Este trabalho é um relato de experiências obtidas no ano de 2019 durante a execução do projeto “Eficiência Energética na Escola” com uma turma do Segundo Ano do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola localizada em Bagé, Rio Grande do Sul. As ações extensionistas foram promovidas por discentes, docentes e técnicos-administrativos em Educação, vinculados ao Curso de Graduação em Engenharia de Energia da Universidade Federal do Pampa, Campus Bagé. O projeto almejou sensibilizar educandos da Rede de Educação Básica para a concretização de uma cultura voltada ao uso eficiente de energia elétrica. Sob a colaboração dos professores responsáveis pelas turmas, as atividades propostas contemplavam apresentações, discussões, jogos e demonstrações práticas em sala de aula sobre a temática de eficiência e conservação energéticas, e sobre eletricidade aplicada. Este trabalho detalha os procedimentos realizados e as estratégias de ensino-aprendizagem adotadas, como métodos tutoriais, estudos dirigidos em pequenos grupos e práticas pedagógicas gamificadas. Os resultados são discutidos e detalham principalmente as mudanças de hábitos para um uso mais racional da energia elétrica observadas durante e após a execução das ações extensionistas. Essas ações estimulam o interesse pelo Ensino Superior no ambiente escolar; aprimoram a rede de colaboração entre Universidade e escolas; e apoiam a Rede de Educação Básica. Com isso, fomenta-se a divulgação científica e tecnológica, demonstrando o papel e a importância da Universidade para o desenvolvimento local e regional. Palavras-chave: Eficiência energética; Escola; Engenharia de Energia; Educação Básica Promoting conscious and sustainable consumption of electric energy through a university extension project for elementary education Abstract: This paper aims to report the experience from the project named “Energy Efficiency in the School” with seven-year-old students in a Second Grade classroom in a school located in Bagé, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. In 2019, university extension activities were promoted by students, professors, and technical-administrative employees who work in the education field at the Undergraduate Degree in Energy Engineering at the Federal University of Pampa, Bagé Campus. The project goal is to sensitize Basic Education students to build a culture based on the efficient use of electric energy. In cooperation with the classroom teachers, the proposed activities embrace presentations, discussions, games, and in-class practical demonstrations on energy efficiency and conservation, as well as applied electricity. This paper details the procedures performed by the project team and the learning strategies used in the classroom, such as the tutorial, small-group, and game-based learning techniques. Results are discussed, emphasizing the lifestyle changes for the efficient use of electric energy verified during and after the university extension activities were carried out. This project motivates elementary school students to pursue Higher Education; enhances the collaboration between University and schools; and supports the Basic Education. Thereby, scientific and technological knowledge is disseminated, demonstrating the role played by the University in the local and regional development. Introduction and aims of the study: The aim of this study is to present recent reports on the treatment and therapy of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (ChAD). The current treatment of patients affected by these diseases is difficult and unsatisfactory, therefore it is necessary to find new therapeutic options that will improve the effectiveness of treatment For the purpose of this study, scientific papers were reviewed using the Google Scholar search engine covering studies from 2016 to 2021. A dozen papers covering the scope of the publication were selected. Results: In the treatment of schizophrenia, the use of cannabinoids is of greatest interest due to the action of the preparations on the endocannabinoid system. In the treatment of ChaD, promising reports have been published on the therapy with aripiprazole and the need to improve its use in the treatment of both akathisia and agitation. Furthermore, from the fact that abnormalities of calcium signalling are considered a possible pathophysiological process in ChAD, it has been suggested that calcium channel L antagonists may be potential therapeutic agents in bipolar affective disorder. One study also demonstrated the potential use of vortioxetine in the treatment of patients with a depressive episode. Conclusions: The results of recent studies on the treatment of schizophrenia and ChAD cited in this paper offer the prospect of creating treatment regimens that are more effective and targeted in the aforementioned diseases. However, further randomised trials are needed to confirm the effective use of the cited drugs in the treatment of these diseases.

The physiotherapy process in children is specific and requires much more patience and understanding than in adults. Working with a child is not only related to the physiotherapy of a small patient, but also in a very good cooperation between the parent-physiotherapist. The paper presents selected issues of children's therapy in the light of research papers published in renowned scientific journals dealing with medical issues.

