La colonización de las esporas en tejidos, se evaluó mediante la exposición de ratas Wistar a la formulación y sus componentes, realizando diagnóstico veterinario (disección) y cultivo microbiológico. A method for comparing related nozzle designs possessing widths proportional to their frequencies over a broad frequency range is presented and utilized on asymmetric multiple Fourier nozzle designs. The underlying causes of the frequency dependent performance of the nozzle designs are explored and compared. Based on this knowledge, a better understanding of the operation of the nozzles is obtained. From this understanding, nozzle designs intended to operate at higher frequencies can be built in a more effective manner.

There are some interactions, some learning in the school environment that do not appear in relation with curriculum content, academic activities or teacher’s pedagogical intentions, but also involve types of languages, behaviors, attitudes and expressions that are not explicit in these activities, but they become visible in the convivial dynamics of the students. Estes modos particulares de relacionarse acontecem sem a mediação directa da instituiçãs, de grande importância na medida em que aparentemente são eles marcadores das relações de convívio, potencializadores ou inibidores da aprendizagem escolar e do ação para a construção da paz na escola., En las interacciones del ambiente escolar existen ciertos aprendizajes que no surgen necesariamente de los contenidos curriculares, actividades académicas o intenciones pedagógicas del maestro, sino que involucran formas de lenguaje, comportamientos, actitudes y expresiones no explícitas en esas gestiones, pero visibles en las dinámicas de convivencia de los estudiantes. Estas particulares formas de relacionarse suceden sin la mediación directa de la institución escolar, convirtiéndose en aprendizajes que revisten de gran importancia porque son marcadores de las relaciones de convivencia, potenciadores o inhibidores de los aprendizajes escolares y de los actos de paz en la escuela. The sign problem at nonzero chemical potential prohibits the use of importance sampling in lattice simulations. Since complex Langevin dynamics does not rely on importance sampling, it provides a potential solution. Recently it was shown that complex Langevin dynamics fails in the disordered phase in the case of the three-dimensional XY model, while it appears to work in the entire phase diagram in the case of the three-dimensional SU(3) spin model. Here we analyse this difference and argue that it is due to the presence of the nontrivial Haar measure in the SU(3) case, which has a stabilizing effect on the complexified dynamics. The three-dimensional SU(3) spin model is an effective Polyakov loop model for QCD at nonzero temperature and density. It suffers from a sign problem at nonzero chemical potential. We revisit this model using complex Langevin dynamics and assess in particular the justification of this approach, using analyticity at small mu^2 and the criteria for correctness developed recently. Finite-stepsize effects are discussed in some detail and a higher-order algorithm is employed to eliminate leading stepsize corrections. Our results strongly indicate that complex Langevin dynamics is reliable in this theory in both phases, including the critical region. Here, we first outline a formal justification of the method and identify points at which it might fail. From these we derive a condition that must be satisfied in order for correct results to be obtained. The complex Langevin method is a leading candidate for solving the so-called sign problem occurring in various physical situations. Its most vexing problem is that in some cases it produces `convergence to the wrong limit'. In the first part of the paper we go through the formal justification of the method, identify points at which it may fail and identify a necessary and sufficient criterion for correctness. This criterion would, however, require checking infinitely many identities, and therefore is somewhat academic. We propose instead a truncation to the check of a few identities; this still gives a necessary criterion, but a priori it is not clear whether it remains sufficient. In the second part we carry out a detailed study of two toy models: first we identify the reasons why in some cases the method fails, second we test the efficiency of the truncated criterion and find that it works perfectly at least in the toy models studied., Comment: 39 pages, 15 figures; typos corrected and reference added

The validity of the approach is probed at small chemical potential using imaginary chemical potential and continuity arguments, and at larger chemical potential by comparison with the world line method. While complex Langevin works for larger beta, we find that it fails for smaller beta, in the region of the phase diagram corresponding to the disordered phase. Diagnostic tests are developed to identify symptoms correlated with incorrect convergence. The three-dimensional XY model is studied at finite chemical potential using complex Langevin dynamics. An adaptive stepsize algorithm is implemented to cure the problem of runaway solutions that appears when using a constant stepsize. The validity of complex Langevin dynamics is tested against calculations using imaginary chemical potential and the world line formalism. While complex Langevin dynamics is found to work correctly at larger beta, it fails for smaller beta, in the region of the phase diagram corresponding to the disordered phase. Diagnostic tests are developed to identify behaviour symptomatic of incorrect convergence. Stochastic quantization offers the opportunity to simulate field theories with a complex action. In some theories unstable trajectories are prevalent when a constant stepsize is employed. We construct algorithms for generating an adaptive stepsize in complex Langevin simulations and find that unstable trajectories are completely eliminated. JPAs are step-by-step instructions for use in work areas and are also background training for psychological task preparedness. JPAs are intended for use in performance of tasks. They are based on the premise that anyone can perform technical tasks if specific instructions are given on the intellectual level of the performer. This report contains simplified engineering writing, techniques, and illustrating instructions.

Segmentation is an important step in the computer based analysis of images. This thesis addresses the segmentation of images of multiple channels of data. Such images are referred to as multichannel images. Examples of these are color images, where the channels represent color components, and remote sensing data, where the channels may represent signals from various visible and infrared frequency bands. This thesis describes and demonstrates how segmentation of multichannel images into homogeneous regions can be accomplished using linear predictive filtering. Results are given for some synthetically generated color images of two textures.

