EnglishUsing the hypothetical deductive method, we used the Barcelona Traction, Elettronica Sicula and Diallo cases to clarify the debate on the problem of diplomatic protection for corporations and their shareholders. Corporations must be seen as a being with a distinct moral personality. If the corporations and the shareholder suffered a loss, this does not imply that the two have the right to demand redress. The issue of diplomatic protection for corporations and their shareholders has been a constant theme in international jurisprudence, in the practice of States, in international conventions, in doctrine and in the course of the work of the International Law Commission on diplomatic protection. The relevance and pertinence of the topic is also recognized in the fact that diplomatic protection applies to all other legal entities constituted by the State. We share the perspective that diplomatic protection for corporations and shareholders should not be considered obsolete. A questao da proteccao diplomatica das empresas e dos seus accionistas tem sido um tema constante na jurisprudencia internacional, na pratica dos Estados, nas convencoes internacionais, na doutrina e no decurso dos trabalhos da Comissao de Direito Internacional sobre proteccao diplomatica. A relevância e pertinencia do tema e tambem reconhecida no facto de a proteccao diplomatica se aplicar a todas as outras entidades juridicas constituidas pelo Estado. Partilhamos a perspectiva de que a proteccao diplomatica para empresas e accionistas nao deve ser considerada obsoleta. Isto deve ser visto como o ultima ratio sob o qual os Estados podem invocar a responsabilidade internacional de outro Estado pelos danos causados a uma Corporacao ou accionistas que tenham a sua nacionalidade.

To complement existing literature and better capture the diversity of factors influencing grief, a more interpersonal understanding is required. Thus, we used the relational landscape's concept and empirical investigation to clarify the roles of individuals surrounding the bereaved. Sixteen interviews with bereaved individuals by euthanasia or natural death were analyzed using Interpretive Description. We present a model describing five types of actors in the environment of the bereaved and their ways of "being with" or giving space. We also include four lived landscapes in our model, with the purpose of describing how bereavement can be experienced within the social environment.

Pedagogy can be understood as methods and practices of teaching, and/or a way of being with children. In this paper, I use critical exposition and narrative to reflect on Max van Manen’s (2012) theory of pedagogy as a relationship between adults and children. My writing is organized into alternating sections of exposition (theory) and narrative (practice) to illustrate the interplay between thinking and doing that typifies pedagogical relationships, and to demonstrate how pedagogy unfolds in the unpredictable, unexpected, unprecedented, and unique actions each of us perform in the relational events of our being with children.

Introduction: Caring behavior is very important for nurses to have because it illustrates the quality of nursing care, especially for nurses who work in inpatient units. There are three factors that can influence the level of caring behavior, namely individual, psychological and organizational factors. Meanwhile, caring behavior is assessed from Knowing, Being With, Doing For, Enabling, and Maintaining Belief. Objective: To describe the factors that influence the caring behavior of nurses in Baladhika Husada Jember Hospital. Methods: Nonexperimental design with descriptive type, in which the approach was cross sectional, carried out for 1 month and involved 62 respondents. Results: 47 respondents stated that the three factors above had an influence on caring behavior and 15 respondents stated that it had no effect, while the caring behavior of respondents in the good category was 58 people and 4 people were not good. Analysis of data using the One-Sample Binominal test at alpha (α) = 0.05, has the p-value = 0.000, which illustrates the difference between the factors that influence caring behavior towards nurses caring behavior. Conclusion: The factors that influence caring behavior are directly proportional to caring behavior, meaning the better factors that influence caring behavior, the better nurses caring behavior level. Maintaining and improving caring behavior requires good effort and cooperation between the hospital manager which is the place for health services and nurses as nursing care providers.

