This paper conducted a survey to examine the use of social networking sites by the students of KLE's LIngaraj College, Belagavi, Karnataka, India using a random sampling technique. A total of 100 replies were received, 50 from men and 50 from women. The results revealed that both male and female students made extensive use of WhatsApp. The majority of students expected to receive notifications of library activities, OPAC, and newspaper services via online platforms. The findings also show that, while social media is still a relatively new phenomenon, it is becoming an increasingly significant tool for students to communicate and socialize with their classmates. Students are also concerned about security and privacy.

The current investigation assesses research productivity within the Journal of Family Business Management, employing various bibliometric indicators. A total of 393 scientific publications, spanning the period from 2011 to 2023, were retrieved from the Scopus database through relevant keyword searches. The findings are presented in both tabular and graphical formats. Additionally, the study utilizes the VOSviewer© tool to conduct network visualization, exploring collaboration and relationships among authors, co-authors, countries, institutions, co-occurrence of keywords, and co-citation of cited references in the field of FBM.The results highlight a noticeable upward trend in publication activity over the past 13 years, with 393 scientific publications yielding 4008 citations and an average of 10.69 citations per publication. The United States and the United Kingdom emerge as the most prolific countries in publishing research within the field, while Australia and the United Kingdom produce the highest number of prolific authors. La Trobe Business School, Queen Margaret University, and Niccolò Cusano University are identified as the top three productive organizations contributing to the Journal of Family Business Management.The network visualization analysis further reveals collaborative efforts among authors, countries, and organizations. Co-occurrence of keywords is reported, with terms such as family business, family firms, succession planning, and entrepreneurship standing out as frequently used keywords with significant link strength. These findings provide valuable insights into the landscape of research in family business management.

Erosion and sediment-related problems are well documented globally and continue to warrant further scientific investigation, as well as improved policies and management strategies to protect soil and water resources. The International Commission on Continental Erosion (ICCE) has long been a very active commission of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) focussing on progressing scientific understanding of erosion and sediment systems. This paper provides a brief overview of its main scientific foci, examples of previous contributions to scientific conferences and finally, concludes by paying tribute to two key former members of the international scientific community engaged with its remit. In 2011, the XVI World Meteorological Congress Resolution 16 gives priority to the rescue and digitization of climate archives and to promote global and regional initiatives to collaborate on DARE (data rescue) and the exchange of scientific knowledge and related technological advances. The Congress urged Members to make every effort to prevent the deterioration of climate-relevant data and to make these data available to support climate change analyses and relevant climate services. In the framework of operational and scientific research actions around the updating of hydrological standards in West Africa (Actualisation des Normes hydrologiques en Afrique de l'Ouest – ActNAO Project) and in response to the WMO call, we used the NUNIEAU software (NUmérisation de NIveaux d'EAU en mer ou en rivières – free software from CEREMA) which allows the digitization of different types of paper documents by automatic recognition. This software has been used on rainfall pluviograms in Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire. The use of this tool allows rainfall analysis on intraday time steps, a time step that is very useful for the knowledge and management of flash-flood events in small basins, especially urban basins. Illustrated by a few scientific results, access to these data, which remains very limited in West Africa, opens up fields of analysis that are not only disciplinary but also, and above all, inter or transdisciplinary. Rapid population increase, industrialization and pollution are putting a strain on available and diminishing freshwater resources. Recent climate projections suggest a drop of up to 10 % in precipitation in most of Southern Africa by 2050. The main aim of this paper is to assess the impact of climate change on water resources in a semi-arid river basin in South Africa using two downscaling approaches: statistical downscaling (SDE) and dynamic downscaling (CORDEX) approaches. Both SDE and CORDEX data were derived from the GCM simulations of the Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project Phase-5 (CMIP5) and across two greenhouse gas emission scenarios known as Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) 4.5 and 8.5 with a spatial resolution 25 km × 25 km for SDE and 50 km × 50 km for CORDEX. Four GCM models were used for both approaches. SWAT hydrological model was run using these data for a period of 2020 to 2050. Varied results were obtained depending on the type of