BACKGROUND: There is a high prevalence of obesity in ponies and pleasure horses. This may be associated with equine metabolic syndrome and an increased risk of laminitis. Body condition scoring (BCS) systems are widely used but are subjective and not very sensitive. OBJECTIVES: To derive a body condition index (BCI), based on objective morphometric measurements, that correlates with % body fat. STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study. METHODS: Morphometric measurements were obtained from 21 ponies and horses in obese and moderate body condition. Percentage body fat was determined using the deuterium dilution method and the BCI was derived to give the optimal correlation with body fat, applying appropriate weightings. The index was then validated by assessing inter-observer variation and correlation with % body fat in a separate population of Welsh ponies; and finally, the correlation between BCI and BCS was evaluated in larger populations from studies undertaken in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. RESULTS: The BCI correlated well with adiposity in the ponies and horses, giving a Pearson r value of 0.74 (P < 0.001); however, it was found to slightly overestimate the % body fat in leaner animals and underestimate in more obese animals. In field studies, the correlation between BCI and BCS varied particularly in Shetlands and miniature ponies, presumably due to differences in body shape. MAIN LIMITATIONS: Further work may be required to adapt the BCI to a method that is more applicable for Shetlands and miniature ponies. CONCLUSIONS: This BCI was able to provide an index of adiposity which compared favourably with condition scoring in terms of accuracy of estimating adiposity; and was more consistent and repeatable when used by inexperienced assessors. Therefore, this may be a useful tool for assessing adiposity; and may be more sensitive than condition scoring for tracking weight gain or weight loss in individual animals.

Guidance and counseling teacher face challenges in preparing service materials, thus necessitating the development of media that are easy for them to operate. One strategy to enhance the effectiveness of the learning process is through the use of interactive media, such as PowerPoint. This application is highly effective for presenting materials because it can integrate text, images, colors, layouts, and animations tailored to students' needs. The purpose of this study is to develop valid and reliable media to support teachers in delivering content in accordance with needs analysis results. This research employs a research and development (R&D) method following the ADDIE model, which includes five phases: 1) Analysis, 2) Design, 3) Development, 4) Implementation, and 5) Evaluation. Data were collected through feasibility tests by media experts and practicality tests involving teachers in a limited trial. The validity test by media experts showed a result of 75%, while the practicality trial by six teachers showed an effectiveness of 91.6%. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode riset dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan mengikuti model ADDIE, yang mencakup lima fase: 1) Analisis, 2) Desain, 3) Pengembangan, 4) Implementasi, 5) Evaluasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui uji kelayakan oleh ahli media dan uji kepraktisan yang melibatkan guru dalam uji coba terbatas. Uji validitas oleh ahli media menunjukkan hasil 75%, sedangkan uji coba kepraktisan oleh enam guru menunjukkan efektivitas sebesar 91,6%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, media yang dikembangkan terbukti sangat efektif dan layak digunakan di sekolah.

The relation between nuclear star clusters (NSCs) and the growth of the central SMBHs, as well as their connection to the properties of the host galaxies, is crucial for understanding the evolution of galaxies. Recent observations have revealed that about 10 per cent of nucleated galaxies host hybrid nuclei, consisting of both NSCs and accreting SMBHs that power active galactic nuclei (AGN). Motivated by the potential of the recently published multi-wavelength data sets from LeMMINGs survey, here we present the most thorough investigation to date of the incidence of hybrid nuclei in a large sample of 100 nearby nucleated galaxies (10 E, 25 S0, 63 S, and 2 Irr), covering a wide range in stellar mass (M∗,gal∼108.7−1012 Msun). We identify the nuclei and derive their properties by performing detailed 1D and 2D multi-component decompositions of the optical and near-infrared HST stellar light distributions of the galaxies using Sérsic and core-Sérsic models. Our AGN diagnostics are based on homogeneously derived nuclear 1.5 GHz e-MERLIN radio, Chandra X-ray (0.3--10 keV) and optical emission-line data. We determine the nucleation fraction (fnuc) as the relative incidence of nuclei across the LeMMINGs HST sample and find fnuc= 100/149 (= 67 ± 7 per cent), confirming previous work, with a peak value of 49/56~(= 88±13 per cent) at bulge masses M∗,bulge∼109.4- 1010.8 Msun. We identify 30 nucleated LeMMINGs galaxies that are optically active, radio-detected and X-ray luminous (LX>1039 erg s−1). This indicates that our nucleated sample has a lower limit ∼ 30 per cent occupancy of hybrid nuclei, which is a function of M∗,bulge and M∗,gal. We find that hybrid nuclei have a number density of (1.5±0.4)×10−5 Mpc−3.

