El Área de Letras del Centro de Investigaciones de la Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades (CIFFyH) inicia la publicación de la revista RECIAL. Un espacio dedicado a la difusión de estudios sobre la lengua, la literatura, los discursos sociales y sus múltiples problemas teóricos-metodológicos.Abierta a recibir el aporte de todo investigador en estos dominios, y de amplio alcance en su soporte digital, RECIAL constituye un gesto de apuesta en varios sentidos: a la investigación académica, a la pluralidad de ideas, al intercambio de saberes, en definitiva, al desarrollo del conocimiento en las áreas disciplinares involucradas.En un entramado difícil de discernir, se entremezclan en las razones que nos mueven a la creación de RECIAL, las necesidades impuestas por nuestra realidad inmediata de investigadores universitariosy la profunda interpelación que genera la complejidad creciente de los campos disciplinarios.En efecto: en lingüística, el desplazamiento de la frase al texto que lleva a destacar el concepto de comunicación y las situaciones concretas de habla y a su vez, el viraje de los estudios literarios hacia la relación del texto con el ámbito social y su consecuente desclausuramiento para integrarse a la red de discursos sociales, ha complejizado los dominios de conocimiento y genera la necesidad de nuevos estudios, de otras lecturas y abre múltiples debates.En esta línea, RECIAL busca contribuir al devenir de la reflexión teórica actual, orientada a una expansión de los límites tradicionales de áreas específicas, a un descentramiento de los objetos de estudio, al intercambio y articulación de saberes con otras disciplinas, en especial, con la filosofía, el psicoanálisis, la sociología, la antropología. Enriquecida con estos aportes, la especulación teórica en los dominios de la lingüística, los discursos y la literatura ha conseguido importantes avances y, paralelamente, ha suscitado numerosas polémicas tanto en el aspecto metodológico como epistemológico. Aunque también, sobre los grados de formalización teóricaen los estudios, el uso de metalenguaje y los saberes de moda, el sustrato ideológico-político que actualiza determinada teoría, su lugar de procedencia y la pertinencia de aplicación al objeto de estudio en cuestión.En el caso de la investigación académica en literatura subyace además un problema previo. Si la lingüística goza de modo más firme del reconocimiento del estatuto científico de sus estudios, sobre la investigación literaria se cierne todavía una sombra de sospecha. El maridaje arte-ciencia, la posibilidad de acceder a un conocimiento con base científica de la creación literaria es impugnado desde algunos sectores. Sin embargo, alegamos, que un conjunto de saberes teóricos proporcionan a los investigadores herramientas conceptuales operativas no sólo para describir sino también para llegar a proporcionar una interpretación fundada de las obras literarias. El hecho artístico, por su carácter único, individual, histórico, no predecible, ni repetible ni cuantificable, impone una manera distinta de conocimiento que el de un objeto que responde fatalmente a leyes, dadas ciertas condiciones. Su singularidad no impide el conocimiento de su modo de construcción o los efectos de sentido que su autor, consciente o inconscientemente, pone en marcha en el enunciado. Si el sentido de una obra estética es inagotable, cabe la posibilidad de acceder a una “verdad posible”, una verdad parcial e inestable, sin garantías, ni verificación, pero sostenida en procesos racionales y principios teóricos. Arte y ciencia no son un binomio paradojal, no hay ilusión científica en los estudios, sino una articulación productiva quegenera nuevas travesías de lecturas, inusitadas iluminaciones del enunciado y el arribo a una propuesta de lectura fundada y coherente del planteo del autor en la obra.El sentido múltiple, a veces ambiguo, que pone en funcionamiento un acto de comunicación humana, y en especial el de registro estético, provoca un modo de conocimiento particular donde es central la operación de interpretación, concepto que, inquietante desde el concepto tradicional de ciencia, la investigación académica asume como desafío y RECIAL, se suma para aportar.

The journal Praxis Pedagógica was founded in 1998 and published its inaugural issue in January 1999. In this first issue, the editorial team of Praxis Pedagógica embarked on a series of significant endeavors and commitments with the communities they would engage with. In its first year, the journal released two issues, which served as a forum for contributions from our initial authors. Their respective contributions finely delineated the scientific, epistemological, methodological, theoretical, and didactic horizons of Praxis Pedagógica. These elements continue to represent an indelible hallmark of the journal's identity.

Well known to students of St. Thomas Aquinas is that he maintained that the whole of a science is contained in its principles and that its principles are contained in its definitions. The author takes as his point of departure for this article a definition of money that he gave in the article he wrote for the 2019 Aquinas School of Leadership’s School of Economics inaugural issue for the Studia Gilsoniana: “Aristotle and Aquinas on the Virtue of Money as a Preservative of Justice in Business Affairs and States.” According to him, as a species of economic activity, the definition of money must contain what Aquinas considered to be his generic definition of the science of economics and the essential principles he thought this definition contains. The present article he writes is an attempt to unpack some implications contained in St. Thomas’s generic definition of the science of economics of which money is a species.