climate model used, but generally, the trends were similar in most cases. For SDE approach, the multi-model average showed a possible decrease in precipitation (by 14 %), a decrease in water yield (by 15 %) and an increase in potential evapotranspiration (by 10 %). For CORDEX data, the multi-model average showed a possible decrease in precipitation (up to - 3 %), a decrease in water yield (up to - 13 %) and an increase in potential evapotranspiration (ET) (up to + 22 %). The latter is indicative of possible drought spells between rainy events. The SDE approach showed much more pronounced decrease of precipitation and water yield compared to the CORDEX approach. This difference could be attributed to the difference in spatial resolution of the two downscaling approaches. This paper presents the RDSAR, SAR/SARin & FF-SAR altimetry processors available in the ESA Altimetry Virtual Lab (AVL) hosted on the EarthConsole® platform. An overview on processors and features as well as preliminary analyses using AVL output data are reported to demonstrate the quality of the ESA Altimetry Virtual Lab altimetry services. In this paper, the Global Surface Water Explorer (GSWE) was combined with bathymetric and historical meteorological data to quantify water balance during the period 1984–2020 in the Primera de Palos freshwater lagoon (Southwest Spain). This allowed us, through a water balance approach, to estimate all water inputs and outputs to analyse the hydrological changes in the lagoon. The results showed high fluctuations with seasonal changes marked by the climatic regime during the first two decades of the study period. After this initial period, water extension remained stable above 70 % of the maximum lagoon extent. Thus, the natural hydrological regime of the lagoon was modified by water inputs from irrigation return, which are difficult to quantify. Thanks to a water balance approach, these irrigation returns were quantified as the closure term of the water balance. Three scenarios of irrigation return inputs can be defined, 4500, 1700, and 500 m 3 d -1 , depending on the cropping season. The use of remote sensing combined with bathymetric and meteorological data can provide the knowledge to support better informed water-management decision-making, although it may have some limitations in dry periods related to image processing in border data. Conflict over water resources emerges from complex interactions among biophysical, social, and economic processes operating at multiple scales. The concomitant use of surface and groundwater managed for multiple uses is a classic coping strategy to manage the water scarcity yet a relevant example of such conflict. Managing these resources is thus a dynamic decision-making process involving actors with different perceptions of the situation, who adapt different strategies to satisfy their objectives and interests. This paper presents the results of an effort to address these conflicts through reinforcing the adaptive capacity of different actors to cope with water scarcity in a multi-scale irrigation system. The study site focuses on the irrigated area of Zaouiet Jedidi in Northeast Tunisia. This region is characterized by an intensive irrigated agriculture, mostly through an excessive pumping of groundwater resources. Individual strategies to face the water scarcity are dominating leading to a rapid deterioration of the groundwater resources. Irrigation through individual and informal wells is an example of such strategies. As the demand for agricultural and urban water has concurrently continued to develop, the groundwater has continued to drop. Despite the State's efforts to increase the water supply to the region through the transfer of surface water from the dams of northwestern Tunisia, the overexploitation of groundwater resources exceeded 200 %. A participatory process was implemented to initiate a process of interaction and coordination between the different stakeholders involved in the management of the irrigated area. We analyzed to what extent and by what mechanisms, a participatory problem-solving process can facilitate the emergence of collection action to face the water scarcity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Classical hydraulic approaches of urban floods consider buildings as obstructions to water flow, without considering the flow exchanges between streets and buildings. Since the hydraulic behavior within the building is not considered, there exists a gap on the available information regarding the fine characterization of material damage and human exposure within buildings. Because of this gap, damage estimation usually assumes that the floodwater depths inside and outside the buildings are the same. However, as flood damage functions are very elastic with respect to floodwater depth, especially in the lower values, relatively small differences in water depth can lead to large differences in the assessment of material damage. Not considering street-building flow exchanges might be introducing a bias in the estimation of property damage. In this paper, we propose to analyse how fine-scale hydraulic and economic modelling approaches considering street-building flows can influence the characterization of material damage at a larger scale (district). To do so, we couple a hydraulic model with an economic model to simulate water depths and to estimate flood damage under: (i) a classical approach using non-porous buildings and (ii) an alternative approach explicitly considering street-building flow exchanges.
