This paper analyzes the work of nursing technicians in Brazil, in primary health care and hospital emergency. 48 interviews were analyzed; their scripts sought to understand who these workers are, how they build the relationships between training and labor insertion, and how they perceive social relations at work. From the analyzes emerged three thematic categories: the (un)predictable trajectories of nursing technicians and the search for a more socially recognized work; times of precariousness of the ways of being a worker and the sufferings of the work of the nursing technicians; only dissatisfaction or multiple possibilities of implication with the work? A tendency for the training of super-qualified technicians is configured, who keep on, to a great extent, performing the same activities, with little freedom of choice in their professional trajectories. The results show overload and difficult working conditions, which coexist with the presence of feelings of satisfaction associated with the affinity with the production of care, the resolubility of care and learning. - Abstract
This article describes part of the doctorate research study, supported by the historical-cultural approach. The research analyzed the interference of pedagogical intervention in role-playing for the psychic development of twenty children from a pre-school class. The methodology was an intervention research and the data came from participant observation, in-field record notebook, photographs and filming. The results proved that the adequate pedagogical intervention in role-playing promotes the level of playing and the development of the child psyche. Thus, the thesis confirmed was that "the intervention of the preschool teacher in role-playing should not be limited to the circumscription of the previous organization of spaces and materials for the effective play of the children. In addition, it is up to this teacher to intervene indirectly and directly on this kind of activity, in order to promote the advancement of the level of role-play and, consequently, the psychic development of the pre-school child". This way, the research clarified the dialectic movement caused by the elements involved in the simultaneity of the advances of the level of playing and the infant psyche, which serves as a support for the theoretical formation and the constitutionimprovement of the pedagogical praxis of the children's education teachers and students of pedagogy courses and related areas. The 2006's Chinese Defense White Paper settled goals for military modernization that would consolidate a force planning strategy aiming long-term results that could make it possible to win local wars under informationized conditions. The combination of policies of dual-use civil-military technology, catch up and absorption of foreign knowledge through joint ventures, China intends to overcome an imitation-based regime and to consolidate a defense industry with indigenous innovation. The paper analyzes how this strategy would reformulate logistic aspects of the Chinese military and promote the development of the fifth largest military industry in the world. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Measuring the citations of a paper has been a determinant factor in assessing its impact and its subsequent influence in a scientific community. Nevertheless, the development of web-driven communication networks, through which scientific knowledge is shared, has driven the emergence of several informal communication channels, drawing the attention to altmetrics as an additional index of scientific impact. However, the pertinence of its use as a form of measure is still understudied. This study employs a methodology of statistical data collection, using Spearman's correlation coefficient to analyse the data. The goal is to understand to what extent a great interest in certain papers, perceived through a high number of citations, is translated into an equally high influence in altmetric indexes. Complementarily, it is analysed whether papers with a high performance in altmetrics exhibit similar attention in the number of citations in formal databases. As a conclusion, a correlation between the number of citations and the number of mentions of a paper has not been found, with the exception of one of the five analyzed datasets. Organizations seek to highlight the practices that generate value to your business. It should also emphasize that the organizational ability to learn becomes crucial to the continuity of the organization. Thus, the research aims to provide analysis of the sustainability reports of the five largest companies in the pulp and paper industry, according to Exame magazine, showing the developed and published actions that contributed to promoting intellectual capital. It is found that the activity under study plays a relevant contribution in the Brazilian economy and it is observed that in recent years the companies in this sector are developing efforts to raise internal and external knowledge, seeking to develop improvements and innovations that differentiate competitively. Try to understand what intellectual capital management practices that companies in the pulp and paper industry develop to increase their competitiveness. The theoretical framework includes the intellectual capital and corporate social responsibility. The research appears as empirical and is supported by a descriptive qualitative approach, using document analysis and data collection technique. The model of Edvinsson and Malone (1997) was used to perform the analyzes of the content of sustainability reports and therefore the theoretical contribution focuses on the extension of studies using this model categories. As company managing the contribution