Aims: To determine ultrasound therapy as an effective adjuvant for the management of myofascial pain involving masticatory muscles. Study Design: Randomized clinical trial study. Place and Duration of Study: Department of oral medicine and radiology, Narayana dental college and hospital between March 2021 to November 2022. Methodology: We included 30 patients (20 females and 10 males; age group >18 years) clinically diagnosed with Myofascial pain who were randomly assigned into two groups each comprising of 15 patients. Group A patients received ultrasound therapy along with tizanidine 2mg twice a day for 14 days while group B patients received tizanidine alone. All the patients were evaluated for maximum inter-incisal distance, tenderness of muscles of mastication on palpation, pain while chewing, and pain during mandibular movements at baseline, 7th and 14th day. Results: A significant pain reduction and improvement in mouth opening was found in both the groups. However, patients who received both tizanidine and ultrasound therapy had greater relief compared to other group from 7th day to 14th day and the results were statistically significant. Conclusion: No side effects were observed in Group A during or after ultrasound therapy. As it is a non-invasive therapeutic modality and offers good patient compliance, ultrasound therapy can be used as an effective therapeutic adjuvant for the management of myofascial pain.

Breast cancer (BC) disease is the most common and rapidly spreading disease across the globe. This disease can be prevented if identified early, and this eventually reduces the death rate. Machine learning (ML) is the most frequently utilized technology in research. Cancer patients can benefit from early detection and diagnosis. Using machine learning approaches, this research proposes an improved way of detecting breast cancer. To deal with the problem of imbalanced data in the class and noise, the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) has been used. There are two steps in the suggested task. In the first phase, SMOTE is utilized to decrease the influence of imbalance data issues, and subsequently, in the next phase, data is classified using the Naive Bayes classifier, decision trees classifier, Random Forest, and their ensembles. According to the experimental analysis, the XGBoost-Random Forest ensemble classifier outperforms with 98.20% accuracy in the early detection of breast cancer.

Introduction. COVID-19 is an infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) which may be associated with a wide range of bacterial and fungal co-infections. Mucormycosis is an opportunistic fungal infection occurring in post COVID-19 patients. Objectives. To study the role of histopathology in mucormycosis and the predisposing factors associated in development of mucormycosis in post COVID-19 patients. Materials and methods. A prospective observational study was conducted in our hospital in the pathology department over a period of 3 months on 200 patients with mucormycosis who were infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus. Results. Out of the 200 patients with mucormycosis studied in post COVID-19 patients, age ranged from 21–80 years, of which 132 were men and 68 were women. Sites involved by mucormycosis were sinuses, orbit, cranium, and cutaneous. Ethmoid sinus was most involved, followed by maxillary sinus. Diabetes was present in 162 patients and hypertension in 92 patients. On histopathological examination, fungal load was severe in 49 patients, angioinvasion was present in 48 patients, perineural invasion was present in 32 patients, and necrosis was present in 121 patients. The number of patients discharged after surgery was 169, whereas 31 died. Conclusion. Histopathological features of mucormycosis like angioinvasion, perineural invasion, severe fungal load, and large areas of necrosis were directly proportional to the mortality rate. Thus, histopathologists can help in assessing prognosis at the time of tissue diagnosis, so that clinicians can optimize treatment accordingly. Diabetes and history of corticosteroid intake for treatment of COVID-19 were the two commonest predisposing factors for development of mucormycosis.

