The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the amount of cow milk production and its price in Turkey in the period between 1985-2015.The Koyck model that is one of the distributed lag models was used to analyse of these data. The production of cow milk was considered as dependent variable and the price series consisting of cow milk prices and lagged price series are considered as explanatory variable in the model. According to the results of Koyck model, it was determined that the production of cow milk was affected by the prices of maximum one year retrospectively and the time required to dramatically affect to production of cow milk of the change taken place in prices of cow milk was 2.9 years. Furthermore, the increase of 1 TL in price of cow milk decreases the production of cow milk by 183372.4 tonnes. On the other hand, the increase of 1 TL in prices in the previous period decreases the production of cow milk by 137345.9 tonnes. Based on these data, it can be said that the price of cow milk composed in the free market conditions is rather efficient in determination to production amount. In conclusion, economic measures such as making of production planning, constituting of efficient marketing opportunities, price policies and giving a place to stable production can be taken against to fluctutations in the price increases.

Objective: The infantile group that is accepted to be at risk of anaphylaxis has a special importance since they are unable to express their complaints and also the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis can be confused with common symptoms of infants such as drooling, vomiting, diarrhea and itching. However, early detection of the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis is crucial for effective diagnosis and treatment. The aim of study was to draw attention to infants anaphylaxis. Materials and Methods: All of the patients in the infant group (n=15) among a total of 35 anaphylaxis cases that we followed in the Pediatric Allergy Clinic of Dr. Behçet Uz Children’s Hospital between the years 2011-2015 were included in the study. Demographic and clinical features of the patients were evaluated. Results: 9 of 15 (60%) patients involved in the study were male and 6 (40%) were female, and the average age of anaphylaxis was 8.13±6.83 (min 1-max 24) months. In 93% of cases (n=14) the trigger was food and in 7% of cases (n=1) the trigger was not determined. The most frequently responsible foods were respectively cow’s milk (67%) and egg (20%). In 7 patients (47%), there were respiratory system and skin manifestations, in 7 patients (47%) 3 system involvement and in 1 patient respiratory and gastrointestinal system involvement has been observed. In only 3 cases (20%) the blood pressure was measured and also epinephrine was administered to only 3 cases (20%) in the hospital. In only 3 of the patients (20%), an epinephrine injector was prescribed after anaphylaxis. Conclusion: It was detected that the most common triggers are cow’s milk and egg, the subjective symptoms are frequently overlooked, an atopic nature is a risk factor and physicians’ rates of blood pressure measurement, epinephrine administration and EpiPen autoinjector prescription are low. Objective: Cow's milk allergy is the most common form within the food allergy its prevalence increased recent years in children. In this study, we aim to determine the primary care physician's knowledge about diagnosis of cow's milk allergy, treatment and adrenaline auto injector usage. Materials and Methods: One hundred twenty-six voluntary primary care physicians who are working in Malatya city were included in the study. Interview with each participant were carried out and cow's milk allergy form which was prepared previously was filled in. Results: The median age was 42 (26-62), median length of professional experience was 16 (2-39) years and 89 (70.6%) of participant were male gender. The mean examined patient number by primary care physicians was 37.4 (± 14.6) for each day and the mean examined patient number whose age was under 3 years was 8.5 (± 4.5). Of the 25.4 percent of primary care physicians did not have knowledge about skin prick test, serum specific Ig E level and/or oral challenge test for diagnosis of cow's milk allergy. Although 73% of participant knew the elimination milk and dietary product from infant who was considered to have allergy to cow's milk and mother, only 13.5% of them knew the prescribe hypoallergenic formula for infant with cow's milk allergy. 64.3% of participant knew the prescribe the adrenaline auto injector in case of anaphylaxis due to cow's milk. Knowledge of adrenaline auto injector use, appropriate side for injection and dose were 34%, 34.1% and 30.2%, respectively. There was no significant effect of primary care physicians's age and length of professional experiences on the knowledge of cow's milk allergy and adrenaline autoinjector usage. Conclusion: The knowledge of primary care physician about diagnosis of cow's milk allergy, treatment and adrenaline auto injector usage are insufficient. Therefore it should be useful to training programs about these topics for primary care physician. