The article presents information about the International Journal of Hospitality Management's Annual Prize for Best Paper 2004. The award was established in 2003 to recognize and acknowledge exceptional and original contributions to the field. The prize has a value of U.S. $3,000. The winning paper is selected on the basis of the following criteria: originality, relevance to the field, significance and potential impact, contribution to theory and clarity. The winner of the Annual Prize for Best Paper 2004 is Dr. Glenn Ross of James Cook University's School of Business. His paper entitled "Ethics, Trust and Expectations Regarding the Treatment of Disabled Staff Within a Tourism/Hospitality Industry Context" was published in the December 2004 issue of the "International Journal of Hospitality Management."

In 2012, the American Pharmacists Association Foundation (APhAF) recognized 17 women and three organizations for their work as pioneers and leaders among female pharmacists. In 2022, the APhAF selected ten additional leaders among contemporary women in American pharmacy to be honored in the Women in Pharmacy Exhibit and Conference Room on the top floor of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) headquarters building in Washington, D.C. These ten leaders gathered at a symposium in their honor in October 2022 at APhA headquarters. This paper summarizes the accomplishments of the ten contemporary women and documents their comments at the symposium, where they discussed their perspectives on practice innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, philanthropy, community service, and mentorship. Abstract The Arctic issues are no longer only of concern to the inter-Arctic, as regards regional matters, rather, they involve the interests of States outwith the Arctic and the overall interests of the international community. In 2018, China issued a White Paper on China's Arctic Policies, which is the first White Paper from the Chinese Government, concerning the Arctic Region. As a proactive actor in Arctic affairs, China is keen to participate in affairs concerning the Arctic, in seeking to build the, 'Ice Silk Road'. In May 2018, Dalian Maritime University organised the 5th Sino-Canadian Exchange on the Arctic, to bring together academics and policy makers, to discuss various issues in this field of research and concern. This brief report provides details of the key issues discussed during the conference which may assist in developing a better understanding, in order to achieve good Arctic governance. The knowledge sharing among researchers, decision makers and practitioners becomes necessary for understanding new transportation trends and incorporating innovative transportation strategies in urban planning according to the economic competitiveness and business needs. The paper presents the tools and activities used in the frame of the “Enhancing excellence and innovation capacity in sustainable transport interchanges” (ALLIANCE) project in order to make knowledge sharing among project partners and stakeholders effective and sustainable. The 4th International Symposium for Arctic Research (ISAR-4) with the theme of “Rapid change of the Arctic climate system and its global influence” was held as the science symposium of the Arctic Science Summit Week 2015, together with the 3rd International Conference for Arctic Research Planning (ICARPIII) with the theme of “Integrating Arctic Research: a Roadmap for the Future,” in Toyama, Japan, from April 27 to April 30, 2015. There were 340 oral and 177 poster presentations, totalling 511 presentations. Abstract: The recent report of the National Research Council of the US National Academies “Strengthening Forensic Science in the United States: a Path Forward” found evidence that the level of scientific development and evaluation varies substantially among the forensic science disciplines. In this paper the status of trace evidence will be reviewed from an international perspective with particular reference to case studies. The paper will argue that the trace evidence discipline needs to learn from past experience and that serious coordinated action is required at an international level if trace evidence is to continue to meet the standards expected of forensic science in the future. The paper concludes that it is vital that trace evidence remains a key component of forensic investigation due to its important role in addressing the ‘what happened’ question. Abstract: Randomized controlled studies have shown that cognitive-behavioral therapies are effective for treating various forms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), with most research focusing on combat or sexual-assault-related PTSD. A challenge currently facing researchers and practitioners is to develop specialized protocols for treating other forms of PTSD, such as PTSD arising from road traffic collisions (RTCs), which is commonly associated with chronic pain and sometimes with other problems such as head injury. The purpose of this case conference is to consider a case of RTC-related PTSD. Our opening paper describes the presenting features of the case. The subsequent commentaries discuss assessment, case conceptualization, and treatment issues. The concluding paper provides a synthesis of the commentators’ viewpoints, along with a description of the actual treatment and outcome, and a discussion of ways in which cognitive-behavioral treatments might be applied in similar cases. Abstract: It is predicted that in case of an influenza pandemic, there will be a significant gap between potentially available vaccine supply and international demand. This paved the way for a WHO Global Pandemic Influenza Action Plan (GAP) aiming at increasing the world''s production capacity for pandemic vaccine. In November 2006, six developing country manufacturers were awarded grants either to develop processes for production of inactivated or live attenuated seasonal and/or H5N1 influenza vaccines or for establishing filling facilities using imported antigens. In April 2009, spread of a new H1N1 influenza virus was identified which took a pandemic form. This paper gives an overview of influenza vaccine capacity building of developing country''s manufacturers identified in WHO''s GAP. Further, an account of developments at Serum Institute of India Limited (SIIL), one of recipients of WHO grant to develop pandemic influenza vaccine, are presented as a case study. Such initiatives have strengthened developing country vaccine manufacturers ability to respond to a pandemic situation in the future. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Ignoring the indirect effects of vaccination has led to two types of inaccuracies in cholera vaccine policy analysis in endemic settings. First, when herd protection is ignored, the social benefits and cost-effectiveness of vaccination programs are underestimated, such that the programs are rarely considered to be a wise use of scarce public health resources. Once vaccine herd protection is included, use of the vaccine can satisfy both social welfare objectives and benchmark cost effectiveness criteria. Second, design recommendations to implement programs considered most attractive without accounting for the effect of herd protection may not allow the capture of the greatest social benefits. The analysis summarized in this paper demonstrates that it is possible to account for herd protection in both cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit calculations. In the former case, however, it does pose significant interpretation challenges. When herd protection is incorporated into a cost-effectiveness model, cost-effectiveness measures such as costs per DALY avoided become a function of vaccination coverage. When this is the case, there is no obvious decision objective in a cost-effectiveness analysis. Cost-benefit metrics, on the other hand, provide a clear economic argument for when to pursue vaccination efforts and how to design them. More sophisticated measurements of the economic benefits of vaccination should therefore become standard practice when evaluating the potential of vaccination programs. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) frequently co-occurs with other conditions and symptoms that can complicate assessment and treatment. Of these, chronic musculoskeletal pain and related avoidance behaviors are amongst the most common and, unfortunately, the most often overlooked. In this paper we discuss issues that warrant consideration in developing and implementing a treatment plan that may maximize chances of successful outcome for GH, a patient with PTSD and chronic pain. Assessment strategies used in arriving at a case formulation are presented and, based on the emerging state-of-the-art, a tentative cognitive-behavioral treatment program targeting shared vulnerability for PTSD and chronic musculoskeletal pain is presented.