He discusses aspects of being a researcher and entrepreneur as well as now being with a multinational company. Varying reports across different laboratories or across different analysers in the same lab for the same sample is not an uncommon phenomena. Experts call this a lack of harmonization. A test that is harmonized provides the same results regardless of the manufacturer of reagents used or the laboratory where the test is performed. When laboratory tests are not harmonized, the entire continuum of patient care can be affected in a number of ways. Here, we present a case of varying reports for a single serum human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) sample on two different immunoassay platforms for a young female presenting with an abdominopelvic mass. The lab reports for serum hCG for this particular patient showed inconsistent results with the same sample within the same lab. The phenomena behind this was lack of harmonization of test results. We introspect many of the factors responsible for lack of uniformity in hCG results amongst the major ones being with use of antibodies directed against different epitopes of hCG (analyte) and the heterogeneity of the hCG molecule itself. Harmonization is a process to ensure that different clinical testing procedures used by different laboratories give equivalent results. Harmonizing test results will enable healthcare providers to use clinical guidelines with greater confidence for diagnosing disease and managing patients.

This article repurposes the conceptual ingredients of participatory art, from 1960s Environment-Happenings to 1990s and contemporary relational aesthetics, to postulate an analogous poetics. While both epochs of interactive art exercise the same premise—that is, taking “the sphere of human relations as site for the artwork” to “induce models of sociability,” as Nicolas Bourriaud claims—the conditions of relationality entailed in each concern distinct modes of production, consumption, and governance. I trace this distinction in relation to the Foucauldian notion of “technologies of power,” arguing that, while Allan Kaprow's practice engages with the biopolitical, “disciplinary” power of liberalist regimes, the work of Félix González-Torres and Rirkrit Tiravanija engage with what Byung-Chul Han terms that “psychopolitics” of neoliberal debt relations. This examination serves as the ground from which I devise a new kind of relation poetics, a heteroglot and immersive literary bricolage that critically reflects neoliberal modes of atomised individualism. Palliative care professionals often speak of the importance of forming meaningful relationships with patients and their families. Trust and rapport, usually established over extended periods of time through face-to-face interactions, and a ‘gentle honesty’ regarding end-of-life and death are key aspects of developing a sense of intimacy with people who are approaching the end of their lives. A fundamental feature of this intimacy is conveying a sense of ‘being with’ a patient. However, these ways of working were greatly challenged by the impact of COVID-19. This article explores how intimacy both was and was not established at the height of the pandemic, and it describes the extent to which shared concerns functioned as a new means to create a sense of a common experience.

Nowadays, several studies demonstrate that viewing nature has positive effects on human health and well-being. This essay discusses about the essential methods of viewing natural environment and their impacts on human well-being by clarifying four important theoretical models: reducing stress, lowering heart rate, improving outcome of surgery, and increasing attention. In addition, some important research results in this field are taken as examples to introduce research methods. By collecting and organizing existing studies and theories about the relationship between viewing nature and human well-being, the methods of viewing nature can be divided into two parts: viewing nature through specific media (e.g., through a window, a book, a painting or a videotape) and being with the presence of nature. This study aims to clarify the research significance of viewing nature and find deficiency in this field to maximize the role of landscapes in human health and well-being.

There is limited research on how the context in which moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) occurs influences the relationship between physical activity and affect. This study aimed to investigate how the social context and physical environment enhance the relationship between MVPA and affect in daily life. Overall, 119 adolescents (mean age = 14.7 years) provided information about their core affect, physical environment and social context on multiple occasions over a 4-day period using ecological momentary assessment. Additionally, participants' level of MVPA was objectively measured using accelerometers. Level of MVPA was positively associated with energetic arousal, being outdoors was positively associated with valence and energetic arousal, and being with someone else was also positively associated with energetic arousal. Additionally, being outdoors moderated the association between MVPA and tense arousal so that MVPA was only inversely related to tense arousal when outdoors. These findings showed that young people experience more positive valence, greater levels of energetic arousal and less tense arousal when physically active outdoors compared to when indoors and highlight the importance of encouraging young people to participate in physical activity outdoors. Further research is warranted to understand how social contexts may influence the association between MVPA and affect in young people.

