A fraseologia tem mostrado ser um importante aspecto linguístico. Como tal, teorias linguísticas viram-se forçadas a reavaliar suas ferramentas de análise de modo a incorporar tal aspecto da descrição linguística aos seus modelos. Com base nisso, áreas análogas como as teorias de aquisição de primeira e segunda línguas reconhecem a importância do conhecimento fraseológico dos falantes na comunicação efetiva, tanto no contexto da aquisição de L1 e L2 quanto no uso geral de linguagem. No entanto, apesar de ser um fenômeno relativamente bem conhecido nos estudos teóricos, pouco já foi dito sobre a relação entre fraseologia e sintaxe. Mais especificamente, a ideia de usar a fraseologia como um ponto de partida no ensino de estruturas gramaticais esquemáticas parece ser uma área promissora de aplicação e investigação. The topic of dog-walking injuries has recently gained notoriety through major media outlets in North America, including the Washington Post, NPR, and US News and World Report. In this review, we have compiled data from the main studies published in the past 2 decades that assess the incidence, demographics, and injury patterns related to dog leash walking. The available papers indicate that dog leash-related injuries have increased, particularly among women over 65. The most common causes of injury are dog-pulling behavior, which can result in tripping or tangling, with or without a fall, as well as upper extremity injuries. However, there is a lack of information regarding dog size, breed, training status, the type of leash used at the time of injury, and the role each factor may have in the incidence of injuries. The available data did not allow for evaluation of the impact of weather conditions on injury incidence. Information about the involved dogs, type of lead device, and weather conditions could be useful in identifying risk factors associated with dog ownership and guide prospective pet owners and their families to mitigate the risk of injuries. The inclusion of scientific journals in prestigious indexers is often associated with higher citation rates; journals included in such indexers are significantly more acknowledged than those that are not included in them. This phenomenon refers to the Matthew effect on journal citations, according to which journals in exclusive rankings tend to be increasingly cited. This paper shows the opposite: that the inclusion of journals in local indexers ruled by inclusive logic reduces the Matthew effect on journal citations since it enables them to be equally exposed. Thus, we based our arguments on the comparison of 68 Brazilian journals before and after they were indexed in the Scientific Periodicals Electronic Library (Spell), which ranks journals in the Brazilian management field based on local citations. Citation impact indicators and iGini (a new individual inequality analysis measure) were used to show that the inclusion of journals in Spell has probably increased their impact factor and decreased their citation inequality rates. Using a difference-in-differences model with continuous treatment, the results indicated that the effect between ranking and inequality declined after journals were included in Spell. Additional robustness checks through event study models and interrupted time-series analysis for panel data point to a reduction in citation inequality but follow different trajectories for the 2- and 5-year impact. Purpose: The authors aimed to compare the effects of 4 weeks jump versus complex training methods on lower limb muscle power and maximal isokinetic torque of knee extensors and flexors in elite male volleyball players. Methods: Sixteen male volleyball players were allocated into 2 groups, jump training (n = 8; 27.0 [5.7] y, 94.3 [7.6] kg) and complex training (with induction of postactivation performance enhancement, n = 8; 26.6 [3.6] y, 94.2 [6.3] kg). All individuals performed jump training 2 sessions/wk, and the complex group received induction training with postactivation performance enhancement and jump training. Results: After 4 weeks, an increase in countermovement jump height (jump: 49.0 [1.2] to 52.7 [2.1] cm and complex: 49.2 [1.1] to 53.3 [1.9] cm; P =.009) and power (jump: 29.5 [1.1] to 34.3 [1.4] W and complex: 30.4 [0.9] to 34.4 [1.08] W; P =.001) was observed without significant differences between groups and without significant group × time interaction (P >.05). Also, no significant difference was observed between and within groups for the isokinetic peak torque at low speeds (60 and 180°s), although total muscle work and knee extensor/flexor ratio increased from pretraining to posttraining at 300° seconds similarly in both groups. Conclusion: The findings indicate that jump performance and power, knee extensor/flexor ratio, and total muscle work increased after 4 weeks of jump and complex training. However, the inclusion of heavy resistance stimulus did not elicit any additional improvements in the vertical jump performance and isokinetic strength of elite volleyball players. Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease of the arteries responsible for a high rate of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The objective of this study was to associate the histopathologic and immunohistochemical aspects of tongue inflammation with aortic and coronary atherosclerosis in autopsied humans. A total of 4378 autopsy reports were analyzed, and cases were included in the study if fragments of the individual's tongue, aorta, and coronary artery were available for analysis (N = 16). Morphologic and immunohistochemical evaluations were performed for interleukin la (IL-1α), IL-6, tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-α), and interferon γ (IFN-γ). Findings of IL-1α in the aorta were associated with the following parameters evaluated in the tongue: IL-6 (P = 0.031), inflammation in the submucosa (P = 0.042), and spongiosis (P = 0.018). Findings of IL-6 in the tongue were associated with IL-1α (P = 0.031), IL-6 (P = 0.016), and TNF-α (P = 0.016) in the aorta. Tongue exocytosis was associated with IL-6 (P = 0.003) and IFN-γ (P = 0.003) in the aorta. Inflammation in the submucosa, spongiosis, and higher immunostaining by IL-6 on the tongue are associated with higher immunostaining by IL-1α in the aorta. In addition, increased intensity in the presence of IL-6 in the tongue is also associated with increases in IL-6 and TNF-α in the aorta. Because these cytokines contribute to the process of atherosclerosis, and infectious agents are a major cause of inflammation in the tongue, it seems likely that proper prevention and treatment of lingual infections could reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. This article investigates the processing of English caused-motion constructions by Brazilian EFL learners. Drawing on corpus data on the production of such constructions by Brazilian learners, this study experimentally tests the four following constructional domains of caused motions discussed in Rosa (2020): (1) literal caused motions with instantiating verbs (e.g., put the toys into the box); (2) figurative caused motions with instantiating verbs (e.g., get yourself in trouble); (3) literal caused motions with modifying verbs (e.g., they laughed him out of the office); and (4) figurative caused motions with modifying verbs (e.g., she talked me into stupor). An acceptability judgment task with 120 EFL Brazilian learners at two levels of proficiency (B2 and C1) was devised so as to investigate the development of caused motions by testing two aspects and their effect on the comprehension of the structure: (1) level of proficiency, and (2) the degree of linguistic complexity of the structures in question. The results of the experimental study showed that learners' proficiency level does affect their comprehension of the structures. However, the linguistic complexity of the structures seems to play an even greater role in that learners exhibit a descending level of comprehension of caused motions that is proportional with the ascending level of semantic and syntactic complexity of the structures. The rapid growth of urban populations has led to a significant increase in municipal solid waste generation, raising concerns about waste disposal, environmental impact, and associated costs. This paper aims to plan a strategy for the reverse logistics of selective waste collection in a medium-sized city in Brazil to achieve more effective and economical waste collection. Firstly, the methodology of the Brazilian National Foundation of Health was applied to determine the fleet of vehicles needed to collect recyclable waste from Volunteer Delivery Stations. Subsequently, a Vehicle Routing Problem with Multiple Trips (VRPMT) was proposed as a case study for the city of Vitória, Brazil. This study represents the first application of VRPMT to a medium-sized city with geographically dispersed collection points, introducing multiple routes within a single day and presenting a paradigm shift. The results obtained from the mathematical model indicate a potential route savings of 48.7% using linear programming analysis compared to the existing municipal solid waste collection planning. The model can serve as a tool to support the planning of reverse logistics for recyclable solid waste, assisting city councils in reducing logistics costs by automatically planning standardized trips with only the input data required. However, the model's applicability is limited to small instances. Future research could consider employing a Simulated Annealing (SA) metaheuristic to solve larger instances, enabling the planning of future expansions of the selective waste collection system. Phraseology has proven to be an important aspect of languages; as such, linguistic theories were forced to reshape their explanatory tools so as to incorporate this important aspect of language to their descriptive models. In light of this, analogous areas such as fi rst and second language acquisition theories have all acknowledged the importance of speakers' phraseological knowledge in real communication, both in L1 and L2 acquisition settings and in general language use. Nevertheless, despite being a relatively well-known phenomenon in theoretical studies, little has been said about the relationship between phraseology and syntax. More specifi cally, the idea of using phraseology as a starting point for the teaching of schematic grammatical structures seems to be a promising area of application and investigation. The three-dimensional movement of the horse in physical therapy is a valuable kinesio-therapeutic phenomenon that simultaneously affects several body systems, including particularly the neuromuscular system. However, the effects of equine-assisted services (EAS) on neuromuscular activation patterns in older adults have not been thoroughly investigated. In this study, we evaluated the impact of a 10-weeks EAS program on trunk muscles in older adults who used a saddle and placed their feet in stirrups for the first 15 minutes and out of stirrups for the remaining 15 minutes of 30-minute EAS sessions. We gathered electromyographic (EMG) data of the trunk muscles five times each on the first, fifth, and 10th sessions: pre-EAS and post-EAS on a stationary horse and at 1-minute, 15-minutes, and 30-minutes on a horse