A diminuição do interesse dos jovens pela ciência, observado em diversos países, tem provocado um movimento em prol de se ouvir o que os estudantes têm a dizer das aulas de ciências e suas perspectivas profissionais. Um desses movimentos é o projeto “The Relevance of Science Education” (ROSE), implementado em mais de 40 países e objeto de estudo do trabalho aqui descrito. Neste sentido, este artigo tem como objetivos verificar qual o interesse global dos jovens brasileiros pela ciência escolar, pela carreira científica e por um emprego que lide com tecnologia avançada. O projeto ROSE foi implementado no Brasil, por meio de uma amostra de representatividade nacional, em 2010, envolvendo 2.365 estudantes, oriundos de 84 escolas, através de um questionário composto por 245 itens, cujas respostas são expressas em uma escala de Likert de 4 pontos. Os dados obtidos revelam que o jovem brasileiro possui interesse pela ciência escolar, porém pouco interesse em seguir a carreira científica. Já em relação a um emprego que lide com tecnologia avançada, observa-se interesse, em especial dos meninos. Apesquisa internacional apontou que há relação entre o IDH dos países pesquisados e o interesse pela ciência: quanto maior o IDH, menor o interesse. Os resultados obtidos indicam a necessidade de uma reflexão sobre as eventuais ações que podem ser tomadas com o intuito de estreitar a lacuna existente entre o interesse pela ciência escolar e pela carreira científica; e de buscar compreender os motivos deste distanciamento.

O desencanto dos estudantes pela ciência escolar e pela carreira científica tem provocado um movimento na área acadêmica em prol de se ouvir o que os alunos têm a dizer das suas aulas de ciências, de seus temas científicos de maior interesse e de sua posição frente a diversas questões relacionadas à ciência e à tecnologia. Um desses movimentos é o projeto The Relevance of Science Education (ROSE), sediado na Universidade de Oslo, Noruega, e implementado em mais de 40 países. No Brasil, o ROSE foi aplicado pela primeira vez em 2007, envolvendo 625 estudantes de dois municípios dos estados de São Paulo e Mato Grosso. Diante das primeiras observações junto ao ROSE, verificou-se a necessidade de se conhecer quais são os interesses, atitudes e preferências dos jovens em relação à ciência e à tecnologia em âmbito nacional. Assim, a pesquisa aqui descrita teve como objetivo implementar o projeto ROSE no Brasil em uma amostra de representatividade nacional, consolidando o perfil dos jovens brasileiros em relação à ciência e tecnologia e, a partir desses dados, discutir de que forma conhecer a relevância que o conhecimento científico tem para os jovens pode influenciar no ensino de ciências que hoje é apresentado nas escolas. A pesquisa, de natureza essencialmente quantitativa, encontra- -se dentro do campo da avaliação educacional, e utilizou como instrumento de coleta de dados um questionário fechado com 245 itens cujas respostas são expressas em uma escala de Likert de 4 pontos. O estudo amostral foi desenhado através de uma amostragem estratificada pelos 26 estados e o Distrito Federal com alocação proporcional, tendo como universo amostral a amostra do Programa Internacional de Avaliação de Estudantes (PISA) no Brasil no ano de 2009. Ao todo, 2365 estudantes participaram da pesquisa, oriundos de 84 escolas localizadas em todos os estados brasileiros. Os dados obtidos revelam que o brasileiro, de modo geral, possui grande interesse pelos temas científicos abordados na escola. Dentre esses, os que mais despertam seu interesse são os relacionados ao corpo humano. Em relação à posição dos jovens frente aos desafios ambientais, consideramos que os brasileiros apresentam atitudes preditoras de comportamento ambiental positivo. Por exemplo, nossos jovens possuem uma visão otimista quanto ao futuro, especialmente as meninas, e consideram fortemente que podemos encontrar soluções para os problemas ambientais. Em relação à ciência escolar, os jovens brasileiros consideram a disciplina interessante, apesar de não terem preferência por ela em relação a outras disciplinas. Há uma atitude positiva geral em relação à disciplina, tanto no que se refere à sua importância como à sua utilidade. Apesar de demonstrarem interesse pela ciência escolar, tanto meninas como meninos tem pouco interesse em ingressar na carreira científica.Verificamos também que os jovens brasileiros têm uma atitude geral otimista em relação à ciência e à tecnologia. Diante dos dados aqui obtidos, de maneira a legitimar as considerações manifestas por esses estudantes, cabe uma reflexão sobre as eventuais ações que podem ser tomadas a fim de que suas opiniões dialoguem com professores, currículos, livros didáticos e outros. The disenchantment of students in science education and career in science has led to a movement in the academic field in favor of listening to what students have to say about their science classes, their scientific topics of greatest interest and its position against several issues related to science and technology. One of these movements is the project The Relevance of Science Education (ROSE), based at the University of Oslo, Norway, and implemented in more than 40 countries. In Brazil, ROSE was first applied in 2007, involving 625 students from two municipalities in the states of São Paulo and Mato Grosso. From the first observations with the ROSE, there was the need to know what are the interests, preferences and attitudes of young people towards science and technology nationwide. Thus, the research described here aimed to implement the ROSE project in Brazil in a nationally representative sample, consolidating the profile of Brazilian youth in relation to science and technology and, from these data, discuss how the comprehension about the relevance of Scientific knowledge for young people can influence the teaching of science being presented nowadays in schools. The research, which is essentially quantitative, lies within the field of educational assessment and used as tool for data collection a closed questionnaire with 245 items whose answers are expressed in a Likert scale of 4 points. The study sample was drawn through a stratified sampling by 26 states and the Federal District with proportional allocation, having as sampling universe the sample of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in Brazil in 2009. In all, 2365 students participated in the survey, coming from 84 schools located in all Brazilian states. The data reveal that the Brazilian, in general, has great interest in the scientific topics covered in school. Among these, the ones that arouse their interest are those related to the human body. Regarding the position of young people with environmental challenges, we consider that the Brazilians have predictive attitudes of positive environmental behavior. For example, our youngsters have an optimistic view about the future, especially girls, and feel strongly that we can find solutions to environmental problems. In relation to science school, the young Brazilians consider discipline interesting, although not having preference for it over other disciplines. There is a positive relation to the general subject, both with respect to its importance as to its usefulness. Although they showed interest in science education, both boys and girls have low interest in joining a scientific career. We also observed that young Brazilians have a generally optimistic attitude towards science and technology. From the data obtained here, in order to legitimize the obvious considerations from these students, it is worth reflecting on the possible actions that can be taken in order that their opinions dialogue with teachers, curricula, textbooks and other.

Apesar da associação entre investigação e Ensino de Ciências ser idealizada desde o início do século XX, não necessariamente consiste em uma prática amplamente utilizada nas escolas, nem aplicada com os mesmos objetivos. Desse modo, considera-se relevante que pesquisadores se debrucem sobre o contexto brasileiro e verifiquem como essa união ocorre. Este trabalho investigou quais são os desafios enfrentados e as estratégias utilizadas, por dois professores diferentes, durante a implementação de um único projeto investigativo, para se adequarem à realidade da escola, nível de ensino e ao contexto cultural existente. Os dados que subsidiaram esta pesquisa foram obtidos através de fontes primárias (entrevistas, questionários) e secundárias (portfólios, produções dos alunos, fichas, relatórios e observações). Percebeu-se que o mesmo projeto foi implementado de maneira bastante distinta entre um professor e outro, que realizaram adaptações de acordo com sua experiência profissional e com o nível de ensino de seus alunos. Although the association between inquiry and science education has existed since the beginning of the 20th century, there is no guarantee that this practice frequently occurs in science classes and neither that it can also be used with the same purposes. Therefore, we think it is relevant that researchers investigate how this works in the Brazilian context. In this research, we investigated the challenges faced and the strategies used by two different teachers during the implementation of a single inquiry based project equating it to school reality, grade level and cultural context. Data collection was based on primary sources (interviews, questionnaires), and secondary sources (portfolios, student's assignments, cards, reports and observations). We noticed that both teachers implemented the same project in very different ways. The adaptations according to their professional experience and the students' grade level are presented here.

Two instruments based on real questions of the Brazilian National Exam ("ENEM") were presented to two randomized groups of high school students. One group received real questions (n=1,631), and the other received the same questions (n=1,400) with abridged context information, but with the same command and alternatives. Results were analyzed with statistical tools, showing higher performance in some questions with abridged information (reverse induced performance). Qualitative tools were used to explain this awkward phenomenon. Conclusions show that students' performance may rely more heavily on perception of subtleties in questions' alternatives, reading skills and time management ability than on previous knowledge and mental skills.

