The evolution and integration of Information and Communication Technologies in all sectors of society has resulted in a transformation of people's behaviour towards the conventional pen and paper tools. The adoption of technology has enhanced work and learning performance by adding swiftness in task completion, organisation of working materials and capacity of storage. Despite its popularity and value, technology, is still surpassed, in some domains, by pen and paper. This research aims to explore the advantages and disadvantages of using both computer and paper for reading and writing. The development of an online questionnaire that was administered to university students intended to examine their preferences and behaviours in terms of computer and paper based resources. Through a qualitative content analysis of the questionnaires it was possible to establish patterns of use, personal preferences and establish a connection between computer and paper use that mirrors both competitiveness and complementarity. Digital accessibility has become an important topic in the field of HCI, but when looking at accessibility on a global scale, we find that the representation of accessibility research is mostly centered in the Global North with countries that are WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic). Our paper explores digital accessibility in Iran, focusing exclusively on its national policies on accessibility. Iran is a non-WEIRD country located in the Global South, with no reports on its digital accessibility status from the Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies (G3ict). We found that there is not enough focus on accessibility in Iran's regulations and we conclude our paper by recommending directions for improving this situation such as HCI and disability organizations in Iran cooperating with G3ict. In this paper we present a systematic literature review of studies related to digital maturity of schools. The focus is on the identification of the most significant papers from the field of digital maturity of schools, essential elements of digital maturity frameworks and their validation, as well as the connection with other sectors related to the school. The analysis shows that ICT infrastructure is an important but not sufficient element for digital transformation. Digital transformation is also influenced by digital competences of schools' employees, use of ICT in teaching and learning and administration, and the strategic approach to digital transformation. The paper deals with the preferences of the Slovak university students either for digital or print medium while reading for school work. Respondents of our sample belong to generation Y who grow up and still live in the digital environment. In spite of this fact we supposed some share of them tends to utilise hard copy or combines it with digital platforms. Findings showed that printed text is widely preferred among our sample of respondents. Majority of university students use paper as a medium for school work. Important factors influencing a choice of medium are length of text, ability to concentrate on reading text, overall time spent by reading, and attitudes of individuals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Over the past decade, the applications of drone technology have proliferated in various industries. This dissertation sets out to investigate the opportunities and challenges of drones in manufacturing industries from an operations management (OM) perspective. This dissertation consists of four papers. The first paper explores the applications of drones in manufacturing and proposes a typology of drone applications. The second paper narrows down the scope to examine potential applications and the benefits and challenges involved in the petrochemical industry that has shown particularly high potentials for the use of drones. The third paper focuses on the adoption process of drones in Geberit and IKEA and highlights where, why, and how drones can be used in operations settings. The fourth paper builds a virtual simulation model and explores the potential of automatic drones in factory inspection operations. This dissertation contributes to the existing literature on advanced manufacturing technologies (AMT) by introducing the new case of drones. This dissertation has rich contributions to practice. First, it provides a systematic approach to identifying drone applications, benefits, and challenges in manufacturing settings and provides a useful starting point for companies evaluating the adoption of drone technology in their factories by elucidating the factors that should be known and planned before implementation. This dissertation benefits from both explorative and experimental research approaches. This paper contextualizes discourses surrounding new media technologies by examining activism around independent media, using as a case study an activist group who since the mid-1990s have advocated for greater citizen access to low power FM (LPFM) radio. The continuing interest in the viability of FM radio demonstrates the need for a nuanced understanding of the uses and impacts of communication technologies. I argue that the significance of new media technologies can be grasped most effectively when considered in a dynamic field that includes older technologies; emerging technologies are often viewed through the lens of patterns of use and interpretation of older technologies, at least initially. I follow the activists' assessments of not only FM radio but emerging digital technologies, including webstreaming, "smart" (or software-defined) radio, and wi-fi networks. In practice, the activists circumspectly negotiate expanding their efforts to encompass community wi-fi networks, while trying to retain the vision, flavor, and organizing strategies from their LPFM campaigns. I trace the tensions they experience as they consider the implications of this shift for their emphasis on a "grassroots mandate", for their policy work versus hands-on technical work, and for their identification with FM radio technology versus the inclusion of computer and wi-fi technology in their conception of their work. The advent of digital transformation and the emergence of servitisation have fundamentally altered our understanding and