SOCIAL distancing , *COVID-19 pandemic , *ELECTRONIC funds transfers , *FASHION Week , *FASHION shows , *SHOPPING malls , *COMPUTER literacy , *EDUCATIONAL vouchers - Abstract
The fashion market is responsible for expressive numbers in the economy. In 2019, the sector already led the number of orders in Brazilian e-commerce and employed more than one million people. The covid-19 pandemic, however, has brought numerous impacts to the sector: Brazilian fashion brands consider the definitive closure of stores in shopping malls, and important fashion weeks have been canceled, in addition to the reduction of collections. With the social distancing measures necessary to contain the pandemic, the omnichannel strategy has become a matter of survival for companies in the sector, which have been racing against time in an unprecedented digital escalation. Adoption of online stores, delivery, digital payment, the anticipation of shopping vouchers, live fashion shows, and specific actions on social networks are some of the initiatives adopted. Despite this, complaints related to delivery deadlines, products not received, and problems with exchange and/or return of products grew during the pandemic, raising questions about the maturity of organizations for channel integration. This teaching case narrates, based on secondary data, how the omnichannel strategy is being used by companies in the sector and offers subsidies for the discussion of the impact and longevity of these strategies in the post-pandemic scenario. SCHOOL food , *ELECTRONIC funds transfers , *FAMILY farms , *PRIMARY education , *LEGAL compliance , *DOCUMENTATION - Abstract
The National School Feeding Program (PNAE) is an important public food and nutrition policy in Brazil. By legally establishing that 30% of federal funds transferred to school lunches must be used to purchase products from family farming, the law contributes to the strengthening of the social category and to local development. In this sense, the research aims to analyze how Santana do Livramento has used the resources of the PNAE and list the obstacles and challenges in the acquisition of food directly from family farming. Methodologically the research is characterized as mixed, with the collection and analysis of secondary data obtained on the official website of the National Fund for the Development of Education and primary data, from interviews. In the period from 2010 to 2017 the municipality did not comply with Law No. 11,947 / 2009, reaching a maximum utilization of 19.49% of the PNAE resource for the direct purchase of family farming. The main obstacles to compliance with the law are: the necessary documentation, the delay in preparing and publishing the notices, the perception that the price of the products is high, the lack of documentation on family farming and the managers' lack of knowledge about the food produced locally. This article aims to study elements of technical and scientific cooperation between universities and industries from the perspective of researchers from Santa Catarina State University -- UDESC. The study of the links between universities and companies and their collaborative efforts contribute to broaden the understanding of the phenomenon of innovation, from the perspective of economic development. The theme becomes even more timely in the face of the Brazilian economic crisis and government funding restrictions on education, research and extension activities. The research has an exploratory and descriptive approach and it is a qualitative research. We interviewed coordinators of research projects in collaboration with industries, involving transfer of funds in the period 2002-2012. The analysis categories were: industry research objective; researcher research objective; facilitative and inhibitive research development factors; decisive factors in partner choice. For data analysis, has used the software Atlas/ti©. Among the results, we saw that the main objectives pursued by industries with research projects in collaboration with universities are associated with process improvement and new product development. For researchers, the main objectives are: improvement of laboratory structure involved with the research; improved marketing of the institution; achieve further development as a researcher and financial incentives. These results were strongly collaborated by international literature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto - pseudonym of an individual or group of unknown people -, announced the creation of an encrypted and decentralized currency, known as bitcoin. Bitcoin was not the first digital currency in history, but it was the first cryptocurrency to enable disseminated usage, gaining the spotlights on debates for not only solving operational issues of digital currency (double-spending, frauds, etc.) but, mainly, for using a decentralized payment system that utilizes the cryptography to validate transactions in its foundation. In its original conception, bitcoin was meant challenge the fiduciary currencies issued by the Central Banks, and, for its creators, to be capable of replacing them. After 10 years of its creation, it is clear that bitcoin did not fulfill its role, but still raised important discussions and debates to the extent of Monetary Authorities. Given that, this dissertation thesis has two main goals. The first one is to investigate, theoretically, the nature of bitcoin and if its original purpose - replace fiduciary states’ currency - can ever be achieved in a capitalist economy. For such reflection, the Modern Money Theory (MMT) theoretical approach is used as a starting point. The second goal is to evaluate in which ways the dissemination of new technologies, and, particularly the technology behind bitcoin, is impacting the effective functioning of payment systems and Central Banks’ performance Mestrado Teoria Econômica Mestra em Ciências Econômicas

ELECTRONIC funds transfers , *REMITTANCES , *PENSIONS , *DOMESTIC economic assistance , *LABOR market - Abstract
The article describes several characteristics of the two most important targeted cash transfer programs in Brazil, the Continuous Cash Benefit (BPC) and the Bolsa Família Program (PBF), and discusses their institutional aspects, long term sustainability, beneficiaries and levels of targeting. It also addresses the need of feedback conditions, the effects of the transfers on the participation in the labor market and on the contributions for the pensions system. The conclusion is that, on the one hand, the programs are accomplishing the goals they were designed to, under costs which are compatible with the Brazilian budgetary capacity; on the other hand, they apparently have no negative effects on incentives to work and contributions to the pensions system. This work is the result of a research made in 27 supermarkets of different sizes. The aim of this survey was to evaluate the impact of the informatization in the management of those companies. The commerce business and particularly the supermarkets have invested less in Information Technology (IT) than the industries and service business. The research methodology used in this work was the survey. The main investigated aspects were: the most important IT structures, the most important IT projects, Critical Success Factors (CSF) for IT projects and the impacts of the informatization in the supermarket operations. The analyses were based on the managers' perceptions in relation to the aspects which were mentioned above. It was observed that, in general, the medium size supermarkets have client/server network as IT structure. On the other hand, the full size supermarkets use, mostly, the mainframe. Point of sales (POS) was considered the most important IT project among the enterprises, followed by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), and finally, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). According to people who were interviewed, the "high management support" and "integration among the areas of the company" were the most important CSF. Finally, it was realized that the most remarkable impact seen by the managers in the present level of informatization in those supermarkets was the agility in the assistance to the client.
