Background: The Coronavirus Disease 2019 has become a global pandemic, affecting many countries, including Indonesia. The number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, particularly in Jakarta, continues to increase. Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors influencing compliance with the COVID-19 prevention protocol among Jakarta's residents. Methods: An accidental sampling technique was used in this study, with the calculation of hypothesis testing of the difference between two proportions, resulting in a total sample of 440 respondents. Data was collected through an online survey using Google Forms. Results: The study found that education level (p-value=0.003; OR=1.818), knowledge (p-value=0.01; OR=6.669), attitude (p-value=0.01; OR=7.789), perception of vulnerability to COVID-19 (p-value=0.01; OR=3.307), social support (p-value=0.01; OR=3.733), and supervision (p-value=0.01; OR=3.435) had a significant relationship with compliance with the COVID-19 prevention protocol. However, facilities and infrastructure (p-value=0.341; OR=0.453) had no significant relationship with compliance. From the odds ratio data, knowledge and attitude significantly influence adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures. Individuals well-informed about COVID-19 are 6.6 times more likely to comply, and a positive attitude increases this likelihood by 7.8-fold. This underscores the strong link between awareness and adherence to recommended protocols. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of understanding the factors affecting adherence to COVID-19 prevention protocols. It guides policymakers and public health professionals in devising effective strategies to curb the spread of the disease.

The ”2019 novel coronavirus” known as “ the 2019-nCoV” or simply “COVID-19” has been declared by the World Health organization (WHO), in first quarter of 2020, as a world pandemic and a public health emergency of international concern. Alas, many details related to the COVID-19 have remained unsolved completely. The success of government strategies in fighting the COVID-19 relays mainly on the results from epidemiological or statistical studies. Statistical models play a major role in providing reliable results based on appropriate analyses. Traditional (one-part) models, mixture models and mixed-effects models for counts are used to investigate effects of the WHO-regions and Cumulated COVID-19 cases on the outcome variable COVID-19 new deaths tolls. Overall result reveals there is a strong association between number of new deaths COVID-19 with predictors including the WHO regions and cumulated cases. Besides, models that account for the overdispersion feature have smallest AICs and have reasonable regression model fits.

The Philippines had several COVID-19 infection waves brought about by different strains and variants of SARS-CoV-2. This study aimed to describe COVID-19 outcomes by infection waves using machine learning. A cross-sectional surveillance data review design was employed using the DOH COVID Data Drop dataset as of September 24, 2022. The predominant variant(s) of concern divided the dataset into time intervals representing the infection waves: ancestral (A0), Alpha/Beta (AB), Delta (D), and Omicron (O). Descriptive statistics and machine learning models were generated from each infection. The final data set consisted of 3,896,206 cases wherein 98.39% of cases recovered while 1.61% died. The highest and lowest CFR was observed during the ancestral wave (2.49) and the Omicron wave (0.61%), respectively. In all four data sets, higher age groups had higher CFRs, and F-score and specificity were highest using naïve Bayes. Area under the curve (AUC) was highest in the naïve Bayes models for the A0, AB and D models, while sensitivity was highest in the decision tree models for the A0, AB and O models. The ancestral, Alpha/Beta and Delta variants seem to have similar transmission and mortality profiles, while the Omicron variant caused lesser deaths despite increased transmissibility.

Background: The new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a highly contagious disease. The disease has spread rapidly and widely around the world, and was declared as pandemic in March 2020 by WHO. The neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a biomarker that provides important information about the status of systemic inflammation, including in COVID-19. Bacterial co-infection is commonly identified in viral respiratory tract infections such as SARS-CoV-2 and is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Objective: This study aims to retrospectively analyze clinical data of COVID-19 patients who were treated at Dr. Moewardi General Hospital in Surakarta, to determine the effect of NLR and bacterial co-infection with mortality and length of hospital stay of COVID-19 patients. Methods: This study is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design using secondary data from 87 adult COVID-19 patients at Dr. Moewardi Hospital in August 2021. The sampling method used was purposive sampling of all adult patients aged 18 years or above who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 and hospitalized. Results: It was found that there was a strong effect of bacterial co-infection on NLR (r= 0.528). It was also found that NLR and bacterial co-infection simultaneously affected the length of hospital stay (Sig.= 0.02) and mortality (Sig.= 0.027). Partially, the effect of NLR on length of hospital stay was found (Sig.= 0.045). Conclusion: NLR and bacterial co-infection have an effect on mortality and length of hospital stay of COVID-19 patients.

