In this study, graphene nanoplatelets were applied to polyester fabrics using the knife‐coating method at different concentrations (50, 100, and 150 g/kg). SEM, DSC, and TGA/DTG analyses were performed. The influence of graphene coating on hydrophobicity and surface roughness was examined by water contact angle (WCA) measurement and root mean square roughness, respectively. Abrasion resistance and tear strength tests were also performed. The effect of graphene used as a filler on the flammability of polyester fabric was evaluated for the first time according to the BS 5852 standard. No significant weight loss (only in the range of 0.4%–1.5%) was observed in the graphene‐coated samples even after 100,000 cycles. While the WCA value was 0 for the uncoated fabric, the blind coating and maximum graphene‐coated sample measured 86° and 95°, respectively. The coating process reduced the roughness of the base fabric, and the decrease continued with the increasing graphene ratio. The tear strength values that were 45.5 N in the warp and 53.6 N in the weft direction in the blind coating, increased to 52.2 and 59.1 N, respectively, at the maximum graphene concentration. Epoxy resins, known for their excellent properties, are widely used thermosetting resins, but their tendency towards brittle fracture limits their applications. This study addresses this issue by preparing graphene oxide via the Hummer method, modifying it with hyperbranched polyamide ester, and reducing it with hydrazine hydrate to obtain functionalized graphene. This functionalized graphene improves compatibility with epoxy resin. Using a novel two-phase extraction method, different ratios of functionalized graphene/epoxy composites were prepared and tested for mechanical properties and thermal stability. The results showed significant improvements: the tensile strength of composites with 0.1 wt% functionalized graphene increased by 77% over pure epoxy resin, flexural strength by 56%, and glass transition temperature by 50°C. These enhancements, attributed to the improved compatibility between graphene and epoxy resin, demonstrate the potential of functionalized graphene to mitigate the brittleness of epoxy resins, expanding their application potential. A lithium‐ion battery separator facilitates lithium‐ion transportation and prevents direct contact between the cathode and anode. Polyimide separators exhibited superior thermal stability and electrolyte wettability. In this study, carboxylated polyimide separators were prepared by electrospinning carboxyl group‐containing monomers. Polyimide separators were prepared with different content of carboxyl group‐containing monomer. Moreover, the thermal property, mechanical property, and electrochemical performance of separators were studied. The carboxylated polyimide separators exhibited lower interfacial resistance and higher ionic conductivity compared with polyimide separators. Moreover, the LiFePO4/Li half‐cell assembled using the carboxylated polyimide exhibited enhanced cycling stability and rate capability. Although significant efforts have been undertaken to explore the toughening of epoxy resins, it remains challenges to establish a simple and effective toughening technique which does not compromise its strength, thermal stability and processing performance. In this paper, toluene‐diisocyanate‐trimer (TDI‐T) was utilized to manufacture a novel epoxy‐terminated dendritic modifier TDI‐T glycol diglycidyl ether (TDI‐T GLDE). When the addition of TDI‐T GLDE reaches 20% of the resin mass, the tensile strength, tensile elongation, compressive strength and impact strength were increased by 28.1%, 75%, 24.8%, and 138.0% respectively, compared to E‐51. The thermal properties of the samples have been improved, including an increased glass transition temperature (Tg) from 68.2 to 73.2°C, as well as an increase in the initial decomposition temperature from 240.6 to 257.7°C. The toughening mechanism of TDI‐T GLDE was studied through a combination of mechanical performance tests, thermal performance tests, and resin fracture surface morphology analysis. Phosphors with multifunctional applications have attracted extensive research, especially in thermometer and anti‐counterfeiting fields. Herein, a series of Pr3+‐doped YNbO4 (YNO) phosphors with adjustable photoluminescence and red persistent luminescence (PersL) performances are developed. YNO host exhibits the blue self‐activated luminescence, and the different Pr3+ emission peaks possess various thermal stability properties due to the thermal quenching channel generated by the intervalence charge transfer state between Pr3+ and Nb5+ ions. Two kinds of fluorescence intensity ratio models with high absolute and relative sensitivities are realized to measure the temperature under dual‐wavelength excitation. Moreover, YNO:Pr3+ exhibits the red PersL with a duration of about 120 s upon ceasing the UV excitation light source. The fabricated YNO:Pr3+‐polydimethylsiloxane films display different luminescence patterns with the passage of time after turning off UV light, which can cleverly achieve dynamic conversion. These results demonstrate that YNO:Pr3+ phosphor has potential applications in dual‐wavelength excited thermometry and dynamic anti‐counterfeiting fields. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Highlights A fluorinated polyimide (PI‐FTD) was synthesized for preparing a thermally conductive PI matrix and composites. Additionally, surface‐treated boron nitride (BN) was incorporated into the PI‐FTD via the solution casting method to form efficient heat paths along the through‐plane direction. The resultant composite demonstrated remarkable characteristics, including an impressive through‐plane thermal conductivity of 3.6 W mK−1, a substantial tensile strength of 69.4 MPa, and excellent thermal stability. When this composite was applied to light‐emitting diodes, it effectively managed heat, reducing the operating temperature by 29°C. The PI‐FTD/BN‐OH composites can potentially improve thermal management in electronic devices. A novel fluorinated polyimide (PI‐FTD) was fabricated. Introducing CF3 functionalities in the PI‐FTD provides high thermal stability. BN‐OH reinforced the thermal and mechanical properties of the composites. The annual changes of the scallop’s adductor muscle in Ca2+-ATPase activity, chymotryptic digestion, endogenous fluorescence spectra, sulfhydryl content, and surface hydrophobicity were studied. Ca2+-ATPase activity peaked in February and reached its minimum in August for males and in July for females. However, no significant differences were observed between males and females throughout the year. The inactivation rate of Ca2+-ATPase activity increased by 17- to 36-fold when the temperature rose from 38°C to 45°C. The ratio of free myosin to bound myosin was approximately 5:4 at 0.5  M KCl and changed to 5:1 at 1.0  M, as determined by modeling. Chymotryptic digestion demonstrated that scallop myosin could be cleaved into S-1/rod portions at 0.1  M and HMM/LMM at 0.5  M KCl. Furthermore, no significant seasonal variations were observed in chymotryptic digestion patterns, endogenous fluorescence, surface hydrophobicity, or sulfhydryl content. Polylactic acid (PLA) composite serve as widely used filaments in fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printing. This study investigates the enhancement of PLA composite's comprehensive mechanical properties and thermal stability through the incorporation of carbon fiber (CF). The influence of FDM process parameters on the mechanical properties of PLA composite is also analyzed. Results show that adding 5 wt.