Este trabalho apresenta a análise de um evento de divulgação científica, organizado, segundo a estrutura usual em congressos, como ação didático-pedagógica voltada para a enculturação científica. Alunos de uma rede pública de Ensino Fundamental II, que participaram de projetos investigativos, foram convidados a divulgar e debater resultados de suas pesquisas em um encontro de investigação científica. Eles também participaram de uma palestra sobre metodologias científicas, meio ambiente e história do município em que vivem. Cada atividade teve como objetivo mobilizar habilidades e conhecimentos específicos da ciência. A vivência nesse tipo de evento possibilitou-lhes perceber que a ciência e a comunicação fazem parte da sociedade e da cultura, pois puderam ouvir, discutir e refletir sobre o processo de trabalho investigativo e seus produtos finais. Como resultado, consideramos que houve vivência de um processo de enculturação científica enriquecido pelas contribuições de diversos atores sociais e instituições. This paper presents an analysis of a scientific event organized under the usual structure in Congress, while didactic-pedagogic action focused on literacy in science. Students in a public Middle School, who participated in research projects, were invited to disseminate and discuss results of their research in a meeting about scientific research. They also attended a lecture on scientific methodology, environment and history of the city in which they live. Each activity was designed to mobilize the skills and expertise of science. The experience in this type of event allowed them to realize that science and communication are part of society and culture, because they could hear, discuss and reflect on the work of the investigative process and the outcomes. As a result, we believe that there was experience of a scientific process of enculturation that has been enriched by the contributions of various social actors and institutions.

The worker classes of these bees normally have internal and external activities to the nest. The external activities are related to the collection of pollen and nectar, the collection of nest-building material (resin or clay) and the exit with garbage from the colony. This study aimed the investigatation and comparison of the daily outside activities of thre classes of stingless bees, namely the Melipona scutellaris, Melipona quadrifasciata and Frieseomelitta doederleini and to evaluate the presence of the daily rhythmic patterns in different months of the year, as well as the influence of environmental and meteorological factors in these activities. The largest number of activities of the species M. scutellaris and F. doederleini was observed from January to March, both considered respectively as strong and medium sized colonies. M. quadrifasciata showed a greater activity in July and August and was considered a weak sized colony. The initial activities of Melipona spp. a larger bee, generally occurred at sunrise and earlier than F. doederleini, a smaller bee. Melipona spp. showed preferential times (acrophase) of entrances, exits, entrances with pollen and resin during the mornings. F. doederlein differently, prefered usually the late mornings or early afternoons, during the different months that occurred at higher temperature values than those for Melipona spp. During the month of March, the wettest month, almost all acrophase activities for Melipona spp occurred later. The daily repetition of the first and last activities in the colony and the presence of significant acrophase for the activities of the bees in different months of the year, suggest that the presence of a daily rhythm of activity is probably influenced by the light / dark cycle, by rain and temperature. The final results of the role of environmental and meteorological factors in the external activities rhythms of the species of Meliponina studied, can only be obtained in a controlled laboratory situation. Os melipon?neos (Meliponina) s?o abelhas eussociais, principalmente tropicais e subtropicais e geralmente constroem seus ninhos em cavidades pr?-existentes. As oper?rias destas abelhas apresentam atividades internas e externas ao ninho. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) As mudanças climáticas representam uma grave ameaça à vida no planeta Terra. Os riscos são elevados, porque diversos desequilíbrios ambientais podem ser desencadeados. Pesquisas de percepção pública sobre tal problemática podem contribuir para a promoção de debates sociais e o estabelecimento de políticas públicas efetivas na área. Diante disso, o presente trabalho pretende conhecer as atitudes, percepções e conhecimentos de futuros professores de Ciências sobre o aquecimento global. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de levantamento ou survey, em que se interrogaram os indivíduos cujo comportamento se deseja conhecer, por meio de questionário, no caso desta pesquisa, com aplicação on-line. Ao todo, 86 estudantes responderam ao questionário de pesquisa; a participação foi feita de forma anônima e voluntária. De maneira geral, os resultados revelam que os participantes apresentam conhecimento satisfatório sobre o aquecimento global e percepções positivas sobre vários aspectos relacionados com a sua postura diante dessa temática ambiental; a exceção fica por conta da própria capacidade de ensinar sobre o assunto, já que as respostas a esse item indicaram certo grau de incerteza e insegurança. Os dados revelam a importância de que, à medida que o aluno avança no processo de escolarização formal, o tema aquecimento global receba cada vez mais destaque, com o devido grau de detalhamento e profundidade. O estudo também demonstra o protagonismo assumido pelas modalidades de educação informal e não-formal no que diz respeito à aprendizagem sobre a temática em questão. Climate change poses a serious threat to life on planet Earth. The risks are high, because several environmental imbalances can be triggered. Public perception surveys on this issue can contribute to the promotion of social debates and the establishment of effective public policies in the area. Therefore, the present work intends to know the attitudes, perceptions and knowledge of future Science teachers about global warming. It is a survey or survey, in which individuals whose behavior is desired to know were questioned, through a questionnaire, in the case of this research, with an online application. In all, 86 students responded to the survey questionnaire; participation was anonymous and voluntary. In general, the results reveal that the participants have satisfactory knowledge about global warming and positive perceptions about various aspects related to their attitude towards this environmental issue; the exception is the ability to teach on the subject itself, as the responses to this item indicated a certain degree of uncertainty and insecurity. The data reveal the importance that, as the student advances in the formal schooling process, the global warming theme receives more and more attention, with the due degree of detail and depth. The study also demonstrates the role played by informal and nonformal education modalities in terms of learning about the subject in question.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) Os conteúdos de Biologia são plurais, assumindo várias formas. Apesar disso, ainda hoje existe um preferência de estudo sobre sua forma conceitual, condenando as demais ao esquecimento. Nesse sentido, torna-se crescente a necessidade de pesquisas que revelem um outro viés dos conhecimentos da Biologia. Trabalhos que evidenciem as possibilidades da biologia para a contemplação das necessidade sociais, biológicas e culturais da humanidade. Dessa forma, o presente estudo trata-se de uma investigação sobre os conhecimentos de Biologia e a promoção de atitudes mediante seu aprendizado. Para o alcance deste objetivo, pretende-se conhecer as percepções de ingressantes universitários sobre os conhecimentos aprendidos nas aulas de Biologia do ensino médio e as possíveis atitudes desenvolvidas por meio destes saberes. A escolha deste público se justifica pela maior probabilidade de encontrar jovens que finalizaram recentemente o ensino médio e, dessa forma, dado o pouco tempo de conclusão desta etapa escolar, espera-se que as memórias sobre os conhecimentos de Biologia destes estudantes, continuem resistentes ao esquecimento. A pesquisa foi realizada de forma remota, via Microsoft Forms e contou com 98 respondentes, todos alunos de uma universidade pública localizada na região da grande São Paulo. Os ingressantes responderam um questionário composto por 84 itens organizados em três blocos referentes a opinião sobre a disciplina biologia, os conhecimentos de biologia, e as atitudes promovidas pelo ensino de biologia. Os resultados indicam que os estudantes tem uma visão positiva sobre a biologia, considerando-a fundamental para a compreensão de diversos aspectos da vida e útil para o cotidiano. Com relação aos conteúdos da disciplina, os jovens demonstraram elevado grau de conhecimento em questões sobre saúde, meio ambiente e sexualidade. Os universitários apontaram que os conhecimentos das aulas de biologia aumentaram sua confiança na ciência e contribuíram para a promoção de atitudes relacionadas aos cuidados com a saúde, preservação ambiental, respeito e tolerância as demais sexualidades, e ainda, tornou-os menos susceptíveis à crença em pseudociências e notícias falsas. Estas contribuições revelam um grande potencial da Biologia para o enfretamento de pautas socialmente em evidencia que exigem um posicionamento cientifico por parte dos cidadãos. Biology contents are plural, taking different forms. Despite this, even today there is a preference for studying its conceptual form, condemning the others to oblivion. In this sense, there is a growing need for research that reveals another bias in Biology knowledge. Works that highlight the possibilities of biology for the contemplation of the social, biological and cultural needs of humanity. Thus, the present study is an investigation into the knowledge of Biology and the promotion of attitudes through its learning. In order to reach this objective, we intend to know the perceptions of university students about the knowledge learned in high school Biology classes and the possible attitudes developed through this knowledge. The choice of this audience is justified by the greater probability of finding young people who have recently completed high school and, thus, given the short time it takes to complete this school stage, it is expected that the memories of these students' knowledge of Biology will remain resistant to oblivion. . About the methodology, the research was carried out remotely, via Microsoft Forms and had 98 respondents, the university students participating in this study are part of a public university located in the greater São Paulo region. The freshmen answered a questionnaire composed of 84 statements along three blocks referring to the opinion about the biology discipline, the knowledge of biology, and the attitudes promoted by the teaching of biology. The results indicate that students have a positive view of biology, considering it fundamental for understanding different aspects of life and useful for everyday life. With regard to Biology content, the young people demonstrated a high degree of knowledge on questions about health, environment and sexuality. The university students pointed out that the knowledge of biology classes increased their confidence in science and contributed to the promotion of attitudes related to health care, environmental preservation, respect and tolerance for other sexualities, still making them less susceptible to belief in pseudo sciences and fake news. These contributions reveal a great potential of Biology to face socially evident agendas that require a scientific position on the part of citizens.