Introduction: Bladder cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. There are two forms of bladder cancer: non-muscle invasive bladder cancer and muscle invasive bladder cancer. A common treatment method for non- muscle invasive bladder cancer is intravesical BCG (Mycobaterium bovis) therapy after radical tumor resection. It is estimated that half of patients will have an insufficient response to BCG treatment. Patients using this type of therapy also report side effects more and more often. Aim of the study: The aim of this article is to discuss the latest discoveries in the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer when BCG therapy is insufficient. Material and Methods: The paper was created based on the PubMed and Scholar database. The literature was reviewed using the key words: „bladder cancer”; „BCG”; „treatment”; „side effects”; „novel therapies”. Results: The research shows that novel therapies are effective and safe compared to the use of BCG. In such patients, atezolizumab, metformin or intravesical magnesium sulfate infusions may be used as an alternative. An innovative solution is the use of HIVEC - heated chemotherapy administered intravesically. There are also drugs that potentiate the action of BCG, making the therapy more effective. These include: sasanlimab and rapamycin. Due to the side effects experienced by patients, the use of intravesical BCG is often replaced with intravesical infusions of chemotherapy drugs. Conclusion: The research shows that novel therapies are effective compared to the use of BCG. Unfortunately, more research is needed to standardize the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.

Introduction Ashwagandha, a traditional Indian plant, is gaining increasive attention from scientists worldwide due to its potential health benefits, especially in the context of its antibacterial and anticancer properties. Aim of the study The aim of this review was to discuss recent findings regarding the impact of Withania Somnifera on antibacterial effect and its potential applications in anticancer therapy. Materials and methods: The paper was created based on the Pubmed and Google Scholar database. The literature was reviewed using the keywards: ,,Ashwagandha”, ,,Withania Somnifera”, ,,antibacterial ”, ,,anticancer”, ,,side effects”, ,,breats cancer”. Results Studies have confirmed Withania Somnifera, exhibits significant anticacterial and anticancer effects. It inhibits the growth of both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Futhermore, it demonstrates anticancer activity, especially in breast cancer, by stimulating apoptosis, induction of cytotoxic effects on cancerous cells and increasing cell sensitivity to radiation. Conclusion Despite promising results, futher research on the benefits of Ashwagandha, particulary in the long term, is essential. There is growing need of more research of the potencial benefits of Ashwagandha in the treatment of various disorders including cancer and bacterial infections and to develop more effective therapeutic strategies. The need for large randomized studies comparing long term clinical effectiveness is emphasized

Introduction: In the last few years, obesity has become a central issue with more than 2.6 billion people worldwide being overweight or obese. While the risks associated with this condition and its rising significance are widely known, the effect of this attention on screening and treatment remains unsatisfying. This paper explores multiple treatment strategies and evaluates their effectiveness in preventing obesity-related complications. Review methods: We conducted our study as a literature review, with data being gathered via PubMed and Embase. The state of knowledge: Physical activity, behavioral therapy, and proper nutrition remain the foundation for obesity therapy. However, in many cases these approaches are insufficient. Recently, there has been a dynamic development of bariatric surgery, which in comparison to lifestyle modification, results in better long-term effects and improved quality of life. New surgery procedures, such as sleeve gastrectomy and adjustable gastric banding, have shown to be one of the most effective, but they carry a risk of complications. Conclusions: Growing treatment options allow doctors to choose more targeted strategies, based on the patient’s risk factors, overall health status, and compliance. Improvements in surgery, especially laparoscopic techniques have opened new possibilities for patients with morbid obesity.

Introduction and purpose: Citrus bergamia, commonly known as bergamot, is a unique plant native to the Calabria region in Italy, prized for its fragrant fruits and versatile applications. Historically utilized for extracting essential oil, bergamot has garnered attention for its therapeutic properties, particularly its Bergamot-derived Polyphenolic Fraction (BPF), which exhibits lipid-lowering, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive summary of existing research on the therapeutic potential of BPF in humans. Brief description of the state of knowledge: BPF has shown promise in supporting wound healing, alleviating neuropathic pain, and exhibiting antimicrobial properties. Research highlights BPF's role in modulating lipid metabolism, particularly in reducing LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing HDL cholesterol levels. Additionally, BPF demonstrates anti-inflammatory effects, accelerating the recovery process in conditions such as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and potentially influencing pathways involved in cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis. Further studies explore BPF's impact on bone metabolism, erectile dysfunction, and its potential in dermatological applications, particularly in counteracting photoaging. Conclusions: While existing studies underscore the promising therapeutic effects of BPF in various medical domains, further research is warranted to establish its efficacy and safety for broader clinical use. Continued investigation on a larger scale holds the potential to develop BPF as a valuable physiotherapeutic strategy across diverse medical fields.

Finger flexor pulley injuries are the most common overuse injuries sustained by climbers. These injuries are caused by forceful gripping techniques specific to climbing, making them uncommon in non-climbing activities. With the growing popularity of climbing, there is a rising need for accurate diagnosis and improved treatment methods. This paper explores current diagnostic techniques, including physical examination, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging. It also discusses treatment options, which range from conservative rehabilitation to surgery, depending on the severity of the injury. Finally, it emphasizes the importance of injury prevention through proper warm-up and avoiding excessive strain.

