Abstract Materials with field-tunable polarization are of broad interest to condensed matter sciences and solid-state device technologies. Here, using hydrogen (H) donor doping, we modify the room temperature metallic phase of a perovskite nickelate NdNiO3 into an insulating phase with both metastable dipolar polarization and space-charge polarization. We then demonstrate transient negative differential capacitance in thin film capacitors. The space-charge polarization caused by long-range movement and trapping of protons dominates when the electric field exceeds the threshold value. First-principles calculations suggest the polarization originates from the polar structure created by H doping. We find that polarization decays within ~1 second which is an interesting temporal regime for neuromorphic computing hardware design, and we implement the transient characteristics in a neural network to demonstrate unsupervised learning. These discoveries open new avenues for designing ferroelectric materials and electrets using light-ion doping.

Abstract This paper describes the 3D printing of a ternary composite of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and nanoparticles of iron oxide and barium titanate. The composite was printed using a commercially available 3D printer. Thermal curing of the composite during printing allowed for overall low process times of a few minutes. Scanning electron microscopy indicated uniform composite layers. The resulting composite films showed ferromagnetic behaviour, and applicability in magnetic actuation and piezoelectric energy harvesting.

BackgroundOmics has emerged as a promising biological science to shed light on the etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC). At present, although research on the omics of UC has drawn global attention, there is still a lack of bibliometric analysis in this field. This study aimed to access the trends and hotspots of omics in UC research.MethodPublications related to omics in UC from 1 January 2000 to 15 October 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the online bibliometric analysis platform “Bibliometrix” were adopted to extract and visualize information.ResultsA total of 385 publications were finally included and the annual number of publications fluctuated. The trend in publications increased rapidly after 2019. The United States showed its dominant position in several publications, total citations, and international collaborations. The top five research organizations for publications on the research of omics in UC were Harvard Medical School, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Karolinska Institutet, the Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Massachusetts General Hospital. Ashwin Ananthakrishnan from the Massachusetts General Hospital was the most productive author, and Séverine Vermeire from the Catholic University of Leuven was co-cited most often. Inflammatory bowel disease was the most popular and co-cited journal in this field. The reference with citation bursts and trend topics showed that “ulcerative colitis,” “inflammatory bowel disease,” “microbiome,” “transcriptomics,” “genomics,” “metabolomics,” “proteomics,” “dysbiosis,” “biomarkers,” “loci,” and “therapy” are currently research hotspots.ConclusionOur study presents several important insights into the research trends and developments in the field of omics in UC, which will provide key information for further research.

Abstract Aim To explore the best non‐pharmaceutical interventions for improving the behavioural and psychological symptoms in elders with dementia. Design Bayesian network meta‐analysis. Methods A comprehensive electronic literature search was performed in five English databases and four Chinese databases to identify relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that were published up to 31 October 2019. Results A total of 41 RCTs were included in this network meta‐analysis involving 5 different non‐pharmacological interventions: therapeutic recreation (TC), reminiscence therapy (RT), behaviour therapy (BT), massage therapy (MT) and individualized nursing (IN).The results of network meta‐analysis showed that individualized nursing was the best in improving depression, cognitive function, and activities of daily living of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. Behaviour therapy was the best in improving anxiety symptoms. Reminiscence therapy was the best in improving neuropsychiatric symptoms.

BackgroundIt is well known that regular physical exercise has associated benefits; yet, participation remains suboptimal. Mobile health (mHealth) has become an indispensable medium to deliver behavior change interventions, and there is a growing interest in the gamification apps in mHealth to promote physical activity (PA) participation. Gamification could use game design elements (such as points, leaderboards, and progress bars), and it has the potential to increase motivation for PA and engagement. However, mHealth-based gamification interventions are still emerging, and little is known about the application status and efficacy of such interventions. ObjectiveThis systematic review aims to investigate gamification apps in mHealth for improving PA levels and simultaneously summarize the impact of gamification interventions on PA participation. MethodsWe searched PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, CINAHL (EBSCO host), and IEEE Xplore from inception to December 20, 2020. Original empirical research exploring the effects of gamification interventions on PA participation was included. The papers described at least one outcome regarding exercise or PA participation, which could be subjective self-report or objective indicator measurement. Of note, we excluded studies about serious games or full-fledged games. ResultsOf 2944 studies identified from the database search, 50 (1.69%) were included, and the information was synthesized. The review revealed that gamification of PA had been applied to various population groups and broadly distributed among young people but less distributed among older adults and patients with a disease. Most of the studies (30/50, 60%) combined gamification with wearable devices to improve PA behavior change, and 50% (25/50) of the studies used theories or principles for designing gamified PA interventions. The most frequently used game elements were goal-setting, followed by progress bars, rewards, points, and feedback. This review demonstrated that gamification interventions could increase PA participation; however, the results were mixed, and modest changes were attained, which could be attributed to the heterogeneity across studies. ConclusionsOverall, this study provides an overview of the existing empirical research in PA gamification interventions and provides evidence for the efficacy of gamification in enhancing PA participation. High-quality empirical studies are needed in the future to assess the efficacy of a combination of gamification and wearable activity devices to promote PA, and further exploration is needed to investigate the optimal implementation of these features of game elements and theories to enhance PA participation.