El cual da cuenta de manera especifica al objetivo cuatro, concerniente a “establecer las relaciones entre las practicas de apropiacion cultural juvenil y la construccion de la identidad, que poseen las personas jovenes univer-sitarias de segundo ano de la carrera de Orientacion de la Universidad de Costa Rica y de la carrera de Psicologia de la Universidad Simon Bolivar de Barranquilla”. Por consiguiente, se llevo a cabo una investigacion cualitativa de tipo hermeneutico-interpretativo, en la cual se confor-maron de manera voluntaria 4 grupos de jovenes de segundo ano de la carrera de Orientacion de la Univer-sidad de Costa Rica y de la carrera de Psicologia de la Universidad Simon Bolivar de Barranquilla, con cada grupo se realizaron 2 encuentros, para un total de 8 grupos focales, desarrollandose dos grupos de jovenes y cuadro encuentros por pais. This study accounts for objective number four, concerning “establishing the relationships between youth cultural appropriation practices and the construction of identity, which are possessed by young university students in the second year of the career of Counseling at the University of Costa Rica and from the career of Psychology at the Simon Bolivar University of Barranquilla”. Conse-quently, a qualitative hermeneutic-interpretive research was carried out, in which 4 groups of second-year of the career of counseling of the University of Costa Rica and of the Psychology career of the University of Simon Boli-var were voluntarily formed. University Simon Bolivar of Barranquilla, held 2 meetings with each group, for a total of 8 focus groups, developing two groups of young people and four meetings per country. Among the results, it has been identified how new consumer trends associate mainly with uses, reconfigure being young, while the processes of cultural significance are constant, regionalization advances and burst into spaces varying the order, creating more diffuse border lines, endowing their own worlds and their being with new meanings. It is evident in both countries how the different and varied consumption practices and their uses, being appropriate by the youngs, taken to their daily lives, are endowed with meaning and significantly shape their identity

Individuals with serious mental illnesses generally spend extensive amounts of time at home and alone. The aim of the current study was to examine differences in emotional states between being at home and being in the community, and between being alone and being with others. Ecological momentary assessment was utilized 3 times per day over 14 days with 91 individuals with serious mental illnesses to assess where they were, who they were with, and momentary feeling of depressed mood, loneliness, and happiness. A total of 2,257 data points were analyzed with hierarchical linear modeling. Participants were at home 70.6% of the time and alone 58.6% of the time. After controlling for diagnosis and symptoms, being in the community was associated with lower depressed mood, lower loneliness, and greater happiness, and being with others was associated with lower loneliness and greater happiness. There was no significant interaction effect between being at home and being alone on any emotional states. Being in the community and being with others contributed to more favorable emotional states among individuals with serious mental illnesses. These findings support the need to promote opportunities for community participation and interactions with others outside of one's home. Policies, programs, and clinical practices should align with the goal of supporting people with serious mental illnesses to actively engage in community living to facilitate their emotional well-being. In a social situation, why is it sometimes off-putting when a person reaches for his smartphone? In small-group contexts such as a college seminar, a business meeting, a family meal, or a small musical performance, when a person begins texting or interacting with social media on a smartphone he may disengage from the group. When we do find this off-putting, we typically consider it to be just impolite or inappropriate. In this essay, I argue that something more profound is at stake. One significant way in which individuals shape their self-identities is through interactions with others in small groups. Much identity-work is interdependent; it requires generating and preserving social contexts. I argue that the smartphone-use of some individuals can fracture a group’s context and thus negatively affect the identity-work of others. In this essay, I examine identity-work, sociality, and personal technology from a perspective of existential phenomenology.

Abstract. This article explores people’s perception of their experience while being alone or being with others. To that aim, data from nine studies (total N = 1,717) were meta-analyzed. In each study, participants performed a sentence-completion task referring to their experience alone/“with others”. The responses were analyzed using a text analysis software. Results showed that in a “with others” (vs. alone) mindset, people are more focused on the present, and less focused on the past or the future. When “with others,” more anxiety but less sadness is expressed. Social motives – affiliation and power – are more pronounced in the “with others” mindset, whereas leisure activities are salient in the alone mindset. Conclusions are derived regarding the nature of the experience in these basic conditions.