evaluation of innovation, especially in the realm of advising innovation policy. Within this context, the significance of data in studying innovation cannot be overstated. However, the proliferation of data sources poses a formidable challenge for scholars in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) research, who must navigate through various options to select the most appropriate data sources. This paper examines both the opportunities and constraints associated with traditional and emerging approaches to STI data, shedding light on their utilisation within the field. Notably, it delves into the utilisation of patent and bibliometrics data alongside newer market-driven real-time sources, proposing further development of more dynamic data-driven taxonomies. Product development success relies on interdisciplinary communication in order to be cost effective and efficient. This paper presents a new modular system designed to enhance communication and streamline workflows among professionals from varied backgrounds, using Bosch Power Tools' product range as a case study. The methodology is built on a three-step approach: Starting with qualitative interviews, requirements for a modular communication platform focusing on prototype fidelity are established. Thereafter, a solution is developed to include developers at various product development stages, promoting unrestricted idea exchange through a new modular system built on an analysis of the product portfolio. In a third methodological step, through an expert workshop, the new concept is evaluated. This system supports rapid communication and ergonomic discussion, adapting to different development phases and thus underscores the significance of integrating diverse perspectives to improve communication and leverage specialized knowledge effectively. Finding a great idea for an opportunity with a low potential is a waste of creative resources and talents. Yet, opportunity recognition cruelly lacks attention in innovation processes, methods, and research. We propose in this paper a new method, which we called Design by Impact. The Design by Impact method allows for systematic opportunity recognition and idea optimization through maximization of the Impact of the solution, that is, the difference made by the choice of this new solution over another for all actors. This paper presents how Design by Impact operates, from the deterministic analytical opportunity recognition, to the idea generation and the optimization of both the ecosystemic insertion and organic propagation of the idea generated. Currently, Living Labs are evaluated in multiple different ways which is hampering comparison. This paper proposes a harmonized method combining various elements (6 chapters, 15 criteria and 34 KPIs), mainly based on the standardized evaluation framework developed by Vervoort et al. (2022) for evaluating the diverse types of Living Labs. Such a harmonized approach will help to simplify evaluation processes and will allow to compare the stability and maturity of LLs in a uniform manner. The premise is that creating a harmonized assessment method will increase the sustainability of Living Labs by providing them a method that allows comparison of the maturity of multiple types of Living Labs without losing sight of the particularities of individual Living Labs within their specific contexts. Open-Source Software (OSS), known for its collaborative development and transparent access to source code, provides an effective way for businesses to achieve community-driven innovation, improved security, cost-efficiency, rapid prototyping, and customization. Despite of such benefits, the use of OSS has not yet reached the expected levels. This paper describes activities and outcomes of a recent R&D project that sought to strengthen companies' change- and innovation capabilities by offering them consultancy, guidance, and training for utilizing OSS in their business and digitalization development efforts. During the project, industry needs were gathered, and OSS solutions were proposed for companies' identified needs. Based on the experiences of collaborating with businesses, and on a survey exploring current understanding of OSS opportunities and competence needs, the project planned for an establishment of regional Open-Source Competence Centre. NoSQL Database Manager Systems (DBMS) are an alternative to analytical systems and have been used in this regard. As analytical systems often use data multidimensional modelling, the question arises of how to apply this modelling to NoSQL DBMS, which has such differentiated physical characteristics of relational databases. A systematic literature review (SLR) is performed to gather the aspects prompting the application of multidimensional modelling to NoSQL. One hundred twelve were pre-selected, and 67 were classified as relevant according to the research questions defined for this SLR. Three main approaches are highlighted: classical multidimensional modelling, multidimensional modelling with junctions of aggregated facts and dimensions in a single entity, and multidimensional modelling with aggregated facts and dimensions in a single entity, and adding pre-computed summaries. This paper presents the development and validation of a frequency and channel detection application within GNU Radio, with a particular focus on improving the accuracy of Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems in monitoring frequency hopping signals. To test the application, a series of experimental scenarios were implemented using equipment such as a signal generator, a USRP N310 SDR platform, and a VHF wideband antenna. The scenarios included initial laboratory tests involving the generation of frequency hopping continuous wave signals in the 70-91 MHz range, followed by the generation of a 3G cellular standards-specific channel with sweep in the 70-90 MHz range, and a real frequency hopping test using military radio stations. The latter test was performed in the 75-85 MHz range using predefined frequencies (with 2 MHz steps between them) and different hopping rates (100 hops/s, 300 hops/s, 1000 hops/s). The goal of the in-situ tests was to evaluate the detection capabilities under different conditions. The results showed a 100% success rate in identifying and