CLUSTER analysis (Statistics) , *FACTOR analysis , *HIERARCHICAL clustering (Cluster analysis) , *NEW business enterprises , *SOCIOECONOMIC factors - Abstract
At the beginning of the Vojvodina Economic Development Program, which supports the local prosperity of the Hungarian community in Vojvodina, the need to support start-ups and start new businesses arose. Bringing the unemployed back into the world of work, through the acquisition of entrepreneurial competences and the encouragement of starting an independent business, are clearly measures that provide a perspective and a liveable vision of the future for the most economically endangered social groups, that are highly exposed to emigration (KOMS 2023). The possibility of getting back into the world of work and ensuring the development path of micro-enterprises significantly and directly contributes to the formation of a positive vision of the future and the strengthening of the possibility of prosperity locally. The main goal of this study is to investigate the effect of the territorial inequalities of Vojvodina municipalities on business launching, to determine the socio-economic indicators that encourage successful business launching, as well as to exploring the professional differences between start-ups and launching businesses based on the analysis of domestic and international literature. The complex phenomenon of the development potential of start-up businesses, the incubation potential of the municipalities, and the competitiveness of the start-ups were examined using factor analysis during this research. The hierarchical cluster analysis was made using the WARD'S method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MARKETING research , *CLUSTER analysis (Statistics) , *HIERARCHICAL clustering (Cluster analysis) , *CONSUMERS , *TRUST - Abstract
The development of information technologies and especially the widespread use of digital media have made the issue of privacy a popular concept in marketing research. Consumers are aware that their behavior on the internet is being monitored and that the power of collecting their personal data beyond their control is increasing. In particular, the fact that advertising activities are carried out using consumers' personal information necessitates an examination of consumers' reactions to this issue. Examining and grouping consumers' privacy concerns will have an impact on strategic decisions regarding advertising activities. For this reason, in the study, cluster analysis was performed based on the variables of surveillance perception, privacy concern, intrusiveness of the ad, trust, informativeness of the ad, entertainment of the ad, financial advantage, attitude towards the ad, intention to click on the ad, as well as demographic variables of income, age, and education level, which are thought to be effective on strategic decisions, and it was aimed to create market segments. For this purpose, a combination of hierarchical and nonhierarchical cluster analyzes were used. As a result of the analyzes applied on the data set, four clusters emerged that were similar to each other and differed from the respondents in the other group: Privacy Oriented, Ambivalent, Indifferent and Value Oriented. It is important to develop strategies by taking into account these determined clusters, in other words, market segments, while carrying out advertising activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the criteria that newly graduated industrial engineers in Türkiye consider when they are making a job choice, and to provide preliminary information to universities and various organizations in designing their related processes accordingly. The factors found to affect job selection decisions in the relevant literature were evaluated using data collected through an online survey by participants who graduated from an industrial engineering program in Türkiye between 2019-23 or will graduate at the end of the 2023-24 academic year. The responses obtained through snowball sampling were analyzed using descriptive statistics and cluster analysis. The results revealed that, in addition to the personality and demographic characteristics and career interests of recent graduates, factors such as the corporate responsibility and social performance of companies, the structure and content of job advertisements, the characteristics of the job and the organization, job previews and the characteristics of the recruitment process play an important role in the related process. This study contributes to the literature and in the relevant stakeholders of job choice in Türkiye, by providing recommendations that can help organizations to adapt their recruitment strategies and job offers to attract the best talent, universities to design their curricula and career services to better meet the needs and expectations of their students, and candidates to better prepare for the job market and increase their employability. Pigeon pea is a protein-rich legume grown in semi-arid areas. It ranks third among the pulses in Kenya and grows in different climates and soils. Characterizing pigeon pea farmers is important in formulating relevant policies for the farmers who differ from farmer to farmer. The study aimed at examining the characteristics of smallholder pigeon pea farmers. Using a cross-sectional survey of 310 pigeon pea farmers in Machakos, Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis were used to characterize the pigeon pea farmers and to identify their determinants. Results showed that farmers could be grouped into three clusters described as low agricultural production, average agricultural production, and high agricultural production farmers. The clusters were mainly shaped by variations in main occupation, type of roads, distance to the market, land size, source of agricultural information, and group membership. The study recommends reforms in land ownership policies that would increase financial accessibility and the infrastructure required by smallholder pigeon pea farmers.

