Background Gastrointestinal symptoms as a common clinical evaluation index require a universal evaluation tool, and the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS) has been widely applicated in domestic studies. However, the versions used are not standardized Chinese versions and their measurement performance has not been reported yet. Objective To explore the measurement performance of the Chinese version of the GSRS, in order to provide an objective basis for expanding the application of the scale. Methods From October 2021 to March 2022, patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic enteritis and chronic gastritis who attended outpatient clinics of splenogastroenterology or gastroenterology in 45 hospitals (community health service centers), including Jilin Provincial People's Hospital and Beijing Changping District Urban Community Health Service Center, etc. The Chinese version of GSRS was used to evaluate the gastrointestinal symptoms of the included patients on treatment days 0, 3, 7 and 14. Reliability and validity analyses were conducted on the Chinese version of GSRS, and the paired Wilcoxon signed rank sum test was applied to compare the changes in the scores of patients before and after treatment. Additionally, effect size (ES), standardized response mean (SRM), and score change rate (CR) were used to assess the responsiveness of the scales. Results A total of 554 patients were included and followed up, including 127 patients (22.93%) with IBS, 244 (44.04%) patientswith chronic enteritis and 183 (33.03%) patients with chronic gastritis. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the Chinese version of GSRS was 0.896, the Guttman Split-half coefficient was 0.920, the Spearman-Brown coefficient was 0.926, the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for the two retest results was 0.589, and the Spearman correlation coefficient was 0.662. The content validity index for each item ranged from 0.78 to 1.00. The content validity index (CVI) for the scale-level universal agreement was 0.73, and the average CVI was 0.96. Exploratory factor analysis extracted a total of three common factors with eigenvalues>1, and the rate of cumulative variance contribution is 60.721%.The validation factor analysis demonstrated that the data samples did not fit the initial model M0 well, and each fit index of model M1 is within the acceptable range after correction according to the modification indicator hints in the acceptable range: χ2/df0.900. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), as a kind of novel hypoglycemic agent, are widely used in patients with type 2 diabetes. GLP-1RAs are effective in glycemic control with low risk of hypoglycemia, significant weight loss, and cardiovascular benefit and renal protection. The most common adverse effects of GLP-1RAs are mild to moderate gastrointestinal symptoms, which generally resolve over time. The use of GLP-1RAs also increases the risk of gallbladder or biliary diseases, especially when used at higher doses, for longer durations, and for weight loss, but the absolute risk of gallbladder or biliary tract disease is small. Clinicians and patients need to carefully weigh the benefits and risks of GLP-1RAs to make decisions for the rational use of GLP-1RAs.

ObjectiveTo describe the incidence and distribution characteristics of congenital heart disease in newborns， and to analyze the trend of the notification rate from 2009 to 2018 in Chongming District， Shanghai.MethodsBased on the shanghai birth defects surveillance system， newborns delivered in all medical institutions in Chongming District from 2009 to 2018 were examined for congenital heart disease at birth and followed up to 42 days. Background: To systematically analyze differences in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) burden between young and older adults. Methods: We estimated the prevalence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of ASCVD, including ischemic heart disease (IHD), ischemic stroke (IS), and peripheral artery disease (PAD), in individuals aged 20–54 and > 55 years from 1990–2019, utilizing data from the 2019 Global Burden of Disease Study. The annual percentage changes (EAPCs) for age-specific prevalence, mortality, or DALY rates were calculated to quantify the temporal trends of ASCVD burden. We also analyzed population attribution fractions (PAF) of premature ASCVD mortality and DALYs for different risk factors and compared the burden of extremely premature, premature, and non-premature ASCVD cases based on clinical classifications. Results: From 1990–2019, the global prevalence rates of IHD, IS, and PAD in the 20–54 years age group increased by 20.55% (from 694.74 to 837.49 per 100,000 population), 11.50% (from 439.48 to 490.03 per 100,000 population), and 7.38% (from 384.24 to 412.59 per 100,000 population), respectively. Conversely, the ASCVD prevalence in > 55years age group