Chemical thermodynamics is crucial in chemistry because it provides a theoretical basis for understanding the transfer and transformation of energy and matter in chemical processes. Concepts such as energy, work, heat, entropy and enthalpy are essential in molecular biology, engineering and other scientific disciplines. However, the teaching of thermodynamics faces significant challenges due to its abstract nature and mathematical requirements, which diminishes student interest. A perceived disconnect between thermodynamic principles and their practical applications may cause students to consider it irrelevant. In addition, traditional methodologies can negatively affect understanding, while information and communication technologies (ICTs) can make it more attractive. According to surveys, the main problem in teaching thermodynamics is low student interest due to the abstraction of concepts. Teachers can improve understanding by applying innovative methodologies such as ICTs and connecting principles with practical applications. Encouraging critical thinking and problem solving can also improve the understanding and relevance of chemical thermodynamics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