recording hopping frequencies. The results of this study confirm the reliability and effectiveness of the developed GNU Radio application and demonstrate the potential of the system itself for advanced telecommunications and spectrum management tasks in both the commercial and defense sectors. In this study, a systematic literature review is conducted to more thoroughly understand the context surrounding the emerging implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in organisations. An Input-Process-Output model is adopted as the research framework to investigate the antecedences, processes and consequences of AI implementation in organisations. The preliminary results of the research are presented after analysing 50 peer-reviewed full papers. Although the research is still in progress, it is expected the findings of this study can contribute to the already existing body of literature and identify implications for practitioners. Gender is essential to our identity. As information and communications technology (ICT) permeates every aspect of everyday life, a body of literature has emerged that broadens our understanding of IT and gender. A growing number of studies have shed light on the implications of ICT for gender and sexual minority populations in various areas. Gender and sexual minorities commonly referred to as LGBT consist of people whose gender identity diverges from predominant conceptions of masculinity and femininity or whose sexual orientation differs from the majority. Previous literature reviews on IT and gender have focused on the underrepresentation of women in the IT landscape. This paper presents the preliminary results of a literature review focusing on gender and sexual minorities and ICT. This paper contributes to the IS literature on gender by providing a foundation for ideas on ICT’s role in mitigating the stigma associated with gender and sexual minority status. Business Process Management (BPM) is with us for almost 50 years. It is an old concept, representing a business change paradigm, but its popularity rises every 10 years driven by the new/next BPM wave. On the contrary, Digital Transformation (DT) is a contemporary concept and rising business paradigm which mandatory relies on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that tends to overpass BPM and accompany its so-called 4th wave. DT is derived from the basic BPM idea, based on process change supported with contemporary technology, but it has the advantage of right timing, since almost all contemporary technologies like: IoT, Big Data, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, 3D printing... etc. are on the development »peak« or on adequate »maturity level« for real implementation in business processes. This paper compares BPM and its »waves« with the road to development of DT, starting from computerization, informatization, digitalization and getting to today's Digital Transformation. DT includes the shift in mind of people, change in business processes and radical business transformation towards new business models based on contemporary technologies that enable them, and organizational change that brings »the next step« in business evolution to life. ABSTRACT This poster presents how Chinese researchers use research information management (RIM) systems (e.g., ResearchGate, Google Scholar). Findings include a typology of activities in which Chinese researchers engage in RIM systems. The findings indicate that obtaining English papers and connecting with scholars from other countries motivate Chinese researchers to use specific RIM systems, while the language barrier and the Great Firewall of China discourage them to use or engage in those systems. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are central to the changes taking place throughout the world. Digital media has revolutionised the information society and advances in ICTs have dramatically changed the learning and teaching process. This has opened up new learning opportunities and provided access to educational resources well beyond those traditionally available. In 2004, the South African government adopted the "White Paper on e-Education: Transforming Learning and Teaching through Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs)". The purpose of this policy was to implement and address ICT in education in South Africa. On the other hand, there are many serious challenges to be overcome, including a marked urban-rural digital divide in the country, and some sobering realities regarding education in South Africa. In production companies, managers frequently deal with inefficiencies caused by employees learning about new tasks with a considerable delay. The paper focuses on solving the lack of real-time interaction in currently used task administration systems by means of an ICT solution. The main causes of the inefficiencies consist in insufficient real-time information on the sides of both workers and managers. Employees view updates in the information system randomly, thus increasing unnecessary periods of idle time, while their superiors are not fully informed about the status of tasks in progress and about current workload of individual workers. The presented ICT solution was developed for production companies and implemented for the purpose of administering production line failure records. The solution is based on informing employees about a new maintenance task online in real time, using a combination of the designed information system with a mobile phone. The presented system utilizes advanced information technologies - cloud messaging, mobile applications, and web applications. The employee will be equipped with a smartphone with a specially designed application. By a notification sent to the mobile phone, the employee will be immediately informed about the task assigned. As regards task administering, employees enter information about the phases of task execution and managers are informed about the status of executed tasks. Another key feature of the system is providing managers with managerial overviews and compiling reports in order to monitor a number of key indicators. The Unified Process (UP) methodology was used to design the information system. The system accelerates the process of receiving tasks by individual maintenance