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) A evolução biológica é o eixo central da Biologia enquanto ciência e eixo estruturante na Biologia enquanto disciplina. O pensamento evolutivo transpassa as fragmentações das áreas disciplinares, possibilitando a compreensão de uma ciência integrada, além de proporcionar reflexões de cunho social e acentuar o pensamento crítico dos discentes. Assim, esta pesquisa tem como objetivo principal investigar as percepções e compreensões de primeiranistas universitários sobre a evolução biológica. O instrumento elaborado para a coleta de dados consiste em um questionário com questões elaboradas em formato de resposta Likert que abrange dimensão de conhecimento, conteúdos aprendidos no Ensino Médio, opiniões e autoeficácia frente ao tema. Para averiguar os conhecimentos, estabeleceu-se oito noções elementares como conceitos estruturantes da teoria evolutiva: descendência com modificação, especiação, ancestralidade comum/origem única, gradualismo, variabilidade, seleção natural, contingência e evolução humana. O questionário foi aplicado a noventa e oito estudantes que ingressaram em 2021 em cursos relacionados às Ciências Exatas e da Terra em uma universidade pública. Os resultados de conhecimento evidenciaram equívocos nas noções de descendência com modificação, gradualismo, seleção natural e contingência; em especial frente às explicações de como o processo evolutivo ocorre. Observaram-se obstáculos cognitivos derivados de vieses intencional/antropomórfico, essencialista e teleológico. Os estudantes demonstraram contato com os conteúdos evolutivos durante o Ensino Médio, ressaltando maior contato com a noção de gradualismo e menor com seleção natural. As opiniões acerca da evolução biológica revelaram-se positivas, apesar de quase metade dos participantes não invalidarem que a evolução biológica é uma teoria baseada em especulação e validarem o processo evolutivo como direcional. Quanto a autoeficácia, os estudantes demonstram maior facilidade em reconhecer que a espécie humana é tão evoluída quanto qualquer outra e maior dificuldade em associar a diversidade dos seres vivos com genética e evolução. Estes resultados destacam obstáculos e concepções equivocadas em conceitos centrais para aprendizagem da evolução biológica em um público enviesado. Desta forma, esta pesquisa contribui fomentando reflexões e discussões que visem a aprendizagem significativa de evolução biológica. Biological evolution is the central axis of Biology as a science and it is the structural axis of Biology as a course. Evolutionary thinking goes beyond the fragmentation of science classes, enabling the understanding of an integrated science, providing social reflections and enhancing the critical thinking of students. This research aims to investigate the perceptions and knowledges of first-year undergraduation students about biological evolution. The instrument developed for data collection consists of a questionnaire with items in Likert-response format with sections about knowledge, content learned in high school, opinions, and self-efficacy on the biological evolution. In order to ascertain evolutionary knowledge, eight elementary notions were established as structural concepts to understanding the evolutionary theory: descent with modification, speciation, common ancestry/single origin, gradualism, variability, natural selection, contingency, and human evolution. The questionnaire was applied to ninety-eight 2021 entrants in courses related to the Exact and Earth Sciences at a public university. The knowledge results showed misconceptions about the notions of descent with modification, gradualism, natural selection, and contingency, especially regarding to explanations of how the evolutionary process occurs. Cognitive obstacles derived from intentional/anthropomorphic, essentialist, and teleological biases were observed. Students showed they had learned evolutionary content in high school, emphasizing more familiarity with the notion of gradualism and less with natural selection. Opinions about evolution were positive, although almost half of the participants did not invalidate that biological evolution is a theory based on speculation and they validated the evolutionary process as directional. As for self-efficacy, students show greater ease in recognizing that the human species is as evolved as any other and greater difficulty in associating the diversity of living things with genetics and evolution. These results highlight obstacles and misconceptions in understanding biological evolution in a biased public. Thus, this research intends to contribute with reflections to foster discussions aimed at meaningful learning of biological evolution. CAPES: 88887.614128/2021-00

Research on science teaching has shown a growing lack of youngsters’ interest in scientific subjects throughout school education. In addition, young adults have been less interested in pursuing careers or academic studies in scientific areas. This loss of interest is concerning since scientific knowledge is important for school education, and the economic and social development is increasingly associated with scientific and technological advances. Among other relevant studies in this area in Brazil, research associated to the ROSE project (The Relevance of Science Education) seeks to listen to the student's perspective in relation to their interests in and attitudes towards science and technology. Young Brazilians consider school science important, but it is not among their favorite subjects. This creates a paradox between absolute preference and relative preference. We sought to investigate how young Brazilians are distributed in relation to the paradox preference for the Science discipline and how the interest in learning topics in science and technology, extracurricular activities, and the learners’ opinion on their science classes help understand this paradox. Regarding the preference for scientific subjects, the youngsters are divided into four groups: Specific Priority (30.6%) presents high relative and absolute preference. This group tends to show positive attitude towards and interest in science and technology; Other Priority (45.15%) presents high absolute interest and low relative interest. Their interests and attitudes are dispersed in this area, with their interest focused more on the health area; Poor priority (20.26%) presents low absolute and relative preference for the subject. This group tends to have negative attitude towards and interest in this area; Not-positive priority (3.98%) has high relative interest and low absolute interest in sciences. Knowing how young people behave in relation to sciences is important since it may help schoolteachers create pedagogical strategies for teaching. Moreover, it is essential for curriculum reform in basic and higher education fostered by the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), which impacts different levels of education, especially high school and its training itineraries. As pesquisas em ensino de ciências têm demonstrado um crescente desinteresse dos jovens pelas disciplinas científicas ao longo da escolarização. Além disso, o interesse por seguir carreiras ou prosseguir estudos acadêmicos nas áreas científicas também diminuiu entre os jovens. Essa perda de interesse na área torna-se preocupante, uma vez que o conhecimento científico é importante para a formação escolar ligado ao fato de o desenvolvimento econômico e social estar, cada vez mais, associado aos avanços científicos e tecnológicos. O Brasil conta com pesquisas relevantes nesta área destacando-se, dentre elas, aquelas oriundas do projeto ROSE (The Relevance of Science Education), que buscam escutar a voz do estudante em relação aos seus interesses e atitudes frente à ciência e tecnologia. Os jovens brasileiros consideram a disciplina Ciências importante, porém ela não figura entre suas favoritas, formando-se assim um paradoxo entre preferência absoluta e preferência relativa. Baseado nesse contexto buscamos investigar como os jovens brasileiros se distribuem frente ao paradoxo preferência pela disciplina Ciências e de que maneira o interesse em aprender tópicos em ciência e tecnologia, as atividades extraescolares e a opinião dos jovens sobre suas aulas de ciências auxiliam a entender esse paradoxo. Em relação a preferência pelas disciplinas científicas os jovens estão divididos em quatro grupos: Prioridade Específica (30,6%), alta preferência relativa e absoluta, esse grupo possui tendência a apresentar atitudes e interesses positivos pela área da ciência e tecnologia; Outras Prioridades (45,15%), alto interesse absoluto e baixo interesse relativo, seus interesses e atitudes encontram-se dispersos nessa área, sendo o seu interesse voltado mais para a área da saúde; Baixa prioridades (20,26%), possui baixa preferência absoluta e relativa pela disciplina, tendem a apresentar atitudes e interesses negativos pela área; Prioridade não específica (3,98%) possui alto interesse relativo e baixo interesse absoluto pela disciplina Ciências. Conhecer como os jovens se comportam frente à disciplina Ciências é importante, pois pode subsidiar professores em sala de aula para criar estratégias de ensino. Torna-se importante também em um contexto de reforma curricular na educação básica e superior desencadeada pela Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC), que impacta diferentes níveis de ensino, em especial o ensino médio e seus itinerários formativos.