Etnomedisin merupakan suatu tahapan penting dalam menskrining, memilih dan mengembangkan obat baru yang berasal dari tumbuhan. Penggunaan obat tradisional dari berbagai kelompok etnis, menjaga dan merahasiakan pengetahuan pengobatannya karena mereka meyakini bahwa membagi pengetahuannya kepada orang lain akan mengakibatkan kehilangan kemampuan penyembuhannya. Mengeksplorasi pengetahuan lokal etnomedisin dan tumbuhan obat di Desa  Matabu, Kabupaten Barito Timur serta melestarikan penggunaan obat tradisional secara turun temurun dari nenek moyang. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif bersifat deskriftif dan Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu purposive sampling. Tujuan digunakannya purposive sampling adalah untuk menentukan sampel sebuah penelitian yang memang memerlukan kriteria-kriteria tertentu agar sampel yang diambil sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian. Hasil penelitian mengetahui macam-macam penyakit yang dapat mereka obati dengan menggunakan tumbuhan penyakit yang paling sering masyarakat dan batrra pakai yaitu untuk penyakit demam,masuk angin dan diare, Dari 120 responden ditemukan ramuan tanaman obat untuk mengobati penyakit sebanyak 53 cara pemakaian tumbuhan obat ada yang diminum,ditempelkan,direbus dan dipijat. Cara pemakaian tumbuhan obat yang paling populer atau sering digunakan dalam pengobatan yaitu dengan cara direbus/diminum dengan hasil presentasi sitasi terbesar yaitu 80,7%. Penelitian mendapatkan 53 spesies tumbuhan   obat dari   38   famili. Empat penyakit terbesar yang paling sering diobati menggunakan tumbuhan obat di masyarakat Desa Matabu adalah yaitu demam, Maag, batuk dan hipertensi. Pemakaian tumbuhan obat yang paling disukai adalah dengan diminum. Bagian tumbuhan yang paling banyak digunakan yaitu bagian daun. Tumbuhan obat berdasarkan famili yang paling banyak digunakan yaitu Zingiberaceae dan Myrtaceae.

Increasing the deployment of Renewable Energy Resources (RES) , along with innovations in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), would allow prosumers to engage in the energy market and trade their excess energy with each other and with the main grid. To ensure an efficient and safe operation of energy trading, the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) energy trading approach has emerged as a viable paradigm to provide the necessary flexibility and coordinate the energy sharing between a pair of prosumers. The P2P approach is based on the concept of decentralized energy trading between prosumers (i.e., production capabilities or energy consumers). However, security protection and real-time transaction issues in the P2P market present serious challenges. In this paper, we propose a decentralized P2P energy trading approach for the energy market with high penetration of RE. First, the P2P energy market platform proposed coordinating the energy trading between energy providers and consumers to maximize their social welfare. A distributed algorithm is applied to solve the market-clearing problem based on the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM). In this way, the computational complexity can be reduced. Furthermore, a P2P Manager (P2PM) utility is introduced as an entity to solve the synchronization problem between peers during the market clearing. Finally, through a real-time application using Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL), the effectiveness of the proposed P2PM is verified in terms of synchronizing the market participants and improving the power transaction.

