Chromatography is a method used for analyses of mixture components based on different criteria: adsorbility, solubility, molecular mass, ionic charge and affinity. It is an important subject of Biochemistry. This work reports the development and the validation of a software that simulated a laboratory activity named Ascendant Chromatography on Paper of Aminoacids. The organization and the multimedia material collection were done during the 2008/2 semester. The most representative images were inserted into the learning object. The tool used for the software development was Adobe® Flash® CS3. The first application of this object was in Biochemistry I (Pharmacy-UFRGS) in 2009/1. Using this experience, a new version was developed which was tested by the students of the same subject in 2009/2. After a 50-minute class (theoretical-practical), the students of both semesters were divided in two groups. Group I answered a questionnaire about chromatography basic concepts and after used the software. Group II was submitted to an inverse protocol. The groups also evaluated the technical aspects of the software animation/simulation and the activity carried out. Associating both applications results (2009/1 and 2009/2), the present learning object can be valid as a support for practical teaching of basic biochemistry.

Este estudo trata dos efeitos da radiação gama de Co-60 sobre papéis atingidos por um sinistro. Sete livros de arquivo corrente do séc. XXI, recuperados de enchente e que apresentaram infestação biológica, foram selecionados como amostras para a investigação da irradiação empregada como agente de desinfestação. Partindo da identificação dos principais gêneros de fungos presentes no material para determinar as doses empregadas, estudou-se os efeitos da radiação nas propriedades do papel e nas manchas de lama e de fungos. Foram consideradas doses de radiação gama compatíveis com a possibilidade de repetição do tratamento, pois acervos tratados não ficam imunes a novas infestações e as doses são cumulativas. Importante observar o limite de dose que os suportes documentais e bibliográficos suportariam, sem que ocorram danos, em caso de um novo tratamento. This study addresses the effects of Co-60 gamma radiation on paper. Seven books of registry office archives from 21 century, recovered from flood and that presented biological infestation were selected as samples to investigate the irradiation used as fungal infection treatment. Starting with the identification of the main fungi genera present in the material to determine the doses employed, some of the radiation effects on paper properties were studied as well as on mud and fungus stains. The gamma radiation doses compatible with the possibility of repeated treatment were also observed, because treated collections are not immune to new infestations by microorganisms and the doses are cumulative. It is important to consider the dose limit which documentary and bibliographic material could support without damages in case of a new irradiation treatment.

Os frutos amadurecidos com aplicação de etileno foram colhidos no estádio meio-maturo (de vez) e tratados com etileno (1g.L-1) e mantidos em câmaras, por 12 horas, a 23-25ºC e 85-90% UR. Os frutos foram selecionados, lavados com detergente, sanitizados (200mg.L-1 de cloro) e armazenados por 12 horas, a 10ºC. Após este período, foram processados sob condições assépticas, a 12ºC, acondicionados em embalagem PET ou bandeja de poliestireno expandido recoberta por filme de PVC e armazenados a 3ºC. Foram avaliados, a cada 3 dias, a resistência e a coloração da polpa, os teores de ácido ascórbico, sólidos solúveis (SS), acidez titulável (AT), carboidratos solúveis, redutores e amido, relação SS/AT, pH e atividade da peroxidase. Durante o período de armazenamento, os pedaços de manga tornaram-se mais firmes e mantiveram-se amarelos, porém mais escurecidos, o que foi indicado por redução na luminosidade. Os teores de ácido ascórbico nos pedaços das mangas amadurecidas com etileno apresentaram-se menores que os das amadurecidas naturalmente. A acidez apresentou tendência de redução durante o armazenamento, com as amadurecidas com etileno apresentando os maiores valores e os menores pH. Os produtos de mangas amadurecidas com etileno apresentaram os maiores valores de SS, mas menor relação SS/AT, indicando gosto mais azedo. Os teores de carboidratos solúveis e de amido não apresentaram variação com tendência definida, mas os de carboidratos redutores apresentaram tendência de acréscimo, e a atividade da peroxidase, de decréscimo durante o armazenamento. Os produtos de mangas amadurecidas naturalmente foram superiores aos amadurecidos com etileno, mantendo boa qualidade e aparência adequada para a comercialização até o 13º dia, enquanto os das amadurecidas com etileno, por 11 dias. Fresh cut 'Tommy Atkins' tree-ripe mangos or with ethylene application were evaluated. Ethylene-ripe fruits were harvest mature-green stage and treated with ethylene (1g.L-1) and kept in chambers, for 12 hours, at 23-25ºC and 85-90 RH. Fruits were selected, washed with detergent, sanitized (200mg.L-1 of chlorine) and stored for 12 hours at 10ºC. After this period, they were processed under aseptic conditions at 12ºC, packed in PET trays or polystyrene trays covered with PVC film and stored at 3ºC. They were evaluated, every 3 days, for pulp firmness and color, ascorbic acid, soluble solids (SS), titratable acidity (TA), soluble and reduced carbohydrates and starch contents, SS/TA ratio, pH and peroxidase activity. During storage period, mango slices became firmer and maintained yellow, but darken, which was indicated by reduction in luminosity. Ascorbic acid contents of ethylene-ripe mango slices were lower than tree-ripe. The acidity decreased during the storage with the ethylene-ripe showing the highest values and lowest pH. The products of ethylene-ripe mango presented the highest SS values, but lowest SS/TA ratio, indicating acid taste. Soluble carbohydrates and starch contents have not shown variation with definite trend, but the reducers carbohydrates presented increment and peroxidase activity decreased during the storage. Fresh-cut products of tree-ripe mango were superior to the ethylene-ripe, keeping good quality and adequate appearance for commercialization until the 13th day, while the ethylene-ripe maintained it for 11 days. O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar índices de maturação adequados para avaliar a influência dos estádios de maturação nas transformações físico-químicas após a colheita de goiabas (Psidium guajava cv. Pedro Sato). Frutos colhidos nos estádios de maturação, segundo a cor da casca (1: verde-escura, 2: verde-clara e 3: verde-amarela), foram armazenados a 25±1ºC e 80±5% UR e avaliados quanto às transformações físicas e químicas e percentual de podridão. No momento da colheita, a cor da casca, a firmeza da polpa e a relação sólidos solúveis totais/acidez total titulável apresentaram diferenças significativas entre os três estádios de maturação. Durante o amadurecimento, as transformações físico-químicas foram semelhantes entre os estádios de maturação. O período máximo de viabilidade do fruto para comercialização foi de dois, quatro e seis dias após a colheita, nos estádios 3, 2 e 1, respectivamente. Os teores de sólidos solúveis totais, acidez total titulável e ácido ascórbico apresentaram baixo coeficiente de correlação com as variáveis estudadas. A cor da casca, a firmeza da polpa e a relação sólidos solúveis totais/acidez total titulável foram considerados índices de maturação adequados para a goiaba 'Pedro Sato'.

Objetivou-se avaliar alterações físicas e físico-químicas, relacionando-as às taxas respiratória e de liberação de etileno, durante a maturação da graviola-'Morada'. Frutos colhidos na maturidade fisiológica foram armazenados (23,4 ± 1,1ºC e 81,8 ± 10,6% UR) e avaliados aos 0; 1; 2; 3; 4 e 6 dias, quanto a: atividade respiratória (RS), liberação de etileno (ET), perda de matéria fresca, cor da casca e da polpa, firmeza, pH, acidez total titulável (ATT), sólidos solúveis totais (SST) e açúcares solúveis totais (AST). Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições. Aos dois dias, iniciou-se rápido aumento na RS, resultando no primeiro pico (197,60mg CO2·kg-1·h-1), que foi seguido por queda e uma fase lag. Ao término desta, iniciou-se o aumento climatérico (pico = 298,82mg CO2·kg-1·h-1). ET só foi detectada por ocasião do primeiro pico respiratório, atingindo o máximo aos quatro dias. A cor da casca tornou-se mais clara, enquanto na polpa se observou apenas redução da luminosidade. Houve coincidência entre o primeiro aumento na RS, o pico de ET e as mudanças mais significativas na firmeza, na ATT e nos teores de SST e AST. Durante o período, a firmeza diminuiu de 60 para 0,9N, e a ATT aumentou de 0,18 para 0,88% de ácido cítrico. It was aimed to evaluate physical and physico-chemical changes during soursop 'Morada' maturation at room temperature and related them to respiration rate and ethylene production. Fruits harvested at physiological maturity were stored (23,4 ± 1,1ºC and 81,8 ± 10,6% RH) and evaluated at 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 days, according to: respiration rate (RS), ethylene production (ET), fresh weight lost, skin and pulp color, firmness, pH, total titrable acidity (TTA), total soluble solids (TSS) and total soluble sugars (TS). The experimental design was a completely randomized one with four replications. There was a fast increase in RS at two days that resulted in the first peak (197,60mg CO2·kg-1·h-1) that was followed by a decay and a lag phase. When that phase rad finished, it began the climateric raise (climateric peak = 298,82mg CO2·kg-1·h-1). ET was detected only when the first respiratory peak occurred and reached the maximum at the fourth day. The skin color became bright green while it was observed a decrease just on lightness in the pulp. There was a coincidence among the first increase on RS, the peak of ET and the most significant changes on firmness, TAA, TSS content and TS content. During this period, firmness reduced from 60 to 0,9N and TTA increased from 0,18 to 0,88% of citric acid.

