Bu çalışmanın amacı okul müdürlerinin yürütmekte olduğu ders denetimine ilişkin öğretmen görüşlerini ortaya koymaktır. Olgubilim deseninde kurgulanan araştırmada veri toplama süreci yüz yüze ve çevrim içi yürütülmüştür. Maksimum çeşitlilik örneklemesinden yararlanılarak 24 öğretmene ulaşılmıştır. Katılımcılara beş adet açık uçlu soru sorulmuş ve veri analizinde içerik analizi yöntemine başvurulmuştur. Katılımcı görüşleri kodlanmış ve ortak kodlar temelinde kategoriler ile alt kategoriler oluşturulmuştur. Bulguların geçerliliği araştırmacı bakış açısı, katılımcı bakış açısı ve okuyucu bakış açısı ile teyit edilmiş; güvenirlik kapsamında ise araştırmacılar arası uyumu belirlemek için Kappa güvenirlik katsayısı hesaplanmıştır. Analizler sonucunda “ders denetimi öncesi”, “ders denetimi sırası”, “ders denetimi sonrası”, “ders denetimi sırasındaki hisler” ve “ders denetimine ilişkin öneriler” olmak üzere beş kategori ortaya çıkmıştır. İlgili kategoriler altında ise “denetim öncesi bilgilendirme”, “bilgilendirme yöntemi”, “bilgilendirme türü”, “aktif katılım”, “pasif katılım”, “rehberlik amaçlı dönüt”, “kontrol amaçlı dönüt”, “dönüt verme türü”, “olumlu dönüt”, “olumsuz dönüt”, “okul müdürü açısından”, “öğretmen açısından” ve “eğitim sistemi açısından” şeklinde alt kategoriler oluşturulmuştur. Elde edilen bulgular alanyazın temelinde tartışılmış ve bulgulara dayalı birtakım öneriler getirilmiştir.

Students’ learning was temporarily interrupted due to the unexpected closure of academic institutions brought by the pandemic. As a result, pre-service Technical-Vocational Education (TVE) teachers struggled when it comes to their well-being and mental health, educational logistics, and due to restrictions. In order to cope with these identified problems, the participants resorted to positive reframing, reconnecting with interests and learning preferences, and seeking instrumental support. This study recommends that higher education institutions must recalibrate the Field Study (FS) curriculum, capacitate instructors, and update technological infrastructures to enable the effective continuity of teaching and learning in TVE even in turbulent conditions.

8. Nocturnal Hypertension in Children With Chronic Kidney Disease Is Common and Associated With Progression to Kidney Replacement Therapy

BACKGROUND: Nocturnal hypertension is a risk factor for chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression among adults. In children, effects of nocturnal hypertension on CKD progression is less studied. METHODS: We investigated the relationships between nocturnal, daytime, or sustained hypertension and progression to kidney replacement therapy in children using Cox proportional hazards models. Nocturnal and diurnal hypertension respectively defined as: mean blood pressure >95th percentile and/or load >25% for either systolic or diastolic blood pressure within sleep or wake periods. RESULTS: One thousand five hundred seventy-seven ambulatory blood pressure monitoring studies from 701 CKiD participants were reviewed. Nighttime, daytime, and both types of hypertension were 19%, 7%, and 33%, respectively. Participants with both daytime and nocturnal hypertension had the highest risk of kidney replacement therapy. Among children with CKD, compared with those who were normotensive, those with isolated nocturnal hypertension had a hazard ratio of 1.49 ([CI, 0.97–2.28]; P =0.068) while those with both daytime and nocturnal hypertension had a HR of 2.23 ([CI, 1.60–3.11]; P CONCLUSIONS: The presence of both daytime and nocturnal hypertension is significantly associated with risk of kidney replacement therapy. Our study confirms the utility of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in children with CKD. Identifying and controlling both daytime and nocturnal hypertension using ambulatory blood pressure monitoring may improve outcomes and delay CKD progression in this population.

