration analysis results: the lack of management conditions may not be the sole factor leading to accidents, but as a core condition, it will considerably impact the consequences of accidents; equipment accidents have complex path combinations; and human factors are typically present as marginal conditions in configuration, combined with other factors to form the causative path of laboratory accidents. Lastly, suggestions on laboratory safety management are proposed according to the rules displayed by configuration types. [Conclusions] Through the configuration analysis of accidents in university laboratories using the fsQCA method, six configuration types of accidents are obtained, three rules are summarized, and some suggestions for laboratory safety management are provided in this paper. This paper tries to deduce the causal relationship of multiple and concurrent laboratory accidents in Chinese universities from the configuration perspective. In addition, the proposed method introduces a new causal explanation mechanism for the occurrence of laboratory accidents and a new perspective for laboratory safety management. Research data management (RDM) is needed to assist experimental advances and data collection in the chemical sciences. Many funders require RDM because experiments are often paid for by taxpayers and the resulting data should be deposited sustainably for posterity. However, paper notebooks are still common in laboratories and research data is often stored in proprietary and/or dead‐end file formats without experimental context. Data must mature beyond a mere supplement to a research paper. Electronic lab notebooks (ELN) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) allow researchers to manage data better and they simplify research and publication. Thus, an agreement is needed on minimum information standards for data handling to support structured approaches to data reporting. As digitalization becomes part of curricular teaching, future generations of digital native chemists will embrace RDM and ELN as an organic part of their research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to improve the user access success rate, cloud service success rate and experiment resource sharing and retrieval efficiency of network virtual experiment environment, a network virtual experiment environment architecture based on cloud computing was proposed. Through the CVM cloud virtual experiment platform and LIMP Laboratory integrated management platform, the system architecture of network virtual experiment environment is designed. Based on cloud computing, the access control algorithm of network virtual experiment environment is designed, and the resource sharing of network virtual experiment environment is realized by data mining technology. The experimental results show that the architecture proposed in this paper has a high success rate of user access and cloud service, and a good efficiency of experimental resource sharing and retrieval, indicating that the architecture proposed in this paper has a good application effect. Recently, following the rapid development of information technology and computer technology, various universities have higher and higher requirements for the management efficiency of their laboratories. Therefore, this paper studies the laboratory operation and maintenance management system (LOMMS) based on video surveillance, focusing on the detection and tracking of moving targets in the laboratory, and detecting possible abnormal behaviors. Compared with the traditional manual operation and maintenance management laboratory, the efficiency of LOMMS is significantly improved. At the same time, LOMSS video surveillance ensures the normal operation of the laboratory and the safety of the laboratory. This paper designs the complete scheme of LOMSS comprehensively with the video surveillance technology and the multisensor technology. First of all, through the detailed demand analysis of the university laboratory related staff, teachers, and students, the research objectives of LOMSS based on video surveillance are determined through repeated investigation with them. Secondly, through the demand analysis results, combined with the characteristics of LOMSS based on video surveillance, the system function is generally designed. Thirdly, based on the top-down principle, the overall function of the designed system is differentiated to obtain a more detailed functional map. At the same time, the database of LOMSS is designed to better store the data and other information in the system. The experimental results show that the temperature collected by the sensor is 10∼30°C, and the humidity is 35∼65%, which meets the environmental standards of the laboratory. This also shows that the test results of the sensor are normal, and also shows that the intelligent monitoring operation and maintenance management system (IMOMMS) of the laboratory meets the needs of the laboratory. Performance evaluation can promote the continuous improvement of the laboratories in a college. It is necessary to take into account the scientific evaluation method during the process of the performance evaluation. In this paper, a performance evaluation method based on the fusion of the decision tree and BP neural network is presented. In detail, the decision tree model is used to select performance