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of duration of breast feeding and the age of introduction of cow's milk in diet, among children aged 515 years with a diagnosis of asthma. Methods: The asthma group (n:120) was composed of children followed up in our Outpatient Asthma Clinic, with a diagnosis of asthma whose symptoms emerged between 515 years of age the children within similar age ranges, who were admitted to Outpatient Pediatrics Clinic with nonasthmatic complaints comprised the control group (n:98). The data about duration of breast feeding, age of introduction of cow's milk in diet, gender, the fuel used for heating, cigarette smoking and the presence of indoor allergens were recorded during family interviews and compared between two groups. Results: There was not any statistically significant difference between groups regarding total breast feeding duration. The duration of exclusive breast feeding among asthmatics compared to controls was statistically longer (p:0,002). The parents of asthmatic children were found to initiate cow's milk into diet much earlier (p<0,001). The rate of parental cigarette smoking and use of charcoal as a heating agent were significantly higher among asthmatic group compared to the control group (p:0,001 and p:0,04 respectively). Conclusion: The total duration of breast feeding did not effect the development of asthma, but the early introduction of cow's milk may make the child vulnerable to asthma. Exclusive breast feeding for 6 months, delaying the age of initiation of cow's milk in the diet are important issues in decreasing the risk of asthma development between 515 years of age. This study was conducted to determine the somatic cell counts of cows' milks processed in a dairy plant for four years' period for both defining not only annual but also seasonal and monthly variations in the counts within a specific year, and for evaluating these results based on currently valid regulations. For this, somatic cell count per milliliter of 1278 cows' milks, which were sampled during processing in a dairy plant between 2005-2008, was determined by direct microscopic count method. The monthly geometric means of somatic cell counts were calculated, and subjected to statistical analysis to determine relevance in somatic cell count variations between years and between seasons and months of different years. The mean somatic cell count variations between years 2005 and 2008, which were 96.130 cell/ml and 104.190 cell/ml, respectively, were determined as significant (p<0.05). Analysis of seasonal variations in mean somatic cell counts revealed highest counts for Summer 2008 (111.850 cell/ml) followed by Spring 2007 (110.620 cell/ml), and the differences between the counts of these two seasons were significant (p<0.001). Mean monthly counts were the lowest in March (60.000 cell/ml), and the highest in September (122.210 cell/ml); and there were meaningful differences (p<0.001) between March, April, June and July counts in four years period. Results indicate that the somatic cell counts of cows' milks processed in a dairy plant for four years' period are in accordance with, even considerably lower than, the limits indicated in the related regulations of the Turkish Food Codex and of the European Union Commision; and that monthly and seasonal variations in counts of different years were statistically significant. Food protein induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) is a non immunoglobulin (Ig) E mediated gastrointestinal food hypersensitivity. Diagnosis is based on the history, clinical features, exclusion of other etiologies and food challenge. Management relies on the avoidance of any offending food. Herein we represent a twelve month-old boy who was believed to have had an IgE mediated food hypersensitivity after the ingestion of cow's milk based formula but who was diagnosed as FPIES after food challenge. research, Giriş: Anafilaksi açısından riskli kabul edilen infantil grup, hem yakınmalarını ifade edemediği için, hem de anafilaksi semptom ve bulguları infanttaki salya akması, kusma, ishal, kaşınma gibi sık görülen bulgularla karışabildiği için özel bir öneme sahiptir. Sonuç: En sık tetikleyicinin inek sütü ve yumurta olduğu, subjektif semptomların genellikle gözden kaçtığı, atopik yapının risk faktörü olduğu ve kan basıncı ölçme, epinefrin uygulama, epipen otoenjektörü reçeteleme oranlarımızın düşük olduğu saptanmıştır., Objective: The infantile group that is accepted to be at risk of anaphylaxis has a special importance since they are unable to express their complaints and also the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis can be confused with common symptoms of infants such as drooling, vomiting, diarrhea and itching. Listeria spp ,Silage ,food and beverages ,Cow's milk - Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of Listeria species in the milk and silage samples obtained from fifteen different farms in Burdur. A total of 250 samples (silage and cow's milk obtained from animals fed and not fed with silage) were analyzed. L. monocytogenes was isolated in 6 (2.4%) out of the 250 samples. Five (6.66%) of the 75 silage samples and 1 (1.17%) of the 85 milk samples obtained from cows fed with silage were contaminated with L. monocytogenes, whereas no Listeria spp. were isolated from the 90 milk samples from cows not fed with silage. The isolation of L. monocytogenes from milk and silage samples in Burdur indicates that these products could create a serious risk to the public health.