Individuals at distinct stages of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) show abnormal electroencephalographic activity, which has been linked to network hyperexcitability and cognitive decline. However, whether pro-excitatory changes at the synaptic level are observed in brain areas affected early in AD, and if they are emergent in MCI, is not clearly known. Equally important, it is not known whether global synaptic E/I imbalances correlate with the severity of cognitive impairment in the continuum of AD. Measuring the amplitude of ion currents of human excitatory and inhibitory synaptic receptors microtransplanted from the hippocampus and temporal cortex of cognitively normal, mildly cognitively impaired and AD individuals into surrogate cells, we found regional differences in pro-excitatory shifts of the excitatory to inhibitory (E/I) current ratio that correlates positively with toxic proteins and degree of pathology, and impinges negatively on cognitive performance scores. Using these data with electrophysiologically anchored analysis of the synapto-proteome in the same individuals, we identified a group of proteins sustaining synaptic function and those related to synaptic toxicity. We also found an uncoupling between the function and expression of proteins for GABAergic signaling in the temporal cortex underlying larger E/I and worse cognitive performance. Further analysis of transcriptomic and in situ hybridization datasets from an independent cohort across the continuum of AD confirm regional differences in pro-excitatory shifts of the E/I balance that correlate negatively with the most recent calibrated composite scores for memory, executive function, language and visuospatial abilities, as well as overall cognitive performance. These findings indicate that early shifts of E/I balance may contribute to loss of cognitive capabilities in the continuum of AD clinical syndrome.

11. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in asymptomatic young adults: association with HOMA, metabolic syndrome, and atherogenic risk

Objective: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) represents the most common liver disease worldwide. The Latin American population has the highest obesity rates in the world. The aim was to research the factors associated with NAFLD in young adults. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed on 171 participants with an average age of 21 years who underwent a physical and laboratory examination, anthropometric evaluation, and abdominal ultrasound. Results: Subjects with NAFLD were significantly overweight, with dyslipidemia, and with atherogenic risk. They had the presence of metabolic syndrome compared to those without NAFLD. Bivariate logistic regression showed that body mass index, atherogenic risk, Homeostatic Model Assessment (HOMA) value, and metabolic syndrome were associated with NAFLD development. Conclusions: The variables of HOMA, metabolic syndrome, and atherogenic risk were most associated as risk predictors of this pathology in young adults.

Bu araştırmanın amacı öğretmenlerin mesleki dayanıklılık düzeylerini belirleyerek bazı demografik değişkenler bağlamında karşılaştırmaktır. İlgili amaç doğrultusunda öncelikle “Çalışan Dayanıklılığı Ölçeği” eğitim örgütleri bağlamında Türkiye kültürüne uyarlanmış ve “Öğretmen Mesleki Dayanıklılık Ölçeği” olarak adlandırılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular ölçeğin öğretmen örnekleminde (n=165) geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğunu göstermiştir. Araştırmanın ikinci aşamasında ölçek uygun örnekleme yöntemi ile ulaşılan 202 öğretmene çevrimiçi olarak uygulanmıştır. Veri 10-21 Şubat 2021 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır. Betimsel analizler kapsamında minimum, maksimum, aritmetik ortalama ve standart sapma değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Cinsiyet, öğrenim düzeyi, kıdem ve okul düzeyi gibi demografik değişkenler bağlamında karşılaştırma yapmak için t-testi ve Kruskall Wallis-H testinden yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular öğretmenlerin dayanıklılık düzeylerinin “Sık sık” olduğunu göstermiştir. Cinsiyet ve öğrenim düzeyi öğretmenlerin mesleki dayanıklılık düzeylerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark yaratmazken; kıdem ve okul düzeyi açısından gruplar arasında anlamlı bir fark olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Buna göre 0-5 yıl kıdeme sahip öğretmenler kıdemi 6 yıldan 20 yıla kadar olan meslektaşlarından; okul öncesi ve ortaokulda görevli öğretmenler lisede görevli meslektaşlarından daha yüksek düzeyde bir mesleki dayanıklılığa sahiptir. Elde edilen bulgular alanyazın temelinde tartışılmış ve birtakım öneriler getirilmiştir., This study investigated the professional resilience levels of teachers and compared it by some demographics. To this end, in the first stage of the study, “Employee Resilience Scale” was adapted to Turkish culture in the context of educational organizations and named as “Teachers’ Professional Resiliency Scale”. The findings indicated that the scale had adequate psychometric properties for Turkish teacher sample (n=165). In the second stage of the study, the scale was administered to 202 teachers online. The study employed convenient sampling method. The data were collected between the 10th and 21st of February 2021. To reveal teachers’ resilience level minimum, maximum, arithmetic mean, and standard deviations were calculated. To conduct comparisons by demographics (gender, educational level, experience, and grade level) t-test and Kruskall Wallis-H tests were used. The findings showed that the resilience levels of the teachers were "Often". While gender and educational level did not create a statistically significant difference, experience and school level did. Teachers with an experience of 0-5 years had a higher level of resilience than their colleagues with an experience between 6-20 years. On the other hand, pre-school and secondary school teachers had a higher level of resilience than high school teachers. The findings were discussed based on the previous literature and some suggestions were presented.

