In the context of Judiciary or Forensic Linguistics, this paper shows the results of a study on rhotic consonants in prepausal position (in the spontaneous speech of central peninsular Spanish) in order to assess their forensic value for identifying speakers. The variables that have been analysed are the number of components and the acoustic features of the first and second components of the consonant, which correspond to the closure and opening phases, respectively. The results have shown some significant differences amongst speakers, which is why the rhotics are considered a useful segmental element in comparing speech samples on judiciary purposes

This paper develops some consideration about the issues raised by the reconstruction of 'architectures on paper' of contemporary masters.Generally archival drawings are patchy and fragmented and refer to different ideative moments and paths of inspiration that lend themselves to numerous and different interpretative readings. Moreover it's necessary a careful analysis of the author's poetics and significance of his work. Digital methods and techniques of representation, ranging from 3D modeling, video producing and digital fabrication, should be carefully selected and adapted to the characteristics identified through the interpretation of the project and what it is intended to communicate. In the cases studies of Mollino's 'ideal houses' were tested the capabilities of BIM modeling for this aims.

The aim of our study is evaluating occupational exposure in a factory named "Poligrafico Zecca dello Stato" in Foggia. The workers had a occupational disease "chlorine related parodontal disease" indemnified by INAIL (Italian Occupational Assurance). The study demonstrated the workers have been indemnified worked as engineer, drying and electrolysis process employed. The study showed that the workers indemnified without legal action were different in respect of workers that take legal action, because the last showed, paradoxically, a chlorine occupational exposure. The explanation of this paradox might be the production cycle non acknowledge by operators.

Il contributo intende offrire un resoconto e alcune riflessioni intorno alla prima edizione del master biennale internazionale Conservation of antique photographs and paper heritage, svoltosi tra Il Cairo e Catania, promosso dall’Università di Catania, dall’Università di Helwan (Il Cairo), dall’Ambasciata italiana in Egitto e dal Centro italo egiziano per la conservazione delle fotografie antiche e del patrimonio cartaceo (EICAP). Il master ha visto la presenza di 22 studenti egiziani e di numerosi docenti, sia italiani sia egiziani, che si sono alternati nei quattro semestri offrendo un contributo di rilievo all’approfondimento in chiave internazionale delle tematiche inerenti la gestione e la conservazione del patrimonio documentario, in modo specifico, di quello cartaceo e fotografico. Di grande valore e interesse la collaborazione, in margine al master, con istituzioni bibliotecarie di rilievo internazionale quali, ad esempio, la Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia worldwide. Thromboembolism from the left atrial appendage (LAA) is the most feared complication in patients with AF. The cornerstone for the management of AF is oral anticoagulation to reduce the incidence of cardioembolic stroke. There is, however, a significant proportion of patients who cannot undergo long-term oral anticoagulation. Transcatheter LAA occlusion is an evolving technology with proven benefits in terms of AF-related stroke prevention, representing a valid alternative to anticoagulation for high-risk patients with contraindications for long-term oral anticoagulation. This has resulted in the development of a plethora of transcatheter devices to achieve endocardial occlusion or epicardial exclusion of the LAA.A panel of expert Italian cardiologists gathered under the aegis of the Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology (SICI-GISE) with the aim of reviewing the most relevant aspects of LAA occlusion, underlying anatomy and pathophysiology, summarizing current clinical knowledge, and discussing the practicalities of available devices and imaging techniques. Finally, the position paper highlights the importance of an adequate environment and of an appropriate organization in order to optimize all steps of the procedure.

The paper presents the work now being carried out to develop digital archives of the historical drawings amassed by the former Department of Architectural and Environmental Surveying, Analysis and Drawing (Radaar) at the University Sapienza School of Architecture in Rome. These archives, consisting of original drawings on paper, are a collection of graphic material produced in connection with the courses in Monumental Surveying, Elements of Architectural and Monumental Surveying and Life Drawing held between 1935 and 1980, and provide invaluable testimony to the type of academic training offered to architects in those years.

Surgidos em meados de 1990, os street papers constituem uma nova tendência na comunicação social, capaz de promover a interação como também trocas de experiências entre os atores envolvidos no processo de sua elaboração. Apesar da comprovada eficácia dos jornais de rua, não existe ações ou recursos governamentais voltados para o fomento destes veículos de comunicação.

Between the late 7th and the early 8th Centuries eleven bishops of Rome were "Greeks", Greek-speakers born in Sicily or in the eastern regions of the Mediterranean world. Many historians labelled those years as the «Byzantine captivity»of the papacy, assuming that "Greek" popes necessarily were imposed by a Byzantine Emperor. On the contrary, it has been argued that Greek popes did not matter, because the city of Rome was politically already Byzantine and culturally Greek, point of arrival of a considerable migration of Easterners who simply rose through the ranks of the Roman ecclesiastical hierarchy. Through the analysis of Agatho's papacy (678-681), the first "Greek" pope, and his role in the Monothelite controversy, it will be shown that the debate should be reopened. Their "Greekness", neither ethnic nor political, but cultural, did matter, and it shaped the cultural, political and ideological history of the papacy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Este artículo presenta los resultados obtenidos a través del uso de herramientas informáticas (Provalis Research), también conocidas como CAQDAS (Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software), para el análisis de los escritos de Peirce, las bases estadísticas de una cronología para su último periodo intelectual y la justificación de una posible periodización del Pragmaticismo, además de la descripción de ciertos descubrimientos realizados en nuestro trabajo de archivo sobre los documentos y manuscritos originales de Peirce. Este trabajo es una parte de nuestra investigación en la Universidad de Quebec en Montreal (UQAM) y la Biblioteca Houghton de la Universidad de Harvard.