Students are expected to be able to manage their money in the digital age, as they are millennials and need to be prepared for ever-accelerating technological developments.This research investigates whether students understand financial behavior, tests and analyzes the influence of financial literacy, financial technology, and social environment on financial behavior, and tests and analyzes the correlation between financial behavior and each variable. It was carried out for the purpose of analysis. The population and sample of this study are current accounting students in several universities in Batam city, such as Universitas Batam, Universitas Internasional Batam, Universitas Riau Kepualauan, and others. The number of respondents for this survey was 300. Purposive sampling technique and Likert scale were used for the sample. Data were processed using the statistical program SPSS v29. This research chose to use quantitative research methods. The research results show that financial literacy and financial technology partially have a significant and positive influence on financial behavior, but do not have a significant influence on the social environment on financial behavior. Undefined behavior in C often causes devastating security vulnerabilities. One practical mitigation is compartmentalization, which allows developers to structure large programs into mutually distrustful compartments with clearly specified privileges and interactions. In this paper we introduce SECOMP, a compiler for compartmentalized C code that comes with machine-checked proofs guaranteeing that the scope of undefined behavior is restricted to the compartments that encounter it and become dynamically compromised. These guarantees are formalized as the preservation of safety properties against adversarial contexts, a secure compilation criterion similar to full abstraction, and this is the first time such a strong criterion is proven for a mainstream programming language. To achieve this we extend the languages of the CompCert verified C compiler with isolated compartments that can only interact via procedure calls and returns, as specified by cross-compartment interfaces. We adapt the passes and optimizations of CompCert as well as their correctness proofs to this compartment-aware setting. We use high-resolution HST imaging and e-MERLIN 1.5-GHz observations of galaxy cores from the LeMMINGs survey to investigate the relation between optical structural properties and nuclear radio emission for a large sample of galaxies. We perform accurate, multi-component decompositions of new surface brightness profiles extracted from HST images for 163 LeMMINGs galaxies and fit up to six galaxy components (e.g., bulges, discs, AGN, bars, rings, spiral arms, and nuclear star clusters) simultaneously with Sérsic and/or core-Sérsic models. By adding such decomposition data for 10 LeMMINGs galaxies from our past work, the final sample of 173 nearby galaxies (102 Ss, 42 S0s, 23 Es plus 6 Irr) with bulge stellar mass (typically) M_*, bulge ~ 10^6-10^12.5 M_sun, encompasses all optical spectral classes (LINER, Seyfert, ALG and H II). We show that the bulge mass can be significantly overestimated in many galaxies when components such as bars, rings and spirals are not included in the fits. We additionally implement a Monte Carlo method to determine errors on bulge, disc and other fitted structural parameters. Moving (in the opposite direction) across the Hubble sequence, i.e., from the irregular to elliptical galaxies, we confirm that bulges become larger, more prominent and round. Such bulge dominance is associated with a brighter radio core luminosity. We also find that the radio detection fraction increases with bulge mass. At M_*,bulge > 10^11 M_sun, the radio detection fraction is 77%, declining to 24% for M_bulge < 10^10 M_sun. Furthermore, we observe core-Sérsic bulges tend to be systematically round and to possess high radio core luminosities and boxy-distorted or pure elliptical isophotes.

Multiwavelength studies indicate that nuclear activity and bulge properties are closely related, but the details remain unclear. To study this further, we combine Hubble Space Telescope bulge structural and photometric properties with 1.5 GHz, e-MERLIN nuclear radio continuum data from the LeMMINGs survey for a large sample of 173 `active' galaxies (LINERs and Seyferts) and `inactive' galaxies (H IIs and absorption line galaxies, ALGs). Dividing our sample into active and inactive, they define distinct (radio core luminosity)−(bulge mass), L_R,core-M_*,bulge, relations, with a mass turnover at M_*, bulge ~ 10^(9.8 +- 0.3) M_sun (supermassive black hole mass M_BH ~ 10^(6.8 +- 0.3) M_sun), which marks the transition from AGN-dominated nuclear radio emission in more massive bulges to that mainly driven by stellar processes in low-mass bulges. None of our 10/173 bulgeless galaxies host an AGN. The AGN fraction increases with increasing M_*, bulge such that f_optical_AGN ∝ M_*,bulge^(0.24 +- 0.06) and f_radio_AGN ∝ M_*,bulge^(0.24 +- 0.05). Between M_*,bulge ~ 10^8.5 and 10^11.3 M_sun, f_optical_AGN steadily rises from 15 +- 4 to 80 +- 5 per cent. We find that at fixed bulge mass, the radio loudness, nuclear radio activity and the (optical and radio) AGN fraction exhibit no dependence on environment. Radio-loud hosts preferentially possess an early-type morphology than radio-quiet hosts, the two types are however indistinguishable in terms of bulge Sérsic index and ellipticity, while results on the bulge inner logarithmic profile slope are inconclusive. We finally discuss the importance of bulge mass in determining the AGN triggering processes, including potential implications for the nuclear radio emission in nearby galaxies.

We have analysed a new high-resolution e-MERLIN 1.5 GHz radio continuum map together with HST and SDSS imaging of NGC 5322, an elliptical galaxy hosting radio jets, aiming to understand the galaxy’s central structure and its connection to the nuclear activity. We decomposed the composite HST + SDSS surface brightness profile of the galaxy into an inner stellar disc, a spheroid, and an outer stellar halo. Past works showed that this embedded disc counter-rotates rapidly with respect to the spheroid. The HST images reveal an edge-on nuclear dust disc across the centre, aligned along the major-axis of the galaxy and nearly perpendicular to the radio jets. After careful masking of this dust disc, we find a central stellar mass deficit Mdef in the spheroid, scoured by SMBH binaries with final mass MBH such that Mdef/MBH ∼ 1.3–3.4. We propose a three-phase formation scenario for NGC 5322, where a few (2–7) ‘dry’ major mergers involving SMBHs built the spheroid with a depleted core. The cannibalism of a gas-rich satellite subsequently creates the faint counter-rotating disc and funnels gaseous material directly on to the AGN, powering the radio core with a brightness temperature of TB, core ∼ 4.5 × 107 K and the low-power radio jets (Pjets ∼ 7.04 × 1020 W Hz−1), which extend ∼1.6 kpc. The outer halo can later grow via minor mergers and the accretion of tidal debris. Belonging is a fundamental human need, and one that is linked to many of the most complex challenges of our time.Without a sense of belonging, individuals and communities suffer; with it, they thrive. Yet, because belonging is notoriously difficult to measure, it is often ignored in efforts to address the deep fractures in our societies.One purpose of this report is to call attention to belonging as a factor that matters deeply for leaders and stakeholders across diverse sectors. We make the case for including belonging in the design and implementation of programs and policies across all areas of life in the United States. A second purpose is to propose a nuanced new tool for measuring belonging—the Belonging Barometer—that is robust, accessible, and readily deployable in the service of efforts to advance the common good. As with any new tool, it is our hope that the Belonging Barometer can and should be refined and improved upon over time. We offer it up to changemakers across the world and welcome feedback and collaboration.In this report, we review the concept of belonging and introduce a new measure, the Belonging Barometer. We then describe initial findings based on a nationally representative survey regarding the relationship between the Belonging Barometer and health, democracy, and intergroup dynamics in the US. Next, we report on the state of belonging across five life settings: family, friends, workplace, local community, and the nation. Lastly, we briefly discuss emerging themes and considerations for designing belonging interventions.