O consumo diário e a digestibilidade aparente de macro e microminerais, foram determinados em cadelas que receberam uma dieta controle (R0), acrescida de 10 (R10) ou 20% (R20) de uma mistura contendo polpa de citros (PC) e folhas de alfafa desidratadas. A digestibilidade aparente dos minerais foi estimada por meio da quantidade do elemento mineral ingerido, subtraída daquela eliminada nas fezes. A medida que a ingestão de fibra dietética aumentou, o consumo de MS (em g/kgPV) diminuiu e as digestibilidades aparentes do Ca, P, Mg, Na, Zn, Fe e Cu foram maiores. A exceção foi para o Mn, cuja digestibilidade reduziu-se com o aumento da ingestão de fibra. Apenas para o K, não se verificou alteração na sua digestibilidade em função do nível de fibra na dieta. The daily intake and the apparent digestibility of macro and microminerals were determined in bitches fed either a control diet (R0) or the same diet but containing 10% (R10) or 20% (R20) of a mixture composed of citrus pulp and dehydrated alfalfa leaf. The apparent digestibility was estimated as being the amount of a mineral element ingested minus the amount of the element quantified in the feces. Once the dietary fiber intake increased, the intake of dry matter (in g/kgLW) reduced and the Ca, P, Mg, Na, Zn, Fe and Cu apparent digestibility increased. Exception was the Mn digestibility reduction as the fiber intake increased. Only the K digestibility was not influenced by the diet fiber level.

Foram utilizadas dietas à base de silagens de milho, de raspa e de casca de mandioca, e também de cana-de-açúcar ensilada com polpa cítrica peletizada. Os novilhos foram castrados e canulados no rúmen e no duodeno. O período experimental teve 11 dias de adaptação às dietas e 8 dias de coleta. O delineamento experimental foi o quadrado latino (4x4), com quatro tratamentos, num arranjo em parcela subdividida, sendo as dietas estudadas nas parcelas, e os indicadores nas subparcelas. Os resultados obtidos em percentagem do peso vivo para a estimativa da produção fecal, utilizando-se os diferentes indicadores, mostraram que a FDAiv (0,88 %), a FDAis (0,85 %) e o Cr2O3 (0,99 %), embora com diferenças significativas, podem ser utilizados pelos resultados biologicamente consistentes. Para estimar o fluxo duodenal de matéria seca e matéria orgânica, foram utilizados os valores de produção fecal obtidos com a FDAiv. Os indicadores internos não apresentaram diferenças entre si para o fluxo duodenal de matéria seca, com média de 3,29 kg/dia, porém o óxido crômico superestimou o fluxo (4,95 kg/dia). Para o fluxo duodenal de matéria orgânica não houve diferença entre os indicadores com média de 2,73 kg/dia. This research was conducted to compare the internal markers: indigestible neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber, obtained after 144 h of in vitro (ivNDF, ivADF) and in situ (isNDF, isADF) rumen incubations; and the chromium oxide (Cr2O3) as external marker. The fecal output of dry matter and organic matter and the duodenal flow of crossbred steers, castrated and canulated in the rumen and in the duodenum. The steers were and fed with corn silage or the cassava hulls + citrus pulp, the cassava meal + citrus pulp, and sugar cane + citrus pulp, silages. The animals were adapted to diets during 11 days following 8 days for sampling. The dry matter and the organic matter duodenal flow estimated using the fecal output calculated by the ivADF. It was used a 4x4 Latin Square design with Split-splots. The fecal output results, expressed in live weight percentage, showed that the ivADF (0.88%), isADF (0.85%) and Cr2O3 (0.99 %) supplied biological consistent values and they could be used in spite of the significant differences among them. The internal markers did not show differences among them for the estimation of dry matter duodenal flow with an average of 3.29 kg/day. The chromium oxide overestimated the DM duodenal flow (4.95 kg/day). The organic matter duodenal flow estimates, there were no difference among the markers with an average of 2.73 kg/day. O efeito do tratamento em que se associou as enzimas comerciais: 0,03 % v/p de pectinase (Clarex) a 0,6 % v/p de invertase (Invertase-S) e 0,5 % p/p de glicose-isomerase (Taka-sweet) sobre purê de banana (Musa cavendishii), em condições amenas de hidrólise (40o C, 15 min.) foi observado e comparado com o efeito de outros três tratamentos enzimáticos: 0,03 % v/p de pectinase (Clarex); 0,03 % v/p de pectinase (Clarex) associada à 0,6 % v/p de invertase (Invertase-S); e 0,03 % v/p de pectinase (Sigma) associada a 0,03 % v/p de celulase (Sigma), visando determinar a qualidade representada por um conjunto de propriedades físicas, fisico-químicas, químicas, microbiológicas e sensoriais dos sucos de banana obtidos. Essas propriedades não diferiram significativamente em função das pectinases e celulase empregadas. A adição de invertase provocou aumento de doçura e diminuição da viscosidade do suco. Por outro lado, a adição de glicose isomerase ao suco invertido não foi capaz de aumentar significativamente o teor de frutose. The association of 0,03 % v/w pectinase (Clarex), 0,6 % v/w invertase (Invertase-S) and 0,5 % w/w glucose isomerase (Taka-sweet) in industrialized banana (Musa cavendishii) pulp, under conditions of hydrolysis 40oC, 15 minutes, was observed and compared to other three enzymatic treatements: 0,03 % v/w pectinase (Clarex); 0,03 % v/w pectinase (Clarex) associated to 0,6 % v/w invertase (Invertase-S); and 0,03 % v/w pectinase (Sigma) associated to 0,03 % cellulase (Sigma) to determine the quality using a group of physical, physico-chemical, chemical, microbiological and sensory properties of the banana juices obtained. These properties had not differ significantly in function of pectinases and celulase employed. The addition of invertase had increased sweetness and decreased viscosity in juice. On the other side, the addition of glucose isomerase in inverted juice was not able in increasing significantly fructose content.

This paper reflects on the contributions of Jacques Derrida (1930-2004), related to Philosophy and Literature as an attempt to understand important concepts such as written language, illegibility, game, forgiveness, and mainly, notions of relevance and fidelity in translation. The theoretical framework of this paper includes excerpts from Grammatology (1976 [1999]), and articles and essays, among them What Is a ‘Relevant’ Translation? ([2001] 2000), in which we will see Derrida’s philosophical concerns and issues of almost an untranslatable nature, as an event underlying human language. Busca-se refletir, nesta exposição, acerca das contribuições do pensamento de Jacques Derrida (1930-2004), a herança teórica do autor associada à Filosofia e à Literatura, na tentativa de compreender importantes conceitos, como escritura, ilegibilidade, jogo, perdão e, sobretudo, noções de relevância e de fidelidade em tradução. Parte-se, para tanto, de excertos do livro intitulado Gramatologia (1999) e de artigos e ensaios críticos, dentre eles, O que é uma tradução ‘relevante’? (2000), nos quais observa-se as preocupações filosóficas do pensador franco-argelino e a questão da quase intraduzibilidade, como um acontecimento da linguagem humana.

This work aimed to study the influence of the initial chemical composition (glucans, lignin, xylan, and mannans), intrinsic viscosity, and carboxylate groups of pulps on the production process and final properties of lignocellulosic nanofibers (LCNF). Pulps of pine sawdust, eucalyptus sawdust, and sugarcane bagasse subjected to conventional pulping and highly oxidized processes were the starting materials. The LCNF were obtained by TEMPO mediated oxidation and mechanical fibrillation with a colloidal grinder. The nanofibrillation degree, chemical charge content, rheology, laser profilometry, cristallinity and atomic force microscopy were used to characterize the LCNF. The carboxylate groups, hemicelluloses and lignin of the initial pulps were important factors that affected the production process of LCNF. The results revealed that intrinsic viscosity and carboxylate groups of the initial pulps affected LCNF production process, whereas lignin and hemicelluloses influenced the viscosity of LCNF aqueous suspensions, the roughness of LCNF films, and the carboxylate groups content of LCNF. No cinema de Philippe Grandrieux, o interesse em valorizar a presença da figura humana coexiste com um espaço pictórico crepuscular, na iminência de desaparecer na escuridão. Cria-se um regime aparentemente contraditório: o corpo ganha peso, materialidade, apesar do risco de sua diluição na imagem. Tendo isso em vista, o artigo discute como a modulação do negrume contribui para a sublimação visual e a restituição sensorial da figura humana em seus filmes, com foco em Sombra (Sombre, 1998) e mais brevemente em White epilepsy (2012). A partir do cotejo com as artes plásticas, sobretudo com obras de Pablo Picasso e de Paul Cézanne, busca-se pensar as particularidades de um programa que evoca o corpo a partir das sugestões espaciais e da circularidade na imagem.palavras-chave: figura humana; sombra; presença; cinema; pintura AbstractIn Philippe Grandrieux’s cinema, the interest in representing the presence of human figure coexists with a twilight pictorial space on the brink of fading into darkness. Therefore, we recognize a contradictory situation: the body gets materiality in spite of his possibility of dissolves in the image. In view of the above, the paper aims to discuss how the shadow contributes to a visual sublimation and a sensory restitution of human figure in Grandrieux’s cinema, especially in Sombre (1998) and briefly in White epilepsy (2012). Therefore, we recognize a contradictory situation: the body gets materiality in spite of his possibility of dissolves in the image. In view of the above, the paper aims to discuss how the shadow contributes to a visual sublimation and a sensory restitution of human figure in Grandrieux’s cinema, especially in Sombre(1998) and briefly in White epilepsy (2012). resumo O artigo pretende caracterizar a relação entre espectadores e imagens e, para tanto, utiliza as figuras paradigmáticas de Narciso, Medusa e Pigmalião, que são, rotineiramente, utilizadas para falar de imagens. Frequentemente, Narciso é associado à autorrepresentação; Medusa à fotografia e à morte, e Pigmalião ao simulacro. No entanto, numa breve nota de rodapé, W. J. T. Mitchell associa essas figuras mitológicas aos "efeitos" que as imagens provocam nos espectadores, acepção que denuncia uma dada relação entre espectadores e imagens. É esse o ângulo adoptado nesta análise, que procura, então, expandir a referência de Mitchell e assumir que os três mitos contêm os elementos principais que caracterizam a relação entre espectadores e imagens. abstract The paper aims to characterize the relation between spectators and images and, therefore, uses the mythological figures of Narcissus, Pygmalion and Medusa, routinely used to talk about pictures. Often, Narcissus is associated with self-representation; Medusa with photography and death and Pygmalion with the simulacrum. However, in a brief footnote, W.J.T. Mitchell talks about the "effects" that images provoke in viewers, establishing a relationship between spectators, images and these three paradigmatic figures. This paper proposes to expand Mitchell´s view and assume that the three myths contain the main elements to follow the relationship between spectators and images.