presents practices that contribute to learning and development activities fostering the management of intellectual capital. The social implications that demonstrate through actions linked to corporate social responsibility can promote the management of intellectual capital and develop strategies that contribute to competitiveness. This paper aims to analyze the profile of the scientific production in Accounting Science in the first four editions of Mensário Brasileiro de Contabilidade, 1917, and the most recent edition of the electronic accounting journals located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, 2017, this way linking 100 years, in order not only to compare them, but also to evaluate the contexts that may have led to research the subjects with more publications. In this sense, as a method of analysis, a research with qualitative approach, descriptive purposes and bibliographical and documentary procedures was carried out. It is observed that the theme most studied in the analyzed periodicals of the beginning of the last century was Accounting Education, while the theme with more articles in contemporary journals was Financial Accounting. The reasons are linked to the economic context, in the case of 1917, and to the development of accounting in the 21st century, especially in relation to the adoption of international accounting standards, in the case of 2017. - Abstract
This study aims to analyze the participation of organizations in the constitution of service companies in the area of paper and pulp production. As far as the methodological aspect is concerned, the research is presented as qualitative and descriptive and, as methods of procedures, uses bibliographic research and survey. The data were obtained through questionnaires, previously tested. The selected actors are agents active in organizations that support the creation of companies in the municipality of Três Lagoas, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The universe comprised 268 actors stratified by performance in the organizations approached. Accessibility sampling resulted in 114 valid questionnaires. Data collection occurred from July to August 2015. The results were analyzed with the support of descriptive statistics techniques. Regarding institutional issues related to business creation, 39.36% of respondents say that the first stage (genesis) of the company was never prioritized by its organization. Another important result highlights a higher priority of formal norms in relation to informal norms at the stage of enterprise creation. Moreover, the organizations that act as support for the creation of companies, point out that only 8.48% of the services offered serve the new companies in their "embryonic" stage. It is concluded that the organizations that support the creation of new companies do not develop, as a priority, their activities and actions in the embryonic stage of the companies. - Abstract
The paper presents as a theoretical-methodological contribution to the studies of altmetrics with qualitative approach to analyze the conditions of interaction of the mentions to a set of scientific articles on public policies. Data were collected through Dimensions.api with search for open access articles in queries under the terms "family scholarship" and "school scholarship". A total of 344 articles and 275 altmetric data were published between 2010 and 2017. In order to emphasize the networks and arenas that are formed around public policies, it was possible to perceive that despite the large number of non-specialists sharing the scientific content, these users form isolated micro-clusters, while communicators of science, scientists working in the field of public policies and health mark their authority on the subject in their social networks, showing the relevance of these professionals in the communication of public policies by science. From a qualitative study, it was possible to observe that when it comes to public policies, another category of mentions was identified based on ideological manifestations of the users, being used as an argument for political disputes in social networks. - Abstract
This paper aimed to carry out an analysis of Joule's original texts, written in the middle of the XIX century, trying to understand how the changes in heat concept occurred throughout his work. To support the theoretical analysis, a literature review was made with texts about the Science history and the study of alternative conceptions about heat. Guided by this literature review, the Discursive Textual Analysis was used as the methodology to examine which factors influenced Joule in changing his conception of the nature of heat. Joule initially accept the caloric theory and, instigated by internal aspects of his research and work by other researchers such as: Rumford, Davy and Herapath, he begins to understand the heat as a state of motion of the particles. We believe this work has the potential to serve as a subsidy for the teaching of Physics, where the study of Joule's work can contribute so that there is a reframing of the heat concept for the students. TECHNOLOGICAL innovations management , *INNOVATIONS in business , *PAPER , *INFORMATION technology , *PRINTING - Abstract
