- Abstract
Background and Objectives: Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) was introduced to Korea in the 1980s and has since developed rapidly. There have been many changes in ESS over this period. Thus, in this paper, we explore trends in the clinical characteristics of ESS. Subjects and Method: We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent the ESS at 000 Hospital performed by a single surgeon at a 10-year interval. By comparing 106 patients who underwent ESS in 2003 and 108 patients who underwent ESS in 2013, we investigated changes in ESS in terms of the target group of surgical indications, CT scores, range of operation and complications. Results: With regard to surgical indications, the proportion of patients who underwent surgery due to nasal polyps in 2013 (32.4%) was lower than in 2003 (59.4%), while the proportion of patients undergoing fungal sinusitis surgery in 2013 (13.9%) was higher than in 2003 (0.0%). In terms of preoperative CT evaluation, Lund-Mackay scores for the maxillary sinus, ethmoid sinus, and ostiomeatal unit were lower in 2013 than in 2003. The proportion of ESS performed only in the maxillary sinus in 2013 (20.0%) was higher than in 2003 (10.0%). Conclusion: According to this study, the range and extent of sinusitis was favorable in 2013 compared to in 2003. The group of patients requiring treatment for only maxillary sinus disease accounted for a larger proportion of patients in 2013 than in 2003. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of organizational socialization, perceived organizational vision, and attitude toward organizational change on organizational commitment of nurses working in one hospital. Methods: This study was conducted with 441 participants in a hospital in A city, South Korea from Nov. 1 to 30 2017. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression with the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. Results: There were significant correlations among organizational socialization, perceived organizational vision, attitude toward organizational change and organizational commitment. The factors that significantly influenced organizational commitment were organizational socialization (β=.10 p=.015). perceived organizational vision (β=.20, p<.001), and attitude toward organizational change (β=.44, p<.001). These variables explained 50.0% of the variance in organizational commitment. Conclusion: The findings indicates that organizational socialization, perceived organizational vision and attitude toward organizational change affect organizational commitment. - Abstract
Organizational culture provides organizational members with identity, homogeneity and behavioral guidance, and promotes organizational commitment and enhances the stability of social systems. What organizational culture positively influences organizational performance? In this study, we tried to categorize organizational culture as creativity, change, cooperation, trust and knowledge sharing for specific public institutions and to diagnose the organizational culture by examining the level of recognition of the organizational members. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of organizational culture on organizational culture. The result of this study shows that the degree of future - oriented and cooperative culture of the public institutions that are the subject of research is not so high. In order to improve the performance of the organization, it is necessary to create a futuristic and cooperative culture. In order to create such a culture, various efforts must be made to continuously communicate and build trust among the members of the organization. In particular, leadership efforts to distribute, transfer, and trust authority to subordinates are a priority. In other words, it is very difficult to build a future-oriented, collaborative culture successfully without the efforts of managers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Jainism proposes a unique theory of reality in which the extreme positions of absolute identity and permanence on the one hand and absolute difference and change on the other are avoided in favour of integrative ontology. Here, identity and difference as well as permanence and change are coordinated. The vertical and horizontal descriptions of the nature of reality are reflected in the basic definitions of substance and existence. This paper examines how this ontology is outlined in the works of Kundakunda and Umāsvāti.
