Abstract

Research in an outpatient setting indicates that 10 mg of olanzapine is effective in fostering weight gain among anorexic patients who do not exhibit symptoms of bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, or schizophrenia. Most patients achieved an average weight gain of over 8 lbs.

Abstract

A study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of quetiapine in reducing scores on the positive and negative syndrome scale (PANSS) in anorexia nervosa (AN) patients and also in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Quetiapine was well-tolerated and patients had significant improvements in several subscales of the PANSS as well as decreases in measures of anxiety and depression.

Abstract

The article presents a study which examined the reliability of the short diagnostic interview for children with DSM-IV and ICD-10 psychiatric disorders called Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview for Children and Adolescents (MINI-KID). Results showed that the use of the MINI-KID along with the Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School Aged Children - Present and Lifetime Version (K-SADS-PL) reveals concordance for mood, and eating disorders. It also found that MINI-KID is valid and reliable for psychiatric evaluation.
