This article discusses human rights - and their relationship with struggles between social classes - linked to the satisfaction of human needs, through qualitative research with a bibliographical focus. The contradictions that permeate capitalism and are inseparable from it drive the reflection presented in this text on human rights, highlighting the advances and setbacks pertinent to power struggles between classes. Assuming that the bourgeois state has conservative power hegemony and prioritizes the interests of capital, articulating the antagonistic relationship between classes through dynamics of repression and coercion, social policies are an instrument of containment to minimize the barbarity intrinsic to capitalism. Human Rights are relative and are not naturally granted, so it is the tensions between social classes that forge contexts of expansion and permanence with repercussions on the role of the state regarding the legislation of each society in the so-called modern and democratic era. This essay aims to present, analyse and problematise the way in which Latin American intellectuals, linked to critical social theories, explain the role and meanings of the football spectacle in capitalist societies. To this end, it has been organised into three parts. In the first part, I analysed the moral condemnation of football, showing that some authors see this sport as an essentially alienated activity and others only condemn its spectacularisation, proposing that it be reformed. In the second part, I analysed the (supposed) ideological functions of football, problematising the arguments that this sport necessarily legitimizes capitalism, conceals its contradictions, unifies the oppressed and the pressured, fragments the working class and reifies social relations. This investigation analyzes the curricular losses on the subject of biology caused by current educational reforms, consolidated in the package composed of the National Common Curricular Base, New Secondary Education and the National Common Base for the Initial Training of Basic Education Teachers. In facing this crisis, we seek theoretical support from Historical-Critical Pedagogy, the concept of powerful knowledge and fundamental ideas. The methodological assumptions, in turn, are based on descriptive qualitative research with an emphasis on dialectical and historical materialism, as it allows for the necessary analyzes and deepening, given the imposed complexity. Therefore, we seek to propose a biology curriculum that respects the disciplinary and epistemological specificities of this school subject, that fosters powerful knowledge, and guarantees the right to access objective knowledge by students in public schools. It is understood that only a curriculum that provides this access is capable of guaranteeing educational equity for all students, regardless of their social classes. In this context, the fundamental ideas of biology are used as methodological and constructive propositions of essential content for a curriculum that provides students with their intellectual emancipation. It is concluded that contemporary educational reforms deepen educational and social inequality. Meanwhile, the biology curricular proposal presented points to this decrease, contributing to the understanding of the world and overcoming the commonsense present in the phenomenal appearance of students' daily lives. Objective: to evaluate the factors associated with vaginal infection in women living with the human immunodeficiency virus. Methods: This is a descriptive-exploratory, cross-sectional study of quantitative approach. The study was carried out at the Specialized Assistance Service/Testing and Reception Center (SAE/CTA). For data collection, a structured questionnaire consisting of three blocks with sociodemographic, clinical, sexual and reproductive questions was used. Results: The study sample consisted of 90 women. The age group over 39 years was the most affected (35.6%); educatior background corresponding to complete primary school was predominant (38.9%). Regarding sexual and reproductive issues after the treatment of women living with HIV, the results showed that 54.4% of women do not habitually use a condom during sexual intercourse. Most women living with HIV do not have vaginal discharge, being 56.62% of the interviewed women, it can also be observed that the presence of pruritus, vaginal irritation and white lumpy discharge (suggestive of candidiasis) was the second highest index, corresponding to 17.8% of the women interviewed. Conclusion: In this sense, it was evident that there are several factors associated with vaginal infections in women living with HIV, such as low income, low education, few or no gynecological consultations and access to health education, these being determining factors in health that they must be work to promote the population's quality of life. Objective: To understand the intersectionality of masculinities and incarceration in relation to the involvement of Sexually Transmitted Infections in men in prison. Methods: A qualitative study was carried out with 30 adult men in prison in Bahia, Brazil. An individual interview was conducted, guided by a semi-structured script. Discourse analysis was used and interpretation was based on the theoretical-political framework of intersectionality. From the data, two discursive frequency sequences, seven discursive formations and an explanatory model were derived. Results: Given the gender order towards the construction of the masculinities of black/brown, peripheral, cisgender and heterosexual men who experience incarceration, intercrossed with the other socio-identity markers that influence sexually transmitted infections such as race/skin color, social class, gender/sexuality, schooling/learning, age/generation, they made explicit