Computer Science - Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition - Abstract
The task of counting eucalyptus trees from aerial images collected by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has been frequently explored by techniques of estimation of the basal area, i.e, by determining the expected number of trees based on sampling techniques. An alternative is the use of machine learning to identify patterns that represent a tree unit, and then search for the occurrence of these patterns throughout the image. This strategy depends on a supervised image segmentation step to define predefined interest regions. Thus, it is possible to automate the counting of eucalyptus trees in these images, thereby increasing the efficiency of the eucalyptus forest inventory management. In this paper, we evaluated 20 different classifiers for the image segmentation task. A real sample was used to analyze the counting trees task considering a practical environment. The results show that it possible to automate this task with 0.7% counting error, in particular, by using strategies based on a combination of classifiers. Moreover, we present some performance considerations about each classifier that can be useful as a basis for decision-making in future tasks., Comment: in Portuguese

Computer Science - Computation and Language - Abstract
The Internet has led to a dramatic increase in the amount of available information. In this context, reading and understanding this flow of information have become costly tasks. In the last years, to assist people to understand textual data, various Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications based on Combinatorial Optimization have been devised. However, for Multi-Sentences Compression (MSC), method which reduces the sentence length without removing core information, the insertion of optimization methods requires further study to improve the performance of MSC. This article describes a method for MSC using Combinatorial Optimization and Graph Theory to generate more informative sentences while maintaining their grammaticality. An experiment led on a corpus of 40 clusters of sentences shows that our system has achieved a very good quality and is better than the state-of-the-art., Comment: 12 pages, 1 figure, 3 tables (paper in Portuguese), Preprint of XLVIII Simp\'osio Brasileiro de Pesquisa Operacional, 2016, Vit\'oria, ES, (Brazil)

Physics - Medical Physics - Abstract
In this study, we make non-invasive, remote, passive measurements of the heart beat frequency and determine the map of blood pulsation intensity in a region of interest (ROI) of skin. The ROI used was the forearm of a volunteer. The method employs a regular video camera and visible light, and the video acquisition takes less than 1 minute. The mean cardiac frequency found in our volunteer was within 1 bpm of the ground-truth value simultaneously obtained via earlobe plethysmography. Using the signals extracted from the video images, we have determined an intensity map for the blood pulsation at the surface of the skin. In this paper we present the experimental and data processing details of the work and well as limitations of the technique. In this work we describe the Non-Equilibrium Statistical Operator Method (NESOM). The NESOM is a powerful formalism that seems to offer an elegant and concise way for an analytical treatment in the theory of irreversible processes, adequate to deal with a large class of experimental situations, and physically clear picture of irreversible processes. The method invented by D. N. Zubarev is also practical and efficient in the study of the optical and carrier dynamics in semiconductors. Computer Science - Machine Learning - Abstract
Neural Networks have been applied for time series prediction with good experimental results that indicate the high capacity to approximate functions with good precision. Most neural models used in these applications use activation functions with fixed parameters. However, it is known that the choice of activation function strongly influences the complexity and performance of the neural network and that a limited number of activation functions have been used. In this work, we propose the use of a family of free parameter asymmetric activation functions for neural networks and show that this family of defined activation functions satisfies the requirements of the universal approximation theorem. A methodology for the global optimization of this family of activation functions with free parameter and the weights of the connections between the processing units of the neural network is used. The central idea of the proposed methodology is to simultaneously optimize the weights and the activation function used in a multilayer perceptron network (MLP), through an approach that combines the advantages of simulated annealing, tabu search and a local learning algorithm, with the purpose of improving performance in the adjustment and forecasting of time series. We chose two learning algorithms: backpropagation with the term momentum (BPM) and LevenbergMarquardt (LM)., Comment: 19 pages, in Portuguese, 2 figures, 12 tables