Para avaliar a deposição e as perdas de calda nas aplicações de produtos fitossanitários, na maioria dos casos são utilizados traçadores. Entretanto, não há consenso sobre qual é o traçador mais adequado para cada tipo de aplicação. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o uso de alguns compostos químicos empregados como traçadores, buscando selecionar os mais adequados aos estudos de deposição e perda de produtos fitossanitários. Os traçadores utilizados foram: azul brilhante, blankophor, fluoresceína sódica, rodamina B e sulfoflavina brilhante; as concentrações usadas foram: 1.000, 20, 15, 50 e 1.000 ppm, respectivamente. A quantificação do azul brilhante foi feita por espectrofotometria, e a dos demais, por espectrofluorimetria. Os filtros de excitação e emissão do fluorímetro variaram de acordo com o traçador. No espectrofotômetro, utilizou-se o comprimento de onda de 630 nm. As características avaliadas nas soluções contendo os traçadores foram: tensão superficial, pH, viscosidade, extração em alvos de papel filtrante e estabilidade à luz solar e à agitação. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e, constatada diferença significativa, aplicou-se teste de médias e regressão. Entre as características físico-químicas, somente a viscosidade não foi influenciada pelos traçadores. A maior eficiência de extração em alvo de papel foi obtida pela sulfoflavina brilhante, que, juntamente com o azul brilhante, demonstrou ser o traçador mais estável à luz solar. O blankophor foi o traçador que teve menor estabilidade à agitação da calda. A sulfoflavina brilhante mostrou ser o traçador mais adequado aos estudos de deposição de calda e deriva nas aplicações de produtos fitossanitários. Entre os traçadores de baixo custo e maior disponibilidade no Brasil, o corante fluorescente rodamina B mostrou ser a melhor opção ao se utilizar como alvo papel filtrante. Tracers are used to evaluate pesticide spray deposition and loss; however, optimal tracers for specific applications have not yet been defined. Therefore, this study was aimed at evaluating various tracers and determining the best compound for assessing pesticide spray deposition and loss. We evaluated brilliant b1ue, blankophor, sodium fluorescein, rhodamine B and brilliant sulfoflavine at 1,000, 20, 15, 50, 1,000 ppm, respectively. Brilliant blue was evaluated by spectrophotometry (630 nm wavelength) and the other tracers by spectrofluorometry. The specific excitation and emission filters that were used in spectrofluorometry varied by tracer type. Surface tension, pH, filter paper extraction, sunlight stability, and agitation stability were evaluated. The data were examined by variance analyses and the significant differences were submitted to average tests and regression. Viscosity was the only physical-chemical that was not affected by the tracer type. Brilliant sulfoflavine had the highest extraction efficiency, brilliant sulfoflavine and Brilliant Blue were the most stable in sunlight, and blankophor had the lowest agitation stability. Brilliant sulfoflavine was the most appropriate for pesticide spray deposition and drift assessment. Rhodamine B showed to be the best option for filter paper targets among the low-cost tracers available in Brazil.

RESUMO Este artigo aborda o fiar como devir nas obras de Judith Scott (1943-2005), artista trissômica, iletrada e inábil para a linguagem verbal. O intento é examinar a índole intuitiva e a temporalidade - a formatividade prioriza o processo ao produto. A temporalidade será abordada a partir da filosofia bergsoniana. Frequentemente, expressões ínsitas são sufocadas pelo conhecimento teórico, por “ideias muito possuídas”, em termos pontyanos. Deduzir aleatoriedade é um equívoco, orientado pela generalidade. Considerando o ineditismo da pesquisa sobre a estadunidense no Brasil, esta reflexão contribui com a diversidade de perspectivas sobre processos de saber artístico e com a consolidação da fortuna crítica, além de proporcionar uma discussão sobre a possibilidade de pensar a arte a partir de uma perspectiva fenomenológica. ABSTRACT This paper approaches spinning as becoming in the works of Judith Scott (1943-2005), an illiterate trisomic artist incapable of verbal language. The intent is to examine the intuitive nature and the temporality - the formativity prioritizes the process over the product. The temporality will be approached from the Bergsonian philosophy. Frequently, innate expressions are smothered by theoretical knowledge, by “very possessed ideas”, in Merleau-Ponty terms. Thus, deducing randomness is a mistake, guided by generality. Considering the originality of research on this American artist in Brazil, this reflection contributes to the diversity of perspectives on artistic processes and to the consolidation of critical fortune, in addition to providing a discussion on the possibility of considering art from a phenomenological perspective. RESUMEN Este artículo aborda el hilar como devenir en las obras de Judith Scott (1943-2005), artista trisómica, iletrada e inhábil para el lenguaje verbal. El intento es examinar la índole intuitiva y la temporalidad - la formatividad no prioriza el producto sino que el proceso. La temporalidad se abordará desde la filosofía bergsoniana. Frecuentemente, expresiones inherentes son ahogadas por el conocimiento teórico, por "ideas muy poseídas", en términos pontyanos. Deducir aleatoriedad es un equívoco, orientado por la generalidad. Partiendo del ineditismo en Brasil de la pesquisa acerca de la artista estadounidense, esta reflexión contribuye con la diversidad de perspectivas acerca de procesos de saber artístico y la consolidación de la fortuna crítica, además de discutir la posibilidad de pensar el arte desde una perspectiva fenomenológica.

RESUMO Este artigo analisa a obra de Eva Hesse sem recair nos vícios que parte da crítica de arte e da historiografia reproduzem ao abordar obras de arte feitas por mulheres. Isso é feito mostrando como as obras de Eva Hesse corroboram uma ideia de gesto livre, do gesto como sua intencionalidade, uma forma de vestígio de corpo, de presença. Por meio dos conceitos de índice, repetição e gesto, traçamos diferenças entre a artista e seus contemporâneos, enfatizando os movimentos aos quais sua obra é tradicionalmente associada: o minimalismo e a arte conceitual. ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the work of Eva Hesse without falling into the habits that part of art criticism and historiography reproduce when approaching works of art made by women. This is done by showing how the works of Eva Hesse corroborate with an idea of free gesture, of gesture as their own intentionality, a form of body trace, of presence. Through the concepts of index, repetition and gesture, we draw differences between the artist and her contemporaries, emphasizing the movements to which her work is traditionally associated: Minimalism and Conceptual Art. Eso es realizado planteando como las obras de Eva Hesse corroboran una idea de gesto libre, del gesto como su intencionalidad, una forma de vestigio del cuerpo, de presencia. A través de los conceptos de índice, repetición y gesto, trazamos las diferencias entre la artista y sus contemporáneos, subrayando los movimientos a los cuales su obra es tradicionalmente asociada: el minimalismo y el arte conceptual.

RESUMO O artigo apresenta o conceito “função-historiador” como modelo possível de autoria de uma arte da memória. Elaborado por meio de uma modulação da função-artista, de Peter Osborne, e da análise do projeto Grupo Atlas, prática artística de Walid Raad sobre as guerras civis libanesas, o termo é desenvolvido como contraposição ao modelo crítico de artista-testemunha, predominantemente utilizado nas mediações de práticas artísticas sobre conflitos políticos recentes. O enfrentamento entre essas propostas se faz a partir do distanciamento entre o sujeito-artista e uma posição de autoria artística. Essa separação permite investigar outros formatos de apresentação do artista como parte de sua produção e verificar novas abordagens dos vínculos autobiográficos e identitários nas produções artísticas contemporâneas. ABSTRACT This paper presents the concept of function-historian as a possible model for authorship of an art of memory. Elaborated based on a modulation of Peter Osborne’s artist-function and the analysis of The Atlas Group project, Walid Raad’s artistic practice on the Lebanese civil wars, the term is developed as a counter position to the critical model of artist-as-witness, predominantly used in the mediations of artistic practices on recent political conflicts. The confrontation between these two proposals is based on the distance between the subject-artist and a position of artistic authorship. This separation allows the investigation of other formats of presentation of the artist as part of his production and to verify new approaches to autobiographical and identity bonds in contemporary artistic productions. RESUMEN Este artículo presenta el concepto función-historiador como modelo de autoría de un arte de la memoria. Este concepto, elaborado a partir de la modulación de la función-artista, de Peter Osborne, y del análisis del proyecto Grupo Atlas, práctica artística de Walid Raad sobre las guerras civiles libanesas, se presenta como contrapunto al modelo crítico de artista-testigo, predominantemente utilizado en la mediación de prácticas artísticas en conflictos políticos actuales. El confronto entre estas propuestas se realiza desde la distancia entre el sujeto-artista y una postura de autoría artística. Esa separación nos permite analizar otros formatos de presentación del artista como parte de su producción, así como verificar nuevos acercamientos a los lazos autobiográficos e identitarios en las producciones artísticas contemporáneas.