Purpose The experiences of clinical facilitators working within non-conventional mental health settings have not yet been explored. The purpose of this paper is to explore the experiences of clinical facilitators when facilitating nursing student learning within a non-conventional mental health clinical placement. Design/methodology/approach This study adopted a qualitative phenomenological approach. The participants in this study were five registered nurses who had facilitated students at a non-conventional mental health clinical placement called Recovery Camp. Individual in-depth interviews were conducted. Findings The facilitators experiences could be understood through two main themes: facilitator skills and opportunities for student learning. Recovery Camp allowed the facilitators to build on their own nursing and facilitation skills, while examining themselves as a mental health nurse. “Being with” students (immersive engagement) enabled opportunistic and rare learning moments. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first known study to explore the experiences of clinical facilitators working in a non-conventional mental health placement.

Catholic evolutionists have proposed to reconcile evolutionary anthropogenesis with Catholic doctrine by suggesting that a created soul could be infused into a body produced (in part, if not wholly) by evolution from an animal body. Could such an infusion yield not just a Platonic composite but a being with the unity of substance required by a Thomistic philosophy of nature? How could such a soul be the form of the body into which it was infused?This paper suggests that animals seem to have sense-powers with a level of complexity, if not sufficient to underlie the abstraction of concepts in a being that also has a rational soul, then at least nearly so. The burden of proof lies rather on those who think that evolutionary development of such powers is not possible.In its final section, the paper argues that the existence of Eve as a second, and the only additional, initial rational being does not create special problems for the view here articulated.

Mindful parenting has been proposed as a contributing factor for reducing psychological problems in children. However, mixed results regarding the association between mindful parenting and child psychological problems suggest that the benefits could be moderated by children’s characteristics. This study, based on differential susceptibility to parenting models, aims to examine whether child dispositional mindfulness profiles can moderate the impact of mindful parenting, so that children with a poorer dispositional mindfulness profile benefit more when their parents present a mindful parenting style. A total of 348 parents and their adolescent children participated in a two-wave longitudinal study with a 1-year interval. Parents answered measures of mindful parenting (mindful discipline and being in the moment with the child), and children answered measures of dispositional mindfulness, depressive symptoms, aggressive behavior, and peer victimization. The adolescents were classified according to their dispositional mindfulness profiles. Mindful discipline predicted reduced depressive symptoms, aggression, and victimization after 1 year, whereas, being with the child only predicted reduced depressive symptoms. The results showed an interaction effect, according to which adolescents with poor dispositional mindfulness (i.e., high scores in observing and low scores in nonjudging and acting with awareness) benefited more from mindful parenting. Adolescents with a poor dispositional mindfulness profile benefit the most from mindful parenting. Adolescents with an adequate mindfulness profile tend to show lower levels of aggression and depressive symptoms, regardless of whether their parents exhibit a mindful parenting style.

Background The experience of physical activity is influenced by social relations and gendered roles. Group-based lifestyle interventions are considered effective in promoting physical activity, yet the experiences of being active with others are unknown among individuals with severe obesity. Purpose To explore how individuals with severe obesity experience being with others during physical activity. Methods A qualitative hermeneutic phenomenological study of repeated single-gender focus group interviews was conducted with adults living with severe obesity during group-based lifestyle intervention. Results Three themes were developed: 1) 'Enjoying safety, kinship and belonging among peers'; 2) 'Feeling like a failure is shameful: A sense of aversion'; and 3) 'Striving to feel at home in physical activity: Needing distance from others.' The themes were drawn into an overall meaning 'Achieving wellbeing may always be a challenge: not feeling at home in the group or in body.' Conclusion Intersubjective and spatial dimensions of experiences are central and influence how individuals with severe obesity can feel wellbeing and 'at home' in physical activity. Physiotherapists should be aware of the individuals' vulnerability regarding feelings of failure, aversion, and shame as well as awareness of gendered norms and roles.