Introduction and purpose: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disease in the female reproductive age. As treatment guidelines include lifestyle changes, various diet types are being evaluated in terms of efficacy among them ketogenic diet (KD) which was also assessed in terms of its influence on another ovarian related disease - ovarian cancer. The aim of this paper is an analysis of the available scientific data in respect of the role of the KD as a part of the therapy of ovarian related disorders. The search was conducted using PubMed and Google Scholarship databases. Brief description of the state of knowledge: Ketogenic diet demonstrates favorable effects in the hormonal profile of PCOS-affected women. It was also noticed that its administration results in the reduction of BMI and the improvement in glycemic parameters. Most of the research was conducted by linking the ketogenic diet with the caloric restriction. In the matter of ovarian cancer the results are unclear; some of the research states the improvement of the quality of life of the participants, but there is some alarming data of the possible role of KD in enhancing the tumor growth. Conclusions: Ketogenic diet merits further research as a possible factor in the treatment of PCOS as foregoing results are pointing to its efficacy. Nevertheless, still more data is needed to determine its role as studies were conducted within a short period of time with relatively small research groups. There are also other limitations such as the lack of comparison with other dietary patterns with the caloric deficit which makes it difficult to deduce the main profitable factor. When it comes to ovarian cancer the results of the current data are also unclear and unambiguous with the possible negative effects.

Introduction and purpose: Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), also known as Osler-Weber-Rendu syndrome, is a rare and complex vascular disorder characterized by abnormal blood vessel formation. It can present significant challenges in diagnosis and management, as it is currently estimated up to 90% of those affected are never diagnosed. Despite its rarity, HHT can carry substantial implications for patients and their families, at times requiring comprehensive medical care and support. This paper aims to provide an in-depth exploration of HHT, encompassing its epidemiology, genetics, clinical manifestations, diagnostic approaches, and current management strategies. Moreover, we hope to point out possible areas in need of future research. Description of the state knowledge: HHT is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder that affects 1 in 5-10,000 people. Its most prominent symptoms include telangiectasia of skin and mucous membranes, recurrent epistaxis, gastrointestinal bleeding and arteriovenous malformations in vital organs. In the vast majority of cases, it is caused by a mutation in one of the following genes: ENG, ACVRL1, SMAD4; however, mutations in other genes have been described to cause a similar or much the same constellation of symptoms. Treatment options are focused on managing symptoms and improving quality of life, but possible new treatment options are being researched that could change the landscape of HHT management. Summary: HHT is a severely underdiagnosed disease that has seen a surge of researchers’ interest in recent years. We firmly believe that, combined with plummeting costs of genetic testing and possible new treatment options, means that HHT will become increasingly important in physicians’ everyday practice.

Introduction Vegetarianism is an eating pattern centred on plant-based food. It encompasses many diets that differ in terms of whether they contain goods originating from animals, like milk and eggs. Nowadays, vegetarianism is increasing in popularity in developed nations, particularly in Europe. Individuals choose vegetarian diets for reasons related to health, ethics, or ecology. The rising popularity of vegetarian diets is not limited to adults but is also increasing among children. Aim of the study Vegetarian diets are generally considered to be beneficial for health. However, there are concerns over the ability to meet the dietary requirements necessary during infancy, youth, and adolescence on a vegetarian diet. Therefore, the primary aim of this systematic review is to answer questions about the efficacy of a plant-based diet in meeting the nutritional requirements of children and how to avoid the risk of nutritional deficiencies among vegetarian children. Material and methods Article provides an overview of the current literature about the vegetarian diet in children. The information has been collected from a comprehensive search of electronic databases, scientific journals, and statement papers published by nutrition and paediatric organisations. Results Following a vegetarian diet can be a beneficial decision for all children, assuming that it is properly organised and well balanced. The majority of paediatric and nutrition organisations do not recommend more strict diets for children, such as a vegan diet, which fully excludes not only meat but all animal products.

The general aim of this research study is to detect needs and possible areas of improvement in the Basque education system. To this end, this paper describes and compares the discourses of different informants, using a qualitative methodology based on a census sample of secondary schools and students in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country (ACBC). Although our research is located in a specific geographical and cultural context, the detailed contextualisation of the study may shed light on an international level and may be transferable to other contexts that come close to the characteristics described in this article. Thus, a total of 18 secondary schools from the ACBC were selected in accordance with their effectiveness level, calculated on the basis of the results obtained in the Diagnostic Assessments (DAs) across five years. Likewise, professionals involved in the study (18 inspectors, 18 management teams, and 50 educational agents) identified certain priority areas, such as teaching-learning methods, promoting diversity, fostering an evaluative culture and leadership, resource provision, stability of the teaching staff, relationships with families, and optimisation of constructive conflict resolution. This research can help to carry out other research on other education systems based on the dimensions analysed in this article, as they have been found to be a priority for educational agents.