Introduction The benefits of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) on the reduction of cardiac and all-cause mortality are well documented. However, adherence remains suboptimal in China. It is clear that traditional CR does not meet the needs of many eligible patients and innovation is required to improve its application. Home-based CR (HBCR) is a cost-effective method that may be a valuable alternative for many individuals in China. In HBCR, it is often difficult to maintain an exercise intensity that is both effective and within safe limits, factors that are essential for patient safety. Mobile health interventions have the potential to overcome these obstacles and may be efficacious in improving adherence. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether an Intelligent Exercise Rehabilitation Management System (IERMS)-based HBCR could improve adherence to CR and to assess the effects on exercise capacity, mental health, self-efficacy, quality of life and lifestyle-related risk factors.Methods and analysis We propose a single-blinded, two-arm, randomised controlled crossover study of 70 patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Participants will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to one of the two groups. Patients in group 1 will receive the IERMS intervention together with usual care for the first 6 weeks and usual care for the last 6 weeks, while patients assigned to group 2 will receive usual care for the first 6 weeks and will use IERMS in the last 6 weeks. The primary outcome is adherence to the programme and secondary outcomes include exercise capacity, psychological well-being, quality of life, self-efficacy and lifestyle-related risk factors. All secondary outcomes will be measured at baseline, 6 weeks and 12 weeks.Ethics and dissemination This study has been approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee of the School of Nursing, Jilin University (HREC 2019120901). The results will be published in peer-reviewed journals and at conferences.Trial registration number ChiCTR1900028182; Pre-results.

Predicting city-scale taxi origin-destination (OD) flows takes an important role in understanding passengers' travel demands as well as managing taxi operation and scheduling. But the complex spatial dependencies and temporal dynamics make this problem challenging. In this paper, a hybrid deep neural network prediction model based on convolutional LSTM (ConvLSTM) is proposed. For improving the prediction accuracy, the implicit correlation between travel time and OD flow is explored and they are combined as inputs of the prediction model. Moreover, in order to realize OD flows prediction at the road network level, and solve the problem that grid-based representation method cannot distinguish traffic flow at different heights, such as in multi-layer overpass areas, this paper presents a grid and road nested method to represent ODs. With the time of day partitioned into time slots, OD flows are extracted and predicted in both spatial and temporal domain. In the experiment, real taxi data are used to verify the proposed model and prediction method fully. And the experimental results show that the proposed model can effectively predict city-wide taxi OD flow, and outperforms the typical time sequence models and existing deep neural network models.

The urban traffic flow prediction is a significant issue in the intelligent transportation system. In consideration of nonlinear and spatial-temporal features of urban traffic data, we propose a deep hybrid neural network improved by greedy algorithm for urban traffic flow prediction with taxi GPS trace. The proposed deep neural network model first combines the convolutional neural network (CNN), which extracts the spatial features, with the long short term memory (LSTM), which captures the temporal information, to predict urban traffic flow. Then, the proposed model is trained by a greedy policy to short time consumption and improves accuracy when a network goes deeper. Experimental results with real taxis GPS trajectory data from Xi'an city show that the improved deep hybrid CNN-LSTM model can achieve higher prediction accuracy and shorter time consumption compared with existing methods.

Objective: To explore the developmental toxicity and the potential toxicological mechanism of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) on zebrafish embryos/larvae. Methods: Mortality, malformations and increased apoptosis induced by safflower were assessed in zebrafish embryos from 6 to 96 hours post-fertilization. Enzymes and genes in the anti-oxidative and apoptotic pathways were also assayed. Results: The lethal concentration 50 of safflower to zebrafish embryos was 345.6 mg/L. Hatching inhibition, abnormal spontaneous movement, depressed heart rate, pericardial edema, yolk sac edema, abnormal head-trunk angle, inhibition of melanin release, enlarged yolk, and short body length were observed in safflower-treated zebrafish. Additional apoptotic cells mainly appeared around the heart. Safflower exposure changed the activities of defense enzymes (SOD↑, CAT↑, MDA↑, GPX without trend), increased MDA content, decreased caspase-3 activity, and altered mRNA levels of related genes (ogg1↓, p53↓, Cu/Zn-sod↑, Mn-sod↓, cat↓, gpx↑). Conclusion: Safflower exhibits developmental toxicity for zebrafish embryos/larvae. The developing heart was speculated as the target organ of toxicity. Oxidative stress and increased apoptosis have roles in the developmental toxicity of safflower. This article provides a novel method to research the teratogenicity and possible mechanisms of toxicity of traditional Chinese medicines that are prohibited or contraindicated in pregnant women.

BACKGROUNDS:GSTM1 and GSTT1 are involved in the detoxification of carcinogens such as smoking by-products, and polymorphisms in these two genes with a result of loss of enzyme activity may increase risk of carcinogenesis. Although many epidemiological studies have investigated the association between GSTM1 or GSTT1 null genotype and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), the results remain conflicting. To elucidate the overall association of GSTM1, GSTT1 and HNSCC, we included all available studies and performed this meta-analysis. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS:A dataset including 42 articles for GSTM1, 32 articles for GSTT1, and 15 articles for GSTM1 and GSTT1 in combination were identified by a search in PubMed. Associations beween HNSCC and polymorphisms of GSTM1 and GSTT1 alone and in combination were analysed by software RevMan 5.1. Stratification analysis on ethnicity and smoking status, sensitivity analysis, heterogeneity among studies and their publication bias were also tested. Association was found in overall analysis between HNSCC and GSTM1 and GSTT1 null genotype. Stratified by ethnicity, we found increased risks of HNSCC in carriers with GSTM1 null genotype in Asian, GSTT1 null genotype in South American, and dual null genotype in European and Asian. When stratified by smoking, a more significant association of GSTM1 null genotype with HNSCC risk was observed in smokers. CONCLUSIONS/SIGNIFICANCE:This meta-analysis presented additional evidence of the association between GSTM1 and GSTT1 polymorphisms and HNSCC risk.