The text analyzes the geography and the perceived vulnerabilities in the community of Xixuau, located on the banks of the Jauaperi River, in the Lower Rio Branco region, in Roraima, in the extreme north of the Amazon. For this, it seeks in field research and in the bibliography of phenomenological affiliation, to understand the idea of ”‹”‹place, using the residents' narratives about their way of life and the historical relationship of this riverside being with the lived space. Although more frequent and intense on infancy, the attachment system can be triggered across the lifespan, from "the cradle to the grave." In adulthood, whenever the individual's internal working model does not have enough resources to sustain his/her insecurity, one seeks support from an attachment figure. Illness may trigger the attachment system, obliging the individual to pursue the proximity of an attachment figure. In our research on how the doctor's attachment style affects the doctor-patient relationship (Barstad-Castro Neves, 2018), we assessed the doctor's attachment style and correlated with a semi-structured interview script. One of the categories highlighted in our research was how physicians cared for their patients. The present article aims to explore, expand, and clarify the category mentioned. It is essential to discuss how the car ing and concerning doctor acts towards his/her patient, and how the caregiving system, from the lens of attachment theory, has a function in that matter. Our research may contribute to the discussion of strategies to improve the doctor-patient relationship, therefore refining patient adherence and compliance to treatment. Besides, it can also shed light on how to give support to medical professionals, starting from medical school.

Nanomagnetic devices, such as nano-field effect transistor biosensors and radio frequency magnetic induction therapies, came into being with the development of medical nanomaterials. The application of nanomagnetic materials in the treatment of cancers is rapidly becoming increasingly important because of its ability to target therapy and diagnose early. In this review, an untechnical overview of the fundamental of magnetism in nanomaterials and an illustration of how these materials are applied are presented. The applications of nano-field effect transistor biosensors for the detection of tumor biomarker nanomaterials in the therapy and diagnosis of cancers and nanomagnetic materials are summarized in this paper. A systemic summary of the use of nanomagnetic materials and nano-filed effect transistor biosensors for the treatment and diagnosis of tumors is also provided in the review.

BackgroundDifferences between patients' and nurses' perceptions of good nursing might be one of the barriers to optimal nursing care that matches the preferences of patients. A better understanding of the attributes of Good Nursing Care across different settings, circumstances, and patient populations will provide an integrated idea about Good Nursing Care, which can contribute to nursing theory development and future research.PurposeThis study aimed to integrate the literature on patients' and nurses' perceptions of what constitutes Good Nursing Care and thereby identify the similarities and differences in patients' and nurses' perceptions of Good Nursing Care.MethodsA literature search of PubMed, CINAHL, and MEDLINE was conducted for article published between January 2000 and June 2017. A total of 18 studies were identified and assessed using the Mixed Method Appraisal Tool. The studies were analyzed and synthesized using Swanson's theory of caring as the theoretical framework.ResultsSome dissents and agreements were found between patients and nurses regarding the crucial attributes of Good Nursing Care. While “enabling,” such as providing information, coaching, and guidance, was more emphasized by patients, “being with” (being present at the bedside) was more emphasized by nurses. “Doing for,” especially expert performance and enhancing physical comfort, was the most frequently mentioned attribute of Good Nursing Care by both patients and nurses.Implications for PracticeTheoretical developments regarding Good Nursing Care—characterized by a balance between sufficient nursing knowledge and competent technical skills on one hand and patient empowerment based on trusting relationships on the other hand—would promote the provision of Good Nursing Care in clinical practice.

This article describes how the happenstance discovery of my mother’s 1950s Windrush Generation suitcase, led to a devised cathartic ritual theatre performance and a reimagining of my past future present. Acknowledging the suitcase as a heritage object, I hoped to safely locate myself with inter- and transgenerational trauma, and dialogues about racism in relation to the Transatlantic Slave Trade. First and foremost, this work is informed by Dramatherapy. It also holds in mind the research of Jungian analyst, Brewster, on ‘archetypal grief’, and the socio-political activism of Sharpe’s, ‘wake-work’. Its conclusion is twofold: First, that with the use of the suitcase within ritual theatre performance, alongside the devised metaphoric story and character of Black, I was able to accrue a significant means of resilience to meet with effects of racism worthy of further investigation. Second, that the performance provided a deepened dialectic and cathartic experience between performer and audience above and beyond cerebral language. Three stand-alone performances of ‘Being With Black’ took place at the British Association of Dramatherapists Conference at the University of Chester in September 2018, and later at the University of Roehampton, London in February and March 2019.