IntroductionThe nurse provides medical care for the patient, including nursing, administering medicines and performing injections. She assists the doctor in the process of diagnosis and treatment. The definition of this profession changes as a result of the development of science and increasing expectations of health care. The development of this profession is evidenced by developed models of nursing, which will focus on the practical application of the acquired knowledge.Aim The aim of this work was to present the tasks and competences of nursing and the role of this profession in improving the quality of patient care.Material and methodThe paper uses the method of literature analysis. The material used in the paper comes from publications published in a compact form and scientific articles.ResultsThe review of the collected scientific material showed that nurses have a significant impact on the quality of health care and the functioning of the entire facility. Healthcare institutions belong to organizations in which the quality of services translates into the patient's health and life. Care should therefore be a priority for the entire staff, especially for the nurses who first meet the patient and spend a lot of time with him. Patients expect medical knowledge from nurses first and foremost, but also safety, trust and proper communication.ConclusionsIn recent years, nursing has been constantly changing, which means that people in this profession have to take various actions for their development. Patient expectations are also changing. Their opinion and satisfaction is important for success. A satisfied patient will surely use the services of the facility again.

This paper aims to analyze the process of recognition and validation of prior learning, a public policy measure meant for the low schooling adults in Portugal. This analysis is the result of a qualitative research based on semi-structured interviews with professionals responsible for implementing the process and on biographical interviews with adults certified through this process. The empirical data collected allowed us to identify some elements of innovation in the process of recognition and validation of prior learning in Portugal. This paper analyzes two elements of innovation: on the one hand, the use of the biographical method and life histories; and, on the other hand, the monitoring provided by the advisor and teachers, recognition and validation. In our point of view, the identified elements of innovation contribute so that the process of recognition and validation of prior learning, oriented, from the political point of view, increases the educational qualification of adults, presents a training potential in the adults involved.

This paper assesses the dangers of the use of the concept ‘culture’ in present political and educational rhetoric. The first section offers a critique of the use of the term ‘culture’ in the so-called intercultural educational efforts. It asserts that ‘culture’ in its present use is a proxy for ‘race’ and supports views, which ignore diversity and suggest, purposely or not, an homogeneity which can easily spread into the sphere of biological resemblances and differences. The paper, then, identifies possible alternative understandings of culture through the examination of the contribution of anthropology to cultural research. In the last section of the paper suggestions are made to overcome current approaches to intercultural education through a call to diversify the understanding of diversity to include not only ethnic/cultural differences but also, physical, and cognitive ones. To achieve this goal a turn to the ontological and the training of teachers as ‘critical experts of design’ is suggested.

The purpose of this paper is to emphasize the importance of «inculturation» in the religious images drawn by Monica Liu (Ho-Pei), a unique artist who promoted Religious Art and Education in Taiwan. Monica Liu adopted Western Christianity into Chinese art to create paintings that reflect her love for nature as well as Our Lady who is deeply venerated in the Catholic Church and regarded as the mother of humanity. This paper is a qualitative research based on an interview conducted with Huang Wan-Yun, a protégée of Monica Liu who had a very close relationship with the latter during the last ten years of her life. This research is also based on some writings that Monica left behind and several articles written about her by acquaintances. The culture and faith expressed by Monica Liu through Our Lady’s images help us to deeply understand the value and relationship between religious art and faith. In addressing the needs of the secular world, religious art has encountered difficulties in terms of contemporary aesthetics. Monica’s distinct aesthetic considered «moral virtues» important to modern or contemporary art and their absence could result in distorted values. Therefore, true mission work in the field of religious art has to be close to everyone’s heart, as well as emphasize the importance of inculturation through natural representations and create awareness of taboo in art, which involves «additional and supplementary» elements in original artworks.