Abstract Background Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a globally prevalent condition that has a significant impact on morbidity and mortality rates. As a result, there is growing interest in understanding its pathogenetic mechanisms, particularly genetic susceptibility. To explore the potential genes that may cause RA, we conducted a comprehensive Mendelian randomization analysis and co‐localization based on data from large sample size genome‐wide association studies. Methods We used two transcriptome datasets to identify expression quantitative trait loci as the exposure and employed genome‐wide association studies data from the FinnGen study as the outcome. We then performed co‐localization analysis to confirm that the expression quantitative trait loci and RA share causal genetic variants. Abstract Backgroud Anti-melanoma differentiation-associated protein 5 antibody-positive dermatomyositis (anti-MDA5-positvie DM) is a subtype of dermatomyositis with a poor prognosis, characterized by rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (RP-ILD). The study aims to investigate the significance of serum cytokines profiles and peripheral lymphocytes in predicting prognoses of anti-MDA5-positvie DM with RP-ILD. Furthermore, it seeks to analyze longitudinal data of lymphocytes during hospitalization to identify distinct trajectories and cluster patients accordingly. Methods A total of 168 patients with anti-MDA5-positive DM were enrolled in this retrospective study from two cohorts. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were conducted to determine the predictors of 6-month all-cause mortality and RP-ILD. Group-based trajectory modeling (GBTM) was employed to model the trajectories of longitudinal peripheral lymphocytes. Mitochondria are the main source of energy for cellular activity. Their functional damage or deficiency leads to cellular deterioration, which in turn triggers autophagic reactions. Taking mitochondrial autophagy as a starting point, the present review explored the mechanisms of duodenal abnormalities in detail, including mucosal barrier damage, release of inflammatory factors, and disruption of intracellular signal transduction. We summarized the key roles of mitochondrial autophagy in the abnormal development of the duodenum and examined the in-depth physiological and pathological mechanisms involved, providing a comprehensive theoretical basis for understanding the pathogenesis of functional dyspepsia. At present, it has been confirmed that an increase in the eosinophil count and mast cell degranulation in the duodenum can trigger visceral hypersensitive reactions and cause gastrointestinal motility disorders. In the future, it is necessary to continue exploring the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways of mitochondrial autophagy in duodenal abnormalities. A deeper understanding of mitochondrial autophagy provides important references for developing treatment strategies for functional dyspepsia, thereby improving clinical efficacy and patient quality of life.

With the development of Artificial intelligence (AI) technology, more and more AI-based smart devices are being applied in the service. Although this brings many benefits to enterprises and consumers, AI’s rapid development and application also induces consumers’ anxiety. This negative emotion affects consumers’ cognitive decision-making process. However, previous studies have focused more on the impact of positive emotion induced by AI and less on negative emotion induced by AI. Therefore, this paper starts from the negative emotion induced by AI and builds an influencing factor model of unmanned smart hotels (USH) resistance guided by feelings-as-information theory (FIT) and innovation resistance theory (IRT). Based on 355 questionnaires, the data are empirically tested. The results show that surveillance anxiety and delegation anxiety induced by AI positively impact functional barriers evaluation of USH, and functional barriers evaluation of USH has a positive impact on USH resistance. This paper enriches the research results in AI and USH by exploring the factors affecting USH resistance and providing suggestions for USH’s future development.

Although understanding the wetting behavior of solid surfaces is crucial for numerous engineering applications, the mechanisms driving the motion of Wenzel drops on rough surfaces remain incompletely clarified. In this study, the contact angle and contact angle hysteresis of Wenzel drops on superhydrophobic surfaces are investigated from a thermodynamic perspective. The free energy of the system is theoretically analyzed, thereby determining the equilibrium contact angle. Based on the sessile drop method, the relationship between the free energy barrier and the drop volume is calculated quantitatively, enabling the determination of advancing and receding contact angles under zero free energy barrier conditions. The theoretical calculations agree well with the experimental data. These findings enhance the understanding of the interfacial interactions between Wenzel drops and superhydrophobic surfaces.

Summary: The pituitary is the central endocrine gland with effects on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). However, it is not clear whether the pituitary responds to free fatty acid (FFA) toxicity, thus dysregulating hepatic lipid metabolism. Here, we demonstrate that decreased prolactin (PRL) levels are involved in the association between FFA and MASLD based on a liver biospecimen-based cohort. Moreover, overloaded FFAs decrease serum PRL levels, thus promoting liver steatosis in mice with both dynamic diet intervention and stereotactic pituitary FFA injection. Mechanistic studies show that excessive FFA sensing in pituitary lactotrophs inhibits the synthesis and secretion of PRL in a cell-autonomous manner. Notably, inhibiting excessive lipid uptake using pituitary stereotaxic virus injection or a specific drug delivery system effectively ameliorates hepatic lipid accumulation by improving PRL levels. Targeted inhibition of pituitary FFA sensing may be a potential therapeutic target for liver steatosis.