Contudo, apesar de problemática, estudos relacionados com o mecanismo de propagação e persistência dessa espécie em ambiente aquático são bastante escassos no Brasil. Dessa forma, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar diferentes métodos de superação de dormência em sementes desta planta daninha aquática coletadas na Lagoa Vírgula, localizada no rio Tietê-SP. As sementes coletadas foram divididas em dois lotes, sendo um constituído por sementes acondicionadas em um recipiente contendo água destilada e o outro por sementes acondicionadas em sacos de papel em condições de câmara fria (16,8 ºC). Após 650 dias da coleta das sementes, foram realizados os testes de superação de dormência, utilizando os seguintes tratamentos: escarificação manual; imersão em ácido sulfúrico concentrado (98%) por 5, 15, 25 e 35 minutos; imersão em água quente (98 ºC); e testemunha A, constituída pelo lote de sementes acondicionadas em um recipiente contendo água destilada, e uma testemunha B, constituída pelo lote de sementes acondicionadas em saco de papel. Os resultados demonstraram que a espécie C. demersum produz sementes férteis e podem permanecer viáveis no sedimento por vários anos após a fecundação. A escarificação das sementes foi o método mais eficaz na superação da dormência, sendo significativamente superior aos demais tratamentos e apresentando 65,0% de germinação aos 79 DAT. Ficou evidente a necessidade de realização de mais estudos para determinação de uma metodologia mais adequada à avaliação de dormência em sementes de C. demersum. Ceratophyllum demersum is prominent among the several immersed aquatic weeds that proliferate in the reservoirs of hydroelectric power plants due to its great reproduction capacity and biomass production. Despite this problem, studies related to the propagation mechanism and persistence of that species in aquatic ecosystems are quite scarce in Brazil. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate different methods of seeds dormancy break of the aquatic weed C. demersum collected at Vírgula Pond in Tietê River-SP Brazil. The collected seeds were grouped into two lots, one constituted by seeds in a container with distilled water and the other by seeds in paper bags under cold camera conditions (16.8 ºC). Tests of dormancy break were accomplished 650 days after seed collection using the following treatments: I) Scarification, II) Immersion in concentrated sulfuric acid (98%) for 5, 15, 25 and 35 minutes, III) Immersion in hot water (98 ºC) and IV) Control A (seeds in a container with distilled water) and Control B (seeds in paper bags). The results showed that the species C. demersum produces fertile seeds which can remain viable in the sediment for several years after fecundity. Seed scarification was the most effective method for dormancy break, significantly outdoing the other treatments and providing 65.0% of germination at 79 DAT. Further studies are needed to determine an appropriate methodology for seed dormancy break evaluation of C. demersum. Com o objetivo de avaliar metodologia de laboratório para análise da tolerância de cultivares de soja ao herbicida sulfentrazone, foi conduzido um ensaio na Universidade Estadual de Londrina. Foi utilizado o teste-padrão de germinação com a modificação da solução de embebição, com os cultivares Coodetec 206 e Coodetec 207, considerados tolerante e sensível, respectivamente, ao herbicida sulfentrazone, em campo. Foram preparadas concentrações de 25, 50, 100 e 250 mg L-1 do herbicida sulfentrazone e a solução-padrão com água destilada como testemunha. O papel-toalha foi embebido com solução de sulfentrazone em volume equivalente a três vezes o peso do papel. As unidades experimentais foram rolos de papel, contendo 50 sementes, com quatro repetições, que permaneceram em germinador a 25 ºC por cinco dias, na presença de luz durante o dia. Após esse período foram avaliados o comprimento do hipocótilo, o comprimento da raiz, o comprimento total e o peso das plântulas, em todos os tratamentos. Foi utilizado delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, e o procedimento estatístico adotado foi o esquema fatorial 2 (cultivares) x 5 (doses), utilizando o teste de Tukey a 5% de probabilidade para comparação das médias. A concentração de 250 mg L-1 de sulfentrazone causou intensa injúria às plântulas, não sendo possível detectar diferenças entre os cultivares. Entretanto, a solução com concentração de 50 mg L-1 de sulfentrazone evidenciou nitidamente a diferença entre os cultivares quanto à tolerância e à sensibilidade, quando utilizado o comprimento do hipocótilo, o comprimento das raízes e o comprimento total de plântulas como características diferenciais, sendo mais evidente a diferença entre os cultivares analisando-se o comprimento do hipocótilo. O teste-padrão de germinação modificado foi adequado para analisar a tolerância dos cultivares de soja ao herbicida sulfentrazone. This experiment was conducted at the State University of Londrina to evaluate laboratory methodology for determining soybean cultivar tolerance to the herbicide sulfentrazone. A modified germination test was evaluated using different solutions of the herbicide as moistening agent. The soybean cultivars Coodetec 206 and Coodetec 207, considered tolerant and sensitive to the herbicide, were evaluated. Solutions of the herbicide with 25, 50, 100 and 250 mg L-1 concentrations were prepared and compared to a control with distilled water. The paper towel was imbibed with the different solutions at a volume equivalent to three times the weight of the dry paper. An experimental unit consisted of single rolled paper towels, each containing 50 seeds, which were incubated in a germinator at 25 ºC for five days, with light being supplied during the day. Hypocotyl, radicle and seedling lengths as well as seedling weight were determined for all the treatments. A completely randomized design in a factorial scheme (2 cultivars x 5 concentrations) was used. The Tukey test at 5% probability was used for mean comparison. The solution with 250 mg L-1 sulfentrazone caused severe injury to the seedlings rendering it impossible to detect any differences between the cultivars. However, the solution with 50 mg L-1 sulfentrazone was the most effective in characterizing the cultivars as tolerant or sensitive, based on the hypocotyl, radicle and seedling lengths. Hypocotyl length was the most effective parameter for characterizing cultivar tolerance to the herbicide. It was concluded that the modified germination test evaluated in the experiment was adequate for determining soybean cultivar tolerance to the herbicide sulfentrazone.

A manutenção da viabilidade das sementes é muito influenciada pelas condições de armazenamento. No caso das plantas daninhas, essa informação pode servir como suporte para a realização de outras pesquisas e também ajudar na compreensão da dinâmica das infestações. Neste trabalho, a viabilidade das sementes da planta daninha erva-de-touro (Tridax procumbens) foi monitorada durante dois anos, quando armazenadas em câmara fria (temperatura de 10 ºC e umidade relativa de 50%), em congelador (-18 ºC), em armazém convencional (condições não controladas) e no solo. Quando armazenado em câmara fria (em sacos de papel) e em congelador (em tubos plásticos herméticos), o lote de sementes mantém a viabilidade inicial (70,5%) por no mínimo 730 dias (período experimental). No solo, ocorre perda de viabilidade com o tempo, numa taxa constante de 8,2% para cada 100 dias. Em armazém convencional, a viabilidade das sementes (em sacos de papel) é mantida por 200 dias, com redução acentuada entre 300 e 500 dias, chegando ao final de 730 dias com 2,8% de viabilidade. Em nenhuma das formas de armazenamento há indução de dormência secundária nas sementes. Seed viability is strongly influenced by storage conditions. In weeds, this information may serve as support for other research works and help to understand infestation dynamics as well. This work, conducted at Universidade Federal de Lavras, was carried out to evaluate the viability of coat button (Tridax procumbens) seeds stored in cold chamber ( temperature of 10 ºC and relative humidity of 50%), in freezer (-18 ºC), conventional warehouse (uncontrolled conditions) and soil, over 2 years. Seed lot with 70.5% initial viability, maintained this condition over the experimental period (730 days) when stored in cold chamber (in paper bags) and in freezer (in airtight plastic tubes). Under soil conditions, viability loss occurred with time, at a constant rate of 8.2% at every 100 days. In a conventional warehouse, seed lot viability (in paper bag) was maintained for 200 days but there was a fast reduction between 300 and 500 days, and at the 730 days end only 2.8% of the seeds were viable. In none of the storage forms, there was induction of secondary dormancy in seeds.