decreased. Adverse outcome burdens, including mortality and DALYs, varied among ASCVD subtypes. The decrease in the mortality/DALY burden of IHD and IS was lower in the 20–54 years group than in the > 55 years group. For PAD, DALYs among those aged 20–54 increased but decreased among those aged > 55 years. When grouped according to socio-demographic index (SDI) values, lower SDI regions exhibited a higher proportion of young ASCVD burden. The prevalence of young IHD, IS, and PAD in low SDI regions reached 20.70%, 40.05%, and 19.31% in 2019, respectively, compared with 12.14%, 16.32%, and 9.54%, respectively, in high SDI regions. Metabolic risks were the primary contributors to the ASCVD burden in both age groups. Increased susceptibility to ambient particulate matter pollution and inadequate control of high body-mass index and high fasting plasma glucose in young individuals may partially explain the differing temporal trends between young and older individuals. Conclusions: The ASCVD burden in young individuals may become a growing global health concern, especially in areas with lower socioeconomic development levels that require more effective primary prevention strategies. Aims: To evaluate the impact of a dual glucose‐dependent insulinotropic peptide (GIP) and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) receptor agonist tirzepatide (TZP), and its potential dose‐response effect, on heart rate. Methods: Articles were searched from PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, and clinical trials registries (ClinicalTrials.gov) databases. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing TZP at doses of 5, 10 and 15 mg in adults with type 2 diabetes were included. Six study arms were summarized from original research (TZP 5, 10 and 15 mg, GLP‐1 receptor agonists [GLP‐1RAs], insulin, placebo). The GLP‐1RA and non‐GLP‐1RA groups were combined to form a control group. Two reviewers independently extracted data and assessed the quality of each study. Mean differences (MDs) were calculated as effect estimates for continuous outcomes. Pairwise meta‐analyses and network meta‐analyses were conducted. The study protocol was prospectively registered (PROSPERO ID: CRD42023418551). Results: Eight articles were included in this systematic review and meta‐analysis. The mean baseline heart rate ranged from 65.2 to 75.7 beats per minute. Pairwise meta‐analysis showed that, compared with combined the control group, there were significantly greater increases in heart rates in the TZP group (MD 1.82, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.75, 2.89). Similar significant rises were identified when comparing TZP with GLP‐1RAs and non‐GLP‐1RAs (GLP‐1 RAs: MD 2.29, 95% CI 1.00, 3.59; non‐GLP‐1RAs: MD 1.58, 95% CI 0.26, 2.91). TZP 5 mg was associated with smaller increases in heart rates compared to TZP 10 mg and TZP 15 mg (TZP 10 mg: MD −0.97, 95% CI −1.79, −0.14; TZP 15 mg: MD −2.57, 95% CI −3.79, −1.35). TZP 10 mg increased heart rate less than TZP 15 mg (MD −1.5, 95% CI −2.38, −0.82). Network meta‐analysis indicated that TZP 15 mg was associated with significant increases in heart rate compared with TZP 5 mg (MD 2.53, 95% CI 1.43, 3.62), TZP 10 mg (MD 1.44, 95% CI 0.35, 2.53), GLP‐1RAs (MD 3.46, 95% CI 1.67, 5.25), insulin (MD 2.86, 95% CI 1.32, 4.41) and placebo (MD 2.96, 95% CI 1.36, 4.57). Conclusions: Our study showed not only that there was a greater increase in heart rate in the TZP group than in the control, GLP‐1RA and non‐GLP‐1RA groups, but also that the 15‐mg dose of TZP had the strongest impact on increasing heart rates compared with the other five inventions, with a TZP dose‐response impact on heart rate. The article discusses the development of the SHARE (SHam Acupuncture REporting) guidelines and checklist for reporting sham acupuncture in clinical trials. Sham acupuncture is commonly used as a control in acupuncture research to evaluate the specific effects of acupuncture. However, the reporting quality of sham acupuncture in trials has been low, hindering the accurate understanding of its effects and leading to misunderstandings about the specific effects of acupuncture. The SHARE guidelines aim to improve the reporting quality of sham acupuncture by providing specific details about its implementation, including stimulation location, needle stimulation methods, and insertion technique. The guidelines also address contextual factors such as practitioner experience, practitioner-patient interaction, and patients' expectations of acupuncture. The SHARE checklist includes 19 subitems across 10 categories and can be used in any clinical trial involving sham acupuncture. The article recommends referencing both the SHARE and the STRICTA (STandards for Reporting Interventions in Controlled Trials of Acupuncture) checklist when conducting trials with sham acupuncture control. The development of the SHARE involved a literature review, Delphi surveys, consensus