workers after a failure has been reported, an online overview of the status of work on failures, including a managerial overview of the work of individual workers and the total time spent on solving the task (e.g. a production line defect removal). COVID-19 has tested the organizational capacity of the education system in Mozambique, including the higher education level when it became mandatory to close all face-to-face teaching activities. To respond to this challenge and continue with the noble mission of teaching, the Catholic University of Mozambique implemented a hybrid model, specifically through digital platforms, even though it was aware of the various resource limitations on the part of teachers and students. This strategy would be determinant for a successful path to the purpose of "never stop teaching and learning." This paper attempts to answer questions that arose at introducing this new teaching model during the COVID-19: (i) What skills did teachers have to respond to ICT-mediated teaching? (ii) What strategies were used to circumvent the difficulties arising from COVID-19 for Teaching and Learning? (iii) What kind of skills, difficulty, and behaviour characterized the students to correspond to a 100% online teaching system? and (iv) What platforms and instruments were used to respond to this teaching model? The paper first seeks answers from exploratory interviews with teachers about the use of ICTs in teaching and learning and subsequently presents some challenges in three dimensions (institutions, teachers, and students) of which their consideration can lead to a path in the immersion of the technologization of teaching. In methodological terms, a qualitative approach was used, where interviews were conducted with a sample of teachers from this university who were part of the frontline of the process. The results show that for the case study, it was possible, to teach and learn through Moodle platforms, Google Classroom, interacting through Zoom, Google Meet, and using Skype as a communication tool with students. Over the past decade, open innovation (OI) literature has extended its scope beyond strictly economical contexts to the context of societal value creation. This has given rise to the notion of (local) distributed knowledge as a driver for sustainable innovation and has highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder collaborations in new product development (NPD) processes to develop new ICT systems for complex urban issues. Here, the project format of urban living labs shows a lot of potential to support urban sustainability transition. However, a lot of fuzziness still exists around ULLs in terms of actual value creation. By applying a systematic literature review, this paper aims at shed light on how ULLs create value for urban sustainability transition and how this value creation is being measured. However, less seem to be known about EMRs in an African context. The purpose of this paper is therefore to review studies on EMRs implemented in sub-Saharan Africa and to identify benefits and challenges met. Articles available in PubMed, PMC, Scopus, JAMIA and Google were searched through JIBS online library using the search string "EMR systems in Sub-Saharan Africa". In most the papers, EMRs have been implemented in HIV/AIDS settings allowing better monitoring of patients under antiretroviral therapy (ART). EMR systems have also succeeded to increase the number of patients under ART. Moreover, EMRs have improved work processes as they have reduced patients waiting time and enhanced monitoring of medical appointments. However, EMRs have suffered lack of electricity, poor Internet connectivity and computer illiteracy. This research-in-progress paper examines the dialectical tensions in inter-organisational collaboration on shared information technology (IT) resources in the public sector. Collaborating public sector organisations are encouraged to explore shared IT resources to align and harmonise multiple IT assets, human resources, and processes. However, the bureaucratic nature of public sector organisations can lead to tensions between individual organisational needs, policymakers' objectives, and joint efforts. This paper presents a preliminary exploration of the problem. The study focuses on the context of UK police services collaborating with other police services and emergency services to create and manage large-scale shared IT infrastructures. The research fills a gap in the literature by exploring dialectical tensions in inter-organisational collaboration of public sector organisations seeking to collaborate for policy implementation. The analysis revealed four tensions arising from disagreements on motivations, objectives, norms, and interpretations, which affect different aspects of the enactment process. In the last few decades, the creation and development of organizational culture has been an essential factor in the success of contemporary organizations. In order for employees to be satisfied and productive in their workplaces, management must account for various aspects of the development of organizational culture. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the role and importance of organizational culture for contemporary organizations. The concept and importance of organizational culture, as well as Cameron and Quinn's typology as one of the most famous typologies of organizational culture, are explained first. Cameron and Quinn's typology emphasizes four different types of organizational culture: clan culture, hierarchy culture, market culture, and adhocracy culture. At the core of the paper is a case study of a selected ICT organization. Using Cameron and Quinn's typology and their Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI), the study examines which type of organizational culture is currently present and which type is desirable in the selected ICT organization. The results of the research conducted among employees of an ICT organization indicate that clan culture is currently dominant, but an adhocracy culture is desirable. How conversation takes place is a well-researched area in the field of Linguistics, particularly when it comes to how Feminist Methodologies are applied to this. What remains to be seen, however, is the application of these