O presente trabalho trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa realizada a partir da análise da curricularização de um programa de Extensão, desenvolvido em um laboratório didático da Unifesp campus Diadema, denominado Centro Aprendiz de Pesquisador (CAP), que tem por objetivo aproximar os estudantes da educação básica da universidade e realizar atividades experimentais e investigativas que promovam a divulgação científica. O principal objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar o processo da curricularização da Extensão a partir da associação do programa de Extensão CAP com uma Unidade Curricular (UC) do curso de Ciências – Licenciatura e verificar quais são as contribuições dessa associação para a formação inicial de professores. Os dados foram obtidos a partir da observação participante, da utilização de questionários e por meio da realização de entrevistas com os sujeitos da pesquisa. Esses dados foram analisados dentro dos pressupostos teóricos da análise de conteúdo. Para isso, realizou-se inicialmente uma análise sobre as perspectivas e desafios na efetivação do programa de Extensão no curso de Ciências – Licenciatura da Unifesp, quais eram as percepções dos graduandos sobre o fazer extensionista e quais contribuições a Extensão, a partir de sua curricularização, trouxe para a formação inicial de professores. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram os principais desafios e possibilidades na efetivação do programa CAP, revelaram que os graduandos têm em sua maioria uma percepção da Extensão relacionada à interação entre a universidade e a sociedade e que por vezes essa interação tem caráter unidirecional, ou seja, que a universidade é quem detém um conhecimento e que ele será transpassado para a sociedade, sem que haja uma troca de saberes. Os dados coletados também apontam a Extensão como um importante componente no que tange a formação inicial de professores, foi possível verificar que a partir da curricularização, os graduandos puderam colocar em prática o que estão aprendendo na UC, além de terem uma maior interação com os alunos da educação básica e terem, portanto, um retorno sobre sua prática docente. Os graduandos também relataram a importância do programa para inserção dos alunos das escolas visitantes no ambiente universitário, servindo essa experiência como forma de incentivo ao acesso às universidades públicas. Este estudo considera que a Extensão é um importante componente no processo de formação inicial de professores, pois possibilita que os graduandos tenham a oportunidade de relacionar a teoria e a prática, além de reforçar habilidades da profissão docente. Considera também que a curricularização da Extensão foi um aliado na viabilização do desenvolvimento das ações extensionistas, principalmente para contornar problemas relacionados a escassez de recursos financeiros para a Extensão. A curricularização assegurou ainda uma maior associação entre Ensino, Extensão e Pesquisa que trouxe um retorno para além da academia, pois os alunos da educação básica tiveram a oportunidade de vivenciarem o ambiente universitário, servindo de incentivo ao acesso ao ensino superior público. The present work is a qualitative research carried out from the analysis of the curricularisation of an extension program, developed in a didactic laboratory of the UNIFESP campus Diadema, called The Apprentice Center of Researcher (CAP), which has aim to approximate the students of the basic education and from the university's and perform experimental and investigative activities that promote scientific dissemination. The main objective of this research was to analyze the process of the curricularisation of the extension from the association of the CAP Extension program with a curricular unit (UC) of the course of sciences – degree and to verify the contributions of this association for initial teacher training. The data were obtained from participant observation, from the use of questionnaires and through interviews with the research subjects. These data were analyzed within the theoretical assumptions of content analysis. For this, we initially conducted an analysis of the perspectives and challenges in the implementation of the extension program in the course of sciences of Unifesp, which were the perceptions of the undergraduate students about the extensionist actions and what contributions to Extension, from his curricularisation, brought to the initial formation of teachers. The results showed the main challenges and possibilities in the implementation of the CAP program, revealed that the undergraduate students mostly have a perception of the extension related to the interaction between the university and society and that sometimes this interaction has a unidirectional character, that is, that the university is the one who holds a knowledge and that it will be transroasted into society without an exchange of knowledge. The data collected also point to extension as an important component in relation to initial teacher training, it was possible to verify that from the curricularisation of extension, the undergraduate students could put into practice what they are learning in the UC, besides having Greater interaction with students of basic education and therefore have a return on their teaching practice. The undergraduate students also reported the importance of the program for the inclusion of pupils from visiting schools in the university environment, serving this experience as a way to encourage access to public universities. This study considers that extension is an important component in the initial teacher education process, since it allows undergraduate students to have the opportunity to relate theory and practice, in addition to reinforcing skills of the teaching profession. It also considers that the curricular extension was an ally in the feasibility of the development of extensionist actions, mainly to circumvent problems related to the scarcity of financial resources for the extension. The curricularisation of extension also ensured a greater association between teaching, extension and research that brought a return beyond the academy, since the students of basic education had the opportunity to experience the university environment, serving as an incentive to access to public higher education.

Estudos atrelados ao Ensino de Micologia indicam que os estudantes da Educação Básica pouco percebem ou conhecem sobre os fungos, inclusive, parte desses estudantes apresenta uma visão distorcida a respeito desses seres vivos, associando-os, predominantemente, a organismos maléficos e causadores de doenças, exibindo pouco conhecimento da importância ecológica e econômica desses seres. No entanto, estudos que explorem esta questão são limitados na literatura científica educacional. Nesse sentido, o presente estudo trata-se de uma investigação das percepções e conhecimentos que os estudantes concluintes do ensino médio apresentam sobre fungos. Acredita-se que a escolha pelo público-alvo em questão possa oferecer indícios das possíveis contribuições da escola no que se refere ao ensino de micologia, já que o estudante está prestes a finalizar a educação básica. Os professores desses estudantes também foram investigados nesta pesquisa, porém, como o intuito de compreender os reflexos de sua formação e prática no ensino de fungos nas escolas. Em relação a metodologia, a pesquisa foi realizada em seis escolas do município de Diadema/SP e contou com a participação de 305 estudantes e seis professores. Os estudantes responderam a um questionário de pesquisa elaborado especialmente para investigar suas percepções e conhecimentos acerca dos fungos e, os professores responderam a um questionário elaborado para explorar aspectos que levam em conta sua prática e formação. Os resultados, analisados por uma combinação de métodos de natureza qualitativa e quantitativa, evidenciaram que os estudantes associam fortemente os fungos as doenças por eles causadas e as atividades desses seres que entram em conflito com os interesses humanos, como o estrago de alimentos e objetos em decorrência do desenvolvimento de mofos e bolores. Outra clara associação que compõe a percepção e o conhecimento dos estudantes é a ideia de que fungos são bactérias, não havendo diferenças entre esses seres vivos. Sobre o papel decompositor dos fungos, a maioria dos estudantes apresenta conhecimentos sobre esta importante atividade ecológica, no entanto, a maioria deles também não exibe noção da necessidade de proteção desses organismos no meio ambiente. Além disso, a percepção dos estudantes sobre o uso dos fungos em aplicações biotecnológicas de valor alto econômico é baixa, pouco parecem saber da utilização dos fungos na produção de pães, medicamentos, combustíveis e bebidas. De modo similar, os conteúdos científicos relacionados à biologia dos fungos se mostraram deficientes em boa parte dos estudantes. Ao observar a pesquisa como um todo, não se notaram diferenças significativas na percepção e no conhecimento dos estudantes quanto aos seus gêneros (feminino e masculino). Todavia, os estudantes do ensino privado se destacaram em relação aos estudantes do ensino público, demonstrando terem uma visão sobre os fungos conceitualmente mais correta. No que concerne à pesquisa realizada com os professores, este estudo evidenciou