Fatty infiltration denotes the anomalous accrual of adipocytes in non-adipose tissue, thereby generating toxic substances with the capacity to impede the ordinary physiological functions of various organs. With aging, the musculoskeletal system undergoes pronounced degenerative alterations, prompting heightened scrutiny regarding the contributory role of fatty infiltration in its pathophysiology. Several studies have demonstrated that fatty infiltration affects the normal metabolism of the musculoskeletal system, leading to substantial tissue damage. Nevertheless, a definitive and universally accepted generalization concerning the comprehensive effects of fatty infiltration on the musculoskeletal system remains elusive. As a result, this review summarizes the characteristics of different types of adipose tissue, the pathological mechanisms associated with fatty infiltration in bone, muscle, and the entirety of the musculoskeletal system, examines relevant clinical diseases, and explores potential therapeutic modalities. This review is intended to give researchers a better understanding of fatty infiltration and to contribute new ideas to the prevention and treatment of clinical musculoskeletal diseases.

Abstract This was a single-arm, multicenter phase 2 clinical trial (ChiCTR1900021726) involving advanced squamous non-small cell lung cancer (sq-NSCLC) patients undergoing 2 cycles of nab-paclitaxel/carboplatin and sintilimab (anti-PD-1), followed by sintilimab maintenance therapy. The median progression-free survival (PFS) was 11.4 months (95% CI: 6.7-18.1), which met the pre-specified primary endpoint. Secondary endpoints included objective response rate reaching 70.5% and a disease control rate of 93.2%, with a median duration of response of 13.6 months [95% CI: 7.0–not evaluable (NE)]. The median overall survival was 27.2 months (95% CI: 20.2–NE) with treatment-related adverse events grades ≥3 occurring in 10.9% of patients. Predefined exploratory endpoints comprised relationships between biomarkers and treatment efficacy, and the association between circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) dynamics and PFS. Biomarker analysis revealed that the breast cancer gene 2, BMP/Retinoic Acid Inducible Neural Specific 3, F-box/WD repeat-containing protein 7, tyrosine-protein kinase KIT and retinoblastoma 1 abnormalities led to shorter PFS, while ctDNA negative at baseline or clearance at 2 cycles of treatment was associated with longer PFS (18.1 vs. 4.3 months). Taken together, sintilimab in combination with 2 cycles of nab-paclitaxel/carboplatin treatment produced encouraging PFS and better tolerability as first-line treatment for advanced sq-NSCLC.

Background: This study aims to determine the efficacy and safety profile of aumolertinib in the real-word treatment setting for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients harboring epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations.Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 173 EGFR-mutated advanced NSCLC patients who received aumolertinib treatment at Henan Cancer Hospital from April 2020 to December 2022. Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were evaluated using Kaplan–Meier survival curves, while a Cox regression model was used for multifactorial analysis and prognostic factor assessment.Results: Among patients administered first-line aumolertinib (n = 77), the objective remission rate (ORR) of 77.92% was observed, along with a disease control rate (DCR) of 100%. The median progression-free survival (mPFS) was 24.97 months, which did not reach the median overall survival (mOS). The patients treated with aumolertinib after progression on prior EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy (n = 96) exhibited an ORR of 46.88%, a DCR of 89.58%, an mPFS of 15.17 months, and an mOS of 21.27 months. First-line treatment multivariate Cox regression analysis demonstrated a statistically significant impact of elevated creatine kinase on PFS (p = 0.016) and a similar significant influence of co-mutation on OS (p = 0.034). Furthermore, subsequent-line treatment multivariate Cox regression analysis showed a statistically significant impact of elevated creatine kinase on median PFS (p = 0.026) and a significant effect on the number of metastatic organs (p = 0.017), co-mutation (p = 0.035), and elevated creatine kinase (p = 0.014) on median OS.Conclusion: Aumolertinib has shown clinical significance and can safely be used in the real-world setting for patients with EGFR mutation-positive NSCLC.

Accommodating multiple tasks within a tiny metasurface unit cell without them interfering with each other is a significant challenge. In this paper, an electromagnetic (EM) wave modulation metasurface capable of reflection, transmission, and absorption is proposed. This multitasking capability is achieved through a cleverly designed multi-layer structure comprising an EM Wave Shield Layer (ESL), a Polarization Modulation Layer (PML), and a Bottom Plate Layer (BPL). The functionality can be arbitrarily switched by embedding control materials within the structure. Depending on external excitation conditions, the proposed metasurface can realize reflection-type co-planar polarization to cross-polarization conversion, transmission-type electromagnetically induced transparency-like (EIT-like) modes, and broadband absorption. Notably, all tasks operate approximately within the same operating frequency band, and their performance can be regulated by the intensity of external excitation. Additionally, the operating principle of the metasurface is analyzed through impedance matching, an oscillator coupling model, and surface current distribution. This metasurface design offers a strategy for integrated devices with multiple functionalities.