The major purpose of this study was to determine whether or not any significant differences existed between the perceptions of Hispanic and White students in regard to the college environment at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The secondary purpose of this study was to determine if any significant differences existed between the two groups on the seven environmental scales in relation to the independent variables of ethnicity, sex, and grade level. The instrument used in this study was the College and University Environmental Scales (CUES) developed by Pace. This instrument measures the college environment on the dimensions of Practicality, Community, Awareness, Propriety, Scholarship, Campus Morale, and Quality of Teaching/Faculty-Student Relationships. The population from which the sample for the study was selected included upper classmen from three major colleges at the University of Nebraska at Omaha: Arts and Science, Business Administration, and Public Affairs and Community Service. The White student population was administered the CUES in upper-level classes to insure inclusion of upper classmen only. The Hispanic students eligible to participate (upper classmen) were sent letters requesting them to come to the testing center to complete the questionnaire. A follow-up letter was also sent, which resulted in obtaining a 60 percent return of Hispanic questionnaires. Analysis excluded all students who were not White or Hispanic. The three-way analysis of variance was used to compare responses on the seven scales of the CUES. The findings of the study revealed that (1) Hispanics differed from Whites in a positive direction in their perceptions of the UNO environment; and (2) when the independent variables of sex, ethnicity, and grade level were introduced, significant differences existed.

The literature review conducted for this study indicates many persons believe businesses should be socially responsive to society, and that a systematic assessment of this responsiveness is desirable. But if Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) do not feel this is true, or if they feel accountants should not be involved, then it may be to the profession's benefit not to devote additional time and energy to this topic. With this in mind, the study had two primary objectives: (1) to determine if CPAs feel a need exists for a systematic assessment and reporting of business' involvement in social activities, and (2) to determine the role, if any, CPAs believe the accounting profession should assume in this assessment. To obtain the opinions of the CPAs, questionnaires were mailed to 970 members whose names were selected randomly from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' official List of Members. Major findings and implications of the research indicate that: (1) CPAs seem more comfortable with Social Responsibility Accounting for Businesses (SRAFB) in 1982 compared with ther feelings in the mid-1970's. Even though they feel many serious problems remain, the survey indicates CPAs do not think SRAFB should be a dead issue. (2) CPAs have mixed feelings about the role accountants should have in SRAFB. Many believe management accountants should be involved but that public accountants should not be. External reporting of social information in general, and independent attestation in particular, are not favored by CPAs. Four of five CPAs maintain SRAFB is not relevant for users of financial statements. (3) CPAs believe businesses should have a degree of social responsibility that goes beyond legal requirements. They generally feel this responsibility is personal to each business and should not be regulated by "outsiders" such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Accounting Standards Board. This study examines the database application programming environment presented by the Applications-By-Forms (ABF) subsytem of the INGRES database managenent system (DBMS). The development of a bibliographical search and report application program is discussed. The operation of the application program is described. Positive and negative aspects of the ABF programming environment are examined. The use of INGRES Query Language (QUEL) and Operation Specification Language (OSL) are also discussed.

The purpose of this study was to gain insight into the phenomenon of teacher burnout. The study concentrated on three specific areas: teachers' needs, work environment, and coping strategies. In order to collect the data, the investigator conducted an exploratory study of male high school teachers between the ages of 35 and 45 with at least ten years of teaching experience in schools in northern New Jersey. The subjects of the study included seven burned-out teachers and 26 non-burned-out teachers as they were identified on Freudenberger's Burn-Out Scale and Pines' Tedium Measure. Both groups of teachers were interviewed individually by the investigator utilizing closed- and open-ended questions from an interview guide developed by the investigtor. The seven burned-out teachers achievement, recognition, and advancement needs were met to a below-average degree in their job which caused them emotional and physical problems related to stress. They did not possess coping strategies that could help them deal with the burnout that had consumed their lives. On the other hand, the 26 non-burned-out teachers did not experience problems with stress by being aware of the limitations of their job, by separating work from home, and by utilizing personal coping strategies. They learned to set realistic and personally-oriented goals, form staff-support systems, incorporate variety in class, and participate in outside activities. Furthermore, they received positive organizational intervention such as competent and caring supervisors and understanding administrators. It was the investigator's conclusion that teacher burnout was an individual matter that could be enhanced or decreased by the organization. Nevertheless, it was the teacher's responsibility to develop coping strategies that could be advantageous to him. The purpose of this study was to present a historical perspective and legal basis for court-ordered busing to desegregate the public schools. The study examined pertinent Supreme Court decisions which dealt with de jure and de facto segregated school systems as well as the possibility of a limited return to neighborhood schools. Emphasis was placed on the evolution of decisions of the United States Supreme Court as those decisions mirrored attitudinal and societal changes in America. The findings of this study were: (1) the United States Supreme Court has consistently ruled against any school system in which de jure segregation has been found to exist, (2) in de facto segregation cases the Supreme Court required some busing as a punitive remedy, (3) if the Court found that an "intent" to segregate was present in a school system the "extent" of the remedy imposed by the Court often included extensive busing, (4) if a school system has been declared unitary its only responsibility is then to avoid illegal segregation, and (5) there is a trend for the Supreme Court to allow a return to neighborhood schools under proper circumstances.

Results obtained from participation in previous atomic tests proved conclusively that nuclear detonations of 3 KT and higher could be detected and displayed on the indicators of standard X band radar bombing systems and Ku-band radar systems. The evaluation was conducted to determine the adequacy of new drafting equipment now commercially available for use in producing axonometric drawings. Also the feasibility of beginning to implement the wide usage of the axonometric concept for engineering drawings and Transportation Packaging Orders (TPOs) within the Air Force was investigated. As the result of this study, a drafting system for preparing engineering drawings and TPOs has emerged. The dimensioning system used was adapted from MIL-STD-100 and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Manual +14.5.