contexts of health vulnerabilities: neglect, violence, exclusion, machismo, oppression, risk, transmission, infections, unhealthiness, confinement, which intersect and bottle up, causing overlaps and invisibilities with each other. The critique of the political economy of the city, urbanization, and space compels us to understand that urbanization is characterized by a process that delineates, defines, and expands economic, social, and political activities. These activities create, alter, recreate, and transform everyday life; they produce wealth that is unequally distributed across space and society. This wealth, generated by labor, is accessed by different fractions of the social classes that constitute capitalism based on their ability to pay, thereby mediated by money, another crucial analytical category for unveiling the dynamics of political economy. The Covid-19 pandemic quickly spread around the world. Governments adopted measures of restriction and social distancing in order to contain the spread of the virus and thus avoid overloading health systems, where such measures were not taken, or were taken partially, which resulted in greater circulation of the virus. This study aims to analyse the spatialization of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the different neighbourhoods of the city of Três Lagoas-MS according to their socio-economic characteristics. Data notified and reported by the Três Lagoas Municipal Health Department (SMS) was tabulated and organized. Data for the year 2020 (05/2020 to 01/2021) was chosen, referring to positive cases, deaths and incidence on a neighborhood scale. In order to understand and explain this spatialization, we tried to crossreference the data provided by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), with regard to demographics by neighbourhood, nominal monthly income per capita and situation by color or race. By spatializing the incidence rate, it was possible to see the neighbourhoods where the incidence rates were highest. By cross-referencing the income and race data, it was possible to see that the virus first hit the neighborhoods where the higher social classes live and then spread more widely. In this way, it was possible to see that the characteristics of the territory define the spread of the virus in space and that the urban territorial organization ends up creating spatial inequalities and consequently having repercussions on the less favored social groups in the expansion of Covid-19. The article examines the new political-ideological face of sugarcane plantation owners in the Northeastern sugarcane region, encompassing the three main producing states of the region: Alagoas, Pernambuco, and Paraíba. The central argument is that this traditional segment of the ruling classes has undergone significant changes in the past two decades, resulting in an expansion of its internal composition and its accommodation to the dynamics of agribusiness. Consequently, they have crafted a new rhetoric of legitimation, grounded in the defense of sugarcane monoculture as an agro-social business, drawing on concepts such as sustainability and socio-environmental responsibility. The limitations and contradictions of this discourse are scrutinized in the context of class conflicts and the economic and ideological dimensions contained therein, which explain why sugarcane plantation owners, through their representative bodies, seek social legitimacy for the full exercise of their activities. This article has a social semiotic and proprioceptive assumption. From the social semiotic point of view, people’s communication practice consists of resignifying languages, rather than creating them originally. At the same time, there is a maldistribution of language resources motivated by unequal power relations between people and social classes. Therefore, groups with scarce resources tend to reproduce communicational practices with the most available resources and which are shared by more people. The resignification and reproduction of resources make communicational practices become habits. From the proprioceptive point of view, habits come from attitudes formed by muscles, caused by power relations between people and the world. Therefore, this article presents as a thesis that a communicational practice of reframing, when becoming a habit, can itself become a language. This is a theoretical development article, based on bibliographical research, which seeks a synthesis between two theories. The objective is to propose a method to analyze the embodied multimodality. The article systematizes how communicational practices become habits and proposes a method for analyzing these practices. Based on this method, it presents an analysis of the language of anti-democratic demonstrators after the Brazilian elections in 2022. The result points to a language of denial of the body, the world and life, which emerges from the habits of resignification incorporated by the demonstrators, whose discourse is based on religious idealism, and militarism is a consequence of it. This research aimed to compare the quality of life (QOL) of candidates for bariatric surgery across different levels of physical activity (PA) and socioeconomic levels (SES). A cross-sectional study was conducted with 62 patients who were candidates for bariatric surgery (age= 39.53± 10.72 years and BMI= 50.05± 9.26 kg/m) and were interviewed using the IPAQ, SF-36, and ABEP questionnaires. Comparisons of QOL between the PA and SES groups were conducted using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The moderate PA group showed significantly higher scores than the Low group in the Functional Capacity domain (61.1± 25.0 vs. 40.8±23.2; p= 0.01). The Physical Aspects domain had a significantly higher score for the high PA group in comparison to the