Mitochondria plays a role in cell differentiation and apoptosis processes. Maintaining mitochondrial function is critical, and this involves various aspects of mitochondrial quality control such as protein homeostasis, biogenesis, dynamics, and mitophagy. Osteoporosis, a metabolic bone disorder, primarily arises from two factors: the dysregulation between lipogenic and osteogenic differentiation of aging bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, and the imbalance between osteoblast-mediated bone formation and osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. Mitochondrial quality control has the potential to mitigate or even reverse the effects. Among the Sirtuin family, consisting of seven Sirtuins (SIRT1-7), SIRT1-SIRT6 play a crucial role in maintaining mitochondrial quality control. Additionally, SIRT1, SIRT3, SIRT6, and SIRT7 are directly involved in normal bone development and homeostasis by modulating bone cells. However, the precise mechanism by which these Sirtuins exert their effects remains unclear. This article reviews the impact of various aspects of mitochondrial quality control on osteoporosis, focusing on how SIRT1, SIRT3, and SIRT6 can improve osteoporosis by regulating mitochondrial protein homeostasis, biogenesis, and mitophagy. Furthermore, we provide an overview of the current state of clinical and preclinical drugs that can activate Sirtuins to improve osteoporosis. Specific Sirtuin-activating compounds are effective, but further studies are needed. The findings of this study may offer valuable insights for future research on osteoporosis and the development of clinical prevention and therapeutic target strategies.

Abstract Background The aims of the study were to evaluate potential differences among first-line treatment for EGFR mutant (m+) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with brain metastasis in China and to identify the factors influencing survival outcomes. Methods In this retrospective study, 172 EGFRm + patients with advanced NSCLC who received a 1st generation EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) were divided into 4 groups: A, EGFR-TKI (n = 84); B, EGFR-TKI + pemetrexed + cisplatin/carboplatin chemotherapy (CT) (n = 55); C, EGFR-TKI + bevacizumab (n = 15); and D, EGFR-TKI + pemetrexed + cisplatin/carboplatin CT + bevacizumab (n = 18). Intracranial and extracranial progression-free survival (PFS), the overall survival (OS), objective remission rates (ORRs) and adverse events were analyzed. Results Intracranial PFS of groups C + D was longer than for groups A + B (18.9 m vs. 11.0 m, P = 0.027). Extracranial PFS were longer in group B in comparison with group A (13.0 m vs. 11.5 m, P = 0.039) and in groups C + D compared to groups A + B (18.9 m vs. 11.9 m, P = 0.008). Median OS in groups A and B were 27.9 m and 24.4 m, respectively, while groups C and D have not yet achieved median OS. Significant difference was found in intracranial ORR between groups A + B vs. C + D (31.0% vs. 65.2%, P = 0.002). Most patients suffered grade 1–2 treatment-related adverse events, which were relieved soon after symptomatic treatment. Conclusions First-generation EGFR-TKI + bevacizumab treatment outperformed other regimens in EGFRm + NSCLC patients with brain metastasis. The therapy improved the control and delayed progression of intracranial lesions and prolonged survival times.

Introduction The benefits of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) on the reduction of cardiac and all-cause mortality are well documented. However, adherence remains suboptimal in China. It is clear that traditional CR does not meet the needs of many eligible patients and innovation is required to improve its application. Home-based CR (HBCR) is a cost-effective method that may be a valuable alternative for many individuals in China. In HBCR, it is often difficult to maintain an exercise intensity that is both effective and within safe limits, factors that are essential for patient safety. Mobile health interventions have the potential to overcome these obstacles and may be efficacious in improving adherence. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether an Intelligent Exercise Rehabilitation Management System (IERMS)-based HBCR could improve adherence to CR and to assess the effects on exercise capacity, mental health, self-efficacy, quality of life and lifestyle-related risk factors. Methods and analysis We propose a single-blinded, two-arm, randomised controlled crossover study of 70 patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Participants will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to one of the two groups. Patients in group 1 will receive the IERMS intervention together with usual care for the first 6 weeks and usual care for the last 6 weeks, while patients assigned to group 2 will receive usual care for the first 6 weeks and will use IERMS in the last 6 weeks. The primary outcome is adherence to the programme and secondary outcomes include exercise capacity, psychological well-being, quality of life, self-efficacy and lifestyle-related risk factors. All secondary outcomes will be measured at baseline, 6 weeks and 12 weeks. Background and objective: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations are often associated with non-EGFR genetic alterations, which may be a reason for the poor efficacy of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). Here we conducted this study to explore whether EGFR-TKIs combined with chemotherapy would benefit advanced lung adenocarcinoma patients with both sensitive EGFR mutation and concomitant non-EGFR genetic alterations. Materials and methods: Cases of advanced lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR mutation combined with concomitant non-EGFR genetic alterations were retrospectively collected. And the patients were required to receive first-line EGFR-TKIs and chemotherapy combination or EGFR-TKIs monotherapy. Demographic, clinical and pathological data were collected, and the electronic imaging data were retrieved to evaluate the efficacy and time of disease progression. Survival data were obtained through face-to-face or telephone follow-up. The differences between the two groups in objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were investigated. Results: 107 patients were included, including 63 cases in the combination group and 44 cases in the monotherapy group. The ORR were 78% and 50% (P=0.003), and DCR were 97% and 77% (P=0.002), respectively. Abstract Background Arsenic, existing ubiquitously in soil, drinking water, or food, is well known to be an environmental pollutants concerned by European Food Safety Authority. Lentinan, a beta-1,6;1,3-glucan extracts from Lentinus edodes, which has the properties of antioxidant and immunomodulation, present study explored the pharmacological effects of Lentinan on arsenic induced hepatotoxicity in mice. Methods Mice experiments were performed by sodium arsenite (SA) treatment or Lentinan intervention, then histopathology, ELISA, Flow Cytometry, or Western-Blotting were applied to evaluate hepatic injury, oxidative stress, CD4+ type 17 helper T (Th17) cells, CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells (Tregs), T cells receptor OX40/CD134, IL-17A, NLRP3, Nrf2, and NQO1. Results SA treatment showed hepatic pathological injury and the elevations of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) or aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in serum, and induced the increases of malondialdehyde (MDA), Th17 cells, OX40 or IL-17A in liver tissues, which were consistently ameliorated by Lentinan intervention. Further, immunoblotting experiments showed that Lentinan intervention downregulated the levels of OX40, IL-17A, and NLRP3 signals, while elevated the levels of anti-oxidative Nrf2, NQO1 signals compared to arsenic treatment group. For Tregs, Lentinan intervention showed no significant difference from SA treatment group. Conclusion Lentinan antagonizes SA-induced hepatotoxicity in mice, may be involved in the downregulations of pro-inflammatory OX40 or IL-17A and the activation of anti-oxidative Nrf2, NQO1 signals.