This study drew statistical studies between the increased use of information technology and paper consumption in the Brazilian market, using data for twenty years. Through the literature review on the topic and statistical tests, it was investigated whether corporate investments in information technology provided to reduce the consumption of certain types of papers. The results corroborate the earlier study, developed by Moraes Meirelles and Nacimiento (2010), which was analyzed in a period of six years, indicating that the use of IT did not bring benefit to the reduction of paper consumption. It is evident through this study that the values of IT investments by companies participating in this research had positive correlation with the fall in consumption of newsprint and writing paper type, indicating that, possibly, access to digital information through reduced the use of newspapers. It is also evident in the increased consumption of other types of paper such as newsprint and packaging, consumption increased along with IT investments, thus we can deduce that the easy access to computer equipment, including printers would lead to the printing of electronic files, as well as increased sales of electronic equipment tends to increase the use of packing paper. This study aimed to present an application of the Thinking Process (TP) that is a part of the Theory of Constraints (TOC). These tools were developed by Eliyahu Goldratt, and were applied to the preparation of the Undergraduate Final Paper (UFP) process. This study aimed to identify possible causes that prevent the publication of the UFP, and proposes ways in order to obtain such a result. The TP is a set of logical tools, based on cause-and-effect, designed to assist in solving organizational/systemic problems. This is an applied research, taken mainly from qualitative data. Data collection was done through online questionnaire. 336 responses were obtained from 48 courses at a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in the Midwest. The analysis allowed to diagnose, logically, that the difficulty in achieving publication of UFP comes mainly from unfamiliarity of the respondents with the methodological procedures. It is considered necessary to make the area that deals with the research methodology compulsory in the HEI searched. The management constraints, in light of TOC, can contribute to improving the quality level of preparation of the UFPs and thus increase the number of publications from this type of activity. - Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the impact of lockdown on education in the context of social acceleration. In this paper, we address the necessary (re)construction required to enhance the education of adolescents. From this perspective, it examines the potential of the adolescent brain, as advocated by Daniel Siegel. The present study employs a bibliographical research methodology to investigate the impact of social acceleration on education in the aftermath of the lockdown. We emphasize that the adolescent phase is crucial for the development of potentials in the educational context. In this vein, a philosophical analysis of the school is conducted, highlighting it as a space for (re)constructing practices that encourage adolescents to listen to the world around them. Therefore, the school must illuminate the potential of adolescence, such as creativity and openness to novelty, as a space for (re)creating subjects in times of acceleration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Purpose: This article aimed to analyze the effects of CPC 06 (R2) - Leases adoption on the rents line of the Value-Added Statement (VAS) and on the percentage of value-added distributed as rents. Methodology: The approach of this paper is quantitative, and the data collection method is documental. The sample is composed by merchants listed on B3. Analysis of variations and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were applied on the VAS rent line and on the percentage of valueadded distributed as rents of these companies in the three-year period after (2019-2021) and before (2016-2018) the CPC 06 (R2) adoption. Results: It was identified that, after the CPC 06 (R2) adoption, there was a significant reduction in the values of the VAS rent line and in the percentage of value-added distributed as rents of the sample companies. This occurred because companies have been allocating payments of the same economic nature (compensation to third parties for the use of their capital) in three different lines in the VAS, namely rent, depreciation and interest. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test indicated statistically significant differences in the average value of the VAS rents line and in the average percentage of value-added distributed as rents in the three-year period after the implementation of CPC 06 (R2) compared to the previous three-year period. Contributions of the Study: The paper contributes to the literature about leases and VAS, being pioneer in the analysis of the effects of leases on this statement after the CPC 06 (R2) adoption. It also helps users of accounting information to understand the effects of leases on the VAS and properly interpret the lines affected by CPC 06 (R2). Finally, it contributes to regulatory authorities, because indicates a potential need to revise the VAS standard. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MODERNITY - Abstract