evaluation indexes with high weight. The BP neural network was adopted aiming to reduce the impact of assessment prediction of classification by non-core factors. First, the data were pre-processed by trapezoidal membership function. Then, the decision tree was generated by the C4.5 algorithm to select the evaluation indexes with high weight. Then, the BP neural network was trained with as many samples as possible by evaluation indexes; it possesses experts' experience which can be used to predict the performance evaluation results. The method overcomes the shortages of the separate model, eliminates the disturbance of human factors and improves the accuracy of the evaluation. Experiments show that the model is feasible and effective in performance evaluation of college laboratories. The outcomes of this work can provide a scientific evaluation method for people such as researchers, college administrators and laboratory managers. With the increase of exploratory projects of comprehensive chemistry laboratory in universities, the types and quantity of hazardous chemicals are increasing. Due to the frequent occurrence of safety accidents in university laboratories, the safety management of hazardous chemicals has become an important concern of chemistry laboratories in recent years. According to the present situation for management and existing problems, this paper proposes a series of countermeasures, including three-level linkage responsibility and safety inspection system, strengthening the construction of laboratory management echelon, refining the process of purchase, store and use of hazardous chemicals, and strengthening the information construction of management platform. It effectively improves the safety responsibility consciousness of the teachers and students, and gradually reduces the hidden danger of laboratory safety, which provides a reference for the safety management mode of hazardous chemicals. Laboratory safety is of paramount importance in the safety management of universities, and the establishment of a laboratory safety accountability system is imperative. This paper provides an overview of the exploration and practice at a certain university, including the improvement of the laboratory safety accountability system, delineation of four categories of responsible entities, specification of the objects and methods of accountability, classification of accountable hazards and accidents, and the proposal of a severity grading standard applicable to the university context. These efforts, in practice, have strengthened the management system, fostered systematic awareness, and provided a model for the enhancement of laboratory safety accountability in other universities. Background: Achieving the targeted organizational goals through effective training can increase employee satisfaction. Since 2015, the Supranational Reference Laboratory Uganda (SRL Uganda) has trained National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratories (NTRLs) from 21 countries in a variety of areas that cover both technical and programmatic aspects pertinent to TB laboratories. The Laboratory Quality Management System (LQMS) under SRL coordinates actions intended to ensure sustained quality of the laboratory services offered by the National TB Reference Laboratories. In order for laboratory results to be helpful in a clinical or public health setting, they must be accurate, reliable, and timely. The LQMS course aims to provide learners with knowledge on how to attain and maintain this quality. Prior to this study, there was hardly any data available on the effectiveness of LQMS trainings provided by SRL Uganda; using Kirkpatrick model, which is popular among researchers for evaluating the efficacy of the training program, this paper seeks to establish the effectiveness of the LQMS training offered by the SRL Uganda. Method: We evaluated the effectiveness of LQMS training within the Uganda's SRL network for courses offered during the period 2017 and 2021 for participants from the Southern and East African sub-Saharan region. Results: In 2017 and 2021, respectively, test results from 10/17 and 9/17 showed overall post-test scores above 80%. Of the 18 labs evaluated, 14 showed improvement; of these, 7 labs were from the Eastern region and the other 7 were from Southern Africa; one facility in this region also maintained its accreditation. In the post-evaluation assessment, attendees of the LQMS course gave feedback of strongly agree and agree variety. Conclusion: More SRL Uganda network laboratories in the regions achieved a 5-star SLIPTA level rating and among these, 5 NTRLs got ISO 15189:2012 accredited by the end of 2021, while one maintained its accreditation status. This proves that the Laboratory Quality Management System training program was an effective tool in improving the quality of laboratory services, work practices, and processes. In today's big data context, the composition of virtual networks is becoming increasingly complex, so it is neither easy nor difficult to strengthen the control of network security issues. In a chemical analysis laboratory, sample detection via most analytical devices obtains raw data and processes it to validate data reports, including raw data filtering, editing, effectiveness evaluation, error correction, etc. This process is usually carried out manually by