Shrimp farming is economically admired and environmentally accused in Bangladesh. Environmental impacts of shrimp farm are related among others to management of waste water and pond sludge. Pond sludge has the potential to be recycled and also can be used as organic manure considering the presence of high level of nutrients and organic matter. The performance of sludge as organic manure was studied on Mahogany seedlings, which was grown on incremental sludge (10%, 20%, 30% --------- 90%) mixture with soil and the performance was compared with other soil mixtures (soil with chemical fertilizer; soil with cow dung and soil with both chemical fertilizer and cow dung mixture) in the nursery. The height, diameter, biomass (leaf, root and shoot) and nutrient concentrations (N, P and K) in leaf of seedlings were measured after 4 month of germination. It was observed that the height and diameter growth, nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations in leaf of seedlings were similar in soil mixture with 90% sludge and soil with both chemical fertilizer and cow dung mixture. The biomass (leaf, root and shoot) production was higher in soil mixture with 90% sludge than soil with both chemical fertilizer and cow dung mixture.

16. Profitability analysis of paddy production in different seasons in Bangladesh: Insights from the Haor

This study aimed to investigate the cost-benefit per hectare of rice production in the haor region in Bangladesh. For doing so, the multi-stage sampling technique was used to collect cross-sectional data during 2018 from four haor districts producing rice in Bangladesh. To achieve the purpose, a total of 368 randomly selected farming households from Habiganj, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, and Sylhet districts were surveyed using a structured questionnaire. Data analysis was done utilizing descriptive statistics and cost and return analysis. The result revealed that labor costs constituted the largest proportion of gross operating expenses, followed by fertilizer, irrigation, tillage, insecticides and herbicides, and threshing cost. The cost-benefit analysis finding also shows that rice is a profitable enterprise in the haor areas as the lower production cost compared to return. Because of the amount of input used and the price of output, the profitability differs between different seasons, however. The model shows that cost of seed, human labor cost, cost of TSP, cost of MoP, and cost of irrigation were the key factors that influenced rice production. This study also identified some of the problems related to rice production in haor areas. Lower output price, higher input price, unavailability of short growth duration high yielding varieties, and embankment damages, etc., are key obstacles to rice production. Therefore, this study provides the government's concerned authority with appropriate suggestions and policy recommendations to solve the farmers' issues that could boost rice productivity in the haor areas and contribute to food security and self-sufficiency in rice cultivation.

20. EFFICACY OF HERBICIDES AND SHADING METHODS TO CONTROL INVASIVE SPHAGNETICOLA TRILOBATA (L.) PRUSKI

Sphagneticola trilobata (L.) Pruski is one of the most noxious invasive plant species, posing a serious threat to native biodiversity. This species has been invading large areas of Bangladesh for the last two decades. The study investigated the efficacy of herbicides and shading treatments during winter and monsoon to find an effective control method for S. trilobata. Both surface-inhabiting (Glyphosate) and root-inhabiting (Paraquat) herbicides were applied for six months in five different combinations (100% Glyphosate, 75% Glyphosate + 25% Paraquat, 50% Glyphosate + 50% Paraquat, 25% Glyphosate + 75% Paraquat, and 100% Paraquat) and the percentage coverage was measured for each experimental plot. Results from the study showed that all shading and chemical combinations of Glyphosate and Paraquat significantly reduced the percentage coverage of S. trilobata in each experimental plot (p < 0.05). However, the shading and Paraquat-dominated combinations reduced the coverage slowly compared to the Glyphosate-dominated ones. Among five different combinations, Paraquat-dominated herbicides were less effective in controlling the species. On the other hand, the Glyphosate-dominated combinations completely eradicated the species within a week but increased thereafter. Meanwhile, the seasonal variation was found to be highly significant (p < 0.0001) among treatments, and a significant reduction was observed in winter compared to the monsoon. The results of this study highlighted that the Glyphosate-dominated combinations were the fastest, while the Paraquat-dominated combinations and shading were slower control methods.