Starting from a movement of attraction and repulsion between the ideas of Mário de Andrade and Walter Benjamin on cinema, in this paper are presented simultaneities in the reflection of both authors on the new art. With this aim, it develops a reflected reading of Mario's essays of the 1920s, contrasting with the Benjaminian discussion of the following decade. Although conceptually about Art as Photography the author are not in agreement each other --about a new aesthetic sensitivity that is established in modernity where the image begins to place itself as an aesthetic foundation even in non-cinematographic--, Benjamin's analytical hypothesis may sustain a reading of a novel like Macunaíma, by Mario. Then, the paper discusses the tension in the Brazilian essayist and novelist Oeuvre, paying attention to how Art as Photography stands as power in its own aesthetics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Heart diseases are potentially fatal pathologies considered a risk factor for anxiety disorders. This paper aims to present a systematic literature review on anxiety in cardiology. Five databases were selected: SciElo, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and PubMed. The descriptors "cardiologia" and "ansiedade" and their equivalents in English, "anxiety" and "cardiology" were used. The inclusion criteria were papers published in Portuguese, English, or Spanish between 2017 and 2021. Twenty-six studies were selected, and four topics stood out: socio-demographic profile; anxiety and cardiac rehabilitation; anxiety-related risk and protective factors; and anxiety and depression. The results indicate that healthy anxiety levels play a protective role in promoting patient self-care. However, maladaptive anxiety levels hinder patients from coping with the disease. - Abstract
This article is a theoretical study arising from the umbrella research project, Psychoanalytic Investigation of Clinical Phenomena in Depression in the Context of COVID-19, by the Laboratory for the Investigation of Contemporary Psychopathologies (UFF. Volta Redonda Campus), in an inter-institutional partnership with the Graduate Program in Psychology at UFRJ. The aim of the research is to demarcate and define the effects of the contemporary mutation of the social bond on subjectivity, based on the recognition that humanitarian/sanitary emergencies are catastrophic for subjective functioning. In this paper, we will present the Freudian démarche that led us to recognize melancholization as the main impact of humanitarian/sanitary emergencies on subjective functioning. The paper recalls the use of the term catastrophe and its epistemological status within the framework of psychoanalysis. This term is fundamental to our research hypothesis: humanitarian/sanitary emergencies are a catastrophe because they produce the civilizational ruin of guarantees for the affected population and the suspension of the functioning of subjective defences and sublimatory strategies for dealing with the condition of helplessness. By considering humanitarian/sanitary emergencies as a catastrophe, the paper highlights, in the line of argument developed by Sigmund Freud, the emergence of the affect of despondency or melancholization as pathos in dark times of humanitarian/sanitary emergencies. - Abstract
A number of studies have suggested that the theoretical framework of Controllership lacks a level of systematization due to its current level of development. The present study aims at identifying how the contents of the Controllership Basic Conceptual Framework (CBCF), proposed by Borinelli (2006), have been depicted in papers about Controllership published in national accounting journals. The study employs a documental, descriptive, qualitative and quantitative method. The analysis focused on papers published in journals evaluated by CAPES from A1 to C within the Administration area. The sample was composed of 67 papers from 18 Brazilian journals. Results revealed that in perspective I, distinct ways of treating the object of controllership prevailed as well as the area of efficacy in which controllership is applied. Additionally, the concept of controllership was not clearly defined in the papers of the journals analyzed. Findings show a tendency towards perspectives I and II, the ones that relate controllership in organizations as manager of the process as a whole. In perspective III, a strong relationship between the mission statements and the objectives of controllership prevailed in the sample analyzed. Finally, results indicate a tendency towards the homogeneity in the treatment of conceptual, procedural and organizational aspects of Controllership. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BIODIESEL fuels , *CHROMATOGRAPHY effluent , *TRANSESTERIFICATION - Abstract
Biodiesel is an important renewable energy that stands out mainly due to the possible reduction of oil reserves and environmental impacts intensified by the use of fossil fuels. This biofuel is produced from various oily materials, catalysts and alcohols. Generates glycerin as a byproduct, which is used in different kinds of industries. Given the importance of the fuel and the need to integrate the theoretical content with the practical application of knowledge, this article aims to describe an experiment that can be used for teaching content such as chromatography and transesterification reaction in graduation courses. For biodiesel production were used: soybean oil, methanol and potassium hydroxide, and analysis on paper chromatography was employed: filter paper and the solvents hexane, ethyl ether and acetic acid as eluants. The viscosity and specific gravity of soybean oil and biodiesel were measured. With experiments the academics observed that the transesterification reaction changes the physical-chemical properties of oil when it is converted into biodiesel and understand basic principles governing the chromatographic techniques and organic reactions. - Abstract
