Since the beginning of virtual communication, actors in the reading ecosystem have explored ways to share their readings; to build conversations or to create community with their peers. Existing literature has predominantly focused its attention on blog platforms and YouTube. To advance knowledge, this article focuses on understanding how, why, and in what way readers, institutions, and companies share, discuss, recommend, or sell books on Instagram and TikTok. This work presents the results of the content analysis of the 37 articles resulting from the framework carried out between January 11 and 15, 2024; The corpus has been expanded with the 66 documents from the systematic review of Sanz-Tejeda y Lluch (2024) carried out between June 1 and 23, 2022. In order to offer a more systematic and precise map, the results are organized around the topics of interest present in most of the research: the relationship of bookstagrammers and titktokers with bloggers and booktubers; the shared content, focusing the results on three relevant aspects: the use of tags, the books promoted and the audiovisual review; the form of the content, answering questions about the images used and the type of feelings they seek to build; the use made by professional and institutional administrators, mainly libraries, publishers and bookstores and the impact that celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon or Emma Watson have on these networks when they promote a book. This research aimed to identify the relationships that the Benedito Leite Public Library maintains with memory, cultural heritage and sociability in São Luís, based on the arguments of users who participate in the educational services of the institution. This is an exploratory and descriptive research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, which made use of systematic observation with a logbook and mixed questionnaires of 10 questions, whose data collection had a sample universe of 62 users who participated in educational services. We point out that, no matter how different the profiles of the users of the Benedito Leite Public Library are, their testimonies converge on the importance of the institution for the preservation of history, memory and heritage. By mediating and disseminating cultural heritage through its educational services, the Library allows the reconstruction of the memory of the citizens of São Luís and the creation of links, made explicit by the symbolic and affective contours between its visitors, users, and professionals. This text reviews the possibilities of reading development from the action of the State and civil society, making a brief review of what has happened in the last thirty years, and then invites reflection on reading in digital formats and the generation of digital readers and on the impact of the pandemic of COVID 19 (March 2020 onwards) in the use of libraries in general and particularly in the use of libraries open to the community in Chile. The ideas with which Manual Selva designed and taught the first library science courses in Argentina (1937-1944) are studied. Two fundamental works by the author are analysed: Manual de bibliotecnia (1939) and Tratado de bibliotecnia (1944). It is interpreted that these publications, together with the courses, were part of a bid to professionalise the librarian activity. We describe the foundations of the proposal, the topics considered central and their context of emergence. It is concluded that the initiative represented a twist in the historical sense of the Argentine library field, by creating a legitimate sequence of contents, founding a work methodology, installing a specialised language and endowing the profession with a social mission that justified it. In this article we study the professionalization and institutionalization of the Argentine library field during the 1930s and 1940s, with special observation of the participation of the Comisión Protectora de Bibliotecas Populares in this process. With this purpose, we address the advances in formative matters tending to the specialization of the discipline, which were accompanied by a public expansion of discussions and arguments about what the library foundations should be, as well as the conceptual scope that belonged to it. In this framework, we allude to the particular intervention of the Comisión Protectora de Bibliotecas Populares in the construction of public discourse on librarians and librarians and the implementation of specific initiatives by the national entity. Specifically, we analyze the Biblioteca del Bibliotecario and the Congreso Nacional de Bibliotecarios as key milestones to understand the insertion of the institutions, the roles of the agents and the dynamics within an incipient Argentine library field. Popular libraries collections in the southwest region of the province of Buenos Aires between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century were the result of the tactics deployed by their boards to obtain bibliographic material in the context of economic precariousness and instability that characterized them in their beginnings. Until the regularization of official organizations and funds destined for library development, the need to invest the resources available in the maintenance of the service prevented entities from carrying out a consistent acquisition policy based on the purchase of texts appropriate to their project. Institutional and the preferences of its readers. In this way, direct donations from individuals, private groups or public organizations became the main sources of supply of printed matter and were configuring the profiles of each bibliographic collection. The “logic of the gift”, driven both by its potential symbolic returns and by the conviction that individual commitment was an unavoidable