The government has the authority to control and guarantee the availability of natural resources for the benefit of society. Within its authority, the government has regulated and provided guidelines for the exploitation of natural resources in the mining sector in Indonesia through Law No. 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining (Minerba Constitution). This research aims to determine criminal liability and criminal law enforcement of the mining of uruk soil without a Mining Business License (IUP). The method used in this research is normative legal research. The results showed that several conditions must be filled for a person or legal entity to be sentenced, including the existence of a criminal act committed, the ability to be responsible and the element of error of intentionality or negligence. As stipulated in article 158 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal mining. Law enforcement by the police of the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of East Java Regional Police, through investigation, has succeeded in finding suspects on behalf of supono or supo. Based on witness statements, expert statements, suspect statements, and evidences, it have fulfilled the criminal elements of mining uruk and sand land without being equipped with a Mining Business License (IUP) as stipulated in article 158 of RI Law number 4/2009 concerning Mineral and Coal mining.

Salah satu program pemerintah untuk membantu masyarakat kurang mampu adalah pembagian sembako gratis. Permasalahannya adalah pada saat proses pembagian sembako terkadang terdapat beberapa permasalahan yaitu sembako yang dibagikan tidak tepat sasaran, masih terdapat masyarakat yang tidak termasuk dalam kategori miskin tetapi meminta jatah sembako gratis. Oleh karena itu untuk menangani masalah tersebut maka dibutuhkan suatu alat yang dapat memudahkan bagi panitia atau pemerintah dapat melakukan pencatatan secara otomatis. Penelitian ini merancang sebuah alat yang dapat mencatat warga yang sudah menerima sembako dengan sistem RFID (Radio Frequency Identifation) yang terkoneksi ke microsoft excel berbasis arduino. Salah satu contoh pemanfaatan dari sistem RFID adalah kartu tanda penduduk (e-KTP). Dengan memanfaatkan sistem ini masyarakat yang membutuhkan sembako dapat mengambilnya secara mandiri hanya dengan membawa e-KTP yang telah didaftarkan oleh RT (Rukun Tetangga) setempat tanpa harus mengantri dan berdesakan. Warga akan menempelkan e-KTP dan status warga tersebut akan di tampilkan pada LCD berhak atau tidak berhak menerima sembako. Pembagian sembako ini pasti tepat sasaran karena hanya e-KTP masyarakat yang kurang mampu saja yang dapat mengakses alat tersebut. [EN] Since 1963, the International Heat Flow Commission has been fostering the compilation of the Global Heat Flow Database to provide reliable heat-flow data. Over time, techniques and methodologies evolved, calling for a reorganization of the database structure and for a reassessment of stored heat-flow data. Here, we provide the results of a collaborative, community-driven approach to set-up a new, quality-approved global heat-flow database. We present background information on how heat-flow is determined and how this important thermal parameter could be systematically evaluated. The latter requires appropriate documentation of metadata to allow the application of a consistent evaluation scheme. The knowledge of basic data (name and coordinates of the site, depth range of temperature measurements, etc.), details on temperature and thermal-conductivity data and possible perturbing effects need to be given. The proposed heat-flow quality evaluation scheme can discriminate between different quality aspects affecting heat flow: numerical uncertainties, methodological uncertainties, and environmental effects. The resulting quality codes allow the evaluation of every stored heat-flow data entry. If mandatory basic data are missing, the entry is marked accordingly. In cases where more than one heat-flow determination is presented for one specific site, and all of them are considered for the site, the poorest evaluation score is inherited to the site level. The required data and the proposed scheme are presented in this paper. Due to the requirements of the newly developed evaluation scheme, the database structure as presented in 2021 has been updated and is available in the appendix of this paper. The new quality scheme will allow a comprehensible evaluation of the stored heat-flow data for the first time.

Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar digital geografi flipbook pada materi dinamika hidrosfer dengan menggunakan aplikasi flip PDF professional. Rancangan penelitian yang dilakukan menggunakan model ADDIE yang ditekankan pada tahap ADD (Analysis Design and Development). Hasil validasi bahan ajar menunjukkan bahan ajar ini mendapat tingkat kelayakan sebesar 92% dari segi materi 93% dari segi bahan ajar dan 73% dari segi bahasa. Hasil tersebut menjadikan bahan ajar ini memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 86% dengan predikat sangat baik. Sementara itu hasil uji coba terhadap siswa menunjukkan bahan ajar ini dari segi materi tampilan dan bahasa memperoleh rata-rata hasil penilaian sebesar 94% yang tergolong ke dalam predikat sangat baik. Komponen unggulan yang meliputi rubrik Hydro-Explore Hydro-Act dan multimedia bahan ajar juga mendapat kelayakan yang sangat baik. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa bahan ajar digital geografi flipbook telah layak untuk digunakan dan diimplementasikan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran.

In the volumes that compile the history of Concepción and its surrounding areas, the African and/or Afro-descendant presence during colonial times is usually reduced to trivial events. Unlike what happens in other Chilean regions, no systematic studies mention the permanence of this population in the study area during the Spanish domination. Hence, the local sociocultural imaginary does not recognize the historical depth of their presence and relevance. This research aims to carry out the first systematic compilation exercise regarding the presence of Afro-descendants in Concepcion and its surrounding areas, registering their mentions in currently available primary and secondary sources. As a result, we were able to identify a continued presence of Afro-descendants between the 16th and 19th centuries. Finally, we discuss their estrangement in historical volumes and the development of a paradigm that has made them historically invisible as part of the current social fabric in Concepcion., En los volúmenes que compilan la historia de Concepción y sus zonas aledañas, la presencia de africanos y/o afrodescendientes durante la colonia es usualmente reducida a eventos anecdóticos. A diferencia de lo que ocurre en otras regiones de Chile, no existen estudios sistemáticos que mencionen la permanencia de esta población en el área de estudio durante la dominación española. Así, el imaginario sociocultural local no reconoce la profundidad histórica de su presencia y relevancia. Esta investigación desarrolla el primer ejercicio compilatorio sistemático sobre la presencia de los afrodescendientes en Concepción y sus áreas aledañas, registrando sus menciones en fuentes primarias y secundarias disponibles actualmente. Como resultado, pudimos identificar una presencia continua de afrodescendientes entre el siglo XVI y el siglo XIX. Finalmente, discutimos su extrañamiento en los volúmenes históricos y el desarrollo de un paradigma que los ha hecho históricamente invisibles y los ha negado como parte del tejido social actual en Concepción.

Medical schools in the United States are described in terms of their curricula, students, faculty, finances, teaching hospitals, and clinics. The data are derived largely from responses to a questionnaire and from the AAMC student information system. Medical schools are examined by groups of institutions that share some similarity with each other in institutional characteristics: private/public, or established/developing. The exploration in this study is referred to the Integrated Training Competency Model through Work-Based Learning (WBL). This exploratory study utilized structured interview instruments that have been developed by the researcher. This research involved 7 respondents consisting of 4 automotive practitioners and 3 academicians in the automotive field to explore and determine domains and elements. The findings of the study show the percentage of agreement among the 7 experts. Domains and elements of Integrated Training Competence (ITC) through Work-Based Learning (WBL) were investigated in this study. It is found that there are three (3) main domains for the model namely: (1) Management / manager performance; (2) Cultural and (3) WBL learning quality. Meanwhile, for the quality of learning outcomes, there are four (4) main domains namely: (1) Mastery of Speed; (2) Student’s Professional Attitude; (3) Mental Readiness for Work, and (4) Freedom Independence. These findings used single round semi structured interview based on the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) technical approach. The results of this exploration will be used to develop an Integrated Training Competency model through Work-Based Learning (WBL).

Osteoarthritis affects over 300 million people worldwide. Here, we conduct a genome-wide association study meta-analysis across 826,690 individuals (177,517 with osteoarthritis) and identify 100 independently associated risk variants across 11 osteoarthritis phenotypes, 52 of which have not been associated with the disease before. We report thumb and spine osteoarthritis risk variants and identify differences in genetic effects between weight-bearing and non-weight-bearing joints. We identify sex-specific and early age-at-onset osteoarthritis risk loci. We integrate functional genomics data from primary patient tissues (including articular cartilage, subchondral bone, and osteophytic cartilage) and identify high-confidence effector genes. We provide evidence for genetic correlation with phenotypes related to pain, the main disease symptom, and identify likely causal genes linked to neuronal processes. Our results provide insights into key molecular players in disease processes and highlight attractive drug targets to accelerate translation.