Despite a growing amount of literature on aging and sexual activity, there are still a limited number of studies that capture older people's understanding of sexuality in later life. This study explored the meanings that older people ascribe to sexual activity and how these meanings relate to the continuation, the decline, and the complete cessation of sexual activity. Thirty in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with Czechs aged 50-75 years (13 men) who were recruited through a preventive cognitive health program offered at a hospital. The analysis was carried out with a grounded theory approach and the principles of consensual qualitative research. The study identified three dominant understandings of sexual activity in later life that emerged as a reflection of the aging process. The first was sexual activity within a relationship that represented proof of being with someone and where sexual inactivity was linked to the threat of loneliness. The second concerned sexual pleasure and its continuity in later life, while its loss gave room for affliction and the emergence of ageist beliefs. The third linked sexual activity with the connotations of self-identifying as young versus being self-perceived as really old. The study findings suggest that the understanding of sexual activity in later life is ambivalent. Its continuity is viewed as an instrument for mitigating the markers of getting old, while the threat of its decline may activate older people's desire for asexual aging and negative views on aging.

Ritrovare, attraverso la mindfulness, la consapevolezza di sé nel momento presente, costituisce una risorsa dal valore pregevole. Vivere consapevolmente nel "qui ed ora" consente di ascoltarsi, prima di rivolgere l'ascolto verso l'altro; permette di coltivare il proprio esserci" che rende possibile l'"esserci per" l'altro, in un incontro autentico e privo di giudizio. Ciò vale in particolar modo quando l'interlocutore appare bisognoso di presenza e di cura, ad ogni grado, da parte di caregiver professionali e, frequentemente, familiari.

Many jurisdictions with legal forms of assisted dying require that written requests be witnessed by independent witnesses. In Canada, a unique program of volunteers was founded to make such witnesses available. A total of 106 volunteers completed a questionnaire about their experiences, challenges, and perspectives; 24 were also interviewed. Although the witnesses felt well prepared for their roles, they encountered challenges including role uncertainty, communication difficulties, and the emotional impacts of being with suffering patients and their grieving families. Most felt that the requirement for independent witnesses is an intrusive and unnecessary barrier to accessing medical assistance in dying.

There are several kinds of loneliness: assumed, forcible, imposed, morbid, or “collective”. Loneliness may be creative, or empty; there is even loneliness with nothing at stake, as there is meaningful loneliness, and vulgar loneliness. All seem to share something – the ordeal of being with oneself, the fear that one will not be able to bear it in the end. In Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe, loneliness becomes the protagonist’s tutor, he lives with loneliness and survives. In The History of Hayy Ibn Yaqzan, the Andalusian novelist and philosopher Abu Bakr Ibn Tufail shows how reason can develop independently of the influence exerted by society. The two writers introduce two types of Robinsons, such as the medieval Hayy ibn Yaqzan, in the philosophical novel of the 11th century, the self-taught philosopher of the Grenadian Ibn Tufayl and the modern European Robinson Crusoe, as Daniel Defoe shows him in his renowned 18th century novel. The two protagonists present two completely different attitudes to society, the world, thought and God: attitudes that, being characteristic of the historical moment of each one, mark, at the same time, two dimensions of the human being.