In order to make good investment decisions, it is vitally important for an investor to know how to make good analysis of financial time series. Within this context, studies on the forecast of the values and trends of stock prices have become more relevant. Currently, there are different approaches to dealing with the task. The two main ones are the historical analysis of stock prices and technical indicators and the analysis of sentiments in news, blogs and tweets about the market. Some of the most used statistical and artificial intelligence techniques are genetic algorithms, Support Vector Machines (SVM) and different architectures of artificial neural networks. This work proposes the improvement of a model based on the association of three distinct LSTM neural networks, each acting in parallel to predict the opening, minimum and maximum prices of stock exchange indices on the day following the analysis. The dataset is composed of historical data from more than 10 indices from the world's largest stock exchanges. The results demonstrate that the model is able to predict trends and stock prices with reasonable accuracy., Comment: in Portuguese

This work consists of a study that addresses the context of false news in the reality of today's world. False news is a widely used expression currently. During the study, it was possible to identify problems generalized about this theme, such as the wide spread that these have and the impact they have on society. From these problems it was possible to identify more specific ones, such as the origin of the news, the news source, a person who shares and/or creates news and the interpersonal relationship existing. With the identification of the aforementioned sub-problems, it was possible develop a taxonomic model with the aim of implementing a tool that helps in detecting false news, identifying if a news is true, false or whether the user must be careful (when it is not possible identify whether the news is true or false). After implementation, it was possible get a tool that allows you to calculate a probability of a news being false, selected as selected options in each parameter. It was also possible to verify that a probability was correct and that the tool is reviewed in the study carried out., Comment: in Portuguese

The next-generation sequencers such as Illumina and SOLiD platforms generate a large amount of data, commonly above 10 Gigabytes of text files. Particularly, the SOLiD platform allows the sequencing of multiple samples in a single run, called multiplex run, through a tagging system called Barcode. This feature requires a computational process for separation of the data sample because the sequencer provides a mixture of all samples in a single output. This process must be secure to avoid any harm that may scramble further analysis. In this context, realized the need to develop a probabilistic model capable of assigning a degree of confidence in the marking system used in multiplex sequencing. The results confirmed the adequacy of the model obtained, which allows, among other things, to guide a process of filtering the data and evaluation of the sequencing protocol used., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, 2 tables, Published in Portuguese in the Anais of the XLIII Simp\'osio Brasileiro de Pesquisa Operacional (SBPO 2011), 2011. Taxes on goods and services account for about 45% of total tax revenue in Brazil. This tax collection results in a highly complex system, with several taxes, different tax bases, and a multiplicity of rates. Moreover, about 43% of taxes on goods fall on inputs. In this context, the effective tax rates can substantially differ from the legal rates. In this study we estimate the final incidence of indirect taxes in Brazil using the 2015 Brazilian input-output matrix and a method that incorporates the multisector effects of the taxation of inputs., Comment: in Portuguese

This works proposes a methodology to searching for automatically Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) by using Cellular Genetic Algorithm (CGA). The goal of this methodology is to find compact networks whit good performance for classification problems. The main reason for developing this work is centered at the difficulties of configuring compact ANNs with good performance rating. The use of CGAs aims at seeking the components of the RNA in the same way that a common Genetic Algorithm (GA), but it has the differential of incorporating a Cellular Automaton (CA) to give location for the GA individuals. The location imposed by the CA aims to control the spread of solutions in the populations to maintain the genetic diversity for longer time. Energy efficiency is a topic that has attracted the attention of researchers in recent years, in order to seek sustainability solutions for energy production and reduction of its costs, aiming to provide a balance between development and protection of natural resources. Thus, we proposed the EnergySaver software that has as its objective the monitoring of electric energy consumption, from data capture to consumption forecast for the following month. To create Energy Saver, we used Open Source technologies applied to the Internet of Things (IoT), embedded systems, and Long Short-Term Memory Neural Networks (LSTM). However, in order to have harmony between the current researchers and those who may manipulate this software in the future, it is essential to create a Software Manual, where all the details of its implementation are described in detail. Therefore, this article describes all the steps for the implementation of the system, from the methodological scheme of the system, its modeling with UML, to the modules that compose it, becoming a Manual for its use., Comment: 8 pages, in Portuguese, 21 figures