% CF significantly enhances the stiffness and comprehensive mechanical properties of PLA composite. The order of printing factors affecting the tensile strength of the PLA composite product is as follows: printing layer thickness, bottom plate temperature, printing speed, and nozzle temperature. Finally, optimal tensile strength is achieved under specific conditions: 0.1 mm layer thickness, 60 °C bottom plate temperature, 40 mm/s printing speed, and 215 °C nozzle temperature. Highlights High temperature shape memory polymers (HT‐SMPs) have great utilization in self‐deployable hinges/morphing structures for space/aerospace, and high‐temperature sensors/actuators for electronics. However, HT‐SMPs have many drawbacks, such as low stiffness, strength, thermal stability, and dynamic mechanical properties. This work aims at improving these properties of highly utilized space grade HT‐SMP, PEKK (polyether ketone ketone), by reinforcing it with low‐cost carbon fibers (CFs), and developing its composite via additive manufacturing. The additively manufactured CF/PEKK composites are annealed at 200 °C (CF/PEKK‐A200) and 250 °C (CF/PEKK‐A250), and for the first time, investigated for shape memory effect (SME). The shape fixity and the shape recovery of the CF/PEKK‐UNA (un‐annealed), CF/PEKK‐A200, and CF/PEKK‐A250 are noted to be 95.97%, 88.95%, and 86.40%, and 88.70%, 92.70%, and 95.19%, respectively with a significant weight saving potential of ⁓21%. Dispersion of CFs in PEKK and suitability of processing parameters (blending, extrusion, and 3D printing) are confirmed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Thermal degradation temperature (Td$$ {T}_d $$) of the printed CF/PEKK composite (⁓568 °C) is found to be ⁓3.5% higher than PEKK (⁓549 °C). CF/PEKK‐A250 exhibited the highest storage modulus (4438.23 MPa), ~158% higher than PEKK (1722.3 MPa), while CF/PEKK‐A200 demonstrated the highest tensile modulus (10.9 GPa), which is 138.5% higher than PEKK (4.57 GPa) and 312.88% higher than CF/PEKK‐UNA (2.64 GPa). Moreover, CF/PEKK‐A200 exhibited 237.46%, 138.51%, 127.08%, 61.48%, 32.93%, and 50.35% higher tensile modulus than PEEK, PEKK, PEK, CF/PEK, CF/PEEK, and CF/PEKK composites, respectively, showing great potential to replace them. Printed CF/PEKK composites are investigated for shape memory behavior. The printed composites exhibited outstanding shape memory properties. Printed‐A200 exhibited 138.51% enhanced tensile modulus than pure PEKK. Also, the printed‐A200 showed 313% enhanced modulus than printed‐UNA. Highlights The homogeneous dispersion of multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in a polymer matrix significantly affects the overall properties of composites. In this study, MWCNTs/epoxy (EP) composites were prepared using DeoxyriboNucleic acid (DNA) as a dispersant. The MWCNTs were uniformly dispersed in a phenalkamine curing agent and crosslinked with an epoxy resin matrix. The non‐covalent functionalization of DNA‐dispersed MWCNTs was confirmed by characterizing both the pristine and DNA‐modified MWCNTs. Additionally, the dispersion state and stability of MWCNTs in the curing agent solution were evaluated. Tensile strength and single‐lap‐shear (SLS) were employed to assess the mechanical properties of the composites. The results indicated that the DNA‐dispersed MWCNTs composites exhibited superior strength and toughness, with tensile and shear strengths of 46.81 and 19.64 MPa, respectively, at optimal ratios. These values represent increases of 68.38% and 50.96% compared to pure EP. Dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) revealed that the energy storage modulus of DNA‐dispersed MWCNTs/EP composites increased to 2722 MPa, a 24.7% enhancement over pure EP. Furthermore, the thermal properties of the composites were thoroughly investigated. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that the initial decomposition temperature of the DNA‐assisted dispersed composites rose to 330°C. The macromolecular relaxation of the EP materials occurred at higher temperatures, leading to an increased glass transition temperature. DNA was used to disperse MWCNTs in phenalkamine curing agent. MWCNTs/EP composites were made by crosslinking DNA‐dispersed MWCNTs with epoxy resin. DNA‐dispersed MWCNTs boosted tensile and lap shear strength. Composites are fabricating by reinforcing waste bambara nut shell powder (BNSP) as a bio-filler into an epoxy resin matrix. The composite is fabricated by varying the mass fractions of filler in the range of 5–35 wt%. The effects of bio-filler content on physical, mechanical, and thermal properties are evaluated. The studies reveal that the tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural strength, and impact strength increased with increasing bio-filler content. The highest mechanical properties of BNSP-loaded epoxy composites are achieved at bio-filler mass content of 15 wt%, whereas hardness increased for 5–35 wt% with peak value at 35 wt%. The water absorption and thickness swelling of the BNSF/epoxy composites increased with increasing bio-filler contents, while the density decreased with an increase in bio-filler content. The TGA results revealed that an increasing bio-filler content decreased thermal stability, whereas the Tg and Tm of the composites increased with increasing bio-filler content. Background: Hyaluronic acid liquid‐core hydrogel beads (HA‐LHB) is a good way for oral intake of HA. However, HA may affect the reaction–diffusion of sodium alginate (SA) and Ca2+ leading to poor mechanical properties, since HA is a polyanionic electrolyte having electrostatic effect and a certain spatial site‐blocking effect. Results: The mechanical properties of HA‐LHB were modified from bathing solution, core solution and secondary calcium bath time. The mechanical properties varied with the SA structure and concentration in bathing solution, where SA with high G (guluronic acid) segment compounded with SA with high M (mannuronic acid) segment at a mass ratio of 7:3 with a 11 g kg−1 concentration showed the best mechanical properties. The secondary calcium bath can greatly improve the mechanical properties due to the tight network formed by bidirectional crosslinking, and 15 min reaction reached the plateau if Ca2+ is sufficient. And the mechanical properties were positively correlated with calcium lactate concentration only at <70 g kg−1 in core solution, but the diffusion of Ca2+ was hindered by the tight gel network at higher concentrations. Moreover, the mechanical properties can be maintained during heat treatment, due to the rearrangement of alginate network structure. Conclusion: Our results suggested that the problem of poor mechanical properties of LHB in the presence of high HA concentration can be avoided by process control, which may broaden the development of HA and popping boba market. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry. Lithium‐ion batteries are widely used in various industrial and consumer applications. One key point is the thermal stability of these batteries regarding safety. Thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) are ideal methods to study the thermal properties of differently charged electrode materials without safety issues associated with thermal runaway tests of the complete cell. This study shows a significant relationship between state of charge (SOC) and power released by the electrode material during the heating process. For the utilized cathode material LixCoO2, a linear relationship is apparent between the decomposition temperature and the decomposition energy, enabling estimation of the SOC. The decomposition temperature of differently charged anode material strongly correlates with the selected heating rate. This study reveals substantial dependencies of the measured power on the utilized crucibles, providing a systematic approach to benchmark the impact of crucible type on observed DSC signals during battery component analysis. Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) are a family of thermoplastic elastomers with great properties such as high elongation and excellent chemical and abrasion resistance, which are processable by conventional melting methods. Nevertheless, TPUs lose mechanical properties and thermal stability at higher temperatures. In this work, we designed and synthesized a new TPU with limited crosslinking of the soft segments in order to improve its performance at high temperatures while preserving processability. Additionally, the new TPU maintains its transparency. With the incorporation of 10% trifunctional polyol, the Tg was increased by 7°C, the storage modulus at room temperature (25°C) was improved by 412 MPa (136%), the rubbery plateau was extended by 32°C and the thermal stability was enhanced by 4°C at T5. Moreover, the TPU with controlled crosslinking of the soft segments shows exceptional creep behavior both at room temperature and at 150°C, where the creep rate decreased by 80%. The new TPU shows limited decrease in tensile properties and can be processed by conventional thermoplastic processing techniques. Bamboo fiber has garnered considerable attention owing to its high specific strength and renewability. However, the hydrophilic nature of the material must be carefully managed to create a bamboo composite with usable thermal‐mechanical properties. Herein, the NaOH‐treated bamboo fiber (particle size ≤200 μm) was used to produce bamboo charcoal (BC). Then, recycled low‐density polyethylene containing BC composites was fabricated by varying the BC composition (between 2 and 8 wt%). Effects of different BC wt% in the BC/recycled low‐density polyethylene composites (denoted as xBCPE, where x indicates BC wt% in the composites) were analyzed for tensile strength, morphology, and thermal properties. In addition, the water absorption capacities of the BCPE composites were compared. These xBCPE composites showed excellent thermal stability and low water absorption properties. Therefore, they are potential candidate materials for electrical device packaging with partial degradability. Highlights Increasing the thermal stability and thermal conductivity of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is a crucial issue for thermal applications. This paper focuses on enhancing PDMS's thermal and structural properties by incorporating nanocomposite into the PDMS matrix. An investigation of the impact of rGO‐CaCO3 nanocomposite on the thermal and structural properties of PDMS was performed using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), the thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis (TGA‐DTA), and thermal analyzer tests. It was observed that PDMS doped with rGO‐CaCO3 nanocomposite shows better thermal stability, thermal conductivity, and higher crystallinity. The thermal stability was enhanced significantly by adding a 5% rGO‐CaCO3 nanocomposite, and the initial and end degradation temperatures rose to 492°C and 605°C, respectively. The thermal conductivity of pure PDMS is approximately 0.17 W/mK, whereas a conductive elastomer filled with 5% rGO‐CaCO3 nanocomposite exhibits a thermal conductivity of 0.44 W/mK at a temperature of 20°C. In contrast, the thermal diffusivity is enhanced from 0.13 mm2/s to 0.366 mm2/s. Additionally, the Fourier Transform Infra‐Red (FTIR) spectrum at 1411 cm−1 becomes sharp and noisy, and an additional peak arises at 1398 cm−1, corresponding to the vibrational rocking of the CC bond and COC bond in CaCO3 and rGO. The manuscript focuses on the development of conductive elastomer by incorporating rGO‐CaCO3 doped and its effect on the morphology, structure, and thermal properties of PDMS. The variation in peak intensity observed in XRD attributed to disparities in the crystalline structure of PDMS due to the inclusion of nanocomposite. The thermal degradation range is observed to shift toward the upper end. The degradation temperature at the beginning and end of the process is observed to move to 492°C and 605°C, respectively, upon introducing a 5% rGO‐CaCO3 nanocomposite. The concurrent enhancement of toughness, electrical conductivity, and thermal stability in polycrystalline diamond composites represents a formidable challenge. Here, a novel diamond-TiC composites (referred to as DTC) with high fracture toughness and conductivity were synthesized through a high-temperature and high-pressure reaction sintering process utilizing two precursors: diamond mixtures containing TiH 2 and Ti-coated diamonds. On the one hand, the inherent bonding and encasing of TiC onto the diamond matrix form a heterogeneous structure, providing high strength and excellent fracture toughness up to 11.6 MPa·m1/2. On the other hand, the established oxygen barrier and current pathway offer a thermal stability of 765 °C and high conductivity up to 837 S·m−1. Remarkably, this rare combination of mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties has been realized within a single material under relatively moderate sintering conditions, thus positioning diamond-TiC composites as a promising ceramic for electrical applications in high-stress environments. Highlights The over‐loading of heat‐resistant fillers in silicone rubber creates a contradiction between heat resistance and mechanical properties, thus greatly limiting the durability of silicone rubber products in cutting‐edge applications and complex scenarios. To address this issue, silicone rubber was filled with octavinyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) and carbon nanotubes (CNT) and crosslinked with 2,5‐dimethyl‐2,5‐di(tert‐butylperoxy)hexane (DBPMH) in an attempt to obtain composites with excellent mechanical properties and great thermal stability. Optical microscopy and X‐ray diffraction analyses revealed the size of POSS crystals decreased and the characteristic peaks disappeared after the peroxide crosslinked the polymer at elevated temperature. Specifically, silicone rubber composite filled with 0.1 phr POSS and 1.0 phr CNT exhibited a tensile strength of 10.2 MPa and elongation at a break of 450%. Further, the strength and elongation could be kept after thermo‐oxidative aging at 250°C for 32 h. Thermogravimetric analysis results demonstrate that the addition of POSS and CNT into silicone rubber exhibits a synergistic effect, markedly improving the thermal stability of the material. This method provides a valuable reference for manufacturing silicone rubber products that possess both excellent mechanical properties and high thermal stability under extreme working conditions. To further increasing the toughness performance of thermoset resins without sacrificing their other properties is still a challenge task. In this study, the soft core–soft shell nanoparticles based on polydopamine‐modified cellulose nanocrystals (P‐CNC) were synthesized and seamlessly integrated with Bisphenol A‐aniline benzoxazine (BA‐a). Notably, the results underscore the remarkable impact of a mere 0.2 wt% of P‐CNC on BA‐a, boosting the impact strength of the modified system to 19.5 kJ/m2. This achievement represents a substantial 140.7% increase compared with pure polybenzoxazine. Moreover, the flexural strength reaches 133.4 MPa, surpassing pure polybenzoxazine by 16.2%. And the modified system exhibits a 10% weight loss temperature (Td10) at 321.7°C, accompanied by a char yield of 27.6%. This holistic approach results