All 280 of the statistically-complete Palomar sample of nearby (<120 Mpc) galaxies dec > 20 degrees have been observed at 1.5 GHz as part of the LeMMINGs e-MERLIN legacy survey. Here, we present Chandra X-ray observations of the nuclei of 213 of these galaxies, including a statistically-complete sub-set of 113 galaxies in the declination range 40 degrees to 65 degrees. We observed galaxies of all optical spectral types, including 'active' galaxies (e.g., LINERs and Seyferts) and 'inactive' galaxies like HII galaxies and absorption line galaxies (ALG). The X-ray flux limit of our survey is 1.65$\times$10$^{-14}$~erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ (0.3$-$10 keV). We detect X-ray emission coincident within 2-arcsec of the nucleus in 150/213 galaxies, including 13/14 Seyferts, 68/77 LINERs, 13/22 ALGs and 56/100 HII galaxies, but cannot completely rule out contamination from non-AGN processes in sources with nuclear luminosities <10$^{39}$ erg s$^{-1}$. We construct an X-ray Luminosity function (XLF) and find that the local galaxy XLF, when including all AGN types, can be represented as a single power-law of slope $-0.54 \pm 0.06$. The Eddington ratio of the Seyferts is usually 2-4 decades higher than that of the LINERs, ALGs and HII galaxies, which are mostly detected with Eddington ratios <10$^{-3}$. Using [O III] line measurements and BH masses from the literature, we show that LINERs, HII galaxies and ALGs follow similar correlations to low luminosities, suggesting that some 'inactive' galaxies may harbour AGN., Comment: 20 pages + 42 pages of online supplementary material 15 figures, 7 tables (additional 150 figures and 6 tables in online supplementary material) Accepted for publication in MNRAS, 15th November 2021

What determines the nuclear radio emission in local galaxies? We combine optical [O III] line emission, robust black hole (BH) mass estimates, and high-resolution e-MERLIN 1.5-GHz data, from the LeMMINGs survey, of a statistically-complete sample of 280 nearby, optically active (LINER and Seyfert) and inactive HII and Absorption line galaxies [ALG]) galaxies. Using [O III] luminosity ($L_{\rm [O~III]}$) as a proxy for the accretion power, local galaxies follow distinct sequences in the optical-radio planes of BH activity, which suggest different origins of the nuclear radio emission for the optical classes. The 1.5-GHz radio luminosity of their parsec-scale cores ($L_{\rm core}$) is found to scale with BH mass ($M_{\rm BH}$) and [O~III] luminosity. Below $M_{\rm BH} \sim$10$^{6.5}$ M$_{\odot}$, stellar processes from non-jetted HII galaxies dominate with $L_{\rm core} \propto M_{\rm BH}^{0.61\pm0.33}$ and $L_{\rm core} \propto L_{\rm [O~III]}^{0.79\pm0.30}$. Above $M_{\rm BH} \sim$10$^{6.5}$ M$_{\odot}$, accretion-driven processes dominate with $L_{\rm core} \propto M_{\rm BH}^{1.5-1.65}$ and $L_{\rm core} \propto L_{\rm [O~III]}^{0.99-1.31}$ for active galaxies: radio-quiet/loud LINERs, Seyferts and jetted HII galaxies always display (although low) signatures of radio-emitting BH activity, with $L_{\rm 1.5\, GHz}\gtrsim$10$^{19.8}$ W Hz$^{-1}$ and $M_{\rm BH}\gtrsim10^{7}$ M$_{\odot}$, on a broad range of Eddington-scaled accretion rates ($\dot{m}$). We assemble a large set of 2-10 GHz radio flux density measurements and upper limits of 294 different supernovae (SNe), from the literature and our own and archival data. Only 31% of the SNe were detected. We characterize the SN lightcurves near the peak using a two-parameter model, with tpk being the time to rise to a peak and Lpk the spectral luminosity at that peak. Over all SNe in our sample at D<100 Mpc, we find that tpk=101.7±0.9 d, and that Lpk=1025.5±1.6 erg s−1 Hz−1, and therefore that generally, 50% of SNe will have Lpk<1025.5 erg s−1 Hz−1. These Lpk values are ~30 times lower than those for only detected SNe. Types I b/c and II (excluding IIn's) have similar mean values of Lpk but the former have a wider range, whereas Type IIn SNe have ~10 times higher values with Lpk=1026.5±1.1 erg s−1 Hz−1. As for tpk, Type I b/c have tpk of only 101.1±0.5 d while Type II have tpk=101.6±1.0 and Type IIn the longest timescales with tpk=103.1±0.7 d. We also estimate the distribution of progenitor mass-loss rates, M˙, and find the mean and standard deviation of log10(M˙/Msol) yr−1 are −5.4±1.2 (assuming vwind=1000 km s−1) for Type I~b/c SNe, and −6.9±1.4 (assuming vwind=10 km s−1 for Type II SNe excluding Type IIn.