Grid alanlara tanımlanan ÇKS (Çiftçi Kayıt Sistemi) bitkisel üretim verileri Moran I analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Analiz sonucunda elde edilen tarımsal kümeleşme haritalarıyla, tarımsal üretimi etkileyen diğer veriler bir araya getirilerek sentez işlemine tabi tutulmuştur. Sentez işleminde tarımsal üretim yönüyle öne çıkan KUA’nın elde edimini sağlanmıştır. Buradan elde edilen bulgularla, farklı kaynaklara sahip farklı coğrafyalarda, mekasal planlamanın kırsal kalkınma çalışmalarına sağlayabileceği katkı vurgulanmıştır.

The objective of this research was to clarify how the scale factor and bank performance relate to one another. It was observed that the benefit of scale emerged in various economic areas. In terms of efficient resource usage and cost advantage, the banking industry must determine if scale creates an advantage or not. Because banks’ financial services are strongly linked to the expansion of the economy. In this framework, banks were divided into three clusters as large-, medium-, and small-scaled banks and analyzed as two different panels, consisting of 7 large- and medium-scaled banks and 13 small-scaled banks, to explicate the factors influencing the performance of deposit banks between 2012:Q4-2020:Q3. As a result, the study’s findings showed that internal and macroeconomic variables, which were significant components regarding the scale structure of the banks’ performance, had a high explanatory power in the analysis of commercial banks and were crucial to the profitability of the banks. Even when deposit banks were categorized as Large-, Medium-, and Small-Scaled Banks, the chosen explanatory variables were significant and strong estimators.

- Abstract
This study was carried out in order to determine how OECD countries are clustered according to health supply and demand rates and to determine which OECD countries Turkey is similar to and to make some evaluations on the countries. 39 countries were included in the study. In the research, a total of 7 variables, 3 variables representing health supply and 4 variables representing health demand, were used. In the analysis of the data, k-means clustering analysis, one of the Ward analysis and nonhierarchical clustering analysis methods, was used. With the ANOVA test, the differences of the variables according to the clusters were determined. According to Ward's method, five clusters were formed and Turkey was found to be in the same cluster with Russia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. As a result of the k-means clustering analysis, the distance from the selected countries is at least Luxembourg has the highest number in Colombia. It has been observed that Turkey has the lowest values in two variables in the cluster it is in, and it does not have the highest value in any of the variables. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

NET migration rate , *GROSS domestic product , *PER capita , *CLUSTER analysis (Statistics) , *INTERNAL migration , *TURKS - Abstract
In this study, the relationship between the net migration rate in Turkey between 2008-2019 and the Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per Capita was tested with the Spatial analysis method. Net migration is expressed as the difference between the migration received by a particular settlement and the migration given. The value obtained by dividing the net migration value by the mid-year population and multiplying by one hundred or a thousand is expressed as the net migration rate. The phenomenon of migration that takes place in a certain place is one of the factors affecting per capita income. Spatial Analysis, on the other hand, determines the interaction between variables between units that are geographically close to each other. In the results of working; Provinces with strong and weak spatial relationships between net migration rate and GDP data for the specified years for Turkey were identified. Spatial distribution maps were drawn, Moran I index results, low increasing positive autocorrelation was detected in GDP data for the determined years, while high positive decreasing autocorrelation was detected for net migration rate data. Then, with the LISA clustering maps, the relationship between the provinces was low, high, and unrelated clustered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The productivity of tomato in Nepal is very low due to lack of high yielding, disease and pests resistant varieties. An experiment was carried out to evaluate horticultural traits of 50 genotypes obtained from World Vegetable Centre (WorldVeg), Taiwan and SAARC region, and local collections during March to August 2020 in open field conditions at National Horticulture Research Centre, Khumaltar, Lalitpur. The objectives were to identify promising open-pollinated tomato cultivars for high yield, appropriate fruit size, and disease resistant. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Results showed significant differences in yield and yield attributing characters including virus infection. The highest yield (39.6 mt ha-1) was produced by HRA43 and it was followed by HRA33 (26.4 mt ha-1). Among the WorldVeg OP lines, AVTO1429 produced the highest yield (16.21 mt ha-1) and it was followed by AVTO1717 (12.95 mt ha-1), AVTO0922 (11.83 mt ha-1) and AVTO1219 (11.7 mt ha-1) respectively. Most of the WorldVeg lines performed better than the check variety ‘Pusa Ruby’. Genotype HRA43, Red Local and Sindhupalchock Local were not affected by virus while Yellow Local showed 3.3% infection. Among the WorldVeg lines, AVTO1712 (20%), AVTO1717 (20%) and AVTO1718 (13%) and AVTO1219 (15%) showed less than 20% virus infection in the open field conditions. Cluster analysis using the unweighted paired group method with arithmetic mean showed that cluster-1 was the largest cluster comprised of 40 genotypes followed by cluster-2 and cluster-4. Genotypes from cluster-4 showed the higher fruit yield (25.1 mt ha-1) and resistant to the virus and the highest number of fruits per plot (1978 in 4.5 m2 area). The yield was low in cluster-1 which could be due to the heavy rainfall during the vegetative and reproductive stages. Genotypes Red Local and Sindhupalchock Local could be used in future tomato breeding program due to their resistant to TYLCV, higher potential yield and highest plant vigour in open field conditions at the mid-hill of Nepal. Considering the overall performance, genotype HRA43, HRA33 and AVTO1429 were promising lines with performance for yield and other horticultural traits.