analysts. When the sample detection volume is large, the data processing involved becomes time-consuming and laborious, and manual errors may be introduced. In addition, analytical laboratories typically use a variety of analytical devices with different measurement principles, leading to the use of various heterogeneous control software systems from different vendors with different export data formats. Different formats introduce difficulties to laboratory automation. This paper proposes a modular data evaluation system that uses a global unified management and maintenance mode that can automatically filter data, evaluate quality, generate valid reports, and distribute reports. This modular software design concept allows the proposed system to be applied to different analytical devices; its integration into existing laboratory information management systems (LIMS) could maximise automation and improve the analysis and testing quality and efficiency in a chemical analysis laboratory, while meeting the analysis and testing requirements. Due to the lack of scientific performance evaluation methods and effective performance management, many tax authorities' performance evaluation and performance management are not perfect. The BP neural network has strong nonlinear mapping, self-learning, and self-adaptive abilities. It has been widely used in the field of numerical prediction and pattern recognition. Based on the exploration of neural network, this paper combines BP neural network with performance evaluation and applies BP neural network to the performance evaluation of university laboratories. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is mainly used to evaluate the performance of other fields. This paper selects key laboratories as the research object. The performance evaluation of university laboratories based on BP neural network is studied. The existing laboratory evaluation system is scientifically and reasonably revised, reasonable scientific methods are introduced, and a complete and scientific evaluation scheme suitable for the current evaluation requirements is explored. Context Many physicians monitor liver function tests during terbinafine therapy. Objectives To evaluate the symptoms of published cases of terbinafine-associated severe drug-induced liver injury ( DILI) to assess the utility of laboratory monitoring. Data sources We based our search on the LiverTox database of the National Institutes of Health, but we also searched both PubMed and Embase. In addition, we hand searched the references of the papers we found. Study selection All reports of patients with DILI on terbinafine and with reported clinical symptoms, or absence thereof, were evaluated. Data extraction Two independent reviewers (J.A. and O.N.K.) assessed articles for eligibility of inclusion, and collected and evaluated the data. Data synthesis Thirty-eight papers fulfilled the inclusion criteria, with reports of 69 symptomatic patients. The mean duration of terbinafine treatment until onset of symptoms was 30·2 days (range 5-84). Symptoms in order of frequency were jaundice, flu-like symptoms, dark urine and pruritus. Patients experienced symptoms for a mean and median of 14·8 and 16 days, respectively (range 0-42) until seeking medical attention. Conclusions Patients who had DILI were symptomatic, usually with jaundice, abdominal pain and general malaise, but also with severe pruritus. No asymptomatic patient was identified through laboratory screening. The timeline of DILI onset varies significantly, but most cases occur between 4 and 6 weeks. There was no time point at which monitoring was meaningful, and we do not recommend monitoring of liver function tests on terbinafine; however, patients should be advised to discontinue treatment and look for medical care when symptoms of DILI occur. Background: This paper presents a data-driven strategy for establishing the reportable interval in clinical laboratory testing. The reportable interval defines the range of laboratory result values beyond which reporting should be withheld. The lack of clear guidelines and methodology for determining the reportable interval has led to potential errors in reporting and patient risk. Methods: To address this gap, the study developed an integrated strategy that combines statistical analysis, expert review, and hypothetical outlier calculations. A large data set from an accredited clinical laboratory was utilized, analyzing over 124 million laboratory test records from 916 distinct tests. The Dixon test was applied to identify outliers and establish the highest and lowest non-outlier result values for each test, which were validated by clinical pathology experts. The methodology also included matching the reportable intervals with relevant Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) and Unified Code for Units of Measure (UCUM)-valid units for broader applicability. Results: Upon establishing the reportable interval for 135 routine laboratory tests (493 LOINC codes), we applied these to a primary care laboratory data set of 23 million records, demonstrating their efficacy with over 1% of result records identified as implausible. Conclusions: We developed and tested a data-driven strategy for establishing reportable intervals utilizing large electronic medical record (EMR) data sets. Implementing the established interval