This article analyzes the resources used by Arthur Schnitzler (1862-1931) to write the book Fräulein Else (1924). The dialogues, the letters and the inner monologue tell (or show) the story of the beautiful young woman who has the fate of the family in her hands: Else is under pressure to accept the request of the unscrupulous Mr. von Dorsday to get the money that will prevent the arrest of her father. Based on Beth Brait's (2006) character-building study and on the considerations on the flow of consciousness made by the French literary critic Michel Zéraffa (2010), for whom Schnitzler was one of the true precursors of Joyce and Faulkner, a comparison is made between Else and Lieutenant Wilhelm Kasda, the protagonist of the novel Night games (1926), written two years later by the same author. ENVIRONMENTAL regulations , *INNOVATIONS in business , *INNOVATION adoption , *BUSINESS planning , *PAPER industry , *ECONOMICS ,ENVIRONMENTAL aspects - Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the association of environmental regulation with the adoption of both proactive and reactive eco-innovation strategies in the Brazilian pulp, paper, and paper product industry. Methodology was based on a quantitative approach, using a cross-sectional survey by means of a self-administered online questionnaire answered by 117 sector companies of all sizes and Brazilian regions. Data analysis consisted of inferential statistics with logistic regression analysis. The main results show that the organizations participating in this study consider environmental regulation as conducive of proactive, more than reactive, eco-innovation strategies, as opposed to previous literature. This result fits into the evolutionary perspective, which postulates that companies see environmental regulation as less a cost and more an opportunity, directing them to improve productivity and competitiveness. - Abstract
The review by reviewers of the articles submitted to journals is one of the foundational pillars of scientific publication, and guarantee quality and providing a seal of certified knowledge. What is a good review has been scarcely debated, despite the high rejection rates by journals. In this conceptual essay we propose a constructive approach in reviewing based on a developmental perspective that seeks to actually improve the articles submitted. We contribute to the current debate on scientific production and peer review. There are implications for scholars, doctoral programs and journal editors to better manage the editorial process of their journals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
At the currently moment companies tend to seek a differential to compete in the market, emerging the environment as one of them. Environmental quality norms surged in the manufacturing process of products and inputs, being the protection to consumer one of the main benefits of normalization, once it standardized requirements to establish the quality of products and services. ISO 14.001 offers guidelines for environmental management systems, using auditing as a tool for verifying the effectiveness of management systems. This research targeted to analyze the use of environmental auditing by the cellulose and paper companies as a supportive tool in environmental management, investigate the reasons of usage as well as the benefits generated by it along with ABTCP, BRACELPA and SINPASUL. This study shows that the cellulose and paper companies that have invested in the production ecologically correct are achieving good results, financially and competitive. It is clear in the research that independently of the size of the company these results can be achieved for all the companies by adopting environmental auditing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This research aimed to analyse, in relation to previous studies, the evolution of classification and disclosure of environmental costs on cellulose and paper companies listed on the CSI. The research, of a descriptive, documentary and qualitative nature, was based on content analysis of financial statements, accompanying notes, management reports and sustainability reports in the fiscal years 2010 to 2014. The results indicate that companies show environmental costs mainly in a qualitative way and of the positive type. The most part of this information is contained in the sustainability report. As to the classification, the highlighted environmental costs are of these types, (a) prevention costs; (b) internal failure costs; (c) indirect costs; (d) internal costs; (e) costs for contingencies; (f) potentially hidden costs; (g) image and relationship costs, though not by these names. These results demonstrate a change, compared to previous studies on the quality and quantity of disclosure of environmental costs. It is suggested for future research the broadening of samples for other organizational activity sectors, with the aim of possible understanding of the Brazilian environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article is a reflection on the processes of land regularization enacted by the section 68 of the Temporary Constitutional Provisions Act of 1988 in Brazil and its deployment in the State administrative routines. We believe that new elements have been imposed and we should consider them when thinking about reparation policies and recognition of the recipients of these constitutional provisions. We use the expression "the battle of papers" to refer to the negotiations obstructed by the State notarial procedures. Efforts will be made to show the situations in which the struggle for social recognition challenges the idea in which it is conceived that the runaway slaves demand is merely territorial. Observed in their various confrontations, these processes conceal a moral vocation, led by the runaway slaves, that overflows the logical demand for the "World of papers" and allows us to visualize the tensions on the ways of materializing, moved from orality to writing, conducted by notions of science and permeated by notary logic. - Abstract