Baobab is an iconic tree that is utilized as a source of food and income generation. While extant literature on baobab has focused on its morphological attributes and nutrient composition, there is a gap in literature in understanding the characteristics of processors and the factors that determine baobab processing. Using cross section data of 304 baobab processors in Kenya, we employ Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis to characterize baobab processors and identify determinants of baobab processing. Results of processed volumes show that baobab processors are grouped in three clusters of high, average and low categories. Clusters of processors are shaped by number of years in processing, access to training, quantity processed, processing cost, income from other sources, access to land, and profit levels. The study suggests the need to train processors on baobab processing to increase their efficiency and returns. Through training, processors will be able to make informed decisions on input use, packaging and presentation of their products to the customers. Also, investment in baobab conservation, harvesting more trees and reducing the maturity rate of the baobab trees will increase baobab inputs thus lowering processing cost.

This study was carried out to reveal the profile of honey consumers in TRB1 Region and to determine the willingness of consumers to pay additional payments. The source of the study is the primary data. The scope of the fieldwork for Local Honey Payment Willingness was determined as honey consumers in the city centers of TRB1 Region (Bingöl, Elazığ, Malatya and Tunceli). Data were obtained from these individuals through a questionnaire and face-to-face technique. In the survey, 6 different scenarios were presented to honey consumers and the characteristics of the honey they wanted to buy and their willingness to pay additionally were determined. The sample size of this study was determined by the "Unclustered Single Stage Random Probability Sampling Based on Population Ratios" method and was studied with 393 questionnaires. Cluster and factor analyzes were used in the study. In the cluster analysis, consumers are divided into clusters according to their income. Accordingly, 51.91% (204 consumers) of the consumers are in the low-income group, 36.38% (143 consumers) are in the middleincome group and 11.71% (46 consumers) are in the high-income group. According to the factor analysis results, which is one of the multivariate analysis techniques, the variables that affect the willingness to pay extra for honey were collected in 6 factors and it was determined that the sum of these six factors explained 63.90% of the total variance. When the outputs of the study were examined, it was determined that consumers generally expressed their desire for natural and organic honey. They stated that in 2 of the 6 scenarios presented to consumers, consumers prefer local natural honey and especially Bingöl honey. In the other three scenarios, consumers stated that they can prefer honey from any region of Turkey, provided that it is natural organic. It can be said that the education levels of consumers who want natural and organic honey increase in parallel with their income levels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
In this study, the issue of housing selection, which is one of the important decisions of human life, is discussed within the scope of Istanbul province with a risk-based approach. When studies in the literature focusing on housing selection are examined, it is seen that there exist applications that are within the scope of various decision criteria. However, each choice of housing is a vital and difficult decision to make under the different needs of the region. In a residential area located in an earthquake zone such as Istanbul, earthquake risk will be an extremely important decision criterion. In the application, clustering analysis is applied to group the neighborhoods in Istanbul according to their risk levels. The earthquake risk criterion is weighted using the Analytical Hierarchy Process method based on extensive literature review and other criteria obtained from online real estate institutions and expert opinions. By using these weighted criteria, a sample house selection ranking is obtained by the VIKOR method. The ranking process is carried out in two separate ways, including and not including the new risk criteria in decision analysis. As a result of the comparative analyses, it is emphasized that the earthquake risk, which is determined as a new decision criterion for housing selection, should be taken into account as much as other economic, physical and social decision criteria. BRAND equity , *MARKET segmentation , *MARKETING strategy , *PRODUCT management , *CLUSTER analysis (Statistics) , *INTENTION - Abstract
In the brand management process, value-oriented competition in touristic destinations, as well as in products and services, constitutes today's tourist market dynamics. One of the conditions for destinations to create the intention of revisiting is to create consumer-based brand equity. It is essential to successfully execute the strategic brand management process in order to create brand equity. For this reason, the first step of the brand management process is the identification and segmentation of the consumer group in the market. In this study, as an innovative approach to traditional market segmentation strategies, market segmentation based on perceptions has been implemented in touristic destinations. In this study, the perceptions of 1,168 tourists towards the brand equity of the destination in Fethiye under various dimensions, their experiences in organizing their holidays in the region and having a holiday in the region, and market segmentation with cluster analysis in the context of their demographic characteristics. As a result of the research, it has been determined that local and foreign tourists visiting Fethiye form different market segments according to their perceptions of Fethiye's brand equity. Within the scope of the study, some inferences have been made that will contribute to the development of marketing strategies that will enable the destinations to develop locally and contribute to the national economy. Introduction: The worldwide growth of aquaculture has led to persistent infections and the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB). The present study identified the similarity and correlativity of antibiotic susceptibility in the autochthonous bacterial flora of carps cultured in the East Kolkata Wetland and peri-urban Kolkata, India using clustering algorithms based on minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) data. Materials and Methods: Motile Aeromonas spp. and Escherichia coli (50 each) isolated in selective media from carps and their environment were tested for susceptibility to oxytetracycline (OTC) and chloramphenicol (CH) using the agar-disc diffusion assay. The MICs of these two antibiotics were determined using the agar dilution method and clustered using the BioNumerics 7.6 software package. Results: The MICs of OTC and CH varied from 0.39 to 50 µg/ml and 1.56 to >100 µg/ml, respectively. Dendrogram-based cluster analysis of motile aeromonads showed relatively high internal homogeneity, as >5 subgroups were obtained under the main clusters. Escherichia coli also showed high internal homogeneity. Dendrogram-based advanced nodal cluster analysis of motile aeromonads as a group yielded a greater number of clusters. Conclusion: The varied susceptibility among motile aeromonads and E. coli isolated from an aquaculture environment with no history of antibiotic use implied the possible contamination of carps with ARB from domestic and hospital effluents. Nevertheless, E. coli strains isolated from this environment exhibited high heterogeneity in antibiotic susceptibility, which is a serious cause for concern.

