Worker cooperatives in Argentina experienced an important boom at the beginning of the 21st century in response to the economic and social crises that affected the country. This situation entailed a restructuring of social and employment policies that emphasized work as a means of social inclusion. The aim of this article is to describe and characterize the type of labor insertion that worker cooperatives propose to their members in terms of income, formalization, benefits, and labor guarantees and the ways in which they organize production and time. The findings are presented of a descriptive study, based on the application of surveys and semi-structured interviews with members of 27 worker cooperatives in the Greater Santa Fe agglomerate, located in the Argentine pampas. The study, carried out between 2019 and 2020, recognizes the possibility of labor insertion offered by cooperatives to many people who have been excluded from the formal labor market and even of becoming a space for support, meeting, and training for members and associates. However, it describes nearly generalized situations of labor precariousness among people working in cooperatives, shaped by the lack of social protections and adequate economic regulation for associative and self-managed organizations. The research objective of the present study is to contrast two crises of different nature, the subprime crisis of 2008, and the health crisis of 2020, and its consequences on employment in twenty-four economies in Latin America and the Caribbean. The methodological design is based on a data panel with fixed effects considering the period from 2005 to 2021. Data is extracted from the World Bank. The explanatory variables are GDP, inflation, foreign direct investment, and the coverage of work and social protection programs. After realizing the tests of Breusch Pagan, Hausman, Wooldridge and Wald, an econometric model of Panel Corrected Standard Errors with fixed effects and dichotomous variables is implemented, to describe the effect of time. It was found that both periods, 2008 and 2020, were significant. Moreover, a greater impact on the increase in unemployment because of the health crisis 2020 is confirmed due to the decrease in production and the precariousness of the labour market in the area. Social assistance as a general form of social protection must be differentiated from social assistance as a specific power exercised by Spain’s autonomous regions through the Social Security System. In addition, the exercise of regional powers in the area of social assistance is affected by other State powers, such as those recognised in Art. 149.1.1 of the Spanish Constitution (CE in Spanish) on the basic conditions that guarantee equal exercise of constitutional rights and in Art. 149.1.13 CE on the bases and coordination of general economic planning; or the State power regarding public expenditure. The latter, although not strictly a specific power, enables the State to use its funds for any purpose. Likewise, certain constitutional precepts, such as that contained in Art. 139.1 CE, can have an impact on the exercise of the autonomous communities’ powers in the area of social assistance, which could imply a substantive limitation on their exercise. The objective of the article is to understand the experience of Argentina and Brazil in terms of social protection; specifically, social assistance and the maintenance of income and employment of formal workers during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021). The research was based on a multiple-case design that included various analysis techniques and sources of information—both qualitative and quantitative. The results of the article show that, in Argentina, a protection strategy towards formal workers prevailed over social assistance policies; and, in Brazil, social assistance policies stood out, within the framework of deregulatory strategies for formal work. Social protection policies with a gender focus aim to raise the level of response to conditions of exclusion or economic and natural events. However, in not all cases men and women take equal advantage of the set of public benefits inherent to welfare schemes. The article examines the place that the territory occupies within the areas that produce we ll-being and its possible effects on women with a low rate of inclusion in the labor market. For this endeavor, the current socioeconomic context in Santiago de Cuba is taken as a reference, in order to offer specific keys towards strengthening the social protection architecture in Cuba. This review seeks to analyze the development and Contribution to the Guarantee of the Principle of Equity within Social Protection in the rural regions of the Colombian Caribbean within the framework of the contextualization of the health situation and the experiences of the area, in order to resemble the possible causes that affect health in these rural populations, relating the socioeconomic situation they present, evidencing the importance of the system which must involve a health model that improves opportunity, accessibility and timely social protection. Objective: Analyze the development and contribution to the Guarantee of the Principle of Equity within Social Protection in the rural regions of the Colombian Caribbean in 2021. This research conducts an epistemological analysis of the procedures that assist Colombians in obtaining social protection in healthcare from a formative perspective. To achieve this, a qualitative documentary research methodology was applied, involving the analysis of laws, texts, and jurisprudence. The deductive method with a hermeneutic approach was employed, relying on observation and techniques such as bibliographic cards, conceptual maps, and synoptic tables to enhance comprehension of the topic. The obtained results reveal the necessity of developing an epistemological conceptual construction of the usage and practice of a special procedural right for healthcare social protection. This arises from the fact that administrative procedures and judicial processes before ordinary or administrative contentious jurisdiction judges are excessively slow. Only the Action of Tutela has demonstrated efficiency in safeguarding these rights, thanks to its swift process that combines two traditional views of procedural law: efficiency and humanization of law. The aim of this article is to argue how unpaid labor predominantly carried out by women constitutes the core of the welfare system in Argentina. To support this proposition, a review of the modalities and variations within the country's social protection system will be conducted. Subsequently, empirical data will be analyzed to estimate the significance of unpaid labor the economy. Cross-cutting contributions from a gender perspective will be added to discuss how this work disproportionately falls on women, recognizing that it is intentionally rendered invisible. Unpaid labor is pivotal to the organization of society, with its invisibility serving as a mechanism of domination. Introduction : despite advances in gender equity, gaps persist in Colombia in relation to social protection and few studies in this regard include the gender perspective. In order to know how social protection policies are related to gender equity policies, the normative framework on social protection for women in Colombia between 1990 and 2014 was analyzed through a documentary research, with 17 policy documents on gender equity and social protection. Results : gender equity policies implicitly contain social protection measures in which two objectives converge. One is to promote women's economic autonomy; the other is to reduce poverty through two channels: on the one hand, the labor market -generally independent-, and on the other hand, State assistance programs, especially those of a "family-oriented" nature. Social protection laws, for their part, include neither content nor a gender approach; in them, the social risk management approach prevails, in which women are recognized on the basis of their status as "workers" or "subjects of assistance". Conclusion : the normative framework of social protection for women in Colombia proposes measures that "commodify" welfare, with some measures that "de-familiarize" it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article examines inequality in income distribution in Argentina between 2014 and 2020 in a context of stagnation and economic crisis, which coincided with the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The determining factors of income distribution were analyzed based on a household survey, and a breakdown of the Gini coefficient was implemented to determine the factors that explained the increase in inequality. From a structuralist point of view, the retraction of formal employment, the expansion of the informal sector, and greater coverage of social protection policies were the central factors that explained the increased level of inequality at that time. The principles of the Social Protection Floors Recommendation, 2012 (No. 202) of the International Labor Organization (ILO), are related to the Venezuelan reality in order to analyze its application in a context of loss of opportunities and wealth easy that has not been put an end to. The regulatory framework is evaluated and is qualified as incapable of reversing the situation in an informal labor market and with dissolved representation structures. The case is presented in Judgment T 218 of 2022, of the Constitutional Court, based on the formulation of a problem question on the subject inquiring about the deficit of legal instruments in the Colombian State so that transgender people can access to the reaffirmation of gender, due to the existence of the fundamental rights of the Political Constitution to the free development of the personality, the fundamental right to health and the fundamental right to human dignity. Correspondingly, the study uses the conformal interpretation method, which is specialized in legal matters that review compliance with human rights. Indeed, the Court's call to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to issue a clinical practice guideline that guarantees comprehensive health care for transgender people, such as blocking puberty through hormonal treatments.
