Abstract

In this study, traditional folk medicine practices and ocaks in Babuç Tomb located in Hamzalı village of Sulakyurt district of Kırıkkale province are discussed. In the field researches, these beliefs and practices, which are far from modern medicine and live in their original form, were recorded by observation and interview. Its relationship with belief practices that continue in different forms in other regions has been investigated. In the villages where the population is decreasing, these practices are facing extinction because they cannot be transferred to the younger generations. These traditional healing processes are also seen in many other places. The method of healing process transferred from a family by blood ties has been the subject of many researches and revealed the institution of the ocak. Many topics can be mentioned, such as be member of ocak, folk medicine, healing, wishing, tying a cloth, and sacrificing, whose application and steps are followed in the natural environment. Respect for the tomb and the hand believed to be in it; The importance of sacrifice, which is a form of gratitude to the creator, in folk medicine is explained. The practices and beliefs continued in the study were recorded. Apart from the people residing in the village, interviews were also held with people who came to visit the tomb.