PurposeIn wireless sensor networks, improving the network lifetime is considered as the prime objective that needs to be significantly addressed during data aggregation. Among the traditional data aggregation techniques, cluster-based dominating set algorithms are identified as more effective in aggregating data through cluster heads. But, the existing cluster-based dominating set algorithms suffer from a major drawback of energy deficiency when a large number of communicating nodes need to collaborate for transferring the aggregated data. Further, due to this reason, the energy of each communicating node is gradually decreased and the network lifetime is also decreased. To increase the lifetime of the network, the proposed algorithm uses two sets: Dominating set and hit set.Design/methodology/approachThe proposed algorithm uses two sets: Dominating set and hit set. The dominating set constructs an unequal clustering, and the hit set minimizes the number of communicating nodes by selecting the optimized cluster head for transferring the aggregated data to the base station. The simulation results also infer that the proposed optimized unequal clustering algorithm (OUCA) is greater in improving the network lifetime to a maximum amount of 22% than the existing cluster head selection approach considered for examination.FindingsIn this paper, lifetime of the network is prolonged by constructing an unequal cluster using the dominating set and electing an optimized cluster head using hit set. The dominator set chooses the dominator based on the remaining energy and its node degree of each node. The optimized cluster head is chosen by the hit set to minimize the number of communicating nodes in the network. The proposed algorithm effectively constructs the clusters with a minimum number of communicating nodes using the dominating and hit set. The simulation result confirms that the proposed algorithm prolonging the lifetime of the network efficiently when compared with the existing algorithms.Originality/valueThe proposed algorithm effectively constructs the clusters with a minimum number of communicating nodes using the dominating and hit sets. Introduction: Provisional restorations are an integral part of xed prosthesis and dental implantology. They serve as a key role in functional and esthetic tryin for design of nal prosthesis. Fixed prosthesis prognosis depends on the quality of provisional restoration. In long term cases like full mouth rehabilitation and in implant supported prosthesis exural strength (FS) and elastic modulus (EM) of the interim prosthesis play a vital role. Aim: To evaluate and compare the exural strength (FS) and elastic modulus (EM) of provisional crown and bridge materials stored at different time intervals in articial saliva. Materials And Methods: Ninety bar-shaped specimens (with dimensions of 25 × 2 × 2 mm) as per American National Standards Institute (ANSI specication no 27) were fabricated with three provisional restorative materials Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA), Bis acrylic, Urethane dimethacrylate (UDMA) and are stored in articial saliva at different time intervals. Further three point bending test were carried out in universal testing machine to calculate FS and EM. Changes were evaluated and data was analysed using one way ANOVA and paired t test. Results: Results showed signicant difference (P0.05) between 10days to 30days storage. There was non-signicant difference (p>0.05) of EM of bis-acryl samples between 24hrs to 10days and from10days to 30days of storage. Conclusion: Within the limitations of the study, it can be concluded that the FS and EM of Bis acrylic is comparatively better than PMMA and UDMA. Bis acrylic could be a better provisional restorative material for an extended period as less change was observed in elastic modulus of bisacryl during long term storage compared to other materials.

Alpha induced reaction on natural Zirconium, a reactor component, upto 40 MeV has been measured using stacked foil activation technique. The total neutron production cross section from all possible channels for $\alpha$ energies upto 35 MeV is also estimated using TALYS 1.96. The isomeric cross section ratio for the production of the radionuclide $^{95}Nb$ has been measured and reported for the first time.

With the development of more compact and powerful methods of designing a digital logic on a silicon chip, most of the signal processing is being implemented in the digital domain. The implementation of an efficient reconfigurable digital decimation filter is presented in the work. In this paper we focuses with the implementation and design of a decimation filter which is used for hearing aid applications. We design decimation filter with the help of the canonic signed digit (CSD) representation. In decimation filter the cascaded integrated comb filter is designed using without multiplier less. The half band and corrector filters are designed using CSD. The decimation filter has been implemented on Xilinx FPGA using Virtex-2 technology and number of slices ,number of LUTs and number of registers are reported and also proposed design is implemented in synopsis design compiler for ASIC implementation and calculated area, power and delay. The resulting architecture is hardware efficient and consumes less power compared to conventional decimation filters. Compared to the normal decimation filter architecture, the proposed decimation filter architecture has less hardware saving of 60% and in addition, it decreases the power consumption of 80%, respectively and the proposed architecture is well suited for decimation filters of the hearing aids.