When it comes to immigration research in the United States, mainstream media coverage and policy analysis have traditionally focused on more top-line public opinion and what is revealed through polling. Average public polling is useful as a means of identifying which Americans are pro- or anti-immigration. It can explain what people feel or want, but it is unable to explain why they feel that way or how deeply they hold that position. It has also therefore been unable to suggest meaningful strategies for intervention or change.This report and the interdisciplinary survey on which it is based sought to overcome these limitations by digging deeper into how respondents think about immigration issues. Our goal was to assess U.S. citizens' mental models of immigration, i.e., their beliefs and attitudes towards it, but also their perceptions of the risks and benefits it poses. Broadly, we asked: In what ways do their beliefs and values interact with their perceptions of immigration? How and why do U.S. citizens hold the immigration attitudes that they do?

We present the second data release of high-resolution (≤0.2 arcsec) 1.5-GHz radio images of 177 nearby galaxies from the Palomar sample, observed with the e-MERLIN array, as part of the LeMMINGs (Legacy e-MERLIN Multi-band Imaging of Nearby Galaxy Sample) survey. Together with the 103 targets of the first LeMMINGs data release, this represents a complete sample of 280 local active (LINER and Seyfert) and inactive galaxies (H ii galaxies and Absorption Line Galaxies, ALG). This large program is the deepest radio survey of the local Universe, ≳ 1017.6 W Hz−1, regardless of the host and nuclear type: we detect radio emission ≳0.25 mJy beam−1 for 125/280 galaxies (44.6 per cent) with sizes of typically ≲100 pc. Of those 125, 106 targets show a core which coincides within 1.2 arcsec with the optical nucleus. Although we observed mostly cores, around one third of the detected galaxies features jetted morphologies. The detected radio core luminosities of the sample range between ∼1034 and 1040 erg s−1. LINERs and Seyferts are the most luminous sources, whereas H ii galaxies are the least. LINERs show FR I-like core-brightened radio structures while Seyferts reveal the highest fraction of symmetric morphologies. The majority of H ii galaxies have single radio core or complex extended structures, which probably conceal a nuclear starburst and/or a weak active nucleus (seven of them show clear jets). ALGs, which are typically found in evolved ellipticals, although the least numerous, exhibit on average the most luminous radio structures, similar to LINERs.

Background & aimsMagnetic resonance imaging proton density fat fraction (MRI-PDFF) offers promise as a non-invasive biomarker of treatment response in early-phase nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) trials. We performed a systematic review to quantify the association between a ≥ 30% reduction in MRI-PDFF and histologic response in NASH.MethodsWe searched the Cochrane Library, Embase, Medline and trial registries through May 2020 for early-phase clinical trials that incorporated MRI-PDFF and examined histologic response following intervention in adults with NASH. Subjects were classified as MRI-PDFF responders (relative decline in liver fat ≥30%) or non-responders (relative decline in liver fat <30%). MRI-PDFF responders versus non-responders were compared. Primary outcome was histologic response defined as a 2-point improvement in NAFLD Activity Score with at least 1-point improvement in lobular inflammation or ballooning. Secondary outcome was NASH resolution. Proportions and random effects odds ratios (OR) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated.ResultsSeven studies met inclusion criteria, comprising 346 subjects (median age 51 years; 59% female; 46% with diabetes). MRI-PDFF responders were significantly more likely to have a histologic response (51% vs 14%, P < .001; OR 6.98, 95% CI 2.38-20.43, P < .001) and NASH resolution (41% vs 7%, P < .001; OR 5.45, 95% CI 1.53-19.46, P = .009) compared to non-responders.ConclusionsThis meta-analysis demonstrates that a ≥30% relative decline in MRI-PDFF is associated with higher odds of histologic response and NASH resolution. These results support the use of MRI-PDFF in non-invasive monitoring of treatment response in early-phase NASH clinical trials and provide helpful data for sample-size estimation for histology-based assessment.