in a notable enhancement of the toughness performance while concurrently maintaining the flexural strength and the thermal stability of the modified system. Consequently, the integration of soft core–soft shell nanoparticles emerges as a promising strategy for enhancing thermoset resin properties without undermining their existing exceptional attributes. A series of halloysite nanotube‐silica (HNTs‐SiO2) nanocomposite fillers were prepared by in‐situ assembly, and a reinforced SiO2/SR composite was obtained by filling them into silicone rubber (SR). The morphology and structural characterization of HNTs‐SiO2 and HNTs‐SiO2/SR and the properties of the HNTs‐SiO2/SR were studied. As a result, the small particle size SiO2 was firmly anchored onto the HNTs surface, and the obtained HNTs‐SiO2 nanofillers were uniformly dispersed in SR. At a 30 phr fixed filler loading, the weakest filler network and the best filler dispersion were obtained when HNTs content in HNTs‐SiO2 was 5%. This resulted in a maximum tensile strength obtained of 6.2 MPa, 1.55 times that of SiO2/SR with the same filler loading, and a maximum elongation at break of 418%, 1.67 times that of the SiO2/SR with the same filler loading, and at the same time the tearing strength and hardness are also improved. Furthermore, the silicone rubber also showed improved thermal stability, with an initial degradation temperature increase of 30°C under a nitrogen atmosphere. Walnut cake has the potential for use in preparing wood adhesives because of its richness in protein and carbohydrate. In this work, walnut cakes were treated with sodium periodate or potassium permanganate and then were directly used as wood adhesives. Their bonding properties, curing performances, thermal properties, and chemical structures were compared. The results showed that: (1) The oxidation by KMnO4was nonselective. The reaction was very intense, accompanied by the great variability of oxidation degree and degradation degree, enormous viscosity of oxidation products, high coating difficulty, and low content of active aldehyde groups. (2) The oxidation by NaIO4 was selective; the reaction was mild and easy to control. More active aldehydes could be produced and the treatment was beneficial for constructing a spatial net structure of the adhesive. (3) Compared with oxidation of KMnO4, the walnut cake adhesive prepared by NaIO4 oxidation exhibited a more compact structure, a higher crosslinking degree, low curing temperature, and high thermal stability after curing; its bonding performances met the requirements for Class II plywood specified in GB/T 17657(2013). Silicone resins are widely used in various fields because of their excellent high thermal stability. To improve their comprehensive performances, many organic resins have been used for modification of silicone resins. In this article, silicone resins containing phthalonitrile groups were synthesized by the reaction of the silicone resin containing amino groups and 4-(2-oxiranylmethoxy)-1,2-benzenedicarbonitrile. The structures of phthalonitrile-modified silicone resins were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR). The curing process was characterized by differential scanning calorimetry and FT-IR. Thermogravimetric analysis results showed that the cured modified silicone resins had good thermal stabilities. Dynamic mechanical analysis indicated that they owned high glass transition temperature, suggesting that silicone resins containing phthalonitrile groups have high-temperature resistance. To meet the current demand for lead-free piezoelectric ceramics, a novel sol-gel synthesis route is presented for the preparation of Ba0.85Ca0.15Ti0.9Zr0.1O3 doped with cerium (Ce = 0, 0.01, and 0.02 mol%) and vanadium (V = 0, 0.3, and 0.4 mol%). X-ray diffraction patterns reveal the formation of a perovskite phase (space group P4mm) for all samples after calcination at 800 °C and sintering at 1250, 1350, and 1450 °C, where it is proposed that both dopants occupy the B site. Sintering studies show that V doping allows the sintering temperature to be reduced to at least 1250 °C. Undoped BCZT samples sintered at the same temperature show reduced functional properties compared to V-doped samples, i.e., d33 values increase by an order of magnitude with doping. The dissipation factor tan δ decreases with increasing sintering temperature for all doping concentrations, while the Curie temperature TC increases for all V-doped samples, reaching 120 °C for high-concentration co-doped samples. All results indicate that vanadium doping can facilitate the processing of BCZT at lower sintering temperatures without compromising performance while promoting thermal property stability. Cellulose acetate (CA) has found broad applications for many years. However, the development of mechanically strengthened CA materials without losing the processibility in solution remains quite difficult. In this work, novel CA thermosets are reported that can be readily constructed by employing alkyl diboronic acid as a crosslinking agent, which has allowed convenient reconfiguration of CA networks without demanding catalysts or harsh processing conditions. Various properties including thermal stability, creeping resistance, rheological and mechanical strength have been successfully improved by using small amounts (1–5 wt%) of diboronic acid. The dynamic cross‐linked network based on boron chemistry has facilitated solution processing during three times of recycling. Control experiments have shown that alkyl diboronic acid can deliver superior mechanical strength to CA as compared to aryl diboronic acid or single‐arm alkyl boronic acid. Purpose: One of the low-cost minerals that can be used as reinforcing filler in polymer industry is pumice powder. Pumice is a highly porous volcanic glass formed during explosive eruptions. This pumice has received significant interest because of its large surface area with various polar groups and can be processed easily. Design/methodology/approach: This study is carried out to investigate the effect of partial replacement of silica (as traditional filler) by naturally occurring pumice powder to improve the thermal and mechanical properties of nitrile butadiene rubber cured with electron beam radiation (doses from 25 to 150 kGy). Findings: The results indicated that the addition of pumice powder increase the tensile strength at lower doses up to 75 kGy (especially at concentration of 5 phr). Besides, an improvement in the thermal stability was attained with the addition of pumice powder. Originality/value: Pumice powder is volcanic-based alumina and silica which is mainly composed of SiO2. It has porous structure which is formed by dissolved gases precipitated during the cooling as the lava hurtles through air. Due to its porous structure, it has low density and high thermal insulation. Ceramic fibers are an important thermal insulation material that are not only widely used in extreme conditions, but also play an important role in energy conservation and energy efficiency for sustainable development. However, the practical application of conventional ceramic fibers has a high thermal conductivity in high-temperature environments, which hinders their widespread application. Here, a novel lamellar structured porous SiTiOC/C composite ceramic materials was designed and prepared with excellent thermal insulating properties. The unique microstructure endowed the porous SiTiOC/C composite ceramic materials with a high IR refractive index (93.81%) and an ultra-low thermal conductivity (0.0562 W·m−1 K−1 at 600 ℃). In addition, the porous SiTiOC/C composite ceramic materials not only exhibited excellent