Low group (65.4±36.1 vs. 35.8±35.8; p= 0.029). Individuals with SES level B presented significantly higher scores than the SES level C group in the Functional Capacity domain (62.9±30.2 vs 46.6±23.9; p= 0.028), General Health status (48.9± 14.9 vs 33.4± 16.6; p= 0.001), Vitality (62.4± 26.4 vs. 43.8± 21.6; p= 0.007), Social Aspects (79.4± 29.3 vs. 61.1± 32.5; p= 0.04), Emotional Aspects (78.4± 35.2 vs. 45.9± 44.6; p= 0.01), and Mental Health (77.4± 21.2 vs. 60.4± 24.2; p= 0.008). This research demonstrated that individuals with morbid obesity who are candidates for bariatric surgery and have higher levels of physical activity and a higher socioeconomic level exhibit greater levels of quality of life. This article presents a study on cases of renunciation of criminal representation by women in situations of intimate partner violence in a Specialized Police Station for Assistance to Women in Brazil. Based on participant observation of police response to complaints and interviews with women who resigned, practices of applying unconditionality to criminal representation in cases of physical violence and two groups of resignation actions, called strategies and dilemmas, were identified. The works The Flipside of skin (2020) and The kiss on the wall (2013), by the black writer Jeferson Tenório, point to the reality of women who daily live with the convergence of stereotypes forms, oppression and violence that permeate them. This paper will cover black and white poor citizens, considering that in the second work there is no mention of the skin color of some characters, thus being able to perceive that in addition to the racial issue, there is also the social class problematic in which they are inserted, which will put them in a situation of marginalization regardless of their race. Therefore, this study aims to introduce, based on theoretical basis and analysis, the condition of women in contemporary Brazilian society, the issues that permeate black women in narratives in Porto Alegre, such as abuse, harassment and other forms of violence and relationship between gender and class also in this space, demonstrating the condition of black and non-black peripheral women. Following this challenge, we present the condition of women in contemporary society, as well as the intersections of class and race that affect the way in which they are represented. We also seek to point out the violence and stereotypes that black women experience. For this purpose, the research carried out was of a basic, bibliographic, descriptive and qualitative nature based on the reading of Davis (2016), Gonzales (2020), hooks (2019), Kilomba (2019), Saffioti (2015), among others. This article presents a study that aims to comprehend the affiliation to university life. This study utilizes a cultural semiotic psychology perspective theoretical framework. This framework focuses on analyzing human beings developmental trajectories and meaning-making processes. The data were collected at the end of 2021 through semi-structured interviews. The process of data analysis applies the method of elaboration of thematic categories. As the main results of this study, it has been found that the university context could catalyze the sensation of nonbelonging. From this point of view, the university could reproduce prejudices and discrimination of gender, race, social class, and sexual orientation. In this sense, the study discusses that experience in university life contains a considerable affective aspect that the student experiments in an affective semiotic dimension. Finally, the study concludes with the necessity of more research related to the affiliation of university life, especially in postgraduate students, to contribute to public policies to support university students and their psychic suffering. Given the chronicity of HIV infection, psychosocial factors emerge as potentiators for the elevation of stress levels in PLHIV, as well as for the immunological imbalance and elevation of the viral load. The present research objective was to evaluate the stress level, TCD4+ lymphocyte count and viral load of people living with HIV undergoing ART, treated at a public university hospital. This was an observational, cross-sectional research with 25 patients (40.76 years ± 9.88 years) living with HIV treated at the outpatient clinic of a public hospital in Rio de Janeiro. A sociodemographic questionnaire was used to characterise the sample. Stress was evaluated through the LIPP Stress Symptom Inventory and observed in recent laboratory tests. Stress was identified in 68% of the participants, with a predominance of physical symptoms and a resistance phase. There was a higher prevalence of stress in people with low socioeconomic status, unemployment and recent diagnosis. Lower levels of CD4+ T lymphocytes or higher viral load were not observed in people with stress. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article investigates the quota system. Considered by many to be a public policy that works in theory differently from practice, others consider it an important tool for social inclusion. Data collection was carried out through the application of a questionnaire and the analysis was performed with the percentage of responses from the participating teachers' opinions. The results indicated that teachers see the quota system as an instrument of social inclusion. Therefore, the conclusion was that this public policy is further discussed and expanded, demonstrating a path of possibilities and advances allowing the democratization of education for citizens from different social classes, places, and scenarios. From the peasant logic, part of the settlers in the Andradina Region produce beyond their needs; consequently, they transform part of the production into merchandise, in order to buy what they do not