21. Performance of seed-seedling continuum of two agroforestry tree species under inter-specific competition

The inter-specific competition among species in a mixed-species plantation is inevitable and the degree of competition for available resources determines the success of species’ co-existence. Different species compete and interact for resources at altered physiological and developmental stages. However, most research investigated inter-specific competition at the mature stage. We examined seed germination and seedling growth of two con-familial species, i.e., Albizia saman and Albizia lebbeck and explored inter-specific competition at their early life stages grown in a different proportional mixture through a replacement series experiment. We found that the germination speed and percentage, the probability of seedling emergence and seedling height were significantly higher in A. saman than in A. lebbeck. Moreover, we observed that A. saman showed higher germination performance in mixtures compared to A. lebbeck, although the germination properties of the species did not significantly vary among treatments. Similarly, the seedling height growth did not vary significantly among treatments, when the seedlings of the studied species were mixed in different proportions. However, both species showed mutualistic relationships, which was significantly modulated by A. saman. Our study suggests that the knowledge of variation in early growth performance of these species and their inter-specific competition influence the recruitment success and will determine the population dynamics of a mixed-species plantation. Furthermore, studies examining the competitive relationship between different species would be invaluable for choosing suitable species and applying proper management approaches for the success of any mixed- species plantation at any afforestation and reforestation activities.

Malnutrition is associated with adverse clinical outcomes in patients with cirrhosis. Accurate assessment of energy requirements is needed to optimize dietary intake. Resting energy expenditure (REE), the major component of total energy expenditure, can be measured using indirect calorimetry (mREE) or estimated using prediction equations (pREE). This study assessed the usefulness of predicted estimates of REE in this patient population.Individual mREE data were available for 900 patients with cirrhosis (mean [±1 SD] age 55.7±11.6 years-old; 70% men; 52% south-east Asian) and 282 healthy controls (mean age 36.0±12.8 years-old; 52% men; 18% south-east Asian). Metabolic status was classified using thresholds based on the mean ± 1 SD of the mREE in the healthy controls. Comparisons were made between mREE and pREE estimates obtained using the Harris-Benedict, Mifflin, Schofield and Henry equations. Stepwise regression was used to build 3 new prediction models which included sex, ethnicity, body composition measures, and model for end-stage liver disease scores.The mean mREE was significantly higher in patients than controls when referenced to dry body weight (22.4±3.8 cf. 20.8±2.6 kcal/kg/24 hr; p0.001); there were no significant sex differences. The mean mREE was significantly higher in Caucasian than Asian patients (23.1±4.4 cf. 21.7±2.9 kcal/kg/24 hr; p0.001). Overall, 37.1% of Caucasian and 25.3% of Asian patients were classified as hypermetabolic. The differences between mREE and pREE were both statistically and clinically relevant; in the total patient population, pREE estimates ranged from 501 kcal/24 hr less to 548 kcal/24 hr more than the mREE. Newly derived prediction equations provided better estimates of mREE but still had limited clinical utility.Prediction equations do not provide useful estimates of REE in patients with cirrhosis. REE should be directly measured.People with cirrhosis are often malnourished and this has a detrimental effect on outcome. Provision of an adequate diet is very important and is best achieved by measuring daily energy requirements and adjusting dietary intake accordingly. Prediction equations, which use information on age, sex, weight, and height can be used to estimate energy requirements; however, the results they provide are not accurate enough for clinical use, particularly as they vary according to sex and ethnicity.

Patients with advanced cirrhosis often have immune dysfunction and are more susceptible to infections. Galectin-3 is a β-galactoside-binding lectin implicated in inflammation, immune regulation and liver fibrosis. We aim to investigate galectin-3 expression in advanced cirrhosis and its ability to predict post-transplant infectious complications.We collected sera and liver samples from 129 cirrhotic patients at the time of liver transplantation and from an external cohort of 37 patients with alcoholic liver disease including alcoholic hepatitis (AH) at the time of diagnosis. Galectin-3 was assessed by ELISA, real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry and RNA-seq. Receiver operating characteristic curves and Cox proportional-hazards regression analysis were performed to assess the predictive power of galectin-3 for disease severity and post-transplant infections.Increased galectin-3 levels were found in advanced cirrhosis. Galectin-3 significantly correlated with disease severity parameters and inflammatory markers. Galectin-3 had significant discriminating power for compensated and advanced cirrhosis (AUC = 0.78/0.84, circulating/liver galectin-3; p .01), and was even higher to discriminate severe AH (AUC = 0.95, p .0001). Cox Proportional-hazard model showed that galectin-3, MELD-Na and the presence of SIRS predict the development of post-transplant infectious complications. Patients with circulating galectin-3 (16.58 ng/ml) were at 2.19-fold 95% CI (1.12-4.29) increased risk, but when combined with MELD-Na 20.0 and SIRS, the risk to develop post-transplant infectious complications, increased to 4.60, 95% CI (2.38-8.90).Galectin-3 is a novel biological marker of active inflammation and disease severity that could be clinically useful alone or in combination with other scores to discriminate advanced cirrhosis and predict post-transplant infectious complications.

