A biography of James Young, a businessman, journalist and politician in Ontario, is presented. Born in Galt on May 24, 1835, Young studied in the public schools of his native town. At the age of 16, Young started to learn the printing profession. Particular focus is given to the success of the journal "Reformer" under his management. In 1867, Young was elected by the Reform party of South Waterloo as their candidate for the House of Commons. Particular focus is given to his principal speeches in parliament, along with his February 11, 1858 marriage.