Investigation on evaluation of sesame genotypes for their relative resistance against leaf webber and capsule borer, Antigastra catalaunalis (Crambidae: Lepidoptera) was conducted at RARS, Jagtial during summer, 2020. A total of 68 sesame genotypes including TKG-22 (resistance check) and Swetha thil (susceptible check) were evaluated for their relative resistance/susceptibility. The intensity of leaf damage at 30 DAS is ranged from 5.00% (FFAT-10-5) to 25.00% (FFAT-142) whereas the mean leaf damage, 2.20% and 22.00% was found in resistant (TKG 22) and susceptible checks (Swetha thil), respectively. The mean percent flower damage at 50 DAS was recorded between 5.50% (JCS 3886 and JCS 4120) to 22.50% (FFAT-142 and JCS-3899) as against 4.50% and 19.00% in resistant (TKG-22) and susceptible (Swetha thil) checks respectively. The average percent capsule damage at 70 DAS is ranged from 2.75% (SI-225) to 9.00% (JCS 3603, JCS 3596 and JCS 4096) whereas, the mean capsule damage of 3.00% and 9.50% was recorded in resistant (TKG-22) and susceptible (Swetha thil) checks respectively. The sesame genotypes were categorized as highly resistant (HR), resistant (R), moderately resistant (MR), susceptible (S) and highly susceptible (HS) based on the cumulative score (0-9) and grade (1-9) of the individual genotype. Among 68 genotypes a total of 10 genotypes viz., IC-14120-1, SI-225, Jagtiala til-1, JCS 3980, JCS 3981, JCS 4053, JCS 3886, JCS 4120, YLM 11 and YLM 66 were showed less susceptibility to A. catalaunalis. These germplasm lines might be exploited in hybridization programme for development of the resistant cultivars.

Background: Adolescence is a distinct phase of complex developmental and psychological needs. UNICEF states that suicide is the second leading cause of death in this age group of young girls. A myriad of social, economic and health factors undermine the ability of the adolescents to lead full and productive lives. There is a need to study these factors as they are bound to health-related outcomes. Objective: To assess the psycho-social health of adolescent girls (15-19 years) living in a rural area using WHO HEEADSSS questionnaire and to compare their psychosocial risk profiles and demographic profiles to identify important risk factors. Methodology: This cross-sectional study was conducted from April to August 2017 on a convenient sample of 180 adolescent girls of 15-19 years residing in the rural field practice area of NRI Medical College, Guntur. The WHO’s HEEADSSS (Home and Environment, Education and Employment, Activities, Drugs, Sexuality, Suicide & Depression and Safety) questionnaire was used to assess the psychosocial risk profile of the subjects. The findings were subjected to multiple regression and chi-square test at 5% level of significance. Results and Discussion: Only 6.11% of the girls had scores within the normal range. 10% were at severe risk and 1.11% were in the very severe risk category. The following factors accounted for 75% of the psycho social risk: Age, Marital Status, Occupation, Positive History of Smoking or Alcohol intake in Family, Having Sleep Problems, Thoughts of inflicting self-hurt and Thoughts of inflicting physical hurt on others. Conclusion: HEEADSSS questionnaire is a useful tool to assess the psycho-social health of adolescent girls. Most girls didn’t have adequate knowledge regarding family panning methods or STDs. Qualitative methods would give further insight into these issues.

Primary data is used to analyze traditional medical system. This is collected by interviewing two traditional medical practitioners. Traditional system is cheaper compared to other systems and it is easy to administer and has no side effects. There is a need to conduct more studies, observations, and investigations to explore safe and effective ways to tackle epidemic diseases like dengue fever and its complications.

Using qualitative methods, a researcher can go beyond the surface and gather hidden information and associated feelings. Objective of the research was to qualitatively assess the knowledge, attitude and practices of health among adolescent girls (15-19 years) living in a rural area.Methods: This qualitative study to explore issues surrounding the health of adolescent girls in a rural area was conducted from August 2018 to November 2018 in the rural field practice area of the NRI Medical College. The qualitative methods used to gather information were focus group discussions (FGDs) and in-depth interviews (IDIs). Triangulation of information was done through key informant interviews (KIIs) with professionals working with adolescents.Results: The themes identified were causes of stress, education & marriage, safe pregnancy, prevalent diseases, exercise and leisure, health seeking behaviour and domestic violence. In-depth interviews with girls having significant social and psychological risk factors revealed a sense of loss of freedom, decision making power and resignation to their fate. Key informants revealed the neglect of adolescents in health programmes.Conclusions: Adolescent girls have poor knowledge about important health issues. Interventions that focus both on the continuation of the girls’ education and creating options for generating income are necessary along with non-judgmental counseling services and adolescent friendly health care facilities.

