This article explains that U.S. behavioral health advocates in four states have filed litigation arguing that mentally ill individuals should not be placed in nursing homes and would be better served in community-based facilities --and stirred up a controversy. Community placement might be appropriate for some individuals, say nursing home industry representatives, but such alternative facilities simply are not available, and nursing homes are capable of providing needed care.

In this article the authors discuss aspects of accidental ownership of U.S. newspapers by moneylenders, including JPMorgan Chase, Credit Suisse, and SunTrust Banks. They note that banks hold passive ownership of a failed company until the company rebounds during an economic recovery. A discussion on why newspapers can not wait for an economic recovery to save them is presented.

The author examines prospects for the survival of newspaper companies that are owned by U.S. banks. According to the author, banks are accidental owners of the newspapers because they have defaulted on their debt loads as borrowers. He points out that the key to their survival is for lenders to convert their debt into equity shares, thus easing the debt burden. He expects an inevitable collision between the banks and newspaper management. He notes that the lack of usable data on the business exacerbates the challenges of accidental ownership.