This edition of Studia Gilsoniana inaugurates submission of articles on economic science based upon pre-modern principles of philosophy/science. Today, many journals address the intersection of economics and philosophy. Their contributors include practicing economists, economic historians, economist-philosophers, philosopher-economists, and economic methodologists. Research in this interdisciplinary field began to appear in the 1970s and later took shape in the 1980s with the appearance of its specialized academic journals. Today, the intersection of economics and philosophy is a vibrant area of inquiry and research. Books and journal pages are replete with references to classical philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle and their contributions to economic science. However, stronger connections need to be made related to the application of economic principles from the past to the present based upon enduring pre-modern principles of science. This is precisely what this inaugural issue celebrates.

The editorial team is very pleased to present the inaugural issue of TheoLogica: “Meta-philosophy of Religion and Meta-Theology”.

With this first issue of Higher Learning Research Communications (HLRC), Universidad Andrés Bello in Chile, Universidad Europea de Madrid in Spain, Istanbul Bilgi University in Turkey and Walden University in the United States, in consonance with their mission, are sponsoring collaboratively a journal dedicated to higher learning in the international arena. The knowledge driven society that so clearly marks our era, where real time communications make the phrase “global world” a true feature of our lives, has changed the means through which we learn. The rapid expansion of multicultural environments and the influence of the fast changing techno-scientific advances, social networking, information power engines and individual multitask capabilities compels us to educate more people at a superior level. However, although teaching will always be a relevant means in education, the paths to learning have evolved notoriously. The binomial teaching and learning demand increased attention to understand the powerful variety of ways to get information, expertise in understanding that the decodification of the learned knowledge involves comprehension of the needed skills, and assurance that the assessment warrants certification of the expected outcomes. HLRC deals with these challenges and has appropriated them to define its scope. Under the auspices of these four universities we are proud to pioneer a collaborative and inclusive endeavor that goes well beyond the institutions and expands across continents. The Senior Consulting Editors and members of the Editorial Advisory Board have been carefully selected for their dedication and experience in the areas of education and higher learning. HLRC also benefits from the Laureate International Universities’ network of over 55 institutions in 28 countries, leveraging the internationality and expertise of academic leaders across the globe. We are very proud and thankful for their participation and commitment to this enterprise. As a scientific, peer-reviewed journal, HLRC aims to advance knowledge on all aspects concerning teaching and learning in higher education by fostering collaboration between innovative minds. We believe this inaugural issue presents examples of good practice in international higher learning and offers forward thinking in educational leadership for a global world. As an introduction, on the invited essay, Sir Drummond Bone provides an overview of internationalization since 2008 to the present. Other articles included on this issue illustrate our mission to provide a better understanding of institutional policy and actual practice across education disciplines. Velasco Quintana and Benito Capa (Universidad Europea de Madrid, Spain) explore the role of peer-mentorship in the development of competences for both mentors and mentees, presented in the context of Mathematics. Morales (Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland) introduces a case study of corporate finance students to investigate the use of clickers as a tool to support, encourage and motivate critical thinking in higher education students. Bemposta Rosende, García García and Escribano Otero (Universidad Europea de Madrid, Spain) examine blended-learning to identify how the new teaching environments influence teaching activities and learning processes. Goh (Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, Australia) looks at fieldtrips as a means to enhance students’ educational experience in Tourism and Hospitality education. And finally, Stocklin (Les Roches Jin Jian International Hotel Management College, China) investigates the relationship between integration and capacity building so educational leaders can develop the performance of individual faculty members and establish synergies to achieve high performance. Welcome to the first issue of HLRC! This journal fulfills a vision of collaboration we hope will prompt inclusive discussions while exploring the global nature of higher learning leadership and challenges.

Introduction to volume 1 and to the inaugural issue of New Proposals

Founded in 1946 on the eve of independence, Marg was the first Indian magazine to address modern architecture and town planning. As well as surveying classical and contemporary Indian art, architecture, crafts, dance, and photography it reported on contemporary foreign art and architecture, especially that of the United States and Europe. Frank Lloyd Wright and Richard Neutra appear in its pages alongside Le Corbusier and Erich Mendelsohn. This paper focuses on the actors involved in the founding of the groundbreaking magazine – from cultural figures such as Mulk Raj Anand and Homi Bhabha to the architects of the Modern Architectural Research Group (marg) including Otto Koenigsberger and Minnette De Silva. It discusses the defense of modern architecture as the only appropriate style for an independent India published in the magazine’s inaugural issue in 1946 and examines the dominant role Le Corbusier played and the way the planning position for which he stood was presented in Marg between 1949 and 1961, that is before and during his involvement in designing the new Punjabi state capital of Chandigarh. In addition, the paper analyses Indian architectural projects by both foreign and native architects published in Marg and argues that Marg’s enthusiastic support of modern European and American architecture is a prominent example of the way in which during this period urban postcolonial intellectuals supported modern architecture in order to distinguish themselves from the former colonial power, who was seen as having less adventurous taste. In the case of Marg, this occurred within the context of comprehensive and proud coverage of the subcontinent’s indigenous art, which, however, in the case of architecture (unlike other media, such as dance), the editors viewed as no longer belonging to a living tradition upon which contemporaries should draw.