factor for the construction of the collective, was imposed as a condition for the survival and development of these establishments. Based on the survey and analysis of the internal documentation of six popular libraries of this area founded before 1920 and the press media of their places of origin, in complementarity with the sources generated by the provincial and national state, this paper reconstructs the quantitative evolution of their assets and the role that the bibliographical gifts of the different social actors played in their formation. This article summarizes a research whose objective was to identify and describe the main characteristics of didactic materials, in printed and digital format, designed and published with the support of the local administration in Spain. The research was carried out in three phases: a) review of scholarly studies and professional reflections, b) cataloging and analysis of teaching materials and educational resources developed by the city councils, and c) implementation of a questionnaire to the people responsible for teaching materials in the city councils. The analysis highlights the absence of inventories in the municipalities to identify educational resources, which leads to negligence in the dissemination of educational materials by the local educational administrations. The conclusion is that a more strategic planning in the medium and long term is necessary to preserve the heritage and the appreciation of the local environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The order of books and libraries allows scholars to explore complex aspects of cultural and intellectual history, such as the organization of knowledge, the understanding of reality, and the different ways of classifying information. Taking into account these possibilities, this work analyzes the order of books in the libraries of the Jesuit-Guaraní missions (17th-18th centuries, Paraguay). The sources consulted are the inventories of goods belonging to the missions, produced as a consequence of the Jesuits' expulsion from the Spanish Empire (1767-1768). The hypothesis is that the missionaries organized the libraries by topics according to a hierarchical criterion. The knowledge considered most significant from an epistemological point of view was located at the beginning of the inventories, but likely also in terms of space and accessibility. The remaining contents were situated subsequently in a progressive arrangement. At the same time, this work suggests that the organization was inspired by the Bibliotheca Scriptorum Societatis Iesu, i. e., a corporate bibliographical proposal developed within the Society of Jesus. The formation of informational skills is a concern of the universities in Cuba, because Cuban science has little visibility in the databases, which support scientific articles published in high-impact journals. In this sense, the research aims to propose actions that contribute to the formation of informational skills for the treatment of university documentary heritage in the teachers of the University of Matanzas. The methodology used is based on the collection of bibliographic and documentary information, for the analysis of sources that serve as theoretical support for the investigation. As a result, a group of informational competencies is proposed, which should be worked on, from the library. The contents of the diploma that is offered in the library of the University of Matanzas is also presented, to finish, the results obtained from the diploma implemented in the present year 2023 are exposed. This paper analyzes the practice of photojournalism in Spain and, specifically, focuses on the study of the graphic archive of the EFE Agency (1939-) and its own production, developed within and outside its borders. The acquisition of funds has been taken into consideration as part of this process and, in the same way, it has also been necessary to consider the creation, in the year 2000, of the digital graphic archive: The Photo Library, inheritance of the thematic classification of analog and the nomenclature and, in this process, the documentation system used has been contributed as a result of the conclusions - through primary sources and direct observation - with emphasis on the thematic classification used. The article presents the heritage legacy of Gabriel Guarda Geywitz, a religious man who dedicated himself to heritage research from the fields of history, architecture, and theology. After his death in 2020, he left valuable documents, a library, and personal belongings to the Benedictine Monastery of Las Condes. His research focused on the study of space as a shaper of history, both from an architectural and urban perspective. His personal archive, which includes research, papers, and objects, has been created in the monastery and continues to grow thanks to donations from individuals. [Extracted from the article]

In 2013 the Marrakesh Treaty was agreed to allow the production and distribution of copies in accessible formats for people with difficulties, as well as cross-border sharing. The documentary research technique is used on the origin and implementation of the Marrakesh Treaty and an interview about it with 60 participants of a course on the Development of Collections in Libraries. All of them holding management positions in libraries in Spain, Guatemala, Mexico and El Salvador, countries in which said Treaty has been ratified. In May 2017, a political agreement was reached that opened the door to the ratification of the Marrakesh Treaty. In September 2021, it was ratified in 79 countries, but without achieving the desired success in its implementation. From the interview, deficiencies have been identified to avoid and proposals to be executed to achieve the expected impact. The objectives