The optimization of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) is an important task to the success of using these models in real-world applications. The solutions adopted to this task are expensive in general, involving trial-and-error procedures or expert knowledge which are not always available. In this work, we investigated the use of meta-learning to the optimization of ANNs. Meta-learning is a research field aiming to automatically acquiring knowledge which relates features of the learning problems to the performance of the learning algorithms. The meta-learning techniques were originally proposed and evaluated to the algorithm selection problem and after to the optimization of parameters for Support Vector Machines. However, meta-learning can be adopted as a more general strategy to optimize ANN parameters, which motivates new efforts in this research direction. In the current work, we performed a case study using meta-learning to choose the number of hidden nodes for MLP networks, which is an important parameter to be defined aiming a good networks performance. In our work, we generated a base of meta-examples associated to 93 regression problems. Each meta-example was generated from a regression problem and stored: 16 features describing the problem (e.g., number of attributes and correlation among the problem attributes) and the best number of nodes for this problem, empirically chosen from a range of possible values. This set of meta-examples was given as input to a meta-learner which was able to predict the best number of nodes for new problems based on their features. The experiments performed in this case study revealed satisfactory results., Comment: 12 pages, in Portuguese, 2 figures, 2 tables

The universe is composed of galaxies that have diverse shapes. Once the structure of a galaxy is determined, it is possible to obtain important information about its formation and evolution. Morphologically classifying galaxies means cataloging them according to their visual appearance and the classification is linked to the physical properties of the galaxy. A morphological classification made through visual inspection is subject to biases introduced by subjective observations made by human volunteers. For this reason, systematic, objective and easily reproducible classification of galaxies has been gaining importance since the astronomer Edwin Hubble created his famous classification method. In this work, we combine accurate visual classifications of the Galaxy Zoo project with \emph {Deep Learning} methods. The goal is to find an efficient technique at human performance level classification, but in a systematic and automatic way, for classification of elliptical and spiral galaxies. For this, a neural network model was created through an Ensemble of four other convolutional models, allowing a greater accuracy in the classification than what would be obtained with any one individual. Details of the individual models and improvements made are also described. The present work is entirely based on the analysis of images (not parameter tables) from DR1 (www.datalab.noao.edu) of the Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey (S-PLUS). In terms of classification, we achieved, with the Ensemble, an accuracy of $\approx 99 \%$ in the test sample (using pre-trained networks)., Comment: 18 pages, 13 figures, codes and data available at https://natanael.net, text in portuguese

Training of Artificial Neural Networks is a complex task of great importance in supervised learning problems. Evolutionary Algorithms are widely used as global optimization techniques and these approaches have been used for Artificial Neural Networks to perform various tasks. An optimization algorithm, called Group Search Optimizer (GSO), was proposed and inspired by the search behaviour of animals. In this article we present two new hybrid approaches: CGSO-Hk-WD and CGSO-Sk-WD. Cooperative GSOs are based on the divide-and-conquer paradigm, employing cooperative behaviour between GSO groups to improve the performance of the standard GSO. We also apply the weight decay strategy (WD, acronym for Weight Decay) to increase the generalizability of the networks. The results show that cooperative GSOs are able to achieve better performance than traditional GSO for classification problems in benchmark datasets such as Cancer, Diabetes, Ecoli and Glass datasets., Comment: 9 pages, in Portuguese, 2 Figures, 6 Tables

The interest in the use of the HF band in telecommunication has increased significantly in the last decade, mainly due to the development of new standards for military telecommunications in HF, as well as the expansion of digital broadcasting in the HF band. More specifically, these new standards allow the implementation of links of hundreds or thousands of kilometers at a low cost, which suggests a widespread adoption can occur. In Brazil, this type of communication can be used in remote regions or regions of difficult access, such as the Amazon rain-forest region. In addition to the evolution of technologies concerning the physical layer of the HF telecommunication systems, there has been a great development of techniques that use machine learning algorithms for audio and image coding. It is believed that all these advances will enable the use of the HF band for communication services in places without telecommunication infrastructure. Computer Science - Machine Learning ,Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence - Abstract
Graph-based Neural Networks (GNNs) are recent models created for learning representations of nodes (and graphs), which have achieved promising results when detecting patterns that occur in large-scale data relating different entities. Among these patterns, financial fraud stands out for its socioeconomic relevance and for presenting particular challenges, such as the extreme imbalance between the positive (fraud) and negative (legitimate transactions) classes, and the concept drift (i.e., statistical properties of the data change over time). Since GNNs are based on message propagation, the representation of a node is strongly impacted by its neighbors and by the network's hubs, amplifying the imbalance effects. Recent works attempt to adapt undersampling and oversampling strategies for GNNs in order to mitigate this effect without, however, accounting for concept drift. In this work, we conduct experiments to evaluate existing techniques for detecting network fraud, considering the two previous challenges. For this, we use real data sets, complemented by synthetic data created from a new methodology introduced here. Based on this analysis, we propose a series of improvement points that should be investigated in future research., Comment: 12 pages, in Portuguese