techniques in the field of Computer Science. Although some research has started to emerge in this area, this paper argues that there needs to be an examination of the subtleties in conversation, through a union of three methodological practices: thematic analysis, feminist methodologies, and discourse analysis. This reflective paper summarises a consideration on discourse and conversation analysis, the existing cross over with feminist research, and presents areas of further research within the field of Computer Science. The main aim of this paper is to describe the major changes caused by Industry 4.0 in the implemented business models (and their elements) in business organizations. The paper presents a number of theoretical business model concepts and explores the connection and impact of Industry 4.0 and the technologies behind it on organizations’ business models. The impact of Industry 4.0 is analyzed and described based on the four-box business model framework making references to real case examples of companies vastly using Industry 4.0 based technologies. Finally, the paper highlights characteristics of the Industry 4.0-based business models and presents conclusions regarding the changes that Industry 4.0 might introduce to the processes of value creation, delivery and capture. We study the problem of selling information to a data-buyer who faces a decision problem under uncertainty. We consider the classic Bayesian decision-theoretic model pioneered by Blackwell. Initially, the data buyer has only partial information about the payoff-relevant state of the world. A data seller offers additional information about the state of the world. The information is revealed through signaling schemes, also referred to as experiments. In the single-agent setting, any mechanism can be represented as a menu of experiments. A recent paper by Bergemann et al.[8] present a complete characterization of the revenue-optimal mechanism in a binary state and binary action environment. By contrast, no characterization is known for the case with more actions. In this paper, we consider more general environments and study arguably the simplest mechanism, which only sells the fully informative experiment. In the environment with binary state and m≥3 actions, we provide an $O(m)$-approximation to the optimal revenue by selling only the fully informative experiment and show that the approximation ratio is tight up to an absolute constant factor. An important corollary of our lower bound is that the size of the optimal menu must grow at least linearly in the number of available actions, so no universal upper bound exists for the size of the optimal menu in the general single-dimensional setting. We also provide a sufficient condition under which selling only the fully informative experiment achieves the optimal revenue. For multi-dimensional environments, we prove that even in arguably the simplest matching utility environment with 3 states and 3 actions, the ratio between the optimal revenue and the revenue by selling only the fully informative experiment can grow immediately to a polynomial of the number of agent types. The paper deals with the problem of designing educational e-courses for teaching deaf and hard-of-hearing students taking into consideration their special educational needs. The paper presents the practices of online learning for such students at Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University. The paper is aimed at publishing the results of research related to designing electronic courses for deaf and hearing impaired students, including adaptation of the videos, the use of an e-dictionary of terms, graphic and text materials illustrated by e-courses on Descriptive geometry and English language taught at Kalashnikov ISTU. The study was conducted at the Centre for inclusive education at Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University, the experiments involved 11-19 hearing-impaired students majoring in Mechanical Engineering. The students were asked to participate in a series of experiments involving the use of video materials, different graphic forms of information presentation and an electronic terms dictionary. The participants were asked to answer test questions about presented material, fill in questionnaires and discuss the experiment. As a result of our study, the following typical structure of an e-course units was proposed: each unit starts with the introduction of an e-vocabulary of terms (in Russian sign language), followed by a test for comprehension of the presented terms, then presents the theoretical material in the form of video lectures with subtitles, lecture notes, activity book, step-by-step instructions to perform tasks and additional materials. The paper shows the frequency and type of changes in the organisational architecture due to the implementation of ICT, in accordance with the basic characteristics of the surveyed companies. The research methods used in the paper are induction, deduction, quantitative analysis and synthesis, description, compilation, survey and statistical method and non-hierarchical clustering method in more than 200 companies of different sizes, numbers of employees, geographical position and activities. The research was conducted by analysing nine different variables and, through eleven iterations, five different clusters were derived. The selected variables are: size of changes in organisational structure, size of changes in business processes, size of changes in enterprise strategy, size of changes in human resources, company size, total income value, number of ICTs used, change of strategy and changes in the number of employees. The contribution of this paper is to determine the quantitative and qualitative impact of the implementation of ICT on the organisational architecture and in the grouping of companies according to the impact of ICT on certain elements of the organisational architecture. The practical contribution of the work is reflected in the research methodology and the ability to use the research results in companies of all sectors of the economy and of all sizes. Purpose: The main objective of this work was to analyze the use of ICT in creative tourism as a promoter of contact established with visitors or tourists. The stakeholders of