Maintenance and Rehabilitation (M&R) of airport pavement assets involves considerable financial resources. As such, even modest improvement in M&R activity planning could lead to non-trivial savings. The state-of-the-practice for planning M&R activities mostly relies on condition thresholds and engineering rules, while the state-of-the-art often requires untested assumptions and relies critically on complete knowledge about pavement deterioration. This study proposes a machine learning (ML)-based approach that integrates pavement condition prediction using supervised ML with M&R activity planning empowered by reinforcement learning (RL), for which the Q-learning method is adopted. Supervised ML involves minimum a priori assumptions while characterizing the relationship between pavement deterioration and its influencing factors, and can yield higher-accuracy prediction of future pavement conditions than traditional methods. Similarly, RL learns the optimal action-value functions in a model-free environment. The integrated ML approach is implemented and demonstrated using real-world data from Chicago O’Hare International Airport. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach which can lead to reduced M&R cost compared to practice.

La cobertura gráfica de la migración es una constante en la prensa española de los últimos años dada la actualidad noticiosa vinculada con estos movimientos humanos. Esta investigación explora la capacidad de la imagen fotográfica para el retrato de las personas migrantes y cómo se produce este tratamiento gráfico. Para ello se centra en el estudio de caso de la fotografía tomada en 19 de mayo de 2021 por Bernat Armangue en la playa de El Tarajal (Ceuta) que muestra el abrazo entre la cooperante de Cruz Roja España, Luna Reyes, y el senegalés, Abdou. Este documento fotográfico impactó en la opinión pública nacional e internacional y tuvo gran difusión en redes sociales. Usando un protocolo de análisis que describe y analiza la imagen en cinco niveles (contextual, compositivo, morfológico, enunciativo y global), la presente investigación nos aproxima a la capacidad del fotoperiodismo para aglutinar en representaciones muy concretas conflictos muy complejos movilizando así a la opinión pública. La polémica asociada a la difusión de esta imagen nos permitirá también explorar cuestiones vinculadas con la ética y la deontología de la profesión fotoperiodística sobre todo cuando se desarrolla en entornos digitales

Exercise performance and zinc administration individually yield a protective effect on various neurodegenerative models, including ischemic brain injury. Therefore, this work was aimed at evaluating the combined effect of subacute prophylactic zinc administration and swimming exercise in a transient cerebral ischemia model. The prophylactic zinc administration (2.5 mg/kg of body weight) was provided every 24 h for four days before a 30 min common carotid artery occlusion (CCAO), and 24 h after reperfusion, the rats were subjected to swimming exercise in the Morris Water Maze (MWM). Learning was evaluated daily for five days, and memory on day 12 postreperfusion; anxiety or depression-like behavior was measured by the elevated plus maze and the motor activity by open-field test. Nitrites, lipid peroxidation, and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) were assessed in the temporoparietal cortex and hippocampus. The three nitric oxide (NO) synthase isoforms, chemokines, and their receptor levels were measured by ELISA. Nissl staining evaluated hippocampus cytoarchitecture and Iba-1 immunohistochemistry activated the microglia. Swimming exercise alone could not prevent ischemic damage but, combined with prophylactic zinc administration, reversed the cognitive deficit, decreased NOS and chemokine levels, prevented tissue damage, and increased Iba-1 (+) cell number. These results suggest that the subacute prophylactic zinc administration combined with swimming exercise, but not the individual treatment, prevents the ischemic damage on day 12 postreperfusion in the transient ischemia model.

Gene-editing techniques allow various alterations to the DNA sequence by either addition, deletion, or inversion. The two primary components of this technique are the Cas9 endonuclease, which cuts the DNA strands at the specific target position of the genome, and the guide RNA molecule (gRNA), which guides the Cas9 endonuclease to that target portion. This technology is based on the adaptive immune system in prokaryotes, which prevents the entry of viruses by integrating short virus sequences in the cell’s CRISPR locus and allowing it to remember, recognize, and clear infections. The use of CRISPR technology in cancer biology is evolving quickly and holds great promise for the development of cancer models, blocking drug resistance, screening functional genes, gene editing, and CAR T cell therapy