On-farm trials were conducted for the evaluation of IPM modules in cotton against the whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bathinda and Mansa at five locations during 201718 and 2018-19. The modules included neem-based insecticides along with detergent powder, darek (Melia azedarach L.) extract and the University recommended insecticides compared with that of farmers’ practice of mixing of non-recommended insecticides. The data revealed significantly maximum reduction (80.0- 85.1% and 80.9- 85.4%) in the incidence of adults compared to the University recommended practice (Mj) at Bathinda and Mansa, respectively. This was followed by module (Mj) comprising use of home-made darek extract (54.4 to 63.3% at Bathinda and 58.0 to 72.5% at Mansa). Module (M3) comprising of addition of detergent powder in neem-based spray solution remained on a par with M with 55.8 to 62.7 and 57.4 to 71.9% reduction in incidence over untreated check. Farmers’ practice of spraying non-recommended insecticides resulted in minimum reduction in incidence (16.7 to 23.1% and 23.6 to 36.3%, at Bathinda and Mansa, respectively). The trend in yield was similar to the above, with maximum being in M4 followed by Mj and M3 with the least yield being with the module comprising of use of non-recommended sprays by the farmers. Maximum number of spray applications (5-6) were given in M4 (farmer’s practice). Maximum and minimum B: C ratio was obtained with the modules M4 (1.3 to 1.5) and M4 (0.8 to 1.2), respectively.

To point out that he was an illustrious jurist, prominent diplomat, politician and distinguished journalist is insufficient; therefore, the love for his homeland and the impetuous struggle for the progress of our country, as well as the insatiable and continuous aspiration for knowledge became the constitution of a being with a superior culture, which was hardly appreciated in his time and even in the present times and that in these lines, we look with admiration to recognize it.

Neste trabalho, tematizamos a formação de professores ao estar-com[1] a Investigação Matemática no âmbito de um grupo de formação e nos interessamos, enquanto foco da pesquisa, pelos aspectos que se revelaram significativos ao processo de constituir-se professor neste contexto. De uma postura qualitativa, procedendo de acordo com os pressupostos da pesquisa fenomenológica e hermenêutica interrogamos: quais aspectos se revelaram significativos no processo de constituir-se professor ao estar-com a Investigação Matemática no contexto de um grupo de formação? Articulados em dois grupos de ideias, os dados nos permitem inferir que a experiência e a relação eu-outro se mostraram aspectos relevantes à formação. A experiência entendida como o encontro do ser com algo que experimenta, o eu concebido como o individual autêntico dos sujeitos e o outro concebido como o colega, o professor coordenador, a literatura, o mundo. Afirmamos, portanto, que o processo de constituir-se professor investigador ocorreu na experiência produzida por relações interpessoais, na esfera subjetiva do eu e intersubjetiva do outro, sendo dependente do modo que o sujeito a ele se dirigiu e o percebeu, bem como do sentido que atribuiu ao percebido.[1] Termo ligado à concepção heideggeriana que significa estar junto a, ao existir no mundo e diz da abertura do modo de ser para outros entes (BICUDO, 2009).

The body is central to the experience of aging. In this metasynthesis, the authors located, analyzed, and reconceptualized phenomenological research on how life is experienced within and through the body after 85 years. Sandelowski and Barroso’s metasynthesis method was employed. Seven databases were searched for primary phenomenological studies. After systematic screening and quality appraisal, 19 studies were included for review. Analysis was guided by Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s existential philosophy of embodiment. Findings were organized using Max van Manen’s reflective lifeworld existentials. Four ontological dimensions emerged, namely, being in a body (corporeality), being in time (temporality), being in place (spatiality), and being with others (relationality). Each dimension captures a distinct experiential dimension of this stage of the life course. The results suggest vast heterogeneity in the ontological experience of aging, supporting the view that diversity grows with age. The ability to adapt to multidimensional losses was identified as a source of resilience.

Human beings are social animals. A solitary life would be horrible for most of us. What makes life worthwhile is being with others and engaging in shared projects with them. To do justice to these facts, philosophers need to pay more attention to the first-person plural, we/us, and to rethink their accounts of value and virtue.