Objectives: This study aimed to establish the pharmacognostic profile of aerial parts of Euphorbia tirucalli (ET) as per World Health Organization guidelines for ensuring the quality and identification of adulteration. Materials and Methods: Standardization parameters such as macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of the study plant were evaluated. Hydroalcoholic and ethyl acetate extracts were prepared and subjected to preliminary phytochemical screening. Further, the extracts were used to analyze total phenol and flavonoid contents, and their antioxidant activities were estimated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and nitric oxide assay. Results: Shape, size, color, odor, surface characteristics, and microscopic images exhibited useful diagnostic characteristics of aerial parts of plants. Total ash, water-soluble, and acid-insoluble ash were found to be 16.65' ± 1.050', 5.623' ± 1.11', and 2.56' ± 0.706, respectively. The loss on drying was 9.6', and water and alcoholic extractive values were 4.0' and 26', respectively. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of saponins, steroidal triterpenoids, phenols, and flavonoids. Total flavanoid and phenol content in hydroalcoholic and ethyl acetate extracts of ET was found to be 246 mg rut/g, 120 mg rut/g, 81.36 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/g, and 279.58 mg GAE/g respectively. 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and nitric oxide scavenging assay revealed the IC50 values of hydroalcoholic and ethyl acetate extracts as 69.599 μg/ml, 20.454 μg/ml, 17.017 μg/ml, and 17.562, respectively. Conclusion: The findings obtained from the present study help to authenticate and establish the pharmacopeia standards for the ET plant.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the sagittal condylar angles set in the Hanau articulator by use of a method of obtaining an intraoral protrusive record to those angles found using a panoramic radiographic image. Materials and Methods: Ten patients, free of signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorder and with intact dentition were selected. The dental stone casts of the subjects were mounted on a Hanau articulator with a springbow and poly(vinyl siloxane) interocclusal records. For all patients, the protrusive records were obtained when the mandible moved forward by approximately 6 mm. All procedures for recording, mounting, and setting were done in the same session. The condylar guidance angles obtained were tabulated. A panoramic radiographic image of each patient was made with the Frankfurt horizontal plane parallel to the floor of the mouth. Tracings of the radiographic images were made. The horizontal reference line was marked by joining the orbitale and porion. The most superior and most inferior points of the curvatures were identified. These two lines were connected by a straight line representing the mean curvature line. Angles made by the intersection of the mean curvature line and the horizontal reference line were measured. The results were subjected to statistical analysis with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The radiographic values were on average 4° greater than the values obtained by protrusive interocclusal record method. The mean condylar guidance angle between the right and left side by both the methods was not statistically significant. The comparison of mean condylar guidance angles between the right side of the protrusive record method and the right side of the panoramic radiographic method and the left side of the protrusive record method and the left side of the panoramic radiographic method ( p= 0.071 and p= 0.057, respectively) were not statistically significant. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it was concluded that the protrusive condylar guidance angles obtained by panoramic radiograph may be used in programming semi-adjustable articulators.

Tuberculosis of parotid lymph nodes is a rare condition. Although uncommon, it must be included in differential diagnosis of a discrete parotid gland swelling or mass. Early recognition of the disease entity and awareness of its potential existence can spare the patient unnecessary surgical intervention. A 13-year-old female patient presented with a painless swelling in left preauricular region. Ultrasonographic examination showed presence of calcified lymph nodes with central necrosis. Fine needle aspiration cytology showed epitheloid cells, foci of calcification and areas of caseation necrosis suggestive of tuberculosis- Standard antituberculous regimen was planned for 6 months with rifampicin, ethambutol, isoniazid and pyrazinamide. Patient discontinued the antituberculous regimen after free of clinical symptoms at the end of the 5th month. Recurrence of the tuberculosis was seen 2 weeks after the discontinuation of the treatment. Completed retreatment for 8 months and follow-up shown patient free of tuberculosis.