study were artisans and creative companies, and the local community of UNESCO creative cities. Methodology: a mixed methodology was implemented, which included carrying out 30 semi-structured interviews with artisans and creative companies in Barcelos and Óbidos, as well as 408 questionnaire surveys being validated with residents of these locations that are UNESCO Creative Cities (241 in Barcelos and 167 in Óbidos). More than 470 surveys were collected but were not validated because they had at least 20% non-responses. The 30 semi-structured were conducted when upon reaching the saturation point, as being the moment at which no new information or no new themes are registered. The total number of interviewees was 14 females and 16 males. In Óbidos, the number of certified artisans is substantially smaller than in Barcelos, so it was only possible to interview 11 artisans from Óbidos. In Barcelos, a total of 19 artisans were interviewed. The choice of UNESCO Creative Cities is assumed because, according to the literature in the area, they constitute great examples in the context of creative tourism, and the areas of Literature and Crafts and Popular Arts are two of the domains that UNESCO values. and classifies as dimensions of greatest interest. These areas are also important areas from the point of view of tourism supply and demand in general. The surveys were implemented by distributing them in online format based on forms.ua and in paper format and were distributed randomly, depending on whether participants agreed to participate in the study. Survey data were analyzed using SPSS. The interviews were carried out by telephone, using the databases of the municipal councils of Barcelos and Óbidos, and their data were analyzed based on the webQDA – Qualitative Data Analysis software. Results: The results obtained show that it is residents who can use ICT the most and best to establish contact with creative tourist demand. Artisans and creative companies can take better advantage of ICT because these platforms can help to boost artisan activity, making it more attractive, more publicized and, therefore, consumed by tourists and visitors. Artisans and creative companies are using ICT mainly to disseminate their work in a timely manner. Residents use ICT mainly to observe tourist (dis)satisfaction. The use of ICT to contact tourist demand can be used by the stakeholders studied as a means of learning, knowledge, to facilitate communication with tourists or visitors, to attract different types of tourists or visitors, for analysis, exposure and /or observation of tourist (dis)satisfaction. Research limitations: The irregularity of the data obtained depending on the location can be considered as a limitation because it demonstrates a greater attractiveness in terms of demand for creative tourism in Óbidos than in Barcelos. The implementation of questionnaire surveys in an online format did not work as well as would have been desired because, given the various publications of links to these surveys, the number of online responses was not very significant. This fact forced several trips to Barcelos and Óbidos. Although several trips were made during the months of May and August 2023, the fact that it was not possible to travel to Portuguese locations in other periods coinciding with creative events constitutes a limitation, as more responses could have been obtained. Carrying out interviews by telephone constitutes another limitation of this investigation because it conditioned the existing dialogue with the interviewees. Furthermore, several telephone contacts of certified artisans found on the websites of the municipal councils of Barcelos and Óbidos were inactive or out of service, and not all unanswered telephone calls were returned. Originality: The use of ICT by tourism in general and in the particular case of creative tourism is a topic that has little been analyzed from a microregional perspective. In the case of UNESCO Creative Cities, the role of ICT in establishing contacts between the tourist offer and tourists and creative visitors has not been analyzed in the literature in the area. Findings of this paper present a taxonomy with structured overview on key characteristics of living labs in a smart service context and with that, insights on how living labs can be used for smart service innovation. Deriving from theoretical and empirical data we found that characteristics of living labs can be arranged into two main groups describing on the one hand the milieu and on the other hand the methodology for smart service innovation. Characteristics of the milieu such as physical framing or the ecosystem of living labs describe the set-up of living labs within which smart service innovation takes place and which can be utilized for the innovation process. Characteristics of the latter, the methodology, outline possible characteristics of using living labs as an approach towards the smart service innovation process including activities, resources, and the involvement of users. Accelerators have rapidly emerged as prominent players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. In designing acceleration programs, a key strategic decision is the extent of customization. Recognizing a trade-off between customization and standardization, the paper presents a multistage model developed to serve the needs of the newly established business accelerator of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Aiming to harvest benefits of standardization while keeping several advantages found in tailor-made acceleration programs, a 3-stage model is proposed. Each stage matches a different level of maturity and startup selection positions applicants into one of the three stages. For those positioned in the first two stages the aim is to progressively (and selectively) assist them through to the next stages. As authors act as change agents aiming to solve practical problems, an action research approach is adopted. This paper reconsiders the importance of advertising to business model innovation by testing a new definition of advertising (Kerr et al., 2020) using quantitative research method called structural equation modelling to test Chinese sample. An important insight was suggested for start-ups or companies that want to innovate