mechanical properties (4.46 MPa at 800 ℃), but also demonstrated impressive oxidation resistance and thermal stability. In recent years, the packaging industry has utilized electronic packaging materials with epoxy resin (EP) and high‐performance fillers, exhibiting superior mechanical properties and thermal conductivity. Spherical silica micro‐powder (SSP) is a critical thermal conductive filler but faces challenges due to its inorganic nature. Surface modification is essential to improve SSP's compatibility and dispersion in organic matrices for effective use in EP‐based composites. In this paper, the effects of the following four modification methods on SSP/EP composites were studied: (1) the processes include co‐modification with dimethyldimethoxysilane (DMDMS) and trimethylethoxysilane (MTES), (2) modification with NaOH, (3) co‐modification with DMDMS and MTES in an alkaline environment after NaOH modification, and (4) co‐modification with methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) and propyltrimethoxysilane (PTMOS). Through comprehensive characterization and evaluation, it is evident that modification schemes 1, 3, and 4 significantly enhance SSP's hydrophobicity, dispersibility, and compatibility with EP. This led to the improvement of thermal conductivity and stability of the composite, and modification scheme 4 showed the highest enhancement, with a 42.6% increase in thermal conductivity. Moreover, the mechanical properties of modified composite materials, such as bending strength, impact resistance, and tensile strength, surpass those of unmodified SSP/EP composite materials. In this study, we succesfully synthesized bio‐benzoxazine resins using eugenol, a bio‐based phenolic compound, in combination with three distinct functional amines: ethanamine, aniline, and hexane‐1,6‐diamine. Characterization of the resulting bio‐benzoxazine resins, namely E‐ea (eugenol, ethanamine), E‐a (eugenol, aniline), and E‐dh (eugenol, hexane‐1,6‐diamine), was performed through 1H NMR spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, high‐resolution mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. Thermal properties were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for both the eugenol‐derived bio‐benzoxazines (E‐ea, E‐a, E‐dh) and their corresponding polybenzoxazines (PE‐ea, PE‐a, PE‐dh). Notably, all eugenol‐based polybenzoxazines exhibited excellent thermal stability with very similar characteristics. Our findings suggest that the presence of allyl groups in eugenol promoted a more cross‐linked network structure compared to other functional groups on amines. As a result, eugenol‐derived bio‐benzoxazines demonstrated superior thermal properties, illustrated by their impressive char yields: PE‐ea; 45.6%, PE‐a; 45.1%, and PE‐dh; 44.1%. Scholars are looking for solutions to substitute hazardous substances in manufacturing nanocellulose from bio-sources to preserve the world's growing environmental consciousness. During the past decade, there has been a notable increase in the use of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) in modern science and nanotechnology advancements because of their abundance, biocompatibility, biodegradability, renewability, and superior mechanical properties. Spherical cellulose nanocrystals (J–CNCs) were successfully synthesized from Jenfokie micro-cellulose (J–MC) via sulfuric acid hydrolysis in this study. The yield (up to 58.6%) and specific surface area (up to 99.64 m2/g) of J–CNCs were measured. A field emission gun–scanning electron microscope (FEG-SEM) was used to assess the morphology of the J–MC and J–CNC samples. The spherical shape nanoparticles with a mean nano-size of 34 nm for J–CNCs were characterized using a transmission electron microscope (TEM). X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to determine the crystallinity index and crystallinity size of J–CNCs, up to 98.4% and 6.13 nm, respectively. The chemical composition was determined using a Fourier transform infrared (FT–IR) spectroscope. Thermal characterization of thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), derivative thermogravimetry (DTG), and differential thermal analysis (DTA) was conducted to identify the thermal stability and cellulose pyrolysis behavior of both J–MC and J–CNC samples. The thermal analysis of J–CNC indicated lower thermal stability than J–MC. It was noted that J–CNC showed higher levels of crystallinity and larger crystallite sizes than J–MC, indicating a successful digestion and an improvement of the main crystalline structure of cellulose. The X-ray diffraction spectra and TEM images were utilized to establish that the nanocrystals' size was suitable. Rigid porous polymeric monoliths are robust, highly efficient, versatile stationary phases. They offer simple preparation and convenient modification provided by a whole range of synthesis factors, e.g., starting monomers, cross-linkers, initiators, porogens, polymerization techniques, and temperature. The main aim of this study was to synthesize polymeric monoliths and determine the correlation between polymerization parameters and the porosity and thermal stability of the obtained materials. Polymeric monoliths were synthesized directly in HPLC columns using N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (NVP) and 4-vinylpiridine (4VP) as functional monomers, with trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) serving as the cross-linking monomer. During copolymerization a mixture of cyclohexanol/decane-1-ol was used as the pore-forming diluent. Polymerization was carried out at two different temperatures: 55 and 75 °C. As a result, monoliths with highly developed internal structure were synthesized. The value of their specific surface area was in the range of 92 m2/g to 598 m2/g, depending on the monomer composition and polymerization temperature. Thermal properties of the obtained materials were investigated by means of thermogravimetry (TG). Significant differences in thermal behavior were noticed between monoliths synthesized at 55 and 75 °C. Additionally, the poly(NVP-co-TRIM) monolith was successfully applied in GC analyses. The customization of polymeric prototypes is available to meet the specific needs of individual patients, considering tissue location and patient‐specific characteristics. Poly (butylene adipate‐co‐terephthalate) (PBAT) has shown great promise among various polymers in this scenario due to its biodegradability and processability properties. However, the effect of geometry changes on the mechanical properties of PBAT 3D scaffolds and their mechanical stability after in vitro degradation are crucial to determining the final application. This study focuses on the structural, morphological, and mechanical characterization of PBAT prototypes with different architectures and evaluating their mechanical properties before and after in vitro degradation. Three‐dimensional structures were 3D printed with rectilinear deposition angles of 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, and 90°. Mechanical tests revealed that the prototype architecture influenced the stiffness, elongation, and maximum tension, where a greater resistance was observed for filaments containing the lowest angles. The thermal stability of PBAT remained unaffected either by reprocessing or hydrolytic degradation; however, in vitro degradation affected the mechanical behavior by increasing the stiffness and decreasing the elongation of the scaffold. Biological assays have demonstrated the nontoxic nature of PBAT and its potential to promote cell viability at a rate of 95%. These findings underscore the possibility of optimizing the PBAT