in clinical laboratory settings can improve autoverification systems, enhance data reliability, and reduce errors in patient care. In this paper is presented a pilot study for the investigation of the relevant factors within some experimental works carried out by students, after going through the learning unit "Movement and rest", which can be found in the chapter "Principles and laws in classical mechanics", from the physics curriculum for the ninth grade in Romania. Through the proposed work tasks, the design and the development of the experimental works carried out by students were highlighted. At the same time, special attention was paid to the results obtained by the students in investigating the relevant factors through specific physics methods, not only during the classes but also within the homework. The laboratory is an integral component of engineering education, resulting in a multitude of studies. Generally, the research focus is on the laboratory innovation, rather than learning itself. It is observed that empirical evidence is strongly built around student perceptions of their learning or experience via survey instruments; and in some cases, complimented with limited quantitative measures including assessments. With the laboratory being a multifaceted, multi-domain learning environment also covering the psychomotor and affective domains, such observations suggest that the empirical data being collected is providing an incomplete analysis. Therefore, this paper undertakes a systematic literature review exploring remote, simulation and traditional laboratory studies that explicitly include assessment analysis. Explored are the types of assessments used and assessment innovations. The study 1) confirms that assessments concentrate on the cognitive domain, underselling the learning being achieved; 2) Student survey instruments play an important role in measuring laboratory success; 3) Background information of the learning objectives are not clearly stated and/or not clearly linked to the associated assessment; 4) There are several research opportunities available to improve understanding of laboratory assessments. This paper proposes an algorithm for the effective scheduling of analytical chemistry tests in the context of quality control for pharmaceutical manufacturing. The problem is formulated as an extension of a dual resource constrained flexible job shop scheduling problem for the allocation of both machines and analysts resources for analytical laboratory work of real dimensions. The formulation is novel and custom made to fit real quality control laboratory. The novelty comes from allowing multiple analyst interventions for each machine allocation while minimising the total completion time, formulated as a mixed integer linear programming model. A three-level dynamic heuristic is proposed to solve the problem efficiently for instances representative of real world schedules. The CPLEX solver and a Tabu Search algorithm are used for comparison. Results show that the heuristic is competitive with the other strategies for medium-sized instances while outperforming them for large-sized instances. The dynamic heuristic runs in a very short amount of time, making it suitable for real world environments. In the laboratory medicine segment, benchmarking is the process in which institutions seek to compare with the macro environment (performance comparison and best practices with different laboratories) and improve their results based on quality indicators. The literature has highlighted the vulnerability of the pre-analytical phase in terms of risks and failures and the use of interlaboratory comparison as an opportunity to define a strategic performance benchmark aligned with the laboratory medicine sector, which has been a promising strategy to ensure continuous improvement, identifying within the pre-analytical process the critical activities to guarantee patient safety. In this context, this paper aims to present the three-year experience (2016–2018) of the Benchmarking Program and Laboratory Indicators – in Portuguese, Programa de Benchmarking e Indicadores Laboratoriais (PBIL) – with emphasis on pre-analytical indicators and their comparison against literature references and other programs of benchmarking in the area of laboratory medicine. PBIL is organized by the Brazilian Society of Clinical Pathology/Laboratory Medicine (SBPC/ML) in conjunction with Controllab and coordinated by a Brazilian group with representatives from different countries. The data presented in this paper involving the performance results of 180 laboratories with active participation. Results are presented in percentage (%, boxplot graphical in quartiles) and Sigma metric, recognized as the metric that best indicates the magnitude of failures in a process. The Pareto Chart was used to facilitate ordering and to identify the main errors in the pre-analytical phase. The Radar Chart was made available in this work for the purpose of comparing the results obtained in Sigma by the PBIL and IFCC Working Group Laboratory Errors and Patient Safety (WG LEPS). In the study period, just over 80% of the pre-analytical failures are related to Blood culture contamination (hospital-based and non-hospital-based laboratories), Recollect and Non-registered exams, with failure rates of 2.70, 1.05 and 0.63%, respectively. The