In Brazil and Angola, most of the fields used Portuguese names that were connected to the marine environment, where both countries use Portuguese as its official and native language. Various Portuguese words are used to name fields including Jubarte or humpback whale, Cachalota or sperm whale, and Golfinho or dolphin.

The article discusses the inappropriateness of using the word reference as a verb. The verb is solidly established in the phrase cross reference, and it has some specialized applications of its own. But mostly it's legal and business jargon should be avoided by English-speakers. The term reference is used as a verb because its sloppiness makes it handy and it has become fashionable. However, the word reference is a poor substitute for the many words and phrases that do fit, like the governor invoked and the speaker quoted.

The article focuses on the dilemma faced by the indexer of what to do with scattered references. The topic appears on all these pages but the discussion is not continuous. The author has managed to chop it up by going off in many different directions. It is a shame that the majority of the population no longer has studied Latin. There are useful phrases that an indexer cannot use because of this loss. Some terms like "caveat" were used so frequently that people don't even think of them as Latin. It is just another "good ole" English word. It is possible that there will be more references yet to Australian gun violence, so another several can be added.