que a precária formação docente, em relação a biologia dos fungos e ao ensino de micologia, exibe fortemente seus reflexos nas escolas, pois os conteúdos de fungos são trabalhados de maneira superficial e pouco significativa. Diante dos resultados apresentados, espera-se que essa pesquisa fomente e contribua com discussões que visem melhorar a qualidade do ensino de biologia nas escolas, especialmente quando o assunto em questão for os fungos. Studies associated with the teaching of Mycology indicate that Basic Education students little observe or know about fungi, and some have a distorted view of these living beings, since they relate them especially with malicious and disease-causing organisms, which is a sign of poor knowledge of the ecological and economic importance of these beings. However, studies investigating this issue are scarce in the educational scientific literature. In this sense, the present study is aimed to investigate the perceptions and knowledge that students of high school present about fungi. It is believed that the choice by the target public in question may offer indications of possible contributions of the school in what concerns the teaching of mycology, since the student is about to complete basic education. These students' teachers were also investigated in this research, but the aim here is to understand the response of their training and practice in fungi teaching in schools. Regarding the methodology, the research was carried out in six schools in the city of Diadema, SP, and 305 students and 6 teachers participated. The students responded to a research questionnaire especially designed to investigate their perceptions and knowledge about fungi, and the teachers answered a questionnaire developed to explore aspects that take into account their practice and training. The results, analyzed by a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, showed that students strongly associate fungi with the diseases they cause and the activities of these beings that conflict with human interests, such as food and objects damage as a result of moulds. Another clear association that comprises the perception and knowledge of students is the idea that fungi are bacteria, and there are no differences between these living things. As for the decomposition role of fungi, most students know about this important ecological activity, however, most of them do not have the slightest notion of the need to protect these organisms in the environment. Furthermore, their perception of the fungus use in biotechnological applications of high economic value is low, since they seem to know little about the use of fungi in the production of breads, medicines, fuels and beverages. Similarly, the scientific content related to fungal biology has been found to be deficient to most students. Observing the survey as a whole, no significant differences in the perceptions and knowledge of the students about their gender (female and male) were noted. However, private school students excelled in public education, demonstrating that they have a conceptually correct view of fungi. In what concerns the research carried out with teachers, the present study showed that poor teacher training on fungi biology and on the teaching of mycology strongly reflects in schools, since the contents that approach fungi subjects are worked superficially and are little significant. Given the results presented, it is expected that this research encourages and contributes to discussions aimed at improving the quality of biology teaching in schools, especially when the issue is fungi.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Science education and the school curriculum have been based on what is believed that students should learn, consensus or not, often neglecting what students want to learn. It is not the case to focus only on what young people want to learn, but to use students' interests to teach what needs to be taught. Knowing the interest of young people in the sciences is important both from a curricular and a classroom point of view, since it has the potential to foster motivation, an important factor to ease the teaching and learning process. Seeing this importance, several researches have been developed to know the voice of the students. In the Brazilian scenario, some studies stand out in this context, such as those that used the ROSE questionnaires (The Relevance of Science Education) and Barômetro, both developed by the Research Center on Education, Dissemination and Epistemology of Evolution "Charles Darwin" (EDEVO-Darwin) of the University of São Paulo. From the EDEVO-Darwin partnership and the Graduate Program in Education in Sciences: Chemistry of Life and Health of the Federal University of Santa Maria, arise the present study, in which the data obtained by the ROSE and Barômetro applied in Brazil were used. The research aimed to use the answers in the sections What I want to learn from both instruments to elaborate typologies of Brazilian students facing their interests in science and technology as well as to discuss them from a socioeconomic and cultural perspective. To achieve this goal, cluster analysis was used to first group the questions of the sections mentioned above in relation to the students' answers and then to group the students according to their interests. These two groups generated the typologies, which were later characterized by socioeconomic and cultural interests and characteristics. From this methodological trajectory resulted four typologies: Reluctant, young people with low interest by sciences; Enthusiasts, students with a keen interest in science; Non-Selective Indecisives, who presented a median interest in all the subjects researched, and Selective Indecisives, who have an average interest similar to Non-Selective Indecisives, but with a high interest in subjects such as science and scientists and very low interest in subjects such as agriculture. In addition, each typology presented different characteristics in relation to the two socioeconomic and cultural variables available in the questionnaire, which indicates an influence of these factors on the distinction between each typology. The results presented great potential for science education, from both a curricular and a classroom point of view, which can help motivate students and consequently facilitate the learning of young people. O ensino de ciências e o currículo escolar têm sido fundamentados naquilo que se acredita, consenso ou não, que os estudantes devam aprender, negligenciando muitas vezes aquilo que os alunos desejam aprender. Não é o caso de focar apenas naquilo que os jovens queiram aprender, mas utilizar os interesses dos estudantes para ensinar aquilo que é preciso ser ensinado. Conhecer o interesse dos jovens frente às ciências é importante tanto do ponto de vista curricular quanto para a sala de aula, uma vez que apresenta potencial para fomentar a motivação, um fator importante para facilitar o processo de ensino e aprendizagem. Por esta importância, diversas pesquisas têm sido desenvolvidas para conhecer a voz dos estudantes. No contexto brasileiro, alguns estudos se destacam neste âmbito, como os que utilizaram os questionários ROSE (The Relevance of Science Education) e Barômetro, ambos desenvolvidos pelo Núcleo de Pesquisa em Educação, Divulgação e Epistemologia da Evolução “Charles Darwin” (EDEVO-Darwin) da Universidade de São Paulo. A partir da parceria do EDEVO- Darwin e do Programa de Pós Graduação em Educação em Ciências: Química da Vida e Saúde da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria surge o presente estudo, em que foram utilizados os dados obtidos pelas aplicações do ROSE e do Barômetro no Brasil. A pesquisa objetivou utilizar as respostas das seções O que eu quero aprender de ambos instrumentos para elaborar tipologias de estudantes brasileiros frente aos seus interesses pela ciência e tecnologia bem como discuti-las a partir de uma perspectiva socioeconômica e cultural. Para atingir este objetivo foi utilizado a análise de clusters para agrupar, primeiramente, as questões das seções mencionadas acima em relação às respostas dos estudantes e em seguida agrupar os estudantes de acordo com seus interesses. Estes dois agrupamentos geraram as tipologias, que posteriormente foram caracterizadas pelos interesses e pelas características socioeconômicas e culturais. Deste percurso metodológico resultaram quatro tipologias: Relutantes, os jovens com baixo interesse por ciências; Entusiastas, estudantes com alto interesse pelos temas de ciências; Indecisos Não Seletivos, que apresentaram um interesse mediano por todos os temas pesquisados, e p Indecisos Seletivos, que possuem interesse médio similar ao dos Indecisos Não Seletivos, mas com alto interesse por temas como ciência e cientistas e baixíssimo interesse por temas como agricultura. Além disso, cada tipologia apresentou diferentes características frente às duas variáveis socioeconômicas e culturais disponíveis no questionário, o que indica uma influência destes fatores na distinção entre cada tipologia. Os resultados apresentaram grande potencial para a educação em ciências, tanto do ponto de vista curricular como da prática de sala de aula, podendo auxiliar na motivação dos estudantes e consequentemente em facilitar o aprendizado dos jovens.