NKG2D (natural-killer group 2, member D) is a homodimeric transmembrane receptor that plays an important role in NK, γδ + , and CD8 + T cell-mediated immune responses to environmental stressors such as viral or bacterial infections and oxidative stress. However, aberrant NKG2D signaling has also been associated with chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, and as such NKG2D is thought to be an attractive target for immune intervention. Here, we describe a comprehensive small-molecule hit identification strategy and two distinct series of protein–protein interaction inhibitors of NKG2D. Although the hits are chemically distinct, they share a unique allosteric mechanism of disrupting ligand binding by accessing a cryptic pocket and causing the two monomers of the NKG2D dimer to open apart and twist relative to one another. Leveraging a suite of biochemical and cell-based assays coupled with structure-based drug design, we established tractable structure–activity relationships with one of the chemical series and successfully improved both the potency and physicochemical properties. Together, we demonstrate that it is possible, albeit challenging, to disrupt the interaction between NKG2D and multiple protein ligands with a single molecule through allosteric modulation of the NKG2D receptor dimer/ligand interface.

Purpose: Although the mutational status in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) can predict the response to treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors, the role of tumor genotype as a prognostic factor remains controversial. The ConticaGIST study sought to determine the pathologic and molecular factors associated with disease-free survival (DFS) in patients with operable, imatinib-naive GIST.Experimental Design: Clinicopathologic and molecular data from 1,056 patients with localized GIST who underwent surgery with curative intention (R0/R1) and were registered in the European ConticaGIST database were prospectively obtained and reviewed. Risk of tumor recurrence was stratified using the modified NIH criteria. The median follow-up was 52 months.Results: On testing for potential prognostic parameters, the following were associated with inferior DFS on multivariable Cox model analysis: primary nongastric site, size >10 cm, mitotic index >10 mitoses per 50 high power field, and the KIT exon 9 duplication [hazard ratio (HR), 1.47; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.9–2.5; P = 0.037] and KIT exon 11 deletions involving codons 557 and/or 558 [KITdel-inc557/558; HR, 1.45; 95% CI, 1.0–2.2; P = 0.004]. Conversely, PDGFRA exon 18 mutations were indicators of better prognosis [HR, 0.23; 95% CI, 0.1–0.6; P = 0.002]. KITdel-inc557/558 were an adverse indicator only in GIST localized in the stomach (P < 0.001) but not in tumors with nongastric origin. In gastric GIST, all other mutations presented remarkably superior 5-year DFS.Conclusions: In conclusion, tumor genotype is an independent molecular prognostic variable associated with gastric GIST and should be used for optimizing tailored adjuvant imatinib treatment. The current study investigates the association between teacher demoralization and perceived school effectiveness. The sample consists of 267 teachers working in the province of Batman during the 2021-2022 academic year. They were reached through convenient sampling. Two data collection tools were used in the study. To measure teachers’ demoralization level, the “Teacher Demoralization in Educational Policy Context Scale” and the school effectiveness level “Perceived School Effectiveness Scale” were adopted. The demoralization scale was a self-reported one, and school effectiveness was measured based on teacher perceptions. Since the data were normally distributed, parametric tests were employed. Within the descriptive statistics, means and standard deviations were calculated, and Pearson correlation coefficients, simple and multiple regression analysis were conducted to reveal the associations between variables. The findings revealed that teachers were moderately demoralized, and they perceived their schools as moderately effective. There was a significant moderate level of negative association between teacher demoralization and perceived school effectiveness. Teacher demoralization was a significant predictor of school effectiveness. The findings were discussed based on the previous literature. The researchers made some suggestions based on the findings and for further research.

Recent postmortem transcriptomic studies of schizophrenia (SCZ) have shown hundreds of differentially expressed genes. However, the extent to which these gene expression changes reflect antipsychotic drug (APD) exposure remains uncertain. We compared differential gene expression in the prefrontal cortex of SCZ patients who tested positive for APDs at the time of death with SCZ patients who did not. APD exposure was associated with numerous changes in the brain transcriptome, especially among SCZ patients on atypical APDs. Brain transcriptome data from macaques chronically treated with APDs showed that APDs affect the expression of many functionally relevant genes, some of which show expression changes in the same directions as those observed in SCZ. Co-expression modules enriched for synaptic function showed convergent patterns between SCZ and some of the APD effects, while those associated with inflammation and glucose metabolism exhibited predominantly divergent patterns between SCZ and APD effects. In contrast, major cell-type shifts inferred in SCZ were primarily unaffected by APD use. These results show that APDs may confound SCZ-associated gene expression changes in postmortem brain tissue. Disentangling these effects will help identify causal genes and improve our neurobiological understanding of SCZ.