Este artículo pretende analizar la obra Mort Cinder, historieta creada por el escritor argentino Héctor Germán Oesterheld y dibujada por el artista uruguayo-argentino Alberto Breccia. Se aborda la construcción narrativa de esta historieta, en la cual el protagonista, un héroe inmortal, es creado por el autor cómo alegoría del tiempo. Este enfoque pone de manifiesto la influencia de Jorge Luis Borges en los relatos fantásticos, género discutido por la teórica Rosalba Campra. Por último, se analiza la poética artística de Breccia, quien introduce en las páginas de Mort Cinder una experimentación gráfica centrada en la representación del suspenso, de lo insólito, del miedo, de lo siniestro y de lo fantástico. Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar Mort Cinder, história em quadrinho criada pelo escritor argentino Héctor Germán Oesterheld e ilustrada pelo artista uruguaio-argentino Alberto Breccia. A pesquisa aborda a construção narrativa dessa historieta, na qual o protagonista, um herói imortal, é criado pelo autor como reflexo alegórico do tempo. Esta abordagem traz à tona a influência de Jorge Luis Borges sobre as narrativas fantásticas, gênero discutido pela teórica Rosalba Campra. Por fim, investiga-se a poética artística de Breccia, que introduz nas páginas de Mort Cinder uma experimentação gráfica voltada à representação do suspense, do insólito, do medo, do sinistro e do fantástico. This article aims to analyze Mort Cinder, a comic book written by the Argentinian screenwriter Héctor Germán Oesterheld and illustrated by Uruguayan-Argentine artist Alberto Breccia. The study approaches the narrative construction of the historieta, in which the protagonist, an immortal hero, is created by the author as an allegorical reflection of time. This approach brings forth Jorge Luis Borges’ influences on fantastic narratives, a genre debated by the researcher Rosalba Campra. Finally, this paper investigates Breccia’s artistic poetics, which introduces into the pages of Mort Cinder a graphic experimentation turned to the representation of suspense, the unfamiliar, fear, the sinister and the fantastic.

A pulverização do oxyfluorfen foi realizada com o auxílio de um pulverizador, e sua veiculação foi feita através da determinação prévia da capacidade de embebição do papel. Obteve-se a concentração necessária da calda quando o papel atingiu completa embebição e então, escorrido o excesso, foi posto a secar na sombra. O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado, com cinco repetições. Foram realizadas avaliações aos 30, 45 e 60 dias após a aplicação (DAA), e os resultados indicaram que os métodos de aplicação utilizados, assim como as doses, apresentaram excelente controle de B. pilosa, D. tortuosum, E. indica S. rhombifolia, D. horizontalis e A. retroflexus até 60 DAA, reduzindo tanto a densidade como o acúmulo de matéria seca. Quanto ao A. hispidum, ambos os métodos e doses não proporcionaram bom controle. Foi observado também que o papel utilizado como veículo do oxyfluorfen proporcionou redução na densidade de B. pilosa, E. indica, D. horizontalis e A. retroflexus e promoveu a germinação de S. rhombifolia e A. hispidum quando da avaliação aos DAA. Estes resultados demonstram a viabilidade de utilização de papel como veículo de aplicação do oxyfluorfen. A greenhouse assay was conducted to evaluate na alternative method for applying oxyfluorfen to control annual weeds. The experiment was in 3 x 2 factorial, in a completely randomized design, with three replications. The factors were: three doses of oxyfluorfen (0, 480 and 960g/ha) and two methods to apply the herbicide to the soil surface (sprayed or soaked in paper sheet). The weeds studied were Bidens pilosa, Desmodium tortuosum, Eleusine indica, Sida rhombifolia, Amaranthus retroflexus, Acanthospermum hispidum and Digitaria horizontalis. Weed control was evaluated at 30, 45 and 60 days after the herbicide application (DAA). The application methods, as well as the doses showed excellent control of B. pilosa, D. tortuosum, E. indica, S. rhombifolia, D. horizontalis and A. retroflexus up to 60 DAA, reducing the density as well as the dry matter surplus. on A. hispidum, both methods and doses did not show good control. It was also observed that the paper utilized as the oxyfluorfen vehicle produced density reduction in B. pilosa, E. indica, D. horizontalis and A. retroflexus and induced the germination of S. rhombifolia and A. hispidum when evaluated at 60 DAA. The occurrence of peripheral neuropathy (PNP) is often observed in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients with a prevalence up to 55%, leading to more prominent functional deficits. Motor assessment with mobile health technologies allows high sensitivity and accuracy and is widely adopted in PD, but scarcely used for PNP assessments. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the methodologies and the most relevant features to investigate PNP and PD motor deficits with wearables. Because of the lack of studies investigating motor impairments in this specific subset of PNP-PD patients, Pubmed, Scopus, and Web of Science electronic databases were used to summarize the state of the art on PNP motor assessment with wearable technology and compare it with the existing evidence on PD. A total of 24 papers on PNP and 13 on PD were selected for data extraction: The main characteristics were described, highlighting major findings, clinical applications, and the most relevant features. The information from both groups (PNP and PD) was merged for defining future directions for the assessment of PNP-PD patients with wearable technology. We established suggestions on the assessment protocol aiming at accurate patient monitoring, targeting personalized treatments and strategies to prevent falls and to investigate PD and PNP motor characteristics. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

El artículo ubica las obras televisivas de Samuel Beckett en relación con la idea de autonomía de los medios artísticos. Em primer lugar, se señala una forma de trabajar en el ámbito de la producción televisiva similar a aquellas empleadas por Beckett en otros medios (teatro, prosa, radio): la crítica a las convenciones de cada uno de los géneros (drama, romance, película televisiva) y el desarollo de los medios de producción. En ese sentido, el texto destaca las condiciones de trabajo disponibles en los estúdios de Süddeutscher Rundfunk, en Stuttgart, y, finalmente, propone el análisis de dos obras para televisión: Eh Joe y …but the clouds…. The paper discusses Samuel Beckett’s television plays in connection to the autonomy of means of artistic production. It points out a set of similarities between Beckett’s work with the television medium and with other media (theater, prose, radio): a critique of each genre convention (drama, novel, television film) and the development of the means of production. In this context, the article highlights the working conditions available to the artist at the Süddeutscher Rundfunk, in Stuttgart, and proposes an analysis of two television plays: Eh Joe and …but the clouds…. Adotando os procedimentos metodológicos da teorização de fontes (FARIA FILHO, 1997a; NUNES, 2005) e dialogando com a historiografia da educação imperial, o artigo tem por objetivo identificar e apontar as características e possibilidades da documentação existente no Arquivo Histórico da Câmara dos Deputados, em Brasília (DF), com vistas à produção de fontes para o estudo da história da instrução elementar no Brasil Império. Detêm-se cronologicamente nos anos de 1826 a 1834, fase da centralização do ensino elementar imperial. As conclusões apontam para a hipótese de que da documentação custodiada no Arquivo Histórico da Câmara dos Deputados emerge um duplo testemunho para a pesquisa sobre a história da escolarização no Império: de uma parte, as diferentes atitudes políticas em torno da escola e da escolarização da infância no país, mediadas por agentes políticos designados representantes da nação; de outra parte, a partir das referências aos contextos concretos vivenciados no país à época — particularmente de professores e outras pessoas envolvidas diretamente com o mundo da escola —, sentidos e significados sobre a história da educação na fase da centralização do ensino elementar, pouco observados até o momento, mas que podem vir a ser mais bem evidenciados pelo estudo do tipo de escola e escolarização que ali se vinha produzindo. By adopting the methodological procedures of the theorization of sources (FARIA FILHO, 1997a; NUNES, 2005) and analyzing the historiography of imperial education, this paper aimed at identifying and pointing out the characteristics and possibilities of the existing documentation of the Historical Archives of the Chamber of Deputies, in Brasília (DF), aiming to produce sources for the study of the history of elementary education in the imperial period of Brazil. Chronologically, it covers the period between 1826 and 1834, that is, the phase of centralization of the imperial elementary education. The conclusions pointed out the hypothesis that the documents kept in the Historical Archives of the Chamber of Deputies unveil a dual testimony to the research on the history of education in the Empire: on the one hand, the different political attitudes concerning the child education and school in the country, mediated by political agents designated as representatives of the nation; on the other hand, based on the references to the concrete contexts experienced in the country at that time — particularly in relation to teachers and other people directly involved with the universe of school — the meanings and senses regarding the history of education in the phase of centralization of elementary education, little observed so far, but that may be better evidenced by the study on the type of school and education that was then produced Adoptando los procedimientos metodológicos de la teorización de fuentes (FARIA FILHO, 1997a; NUNES, 2005) y dialogando con la historiografía de la educación imperial, el artículo tiene por objetivo identificar y apuntar las características y posibilidades de la documentación existente en el Archivo Histórico de la Cámara de Diputados, en Brasilia (DF) con vistas a la producción de fuentes para el estudio de la historia de la instrucción elemental en Brasil Imperio. Este artigo trata da proposta apresentada por Morris Weitz de que não é possível definir arte em termos de condições necessárias e suficientes. Ele sustenta que as teorias em estética, ao buscarem uma definição que capture a essência da arte, tentam definir o que não pode ser definido. Este artigo mostra que o argumento de Weitz – centrado no uso do conceito de arte como “conceito aberto” e na análise da extensão do termo “arte” – é refutável por objeções que envolvem a noção de “semelhança de família”. Além disso, aponta-se duas perspectivas para o debate sobre a possibilidade de definir arte: uma que retoma a posição de Weitz e outra que propõe definições nos termos negados por ele. This paper analyzes Morris Weitz’s claim that art cannot possibly be defined in terms of necessary and sufficient conditions. Weitz argues that aesthetic theories, since they seek a definition that captures the essence of art, attempt to define what cannot be defined. This paper demonstrates that Weitz’s argument, which is centered on the use of the concept of art as an open concept and on the analysis of the extension of the term “art,” is refuted by objections that involve the notion of family resemblance. In addition, this paper points out two perspectives regarding the debate as to whether art can be defined: one that retakes Weitz’s position, and another that proposes definitions in terms denied by him.&nbsp

This paper aims to discuss the relevance of Cubism for Clement Greenberg's vision of Modernism, based on the analysis of essays and critical texts published by him over more than three decades in which the unity of the pictorial surface – understood by the critic as one of the essential features of modern painting, besides its flatness – is identified with the cubist plastic thinking. Este artigo busca discutir a relevância do Cubismo para a concepção de Modernismo elaborada pelo crítico de arte norte-americano Clement Greenberg a partir da análise de ensaios e textos críticos publicados por ele ao longo de mais de três décadas, nos quais transparece a identificação da unidade do plano pictórico – entendida pelo crítico como uma das características mais essenciais da pintura moderna, ao lado da planaridade – com o pensamento plástico cubista.