design and structure to tune the mechanical properties and contribute to advancing tissue engineering strategies. Functional cyclophosphazenes have proven to be effective modifiers of polymer materials, significantly improving their performance properties, such as adhesive characteristics, mechanical strength, thermal stability, fire resistance, etc. In this study, 4-(β-carboxyethenyl)phenoxy-phenoxycyclotriphosphazenes (CPPP) were obtained by the condensation of 4-formylphenoxy-phenoxycyclotriphosphazene with malonic acid. Its structure was studied using 31P, 1H, and 13C NMR spectroscopy and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, and the thermal properties were determined by DSC and TGA methods. Molecular modeling using the MM2 method showed that CPPPs are nanosized with diameters of spheres described around the molecules in the range of 1.34–1.93 nm, which allows them to be classified as nanosized structures. The epoxy resin DER-331 was cured with CPPP, and the conversion of epoxy groups was assessed using IR spectroscopy. Using optical interferometry, it was shown that CPPPs are well compatible with epoxy resin in the temperature range from 80 to 130 °C. It was established that the cured epoxy composition was fire resistant, as it successfully passed the UL-94 vertical combustion test due to the formation of porous coke during the combustion process and also had high heat resistance and thermal stability (decomposition onset temperature about 300 °C, glass transition temperature 230 °C). The composition has low water absorption, high resistance to fresh and salt water, fire resistance, and adhesive strength to steel and aluminum (11 ± 0.2 MPa), which makes it promising for use as an adhesive composition for gluing parts in the shipbuilding and automotive industries, the aviation industry, and radio electronics. In this study, the thermal characterisation of natural rock samples from Zimbabwe for low‐temperature industrial thermal energy storage (TES) applications was carried out. Thermal stability, specific heat capacity, thermal diffusivity, thermal conductivity and density were determined. Variations in these parameters were evaluated and their impact on thermal storage performance was analysed. Basalt and dolerite samples from different locations were found to have average specific heat capacities of 826 and 853 J/kg K, respectively, at room temperature. Insignificant variations were observed with differences of 3.4% for basalt and 1.7% for dolerite samples. Also, negligible differences of 0.3% and 0.7% in densities for rocks of the same type but of different origins were obtained for basalt and dolerite samples, respectively. However, significant variations in thermal diffusivity of all the igneous and metamorphic samples were observed with quartzite rock exhibiting the highest value of 2.1 × 10−6 m2/s, while the values for the other samples range from 0.9 × 10−6 to 1.6 × 10−6 m2/s. This implies that the thermal efficiency of sensible TES systems that use different or the same rock types from different locations can be significantly high to be overlooked. This paper presents a comprehensive investigation into the thermal stability of superlattice-like (SLL) thin films fabricated by varying the sputtering sequences of the SLL [Ge8Sb92(25nm)/GeTe(25nm)]1 and SLL [GeTe(25nm)/Ge8Sb92(25nm)]1 configurations. Our results reveal significantly enhanced ten-year data retention (Tten) for both thin films measured at 124.3 °C and 151.9 °C, respectively. These values surpass the Tten of Ge2Sb2Te5 (85 °C), clearly demonstrating the superior thermal stability of the studied SLL configurations. Interestingly, we also observe a distinct difference in the thermal stability between the two SLL configurations. The superior thermal stability of SLL [GeTe(25nm)/Ge8Sb92(25nm)]1 is attributed to the diffusion of the Sb precipitated phase from Ge8Sb92 to GeTe. This diffusion process effectively reduces the impact of the Sb phase on the thermal stability of the thin film. In contrast, in the case of SLL [Ge8Sb92(25nm)/GeTe(25nm)]1, the presence of the Sb precipitated phase in Ge8Sb92 facilitates the crystallization of GeTe, leading to reduced thermal stability. These findings underscore the significant influence of the sputtering sequence on the atomic behavior and thermal properties of superlattice-like phase change materials. Dy 2 O 3 –Sm 2 O 3 co-doped transparent glass ceramics (GCs) containing NaBi(WO 4) 2 crystalline phase were prepared by melt-curing-crystallization method. The optimal heat treatment condition is 580 °C/2 h. The optimum incorporation concentration of Dy 2 O 3 is 0.4%, exceeding which a quenching phenomenon dominated by quadrupole-quadrupole interactions emerges. Meanwhile, when the concentration of Dy 2 O 3 was fixed, the chromaticity coordinate of the sample moved the cool white light region to the warm white light region as the concentration of Sm 2 O 3 increased. The temperature-dependent emission spectra of the 0.4% Dy 2 O 3 -0.7% Sm 2 O 3 co-doped GC samples show that emission intensity at 575 nm at 185 °C still reaches 80% of the room temperature. The thermal quenching activation energy was 0.1537 eV and the activation energy after the addition of Mo6+ was 0.1957 eV. This study indicates that Dy 2 O 3 –Sm 2 O 3 co-doped GCs containing NaBi(WO 4) 2 crystalline phase can achieve light-color tunable emission, which is potentially valuable for solid-state color rendering and illumination applications. In pursuing enhanced performance for electronic applications, we synthesized ferroelectric materials, specifically Ba(1-x)Nd2x/3TiO3 (BNdTx) nanoceramics, utilizing solid-state reaction techniques coupled with microwave heating treatment. Our investigation involved varying Nd3+-doping levels (x = 0%, 2%, 4%, and 8%) to tailor the material's properties. XRD analysis confirmed the presence of a single-phase tetragonal perovskite structure (space group P4mm). A comprehensive examination of the partial density of states for both undoped and Nd3+-doped BaTiO3 was undertaken to discern the impact of Nd3+-doping on the energy bands. Microscopic analysis revealed the presence of pores in the samples, accompanied by a reduction in grain size with increasing Nd3+ content. The introduction of Nd3+ induced a shift in the Curie temperature (TC) towards room temperature. Simultaneously, the dielectric characteristics exhibited a consistent value above 1900, with a low loss of less than 5% observed across a range of temperatures (30–100 °C). Notably, the sample with x = 4% demonstrated thermally stable dielectric properties, suggesting its potential suitability as a material for Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC) applications. Integrating microwave sintering and ball milling techniques is a significant development in advanced materials engineering, specifically in producing Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCC). A novel quinoxaline-based phthalonitrile monomer, namely, 4,4′-(((quinoxaline-2,3-diylbis (oxy))bis (3,1-phenylene))bis (oxy))di-phthalonitrile (QDOP), was successfully synthesized by nucleophilic substitution reaction, which exhibits a low melting point (85°C) and a wide processing window (150°C). The QDOP monomer was cured with 4-aminophenoxy phthalonitrile (APPH) as catalyst by different temperature programs, and the curing process and kinetics were discussed in detail by non-isothermal differential scanning calorimetric (DSC). The QDOP polymer mainly forms triazine, isoindoline and phthalocyanine structure, as revealed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and its properties improved with the increase of post-curing