Established in 1946, and consisting of 191 member countries including Türkiye, UNESCO has recorded Emine Karadayı, from the Sarıkeçili Yoruks, in the "Living Human Treasures National Inventory of Turkey" prepared by the General Directorate of Research and Education of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in the field of natural dyeing and weaving. Emine Karadayı, born in 1965 in Mersin/Gülnar, is an illiterate but award-winning weaving and natural dyeing master who weaves sacks reflecting the cultural values of traditional Yoruk life. This study examined the sack weavings of Karadayı, an award-winner in the categories of weaving and natural dyeing within the scope of intangible cultural heritage, and the Sarıkeçili Yoruk life, which are at risk of disappearing. The motif, pattern, and composition applications of the weavings carry traces of Yoruk life and culture. The Yoruk lifestyle, culture, and handcrafts are at risk of extinction in recent years. In this study, sacks still in use in Yoruk life were examined in terms of pattern, color, and composition characteristics. The Sarıkeçili Yoruk have named a large portion of the sacks they use as Alaçuval. The sack weavings examined in this study have been grouped by names such as Topakyanışlı, kirmenli, koçboynuzlu, sandıklı, alaca, pıtraklı according to their patterns; flour sack, clothes sack, food sack according to their usage areas; and Wool, Coarse, and Black sack according to the materials used. In this study, traditional folk medicine practices and ocaks in Babuç Tomb located in Hamzalı village of Sulakyurt district of Kırıkkale province are discussed. In the field researches, these beliefs and practices, which are far from modern medicine and live in their original form, were recorded by observation and interview. Its relationship with belief practices that continue in different forms in other regions has been investigated. In the villages where the population is decreasing, these practices are facing extinction because they cannot be transferred to the younger generations. These traditional healing processes are also seen in many other places. The method of healing process transferred from a family by blood ties has been the subject of many researches and revealed the institution of the ocak. Many topics can be mentioned, such as be member of ocak, folk medicine, healing, wishing, tying a cloth, and sacrificing, whose application and steps are followed in the natural environment. Respect for the tomb and the hand believed to be in it; The importance of sacrifice, which is a form of gratitude to the creator, in folk medicine is explained. The practices and beliefs continued in the study were recorded. Apart from the people residing in the village, interviews were also held with people who came to visit the tomb. The present study analyzed the potential landscape/habitat networks for Caracal (Caracal caracal) in Urla-Çeşme- Karaburun peninsula. In this way, it was aimted at providing a base for future reintroduction program for caracal, a threatened species, in the study area. The methodology of the study is composed of the following stages: Identifying potential habitats, carrying capacities of the potential habitats, viability of the network population and linkage analysis. Eleven potantial habitat patches were identified for caracal in the study area but only 5 of them were found to be suitable for the species. However, based on carrying capacity analysis, it was concluded that none of those habitats were sufficient to hold a viable caracal population in the long run. This revealed that identifying or establishing ecological linkages between those habitat patches was neccecassry to achieve the viability of the network population. The least costly paths were identified to determine the potential suitable linkages which would theoretically facilitate the flux of the caracal between the habitat patches. As a result, 36 linkage alternatives were distinguished. Based on extensive considerations, 11 of them were excluded. Remaining 25 potential linkages were elaborated in order to make some recommendations for further studies and implementation. The present study revealed that the habitats in the study region are very much fragmented and none of the habitat patches is suitable to hold a viable caracal population. Therefore achieving the connectivity of habitat patches is suggested to be a priority for any future conservation initiative for caracal and for any other similar species. Achieving the connectivity of the existing habitats will also have positive impact on the conservation of biodiversity in the region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