Resumo O presente artigo aborda as temporalidades das imagens da coluna Garotas do Alceu da revista O Cruzeiro. As pin-ups ilustradas por Alceu Penna para a coluna Garotas foram imagens permeadas de publicidades, comportamentos, morais e modas em voga em seu tempo histórico de produção. Contudo, segundo Georges Didi-Huberman, a imagem pertence ao tempo. Tempos múltiplos, impuros, heterogêneos, dialéticos, anacrônicos também perpassam as imagens da coluna em questão. Nas páginas que seguem as Garotas do Alceu, as pin-ups, foram também analisadas como ninfas modernas que associam o belo ao trauma. Entre as Garotas e as ninfas, as apresentações de Salomé e das cabeças decapitadas foram aqui destacadas e analisadas. Abstract The paper addresses the temporalities of images from the column Garotas of Alceu in the the pin-ups illustrated by Penna to the magazine were images surrounded by advertisements, behavior, morals and fashions in vogue in its historical production time. However, according to Georges Didi-Huberman, the image belongs to time. Multiple, impure, heterogenic, dialectic, anachronic times also permeate the images in study. The Garotas of Alceu (Girls of Alceu), pin-ups, were analyzed modern nymphs that associate beauty to trauma. Between the girls and the nymphs, the presentations of Salome and of the decapitated heads were here highlighted and analyzed.

Introduction The pancreas is a rare metastization site for renal cell carcinoma (RCC); this paper reports a rare presentation of metastatic RCC, of obstructive jaundice secondary to a solitary synchronous pancreatic metastasis; the authors review the existing literature on pancreatic metastization of RCC in what concerns etiopathogenesis, clinics and therapeutic options. Clinical case A 53-year-old man was referenced to consultation for complains of weakness, dyspepsia, back pain, choluria, weight loss and jaundice; image exams revealed a single lesion on the head of the pancreas and a tumour in the left kidney; after elective pancreaticoduodenectomy and radical nephrectomy, histology revealed a RCC, and a metastatic lesion with endoluminal growth in Wirsung duct; the follow-up was uneventful with no evidence of recurrence at 6 months. Discussion Pancreatic metastization of RCC tend to occur many years after nephrectomy; computerize tomography imaging is the method of choice for its characterization; the R0 resection provide the longest disease-free survival possible; any patient with solitary metastatic RCC in the pancreas should be a candidate for complete surgical excision if technically feasible, for palliation and prognostic reasons.

RESUMO Este texto pretende fazer uma reflexão sobre a pintura contemporânea, que se destaca por ficar no limite entre dois conceitos clássicos da arte moderna: "figurativo" e "abstrato". O artigo baseia-se em autores da teoria da arte moderna (como Clement Greenberg e Leo Steinberg) da filosofia (como Jacques Rancière), da teoria da arte contemporânea (como Anne Cauquelin) e nos escritos do pintor alemão Gerhard Richter. ABSTRACT This text aims to reflect on contemporary painting that stands out for being on the borderline between two classic concepts of modern art: "figurative" and "abstract." The paper is based on authors from the theory of modern art (such as Clement Greenberg and Leo Steinberg), from philosophy (such as Jacques Rancière), from the theory of contemporary art (such as Anne Cauquelin) and from writings by the German painter Gerhard Richter.

Neste artigo, Hal Foster nos narra o que ele chama da "vingança do capitalismo contra o pós-modernismo" por intermédio do design. Partindo do Art Nouveau, que nos anos 2000 voltou à moda como objeto de exposições e estudos, ele compara este estilo ao design total de nossos dias, tomando como exemplo principal o designer Bruce Mau. Do fordismo ao consumismo, as modulações que levaram à expansão de um tipo de design em detrimento da subjetividade são a base para a argumentação de Foster em favor das distinções que "dão margem de manobra à cultura". In this paper, Hal Foster gives us an account of what he calls the "revenge of capitalism on postmodernism" through design. Beginning with the renewed interest of the years 2000 in Art Nouveau, which resulted in exhibitions and studies, he compares this style with the total design of our days, of which Bruce Mau is his main example. From Fordism to consumerism, the shifts that led to the expansion of a kind of design and to the loss of subjectivity underlie Foster's claim for distinctions that "provide culture with running-room".

Este texto faz uma síntese dos eventos Ser poeta: Lupe Cotrim, 40 anos depois, promovidos pelo Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros da Universidade de São Paulo (IEB-USP), em março de 2010. Além de um seminário sobre obra e vida da "professora-poeta", os eventos desdobraram-se em uma exposição com peças de seu acervo, recentemente incorporado pelo IEB, e num recital, com a primeira apresentação de canções compostas por Almeida Prado sobre poemas da autora.This paper presents a résumé of the events Being poet: Lupe Corim, 40 years afterwards, promoted by Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros of Universidade de São Paulo (IEB-USP) in March 2010. Beyond a seminar about the life and work of the teacher and poetess, the events had included an exposition of her private records' pieces, recently incorporated into the Archives of the IEB; and a recital that had presented the première of songs recently composed by Almeida Prado on some Lupe Cotrim's poems.

The localization of the xanthine oxidase (X.O.) and xanthine dehydrogenase (X.D.) activities in rat liver have been studied using separation of cytoplasmic particles into fractions by differential centrifugation. The results clearly demonstrate that practically all the enzymic activity is present in the supernatant fluid corresponding to the cell sap containing the soluble proteins of the cell. No activity could be detected for the nuclear, mitocondrial and microsomal fractions. The enzymatic activity of the mixture of the four factions was 102 per cent of that of the original homogenate. The distribution of the xanthine dehydrogenase in the protein fractions of the rat serum was accomplished in preliminary experiments by means of 50% ammonium sulphate precipitation and subsequent dialysis against water. All enzymatic activity was confined to the globulin fractions of the serum. Paper electrophoresis was performed and the protein and lipoprotein fractions determined. A method for the localization of the X.D. activity in the protein fractions separated by paper electrophoresis was developed. The results obtained suggest that xanthine dehydrogenase is localized in the globulin fractions possessing mobilities of [alpha 1], [beta] and [gamma] globulins and are probably bound to the lipoproteins.

This paper is concerned with the a-thing project (2013) and its discussions about body's singularities, tracking the visceral data to amplify bodily noises and to represent them as the information visualisation in the space. The wearable artefact presents itself in three different situations of use and contexts of significance named as “body-animal”, which organizes material attributes of shape by changing the silhouette and reordering the body; “body-device”, which captures physiological data; and “body-thing” that evokes modes of perception and process of individuation, considering that the user/performer can inhabit a-thing and recognise different spaces. Este texto apresenta o objeto vestível uma-coisa (2013), que problematiza as singularidades do corpo ao monitorar e ampliar a visceralidade, representando os ruídos corporais em visualidades no espaço. O artefato vestível é apresentado em três situações de uso e contextos de significação denominados: “corpobicho”, que organiza as materialidades da forma através da alteração da silhueta e da reordenação corpórea; “corpo-dispositivo”, que capta os dados fisiológicos; e “corpo-coisa”, que evoca modos de percepção e processos de individuação, na medida em que o usuário/performer pode habitar uma-coisa e reconhecer os distintos espaços.

O artigo aborda algumas discussões que tangenciam a problemática do audiovisual na contemporaneidade. Para tanto, realiza uma análise sobre as relações entre imagem em meios digitais e corpo a partir da observação dos procedimentos empregados na videoinstalação Retratos in motion: o beijo (2005) do artista luiz duVa (São Paulo, 1965). A experiência audiovisual é aqui observada em suas significações táteis como o lugar do contato, como produção de alteridade. Ela depende majoritariamente dos atravessamentos que promove no corpo do visitante. O presente estudo objetiva verificar de que modo sensações por ela provocadas proporcionam desestabilização e estranhamento, ativando memórias. The paper addresses some discussions that tangent the problematic of audiovisual in contemporary society. The study presents an analysis of the relationship between image and body in digital media from observation of the procedures employed in the video installation Retratos in motion: o beijo (2005) of the artist luiz duVa (São Paulo, 1965). The audiovisual experience is seen here in its tactile meanings as the place of contact, such as production of otherness. It depends mostly of crossings that promotes in the body of visitor. This study aims to verify how the sensations caused by it provide destabilizing strangeness, activating memories.