in motion. Participants were 20 adults, aged 60–79 years. We analyzed normalized EMG data with 5 (session time) by 3 (session number) analyses of variance (ANOVAs) with repeated measures and with Bonferroni's testing (p ≤.05). There was a significant difference over the number of interventions for the right thoracic paravertebral muscle (p =.025) and session time effect for the left trapezius (p =.042), right thoracic paravertebral (p <.001), right and left multifidus (p <.001), and right and left rectus abdominis muscles (p <.001). Thus, trunk muscles in older adults showed complex neuromuscular activation synchronized with the horse's movement, which was influenced by session time and number of interventions. Simple Summary: In the last decades, performance models have helped to comprehend the mechanisms involved in long-term physical performance. In addition, predictive models have aided in the evaluation and prescription of physical training. Here, we tested the hypothesis that physiological assessments under inclined conditions would better explain hilly running performance. We also checked the predictive role of running biomechanical, anthropometric, and neuromuscular factors. Velocity associated with maximal oxygen consumption was more predictive when assessed in inclined conditions (7%) than testing at level. Secondarily, ventilatory thresholds submaximal heart rate improved the performance models at hilly and level conditions. Spatiotemporal, strength, and anthropometric factors were not determinants of performance. Physiological assessments in inclined conditions predict 5-km running performance at hilly terrains in higher degree than evaluations at level in endurance runners. Incline and level running on treadmills have been extensively studied due to their different cardiorespiratory and biomechanical acute responses. However, there are no studies examining the performance determinants of outdoor running on hilly terrains. We aimed to investigate the influence of anthropometrics, muscle strength, and cardiorespiratory and gait spatiotemporal parameters during level (0%) and inclined (+7%) running on performance in level and hilly 5-km races. Twenty male recreational runners completed two 5-km outdoor running tests (0% vs. +7% and −7%), and two submaximal (10 km·h−1) and incremental treadmill tests at 0 and 7% slopes, after complete laboratory evaluations. The velocity at maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) evaluated at 7% incline and level treadmill running were the best performance predictors under both hilly (R2 = 0.72; p < 0.05) and level (R2 = 0.85; p < 0.01) conditions, respectively. Inclusion of ventilatory and submaximal heart rate data improved the predictive models up to 100%. Conversely, none of the parameters evaluated in one condition contributed to the other condition. The spatiotemporal parameters and the runners' strength levels were not associated to outdoor performances. These results indicate that the vVO2max evaluated at similar slopes in the lab can be used to predict 5-km running performances on both level and hilly terrains. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the effects of a plyometric training session with and without PAPE followed by a specific volleyball training session on CMJ, PRS, and RPE in high-level volleyball athletes. The rise of neoliberal governance in the higher education sector and the growing demands that the values of equality be institutionally embedded represent two potentially conflicting trends. In this context, the steady deployment of a neoliberal agenda to organizations has come to interfere with the work–life balance. Whereas the demands of the neoliberal university rely upon a hegemonic work-centric model that can affect academics irrespective of gender, women are more likely to experience work–life conflict and its associated impacts. This article focuses on how work–life conflict has been studied with three main objectives. First, to map the challenges of combining work and private life in the neoliberalised university. Second, to conduct a systematic review of the literature on work–life balance in academia. Third, to discuss findings and limitations in order to propose research recommendations. As the COVID-19 pandemic raises new and specific challenges to work–life balance, more gender inclusive and theoretically informed studies are needed to tackle the blind spots found here. Objective: the objective is to compare the relative efficiency of the railways specialized in transporting iron ore (MFe) and pellets (PLMFe), which are part of the assets of mining companies and pellet plants considering the 2016 scenario. Methods: the methods used were the data envelopment analysis (DEA) technique, with the application of the output-oriented constant returns scale (CRS) model; the initial combinatorial multicriteria method for choosing the input variables; and Tobit regression as a validation strategy for the DEA model. Results: of the twelve railways evaluated, three railways were identified as efficient: Estrada de Ferro Carajás, Fortescue, and Mount Newman. Conclusions: the applied model was considered a good method to evaluate the efficiency of railways specialized in transporting MFe and PLMFe, as it determined the efficiency of each railway, suggesting the necessary increase in the output variable or adjustments in the input variables so that the railways reach the efficiency frontier. With that, companies can use the results of this study to guide future improvements to make their railways more efficient or maintain them on the frontier of efficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