meetings, and pilot testing. The article acknowledges some limitations, such as the small sample size in the pilot test and the impact of COVID-19 on the consensus meetings. The acupuncture case registry study is focusing on acupuncture therapy data from patient cases. The main objective is to collect real-world data and integrate clinically meaningful outcome evaluation indicators to uncover and evaluate real-world acupuncture efficacy and safety, explore factors affecting acupuncture efficacy, and provide real-world evidence to complement RCTs. Since the International Acupuncture Case Registry data collection system's establishment in 2017, 16 projects have been underway, including two acupuncture specialty therapies and 15 diseases. Data from 3404 patients included extensive information on the diagnosis and treatment of acupuncture and the evaluation of its efficacy. In order to serve as a guide for future studies, this article discusses the value of and rationale for establishing acupuncture case registry studies, how to distinguish them from patient registries, and crucial techniques for implementing registry studies in terms of applications, patient recruitment, costakeholder collaboration, data collection and management, study quality control, and ethics. Background. Observational studies from China suggest that Kangbingdu oral liquid (KBD) may be effective in treating the common cold. Objective. Reevaluation of efficacy and safety of Kangbingdu oral liquid after marketing and expanding population. Design. Prospective, Pragmatic randomized controlled trial (Chictr.org.cn registration number: chiCTR-TRC-12002399). Setting. Eleven hospitals from 3 provinces in China. Patients were recruited through 11 centers, including 7 teaching hospitals, 2 University health services, one military clinic, and one community hospital. Patients. 2647 persons aged 18 to 75 years with Common cold. Intervention. Patients were randomly allocated to 2 groups: the treatment group Kangbingdu oral liquid (composed of 9 Chinese herbal medicines and honey) and the placebo group were divided into a standard-dose group of 10 ml every time, a middle dose group of 20 ml every time, high dose group of 30 ml every time, 3 times daily. Interventions and control were given for 5 days. Measurements. The primary outcome is the mean amount of total scores measured by the 11-primary symptoms: to observe the change of main symptoms from severe to disappear and to calculate and compare the mean amount of total scores after the periods of observation. Secondary outcomes are the disappearance rate of each symptom and the median time of body temperature returned to normal. Results. On day 5, the Kangbingdu liquid group had significant reductions in the mean amount of total scores measured by the 11-primary symptoms (7.39 [95% CI 7.26 to 7.51] compared to the placebo group (6.43 [95%: CI 6.24 to 6.62]). The Kangbingdu liquid can improve the remission rate of accompanying symptoms on day 5 including aversion to wind, aversion to cold, fever, cough, stuffy, runny nose, sore throat, muscular aches, headache, fatigue, and sweat (P < 0.0001). Significant reductions in time of body temperature to return to normal in the Kangbingdu liquid group (P50, 48.33 [95% CI 46.00 to 52.50] compared with the control group (P50, 64.59 [95% CI 51.08 to 70.50] (P = 0.0022). 13 (0.7%) participants in the Kangbingdu liquid group and 1(0.2%) participants in the placebo group (P > 0.05) had treatment-related AEs, which mainly include diarrhea and dyspepsia in the Kangbingdu liquid group and constipation in the placebo group. Conclusion. The study's conclusion in this paper was based on the placebo, Kangbingdu oral liquid two groups which clinically diagnosed the common cold and flu. (1) Kangbingdu oral liquid can effectively improve the comprehensive clinical symptoms of common adult cold, also improved main symptoms, including sore throat, muscle aches, headache, and so on. Hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) has been associated with impaired vascular endothelial function. Our previous study demonstrated significantly higher secretion of the chemokine monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 from monocytes in response to lipopolysaccharide in patients with HHcy. In the present study, we investigated whether coronary endothelial function was damaged in patients with chronic HHcy (plasma level of homocysteine >15 [micro]mol/l) and, if so, whether this impaired endothelial function is induced by the uncoupling of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS). When tetrahydrobiopterin levels are inadequate, eNOS is no longer coupled to L-arginine oxidation, which results in reactive oxygen species rather than nitric oxide production, thereby inducing vascular endothelial dysfunction. The 71 participants were divided into two groups, control (n = 50) and HHcy (n = 21). Quantification of coronary flow velocity