temperature and curing time. After post-curing at 380°C, the polymer exhibited high storage modulus (3731 MPa), high glass-transition temperature (>400°C), and outstanding thermal stability and thermal oxidation stability. Only 0.1% of polyurethanes available on the market are from renewable sources. With increasing concern about climate change, the substitution of monomers derived from petrochemical sources and the application of eco-friendly synthesis processes is crucial for the development of biomaterials. Therefore, polyhydroxyurethanes have been utilized, as their synthesis route allows for the carbonation of vegetable oils with carbon dioxide and the substitution of isocyanates known for their high toxicity, carcinogenicity, and petrochemical origin. In this study, polyhydroxyurethanes were obtained from carbonated soybean oil in combination with two diamines, one that is aliphatic (1,4-butadiamine (putrescine)) and another that is cycloaliphatic (1,3-cyclohexanobis(methylamine)). Four polyhydroxyurethanes were obtained, showing stability in hydrolytic and oxidative media, thermal stability above 200 °C, tensile strength between 0.9 and 1.1 MPa, an elongation at break between 81 and 222%, a water absorption rate up 102%, and contact angles between 63.70 and 101.39. New formulations of bio-based NIPHUs can be developed with the inclusion of a cycloaliphatic diamine (CHM) for the improvement of mechanical properties, which represents a more sustainable process for obtaining NIPHUs with the physicochemical, mechanical, and thermal properties required for the preparation of wound dressings. The uncertainty of the structure of melamine-formaldehye polymer is one of the important factors limiting its widespread application. The chemical reactions of melamine are almost always reversible, so controlling the microstructure is difficult. For the synthesis of polymer particles in water, it is unclear how the type of catalyst affects the microstructure of melamine-formaldehye polymers. Therefore, we conducted a detailed study to understand how different catalyst types(including 10% NaOH, trimethylamine, and a Na2CO3-NaHCO3 buffersolution)affect the hydroxymethylation reaction, structure and the thermal properties of the melamine-formaldehye polymer). The results showed that with the same molar ratio and pH conditions, the use of triethylamine as catalyst in the melamine-formaldehye polymer increased the possibility of side reactions in the hydroxymethylation reaction. However, the occurrence of side reactions has a favorable effect on the thermal properties of melamine-formaldehyepolymers. Specifically, melamine formaldehyde polymers synthesized using triethylamine as a catalyst exhibit higher thermal decomposition characteristic temperatures, lower kinetic values, and higher reactivity. These results provide insights into the effect of catalyst type on the reaction mechanism, microstructure and thermal properties of melamine-formaldehye polymers, which may prove useful for their improved and controlled synthesis. In this study, a highly dense GdB 6 bulk ceramic material was fabricated using one-step in-situ reaction spark plasma sintering technology. The sample with a relative density of 96.7 % and a purity of 96.9 wt% was successfully obtained by sintering at 1800 °C for 30 min under a uniaxial pressure of 50 MPa. The Vickers hardness, elastic modulus and fracture toughness of the as-obtained GdB 6 bulk ceramics were 18.9 GPa, 209 GPa and 1.6 MPa·m1/2, respectively. The thermal conductivity of GdB 6 at room temperature was 28.68 W·m−1·K−1, 70 % of which was mainly attributed to phonon vibration, while the remaining 30 % to the electrical thermal conductivity. In addition, the as-obtained GdB 6 ceramics showed no phase transformation after heat treatment at a relatively high temperature of 2100 °C for 20 min in Ar atmosphere. The highly covalent octahedral boron framework played a critical role in maintaining the phase stability of the GdB 6 crystal lattice. This suggested that GdB 6 ceramics could be used as potential ultra-high temperature ceramics for aerospace applications and high-power vacuum electronic devices operated at high temperatures. Physical parameters are necessary to determine the suitability of the chalcogenide materials for specific applications. The present study reports the physical characteristics of the multicomponent GeTe2-x(SeSb)x (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6) chalcogenide glasses synthesised by the melt-quench technique. The differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) technique has been used at separate heating rates β = 5, 10, 15, 20 °C / min. XRD and SEM–EDX studies have been carried out for structural and morphological analyses. The average coordination number and constraints of the compound have been calculated which indicates that the composition forms a glassy system. Lone pair electrons present in the composition have been evaluated. R parameter has a value greater than 1, indicating that the composition has sufficient chalcogen, chalcogen–chalcogen and heteropolar bonds. The overall bond energy of the compound has been calculated using the chemical bonding approach to understand the fine-structure properties of the compound. Cohesive energy has been observed to increase with composition. Thermal stability, glass transition temperature and glass forming ability of the compound have been calculated using different relations like Saad and Poulin relation, Dieztal relation, Hurby parameter (Hr) and reduced glass transition temperature (Trg) and studied theoretically to examine the thermal stability of the composition that shows that the prepared samples are suitable for data storage. In this work, surface‐modified Ce‐Zr oxides and ZnO nanoparticles were conveniently prepared by dopamine (Dpa) treatment and then composited with epoxy (EP) by hot pressing. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and UV‐shielding properties of the EP composites with surface modification with Dpa‐CZ and Dpa‐ZnO were measured. The TGA results showed that the modified treated fillers had no loss of heat resistance of the matrix and had an enhancement effect on the initial and maximum decomposition temperatures. In addition, the UV‐shielding properties of EP composites after Dpa‐CZ and Dpa‐ZnO modifications both showed a significant enhancement effect compared to pure EP. The T(UVA) of the 0.5 wt% Dpa‐ZnO modified composite decreased to less than 0.017%, and the T(UVB) decreased to less than 0.0059%. The T(UVA) of the 0.5 wt% Dpa‐CZ modified composite decreased to less than 15.98%, and the T(UVB) decreased to below 1.14%. The objective of this work was to investigate the influence of selected drying temperatures (50, 60, and 70 °C) and ethanol treatment (ET) on the degradation of carotenoids (storage at 35 °C for 35 days), thermal features (TGA and DSC; thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetry analysis), and zeta potential of avocado pulp powder produced by foam-mat drying (FMD). Results showed the goodness-of-fitting between the zero and first-order models (R2 > 0.99) for carotenoids degradation kinetics, and further, the ET combined with increasing drying temperatures improved the stabilization of carotenoids during storage. The GAB model presented the best adjustment to the water adsorption isotherms (R2 > 0.99, P < 5%), being classified as type III. Great thermal stability was highlighted by both TGA and DSC curves, pointing out that the main endothermic events were linked to the carbonization of the organic content and degradation of proteins, lipids, and polysaccharides of the powder. In addition, the