their business model via modern ICT. With our findings, they might better understand the aspects of modern ICT. Not only is an innovative business model inseparable from consideration of advertising, but for general innovation management, to overcome the competition of "Darwinian Sea," the reconsideration of advertising is also important. The results demonstrate that--in the social media context--while paid media, owned media, and earned media have been used to develop brand identity, only some of them have persuaded Chinese consumers. The world in general and cities in particular face tremendous challenges at the environmental, social, economic and institutional levels. Currently, cities need to be sustainable and smart. As our better knowledge, most of the literature explores the concept of smart cities from the point of view of information and communications technology unless the connection with the social and sustainability aspects remains unsolved. This paper tries to overcome this gap in the literature. The main aim is to analyse the contribution of short supply chains of foods in terms of the sustainability of smart cities. The methods include a scoping revision of the literature. Information and data also come from the preliminary results from the SGDsCONSUM project. The results confirm the positive impacts of short supply chains of food in urban areas towards smart and sustainable cities. This paper analyses the use of design methods and information and communication technology (ICTs) tools in design sprint (DS) activities. Team members, team leaders, and coaches of five international student teams were interviewed (40 interviews in total) regarding their use of design methods and ICT tools during three DS activities: problem definition, conceptual design, and embodiment design. The results show that teams utilise various methods through three approaches: one method for the task, several methods for the task, or adjusting methods. Teams considered several aspects when deciding which method to utilise: the possibility of work distribution, the time needed to execute the method and their prior experience in using the method. The results on using ICT tools suggest that teams mainly use the collaborative whiteboard and Computer-aided design (CAD). In this context, tools that enable continuous sharing of the work in progress (e.g., cloud-based tools) show great potential for DS activities. Finally, the results show a potential to integrate various tools in order to enable easy transition between tasks (e.g., a transition from collaborative whiteboard to CAD modelling). This paper engages feminist standpoint as both theory and method in defining effective ICT use for women in West Virginia. Through a 14-month ethnographic study of participants in beginner computer and internet courses, this study examines why West Virginian women are at the lower end of America's digital divide. It examines how patriarchal forces that marginalized these women in education and employment and engineered them into traditional domestic roles prevented them from accessing computers and the internet for a significant portion of their lives, thus relegating them to the peripheries of the information society. It then present participants' views of computers and the Internet, and discuss how their reasons for adopting ICTs are articulations of their standpoints that are linked to their everyday consciousness. This research paper aims to explore the link between knowledge and ICT innovations by uncovering the unexplored temporal dynamics, of knowledge transformation, that are an intrinsic part of the process of emergence of innovations in individual innovators. The complete process of combination and transformation of previously unconnected ideas and knowledge has been deciphered in this research paper by using past research and rigorous empirical analysis as a base to explore the research question - How does knowledge dispersed in time gets converted into ICT innovations by individual technology innovators? Different individuals possess different stocks of knowledge and different individuals differ in the manner they process knowledge. What differentiate innovators from non-innovators are these differences in various cognitive processes involved in acquisition, assimilation, transformation and application of knowledge. But little is known about these diverse cognitive processes, especially with an individual's prior knowledge as a unit of analysis. Studies that explore and provide thorough assessment of the link between existing knowledge and innovation at an individual's cognitive level are scarce and much needed. This research paper rigorously explores, assesses and envisages the different knowledge combinations and knowledge conversion processes that are innate to the innovation emergence process. Methodological approaches that have been followed in this research paper can form an anchor point for further process level studies for future scholars. The use of information and communication technologies in the healthcare industry has been proven to improve patient care, enhance service quality, and increase productivity. Several medical institutions in the Philippines are still employing the traditional method of producing and managing important documents such as medication reports. This study evaluated the current charged medication report system of a general hospital in the country through causal analysis tools. Results showed that actions like pharmacists manually writing information and transporting the reports to another department were prone to errors and delays in the entire process. Moreover, a stream analysis revealed that the core problem of the inefficient system of producing the report led to deeper problems such as poor document organization and report errors. A medical information system called MedReS was developed using Microsoft Access to produce medical documents accurately and more efficiently. The proposed system streamlined data entry, information updates, and the encoding of receipts. It is also capable of managing the itemized prescriptions of admitted patients, lessen paper usage, accelerate processing time, and improve overall system efficiency and productivity of the hospital. The theory of the niche and concepts from