Abstract In this paper, we establish the Fujita type theorem for a homogeneous Neumann outer problem of the coupled quasilinear convection–diffusion equations and formulate the critical Fujita exponent. Besides, the influence of diffusion term, reaction term, and convection term on the global existence and the blow-up property of the problem is revealed. Finally, we discuss the large time behavior of the solution to the outer problem in the critical case and describe the asymptotic behavior of the solution.

Abstract This paper concerns the null controllability of a semilinear control system governed by degenerate parabolic equation with a gradient term, where the nonlinearity of the problem is involved with the first derivative. We first establish the well-posedness and prove the approximate null controllability of the linearized system, then we can get the approximate null controllability of the semilinear control system by a fixed point argument. Finally, the semilinear control system with a gradient term is shown to be null controllable.

Dongxiang wild rice (DXWR) is one of the most valuable germplasm resources of rice. It is important to conserve the genetic diversity and uncover the population differentiation of DXWR. In this study, we analyzed the genetic diversity and population differentiation of DXWR based on whole-genome resequencing of 220 DXWR lines collected from nine natural populations in an ex situ conservation nursery. Almost half of the SNPs and Indels detected in these DXWR lines were absent in cultivated rice or other common wild rice, indicating the potential and importance of DXWR in rice breeding. Based on Structure and PCA analysis, these DXWR lines could be divided into two subpopulations, in which subpopulation G1 had more specific SNPs and Indels and was genetically more genetically diverse than subpopulation G2. The average Fst of regions with low relative genetic diversity between G1 and G2 were significantly lower than whole-genomic Fst, indicating directional selection in these regions. Some functional genes and QTLs were found to locate in highly differentiated regions between G1 and G2. Moreover, the deep root ratios of G2 were significantly higher than G1. Our results would be helpful to the conservation and utilization of DXWR germplasm.

This article concerns the null controllability of a control system governed by coupled degenerate parabolic equations with lower order terms. For these equations, the convection terms cannot be controlled by the diffusion terms. We establish a Carleman estimate and an observability inequality by using Carleman estimates for single degenerate parabolic equations with lower order term and some energy estimates. Then we prove that the system with two controls is null controllable. Finally, we show the null controllability of the system with one control, by constructing suitable controls.

Abstract This paper studies the Cauchy problem to a class of coupled nonlinear parabolic systems and investigates the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the problem. The blow-up theorem of Fujita type is established by the integral estimation and suitable supersolutions. Moreover, the critical Fujita exponent determined by the diffusion and the spatial dimension is given.

The LEO satellite network is threatened by accidental faults, malicious attacks and other factors during its operation. This paper proposed a model of survivability evaluation based on network utility. First, calculate the communication performance indicators of delay, congestion rate and throughput of LEO satellite networks by different types of queue theory birth and death model; then, combined these performance indicators with reliability and cost planning to construct network utility function which is used for evaluating the survivability of LEO satellite networks under natural failure, random attack, deliberate attack and saturation attack modes. The case study shows that: the greater the arrival rate of natural faults, the shorter the time required to descend to the network utility threshold, the network is more vulnerable to intentional attacks; the survivability can't be enhanced by adding buffers; the importance of nodes and links is related to the proportion of real-time and non-real-time services and the traffic of different satellite coverage areas.

Effectiveness evaluation of LEO satellite communication system can not only guide the optimization of constellation program, but also play an important role in the stage of system design. In order to ensure the accuracy of the evaluation results, it is necessary to consider the impact of uncertain information on effectiveness evaluation, whether it is due to poor information or complex system. In order to solve this problem, this paper introduces birth and death process into satellite communication system. Firstly, according to the limit distribution of grey birth and death process with continuous time and limited state, we establish the availability model of the system. Then, the Kolmogorov forward equation is used to characterize the dependability of the system during operation. After that, a capability evaluation index system based on “four domains” is constructed. The attribute values of the index are unified into generalized standard interval grey numbers, and the weight allocation model of GSIGN-AHP-ME is established.The system capability is calculated according to the full probability formula. Subsequently, taking constellation X as an example, the system effectiveness is obtained by using the G-BDP-ADC model constructed in this paper. Finally, by comparing with the fuzzy evaluation method, it shows that the G-BDP-ADC model constructed in this paper is better than the fuzzy evaluation method, and can describe the LEO satellite communication system in the context of poor information more appropriately.