This text proposes an appreciation of Orlando Ribeiro's writing, combining Luís Vaz de Camões' literature and geography. Based on the geographer's work, the discussion highlights the relations between the notable poet's writing and his travels, places and observations of his environment. In this context, the central objective is to revisit the article "Camões and Geography" and answer the questions raised, e.g., what is the investigative ability to understand Camões and its geography? This paper is based on bibliographical research, a methodology focused on the critical analysis of texts. When analysing Ribeiro's text, results comprehend the relation between the legacy and the fates "Verdes são os campos" and "Soneto Andreia", poems by Camões. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
In this paper we present a categorization of autonomies implemented by indigenous and peasant movements in Latin America into three types: a) juridical versus de facto autonomies; b) explicit versus implicit autonomies; and c) (mono)ethnic versus popular or class-based autonomies. We argue that the debate concerning these different conceptions is of strategic importance both in the dialogue between indigenous and peasant struggles for the defense of territories, and in the question of peasant autonomy, understood as a strategy of struggle. - Abstract
The present paper aims at analyzing the polysemy of the Darwinian concept of adaptation in High School Biology textbooks approved in the 2015 Brazilian National Textbook Program. As a theoretical-methodological tool, we used a semantic matrix containing systematized ontological and epistemological dimensions that provided the bases for the proposition of zones in a Conceptual Profile model of the adaptation concept. The analyses showed that the frequent use of the concept of adaptation in addressing contents from Zoology, Botany, Paleontology, and Physiology reinforced the integrative and central role of Evolution in school discourse. A utilitarian notion of adaptation as a state of being or to refer to characteristics of living beings prevailed among the recording units, in which functionality showed up as a sufficient condition to define them as adaptations, independently of their origin by natural selection. This way of presenting adaptations can lead the students to relegate the role of natural selection in their explanation to a second plane, or even to neglect it entirely, or to an understanding of it as a natural process that necessarily acts to produce characteristics appropriate to the current conditions of the environment. Several approaches involving the concept of adaptation emphasized the notions of goal and purpose, from a teleological perspective. The recurrent use of such teleological explanations may be associated with the fact that this way of thinking is rather common in cognitive activities, such that its use might be justified by the expectation that a language based on it might have heuristic value in the students' conceptual evolution. Nevertheless, there is a necessity of grounding these explanations properly, from an evolutionary and/or organizational approach to living systems, such that modes of thinking incompatible with scientific understanding in contemporary biology are not promoted. This brings about difficulties that are potentially hard to confront in high school, especially if we consider the general absence in teacher education of an appropriate grounding of valid teleological explanations under the light of contemporary biological thinking. - Abstract
In this study, we analyzed versions of vulnerability in Brazilian scientific articles on environmental disasters. To achieve this goal, we carried out a literature review in a database specialized on disaster and health issues and a reticulated bibliographical review in the retrieved articles. We described the article's content, identified linguistic repertoires of vulnerability and analyzed the versions of vulnerability each group of repertoires performed. Our results show that the majority of authors do not define conceptually what vulnerability is, but they associate areas of knowledge qualified to speak on the subject, label people as vulnerable and rank vulnerabilities through the use of instruments of measurement and quantification. We conclude that it is necessary to discuss the ways by which scientific literature has performed vulnerability versions based on linguistic repertoires in order to encourage dialogue between fields. - Abstract
The publication of scientific articles is one of the requirements imposed on Brazilian researchers and contributes decisively to their reputation, mobility and financial benefits. To assess the quality of publications, Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) created the Qualis system, that classifies journals into eight levels - A1 (highest) to C (lowest) - inferring the quality of the articles from the strata of the journals in which they are published. This article examines the flaws and gaps that represent factors for rejecting articles submitted to management journals, comparing the motives for rejection between journals from different strata. Methodologically, we conducted an empirical study with data obtained by questionnaire from 82 editors of Brazilian management journals. Contrary to expectations, the results do not point to clear differences in the factors that lead to rejection between journals from different strata. This article has contributions and implications for researchers, publishers and regulators. In particular, the thoughtful reader can identify the most frequent problems and gaps and be more prepared to produce better articles for future submissions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study was to evaluate the germination viability of jabuticaba açu [Plinia cauliflora (DC.) Berg] seed, according to conditions and the storage time. The experiment was carried out at UTFPR - Câmpus Dois Vizinhos, Brazil. The seeds were separated into