synergistic effect between drying temperature and ET enhanced the initial, peak, and conclusion temperature and reduced the enthalpy variation. Zeta potential analysis confirmed the stability of FMD-produced avocado powder due to the negative charges ranging from − 29.756 to − 26.826 mV. Overall, these results bring innovative and creative end-uses for avocado in the food industry, establishing FMD as a simple, efficient, and creative process to convert food matrices such as avocado into stable powders. The study focused on the synergistic effect of cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) as a lignocellulosic bionanomaterial and nickel-titanium (NiTi) alloy as a shape memory smart metallic material reinforcer on the thermal properties of sustainable smart composites. The casting process was used to produce composites with CNF loadings of 1%, 3%, and 5% and NiTi loadings of 3% into epoxy resin. Thermal properties were evaluated using thermogravimetric (TGA), derivative thermogravimetric (DTG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and dynamic mechanical thermal (DMTA) analysis. The TGA results revealed that the CNF/NiTi-reinforced groups have considerable higher degradation temperatures and thermal stability than the control group. Also, at 800°C, CNF/NiTi-reinforced groups had a higher residual content than the control group. DTG results showed that the addition of CNFs decreased the degradation speed. Although the NiTi loading was constant, it was determined that the addition of CNFs increases the storage modulus (E′), loss modulus (E″), tan delta (Tan δ), and glass transition temperature (Tg). Overall, it can be concluded that CNF/NiTi-reinforced composites indicated significantly improved thermal stability, decomposition temperature, residual content, elastic, and viscous properties. In civil construction, one of the primary challenges associated with wood application is its high flammability and low durability during fires. Although chemical treatment with fire-retardant properties exists, they are expensive and of non-renewable origin. Tannin, a wood extractive, being a phenolic compound, holds promise for enhancing the thermal properties of wood. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of tannin as a fire retardant and compare it with a commercial product, as well as comparing different application techniques for these products. Wood samples from the Simarouba amara Aubl. species were utilized. Tannin and a commercial flame retardant were applied via immersion, vacuum impregnation, brushing, and a treatment of tannin incorporated into water-based wood varnish. Alongside the burning test performance, assessments of the wood's physical properties, such as colorimetry, thermal stability, and mass retention, were conducted. The application of tannin altered the wood's color and reduced the spread of fire; its presence significantly reduced the flame duration and maintained the wood's structural integrity. However, tannin retention was lower compared to commercial flame retardant, leading to reduced fire retardancy. Starch is present in high amount in various cereals, fruits and roots & tubers which finds major application in industry. Commercially, starch is rarely consumed or processed in its native form, thus modification of starch is widely used method for increasing its application and process stability. Due to the high demand for starch in industrial applications, researchers were driven to hunt for new sources of starch, including modification of starch through green processing. Thermal properties are significant reference parameters for evaluating the quality of starch when it comes to cooking and processing. Modification of starches affects the thermal properties, which are widely studied using Differential scanning calorimeter or Thermogravimetric analysis. It could lead to a better understanding of starch's thermal properties including factors influencing and expand its commercial applications as a thickener, extender, fat replacer, etc. in more depth. Therefore, the review presents the classification of starches, factors influencing the thermal properties, measurement methods and thermal properties of starch in its native and modified form. Further, this review concludes that extensive research on the thermal properties of new sources of starch, as well as modified starch, is required to boost thermal stability and extend industrial applications. The effect of T4 and T6 treatment on the microstructures, precipitates, thermal expansion and thermal conductivity properties of Mg-2Nd-4Zn alloys was systemically investigated. The number of NdZn2 phase increased subjected to T6 treatment. The coherent relationship between the NdZn2 phase and Mg matrix was observed in the Mg-2Nd-4Zn alloys, which plays a great influence on improving the thermal expansion, thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of Mg-2Nd-4Zn alloys. The decrease in the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and the thermal conductivity of Mg alloys were ascribed to the existence of solute atoms in alloys after the T4 treatment. It was also found that the T6-treated alloy has smaller area of the hysteresis loop, which has better thermal stability. Therefore, the high performance was mainly due to T6 treatment, the thermal conductivity of T6-treated Mg-2Nd-4Zn alloy is 124.4 K·m−1·K−1 at room temperature, and TYS of 235.5 MPa, CYS of 393.7 MPa, elongation of tension and compression are 31 and 27%, respectively. Pulverized coal (coal) possesses a layered structure similar to graphite and is a potential reinforcing filler. In this paper, ball milling is used to reduce the particle diameter of coal. The coal is modified with KH‐560 to obtain K‐COAL and prepared K‐COAL/styrene‐butadiene rubber (SBR) composites. In addition, carbon black (CB) is modified to obtain CB‐Si69, K‐COAL and CB‐Si69 are added to SBR in different ratios to prepare COAL/CB/SBR composites. The results show that the addition of K‐COAL can improve the vulcanization performance, thermal stability, and mechanical properties of SBR composites, but the reinforcing effect is weak. In the COAL/CB/SBR composites, the vulcanization and mechanical properties of the composites gradually increase with the increase of CB, while those of the thermal stability decrease. The tensile strength of the 10 phr COAL/30 phr CB/SBR composite is 24.1 MPa, which is elevated by 1105% and 205% compared with the pure SBR and 40 phr K‐COAL/SBR composites, respectively. The composites maintain high elasticity while the tensile strengths are greatly improved, and the mechanical properties are significantly enhanced. A series of seven stable amide derivatives based on indole‐3‐carboxaldehyde were synthesized with high yields using various aliphatic and aromatic acyl chlorides, triethylamine and DMAP as the catalyst at room temperature. Structural characterization was performed using FT‐IR, 1 H‐NMR, 13C‐NMR and LC–MS techniques. To develop bioactive material, acetalization of water‐soluble polyvinyl alcohol was achieved by reacting one of the N‐acyl derivatives, 1‐propionylindole‐3‐carboxaldehyde, in the presence of a p‐TSA catalyst to form polyvinyl acetal with pendant bioactive groups. The polymer was analyzed using 1 H‐NMR, FT‐IR, TGA, DSC, FE‐SEM and EDX spectroscopic techniques. The polymer was water‐insoluble with enhanced thermal stability compared to pure polyvinyl alcohol. This approach for developing N‐acyl derivatives of indole‐3‐carboxaldehyde and then reacting one of the monomers with polyvinyl alcohol to improve its thermal properties and stability in humid conditions has proven successful.