performance of the PBIL program participants was in line with the literature references, and allowed to identify benchmarks in the laboratory medicine market, target of PBIL, with best practices were observed for some indicators. The results of the program demonstrate the importance of an ongoing program comparative performance-monitoring program for setting more robust goals and consequently reducing laboratory process failures. Even with these promising premises and results, the contextualized analysis of the program indicators, point to a still significant number of failures in our market, with possibilities for improvement in order aiming to ensure more robust and effective processes. In the recent 39 years, China colleges and universities have developed drastically. However, the colleges' laboratory accidents also rise significantly. This paper analyzed 197 China college accidents. The results show that the highest percentage of safety accidents are hazardous chemicals. Most of the injured parts of the 416 casualties are concentrated in the front upper body. The author finds that there is a certain correlation between the percentage of accidents and the number of students, as well as the number of scientific research activities. Based on the findings, the author points out: firstly, the college safety department should build a laboratory safety information sharing and analysis platform. The dynamic information includes hazardous chemicals, students, dangerous equipment, research experiments, etc. Secondly, China colleges and universities should build a laboratory safety education system with Chinese characteristics, incorporating laboratory safety education into the training of students. Finally, it is urgent to establish a professional team to fully implement the laboratory safety responsibility system; to establish a laboratory hierarchical and classified management system and to improve experiment project risk assessment and control; to carry out a special inspection on laboratory safety; to carry out standardized construction and to establish standardized process management procedures. Remote laboratories have been developed at many universities worldwide to provide students with access to apparatus and experiments via the Internet around the clock, thus giving partner institutions the opportunity to share resources, expensive equipment and specialized laboratories, whether within a single country or at regional and international levels. Universities usually implement learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle and Blackboard to enable students to interact, carry out learning activities and access remote labs. However, remote labs generate enormous amounts of data, which is stored, processed, analyzed, and accessed using centralized systems that lack transparency, traceability, security features, trustworthiness, and reliability. In addition, they are vulnerable to the single point of failure problem due to centralization. The application of blockchain technology in remote labs is proposed as a promising solution for future online learning as it combines a new pedagogical approach with various state-of-the-art technologies in an era that embraces Education 4.0 as the education norm. Furthermore, a novel blockchain-based framework for remote labs allows data streaming and transfer in a decentralized, transparent, traceable, reliable, secure, and trustful manner, where only authorized peers can join or access the network, thereby providing privacy of students' data files and reports. These years, the laboratory safety situation in Colleges and universities has improved, but the safety problem still needs to be improved. Based on the research basis of previous literature, this paper extracts the causes of laboratory accidents in Colleges and universities in the past six years, uses the grey system theory to carry out correlation analysis, sorts the correlation degree of influencing factors of laboratory safety behavior, and through empirical analysis, the organization system, safety education, laboratory environment management, foundation safety ,professional safety show a decreasing relationship in the influencing factors of laboratory safety. On the basis of this conclusion, the safety management path of related laboratories is proposed: Improve the laboratory organization and management system; carry out safety education regularly; strict professional operation process; orderly laboratory environment; effective basic safety management. This paper introduces a multidisciplinary energy management course redesigned to include experiential learning philosophy and partially flipped classroom concept to improve course delivery effectiveness. The course was originally proposed to address the surging demand in the local industries that benefit from understanding energy utilization and its economics. Instructors previously experienced difficulties in engaging students who had neglible energy management backgrounds. Therefore, the course materials were updated to include 10 new laboratory experiments, a real-world project, and an industry visit. In addition, the partially flipped classroom technique was adopted as an instructional strategy. Data analyses demonstrated that the employment of the two modifications resulted in more satisfied students with higher learning outcomes.