The COVID-19 pandemic deeply has affected the economy and financial markets of all countries. The aim of this research is to classify firms in the BIST 100 index through selected financial ratios and to compare their pre-COVID-19 and the COVID-19 period situation. In the research, cluster analysis was carried out with 14 different ratios regarding the liquidity ratios, financial structure ratios, operational ratios and profitability ratios from the financial statements of 81 firms between 2019Q1 and 2020Q3. As a result of the cluster analysis, it was determined that 7 clusters were obtained in both the pre-COVID-19 and the COVID-19 period, but the number of firms and firms forming the clusters differed. In the COVID-19 period, it was revealed that the firms with the highest rate of profitability per share, net profit margin and asset profitability were DEVA, ECILC, ASELS, KERVT, TATGD firms operating in the health, pharmaceutical, communication and food sectors. It is expected that the study will benefit investors both by identifying the firms they can invest in and by examining the clusters obtained in investing through portfolio diversification. In this study, constituting the transport indicators provinces in Turkey between the 2004-2018 year data set of 40 variables using cluster analysis methods were applied. Euclidean distance and Min-Max standardization measures were used to ensure the suitability of the data set used in the analysis. In the study, considering 40 variables constitute the transportation indicators available in Turkey 81 Province cluster is intended to reveal the structure. The single-connection method was accepted as the most successful method among the hierarchical methods used, due to the high value of the cophenetic correlation coefficient, and its results were evaluated. In addition, the analysis and interpretation of the results of the k-means method, which is one of the non-hierarchical methods, is included. The number of clusters was determined as five with the help of cluster validity indexes. Finally, it is seen that there are more distinct differences in transportation indicators in provinces with large city centers compared to other provinces. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years, the world population, urbanization process and need for natural water resources have increased. Therefore, providing the safe and clean drinking water has become an important topic of our day. This research was carried out to determine the bottled water consumption habits and purchasing behaviours of consumers. Primary data were obtained from 384 consumers living in urban areas of Adana province. The demographic characteristics and consumption habits of consumers were determined by calculating frequencies, ratios and averages. Factor analysis was used to determine the factors that affect the purchasing behaviours of the consumers and the cluster analysis were used to distinguish consumers with different perception levels from those with similar characteristics. Results indicated that 40.4% of participants consumed bottled water and 85.2% of these consumers took into account the brand of bottled water. Factor analysis revealed that 3 factors, product characteristics, packaging and price, and recognition affected purchasing behaviours in this sample. As a result of the K-means clustering analysis consumers in this study were divided into 3 groups. The most important factors for consumers in these observed clusters were shelf life, product freshness and product hygiene.