reserve (CFVR) was after rest and after adenosine administration done by noninvasive Doppler echocardiography. Plasma levels of nitric oxide and tetrahydrobiopterin were significantly lower in patients with HHcy than in controls (99.54 [+ or -] 32.23 vs. 119.50 [+ or -] 37.68 [micro]mol/l and 1.43 [+ or -] 0.46 vs. 1.73 [+ or -] 0.56 pmol/ml, all P < 0.05). Furthermore, CFVR was significantly lower in the HHcy than the control group (2.76 [+ or -] 0.49 vs. 3.09 [+ or -] 0.52, P < 0.05). In addition, plasma level of homocysteine was negatively correlated with CFVR. Chronic HHcy may contribute to coronary artery disease by inducing dysfunction of the coronary artery endothelium. Objectives. The purpose of this study was to observe the clinical efficacy of the reinforcing and circulation-promoting protocol of acupuncture and moxibustion in treatment of refractory chronic low back pain, analyze therapeutic principles to obtain treatment efficacy, and develop new therapeutic principles to treat chronic low back pain. Methods. Twenty-four patients from the registry of patients suffering from refractory chronic low back pain were invited to our self-controlled case series, which was conducted in "real-world" settings. We implemented the reinforcing and circulation-promoting protocol of acupuncture and moxibustion to treat these patients and used the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) as the observation indices. Results. All 24 patients completed the treatment of acupuncture and moxibustion. The VAS of low back pain was 6.83 ± 2.18 before treatment and 2.13 ± 1.45 after treatment. The difference before and after treatment was significant (P < 0.001). The ODI was 28.21 ± 13.06 before treatment and 16.63 ± 7.20 after treatment. Their difference before and after treatment was significant (P < 0.001). Conclusion. The reinforcing and circulation-promoting protocol of acupuncture and moxibustion is effective in treating refractory chronic low back pain mainly because low back pain can be significantly relieved and motor function can be promoted. Objective: To evaluate the correlation between the TIMI frame count, IMR, and CFR in coronary microvascular disease (slow flow phenomenon).Methods: TFC and IMR were recorded in the nitroglycerin and ATP administration states, and the relationship between TFC, IMR, and CFR in specific states was analyzed.Results: A total of 41 patients with baseline TFC >25 frames on coronary angiography were enrolled, and nitroglycerin reduced TFC by 50% from baseline in 24 (58.54%) patients; 16 of the remaining 17 patients were able to achieve a 50% reduction in TFC by further intracoronary ATP injection. 10 patients were further tested for IMR, and the results showed significant correlations between baseline TFC and IMR (r = 0.775, P=0.008), TFC and IMR after nitroglycerin (r = 0.875, P=0.001), and the minimal TFC and IMR that could be obtained with nitroglycerin or ATP administration (r = 0.890, P=0.001). There was also a significant correlation between the proportional improvement in TFC and CFR before and after nitroglycerin injection (r = 0.685, P=0.029). In addition, we observed a lower IMR measured after nitroglycerin than after ATP in three patients, suggesting that CMD may be dominated by NO-sensitive vascular such as prearterioles and that an extensive analysis of the target site of CMD may be achieved by stepwise drug administration.Conclusion: Induction of TFC in different states by a stepwise drug approach may serve as a potential primary screening method for coronary microcirculatory dysfunction, thereby reducing the need for further IMR or CFR testing. Objective. To explore the optimal fitting path of missing data of the Scale to make the fitting data close to the real situation of patients' data. Methods. Based on the complete data set of the SDS of 507 patients with stroke, the data simulation sets of Missing Completely at Random (MCAR), Missing at Random (MAR), and Missing Not at Random (MNAR) were constructed by R software, respectively, with missing rates of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, and 40% under three missing mechanisms. Mean substitution (MS), random forest regression (RFR), and predictive mean matching (PMM) were used to fit the data. Root mean square error (RMSE), the width of 95% confidence intervals (95% CI), and Spearman correlation coefficient (SCC) were used to evaluate the fitting effect and determine the optimal fitting path. Results. when dealing with the problem of missing data in scales, the optimal fitting path is ① under the MCAR deletion mechanism, when the deletion proportion is less than 20%, the MS method is the most convenient; when the missing ratio is greater than 20%, RFR algorithm is the best fitting method. ② Under the Mar mechanism, when the deletion ratio is less than 35%, the MS method is the most convenient. When the deletion ratio is greater than 35%, RFR has a better