SARS-Cov-2 is a new virus that causes respiratory diseases that can cause respiratory system disorders, acute pneumonia, and death. The COVID-19 endemic continues to show positive things towards the endemic. The step to prevent COVID-19 is to convey information to the public regarding the prevention of COVID-19. The importance of hygiene in food handlers so that safe food is served is the focus of the implementation of Community Service activities. Hygiene implementation behavior is supported by nutritional knowledge, attitudes or behavior of the handler starting from the preparation, cleaning, processing, transportation to serving to consumers. Booklets as a health education communication medium can increase the average knowledge and nutritional attitudes of the handler towards the implementation of institutional food hygiene. Community service through a community partnership program was carried out through counseling and simulations using booklet media in Batu Merah Village as an effort to implement food handler hygiene during the Covid-19 endemic period. The counseling participants were food handlers at the Batu Merah Village Institutional Food Site, totaling 50 people. This activity adds insight into the thinking of participants regarding the application of hygiene, and through simulations the handlers can realize hygiene practices and be applied every day at food service institutions.

The impact of the Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, which emerged in 2019, has not only threatened public health but also affected the global economy, including Indonesia. The government has initiated various aid programs to assist the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. These aids are expected to alleviate the economic burden on the affected population. One such aid program is the Direct Cash Assistance (Bantuan Langsung Tunai/BLT) from the Village Fund, which has been distributed since the onset of COVID-19 in Indonesia. However, the distribution of BLT has encountered several issues, including misidentification of recipients and double or excessive distribution beyond the established criteria. To address these issues, data mining for the classification of aid recipients can be employed. This study uses the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) method for data mining classification to classify residents' data with new patterns, ensuring aid distribution aligns with the criteria and eliminating double recipients. The application of K-Nearest Neighbor to the population data in Kasomalang District yields optimal performance, with evaluation results showing an accuracy of 96%, precision of 0.98, recall of 0.96, and F1 score of 0.97 using the confusion matrix method.

Head trauma is a head injury caused by external forces in the head or body that results in disruption of the normal functioning of the brain. According to the CDC, deaths from head injuries were about 60,000 in 2016, and rose to more than 61,000 in 2017. The COVID-19 pandemic had caused poor non-COVID patient care, especially in low- and lower-middle-income countries with limited access to health facilities, resulting in increased morbidity and mortality, including among patients with head injuries. The purpose of this study was to understand the characteristics, duration of hospital stay, and difference of time to surgery interval in Traumatic Brain Injury patients in Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital Bandung before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study was performed through analytical methods with a cross-sectional study design using analysis of medical records of head trauma patients treated in Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital Bandung, Indonesia in the period before the pandemic (February 2018-February 2020) and during the pandemic (March 2020 - September 2021). Data analysis showed significant differences in length of hospitalization and operating intervals before and during the pandemic (p=0.04 and p=0.03), showing that there are differences in interval operation and duration of stay between patients with head trauma before the pandemic and during the pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic negatively impacted the economy's flow in the majority of areas across the world. Reduced economic activity due to travel restrictions and lockdowns imposed to stop the virus's spread caused economic recessions in the pandemic-affected areas. MSMEs are the backbone of the Philippines, providing 99.5% of the nation’s business population and 65.10% of the nation's workforce. In addition to dealing with extraordinary economic and social challenges over the past two years, SME preparation for transitioning to a digital and sustainable economy has been necessary. The researcher will use a Systematic Literature Review to assess the transparency and consistency of the screening procedure and the approaches to coping applied by Philippine MSMEs in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study will make use of three research guide questions. 1) What are the pandemic risks and their impact on Philippine MSMEs? 2) What coping strategies do Philippine MSMEs use to deal with risks and pandemic risk impacts? According to the review, human movement restrictions (Lockdowns), financial constraints/ revenue losses, operating difficulties, economic crisis and recession, and job losses are impacts of the pandemic on MSMEs. Furthermore, the study listed four essential coping strategies: digital and technological adoption/adaptation, government financial support/packages, modification of business models, and implications for financial stability (loans). This study will contribute to ideas in innovation and technological advancement, business improvement, and wise cost distribution.