The serverless computing model strengthens the cloud computing tendency to abstract resource management. Serverless platforms are responsible for deploying and scaling the developer's applications. Serverless also incorporated the pay-as-you-go billing model, which only considers the time spent processing client requests. Such a decision created a natural incentive for improving the platform's efficient resource usage. This search for efficiency can lead to the cold start problem, which represents a delay to execute serverless applications. Among the solutions proposed to deal with the cold start, those based on the snapshot method stand out. Despite the rich exploration of the technique, there is a lack of research that evaluates the solution's trade-offs. In this direction, this work compares two solutions to mitigate the cold start: Prebaking and SEUSS. We analyzed the solution's performance with functions of different levels of complexity: NoOp, a function that renders Markdown to HTML, and a function that loads 41 MB of dependencies. Preliminary results indicated that Prebaking showed a 33% and 25% superior performance to startup the NoOp and Markdown functions, respectively. Further analysis also revealed that Prebaking's warmup mechanism reduced the Markdown first request processing time by 69%., Comment: in Portuguese

Environmental heterogeneity is a determining factor of the structure of biological communities. Thus, understanding the distribution of species along environmental gradients provides assistance to conservation. The goal of this study was to determine the distribution pattern of the herbaceous community in three areas of the Southern Amazon. Sampling was conducted in three modules totaling 39 permanent plots according to the protocol of collection of the Program for Research in Biodiversity. All herbaceous and ground hemiepiphyte subjects above 5 cm were recorded. Multivariate analyses were used to summarize the species composition, multiple regression models were used to determine if environmental variables and disturbance caused by logging influenced the composition of the herbaceous community. We recorded 7.965 individuals representing 70 species. The distance of the watercourse was the main factor associated with the distribution of the species, interactions between variables showed that canopy openness and sand content also influence the species composition, and there was no effect on the number of trees cut. Species richness increased in areas where canopy cover was higher and it decreases as it becomes more distant from the watercourse. The occurrences of preferred habitats for some species have, in addition to an ecological interest, a practical significance for the conservation and management of these species. Currently, the area of preservation of streams provided by the Forest Code in effect is 30 m for rivers up to 10 m wide. However, this study shows that the range of protection should be extended to at least 100 m wide., Comment: Masters thesis, in Portuguese. 55 paginas e 9 figuras

General Relativity and Quantum Cosmology - Abstract
In this work the evolution of two fields of matter in planar symmetric black holes D-dimensional with symmetry of Lifshitz whose dynamic exponent is $z$ were analyzed. The fields investigated were a scalar field non-minimal coupled to the Einstein tensor and the Ricci scalar and the electromagnetic field. Two black holes were chosen, one with 5-dimensions and z=1 and another with 6-dimensions and $z=0$. The equations of motion for both fields were developed in general and applied to each black hole mentioned. In some cases exact solutions of the equations were obtained in terms of hypergeometric functions and confluent Heun functions. The quasinormal modes (MQN) of evolution of the analyzed fields were calculated numerically using two different approaches: HH and AIM. In all the black holes studied the NSM's did not indicate instabilities neither regarding the couplings nor the space-times. In general, the quasinormal modes behave like the oscillation modes of a damped harmonic oscillator, presenting three regimes: underdamped $(\omega_R \neq0, \omega_I <0) $, critically damped $ (\omega_R=0,\omega_I^{crit} <0) $ and overdamped $ (\omega_R=0,\omega_I <0) $. In the analyzed cases an interesting behavior was found for $\omega_I $ when $ k \neq0 $ and $ r_+<10 $. In general, $\omega_I $ increase with $k$, but here we find a quadratic growth for $ k\sim r_+$ and then a decrease when $k>>r_+$. This behavior may be relevant in the context of gravity/gauge duality. Additionally, we also analyzed the evolution of the same fields in two black holes with symmetry of Lifshtiz in $ 2 + 1 $ dimensions., Comment: Master dissertation (in Portuguese), Advisor: Prof. Dr. Alan Pavan, 117 pages, 37 figures