The development of ICT has important consequences on social experience and on the processes of subjectivation. These changes have contributed to undermining some assumptions of sociological theory, such as the status of subject and object of knowledge, the concepts of actor, action and the social, the conditions of possibility of social criticism. The paper reconstructs some of the main logic of transformation of these assumptions, moving from a discussion of L. Gallino's theses on the relationship between subjectivity, socio-technical change of the web, changes in the elaboration of knowledge and new forms of social criticism. It shows how the epistemic shift generated by these changes leads to an anti-essentialist critique of sociological categories. In this line some critical potentialities of the Actor-Network Theory concepts, of the Goffmanian category of frame and of the infra-empirical perspective proposed by the socio-analysis are shown. Caterina Sforza (1462/3-1509) was famous during her lifetime because of her twelve-year regency over her husbands' territories in the Romagna region of Italy after his assassination. Scholars have focused on her political maneuverings and bold sexuality, but Sforza’s patronage and collecting were integral parts of her statecraft and merit further attention. Careful analysis of the surviving artifacts, combined with information culled from archival sources, reveals that Sforza, like her elite peers, was an astute patron and collector despite financial limitations. She updated fortresses and made key improvements to her subject cities, projects that demonstrated her beneficence as ruler. She also refurbished her residence to make it reflect the proper character of a prince and express humanist notions of magnificence and splendor. Always in need of more money, Sforza on occasion sought out workshops that championed cost-effective serial production and called on community support for some of the religious projects she initiated.

The article examines an inventory of the merchandise present in a Florentine stationer's shop in 1348. The list not only provides a record of the goods, but also includes their market value, enabling the valuation of the paper notebooks contained in the shop. As a result, it becomes feasible to determine the very high cost of the four large paper notebooks considered a few years earlier as having an equivalent value as the renowned code of Dante's Comedy owned by Giovanni Villani. The use of innovative technologies in the health sector can be a key element in clinical risk management. In order to reduce errors in medical recording and to provide medico-legal evidence, Digital Pen & Paper technology has been adopted by medical staff of a hospital in Milan. The Authors introduce the first results of this trial: notable advantages have been reported in compilation, transmission and storage of medical records. Furthermore, this technology could provide evidence in evaluating medical malpractice claims.

En el setanta-cinquè aniversari de la mort d'Eduard Toda, que va ser diplomàtic, egiptòleg, escriptor i historiador, que va redescobrir i divulgar l'alguerès, que va reconstruir i restaurar Escornalbou i Poblet, que va compilar bibliografies i va ser un bibliòfil i un mecenes exemplar, s'analitza en primer lloc aquest darrer aspecte de la seva activitat que va contribuir a enriquir les biblioteques i els arxius del país. A continuació es presenta la seva relació amb l'Escola de Bibliotecàries que es va iniciar gràcies al lligam que havia establert amb la Biblioteca de Catalunya amb les seves generoses donacions de materials bibliogràfics. A partir de la documentació conservada a l'arxiu de l'antiga Escola de Bibliotecàries, es mostren les distintes facetes d'aquella relació: les excursions a Escornalbou que es complementen amb tot un recorregut cultural, les estades de les alumnes a Poblet on col·laboren en l'organització de la biblioteca pobletana, la introducció de les classes de restauració en el pla d'estudis de la carrera, la posada en marxa d'un laboratori de restauració que, per moltes dècades, compartiran l'Escola i la Biblioteca de Catalunya, etc. Certament, els vincles de Toda amb l'Escola es van caracteritzar per un afecte mutu i algunes de les activitats que va promoure amb les alumnes van contribuir a donar a l'Escola aquell toc d' Diplomat, Egyptologist, writer and historian, Eduard Toda is remembered as the man who rescued the Algherese dialect of Catalan from oblivion and who helped rebuild the monastery libraries of Escornalbou and Poblet. On the occasion of the seventy-fifth anniversary of his death, this paper reviews Toda’s book collecting activities, his general love of books and his outstanding work as a benefactor of libraries, which together contributed to enriching our country’s book heritage. The paper then turns to Toda’s relationship with the school for librarians the Escola de Bibliotecàries, which was founded thanks to his donation of a number of book collections to the Library of Catalonia. As recorded in the archives of the old Escola, this relationship was based on a number of different activities: Toda’s trips to Escornalbou, which also provided an opportunity for cultural study; his organization of periods of residence for student librarians at Poblet to help rebuild the monastery’s library; his creation of classes in book restoration in degree courses in librarianship; and the creation of a workshop for restoring library materials, which for many decades helped to link the Escola and the Library of Catalonia. Finally, as the article shows, Toda’s ties with the Escola de Bibliotecàries were reinforced by the mutual affection existing between him and the school as well as by the activities he organized with its students, which gave the school its singular nature as a place of study during the 1930s.