This article discusses the desire and anxiety of mutual attraction experienced by traditional and popular artists in West Sumatra during the COVID-19 pandemic. Musicians in tradition and entertainment who rely on the survival of music performance services are under heavy pressure by the COVID-19 pandemic situation because performances are rarely performed, even banned. Musicians committed to the creative field of creation experience the same thing. Live music performances are considered to be the cause of the gathering of many people, which results in being vulnerable to the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. However, they still channel the desire to perform live with the risk of getting in the way. Some are creative, using digital internet technology and social media to perform virtually. The research method used in collecting data is a mixture of field and virtual research. The tug-of-war between desire and anxiety is realized through live and virtual performances with non-maximal results. Music performances in the context of traditional music, composition, festivals, and entertainment during the COVID-19 period in West Sumatra are in the range between hope and fear in an incomparable dynamic of balance; they tend to be afraid rather than do it. Anxiety still haunts activists and event managers of musical performances.

Data journalism, identified with the watchdog role, is no longer considered a universal value. There are roles outside this ideal, which are adjusted to the conditions and capabilities of the media and journalists. This research explores the evolving role of data journalism beyond the traditional watchdog role. This study assesses the performance of journalists' roles shown in 317 data-based COVID-19 news on Tirto.id, Katadata.co.id, and Kompas.id. The analytical framework used is adopted from the concept of journalistic role performance, which assesses the presence of an interventionist role, a watchdog role, a facilitator-loyal role, a role oriented towards fulfilling readers' needs, an upload-oriented role, and a role oriented towards supporting citizens. The results of the quantitative content analysis show a tendency to hybridize the role performance shown by journalists in data-based COVID-19 news. This finding shows that data journalism, which is developing in Indonesia, performs various additional roles not limited to the watchdog role. Hybridization reflects adaptation to actual conditions and specific needs.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted global health, resulting in numerous fatalities and presenting substantial challenges to national healthcare systems due to a sharp increase in cases. Key to managing this crisis is the rapid and accurate identification of COVID-19 infections, a task that can be enhanced with Machine Learning (ML) techniques. However, ML applications can also generate biased and potentially unfair outcomes for certain demographic groups. This paper introduces a ML model designed for detecting both COVID-19 cases and biases associated with specific patient attributes. The model employs Decision Tree and XGBoost algorithms for case detection, while bias analysis is performed using the DALEX library, which focuses on protected attributes such as age, gender, race, and ethnicity. DALEX works by creating an "explainer" object that represents the model, enabling exploration of the model's functions without requiring in-depth knowledge of its workings. This approach helps pinpoint influential attributes and uncover potential biases within the model. Model performance is assessed through accuracy metrics, with the Decision Tree algorithm achieving the highest accuracy at 99% following Bayesian hyperparameter optimization. However, high accuracy does not ensure fairness, as biases related to protected attributes may still persist.

Background: The Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is causing problems in public health. One of the prevention efforts is vaccination. Omicron, the new variant of COVID-19, is a variant that is spreading rapidly in Indonesia, including in Riau Province. Purpose: This study aims to describe the determinants of vaccination status in deaths of Omicron variant COVID-19 patients in Riau Province from February to April 2022. Methods: Cross-sectional research was conducted using secondary data. A total of 158 patients who died with confirmed COVID-19 and the Omicron variant via S-Gene Target Failure (SGTF) and sequencing test, and were treated at a referral hospital in Riau Province within two months (8 February – 4 April 2022) were included in the study. The distribution of patient deaths was analyzed univariately and bivariately. Results: Most of the death cases were unvaccinated (67.09%). As many as 48.73% of the 158 deaths were elderly ≥61 years, and the majority (70.13%) of cases were unvaccinated. It was found that 64.56% of the 158 patient deaths occurred in mainland Riau, and the majority (67.65%) were unvaccinated. Diabetes mellitus (35.86%) and cardiovascular disease (28.97%) were the highest comorbidities. Conclusion: In preventing deaths due to COVID-19, it is necessary to accelerate and increase vaccination coverage, especially for children and the elderly in land and coastal areas. Vaccination can optimize protection against COVID-19. Apart from that, efforts are needed to prevent the severity of comorbidities.