Since the beginning of industrialization, there have been several stages and paradigm shifts that today are ex-post-so-called industrial revolutions: in the field of mechanization (called the 1st industrial revolution), the intensive use of electrical energy (called the 2nd industrial revolution) and widespread digitization (called the 3rd industrial revolution). In this sense, for this future expectation, the term (Industry 4.0) was established for a 4th industrial revolution. Developments especially in Europe, but also in the United States, coined as the Industrial Internet, are often compared with the continuation of disruptive increases in industrial production, such as revolutions initiated by steam, electricity, etc. Aspects of continuous workforce training, and the use of sustainability resources in industrial, economic and general IT governance policies are not widespread and are the main problems and challenges in paradigms in Industry 4.0. Directions for future thematic research that will be covered in this article., Comment: in Portuguese

The Municipality of Rondon\'opolis possesses several touristic attractions such as a great diversity of waterfalls and little beaches located in the surroundings of the urban area, which attract tourists from various locations. Aiming to understand how ecotourism can contribute to the conservation of water resources in the leisure areas, as well as their potential development of touristic activities in those places. The procedures included the use of various techniques subsidized in remote sensing and geoprocessing tools that allowed the analysis and spatial distribution of tourism activities of the main leisure areas. The spatial distribution of the waterfalls and its surroundings, we observe the biophysical characters such as: the endemic vegetation, the cachoeiras, the waterfalls, the rocky outcrops, rivers, little beaches and espraiados. The results showed a correct perception of respondents on existing inter-relationships between ecotourism practices and the sustainable use of water resources. In conclusion though, a long way must be performed in order to prevent the economic benefits of ecotourism generate an inappropriate exploitation of natural resources, causing environmental problems, particularly to water resources in the surroundings., Comment: 113 p., in Portuguese: il. Continuous integration and continuous delivery are not new for developers who create web applications, however in the development of mobile applications this practice is still not very common mainly because of the challenges during the process of distributing the application. In the face of the growing number of applications, a greater requirement for quality and ever-shorter delivery times, delivering a healthy code is often extremely important to keep up with the competition. The purpose of this work is to implement an integration and continuous delivery pipeline for mobile applications developed in React Native. The article presents a brief review of the Brazilian legislation that impacts indigenous communities' digital privacy rights through governmental data collection. Furthermore, the article aims to discuss the need to collect sensitive data from indigenous communities without the participation of the same communities in developing the features for the data collection. In Disquisitiones Arithmeticae, Gauss studied binary quadratic forms and introduced a very general version of a composition operator that allows composing even forms of different discriminants and imprimitive forms. Section V of Disquisitiones contains truly revolutionary ideas and involves very complicated computations, sometimes left to the reader. With this theory, Gauss develops a method of factorization using quadratic residues obtained by binary quadratic forms. In this work we explore Gauss method making many of the computations necessary to better understand his work., Comment: 29 pages, in Portuguese

Computer Science - Neural and Evolutionary Computing ,Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence - Abstract
One of the common artificial intelligence applications in electronic games consists of making an artificial agent learn how to execute some determined task successfully in a game environment. One way to perform this task is through machine learning algorithms capable of learning the sequence of actions required to win in a given game environment. There are several supervised learning techniques able to learn the correct answer for a problem through examples. However, when learning how to play electronic games, the correct answer might only be known by the end of the game, after all the actions were already taken. Thus, not being possible to measure the accuracy of each individual action to be taken at each time step. A way for dealing with this problem is through Neuroevolution, a method which trains Artificial Neural Networks using evolutionary algorithms. In this article, we introduce a framework for testing optimization algorithms with artificial agent controllers in electronic games, called EvoMan, which is inspired in the action-platformer game Mega Man II. The environment can be configured to run in different experiment modes, as single evolution, coevolution and others. To demonstrate some challenges regarding the proposed platform, as initial experiments we applied Neuroevolution using Genetic Algorithms and the NEAT algorithm, in the context of competitively coevolving two distinct agents in this game., Comment: This paper is a translation of \cite{karine2015}, published in Portuguese at Brazilian Congress on Computational Intelligence, 2015