In this study, the difference of Se content in brown rice of different rice genotypes was evaluated on natural seleniferous soil. Firstly, the Se content of brown rice in 80 rice germplasm resources was determined, which ranged from 0.0249-0.1426 mg/kg, showing obvious differences. Next, two cultivars with a significant difference in Se content in brown rice, i.e., cv. Wuyangeng (high) and cv. IR68144 (low), were used to study the distribution pattern of Se in different organs. Moreover, the physiological mechanism of the Se content diversity in brown rice of the two cultivars was explored preliminarily. The results showed that the Se content of cv. Wuyangeng was 2-3 times higher compared to cv. IR68144. However, the Se contents of cv. IR68144 root and leaf were significantly higher than that of cv. Wuyangeng under both natural soil environment and artificial nutrient solution culture. Cv. IR68144 also had a stronger root Se accumulation coefficient and shoot Se transfer coefficient. Consequently, it can be inferred that the stronger Se transfer ability from stem to grain was the key reason for the higher Se content in brown rice cv. Wuyangeng than in cv. IR68144.

This article shows Carleman estimate and null controllability of a cascade control system governed by the semilinear degenerate parabolic equations with the general convection terms. The semilinear parabolic equations are weakly degenerate on the boundary and the convection terms cannot be controlled by the diffusion terms. We establish the Carleman estimate and the observability inequality for the linear conjugate system, and prove that the control system is null controllable.

Aberrant insulin-like growth factor I receptor (IGF1R) signaling pathway serves as a well-established target for cancer drug therapy. The intragenic antisense long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) IRAIN, a putative tumor suppressor, is downregulated in breast cancer cells, while IGF1R is overexpressed, leading to an abnormal IGF1R/IRAIN ratio that promotes tumor growth. To precisely target this pathway, we developed an “antisense lncRNA-mediated intragenic cis competition” (ALIC) approach to therapeutically correct the elevated IGF1R/IRAIN bias in breast cancer cells. We used CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing to target the weak promoter of IRAIN antisense lncRNA and showed that in targeted clones, intragenic activation of the antisense lncRNA potently competed in cis with the promoter of the IGF1R sense mRNA. Notably, the normalization of IGF1R/IRAIN transcription inhibited the IGF1R signaling pathway in breast cancer cells, decreasing cell proliferation, tumor sphere formation, migration, and invasion. Using “nuclear RNA reverse transcription-associated trap” sequencing, we uncovered an IRAIN lncRNA-specific interactome containing gene targets involved in cell metastasis, signaling pathways, and cell immortalization. These data suggest that aberrantly upregulated IGF1R in breast cancer cells can be precisely targeted by cis transcription competition, thus providing a useful strategy to target disease genes in the development of novel precision medicine therapies. Objective: To evaluate dental alveolar bone quality among young healthy Chinese adults having 3 different vertical patterns. Materials and Methods: Three-dimensional cone-beam computed tomography images of 101 subjects (15 low-angle, 48 average-angle, and 38 high-angle) were reconstructed. Facial alveolar cortical bone thicknesses and cortical and cancellous bone densities at 4 selected miniscrew implant sites in both arches, together with cancellous bone densities of third cervical vertebrae, were measured. Bone qualities were compared among the 3 vertical pattern groups. Results: The cortical bone thicknesses at mandibular 5-6 and 6-7 and the cortical and cancellous bone densities at maxillary and mandibular 5-6 and 6-7 were generally greater in the low-angle than in the other 2 groups. There was no similar consistent vertical pattern apparent for bone quality at the 1-1 and 1-2 sites. No significant differences in bone densities for third cervical vertebrae were found among the 3 groups. Conclusion: Careful selection of suitable implantation sites and sizes of the miniscrews used should be made to reduce the possible occurrence of implant loosening in patients with average-angle and high-angle vertical facial patterns in particular. The typicality effect describes a phenomenon whereby a typical item is easier to be judged as a member of a category than are atypical items. This effect has been intensively studied in the context of category verification tasks. The present study further investigated the typicality effect using our newly developed category-based deductive reasoning task. Subjects were required to judge whether an incoming stimulus had the properties described in the premise presented before. The stimuli were either typical or atypical members of four target semantic categories or were non-target stimuli. According to the ERP results, three phases were needed to determine whether the object has the property associated with the category in the premise. First, significant amplitude differences were seen between typical and atypical items at N1, which suggested that attention processing was influenced by the expectation in this up-to-down (deductive) process. The premise automatically induced the expectation of the prototype of one concept, i.e. the expectation for the prototype of birds was induced when the premise was “Birds possess the property C”. Typical items (e.g., sparrow) were more similar to the prototype; hence, they were easier to be matched with the prototype induced by the premise than were atypical items (e.g., ostrich). Additionally, there was a dissociation between typical and atypical items at P2, which suggested that the participants’ early detection of an item’s category membership was influenced by the typicality. Thirdly, N400 effect is related to the process of semantic processes and determining whether the object has the property associated with the category in the premise. N400 mean amplitudes during the 300–500 ms epoch were significantly greater for non-target members than for target members, while words of lower typicality (atypical) evoked greater N400 amplitudes during the 350–450 ms epoch than did words of higher typicality (typical). Vessel traffic flow is a key parameter for channel-through capacity and is of great significance to vessel traffic management, channel and port design and navigational risk evaluation. Based on the study of parameters of characteristics of vessel traffic flow related to channel-through capacity, this paper puts forward a brand-new mathematical model for one-way channel-through capacity in which parameters of channel length, vessel arrival rate and velocity difference in different vessels are involved and a theoretical calculating mechanism for the channel-through capacity is provided. In order to verify availability and reliability of the model, extensive simulation studies have been carried out and based on the historical AIS data, an analytical case study on the Xiazhimen Channel validating the proposed model is presented. Both simulation studies and the case study show that the proposed model is valid and all relative parameters can be readjusted and optimized to further improve the channel-through capacity. Thus, all studies demonstrate that the model is valuable for channel design and vessel management.