time geography are used to create a framework for the study of interpersonal media---the cell-phone, land-line phone, instant messaging and text messaging as well as e-mail. One hundred forty-two college undergraduates completed a time/space diary for a randomly assigned week-day in which they recorded their contacts or "bundles" with members of their personal network. Analysis of the data show that interpersonal media coexist because they are differentiated from each other in their usage patterns. Given the state of inter-connectedness of the world today, and the associated pervasiveness of the internet, there are a growing number of ICT applications becoming available to end-users across all walks of life which are being used on a multitude of devices. However during this boom of application development, too few designers incorporate the user in the design process. Given the foregoing, this paper reports on an aspect of participatory empathetic user design. We argue that from a participatory design point of view, users who possess tacit knowledge and who may possess explicit knowledge as well, may be brought into the design space to work with the designer who already has a wealth of both knowledge types. Both tacit and explicit knowledge types have been debated in the extant literature. Fundamentally, Cook and Brown (1999: 385) believe that "tacit knowledge cannot be turned into explicit knowledge, nor can explicit knowledge be turned into tacit". We argue that the two forms of knowledge may be reciprocal during the process of participatory design. The paper thus lends support to Wynn and Williams (2012) who argue that the generation of new knowledge is the result of "... our interaction with the world," because the world and entities that constitute reality exist 'out there' independent of our human knowledge. We argue that knowledge is not only a belief of knowing and thinking but rather an ability to transform it into real action. The paper posits that tacit and explicit forms of knowledge are inextricably linked and that "knowledge is created and expanded through social interaction between tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge" using modes of 'knowledge conversion'. This paper presents a model for application empathetic design that describes how knowledge creation unfolds among co-design team thereby enriching the design outcome of the application. Design iterations result into dialogic interaction and participatory learning process which may be formal or informal. This paper proposes to produce a hybrid of best practices in the field of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). The aim is to empower the user to use a combination of multiple ICT best practices concurrently, leveraging off the strengths of some best practices to support the weakness of others. This goal would help organisations to solve the challenges faced when they need to get multiple standards of ICT best practices simultaneously, resulting in an enhanced integrated process. This paper focuses on the Service Level Agreement (SLA) process, following a "Best of Breed" approach on the four integrated best practices. The main contribution of our research is the enhanced process, which has taken into consideration a combination of multiple ICT best practices. By following the steps and using the proposed systematic way for building the new integrated process, the organizations will be able to follow the multiple best practices and pass the standard audit. With recent advances in computer vision, benefits and challenges related to the adoption of Information and Communications Technology ICT tools in the higher education systems, a retrieval process based on teachers' perspective have become a key component in achieving high efficiency survey queries. In this paper, it is proposed and developed software called, "Smart Survey System", supporting quick access to identify the benefits and challenges related to the adoption of ICT tools in the higher education systems. The proposed system applies data analytics as a backbone, which uses PHP-WAMP server and MySQL database structure. This paper dwells on the analysis of a set of survey data for around 350 teachers. This paper addresses the virtual hackathons as ICT-enabled boundary spanning arrangements (IBSA) and their knowledge integration in the municipal innovation management context. Specifically, it focuses on the boundaries and boundary objects for boundary-bridging in virtual hackathons. Therefore, this paper presents a case study in a Swedish multi-disciplinary municipality carrying out an intra-organizational hackathon in virtual collocation for public sector innovation creation. As a result, the paper reveals the discovered boundaries in five boundary categories: individual, domainspecific, task-oriented, spatial, and temporal. Furthermore, the multiple boundary objects utilized for boundary-bridging in a virtual hackathon are presented. Moreover, the paper illustrates the innovation output of four virtual hackathon teams. Thus, the results clarify the virtual hackathon as IBSAs. The paper contributes to the literature on hackathons as IBSA as well as knowledge integration, particularly in terms of boundary objects in virtual innovation contests in municipal organization context. The implementation of information and communication technologies (ICTs) is gaining a significant impetus in modern environment. Thus, the ICTs have found their place in the development of agriculture and rural areas. Technological innovations, such as the application of sensors, robots, drones and business process automation, are increasingly being implemented in agricultural practice and the organization of life and work in rural communities in many countries. However, there are certain limitations in boosting the introduction of modern ICTs, despite the fact that their application in agriculture and rural economy brings numerous economic and non-economic benefits. Accordingly, the subject of research in this paper is the importance of digitalization of rural areas and development of precision agriculture. The aim of the research is to point to the advantages of this approach to the development of agriculture and rural communities, as well as the possibilities of its application in practice.