O ensino de Ciências por investigação (ENCI) é uma abordagem didática que tem sido recomendada mundialmente. Pode ser implementado pelos professores por meio de atividades em que os alunos investigam um problema proposto e tentam buscar hipóteses, soluções e considerações para respondê-lo. O objetivo principal dessa pesquisa é investigar as possibilidades apresentadas e os desafios enfrentados na realidade dos professores dos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental na implementação de atividades investigativas no ensino de Ciências. Para isso, foi realizada uma pesquisa colaborativa predominantemente qualitativa com 20 docentes atuantes nos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. A pesquisa foi feita a partir da análise de conteúdo de dados provenientes de um formulário de concepções prévias preenchido pelas professoras, registros de um curso de formação continuada e dados de um estudo de casos múltiplos envolvendo três das participantes. Foram evidenciadas diversas possibilidades na implementação de atividades investigativas, como: atrelar o ensino de Ciências com outras disciplinas; desenvolver atividades experimentais em escolas sem laboratório de Ciências; trabalhar questões sobre a natureza da ciência; entre outras. Foram evidenciados também alguns desafios, como: repertório de ideias escasso; dificuldade em adaptar as atividades investigativas à rotina escolar; encontrar a melhor forma de aproveitar os erros em atividades investigativas; grande cobrança para as disciplinas de português e matemática; entre outros. Espera-se que as considerações e questionamentos oriundos desta pesquisa possam contribuir com futuros trabalhos para a elaboração de políticas públicas educacionais de modo a fazer com que a abordagem didática seja constantemente aperfeiçoada, para que se amplie o conhecimento do fenômeno de implementação do ensino de Ciências por investigação e para sua valoração diante de professores e pesquisadores da área. Inquiry-Based Learning is a didactic approach that has been recommended worldwide. Can be implemented by teachers through activities in which students investigate a proposed problem and try to seek hypotheses, solutions and considerations to answer it. The main objective of this research is to investigate the possibilities presented and the challenges facing the reality of teachers in Elementary School in the implementation of inquiry activities in science education. For this, a predominantly qualitative collaborative research with 20 active teachers in Years of Basic Education was held. The survey was conducted from data content analysis from a form of preconceptions filled by teachers, records of a continuing education course and data from a study of multiple cases involving three of the participants. Several possibilities in the implementation of inquiry activities were highlighted, such as pegging the teaching of science with other disciplines; develop experimental activities in schools without science lab; work questions about the nature of science; among others. They were also highlighted some challenges, such as: repertoire of little ideas; difficulty in adapting to the school routine investigative activities; find the best way to take advantage of errors in investigative activities; great collection for the disciplines of Portuguese and Mathematics; among others. It is expected that the considerations and questions arising from this research can contribute to future work for the development of educational policies in order to make the didactic approach to be constantly improved, in order to expand the knowledge of the implementation phenomenon of science teaching for research and for its evaluation before teachers and researchers.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior The aim of this dissertation was to identify how the 'Student Voice' makes part of the construction of the science curriculum, the development of Reference Matrix ENEM and of the preparation of textbooks in the high school biology. This work is organized in 3 chapters in article format, in order to address in more detail the issues that make up this research. The first article investigated the jobs that have been made in recent years about textbook and School Curriculum and mapped the contributions of the views of students in the construction of the Science Curriculum. The second article sought relations between the interests of high school students resulting from the application - in nationwide, an instrument entitled The Relevance of Science Education (ROSE) and the skills assessed in ENEM, analyzed from its Reference Matrix. The third and final article aims to investigate how often the topics of greatest interest to high school students appear in Biology textbook. From this, the need arises to study whether there is relationship between the triad: Interests of students, Textbook and Curriculum. This is because we believe that there should be a balance in the process of (re) construction curriculum in which students leave the facilitating role to become active participants in this process. Listen students provides a major change in decision-making and educational activities geared for whom education is designed. The set of three articles showed us that researches on 'Student Voice' are very important for the development of new curricular and pedagogical strategies. However, there are a greater number of researchers engaged on the subject abroad than in Brazil. We showed the almost null student participation in decisions, discussions or even meetings on changes, menus and curricular reforms. In conclusion, it is necessary to increase the number of jobs and new research about the 'Student Voice', in order to valorize the information given by young people. It is noticed that some of the interests of young people, analyzed, appear very superficially in some of the selected collections. With the present results, we can suggest the need of new researches about the quality of textbook. These can not only identify possible deficiencies and refine future training structures of textbooks, but can also become important tools to arise books with a new look for Science Education. O objetivo desta dissertação foi identificar de que forma a Voz do estudante‟ faz parte da construção do currículo de Ciências, da elaboração da Matriz de Referência do ENEM e da confecção dos Livros Didáticos (LDs) de Biologia do Ensino Médio. Este trabalho encontra-se organizado em 3 capítulos em formato de artigo, com o intuito de abordar de maneira mais detalhada os assuntos que compõem esta pesquisa. O primeiro artigo investigou os trabalhos que foram feitos nos últimos anos sobre LD e Currículo Escolar e mapeou as contribuições das opiniões dos estudantes na construção do Currículo de Ciências. O segundo artigo buscou as relações entre os interesses dos estudantes do Ensino Médio - resultantes da aplicação, em âmbito nacional, de um instrumento intitulado The Relevance of Science Education (ROSE) e as habilidades avaliadas no ENEM, analisadas a partir de sua Matriz de Referência. O terceiro e último artigo tem como objetivo investigar a frequência com que os temas de maior interesse dos alunos do Ensino Médio aparecem nos LDs de Biologia. Diante disso, surge a necessidade de estudar se há ou não articulação entre a tríade: Interesses dos alunos, Livro Didático e Currículo. Isso porque, acreditamos que deva existir um equilíbrio no processo de (re) construção curricular em que os alunos deixem o papel de coadjuvantes para se tornarem participantes ativos desse processo. Ouvir os estudantes proporciona uma importante mudança em decisões e ações pedagógicas voltadas para quem o ensino se destina. O conjunto dos 3 artigos nos mostrou que pesquisas sobre a Voz do estudante‟ são muito importantes para o desenvolvimento de novas estratégias curriculares e pedagógicas. Porém, ainda é maior o número de pesquisadores empenhados no assunto no exterior do que aqui no Brasil. O que revelamos é a quase nula‟ participação dos estudantes em decisões, discussões ou até mesmo reuniões sobre mudanças, ementas, reformas curriculares. Por fim, se faz necessário ampliar o número de trabalhos e novas pesquisas sobre a Voz do estudante‟, a fim de valorizar as informações dadas pelos jovens. Percebe-se que alguns dos interesses dos estudantes, aqui analisados, aparecem de forma muito superficial em algumas das coleções selecionadas. Não podemos generalizar, mas a partir dos resultados obtidos podemos sugerir novas pesquisas sobre a qualidade dos LDs. Estas podem não só apontar possíveis deficiências e refinar as futuras estruturas formativas dos livros didáticos, como também podem se tornar importantes ferramentas para que surjam livros com um novo olhar para o Ensino de Ciências.

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar, in vitro, a resistência de união de retentores intrarradiculares previamente irradiada com laser de diodo em alta intensidade (λ= 830 nm), tanto em regime contínuo como pulsado. Foram utilizados retentores intrarradiculares metálicos ou de fibra de vidro, cimentados com fosfato de zinco ou cimento resinoso auto-condicionante. Assim, as variáveis analisadas foram o regime de irradiação, o tipo de retentor intrarradicular e o tipo de agente cimentante na resistência de união. Estas variáveis foram analisadas, in vitro, nos 3 terços radiculares (cervical, médio e apical) de 90 dentes humanos endodonticamente tratados, preparados para receber retentor intrarradicular e irradiados com laser de diodo em alta intensidade (830 nm). Após a irradiação os retentores foram cimentados com cimento de fosfato de zinco ou com cimento resinoso autocondicionante. As raízes foram seccionadas por meio de cortes transversais dos terços cervical, médio e apical, obtendo-se, assim, seis amostras de cada raiz. Cada uma das amostras foi submetida ao ensaio de resistência de união de maneira cega. Conclui-se que a resistência mecânica à compressão de retentores intrarradiculares em dentina previamente irradiada com laser de diodo de alta intensidade (λ= 830 nm) apresentou maiores valores na dentina intrarradicular tanto no regime contínuo como pulsado, sendo ligeiramente superior no regime pulsado. Foi possível verificar que, nos terços médio e cervical, a irradiação com laser de diodo pulsado (Pm = 1 W, I = 994 W/cm2) resultou em maiores valores de resistência de união, com ambos os cimentos e ambos os tipos de núcleo. Houve diferença estatisticamente significante nos valores de união nos diferentes terços dos grupos tratados, sendo superior para o terço cervical (p < 0,05). Assim, a técnica de irradiação do conduto com laser de diodo mostrou-se eficaz no aumento da resistência de união de retentores intrarradiculares. The aim of this study was to evaluate, in vitro, the bond strength of intracanal post cemented on irradiated dentin by a high intensity diode laser (λ = 830 nm), both continuous and pulsed regime. Metal or fiber glass posts were used and cemented with zinc phosphate cement or self-etching resin-based cement. Thus, the variables analyzed were the regime of irradiation, the type of post and type of luting agent on bond strength. These variables were analyzed in vitro the 3 root thirds (cervical, middle and apical) of 90 endodontically treated human teeth prepared to receive posts and irradiated with diode laser at high intensity (830 nm). After irradiation, posts were cemented with zinc phosphate or self-etching resin cement. The roots were transversely in the cervical, middle and apical thirds, resulting in six samples each root. Each sample was subjected to the test of bond strength blindly. We concluded that the mechanical strength of intracanal posts cemented on dentin irradiated by high intensity diode laser (λ = 830 nm) showed higher adhesion values in dentin, both for continuous and pulsed regime, being slightly higher in the pulsed regime. It was possible to verify that in the cervical and middle thirds, irradiation with pulsed diode laser (Pm = 1 W, I = 994 W/cm2) resulted in higher bond strength using both cements and both types posts. There was a significant difference among the different thirds of the treated groups, being higher for the cervical third (p < 0,05). So, irradiation with diode laser was effective to increase the resistence of union of intrarradicular posts.