Although the pandemic is slowly winding down and the community is recovering, the dynamics that occurred in the community during the pandemic are important to discuss further. The occurrence of Covid-19 has a major impact on Bali's tourism sector, especially on workers in this field. This research was conducted to understand and capture the perspective of the psychological experiences of workers who run their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic. The informants in this study were three tourism workers who had different positions in their jobs. The method of this study is qualitative with a descriptive phenomenological analysis design because it aims to give meaning to the description of experiences provided by participants. The results of the study show that the experiences that tourism workers have in interpreting the Covid-19 pandemic are a pandemic as a means of self-development, a pandemic increases the value of spirituality and religiosity, and family is the main priority during the pandemic. This research implies that the experience during Covid-19 is interpreted similarly by the participants, even though the participants have different situations [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to analyze the preaching message containing social criticism on the Instagram account @terasdakwah through a semiotic approach. The @terasdakwah account is a digital platform that actively spreads preaching content in a creative style relevant to current social issues. This descriptive qualitative study analyzes the meaning of the preaching message of social criticism (Tafriq) in a Visual Communication Design (VCD) work. The dissection of meaning in visual works uses the semiotic analysis knife of Sumbo Tinarbuko's visual communication and Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. The results of this study show that: First, the connotative meaning revealed is that these visual works are a form of criticism of the government and society in general for the phenomena that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. The connotative level of meaning also found myths contained in the visual works studied, including the death of elderly Hajj pilgrims, the death of expertise, and prolonged frustration threatening mental health. Second, the message of social criticism (Tafriq) preaching contained in the three visual works uploaded by the Instagram account @terasdakwah is included in the first and second points in Alamsyah's theory. The first point is preaching as a correction for the reconstruction of social order, and the second point is preaching as an effort to institutionalize critical attitudes in Islamic society. Third, this study also shows that preaching is not only limited to religious rituals and formalities but can also be done by conveying social criticism. This research is hoped to provide scientific contributions to the study of preaching and communication science so that it can be a reference for further research on similar topics and discussions according to different contexts and objects of study.

The Indonesian government has declared Covid-19 a pandemic, leading to restrictions such as working from home and room capacity limits. These restrictions have resulted in numerous layoffs, and the pandemic has been deemed a national disaster, with laws and regulations like Presidential Decree No. 12 of 2020 strengthening the reasons for entrepreneurs to consider it a force majeure event. The economic sector's decline has direct implications for employees, both in formal and informal sectors, due to decreased production, depletion of industrial raw materials, weakening of the Rupiah against the Dollar, decline in Indonesian tourism, and the fall of the composite stock index. Employers have been forced to lay off their workers. Legal protection for workers includes termination of employment (PHK) and layoff provisions regulated by Articles 150-172 of Law 13/2003. This descriptive analysis aims to provide an overview of legal protection for workers during the pandemic, including the analysis and interpretation of laws and regulations related to the problem under study.

This study aims to examine the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic (measured by the number of laid-off employees) on moderating the relationship between Return on Asset (ROA) and Asset Size with Price Book Value (PBV) as the dependent variable. The study focuses on manufacturing companies within the basic and chemical industry sectors listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2020 period. Out of a population of 83, 55 samples were selected using purposive sampling. This research employs quantitative methods and data sourced from www.idx.co.id. Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) is used as the analytical tool. The research issue arose in 2020 with the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, which had a negative impact on the economy, as evidenced by a decline in PBV across nine manufacturing sectors listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Among these sectors, only the basic and chemical industry sector experienced a strengthening of PBV, with the decline in 2020 being smaller compared to 2019. The research findings indicate that the Covid-19 variable insignificantly weakens the positive relationship between ROA and PBV. Meanwhile, the positive relationship between Asset Size and PBV can be significantly weakened by the Covid-19 variable.
