In the context of open distributed systems, the ability to coordinate the agents coupled with the possibility to control the actions they perform is important. As open systems need to be scalable, capabilities may provide the best-fit solution to overcome the problems caused by the loosely controlled coordination of Linda -like systems. Acting as a ‘ticket', capabilities can be given to the chosen agents, granting them different privileges over different kinds of data—thus providing the system with a finer control on objects' visibility to agents. One drawback of capabilities is that they can only be applied to named objects—something that is not universally applicable in Linda since, in contrast to tuple-spaces, tuples are nameless. This paper demonstrates how the advantages of capabilities can be extended to tuples, with the introduction of multicapabilities, which generalise capabilities to collections of objects. The article focuses on the impact of élite Victorian gender ideology on the modern understanding of household activities in other cultures. Archaeologists have created distorted constructions of past cultures by selecting and interpreting evidence to validate an assumed gender dichotomy. Starting in the 1970s third-wave feminist analyses have revealed how a self-reinforcing structure of Victorian-derived androcentrism deeply permeates all aspects of western culture, including anthropology, archaeology, scientific epistemology, language, and values. Androcentrism can be most simply defined as an ideology of sexist prejudice resulting from a male-centered point of view. In androcentric ideology men are identified as public, cultural, rational, active, powerful, superior and naturally dominant over women. Androcentric archaeology and anthropology are fundamentally political in supporting the oppression of women in the present by creating partial distorted constructions of cultures that represent male dominance and female subordination as universal, natural, and inevitable.