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito do Laser de Baixa Intensidade (LLLT) em um modelo de Hipersensibilidade Tardia (RHT). LLLT vem sendo estudado há algum tempo e seus efeitos clínicos, aplicados no tratamento de várias doenças. O laser tem sido testado em diferentes modelos experimentais, mas seus efeitos permanecem obscuros. Tentou-se avaliar os efeitos do LLLT na RHT à ovalbumina (OVA), uma proteína que vem sendo utilizada como antígeno para sensibilizar cobaias. Esse é um modelo amplamente utilizado para avaliar os efeitos de substâncias com potencial para modular o sistema imunológico e as reações inflamatórias. Camundongos Balb/C foram divididos, randomicamente, em quatro grupos, (I) imunizado, não tratado e desafiado (n=6), (II) não imunizado, não tratado e desafiado (n=6); (III) imunizado, tratado com Azatioprina e desafiado (n=6); e o grupo (IV), imunizado, tratado com LLLT e desafiado (n=6). Passadas 48 horas do desafio, os animais foram submetidos a avaliação do edema da pata e foram eutanasiados para análise do coxim plantar. Testes de proliferação foram realizados (espontâneos, na presença de cocanavalina A e ovalbumina) para determinar a produção, em cultura de células, de TNF- , INF- and IL-10. Análises imunohistoquímicas para expressão de COX-2 também foram realizadas. No grupo de animais irradiados com laser e naqueles tratados com AZA, a medida da espessura da pata foi significativamente menor em comparação à do grupo controle. Tal fato foi acompanhado da redução significativa na densidade do infiltrado inflamatório, assim como a redução significativa nos níveis de TNF- , INF- and IL-10 e na expressão de COX-2. Nossos resultados sugerem que o tratamento com laser possui efeito imunomodulador na RHT à OVA e podem contribuir para a imunoterapêutica do transplante renal. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) in an experimental model of delayed hypersensitivity reaction (DTH). LLLT has been studied for some time and its clinical effects have been used to treat numerous diseases. LLLT has been tested in different experimental models and some of its effects have yet to be explained. We tried to assess the effects of LLLT on the DTH reaction to ovalbumin (OVA), a protein that has been used as an antigen to sensitize lab animals. This is a broadly used experimental model to assess the effects of substances that have the potential to modulate the immune system and inflammatory reactions. Balb/C mice were randomly divided into four groups, (I) immunized, untreated and challenged (n=6), (II) not immunized, untreated and challenged (n=6); (III) immunized, treated with Azathioprine (AZA) and challenged (n=6); and group (IV) immunized, treated with LLLT and challenged (n=6). Forty-eight hours after the challenge, the animals were submitted to a paw edema check and were euthanized for histopathology analysis of their plantar pads. Proliferations tests were made (spontaneous, in the presence of concanavalin A and Ovalbumin) to determine the production in cell cultures of TNF- , INF- and IL-10. Immunohistochemical analyzes for expression of COX-2 were also performed. In the group of animals irradiated with lasers and those treated with AZA, footpad thickness measurements were significantly reduced in comparison to the control group. This was accompanied by a very significant drop in the density of the inflammatory infiltration as well as by a significant reduction in the levels of concentration of TNF- , INF- and IL-10 and in the expression of COX-2. Our results suggest that treatment with LLLT has immunomodulatory effect and may have important contribution to the immunotherapeutic of kidney transplants.

Nesta pesquisa foi realizada a análise da imagem radiográfica digital da técnica periapical de raízes cujos ápices foram irradiados com laser de Neodymium Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Nd:YAG) após a ressecção apical. Com intuito de encontrar alterações da imagem radiográfica digital das raízes causadas pela irradiação laser, desenvolvemos um modelo experimental in vitro. Foram realizadas as apicectomias de 39 raízes de dentes unirradiculares a dois milímetros do limite apical, com posterior fixação dos dentes em dispositivo que conferiu uma rígida padronização das radiografias, cujas imagens foram capturadas por meio de um sistema de radiografia digital direta (Dixi® Planmeca). Com a fixação das raízes no dispositivo de padronização, realizamos uma radiografia inicial, irradiamos os ápices radiculares com o laser de Nd:YAG e em seguida fizemos uma radiografia final, sem manipulação do sistema de padronização durante todo o processo. Os parâmetros de irradiação laser utilizados foram baseados no protocolo de pesquisa clínica para cirurgias apicais desenvolvido no Laboratório Especial de Laser em Odontologia (LELO-FOUSP). Foram eles 100mJ, 15Hz, 1,5W e diâmetro da fibra óptica de 320m. As radiografias foram obtidas com três tempos de exposição diferentes (0,05s, 0,08s e 0,14s). As imagens radiográficas antes e depois a irradiação laser, obtidas em 12 bits, foram convertidas para 8 bits e exportadas para o programa de análise de imagens ImageTool 3.0.0. A análise das imagens digitais foi executada por meio de histogramas e subtração de imagem digital quantitativa. Foi possível detectar por meio dos dois métodos uma menor quantidade de dentina na superfície apical após a irradiação com o laser de Nd:YAG. A variável tempo de exposição não apresentou diferenças estatísticas significantes, porém foi observada uma tendência de melhor desempenho dos métodos com imagens obtidas com exposição de 0,05s. Apesar de termos observado remoção de tecido dentinário, não foi possível detectar a presença de uma camada de dentina mais radiopaca nas imagens radiográficas da superfície irradiada. In this research, we carried out an evaluation of the digital radiographic image of dental root-ends irradiated with Neodymium Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Nd:YAG) laser after apical resection. With the intention of founding alterations in the digital radiographic image of the roots caused by laser irradiation, we developed an in vitro experimental model. We made apicectomy in 39 single-root teeth, 2 milimeters below the apical limit and then we fixed these teeth in a standardization device. The radiographic images were captured thru a direct digital radiographic system (Dixi® Planmeca). After positioning of the teeth in the standardization device, we made an initial radiograph, Nd:YAG laser irradiation of the apex and a final radiograph, without manipulation of the standardized system during the whole process. The laser parameters applied in this research followed the clinical research protocol for apical surgeries developed in the LELO- FOUSP. They were 100mJ, 15Hz, 1,5W and a 320m diameter optic fiber. The radiographs were made within three different exposure times (0,05s, 0,08s and 0,14s). The obtained 12 bit radiographic images before and after laser irradiation were converted to 8 bit images and exported to the ImageTool 3.0.0 image analysis software. With this software wee analyzed the digital images in the methods of histogram analysis and quantitative digital image subtraction. The two methods indicated less amount of dentin in the apical surface after Nd:YAG laser irradiation. The variable exposure time did not present statistical differences. However, we observed a tendency of better performance of the methods with images obtained with 0,05s exposure time. Although we observed dental tissue ablation, it was not possible to detect the presence of a more radiopac dentin layer in the irradiated surface radiographic images.

A terapia laser é um excelente procedimento clínico coadjuvante no tratamento endodôntico pela sua capacidade de promoção e melhoria da limpeza e da desinfecção do sistema endodôntico, porém existem poucos estudos sobre a possível utilização desta nova tecnologia nas situações clínicas de desobturação. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar in vitro o uso do laser de diodo (810nm, no modo contínuo) na desobturação da guta percha e do cimento AH Plus, utilizando ou não solvente químico (eucaliptol). Canais radiculares obturados tiveram o seu material obturador irradiado pelo laser de diodo de 810 nm (ZAP SOFTLASE, ZAP LASERS). A temperatura externa radicular durante a irradiação foi verificada no terço apical de 12 amostras utilizando o sistema de medida de temperatura. Observou-se um aumento de temperatura que variou de 2,47 a 9,35 ºC. Raízes foram divididas aleatoriamente em 4 grupos com 10 espécimes, variando o parâmetro de irradiação laser e a utilização do eucaliptol. Os grupos foram: Grupo I = irradiação (1,0 W) sem a utilização de solvente, Grupo II = irradiação (1,5 W) sem o uso de solvente, Grupo III = irradiação (1,0 W) + solvente, Grupo IV = (1,5 W) + solvente. As amostras foram radiografadas no sentido V-L e M-D, antes e após o retratamento, digitalizadas, e as áreas remanescentes de guta percha foram calculadas com o auxílio de programas de computador: Adobe Photoshop e ImageLab. Os resultados dos espécimes dos grupos: G1xG3; G1xG4; G2xG4 apresentaram diferença estatística. O modelo experimental selecionado permitiu verificar que a propagação da temperatura durante o procedimento não excedeu 10ºC e que a presença do solvente possibilitou a remoção de maior quantidade de material obturador auxiliando o processo de desobturação quando do emprego da irradiação com laser de diodo. The laser therapy is an excellent adjunct clinical procedure in endodontic treatment in order to improve the cleaning and disinfection of the root canal system; however few studies in the literature investigated the possible use of this new technology in the clinical situations of retreatment. The objective of this study was to evaluate in vitro the use of the diode laser (810nm, continuous mode) in the removal of gutta-percha and AH Plus sealer from the root canal, with or without the use of a chemical solvent (eucalyptol). Root canal filling materials were irradiated by 810 nm diode laser (ZAP SOFTLASE, ZAP LASERS). The temperature changes at the outer root surface were verified in the apical third of 12 samples during the irradiation. Temperature increase from 2.47 to 9.35 ºC was observed. The specimens were randomly divided in 4 groups of 10 roots each, varying the parameter of laser irradiation and the use of eucalyptol. The groups were assigned as follow: Group I = irradiation (1.0 W) without the solvent use, Group II = irradiation (1.5 W) without the solvent use, Group III = irradiation (1.0 W) + solvent, Group IV = (1.5 W) + solvent. Mesio-distal and buccolingual radiographs were taken before and after retreatment and the area of remaining gutta-percha in the root canals was determined with the aid of: Adobe Photoshop and ImageLab softwares. The groups: G1xG3; G1xG4; G2xG4 presented statistical differences.Based on the methodology used, it was verified that the temperature did not exceed 10ºC and that the presence of the solvent made it possible to remove large amounts of root canal filing material, aiding the desobturation process when used in association to the diode laser.