Athletic operates on the basis of a particular system of knowledge that has in its contentthe theoretical and methodological foundations of sport training (Rashiti N, Nika F, Bekolli L, Heta G.) 2017. El artículo muestra, a partir del análisis de libros de texto de educación musical para la enseñanza primaria, los valores, estereotipos, esquemas mentales y significados que se transmiten en el curriculum no siempre de un modo consciente o regulado. El objetivo es analizar qué modelos culturales se transmiten, cuáles son los espacios de silencio, qué ausencias y por el contrario qué presencias son reforzadas y transmitidas con el uso de estos materiales curriculares. El artículo consta, en primer lugar de una introducción al estado de este campo de investigación mostrando la relevancia y oportunidad de esta problematización del currículum. Se trata de una investigación de carácter cualitativo que usa el análisis del contenido y del discurso como herramientas metodológicas. Posteriormente se exponen los resultados de la categoría Representaciones Culturales organizados en las subcategorías siguientes: género, mirada eurocéntrica, culturas y tradiciones populares y relación con el entorno. El análisis de los libros de texto nos alerta sobre el dominio de la hegemonía cultural androcéntrica y la reproducción de miradas eurocéntricas que no han superado el colonialismo y el patriarcado, tratando las culturas minorizadas y populares propias del entorno de los niños y las niñas desde el exotismo y el distanciamiento. Se concluye señalando la relevancia de este tipo de investigaciones para comprender los efectos culturales implícitos en la presentación del currículum en los materiales de uso en las aulas. /// The research paper shows, from the analysis of the musical education textbooks for primary education, the values, stereotypes, mental schemes and meanings that are transmitted in the curriculum not always in a conscious or regulated way. The objective is to analyse what cultural models are transmitted, what are the spaces of silence, what absences and on the contrary what presences are reinforced and transmitted with the use of these curricular materials. The article consists, first of all, of an introduction to the state of this field of research showing the relevance and opportunity of this problematization of the curriculum. It is a qualitative research that uses content and discourse analysis as methodological tools. Secondly, the results of the category Cultural Representations are presented. This category is organized in the following subcategories: gender, Eurocentric gaze, popular cultures and traditions and relationship with the environment. The analysis of textbooks alerts us to the dominance of androcentric cultural hegemony and the reproduction of Eurocentric views that have not overcome colonialism and patriarchy, making a distant an exotic treatment of minority cultures and popular cultures closers to children's environment. This paper concludes with the relevance of this type of research to understand the cultural effects implicit in the presentation of the curriculum in the materials used in the classroom.

Este artículo se centra en el análisis de un proceso co-diseño de prácticas educativas abiertas (PEA) para el desarrollo de competencias transversales en el contexto de una universidad a distancia. A través de la participación activa de profesoras, estudiantes e investigadora, se pretende facilitar el diseño curricular de prácticas educativas abiertas, que favorezca el desarrollo de competencias transversales por parte de los estudiantes. El estudio se enmarca en una investigación más amplia que aplica el modelo de investigación basada en el diseño (IBD). Concretamente en este artículo se aborda el análisis de la fase de diseño, con un enfoque eminentemente cualitativo, utilizando como instrumentos la observación participante y el análisis de los productos realizados por los participantes en el proceso de co-diseño. El estudio se propone responder las siguientes preguntas: ¿Cómo se lleva a cabo y qué aporta el método de co-diseño al diseño de PEA para el desarrollo de competencias transversales? ¿Qué tipo de contribuciones realizan y qué rol asumen los distintos participantes en el proceso de co-diseño? Los resultados reflejan la dinámica del proceso de co-diseño, el tipo de contribuciones y roles asumidos por cada participante y el aporte efectivo del método de co-diseño para el diseño de PEA, considerando por una parte el grado de comprensión e incorporación de los conceptos fundamentales en los escenarios diseñados y por otra, la utilidad de los instrumentos de diseño utilizados. /// This paper focuses on the analysis of a co-design process of open educational practices (OEP) for the development of transversal competences in a distance university. Through the active participation of teachers, students and researchers, the aim is to facilitate the curricular design of OEP, which favors the development of students’ transversal competences. The study is part of a broader research that applies the model of design-based research (DBR). Specifically, this paper deals with the analysis of the design phase, with a qualitative approach, by using participant observation and the analysis of the design products elaborated in the co-design process. The study aims to answer the following research questions: How is the co-design method carried out and how does it contribute to the design of OEP for the development of transversal competences? What kind of contributions do participants make and what role do they assume in the co-design process? The results reflect the dynamics of the co-design process, the type of contributions and roles assumed by each participant and the effective contribution of the co-design method for the design of the PEA, considering on one hand the degree of understanding and incorporation of the relevant concepts in the designed scenarios and, secondly, the usefulness of the design instruments used.

In the European Space of Higher Education, the cultural features of the millennials, the development of technology and the shift in the understanding of the students’ learning process, have played a vital role in the development and evolution of gamification-based teaching practices. Gamification is related to the development of skills, motivation and commitment of students. The aim of this paper is to provide evidence of the benefits of gamification in the training itinerary of Business Administration students. To this end, two different experiences have been selected, based on the skills students train and the added value that these skills may provide. In the first case, this paper presents empirical evidence of the improvement on the final grade of students who have participated in the gamification experience. The benefits of the second experience are diverse and reach students, universities and companies. The success of both experiences is linked to their adaptation to the cultural traits of the millennials, whose learning process is conditioned by technology and by other features identified in literature. The second experience responds to the necessary collaboration between university and business, as well as the generation of networks.