produce. By guaranteeing, through their daily struggle, the social existence in the land of work, the settled peasants generate virtuous dynamics, with the supply of food and the circulation of income on the local scale being all too significant. In this context, the paper analyzes the results of the implementation of rural settlements, either by the demand for goods and services, or by the participation and changes in local power relations. In the light of the theoretical framework, which understands the existence of the Brazilian agrarian question and considers the peasantry as a social class, the investigation was carried out in the methodological path of dialogue with theory, articulating it with data obtained in the countryside and in the city; oral sources and in loco information have guided the analysis of the development of rural settlements beyond the countryside. Therefore, the impulse given by the settlers to the demands for agricultural products, goods and services, and others, is evidence of the benefits that the democratization of land brings to the city as well. Themes related to cyberspace have been gaining more relevance in contemporaneity. Youth appears as the protagonist of this process, promoting and producing new cultural expressions in this universe. Among them, we highlight the fanfictions, narratives virtually built by and for fans. This study aims to identify, from the perspective of Epistemologies of the South, how colonialism, patriarchy and capitalism manifest themselves in fanfictions. A qualitative documentary research was made, with reading and analysis of three narratives published in online platforms. We observed the presence of the power structures: patriarchy, expressed by scenes of objectification and violence against women; colonialism, visualized by the presence of only white characters; and capitalism, through the prominence of the lifestyle of the dominant social classes. The practice of suicide currently affects all social strata in all parts of the world, regardless of age, sex, color, race, ethnicity, creed, religion, social class or financial condition. There are many reasons why people commit suicide. When the act is consummated, the family members face a marathon of psychological suffering of all kinds, due to the pain of losing the loved one. The research was carried out through searches on PubMed, Scielo Brasil and Google Scholar websites with the descriptors suicide and psychological impacts in articles in Portuguese and English. Twenty-seven academic works with relevant information contained in this work were selected and works with a publication period of more than five years were excluded, except works that contained relevant and temporal information. The factors for committing suicide are noted within the family, usually after family members suffer from the loss of their loved ones and for various reasons. From then on, the feeling of loss, revolt, despair, anguish and anger is established among people, causing different emotions. In this way, this work aimed to analyze the issues inherent to the particularities that involve the suffering of the bereaved family, to seek understandings about the causes that lead people to commit suicide, in addition to emphasizing the role of the psychologist in promoting actions that can alleviate the suffering. of the family. Objective: To analyze the employability of nurses trained on campus in the interior of Brazil. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out with 144 graduates from four classes of a nursing course in the city of Floriano, Piauí. Data collection was carried out in the second half of 2016, via Google Forms. Socioeconomic variables related to employability and the degree of satisfaction with the profession were investigated. Results: 61 people participated in the study and the employability rate around 75%. The main field of professional activity was in hospital care. Among the reasons for unemployment, the lack of public examinations (33%) and the low job offer in the region (25%) prevailed. Conclusion: The findings allowed us to understand the difficulties faced by graduates about insertion in the labor market, highlighting the importance of professional qualification and the encouragement to expand skills and competencies in the field of nursing. The present text intends to analyze the theory of the legal-criminal interest and the supposed neutrality with regard to the value judgment made by the legislator on the interests of the human person and the collectivity. In a capitalist environment, the choice of legislator tends to reflect the interests of certain hegemonic social classes. The general objective is to critically appreciate this factor, using arguments from Critical Criminology and specific questions from Political Science. The article seeks to open new investigative paths aimed at bringing Criminal Law closer to Political Science (and not only to Philosophy of Politics). New studies can collect concrete data from the Brazilian political scenario and, with that, examine the production of legal-criminal norms in relation to different perspectives: influence of actors with veto power, impacting issues of coalition presidentialism, etc. To build an interdisciplinary knowledge, the dialogical method was used. As a result, this research showed that the official discourse translates into the notions of equality and general protection, but legislative practice demonstrates that there is not always equanimity in the selection of (legal) interests. This text is about an extension project that consists of storytelling on radio. By understanding the scope of radio and how it contemplates various spheres of society, even moving between social classes, the presence of Storytelling at Rádio Excelsior Recôncavo FM has been configured as an fruitful