O objetivo deste estudo foi o de avaliar os efeitos da irradiação laser de Er,Cr:YSGG em superfícies dentinárias no tratamento da hipersensibilidade dentinária cervical, em busca de um protocolo para ser aplicado clinicamente. Para o teste de permeabilidade, foram preparados 144 pré-molares, as coroas seccionadas e as raízes impermeabilizadas. Duas áreas de irradiação antagônicas foram delimitadas e livres da impermeabilização (controle e experimental). A seguir, os dentes foram subdivididos em dois sub-grupos, diferindo o condicionamento da superfície irradiada (EDTA 24% e ácido fosfórico 35%) e em grupos diferindo o protocolo:G1)Er:YAG, 60mJ/2Hz; G2)0,25W; G3)0,5W; G4)0,75W; G5)1W, G6)1,25W; G7)1,50W; G8)1,75W G9)2W. Após as irradiações, os espécimes foram imersos em azul de metileno 2% por 4 horas, e incluídos em resina epóxica para a realização dos cortes longitudinais. Estes tiveram suas imagens trabalhadas em computador para mensuração do nível de infiltração. Os dados foram submetidos à análise estatística. O Sub-grupo 1, condicionado com EDTA, apresentou diferenças entre os grupos sendo que as amostras irradiadas com Er:YAG demonstraram menor infiltração, diferindo estatisticamente dos grupos 3, 6 e 9. Os resultados do sub-grupo 2 mostraram que as médias das amostras irradiadas com Er:YAG tenderam a zero entretanto, não houve diferença entre os grupos. Na Fase B, fragmentos de dentina foram obtidos da região cervical de dentes humanos, preparados para análise em microscopia eletrônica de varredura. Morfologicamente, observou-se oclusão parcial dos túbulos dentinários após irradiação com Er:YAG e Er,Cr:YSGG nas condições de 0,25W e 0,50W. A partir de 0.75W, foi observado abertura dos túbulos e à medida que as energias aumentaram, foram observadas carbonização e fendas. De posse dos resultados dos trabalhos in vitro, foram selecionados os parâmetros para a aplicação e o acompanhamento clínico de 1 mês: G1)controle (placebo); G2)Er:YAG; G3)Er,Cr:YSGG 0,25W e G4)Er,Cr:YSGG 0,75W. Após a triagem, foram selecionados voluntários de acordo com critérios de exclusão e inclusão. O nível de sensibilidade de cada voluntário foi avaliado através da escala visual analógica de dor (VAS) com auxílio do ar da seringa tríplice 1 semana antes (Pré-1), 5 minutos anterior ao tratamento (Pré-2), após 5 minutos (Pós-1), 1 semana (Pós-2) e 1 mês após o tratamento (Pós-3). Os dados foram coletados e submetidos à análise estatística separadamente para os dois estímulos realizados: spray de ar e sonda exploradora. Tanto para o estímulo ar quanto para o estímulo sonda, não foram observadas diferenças estatisticamente significantes nas escalas Pré-1 e Pré-2, concluindo que os pacientes estavam padronizados e não houve efeito da profilaxia nos níveis de dor. Ao estímulo do spray de ar, nota-se uma redução nos níveis de dor na escala Pós-1, porém há uma estabilidade dos valores das escalas seguintes. O grupo 2 (Er:YAG) apresentou o menor nível de dor quando comparado aos outros grupos. Ao estímulo mecânico foi observado que o grupo 4 (Er,Cr:YSGG 0,50W) demonstrou o decréscimo de dor mais acentuado imediatamente após o tratamento, porém ao final do estudo, apresentou os maiores níveis de dor. Os grupos 1, 2 e 3 apresentam redução de dor, porém estatisticamente diferentes do grupo 4. Com base nos resultados apresentados e dentro dos limites e parâmetros estudados, pode-se concluir que nenhuma condição foi capaz de eliminar completamente a microinfiltração e diminuir a permeabilidade dentinária; porém o laser de Er:YAG e o laser de Er,Cr:YSGG 0,25W apresentaram resultados satisfatórios nos três estudos realizados. The aim of the present study was to determine the correct parameters of the Er,Cr:YSGG laser in the treatment of cervical dentin hypersensitivity. This work was presented in 3 different stages. In the first one, it was evaluated the decrease in dentin permeability of dentinal tubules after Er,Cr:YSGG laser irradiation in radicular surfaces. Ninety premolars were prepared with its crows sectioned, and the roots completely impermeabilized. Two antagonist areas of irradiation were determined as control and experimental. Each surface was conditioned with EDTA 24% (sub-group1) and phosphoric acid 35% (sub-group2) and the selected parameters were: 1)Er:YAG, 60mJ, 2Hz, 4 irradiations of 20sec each, defocused mode; and groups 2 to 9 received irradiation with Er,Cr:YSGG laser, 20Hz, Z6 tip, 600µm diameter, defocus mode, 0% of air and water: 2)Er,Cr:YSGG 0,25W; 3) 0,5W; 4) 0,75W; 5) 1,0W; 6) 1,25W, 7) 1,50W, 8) 2W; 9) 2 W. After irradiation, samples were immersed in a solution of methylene blue for 4 hours, washed for 5 min and included in epoxy resin to allow longitudinal cuts. The images were digitalized and computed worked. Data was statistically analyzed. Although the samples irradiated with Er:YAG showed less microleakage, the sub-group 1 showed differences between the groups, statistically different from groups 3, 6 e 9. The results of the sub-group 2 showed that the mean values of the Er:YAG samples had a tendency to be negative, however, no differences were detected between the groups. In the second stage, cuts from the cervical area were obtained and prepared for scanning electron microscopy to evaluate the superficial morphology. It was observed the partial closure of dentinal tubules after the irradiation with Er:YAG and Er,Cr:YSGG laser in the 0.25 and 0.50W protocols. From the 0.75W until 2W, it was observed the dentinal tubules opened as the energy densities raised. With the results of the in vitro studies, the parameters were selected: G1)control; G2)Er:YAG; G3)Er,Cr:YSGG 0,25W e G4)Er,Cr:YSGG 0,75W. Thirty subjects, who met the entry criteria, were admitted into the study. The assessment method used to quantify sensitivity was the cold air syringe, recorded by the visual analogue scale (VAS), prior to treatment as baseline (Pre-1), immediately before (Pre-2) and immediately after (Post-1) the topical treatment, after 1 week (Post-2) and after 1 month (Post-3). Teeth were assigned to the 4 groups. After the follow-up, data was collected and submitted to statistical analysis for both kinds of stimulus: evaporative (air) and mechanical (probe). For both air and probe it was not observed differences among the Pre-1 and Pre-2 moments, for what it can be concluded that patients were standardized. Analyzing the evaporative stimulus, it can be observed the reduction in the pain level immediately after the treatment; however there was stability in the next values. Group 2 (Er:YAG) showed the least level of pain. Throughout the mechanical stimulus, it was observed that group 4 (Er,Cr:YSGG 0,50W) showed the most pronounced decrease of pain immediately after treatment, however, at the end of the study, the levels of pain increased. Groups 1, 2 e 3 showed reduction of pain, statistically different from the group 4. Based on the results and within the limits of this study, it can be concluded that none of the parameters and lasers studied were capable of eliminate the microleakage and decrease the dentin permeability, however, the Er:YAG and Er,Cr:YSGG 0,25W lasers showed satisfactory results in the three studies performed.