Since the mid-1980s, Sándor Ferenczi's (1873-1933) theories have stirred up a lot of interest also in Italy and motivated the publication of both his scientific papers (of psychoanalytic as well as non-psychoanalytic topics) and his letters. However, a lot of material of both theoretical and historical interest still remains to be translated. Among the many instances of important material that has not been translated into Italian we can mention the third volume of the Freud-Ferenczi letters and the correspondence between Ferenczi and Ernest Jones, and many minor but quite interesting papers. Three of these documents are translated here into Italian for the first time: two short articles and a newly discovered letter. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The biography of a person allows us to reconstruct his lifestyle, his personality, and this finds correspondence in his thought. The early recollections which, according to Adler, can provide valuable clues like projective tests and dreams cannot be considered a biography and, especially if taken from multiple sources, must be carefully screened and verified. If you don't do it, the Individual Psychology is banalized and discredited. Similarly, the important assessment of the position in the family constellation cannot be simplistically transferred to the fruitful contrast of ideas between Freud and Adler, especially now that there is documentary evidence of their debate and the schism of the psychoanalytic movement. Freud's Papers on Technique is commonly thought to collect various essays that reflect Freud's opinions about how a proper psychoanalyst should behave. Accordingly, today's analysts ask themselves whether - or how strictly - they should "obey" the Patriarch's hundred-year-old "rules". This mistakes the overall sense of the book as a book. Freud is reporting an extended, empirical experiment on a radically new type of (psychoanalytic) phenomenon that he had chanced upon. He tries to determine the variables that either provoke or dispel the phenomenon. He is not primarily concerned with theory, efficacy or comfort. The data are often unwelcome, and are thrust upon him. Freud's report is in the form of conditional assertions of fact, as though to say, "if you do X you will produce Y". He has found that the eliciting behaviors often run counter to normal social reflexes, so anyone wishing to reproduce the findings will need graphic alternatives as replacements. There for Freud conveys his results not so much by rules or values, as by metaphors and images that help an analyst adopt an attitude that elicits the phenomenon. Unfortunately, readers are generally unaware of the convergent aim of the book's explorations, though that is what gives those terms their sole and specific purpose. We see readers seize one or another of the papers, pull out this or that familiar cliché or metaphor, and give it whatever rationale they assume "it must have had". Since Freud provided these striking terms and images as aids in marshaling an un-definable and un-prescribable experience, uprooting them from their precise place in the inquiry turns guide-posts into loose lumber. The result is fruitless debate circling personal taste and opinion, and tragic loss of access to a delicate and unnatural experience that will never be encountered without a deliberate plan. The article tries to describe a model of analysis to evaluate and measure real benefits and organizational effects arising from the process of paper digitization and e-invoicing for the Italian Public Administrations. The analysis is focused also on the interaction between citizens, professionals, companies and the Italian public administrations. The approach at the basis of the investigation highlights several critical traits of the digitization activity and delivers an analysis that displays how those difficulties brought forward by motivational and involvement factors. The digital transformation in the Public sector can give several opportunities from the organizational point of view, but at the same time can propose some complex difficulties for the delivering of effective services and for the innovation development.

The present paper concerns an unpublished autograph by Leopardi belonging to the Neapolitan Papers (XII.7). It contains a list of classic authors, each followed by a series of numbers. As the references to the 1549 Basilea edition show, the list is a study and an index of the 'Anthologion' by Johannes Stobæus, interrupted at the Sermo IX. Such study can be dated, for both internal and external reasons, to the last months of 1825. It is a witness of the working method adopted by the poet from Recanati who, by connecting each reading to the origin of a new work, proceeds by successive selections, up to the final composition. In this case, the objective - that was never reached, although tracks are recognizable - was to publish an index and translation of the Bizantine author. The autograph is therefore an evidence that helps understanding the criteria of the choices made.

The authors suggest the use of Baecchi's staining for the morphological demonstration of spermatozoa on paper tissues. They affirm that the method suggested allows good results to be obtained even using material abandoned at the site of sexual aggression.

By using unpublished documents, the essay retraces the funerals that were officiated in Modena during the first half of the seventeenth century and investigates, for the first time, the ceremonials and catafalques built in honour of Alfonso II (1599), Virginia de' Medici (1615), Isabella of Savoy (1626), Cesare d'Este (1629), Maria Farnese (1646) and Vittoria Farnese (1649). The contribution shows the decorative choices made for the Este family funerals, the iconographies in honour of the departed and the names of the artists who created them. The study includes the reports of the XVII century chronicles and contributions of ambassadors who took part in the Este ceremonies to demonstrate the high political meaning of the ephemeral funerary conceived and developed in the ducal court.
