Although video visits may offer some benefits over the telephone, not all patients may be equipped to access video telemedicine, raising questions surrounding access disparities. The aim of this study is to examine patient characteristics associated with the use of phone versus video-enabled tele-medication for opioid use disorders (MOUD) during COVID-19.This study uses data from a nonurban integrated substance use disorder treatment site in New York to examine patient characteristics associated with the modality of tele-MOUD care. The provider did not offer in-person care. Multivariable regression models were used to assess the association between patient's primary mode of tele-MOUD and patient demographic characteristics. Additional analysis of new patient inductions examined associations between mode of tele-MOUD induction and 30-day follow-up receipt.Of the 4557 tele-MOUD encounters, 76.92% were video and 23.08% were telephone visits. Older patients had significantly higher odds of primarily using telephone (odds ratio [OR]: 0.580; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.045, 1.115). Patients with higher education (OR: -0.791; 95% CI: -1.418, -0.168), recent overdose (OR: -0.40; 95% CI: -0.793, -0.010), and new patients (OR: 0.484; 95% CI: -0.945, 0.023) were significantly less likely to rely on telephone. Of 336 new patient initiations, 31 were conducted by telephone while 305 were conducted through video. The mode of new patient initiation was not associated with a follow-up visit within 30 days of initiation.Telemedicine may increase access to MOUD, though certain patients may rely on different forms of telemedicine. Attention must be paid to policies that promote equitable access to both video and telephone tele-MOUD visits.

A halophilic Gram-negative eubacterium was isolated from the Iroise Sea and identified as an efficient producer of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). The strain, designated SF2003, was found to belong to the Halomonas genus on the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity. Previous biochemical tests indicated that the Halomonas sp. strain SF2003 is capable of supporting various culture conditions which sometimes can be constraining for marine strains. This versatility could be of great interest for biotechnological applications. Therefore, a complete bacterial genome sequencing and de novo assembly were performed using a PacBio RSII sequencer and Hierarchical Genome Assembly Process software in order to predict Halomonas sp. SF2003 metabolisms, and to identify genes involved in PHA production and stress tolerance. This study demonstrates the complete genome sequence of Halomonas sp. SF2003 which contains a circular 4,36 Mbp chromosome, and replaces the strain in a phylogenetic tree. Genes related to PHA metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, fatty acid metabolism and stress tolerance were identified and a comparison was made with metabolisms of relative species. Genes annotation highlighted the presence of typical genes involved in PHA biosynthesis such as phaA, phaB and phaC and enabled a preliminary analysis of their organization and characteristics. Several genes of carbohydrates and fatty acid metabolisms were also identified which provided helpful insights into both a better knowledge of the intricacies of PHA biosynthetic pathways and of production purposes. Results show the strong versatility of Halomonas sp. SF2003 to adapt to various temperatures and salinity which can subsequently be exploited for industrial applications such as PHA production.

International audience; Yersina ruckeri is an enterobacteria responsible for Enteric redmouth disease (ERM), which causes significant economic losses in the aquaculture industry worldwide. Two biotypes have been described within Y. ruckeri: biotype 1 (BT1) and biotype 2 (BT2). Unlike BT1, BT2 is negative for motility and lipase secretion. The emergence of BT2 Y. ruckeri has been associated with disease outbreaks in vaccinated fish in several countries, notably France in the early 2000s. In this study, 15 BT2 strains (14 BT2 strains isolated in France and the BT2 reference strain EX5) were studied to compare the phenotypic characters of the BT1 and BT2 strains and to determine the genetic origin of the emergence of BT2 in France. BT1 bacteria are significantly longer in size than BT2 bacteria (a difference of 0.222 mu m). The loss of motility of some French BT2 strains could be due to the loss of their ability to produce flagella caused by three mutations within the fliG, flhC and flgA genes. In the light of these results, the emergence of BT2 Yersinia ruckeri in France is discussed.