correlation. ③ Under the mechanism of MNAR, RFR is the best data fitting method, especially when the missing proportion is greater than 30%. In reality, when the deletion ratio is small, the complete case deletion method is the most commonly used, but the RFR algorithm can greatly expand the application scope of samples and save the cost of clinical research when the deletion ratio is less than 30%. The best way to deal with data missing should be based on the missing mechanism and proportion of actual data, and choose the best method between the statistical analysis ability of the research team, the effectiveness of the method, and the understanding of readers. Background and Objectives. The development of network medicine provides new opportunities for disease research. Ischemic stroke has a high incidence, disability, and recurrence rate, and one of the reasons is that it is often accompanied by other complex diseases, including risk factors, complications, and comorbidities. Network medicine was used to try to analyze the characteristics of IS-related diseases and find out the differences in genetic pathways between Chinese herbs and Western drugs. Methods. Individualized treatment of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) provides a theoretical basis for the study of the personalized classification of complex diseases. Utilizing the TCM clinical electronic medical records (EMRs) of 7170 in patients with IS, a patient similarity network (PSN) with shared symptoms was constructed. Next, patient subgroups were identified using community detection methods and enrichment analyses were performed. Finally, genetic data of symptoms, herbs, and drugs were used for pathway and GO analysis to explore the characteristics of pathways of subgroups and to compare the similarities and differences in genetic pathways of herbs and drugs from the perspective of molecular pathways of symptoms. Results. We identified 34 patient modules from the PSN, of which 7 modules include 98.48% of the whole cases. The 7 patient subgroups have their own characteristics of risk factors, complications, and comorbidities and the underlying genetic pathways of symptoms, drugs, and herbs. Each subgroup has the largest number of herb pathways. For specific symptom pathways, the number of herb pathways is more than that of drugs. Conclusion. The research of disease classification based on community detection of symptom-shared patient networks is practical; the common molecular pathway of symptoms and herbs reflects the rationality of TCM herbs on symptoms and the wide range of therapeutic targets. Background: Acupuncture has promising effects on chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS), but high-quality evidence is scarce.Objective: To assess the long-term efficacy of acupuncture for CP/CPPS.Design: Multicenter, randomized, sham-controlled trial. (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT03213938).Setting: Ten tertiary hospitals in China.Participants: Men with moderate to severe CP/CPPS, regardless of prior exposure to acupuncture.Intervention: Twenty sessions of acupuncture or sham acupuncture over 8 weeks, with 24-week follow-up after treatment.Measurements: The primary outcome was the proportion of responders, defined as participants who achieved a clinically important reduction of at least 6 points from baseline on the National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index at weeks 8 and 32. Ascertainment of sustained efficacy required the between-group difference to be statistically significant at both time points.Results: A total of 440 men (220 in each group) were recruited. At week 8, the proportions of responders were 60.6% (95% CI, 53.7% to 67.1%) in the acupuncture group and 36.8% (CI, 30.4% to 43.7%) in the sham acupuncture group (adjusted difference, 21.6 percentage points [CI, 12.8 to 30.4 percentage points]; adjusted odds ratio, 2.6 [CI, 1.8 to 4.0]; P < 0.001). At week 32, the proportions were 61.5% (CI, 54.5% to 68.1%) in the acupuncture group and 38.3% (CI, 31.7% to 45.4%) in the sham acupuncture group (adjusted difference, 21.1 percentage points [CI, 12.2 to 30.1 percentage points]; adjusted odds ratio, 2.6 [CI, 1.7 to 3.9]; P < 0.001). Twenty (9.1%) and 14 (6.4%) adverse events were reported in the acupuncture and sham acupuncture groups, respectively. Objective: This study aimed to systematically evaluate the association between triceps skinfold (TSF) thickness (which indicates subcutaneous fat) mid-arm muscle circumference (MAMC; which reflects muscle mass), mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), and all-cause mortality.Methods: A total of 17,717 adults from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (1993-2015) were included. Cox proportional hazards models were used to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for all-cause mortality. The joint effect of TSF thickness and MAMC was examined, and planned