Mevcut araştırmanın amacı Türkiye’de yürütülen öğretimsel liderlik konulu lisansüstü tezlerdeki eğilimi ortaya koymaktır. Bu bağlamda, YÖK Ulusal Tez Merkezi’ndeki açık erişimli lisansüstü tezler araştırmanın evrenini oluşturmaktadır. “Öğretimsel lider” ve “öğretimsel liderlik” anahtar kelimeleri ile yapılan tarama sonucunda toplam 99 teze ulaşılmış; bununla birlikte araştırma ölçütlerini karşılayan 62 tez analize dahil edilmiştir. Alanyazında mevcut benzer çalışmalardan yararlanılarak bir tez inceleme formu oluşturulmuş ve kategorik çözümleme yöntemi ile veri analizi yürütülmüştür. Tezler türü (yüksek lisans veya doktora), yürütüldüğü yıl, yöntem, örneklem, örneklemin görev yaptığı okul düzeyi, kullanılan ölçme aracı, yürütüldüğü üniversite ve öğretimsel liderliğin ilişkilendirildiği değişken(ler) bağlamında incelenmiştir. Her bir kategoriye yönelik frekans ve yüzdelik değerler hesaplanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular şu şekilde özetlenebilir. Öğretimsel liderlik konulu lisansüstü tezler çoğunlukla yüksek lisans düzeyinde ve nicel desendedir. Lisansüstü tezlerin yaklaşık üçte ikisinde veri öğretmenlerden toplanmıştır ve dörtte birinde örneklem grubu ilköğretim okullarında görev yapmaktadır. Son 10 yılda öğretimsel liderlik konulu tezlerde nicel bir artış gözlenmiştir. İncelenen tezlerin yaklaşık dörtte üçünde Şişman (1997) tarafından geliştirilen ölçme aracı kullanılmış ve öğretimsel liderlik en sık öğretmenlerin örgütsel bağlılığı ile ilişkilendirilmiştir. Son olarak, öğretimsel liderlik ile ilgili en fazla tezin Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi’nde tamamlandığı belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulardan yola çıkarak bazı öneriler getirilmiştir., This study aims to reveal the trend in postgraduate theses on instructional leadership in Turkey. To this end, open access postgraduate theses in YÖK National Thesis Center constitute the universe of the research. The search with the keywords "instructional leader" and "instructional leadership" yielded 99 theses. However, analysis was carried out on 62 theses that satisfied the criteria set in the study. A thesis review form was created based on similar studies in the literature and data analysis was carried out using the categorical analysis method. The type of theses (master's or doctorate), the year they were conducted, the method, the sample, the school level of the sample, the measurement tool used, the university they were conducted in, and the variable(s) associated with the instructional leadership were investigated. Frequency and percentage values for each category were calculated. The findings can be summarized as follows: postgraduate theses on instructional leadership are mostly at the master’s level and in quantitative design. In approximately two-thirds of the postgraduate theses, data were collected from teachers, and one-quarter of the sample group worked in primary schools. In the last 10 years, there has been a quantitative increase in theses on instructional leadership. The measurement tool developed by Şişman (1997) was used by about three-quarters of the theses, and instructional leadership was most frequently associated with teachers' organizational commitment. Finally, it was determined that most theses on instructional leadership were completed at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. Based on the findings, some suggestions were made.

This paper presents a novel methodology to identify the dynamic parameters of a real robot with a convolutional neural network (CNN). Conventional identification methodologies use continuous motion signals. However, these signals are quantized in their amplitude and are discrete in time. Therefore, the time required to identify the parameters of a robot with a limited measurement system is related to an optimized motion trajectory performed by the robot. The proposed methodology consists of an algorithm that uses a trained CNN with the data created by the dynamical model of the case study robot. A processing technique is proposed to transform the position, velocity, acceleration, and torque robot signals into an image whose characteristics are extracted by the CNN to determine their dynamic parameters. The proposed algorithm does not require any optimal trajectory to find the dynamic parameters. A proposed time-spectral evaluation metric is used to validate the robot data and the identification data. The validation results show that the proposed methodology identifies the parameters of a Cartesian robot in less than 1 second, exceeding 90% of the proposed evaluation metric and 98% for the simulation results.