This paper reflects upon the possibilities the public university in Brazil offers to promote actions for the consolidation of an area of emergent studies and practices called Early Childhood Education in Rural Areas (ECERA). The objective here is to discuss experiences in the light of Teaching and Research in the realms of the Federal University of Campina Grande (Universidade Federal de Campina Grande – UFCG), which, via professors-researchers, has contributed for the construction of knowledge and for the strengthening of practices directed to the mentioned area since 2010. The paper also enlightens advancements and situations the University needs to solve in order to consolidate the commitment for knowledge construction and for social transformation. To do so, historical aspects related to the organization of the ECERA are discussed and action regarding ECERA is taken, mainly involving Teaching and Research at UFCG. It is already possible to foresee the presence of ECERA in Teaching and Research carried out especially at Unidade Acadêmica de Educação (UAEd) [Academic Unit of Education], associated with Centro de Humanidades (CH) [Humanities Centre] of UFCG. However, some other actions must be taken in order to reinforce the ongoing action and to advance in different directions relevant to the university, just like the Extension.

Introduction and purpose of paper: The aim of this paper was to present diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties in management of sinonasal tumors, which are extremely rare. First symptoms are not specific, that is why patients usually present with advanced tumors at the moment of diagnosis. Optimal treatment depends upon extent or stage of disease. State of knowledge: Tumors of nose cavity and paranasal sinuses affecting less than 1 in 100 000 people per year. They are result of abnormal proliferation of variety of structures in the nose. Tumors in sinonasal region grow slowly and may invade local structures, for example the skull base, orbit, or brain. Symptoms of tumors of this region are not specific. This is reason why they are often misdiagnosed by the doctors. Proper detection and diagnostic examination require histopathology examination and imaging test such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Due to type and stage of tumor, the treatment options are surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, used separate or in combination. Summary: Nasal cavity and paranasal sinus tumors are rare, with a wide spectrum of histological differentiation. The accurate diagnosis of tumor plays a significant role influencing the therapeutic conduct and prognosis.

This paper weaves problematizations about the universalization and obligation of education of Brazilian children since four years old. Using the genealogy of Michel Foucault with the analytical tool of problematization, this study is dedicated to understand how some historical facts could be conditions of possibility to the constitution of an educated childhood in the Modernity. As an analytical element, this paper takes the legal apparatus that formalizes the obligation of school enrollment of children, together with their permanence. Besides that, there are excerpts of the magazine Pátio Educação Infantil, making evident the relationships of power and knowledge that are produced and that also put in operation a determined governmental logic, problematizing the way people assume them as true nowadays.

This article presents a literature review on the longitudinal approach research methodology used in education researches in Brazil. It was considered as necessary to identify studies with such methodology, since this perspective is not commonly used in education researches in Brazil. The following repositories were used: Scielo, the CAPES scientific journals Bank and the CAPES Thesis and Dissertation Bank. For the papers selection, the following descriptors were used: "longitudinal studies", "longitudinal study", "Brazil" and "education". Twenty papers, published between 2000 and 2017, were selected for an in-depth analysis with the purpose of describing these studies characteristics and possibilities presented with this research methodology. Finally, we propose using the School Census data, collected by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Researches Anísio Teixeira (INEP) to conduct researches with a longitudinal approach in education.

This paper offers a historical and genetic answer of the educational supervision in Spain, from its origins in the 19th century to the present. The school supervision, necessary function and essential organism of a contemporary educational system, can only be explained from the socioeducational context it serves, from the great laws of education that define the educational policy of a country, to its concretion in the school culture of a educational establishment. At the same time, this paper think over historically on the construction of the profession of supervisor, from its training, the associative articulation, the link to the scientific production in pedagogy or sciences of education, publications and magazines of their associations or the body of supervisors. Finally, some of the challenges facing school inspection at the beginning of the 21st century are presented.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer occurring in the female population. Early diagnosis and appropriately implemented treatment results in high curability. The method of choice is surgery, depending on the extent of the changes, a radical method is used, consisting in complete removal of the mammary gland, or sparing. Additional, complementary methods of treatment are radiation, chemotherapy and hormone therapy. Surgery involves interference with tissue continuity and hence scarring. During the procedure, mechanical long pectoral nerve injury may also occur. The paper presents an example of a case study using kinesiotaping as a complementary method of rehabilitation of women after mastectomy with long pectoral nerve damage. The impact of higher education institutions on society has become the focus of significant policy attention in recent years, most prominently as part of research evaluation. This paper presents a theoretical exploration of the notion, identifying the key dimensions as source, form, trajectory, intensity, timescale and destination. While acknowledging the importance of porosity between universities and society, and the need to address critical contemporary challenges, five dangers of the impact agenda are highlighted: the normative dimension; the linear relationship; unpredictability; measurement; and instrumentalization. As a response to dominant conceptualizations, the paper proposes the notion of the generative intrinsic as a more robust basis on which to base the work of universities. O impacto das instituições de ensino superior na sociedade tem se tornado o foco de atenção política significativa nos últimos anos, mais proeminentemente como parte da avaliação da pesquisa. Este artigo apresenta uma exploração teórica da categoria noção, identificando as dimensões-chave como fonte, forma, trajetória, intensidade, escala de tempo e destino. Embora reconhecendo a importância da porosidade entre as universidades e a sociedade, e a necessidade de abordar desafios contemporâneos críticos, cinco perigos da agenda de impacto são destacados: a dimensão normativa; o relacionamento linear; imprevisibilidade; medição; e instrumentalização. Como resposta às conceituações dominantes, o artigo propõe a noção do intrínseco generativo como uma base mais robusta sobre a qual basear o trabalho das universidades.