subgroup analyses were performed.Results: The highest quartiles of TSF thickness, MAMC, and MUAC were significantly associated with low all-cause mortality, independent of BMI (TSF thickness: HR = 0.704 [95% CI: 0.575-0.862]; MAMC: HR = 0.729 [95% CI: 0.607-0.876]; MUAC: HR = 0.713 [95% CI: 0.583-0.872]). A 1-SD increase showed comparable risk reductions for TSF thickness and MAMC (14.6% and 14.0%), with 16.1% risk reductions in MUAC. There were positive additive interactions between TSF thickness and MAMC. The inverse association existed in young, middle-aged, and elderly participants (P-heterogeneity > 0.05).Conclusions: Mid-arm muscle and subcutaneous fat were inversely associated with all-cause mortality, independent of BMI, beyond the elderly population. Context: Synchronous distance education (SDE) has been widely used for health science students in recent years. This study examined the effectiveness and acceptance of SDE compared with traditional education for health science students and explored the potential moderators that could impact the pooled results. Methods: A systematic review and meta‐analysis was conducted of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) from January 2000 to March 2020 searched on nine electronic databases, including Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Scopus, EMBASE, CINAHL, ERIC, PsycINFO, and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses. The outcomes measured were knowledge, skills with objective assessments and overall satisfaction with subjective evaluations. The pooled results were calculated using random‐model effects, and moderators were explored through meta‐regression. Results: A total of seven RCTs with 594 participants were included. At the post‐test level, the pooled effect size of knowledge acquisitions (SMD 0.12, 95% CI −0.07‐0.32) showed insignificant difference between the SDE and traditional education groups (P =.207), with low heterogeneity (I2 = 17.6%). Subgroup analyses observed no factors that significantly impacted the pooled results of knowledge acquisition at the post‐test levels (P for interaction > 0.05). Knowledge gains from pretest to post‐test in SDE groups also did not differ significantly between groups (SMD 0.15, 95% CI −0.22‐0.53; P =.428). The pooled effect size of skills (SMD 0.02, 95% CI −0.24‐0.28; P =.735) was similarly insignificant. The pooled effect size of overall satisfaction (SMD 0.60, 95% CI 0.38‐0.83; P <.001) significantly favoured SDE over traditional education. Incorporating two‐group studies without randomisations did not significantly change the overall results of knowledge acquisition at the post‐test level (SMD −0.002, 95% CI −0.11‐0.10; P =.994), with moderate heterogeneity (I2 = 61.9%). Conclusions: Synchronous distance education was not significantly different from traditional education in effectiveness and had higher satisfaction ratings. Our findings might provide indications for adoptions of online remote education in health science education centres. Synchronous distance education appears to be neither better nor worse than traditional education but is often preferred. Purpose: High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) has been shown as an important predictor of cardiovascular risk, and sleep duration is an important factor influencing health outcomes. However, the association between hs-CRP and sleep duration among Chinese adults remained unknown and controversial. We aimed to explore the associations between sleep duration and hs-CRP levels among Chinese adults, and the differences in sex and geographical regions. Methods: This cross-sectional study was based on nationally representative Chinese samples from the 2009 China Health and Nutrition Survey, which employed multistage, random cluster designs. Habitual sleep duration was self-reported with short and long sleep duration defined as ≤ 6h and ≥ 9h per day, respectively. Participants were divided into 4 groups based on the categories of self-reported sleep duration (≤ 6h, 7h, 8h, ≥ 9h per day), excluding hs-CRP levels ≥ 10 mg/L. Subset samples were stratified by sex and geographical regions. Results: A total of 8170 Chinese adults with a mean age of 50.0± 14.9 years and 4369 (53.5%) men were included. Participants sleeping eight hours had the lowest hs-CRP levels. Long sleep duration (≥ 9h) was significantly associated with elevated hs-CRP levels after adjusting for multiple covariates in full samples (β=0.0356; 95% CI: 0.0050– 0.0663; P=0.0228), but the associations of short sleep duration (≤ 6h) were limited to the unadjusted model. Long sleep duration was associated with elevated hs-CRP levels in women (β= 0.0512; 95% CI: 0.0097– 0.0927; P=0.0155) and in the northern region of China (β=0.0699; 95% CI: 0.0210– 0.1187; P=0.0051), but not in men or the southern region. Conclusion: Long but not short sleep duration was positively associated with elevated hs-CRP levels, independent from traditional risk factors among Chinese adults, and sex and geographical differences were observed. Introduction: The cardiovascular efficacy of glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are well documented; however, the differences in cardiovascular efficacy among subpopulations remain unknown. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to explore the differences in cardiovascular efficacy of long-acting GLP-1RAs among subpopulations of patients with T2DM and to assess the drug safety. Methods: Relevant studies up to March 31, 2020 were searched for in six electronic databases, namely PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Clinical Trials, Science Direct, and Web of Science. The primary outcome was three-point major adverse cardiovascular events (including cardiovascular mortality, non-fatal myocardial infarction, and non-fatal stroke). Subpopulations were defined using ten selected influential factors, and the differences in cardiovascular efficacy in subpopulations stratified by different influential factors were accessed by synthesizing studies with random-effects models one by one. Results: A total of six cardiovascular outcome trials of long-acting GLP-1RAs, comprising 49,936 participants, were included. Among stratified subpopulations, no significant differences in the cardiovascular efficacy of long-acting GLP-1RAs were observed across the ten characteristics of subjects (all P for interaction > 0.05). Favorable trends were observed in the subpopulation with established cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to that without (P = 0.171). With regards to safety, long-acting GLP-1RAs did not significantly increase the risk of retinopathy (OR 1.09; 95% CI 0.92–1.29; P = 0.316), but increase the risk of serious gastrointestinal events (OR 1.37; 95% CI 1.02–1.83; P = 0.037). Long-acting GLP-1RAs did not significantly increase the risk of serious adverse events (OR 0.92; 95% CI 0.85–1.00; P = 0.039). Conclusions: Our analysis suggested no subpopulation differences in the cardiovascular efficacy of long-acting GLP-1RAs among stratified subpopulations, and favorable trends were only observed in the subpopulation with established CVD. Purpose: High dietary magnesium intake may reduce insulin resistance (IR) and metabolic syndrome (MetS). The aim of the cross-sectional analysis was to evaluate the association between dietary magnesium intake, IR, and MetS using data from China Health and Nutrition Survey. Methods: Dietary magnesium intake was defined as daily dietary magnesium intake divided by body weight. Logistic regression analysis was used to calculate the odds ratio (OR) for IR and the prevalence of MetS across the quartile categories of dietary magnesium intake. In addition, we used the macro PROCESS to perform the mediation analyses. Results: A total of 8120 participants were included in the final analysis. We found a significant negative association between dietary magnesium intake and IR, the multivariable-adjusted OR for HOMA-IR comparing the highest to the lowest quartile of dietary magnesium intake was 0.435 (95% confidence intervals [CI] 0.376 to 0.502). The prevalence of the MetS was 38.6%, 28.9%, 22.5%, and 16.5% for increasing quartiles of dietary magnesium intake (p < 0.001). The mediation model analysis displayed that insulin resistance mediated the effect of dietary magnesium on MetS. The direct effect and indirect effect of dietary magnesium on MetS were found significant, and the calculated percentage of mediation by insulin resistance was 19.6%. Conclusion: Our study demonstrated a significant and independent negative relationship among weight-adjusted dietary magnesium intake, HOMA-IR, and MetS in a large Chinese population. Determining effective traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatments for specific disease conditions or particular patient groups is a difficult issue that necessitates investigation because of the complicated personalized manifestations in real-world patients and the individualized combination therapies prescribed in clinical settings. In this study, a multistage analysis method that integrates propensity case matching, complex network analysis, and herb set enrichment analysis was proposed to identify effective herb prescriptions for particular diseases (e.g., insomnia). First, propensity case matching was applied to match clinical cases. Then, core network extraction and herb set enrichment were combined to detect core effective herb prescriptions. Effectiveness-based mutual information was used to detect strong herb-symptom relationships. This method was applied on a TCM clinical data set with 955 patients collected from well-designed observational studies. Results revealed that groups of herb prescriptions with higher effectiveness rates (76.9% vs. 42.8% for matched samples; 94.2% vs. 84.9% for all samples) compared with the original prescriptions were found.