It is well known the method of determining the center of mass of a triangular piece in which it is hanged from each one of its vertices while drawing from the vertice its verticals. The intersection of the three verticals is considered as the center of mass, verified by equilibrating the piece over a point object. But not everybody knows that the method was developed by Arquimedes 2,300 years ago, determining the geometrical elements to the medians of the triangle. He demonstrated theoretically its result and, inspired on his demonstration we developed another one, which lends to the ideia and methods of the differential and integral calculus., Comment: 10 pages, in Portuguese, 14 figures

Vehicle Routing Problems are problems in which a set of customers is visited by a set of vehicles. In this work, we model a multiobjective benchmark on a 2D map based on a realistic routing problem of food deliveries by motorcycles in the city of Rio Claro-SP. The generated map of Rio Claro presents 1566 streets with manually extracted coordinates and modeled through polygonal chains. We generate a total of 23 instances containing 2 to 7 deposits and up to 2000 delivery points. This work is an extension of \cite{2020zeni} in which the authors model the problem of mail delivery by postmen in the city of Artur Nogueira. The research of Zeni et al. has one deposit, while in this work we have multiple deposits. In Zeni et al., the city of Artur Nogueira was modeled, with 537 streets. In this work, a map of Rio Claro is modeled, with 1566 streets., Comment: in Portuguese

In this pedagogical work we reviewed the mathematical formalism and the physical interpretation, based on statistical mechanics, of the meta-heuristics called simulated annealing. Moreover, we presented the mathematical formulation of the algorithm and why it is capable to yield the optimal solution or a good approximated solution of a given problem. Furthermore, we described the travelling salesman problem, showing its interpretation as a Markov Chain and how the simulated annealing can be used to optimize it and we did its simulations for two scenarios. Firstly, for 50 cities distributed around a circle and we found the best solution. Finally, we applied the meta-heuristic in a another instance, with 100 nodes random uniformly distributed in a square, and one shows that it allows finding a good solution., Comment: in Portuguese

Computer Science - Networking and Internet Architecture - Abstract
Wireless mesh networks have been presented as a robust, scalable and low cost solution to provide connectivity in long distance areas. However, given its nature, routing strategies must support seamless mobility of nodes while enabling operation with a good performance and fast self-recovery from links fault. The routing approaches that meet these requirements are based on protocols usually used in ad-hoc networks (e.g. OLSR and B.A.T.M.A.N.) and, more recently, in the SDN paradigm (e.g. OpenWiMesh), each one of them having its own pros and cons. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the benefits and impacts of each approach, taking into account models and metrics inherent to the mobility. In this paper, we propose a simplified implementation of mobility support in OpenWiMesh and evaluate its performance compared to other protocols, using differents mobility and data traffic models. The chosen metrics are based on packet loss, occupation of the links with control traffic and delay. Simulated results show that the SDN approach perform better than the classic protocols, beyond flexibility and programmability of SDN itself., Comment: in Portuguese

According to scientific realism, science gives us an approximately true description of what the world is like. But what does it mean? In this chapter, we focus on the ontological and metaphysical aspects of this discussion. That is, we are concerned with the following questions: what there is, according to our best scientific theories? And how are these things that theories say exist? We start from the assumption that a genuine scientific realism must deal with these issues. Taking non-relativistic quantum mechanics as a case study, we discuss some of the challenges currently faced by a genuinely realistic stance. We argue, first, that in the ontological aspect, realists are in the same boat as science, that is, without sufficient epistemic justification to adopt the belief in the entities postulated by a single quantum theory, given that experience (currently) is not able to decide between rival theories; in the metaphysical aspect, realists also encounter problems with theory choice, given the possibility of associating more than one metaphysical theory with the description of the entities postulated by each quantum theory. The same goes for structuralist alternatives, since, even if we accept that scientific theories are committed to the existence of structures, but not objects, we still do not know what structures are, metaphysically. Finally, we move forward in the discussion with the meta-Popperian method, which serves to reduce the metaphysical alternatives associated with the ontological postulates of scientific theories. We may not know what the correct alternative is, but we have been able to progressively check which metaphysical alternatives are incompatible with each scientific theory., Comment: 24 pages, in Portuguese. url: https://wp.ufpel.edu.br/nepfil/files/2020/12/pma_v2_sdf.pdf