International audience; Progress in the digitization of cultural assets leads to online databases that become too large for a human to analyze. Moreover, some analyses might be challenging, even for experts. In this paper, we explore two applications of computer vision to analyze historical data: watermark recognition and one-shot repeated pattern detection in artwork collections. Both problems present computer vision challenges which we believe to be representative of the ones encountered in cultural heritage applications: limited supervision is available, the tasks are fine-grained recognition, and the data comes in several different modalities. Both applications are also highly practical, as recognizing watermarks makes it possible to date and locate documents, while detecting repeated patterns allows exploring visual links between artworks. We demonstrate on both tasks the benefits of relying on deep mid-level features. More precisely, we define an image similarity score based on geometric verification of mid-level features and show how spatial consistency can be used to fine-tune out-of-the-box features for the target dataset with weak or no supervision. 47. An integrated computational approach to screening of alkaloids inhibitors of TBX3 in breast cancer cell lines

TBX3 is an ancient and evolutionarily conserved family member of T-box transcription factors that acts as a key regulator in embryonic development and organogenesis. It is often overexpressed in various epithelial and mesenchymal malignancies which has a significant impact on various hallmarks of cancer, which mainly includes senescence shunt, apoptosis, anoikis, angiogenesis, and promoting metastatic and expansion of cancer stem cells. In addition to the role of TBX3 in early breast development, a number of studies have also confirmed the amplification of TBX3 in the occurrence and development of breast cancer. To overcome a major challenge in breast cancer treatment, resistance to current anti-cancer drug, it is important to develop new drug pipeline. In this study of different alkaloid molecules, to identify potential alkaloid inhibitors of TBX3, a structure based virtual screening was done involving molecular docking, ADME, toxicity analysis, molecular dynamics simulation. From our study 5 ligands named Jervine, Diflomotecan, Camptothecin, Vincamine, and Anoniane were primarily confirmed as potential inhibitors. The followed screening manner funnels out five potential compounds that have a high scoring function that emphasizes their high binding ability along with no toxicity effects. The molecular mechanics-generalized born surface area (MM-GBSA) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation showed that Jervine along with Diflomotecan formed the stable complexes with TBX3 which makes it obvious that these two alkaloids can be introduced into the drug development pipeline and used as a new leader to develop new effective drugs against breast cancer.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. 48. Depressive symptom severity is a major risk factor for frailty in community-dwelling older adults with depression. A prospective study

Background Depression and frailty are closely related, but the mechanisms by which depressed older adults are at an increased risk of becoming frail are still not well understood. Aim To assess socioeconomic and depression-related risk factors for frailty in older adults with depression. Methods Observational and prospective cohort study, with 12-month follow-up, of nonfrail community-dwelling subjects aged ≥70 years old with depression. The main study factors were clinical characteristics of depression, including symptom severity (Hamilton Depression Rating Scale), accompanying anxiety and cognitive symptoms, pharmacological treatment, and social factors including educational level, income, housing conditions and living circumstances, and social network. Frailty status was established according to Fried criteria. Results We recruited and analysed 216 subjects (mean age 76.5 years; 74% women), 65 (30%) of whom were lost to follow-up. Annual incidence of frailty was 23.2 new cases/100 persons. Age, female gender, osteoarthritis, pain, number of medications, major depression, first-degree family history of depression, depressive symptom severity, low educational level, and low-income level were risk factors for frailty. The multivariate analysis showed that age (odds ratio [OR] = 1.16; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.04–1.29), visual analogue scale (VAS)-pain (OR = 1.25; 95% CI: 1.01–1.55), and severe or very severe depressive symptoms (OR = 37.36; 95% CI: 2.68–518.53) were significantly associated with incident frailty at 12 months of follow-up. Conclusions Both clinical and social characteristics are risk factors for frailty, but severity of depressive symptoms had the highest independent effect on frailty in depressed aged subjects. Frailty requires a multidisciplinary approach that pays special attention to pain and depressed mood.

ObjectiveThis study aimed to evaluate primary Sjögren's syndrome patients in terms of hearing and vestibular functions.MethodsThe patient group consisted of 35 individuals diagnosed with primary Sjögren's syndrome and a control group of 35 healthy individuals similar in terms of age and gender.ResultsThe rate of hearing loss in the patient group was significantly higher than in the control group (p = 0.021). The N1 latency value for the ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials test was significantly longer in the patient group than in the control group (p = 0.037). Additionally, the posterior semicircular canal and lateral semicircular canal vestibulo-ocular reflex gain values were significantly lower than in the control group (p = 0.022 and p < 0.001, respectively).ConclusionThese results indicate subclinical vestibular involvement and hearing loss in primary Sjögren's syndrome patients. Vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials and video head impulse tests can be used to detect vestibular involvement in primary Sjögren's syndrome patients.