Among the one-word fragments from unknown plays of Sophocles, fr. inc. 1111 R. (φίλανδρον) has been treated as one of the more straightforward. It derives from a passage in Hermogenes of Tarsos’ treatise Περὶ Ἰδεῶν (late second century c.e.), which includes the Sophoclean adjective, its referent and a brief gloss: … ὁ Σοφοκλῆς … φίλανδρόν που τὴν Ἀταλάντην εἶπε διὰ τὸ ἀσπάζεσθαι σὺν ἀνδράσιν εἶναι (‘… Sophocles called Atalante philandros somewhere because she enjoyed being with men’). Brunck assigned the fragment to Sophocles’ tragic Meleagros; most subsequent editors have edited the fragment as sedis incertae while commenting favourably on Brunck's ascription. This suggestion has also found support beyond Sophoclean scholarship, and, to my knowledge, no alternative has been brought forward. While the ascription of the fragment to the Meleagros is prima facie not implausible, I shall argue that a thorough analysis of the difficult passage in Hermogenes calls for a revision of the current lexicographical accounts of the word φίλανδρος—as well as φιλανδρία—and suggests that fr. 1111 may in fact originate in a satyr-play.

Objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic led to school closures, cancellations of major events, and loss of in-person social interactions for children and youth. These restrictions undoubtedly impacted the lives of children and youth. This study describes the well-being of children and youth in Nova Scotia during the COVID-19 pandemic and their thoughts and feelings about the return to school, from the perspectives of both youth and parents.Methods: A province-wide survey was conducted in August 2020 with parents of school-age children and youth and youth to measure youth well-being since the pandemic began.Results: Parents of children and youth in grades pre-primary to 12 (n = 699; 53% girls) and youth in grades 3–12 (n = 279; 69% girls) completed the online survey. Perceptions of parents about children's emotions during the pandemic were: bored, safe, lonely, happy, and anxious. Youth reported feeling bored, relaxed, depressed, safe, and worried. Sixty-three percent of youth and 72% of parents reported that they/their child felt they were missing important life events. Parents reported that being with parents, being physically active and being with friends made their child feel positive. Youth reported that being with friends, pets and watching TV made them feel good during this time. Seventy-six percent of parents and 62% of youth reported they/their child were getting more screen time than before the pandemic. With schools closed, participants most frequently shared that they missed friends and social interactions, in-person learning, and extra-curricular activities. Youth and parents expressed worries about COVID-19 outbreaks and related restrictions when schools re-opened to in-person learning.Conclusion: The well-being of children and youth in Nova Scotia was greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and related school closures in 2020. It is essential that pandemic recovery plans prioritize the health and well-being of children and youth.

The development of biotechnology in the field of GMOs requires states to take specific decisions to regulate the spread of genetically modified crops. In the European Union all GM crops that circulation are subject to mandatory registration, which regulates the placing on the market and circulation of genetically modified raw materials, food and feed. The article presents systematized data about the registration of genetically modified soybean, maize and rapeseed in the European Union. It was established that most of the GM crops have introduced genes that give them tolerance to herbicides of different groups. The register of the European Union currently includes 12 events of soybean (GTS 40-3-2, A2704-12, Mon 89788, MON87705, DP 356043, A5547-127, FG 72, SYHTOH 2, DAS-44406-6, DAS-68416- 4, Mon 87708, BPS-CV127-9), 5 events of maize (MZHG0JG, DAS-40278-9, GA 21, NK 603, T 25), 3 events of rapeseed (GT 73, T45, TOPAS 19/2) with tolerance to herbicides. It has been shown that a significant number of registered GM plants have a combination of several events, including tolerance to herbicides and resistance to certain insects or improving quality features of crops. Among them are one event of soybean (DP305423-1), 9 events of maize (TC 1507, DP 4114-3, MON 87411-9, MON 87427, MON 88017, DAS59122-7, Bt 176, Bt 11, DAS 1507) and one event of rapeseed (MS8xRF3). Many GM crops (one event of soybean and 6 events of maize) have introduced genes that determine the plant's tolerance to insects. Only a tiny amount of GM crops are being with altered consumer or technological qualities. In the register of genetically modified crops, all events of GM crops are currently authorized for usage for food, supplements, feed and other product. А single event of maize (Mon 810), that was allowed for cultivation at the time of this analysis was at the stage of renewal of the permit.
