This paper analyzes the role of the International Executive Service Corps (IESC) in the international political scene between 1964 and 1966. We seek to understand the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funding to IESC. Methodologically, we analyzed David Rockefeller's (one of its founders) and Jack N. Berhman's (USAID administrator) personal archives. Their documents reveal IESC's modus operandi and its relations with United States government's upper administration. The research problem aims to understand if the IESC can be considered an unofficial, non-governmental way of pursuing formal political objectives, especially in expanding North American capital in peripheral countries, guided by a transnational basis preventive counterrevolutionary perspective. The Minority Health International Research Training (MHIRT) Program annually sends two students from minority groups from Southern US universities to conduct researches in Brazilian cities. The three pairs of African-American students sent to the city of Belém between 2013 and 2015 to carry out research in the Laboratory of Tropical Medicine at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) are the focus of this ethnographic report, which intends to investigate their strangeness towards the Brazilian racial reality. The methodology used in this paper is qualitative and bibliographical, based on semi-structured interviews and informal conversations with the African-American students, as well as on the literature on the issues raised in the field work. Thus, we investigate the students' estrangements about their experience of living in the most expensive perimeter of Belém, their presence in the most whitened and elitist course in UFPA, their socializations in the city and their findings about the origins of the traditional cuisine of Para. The ethnographic discussion raised by this paper examines the differences and similarities between racial relations of Brazil and of the US, countries which constructed very different ethnic and national identities, even though both were founded by the hands of slaved black Africans. This paper was written in 2003-04 and aims to investigate the two cycles of US economic expansion in the late of the 20th Century and the 2001 financial crisis. For this purpose, it starts an examination of the mutations of the capital since the 1970s. The Iranian nuclear program has been a source of apprehension and concern for some time. There are suspicions that Iran aims to use nuclear energy for military purposes, becoming an illegitimate nuclear power. Decades of sanctions and attempts of negotiation have not had satisfactory results. This paper aims to analyze the actual framework of the Iranian nuclear issue and argues that it reflects the controversies and difficulties of the nuclear nonproliferation regime. This paper, which was an introduction to an anthology of seminal texts of the American Black feminism, draws a historiographical trajectory of the many phases of this movement, the so-called "waves", since the first one, in the 1850's, when women stuggled for the abolition of slavery in the US, through the second wave, in the 1970's, with its great activist and theoretical currents, until the present day's third wave, in which the heteronormativity still present in the precedent phases, essentially white women's feminism, is questioned. The author presents a detailed critical analysis of the terminology that, since the beginning, has been used to qualify or, rather, disqualify the Black women in the American society, though heavy stereotypes about the supposedly abnormal sexuality of not only Black men but especially Black women. Based on theoretical contributions of imagery - namely of Joep Leerssen and D.H Pageaux, Peter Firchow, among others - this paper aims to analyze the construction of the images of North Americans in the chronicles of Eduardo Mayone Dias. We will analyze the mechanisms involved in the construction of these images in the author's work, and will attempt to determine the extent to which they may be original or stereotyped, that is, grounded in a stereotypical vision of the cultural imagery of the time. The paper aims to analyze the growth pattern of the United States and China in the post - 2008 crisis period and the interconnections between the two countries in terms of trade, financial flows and investments. The research is based on the theoretical contributions of recent authors in the field of International Political Economy: Leo Panitch and Alex Callinicos in their work related to the theme of the United States' position in the world. From this discussion the article identifies through empirical analysis the characteristics of the US economy and the Chinese economy, as well as the interdependence between them. The paper analyzes the Preferential Trade Agreements concluded between United States and some Latin America countries, highlighting the TRIPS-plus content of the intellectual property rights rules contained in these agreements. In this paper we present the transformation of everyday life of Fortaleza between the years 1942 and 1945 during World War II. By Brazil's entry into the conflict, the approach with the United States, the installation of a US military base in Fortaleza and being with the soldiers, we will show the changes in the habits and customs of fortalezenses citizens, with the line of thought the physical installation and symbolic of a cultural hegemony (US) in which took place in the period of World War II. We intend to analyze the influences brought by the Americans who came here with the installation of the military base and eventually transformed the social space, habits and customs. Based on literature review, this paper compares some epistemological matrices of the Anglo-American and Latin American research on communication. The goal is to outline an overview of the theoretical repertoire of each space. The analysis is developed in three axes: (a) the context of each research tradition; (b) the epistemological matrices, stressing method and object; and (c) the difference in the research orientation –sometimes focusing on the means, sometimes on the processes– and the issue's disciplinary contribution.