Buah apel jenis apel Manalagi merupakan salah satu jenis buah apel yang banyak dikonsumsi baik secara langsung maupun dalam bentuk produk olahan. Dengan banyaknya peminat buah apel jenis ini diharapkan mampu membantu perekonomian petani kota Batu. Namun terdapat beberapa masalah ketika memilih buah apel jenis apel Manalagi yang layak untuk dikonsumsi. Pada tahap pascapanen misalnya banyak karyawan yang menumpuk buah apel berkualitas dengan buah apel yang berpenyakitan karena tidak memakai acuan gambar buah apel berkualitas. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah mengembangkan model untuk mengklasifikasikan kualitas visual apel jenis apel Manalagi dengan menggunakan algoritma Faster R-CNN dan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi deteksi kualitas buah apel jenis apel Manalagi secara visual. Penelitian ini menggunakan algoritma Faster R-CNN untuk mengklasifikasikan kualitas buah apel jenis apel Manalagi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kamera ponsel pintar Samsung A32 dan Oppo A53. Jumlah data gambar yang terkumpul berjumlah 200 data gambar yang berupa 100 gambar buah apel jenis apel Manalagi segar dan 100 gambar buah apel jenis apel Manalagi rusak. Fitur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu rasio data intensitas cahaya dan jarak. Rasio data yang digunakan adalah 80% 20% dan 60% 40%. Untuk intensitas cahaya yang digunakan yaitu 41 lux 121 lux dan 222 lux. Sedangkan jarak yang digunakan yaitu 20 cm 25 cm 30 cm 35 cm dan 40 cm. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jumlah rasio data tidak mempengaruhi hasil klasifikasi buah apel jenis apel Manalagi. Pengujian pada model pertama dengan rasio data 80% data training dan 20% data testing menghasilkan akurasi sebesar 100% untuk buah apel jenis apel Manalagi segar dan 100% untuk buah apel jenis apel Manalagi rusak. Sedangkan pada model kedua dengan rasio data 60% data training dan 40% data testing juga menghasilkan akurasi sebesar 100% untuk buah apel jenis apel Manalagi segar dan 100% untuk buah apel jenis apel

Native biodiversity decline and non-native species spread are major features of the Anthropocene. Both processes can drive biotic homogenization by reducing trait and phylogenetic differences in species assemblages between regions, thus diminishing the regional distinctiveness of biotas and likely have negative impacts on key ecosystem functions. However, a global assessment of this phenomenon is lacking. Here, using a dataset of >200,000 plant species, we demonstrate widespread and temporal decreases in species and phylogenetic turnover across grain sizes and spatial extents. The extent of homogenization within major biomes is pronounced and is overwhelmingly explained by non-native species naturalizations. Asia and North America are major sources of non-native species; however, the species they export tend to be phylogenetically close to recipient floras. Australia, the Pacific and Europe, in contrast, contribute fewer species to the global pool of non-natives, but represent a disproportionate amount of phylogenetic diversity. The timeline of most naturalisations coincides with widespread human migration within the last ~500 years, and demonstrates the profound influence humans exert on regional biotas beyond changes in species richness.

The Industrializationprocess in the coal mining industry in Lota transformed the dynamics between bosses and employees, generating new relationships with the female gender beyond the workspace. This research analyzes the construction of the female gender identity in Lota through the discourse given by the Compañía Minera e Industrial de Chile in the local newspaper “La Opinión”. The main purpose of this investigation is to understand the production of this press medium through an industrial paternalism logic in order to reviewit and define whether it was a cultural discipline mechanism generated by Lota’s coal industry or not, La industria carbonífera de Lota transformó las dinámicas entre patrones y familias, generando nuevas relaciones con el género femenino fuera de los espacios laborales. La presente investigación realiza un análisis sobre la construcción de la identidad de género femenina en Lota a través del discurso expuesto por la Compañía Minera e Industrial de Chile en el periódico local “La Opinión”. Se busca comprender la producción de este medio de prensa, expresión del paternalismo industrial, con la finalidad de revisar si este responde a una práctica de disciplinamiento cultural por parte de la empresa carbonífera de Lota.

Transportation in general in Indonesia is facing many challenges, but all possibilities that will occur can be anticipated by structuring a more resilient national transportation system. This study aims to determine and understand the application of the ISM-Code to be used as legal protection from the use of ships that are not of marine standards. The research method used is the normative research method, which is a legal writing method that aims to obtain library legal materials by collecting and analyzing legal materials related to the problem. The results of this study are, first. In the application of the ISM-Code it is used as a legal protection from the use of ships that are not standard marine standards. There are still many shipping companies that issue policies that are not standard ISM-Code or do not meet the elements of Article 9 of the Minister of Transportation Number 45 of 2012 concerning Ship Safety Management Systems. And secondly the ISM-Code Required as Legal protection from the use of ships that do not meet maritime standards is the form of legal protection contained in the ISM-Code.