This paper tackles the issue of image, with an emphasis on personal image (personal PR). Image was selected as the focal point of this article as, according to the author, it is an indispensable element of media life and functioning in the society. There are numerous definitions of image in both Polish and foreign literature. In his or her definition, each author attempts to incorporate the aspects most important to the world of business and its actors. This paper is centered on distinguishing between such concepts as image, reputation and identity, as well as portrays the evolution of image in time and growing social awareness of the notion, and presents the methodology of building image. This study aims to determine the image of Renata Małgorzata Mauer-Różańsk as it is presented in the national press. The articles referencing the former Olympian analyzed herein were sourced from three nationwide dailies: Fakt, Gazeta Wyborcza and Super Express. The entire material collected and analyses allow to conclude that Renata Małgorzata Mauer-Różańska has a moderately positive image. On the one hand, she is viewed as an authority figure and a walking icon and, on the other, as a person who is withdrawn, afraid to step out of her comfort zone and avoids social media, as well as industry events.

Kinesiology taping, called in Poland more and more often dynamic plastering is a method with a very wide application. More and more often this method is noticed among patients. Currently, many studies have been conducted, in which the effectiveness of therapy with the use of tapes for kinesiology taping has been proven. What is more, no harmful effects of this form of therapy have been found. In addition, there is more and more research showing the effectiveness of cathodiology taping as a form of supporting the effects of the main therapy. The paper was written on the basis of review articles and research papers presented in reputable Polish magazines dealing with physiotherapy.

Breast cancer is a disease most often affecting women in the modern world and a huge challenge for modern medicine. "Breast cancer is not a sentence" - such statement is presented by one of the authors of the book position used in this paper. However, considering statistical data, every tenth woman asks herself whether this statement is true due to the highest percentage of cases of this disease among females. There may be many reasons for this situation, but one should also look at them in the lack of awareness of women about breast cancer prevention. Preventive actions are of considerable importance. They allow real recognition of the problem and implementation of activities aimed at reducing the risk of disease. Undoubtedly, some people are not aware of the seriousness of this situation, and the second part wonders what the reason for such a high percentage of cases is. The answer is simple - women do not perform self-examination of breasts, do not participate in preventive examinations and report to the doctor when the cancer process is already advanced. Aim of this paper The aim of this paper was to evaluate knowledge and activities for oncological prevention of women invited for mammography screening as part of the "Population program for early detection of breast cancer". Material and methods The study covered 105 randomly selected women in rural and urban areas of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship aged 50-69 covered by the "Population program for the early detection of breast cancer. The research was conducted in the period from 09/01/2017 to 10/31/2017. The author's questionnaire consisting of 32 questions was used for the research. The research was voluntary and anonymous.For the purpose of this work, the following tests were used for questions on nominal scales for verification of hypotheses: V Kramer (2x3 tables, 4x5 etc.), Phi (2x2 tables) - these are symmetric measures based on chi-square test informing about the strength of dependencies between variables in cross tables. In order to disseminate the findings and recommendations from their studies, researchers publish papers in scientific journals in their subject area. Research communities thus emerge as a result of the communication between authors who cite other relevant papers. This study focuses on the relationships between Spanish and English research communities in the specific field of Educational Technology. We explore as hypotheses whether there are signs of scientific journal communication between authors in these two communities, and if the English authors reciprocate citations by Spanish authors. In order to verify them, a social network analysis was conducted by considering outgoing and incoming citations in eight open access journals (four in English and four in Spanish) published over ten years (2007-2016). The sample includes 3,407 articles, which were analysed using UCINET and Gephi software. The results show partial confirmation of the hypotheses, since two separate research communities were recognized, with almost no communication between them. However, the Spanish community was presented as more connected than the English one. We interpret these results by considering not only language factors, but also the journal roots and the particular subject field under consideration. Finally, we highlight some general recommendations to enhance future communication between these two education research communities.