two groups, with one it remained a mucilage surrounding the seed and without mucilage. The seeds with and without mucilage were put in Pet® bottle, paper Kraft® bag at natural condition temperature and paper Kraft® bag in the refrigerator (6 °C ± 1 °C), which it was stored during 8 periods (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 60 days). After each period, the seeds were sown in Gerbox boxes without lid containing sand as substrate and it taken to BOD at 25 °C without photoperiod. The experiment was completely randomized in a factorial 2 x 8 x 3 (presence of mucilage x storage period x storage location), with 4 replications of 50 seeds each experimental unit. The seeds without mucilage, in PET® bottle were with viability until 30 days of storage, with 80% emergence until fifth day to Kraft® paper. With mucilage, on Kraft® paper, the seeds kept viability unchanged until twenty days of storage. The mucilage of the jabuticaba açu seeds should be removed and then stored in a PET® bottle at room temperature. These conditions allow no compromise of emergency and vigor for a maximum of 25 days. Parasitology and Medical Entomology teachers have identified difficulties on teaching-learning processes and opportunities to elaborate new teaching materials. Thus, we had engaged in interdisciplinary efforts between Biology and Informatics to develop teaching materials in paper and in digital format, accessed through computer and internet: a virtual atlas to support practical classes; a virtual identification key to guide and support students during taxonomic identification; and an educational game to promote students' curiosity while they have fun. Grounded in Semiotic and Communication theory, we discuss aspects of some medias used in the production of teaching materials that influence their diffusion and knowledge access. In particular, we analyze what can be explored in the migration from paper to digital world (computer + internet). We conclude with reflections about our interdisciplinary collaboration, ways to appropriate the potential of digital technologies in education, and access problems to digital technology. INVESTIGATIVE reporting , *JOURNALISM - Abstract
This paper resorts to a literature review to cover 100 years of investigative journalism history, focusing on the concept by choosing journalistic investigation as the prime embodiment of high-quality journalism, providing a broad perspective on the topic. Resuming the debate on the differences between investigative journalism and day-to-day journalism, which still creates rifts among the journalistic class, but also within academia, this article dismisses the all-encompassing view that all journalism is investigative. By assessing the impact of external factors, such as the market and technology, on the matrix of the investigative journalism concept, this analysis seeks to identify potential solutions that can sustain the watchdog role associated with investigative journalism. As such, this paper delves into the new frontiers of investigative journalism, simultaneously highlighting the potential of digital technology to keep powers under scrutiny in an increasingly complex world; create collaborative networks among journalists that expand the scope and enhance the impact of published stories; foster partnerships between media organisations, nonprofit organisations and universities; and find long overdue solutions to ensure that investigative journalism reaches peripheral territories, where it still has an utterly marginal presence. TECHNOLOGICAL innovations & the environment , *PAPER industry , *CONTEXTUAL analysis , *PAPER industry & the environment , *SENIOR leadership teams , *PEARSON correlation (Statistics) - Abstract
This article is grounded in the theoretical framework of technological change or radical innovation, which is anchored in an evolutionary dynamics perspective. In this context, the study specifically tackles the strategies of eco-innovations, defined as innovations with an emphasis on sustainable development, resulting in its entire life cycle, in decreased environmental risk, pollution, and other negative impacts of resources use, when compared to the existing alternatives. The general objective was analyzing the relationships between contextual factors internal to organizations and the adoption of proactive and reactive strategies for eco-innovation, focusing on the sector of pulp, paper, and paper products. The methodological approach is quantitative, through cross-sectional survey with self-applied questionnaires answered by 117 companies. For data analysis, inferential statistics by Pearson's correlation coefficient and determination was used. The main results show that there was a significantly positive relationship between top management support, technological competence, and environmental formalization, by defining proactive eco-innovation strategies. This corroborates, to some extent, the existing theory that these factors drive proactive strategies in an effective way. With these results, it may be claimed that this study contributes to increase knowledge in the area of eco-innovation strategies, by defining the variables of constructs and tests of hypotheses, as well as it contributes both to the existing theory and to the management of eco-innovations in the organizations, having a potential to serve as a guide in providing an innovative approach to environmental management of companies in the sector and in other sectors. Its originality lies on the fact that it is a study specifically designed and applied in an empirical way, providing information on the management of eco-innovation, on drivers and effects, enabling detailed analyses, which are regarded as gaps in the literature.