of the Treaty will not be achieved only with the modification of national laws, it is necessary the exchange of experiences on the part of the people who have dedicated years of work in this common good worldwide. In the actual evolving technology landscape, the concept of Industry 4.0 has gained significant attention in various sectors. Industry 4.0, also known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, refers to the integration of advanced digital technologies, which have had a profound impact on diverse industries, and libraries are no exception. Those days when libraries were solely repositories of physical books and magazines are now far away. Actually, libraries have become dynamic information centers that harness the power of technology to provide a wide range of services to their users. The introduction of digital resources and online databases has revolutionized the way libraries provide access to information. With the availability of e-books, e-magazines, and online databases, users can access a wide range of resources from the comfort of their own homes. This not only broadens access to information, but also removes physical space constraints and limited opening hours. In addition, digital resources can be easily updated and shared, which ensures that users have access to the most up-to-date information, but has also led to the digital divide becoming larger. This essay aims to introduce Industry 4.0 in libraries, exploring its definition, key technologies and principles. In addition, he will discuss the application of Industry 4.0 in libraries, highlighting the integration of automation, internet of things and artificial intelligence in library processes and services. However, despite the benefits that Industrial Revolution 4.0 brings, libraries also face several challenges in bridging the digital divide. In the context of the configuration of the state apparatus of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, the formation of a specific official agency to protect popular libraries in the region meant the emergence and medium-term affirmation of libraries as social issue in the public agenda of the government. The present work aims to examine the brief existence of this Commission of Protection and Promotion created in 1910 from its composition, its actions and its insertion in the provincial bureaucratic structure, and focusing on the limitations that acted as barriers to its development. Thus, it is shown that the combination of scarce resources, jurisdictional conflicts, an incipient development of library knowledge and the resistance of the libraries themselves, were the factors that led to its dissolution in 1913. Although the relationship between libraries and citizenship has been widely studied, there is a gap in the production of knowledge around the link between libraries and global citizenship. The present work contributes to bridge that gap by presenting the results of an investigation that sought to understand how two rural libraries in Colombia, through their reading, writing and orality practices, contribute to the construction of global citizenship. The study was based on a research approach that favors dialogue and the collective construction of knowledge. The results allowed to identify that both libraries build global citizenship by promoting its three fundamental pillars: respect for diversity, solidarity, and a shared sense of humanity. This research analyzes the role of libraries in the socio-educational reintegration of adolescents deprived from freedom in four Latin American countries: Chile, Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico. The qualitative methodological approach is used, and semistructured interviews are applied to the representatives of the selected institutions. Through a content analysis, the role and position of libraries in organizations that work with adolescents deprived from freedom are studied. In addition, the importance of interdisciplinary work is studied and specific roles and functions of libraries for the insertion and social empowerment of young people are disclosed. The following reflection is the result of recent research, through which the transition from the sound archive to the digital multimedia archive is observed as a contemporary phenomenon that is placed in the digital ecosystem. The article is introduced with the etymological origin and evolution of the notion of archive. The evolution of this term as a result of the technological evolution of the last century is presented and its relationship with the emergence and evolution of sound archives is presented. The conceptual differences between the notions of library and digital archive are then established. It analyses the changes to which the sound archive has been subjected in recent decades and how they have impacted on the notion of the document and the transition from digital sound archiving to multimedia. The preservation of radio heritage is in a complex and challenging situation because it is necessary to digitize, before the end of this decade, the largest amount of content recorded on magnetic tapes to preserve it from irreversible deterioration. And at the same time it is essential to implement preservation measures for digital content whose decentralized hosting and lack of systematic preservation are threatening its conservation. These actions are framed in a context of fascination for the incorporation of artificial intelligence technologies for the recovery and treatment of documents as well as for the creation of sound contents. The purpose of this article is to report and raise awareness about the risk of loss of radio heritage and to motivate safeguarding actions because that in the era of intelligent algorithms, this heritage can be reused for the benefit of society.
