The article cites a case study on gender and perceived severity of informal sanctions among convicted Driving-Under-the-Influence (DUI) offenders in Cass County, North Dakota. The notion of informal sanctions pertaining to gender and DUI was examined in the study. Data were collected from convicted violators of alcohol-related driving offenses required to participate in the Cass County First Offender DUI Program.