Computer Science - Social and Information Networks - Abstract
Social media platforms, such as Twitter, provide a suitable avenue for users (people or patients) concerned on health questions to discuss and share information with each other. In December 2019, a few coronavirus disease cases were first reported in China. Soon after, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a state of emergency due to the rapid spread of the virus in other parts of the world. In this work, we used automated extraction of COVID-19 discussion from Twitter and a natural language processing (NLP) method based on topic modeling to discover the main questions related to COVID-19 from tweets. Moreover, we created a Named Entity Recognition (NER) model to identify the main entities of four different categories: disease, drug, person, and organization. Our findings can help policy makers and health care organizations to understand the issues of people on COVID-19 and it can be used to address them appropriately., Comment: in Portuguese

This work addressed the use of the geometric Brownian motion to simulate the prices of shares listed in the Small Caps index of the Brazilian stock exchange B3 (Brazil, Bolsa, Balc\~ao). The data used refer to the price history from January 2016 to December 2018. The price history of 2019 was used to be compared with the simulated prices. The data was imported from the Yahoo Finance database using the Python programming language, and the simulations were performed for each stock individually, and for portfolios formed based on expected returns, risk and the Sharpe Index. This project of experimental physics practice has consisted of the insertion of CTPM / SJDR high school students in the experimental investigative environment through the application of the concept of Scientific Method. Standardization, or not, in the act of reproduction of an experimental germination practice of seeds of beans, made by students in their respective homes during social isolation, made it possible to obtain distribution curves with events with greater and greater minor correlation between them. In the end, taking advantage of the global context throughout the year 2020, these event distribution curves were used for a conclusive approach as to the effect of social isolation on the "flattening" of the curves of the contaminates by the SARS-Cov-2 virus., Comment: in Portuguese

In this paper, we investigated the neural spikes synchronisation in a neural network with synaptic plasticity and external perturbation. In the simulations the neural dynamics is described by the Hodgkin Huxley model considering chemical synapses (excitatory) among neurons. According to neural spikes synchronisation is expected that a perturbation produce non synchronised regimes. However, in the literature there are works showing that the combination of synaptic plasticity and external perturbation may generate synchronised regime. This article describes the effect of the synaptic plasticity on the synchronisation, where we consider a perturbation with a uniform distribution. This study is relevant to researches of neural disorders control., Comment: in Portuguese, Submitted to Revista Brasileira de Ensino de F\'isica (RBEF)

This paper analyses the Hamiltonian model of drift waves which describes the chaotic transport of particles in the plasma confinement. With one drift wave the system is integrable and it presents stable orbits. When one wave is added the system may or may not be integrable depending on the phase of each wave velocity. If the two waves have the same phase velocity, the system is integrable. When the phase velocities between the two waves are different, the system shows chaotic behaviour. In this model we add a small dissipation. In the presence of a weak dissipation, for different initial conditions, we observe transient orbits which converge to periodic attractors., Comment: in Portuguese, Submitted to Revista Brasileira de Ensino de F\'isica (RBEF)

Palavras chave: Ginzburg-Landau, mesosc\'opico, v\'ortice, supercondutor In this work we present a sequence for the development of this major phenomenological theory for superconductors. We will begin with a brief introduction to the criticality and phase transitions phenomena e then we will describe the Landau theory for second order phase transitions. After that, we will introduce the Ginzburg-Landau theory and the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau theory. As an application of this last one, we will study two mesoscopic systems. One of them a homogeneous sample and the other one a sample with surface defects. We show that the defects strongly influences the vortex dynamics of the system.
