Abstract

Social protection policies with a gender focus aim to raise the level of response to conditions of exclusion or economic and natural events. However, in not all cases men and women take equal advantage of the set of public benefits inherent to welfare schemes. The article examines the place that the territory occupies within the areas that produce we ll-being and its possible effects on women with a low rate of inclusion in the labor market. For this endeavor, the current socioeconomic context in Santiago de Cuba is taken as a reference, in order to offer specific keys towards strengthening the social protection architecture in Cuba. To this end, the main scenarios that can operate as threats to the pillars of equity are analyzed, while some considerations for their intervention are offered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