For the solution quenching at a finite time, we study the location of the quenching points and the blowing up of the derivative of the solution with respect to the time.

To improve models for accurate projections, data assimilation, an emerging statistical approach to combine models with data, have recently been developed to probe initial conditions, parameters, data content, response functions and model uncertainties. Quantifying how many information contents are contained in different data streams is essential to predict future states of ecosystems and the climate. This study uses a data assimilation approach to examine the information contents contained in flux- and biometric-based data to constrain parameters in a terrestrial carbon (C) model, which includes canopy photosynthesis and vegetation–soil C transfer submodels. Three assimilation experiments were constructed with either net ecosystem exchange (NEE) data only or biometric data only [including foliage and woody biomass, litterfall, soil organic C (SOC) and soil respiration], or both NEE and biometric data to constrain model parameters by a probabilistic inversion application. The results showed that NEE data mainly constrained parameters associated with gross primary production (GPP) and ecosystem respiration (RE) but were almost invalid for C transfer coefficients, while biometric data were more effective in constraining C transfer coefficients than other parameters. NEE and biometric data constrained about 26% (6) and 30% (7) of a total of 23 parameters, respectively, but their combined application constrained about 61% (14) of all parameters. The complementarity of NEE and biometric data was obvious in constraining most of parameters. The poor constraint by only NEE or biometric data was probably attributable to either the lack of long-term C dynamic data or errors from measurements. Overall, our results suggest that flux- and biometric-based data, containing different processes in ecosystem C dynamics, have different capacities to constrain parameters related to photosynthesis and C transfer coefficients, respectively. Multiple data sources could also reduce uncertainties in parameter estimation if these data sources contain complementary information.

The aim of this study was to investigate the chemical composition and functional properties of the essential oils from the plants Schisandra grandiflora (Wall.) Hook. f. et Thoms, Schisandra rubriflora (Franch). Rehd. et Wils., Schisandra sphenanthera Rehd. et Wils., and Schisandra propinqua (Wall.) Baill var. sinensis Oliv. collected in the Qinling Mountains. Under the optimum conditions of the ultrasonic-assisted extraction method, the extraction yields were 7.51% (S. grandiflora), 6.91% (S. rubriflora), 6.11% (S. sphenanthera), and 5.88% (S. propinqua). A total of 86 components were identified from four species of Schisandra and 16 components were shared among the essential oils of all samples with different contents. However, some components were identified only in a certain plant, for example, β-caryophyllen (S. grandiflora), α-bulnesene (S. rubriflora), and α-Chamigrene (S. propinqua). Terpenoids (sesquiterpenes and oxygenated sesquiterpenes), accounting for 73.87–82.08% of the total compounds, were the main components. Meanwhile, the antioxidant activities of the essential oils were evaluated through three free radical scavenging assays and a reducing power assay, which were related to the contents of the individual bioactive composition. These results provide a phytochemical foundation for the use of four species, and for the further study of the identification of Schisandra species.

The dysregulation of miR-137 plays vital roles in the oncogenesis and progression of various types of cancer, but its role in prognosis of gastric cancer patients remains unknown. This study was designed to investigate the expression and prognostic significance of miR-137 in gastric cancer patients after radical gastrectomy. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) was performed to evaluate the expression of miR-137 in human gastric cancer cell lines and tissues in patients with gastric adenocarcinoma. Results were assessed for association with clinical factors and overall survival by using Kaplan-Meier analysis. Prognostic values of miR-137 expression and clinical outcomes were evaluated by Cox regression analysis. The results exhibited that the expression level of miR-137 was decreased in human gastric cancer cell lines and tissues, and down-regulated expression of miR-137 was associated with tumor cell differentiation, N stage, and TNM stage. Decreased miR-137 expression in gastric cancer tissues was positively correlated with poor overall survival of gastric cancer patients. Further multivariate Cox regression analysis suggested that miR-137 expression was an independent prognostic indicator for gastric cancer except for TNM stage. Applying the prognostic value of miR-137 expression to TNM stage III group showed a better risk stratification for overall survival. In conclusion, the results reinforced the critical role for the down-regulated miR-137 expression in gastric cancer and suggested that miR-137 expression could be a prognostic indicator for this disease. In addition, these patients with TNM stage III gastric cancer and low miR-137 expression might need more aggressive postoperative treatment and closer follow-up.