project. In this work, we initially presente the importance of the extension Project as something politically constitutive of the university essence, within a exit perspective. Parallel to this, we situate the radio as a place/bridge between the university and society within one of the oldest cultural practices of humanity, which is Storytelling. Violence against women, with more predominance in the domestic environment, is a historical problem of the patriarchal culture of female subordination, which demands continuous efforts from the governmental structure and organized civil society to monitor the effectiveness of legal mechanisms, in addition to promoting the efficiency of the network. care for the victims of this serious social problem. The study sought to present cases of violence against women that had repercussions; the legal provision of the main legal devices that deal with the prevention and criminalization of conducts in violence against women; and follow-up data of the Urgent Protective Measures (UPM) carried out by Batalhão Maria da Penha in Goiânia (GO). The main results showed that, in Brazil, cases of violence against women that caused great repercussions occurred in private (domestic) and public environments, clearly, there was institutional violence practiced by agents and bodies; that the main legislation for the protection of women (Law Maria da Penha) has undergone several changes since its publication; that the data from the follow-up of the MPUs indicate that violence against women is more evidently based on the fact that the victim is a woman, with the issue of social class being inserted not being significant. Based on the theoretical framework offered by the Narrative Analysis, this work seeks to analyze narratives of the life histories of poor women who have experienced violent marital relationships, describing the ways in which these women operate discursively with certain normative aspects socially established, linked to "gender" crossings, "race" and "social class". We also observe how such crossings are articulated with contemporary social elements and systems, such as romantic love, religiosity, the value of work, meritocracy. In this way, especially in the "evaluations" of the narratives analyzed, we observe certain gender-based norms competing with new elements - such as the narrators' agency - characterized by establishing cracks on normative aspects, ratifying the position taken by Butler (2014) according which, although the category "gender" refers to the mechanism by which the notions of masculine and feminine are produced and naturalized, also puts these aspects in question, producing transformations in the generalized social conventions. The lesbian thinker Monique Wittig, in questioning the binary sex relations that define two opposite social classes (men and women), argues that "lesbians are not women", as they are not subjected to the same oppressions as the supposed "class of women". We objectify to show that bichas, viados, caminhoneiras, sapatões/sapatonas etc. promote a rupture with traditional notions of masculine and feminine through the way they are socially presented and understood, since they are also displaced from heterosexuality. So we see them as other processes of (dis)identification, since they are not located in the same spectrum of privilege, power and relational of those (cisgenders and heterosexuals) inserted in the organization of classes of the feminist materialist thought. In their interesting study on Sport and Globalization, Toby Miller, Geoffrey Lawrence, Jim McKay and David Rowe (2001) observe a parallelism between the commercial boom of imperialist Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and the process of creating an order global for mass sports such as football, tennis, cricket, or athletics. The question of the expansion of the capitalist logic on sport is posed, as we will see below, in terms of the passage from British to North American imperialism. But there is another Empire, outside the concerns of the authors, within whose vast domains, a type of corporal practice also emerged, a warrior dance, a martial art, transformed at a given moment into a sport. We are talking about the great Portuguese empire, where capoeira emerged, an art whose study will allow us, reinforcing and expanding the theoretical perspective of Toby Miller and his companions, to emphasize the incorporation of sport, through the sportivization of the game, in the capitalist societies of the 20th century, as an important element for the intellectual construction of that nationalpopular culture that guarantees the hegemony, in the national space, of a social class that has the capacity to present, internally and externally, its particular interests as the interest of the whole of the people-nation and, with that, negotiating, even, especially in the current moment of globalization, its insertion in the different structures of international power. This article proposes to debate the repercussions of the existing mismatch between the state of abandonment experienced by Brazilian youths from particular races and social classes and the impact of this context of social (un)protection of youth trajectories analyzed through qualitative research. In the study, semi-structured interviews were carried out with actors involved in the process of young people aging out of the system, such as youths in institutional or residential care and professionals who make up the technical teams of residential shelters. The study points out how the absence of public policies for youths in Brazil, anchored in the current neoliberal ideology, has negatively impacted the life of these young people and how urgent it is for the country to prioritize the demands of disenfranchised youths in the development of public policies.