Introduction and and purpose of paper: The aim of this paper was to present modern methods of treatment for endometriosis. Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition of women that is characterized by the implementation of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. It affects 7 to 15% of menstruating women, and 35 to 50% of women treated for infertility. State of knowledge: Diagnosis of endometriosis is made on the basis of well-collected gynecological history, clinical examinations and imaging techniques. The golden standard for diagnostics is laparoscopy with subsequent histological examination of the material collected during the procedure. Among the methods of treatment in women with endometriosis, pharmacological and surgical treatment is applied. The pharmacological agents most commonly used in endometriosis are: combined hormonal contraceptives, progestins and anti-progestins, GnRH agonists and antagonists, aromatase inhibitors, Danazol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Pharmacological treatment is only symptomatic, not cytoreductive, therefore, to remove endometriosis lesions, surgery should be performed. There are two ways to perform surgery: laparotomy and laparoscopy. Surgical treatment of endometriosis may be associated with local excision of lesions and sometimes even removal of the entire organ. Treatment should be conducted in consultation with the patient and her wishes. Conservative treatment is most commonly used among women of reproductive age. Summary: The pharmaceutical or surgical treatment require an individual approach and deliberated informed consent of patient. Pharmacological treatment is only symptomatic, not cytoreductive, therefore, to remove endometriosis lesions, surgery should be performed.

Physiotherapy section - physicotherapy successfully applies frequent cryotherapy treatments in many different diseases. The paper presents a review of the literature on the basis of review papers as well as research papers from reputable scientific journals, which have been published over the last few years.

This reflective paper discusses how the micro-community strategy, including families, scouts and ecclesial communities, becomes relevant for shaping peacebuilding agents. The paper draws upon a historical-hermeneutic research paradigm with a qualitative methodology and a documentary strategy. The findings show that the family micro-community helps develop individuals by teaching them ways to solve conflicts and assigning them roles. The education and training provided by the scouts, relying on constructivism, teamwork and the distribution of responsibilities, produce supportive individuals. In the case of lay communities, it can be seen that these micro-communities contribute to ethical judgement, the adoption of healthy customs, and in relation to character formation, through tough love, they produce autonomous and responsible individuals. In conclusion, micro-communities help educate for peace and conflict resolution, since they allow individuals to be proactive and forward-thinking change agents that promote the mutual wellbeing of their members.

This paper discusses the role of the discipline “Medical and Biological Physics” in the area of medical education as a component of educational work upon the negative impact of smoking on human health. Some Ukrainian legislative acts for regulation of tobacco smoking are emphasized. Statistical data of tobacco smoking in Ukraine are shown. The problem of smoking, the use of electronic cigarettes and their effects on human health are intensively studied in the research of Ukrainian and foreign authors, but the description of negative smoking impact is not presented from the point of view of physical processes. Therefore, it became necessary to illustrate the most important problems from the point of view of medical physics The latest medical data allows including in the educational process on the discipline “medical and biological physics” some information about the negative effects of smoking on processes and phenomena in the human body, interpreting them from a physical point of view. The medical and biological orientation of the discipline is shown. The paper illustrates examples from this topic with the description of physical phenomena and physical regularities which explain the results of tobacco smoking. They are applied in educational process of the Biological Physics and Medical Informatics Department at the Higher State Educational Establishment of Ukraine “Bukovinian State Medical University”. The most important examples in studying tobacco influence on human health are discussed in the lessons on: “Ultrasound, its application in treatment and diagnostics”, “Fluid mechanics. Viscosity of liquids”, “Liquids surface tension”, “Thermal radiation of biological objects”, “Radioactivity. Dosimetry” The relationship between clinical subjects and medical and biological physics is shown.

This paper explores my on-going collaborative research journey that began in 2009 with a critical ethnographic investigation into the ways one early years school in Bristol was working to advance a pedagogy of respect that drew on the multilingual and multiliterate out of school practices of children and their parents in order to open possibilities for in-school learning. The project was framed within a critical ethnographic approach that is underpinned by a philosophy of democratic and collaborative ways of working within the field; acknowledging identities, positionalities and relations of power as constructed within and across institutional settings. In this paper, I present the collaborative learning trajectories and relationships between myself, as researcher, and Lara, the Head Teacher, a key participant within this project. I situate this within a critical reading of researcher identities, collaboration and research-community partnerships within a scholarship that draws on arguments for the democratizing of knowledge production, the re-evaluation and transformation of field relationships through reflexive practice (Byrd-Clark & Dervin, 2014; Facer & Enright, 2016; Giampapa, 2011) and the intellectual and emotional commitment involved in shaping them. What evolved through this unfinished critical ethnographic journey is an understanding of the underlying «practical, personal and symbolic» reasons (Facer & Enright, 2016, p. 59) for field relationships as a starting point in order to build deeper forms of engagement. These deeper forms of engagement generate different ways of knowing that are co-created, ethically grounded, socially responsible and action oriented (Campbell & Lassiter, 2010). I stress the transformative power of these field conversations that were able to evolve and shape new ways of understanding as a result of the longevity of being in the field and working beyond it.