Além do impacto ambiental, a deriva de glyphosate pode causar danos sobre culturas sensíveis a esse herbicida. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a influência de adjuvantes e pontas de pulverização na deriva de glyphosate aplicado via terrestre. O estudo foi conduzido em campo, arranjado em esquema fatorial (3 x 9), sendo o primeiro fator constituído por três pontas de pulverização: uma de jato plano (Teejet XR 110.015) e duas de jato plano com indução de ar (Teejet AIXR 110.015 e Teejet TTI 110.015). O segundo fator foi composto por sete adjuvantes: Break Thru(r) (0,1% v.v.), Grap' Oil(r) (0,5% v.v.), Grap Super Gun(r) (0,03% v.v.), Iharol(r) (1% v.v.), NP-10(r) (0,075 L ha-1), Dash HC(r) (0,5% v.v.) e Emultec R(r) (0,05 L ha-1). Os adjuvantes foram adicionados à calda de aplicação juntamente com o herbicida Roundup Transorb R(r) na dose de 2,16 kg e.a. ha-1. Além desses, foram incluídos dois tratamentos testemunha: um sem aplicação e outro com aplicação de glyphosate sem adjuvante. As variáveis avaliadas foram a distância percorrida pelas gotas para fora do alvo, a fitotoxicidade causada pela deriva, o diâmetro mediano volumétrico, a densidade de gotas e o volume recuperado pela utilização de papéis hidrossensíveis. As pontas de pulverização TTI 110.015 e AIXR 110.015 proporcionaram menor deriva que a ponta XR 110.015. As pontas TTI e AIXR apresentaram menor densidade de gotas e maior diâmetro mediano volumétrico, quando comparadas à ponta XR. A utilização dos adjuvantes NP-10(r) e Emultec R(r) com a ponta de pulverização XR 110.015 aumentou a deriva quando comparada com a aplicação de glyphosate sem adjuvante, porém não diferiram dos demais adjuvantes. O adjuvante Emultec R(r) aumentou o DMV das gotas, quando geradas pela ponta XR 110.015. A utilização dos adjuvantes Grap' Oil(r), Grap Super Gun(r), Iharol(r) e Dash HC(r) diminuiu a densidade de gotas derivadas, quando geradas pela ponta XR 110.015. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of different adjuvants and different nozzles on glyphosate drift in terrestrial applications. The study was conducted in the field, arranged in a factorial design (3 x 9): factor A consisted of three different spray nozzles: one flat spray nozzle (Teejet = XR 110.015) and two air induction flat spray nozzles (Teejet AIXR 110.015 and Teejet TTI 110.015). Factor B was composed of seven adjuvants: Break Thru(r) (0.1% v.v.), Grap' Oil(r) (0.5% v.v.), Grap Super Gun(r) (0.03% v.v.), Iharol(r) (1% v.v.), NP-10(r) (0.075 L ha-1), Dash HC(r) (0.5% v.v.) and Emultec R(r) (0.05 L ha-1). The adjuvants were added to Roundup Transorb R(r) herbicide at 2.16 a.i. ha-1. Moreover, there were two control treatments, one untreated check and another one with application of glyphosate without adjuvant. The distance of droplets off-target, injury caused by drift, volumetric median diameter (VMD), droplet density and volume were evaluated by water sensitive paper cards. The TTI 110.015 spray nozzle resulted in lesser drift when compared to the AIXR 110.015 and XR 110.015 nozzles. The TTI and AIXR nozzles showed lower droplet density and greater VMD compared with the XR nozzle. The use of NP-10(r) and Emultec R(r) adjuvants with spray nozzle XR 110.015 increases drift. Adjuvant Emultec R(r) increases VMD droplets when used with the XR 110.015 nozzle. The use of adjuvants Grap' Oil(r), Grap Super Gun(r), Iharol(r) and Dash HC(r) decrease density derived droplets when generated with the XR 110.015 nozzle.

Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais The production of second-generation ethanol by enzymatic hydrolysis of biomass is considered a viable and promising alternative to face the global energy crisis and to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels. Therefore, it is necessary to degrade the constituent molecules of the plant cell wall such as lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose to fermentable sugars. However, the use of enzymes for this purpose is still expensive, leading to the increase on studies seeking to make them more feasible economically and technically. The present study aimed the molecular, structural and functional characterization of the endoglucanase Cel12A from the fungus Gloeophyllum trabeum by different techniques. Biochemical data revealed the substrate specificity for the enzyme and showed that β-glucan is the best substrate for its activity (239.2 ± 9.1 U mg-1). Optimal conditions for activity were pH 4.5 and temperature of 50 oC. Thermal stability assay indicated a half-life of 84.6 ± 3.6 hours at 50 oC. The kinetic parameters Km (3.2 ± 0.5 mg mL-1) and Vmax (0,40 ± 0,02 μmol min-1) were determined using β-glucan as substrate. Analysis of scanning electron microscopy of oat spelts and filter paper samples submitted to the hydrolysis by GtCel12A evidenced the degradation effects of these substrates compared to control samples. Moreover, the low-resolution envelope and the crystallographic structure for GtCel12A were determined. The structure revealed a β-sandwich fold with two β-sheets (A and B) and three α-helices, while sheet A showed five strands and sheet B nine strands. The comparative analysis of the amino acid sequence and homologous structures prompted us to identify the catalytic residues, Glu142 and Glu227 in the active site of the enzyme. These results are important for understanding and elucidating the enzyme molecular mechanism of action and other glycoside hydrolase family 12 endoglucanases. A produção de etanol de segunda geração, a partir da hidrólise enzimática da biomassa vegetal é considerada uma alternativa viável e promissora para enfrentarmos a crise energética mundial e diminuirmos a dependência das fontes fósseis de energia. Para isso, é necessário que ocorra a degradação das moléculas constituintes da parede celular como a lignina, a celulose e a hemicelulose a açúcares fermentescíveis. No entanto, a utilização de enzimas para esse fim ainda apresenta um custo elevado, o que tem desencadeado, cada vez mais, estudos que busquem torná-las mais viáveis econômica e tecnicamente. O presente estudo visou à caracterização molecular, estrutural e funcional da endoglucanase Cel12A do fungo Gloeophyllum trabeum por diferentes técnicas. Os dados bioquímicos revelaram a especificidade por substratos da enzima, sendo que o melhor substrato para a atividade foi o β-glucano (239,2 ± 9,1 U mg-1). As condições ótimas para a atividade foram pH 4,5 e temperatura de 50 oC. Os ensaios de estabilidade térmica indicaram uma meia-vida de 84,6 ± 3,6 horas a 50 oC. Os parâmetros cinéticos Km (3,2 ± 0,5 mg mL-1)) e Vmax (0,40 ± 0,02 μmol min-1) foram determinados utilizando-se β-glucano como substrato. Análises de microscopia eletrônica de varredura de amostras de papel de filtro e aveia submetidos à hidrólise pela GtCel12A evidenciaram os efeitos de degradação dos substratos em relação às amostras controle. Adicionalmente, o envelope de baixa resolução e a estrutura cristalográfica da GtCel12A foram obtidos. O modelo de alta resolução revelou um enovelamento do tipo sanduíche β, com duas folhas β (A e B) e três hélices α, sendo que a folha A apresentou cinco fitas e a B, nove fitas. Por meio de análises comparativas da sequência de aminoácidos e de estruturas homólogas identificamos os resíduos catalíticos Glu142 e Glu227 no sítio ativo da enzima. Tais resultados são importantes para a elucidação e compreensão do mecanismo molecular de atuação dessa enzima e de outras endoglucanases da família GH12.

Tivemos, como intenção central, apresentar aspectos de alguns desses encaminhamentos efetivados em busca da criação de possibilidades para a construção coletiva de condições para nutrir todos os envolvidos nos processos investigativos com um conjunto de saberes necessá- rios à tomada de decisões e posicionamentos sobre a e na prática pedagógica. Da ótica teórico-metodológica que baseou nossas pesquisas, os processos formativos de professores devem ir ao encontro da expressão das suas ações práticas, a fim de se produzir um novo conhecimento relativizado, entendido com base nas circunstâncias, dos sujeitos e dos lugares sociais daqueles que o elaboram e o disseminam. Essa compreensão foi responsável pelas opções metodológicas feitas para a proposição e o desenvolvimento de nossas pesquisas, prioritariamente a História Oral. Finalmente, concluímos, dentre outros aspectos, que a singularidade do que é realizado, pensado e falado no mundo da escola e, portanto, a prática da pesquisa pedagógica pela via da narrativa é prenhe de conteúdo para projeção de novas ações em favor da melhoria dos processos de ensino e de aprendizagem dirigidos à formação e atuação docentes e à humanização plena de adultos e crianças. This paper emerges from our research and extension courses university, from our concerns with the initial and continuous training of teachers and the Childhood Education and the early years of elementary school. We had, as a main focus, presenting aspects of some of these referrals effected towards the creation of possibilities for the collective creation of conditions to nourish all those involved in due diligence with a set of knowledge necessary for making decisions and positions on it and in pedagogical practice. Of theoretical and methodological perspective based our research, teacher training processes should meet the expression of their practical actions in order to produce new knowledge relativized, understood based on the circumstances, the social subjects and the social places of those prepare and disseminate. This understanding was responsible for the methodological choices made for the proposition and development of our research, primarily the oral history. Finally, we conclude, among other things, that the uniqueness of what is done, thought and spoken in the world of school and therefore, the practice of educational research through the narrative is full of content for the projection of new shares in favor of improved processes of teaching and learning aimed the formation and activity of teachers and the humanization of adults and children. Bot_anic resulta do processo de invenção de um sistema planta/robô que dá continuidade às investigações sobre híbridos com base no entrecruzamento de organismos naturais e artificiais no contexto da arte. No presente artigo tomaremos por referência este projeto para refletir sobre o processo de criação de autômatos, a geração de comportamento emergente por simplicidade e sobre as ligações sensíveis da experiência artística interfaceada pelo uso de tecnologias. Bot_anic results from the process of inventing a plant/robot system, which follows the investigation about hybrids based on the intercrossing of natural and artificial organisms in the context of art. At the present paper we will take as reference this project to think about the process of creating automatons, the generation of emergent behaviour by simplicity and about the sensible liaisons of the artistic experiences interfaced by the use of technologies.

This paper reports the development of a novel methodology for the catalytic synthesis of aromatic alpha-amino acids, which involves the addition of aryl-organoboron reagents to alpha,alpha-ditosylamino esters derived from ethyl glyoxylate, using transition metal catalysts, like Rh and Pd. A library of alpha-amino esters (12 with Pd and 8 with Rh), was synthesized with moderate to excellent yields. A highest enantioselectivity of 30% ee was obtained using Hayashi's ligand. This method was applied to the synthesis of phenylglycine.

Introduction: Lactate dehydrogenase is a citosolic enzyme involved in reversible transformation of pyruvate to lactate. It participates in anaerobic glycolysis of skeletal muscle and red blood cells, in liver gluconeogenesis and in aerobic metabolism of heart muscle. The determination of its activity helps in the diagnosis of various diseases, because it is increased in serum of patients suffering from myocardial infarction, acute hepatitis, muscular dystrophy and cancer. This paper presents a learning object, mediated by computer, which contains the simulation of the laboratory determination serum lactate dehydrogenase activity measured by the spectrophotometric method, based in the decrease of absorbance at 340 nm. Materials and Methods: Initially, pictures and videos were obtained recording the procedure of the methodology. The most representative images were selected, edited and inserted into an animation developed with the aid of the tool Adobe ® Flash ® CS3. The validation of the object was performed by the students of Biochemistry I (Pharmacy-UFRGS) from the second semester of 2009 and both of 2010. Results and Discussion: The analysis of students' answers revealed that 80% attributed the excellence of the navigation program, the display format and to aid in learning. Conclusion: Therefore, this software can be considered an adequate teaching resource as well as an innovative support in the construction of theoretical and practical knowledge of Biochemistry. Neste artigo, é nossa intenção refletir e analisar, ainda que de uma forma exploratória,três dimensões essenciais – a relação pedagógica, o currículo e a avaliação – subjacentes à realização por alunos com mais de 50 anos de um Programa Universitário promovido pelo Centro Regional do Porto da Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Numa expressão que não perfilhamos, diríamos tratar-se de uma oferta “não tradicional” para estudantes “não tradicionais”. Paradoxalmente, este “não” exprime não um défice, mas uma riqueza nada despicienda – de experiências (de vida, profissionais, mas também, as mais das vezes, de educação formal, pelo facto de a maioria dos alunos ser, pelo menos, licenciada), de memórias (passado), bem como de atividade (presente), desejos e expectativas (futuro)! Então, e justamente pelo facto de ser “não tradicional”, este Programa tem, por um lado, implicado um esforço no sentido de repensar alguns dos processos e procedimentoshabituais da Universidade; por outro, tem trazido dados que nos podem levar a questionar algumas crenças associadas à Educação de adultos., In this paper, we intend to reflect and analyse, even in an exploratory way, three key dimensions – the pedagogical relationship, the curriculum and the assessment – underlying the attainment, by students over 50 years old, of a university programme sponsored by the Porto’s Regional Centre of the Catholic University of Portugal. We would say, using a formula which we do not espouse, that it is a “non-traditional” programme for “non-traditional” students. Paradoxically, this “non” does not express a deficit, but a not inconsiderable wealth – of (life, professional, but also, more often than not, formal education – because most students are graduate, at least –) experiences, memories (past), as well as activity (present), desires and expectations (future)! Then, and precisely because it is “non-traditional”, this program has, on the one hand, involved an effort to rethink some of the processes and procedures of the University; on the other, has brought data that can lead us to question certain beliefs associated with adult education.

O óleo essencial de pimenta longa (Piper hispidinervum C. DC) é rico em safrol, tornando-o suscetível à reação de isomerização para a obtenção de cis, trans-isosafrol. O presente artigo apresenta a etapa de eletroxidação dos isômeros cis, trans-isosafrol advindos da isomerização direta do óleo essencial de pimenta longa, apresentando 99,7% de conversão em isosafrol glicol, o qual é sujeito à oxidação com conversão de 99% em piperonal, este apresentando 84,9% de pureza. The essential oil of long-pepper (Piper hispidinervum C. DC) is rich in safrole, then susceptible to isomerization reaction to obtain cis, trans-isosafrole. In this paper it is presented the eletroxidation of cis, trans-isosafrole from direct isomerization of essential oil of long-pepper, with 99,7% of convertion to isosafrole glicol, that it is react by oxidation to convert 99% into piperonal with 84,9% purity.

La creciente importancia dada al justo valor como forma de mensuración, en detrimento del coste histórico, hace que la determinación de su valor, y posterior registro, esté en la agenda de los organismos de normalización. En este sentido, el International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) emitió la International Accounting Standards (IAS) 41 en la cual prevé la mensuración al justo valor de los activos biológicos y productos agrícolas. En este paper abordaremos el sector vitivinícola portugués, por ser aquél que tiene un peso más significativo dentro de la actividad agrícola y analizamos la IAS 41 y su proceso de desarrollo, enfocando la visión de los principales intervinientes en el proyecto de norma. Por fin, abordamos un estudio empírico efectuado con base en datos recogidos a través de investigación a las empresas con la Clasificación Portuguesa de las Actividades Económicas (CAE) 15931. A nivel empírico, para que percibamos cuáles son los factores influyentes en la aplicación de la norma, adoptamos los análisis descriptivo, factorial, de clústeres y discriminante. A pesar de las limitaciones de la investigación, los resultados obtenidos permiten concluir que los inquiridos dieron más relevancia a las variables relacionadas con la aplicabilidad de la norma y asimismo, con la experiencia y el conocimiento de ésta y de otras normas, o sea, consideran la aplicabilidad de la norma relevante para el sector.

O consumo de água pelas plantas é uma maneira também de avaliar a atuação dos herbicidas nas plantas daninhas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a fluorescência através da taxa de transporte de elétrons, consumo de água e fitointoxicação de Brachiaria decumbens após aplicação de quatro herbicidas de diferentes mecanismos de ação. Aos 30 dias após a semeadura de B. decumbens, as plantas foram arrancadas dos tubetes e preparadas para os tratamentos. Elas tiveram o sistema radicular colocado em tubos falcon preenchidos com água, e a superfície dos falcon foi isolada com papel-alumínio, para evitar evaporação do sistema. Os herbicidas aplicados foram: glyphosate, haloxyfop-methyl, diuron e amicarbazone. A aplicação foi feita com um pulverizador estacionário instalado em laboratório; após a aplicação dos tratamentos, as plantas foram mantidas em casa de vegetação. Foi avaliada a taxa de transporte de elétrons (ETR), o consumo de água e a fitointoxicação das plantas em vários períodos após o início do experimento. Os dados de ETR e fitointoxicação foram expressos em porcentagem da testemunha e submetidos à análise de variância e à comparação das médias. Para o consumo de água, os dados foram acumulados e ajustados por modelos de regressão. Assim, pode-se dizer que as plantas de B. decumbens tiveram respostas diferentes aos herbicidas aplicados, e o consumo de água das plantas está relacionado diretamente com o transporte de elétrons. A metodologia fundamentada no fluorômetro mostrou-se adequada para verificar a intoxicação antecipada em B. de cumbens submetidas ao amicarbazone e diuron antes mesmo da verificação visual de intoxicação. Analysis of chlorophyll fluorescence has been widely used in the attempt to understand the mechanisms of photosynthesis itself, and to evaluate the changes in photosynthetic capacity, with herbicide application. Water consumption by plants is also a form of evaluating the action of herbicides on weeds. The objective of this study was to evaluate fluorescence through electron transport rate, water consumption, and phytotoxicity on Brachiaria decumbens after application of four herbicides, based on different mechanisms of action. B. decumbens plants were removed from the tubes at 30 days after seeding and prepared for the treatments. Their roots were placed in falcon tubes filled with water, and their surfaces were insulated with alu minum paper to avoid water evaporation from the system. The herbicides used were: glyphosate, haloxyfop-methyl, diuron, and amicarbazone. Treatments were applied using a stationary sprayer installed in the laboratory, and the plants were kept under greenhouse conditions, after appli cation. Electron transport rate (ETR), water consumption and plant phytotoxicity were evaluated at various periods after the start of the experiment. ETR and phytotoxicity data were expressed as percentage of control and subjected to analysis of variance and comparison of means. The water consumption data were accumulated and adjusted for regression models. The plants of B. decumbens had different responses to the herbicides applied and water consumption by the plants is directly related to electron transport. The methodology based on fluorometer proved to be adequate to verify early intoxication in B. decumbens submitted to amicarbazone and diuron, even before the visual determination of intoxication .
