Background: Structured reporting allows a high grade of standardization and thus a safe and unequivocal report communication. In the past years, the radiological societies have started several initiatives to base radiological reports on structured reporting rather than free text reporting., Methods: Upon invitation of the working group for Cardiovascular Imaging of the German Society of Radiology, in 2018 an interdisciplinary group of Radiologists, Cardiologists, Pediatric Cardiologists and Cardiothoracic surgeons -all experts on the field of cardiovascular MR and CT imaging- met for interdisciplinary consensus meetings at the University Hospital Cologne. The aim of these meetings was to develop and consent templates for structured reporting in cardiac MR and CT of various cardiovascular diseases., Results: Two templates for structured reporting of CMR in ischemia imaging and vitality imaging and two templates for structured reporting of CT imaging for planning Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI; pre-TAVI-CT) and coronary CT were discussed, consented and transferred to a HTML 5/IHR MRRT compatible format. The templates were made available for free use on the website www.befundung.drg.de., Conclusion: This paper suggests consented templates in German language for the structured reporting of cross-sectional CMR imaging of ischemia and vitality as well as reporting of CT imaging pre-TAVI and coronary CT. Objective: In 1966 the Leipzig neuropsychiatrist and psychotherapist Christa Kohler qualified as a university lecturer on social-psychiatric problems in patients aged 40 + suffering from psychoses and neuroses. This paper acknowledges this habilitation thesis in its historical context as an early contribution to East German social psychiatry., Methods: First the thesis itself is searched for points characteristic of Kohler's approach to social psychiatry. Parallel to that, her views are contextualised with other primary sources from or secondary sources about GDR psychiatry at that time. Finally archival sources and oral testimonies of eye witnesses have been considered to substantialise the study., Results: The habilitation thesis is based on data from several hundreds of patients with regard to their demographic, medical and sociological features. Her approach to how older patients suffering from mental illnesses should be treated and rehabilitated is still highly relevant. Yet one must critically assess that many of Kohler's results as well as her psychotherapeutic treatment were ideology-based or oriented on the GDR system., Conclusions: Kohler's approach shows a clear, yet improper amalgamation of medical science and political ideology. "Communicative psychotherapy" was developed in the 1960s by the East German psychotherapist and psychiatrist Christa Kohler (1928-2004) for the treatment of "neuroses". Similar to established present-day psychotherapeutic methods, such as cognitive behaviour therapy, it combined diverse therapeutic approaches into an integrated treatment programme. This included individual and group therapy, exercise, work and occupational therapy. In contrast to modern psychotherapeutic practice, communicative psychotherapy was based on a firm system of values, namely socialist ideals. According to this system, psychological breakdown was viewed and treated ideologically. In addition, any lack of conformity with the East German system was likewise regarded as a psychopathological deviation, which should be subjected to psychological treatment. The latter concept requires a critical analysis from a current-day perspective. For the first time, this paper concentrates on Kohler's work on neuroses and the theory and practice of her communicative psychotherapy, albeit without neglecting Kohler's other scientific works, her biographical information and her Stasi documents., (© Georg Thieme Verlag KG Stuttgart · New York.)

Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death in the Western world. In general, the underlying disease is atherosclerosis, which is hallmarked by deterioration of the endothelial monolayer. Restoration of an intact endothelial monolayer for prevention and therapy of cardiovascular diseases is one key concept of regenerative medicine. This article offers a review of state-of-the-art regenerative mechanisms in cardiovascular disease spotlighting endothelial progenitor cells, and further features the perspectives of regenerative medicine in vascular biology.

Arterial hypertension leads to cardiac restructuring and damage. This "hypertensive heart disease" includes left ventricular hypertrophy. In addition, it is also considered responsible for diastolic and systolic dysfunction, vascular manifestations of microangiopathy and in a broader sense also coronary heart disease as well as cardiac dysrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. The pathophysiological mechanisms depend on a complex neurohumoral regulation and the ensuing change in cardiac structure and output. The initial compensation for increased cardiac demand is followed by permanent heart damage and successive decompensation. At this point the typical complaints involved in cardiac insufficiency or ischemia become evident. Determining the diagnosis is particularly important early on since the prognosis with regard to morbidity and mortality deteriorates if the hypertensive condition persists and the heart develops lasting damage.

In order to monitor the natural ultraviolet (UV) radiation and to assess it from the point of view of radiation hygiene, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) and the Federal Environmental Agency (UBA) have built up a common network for UV monitoring. Since 1993, the ground-level solar UV radiation has been measured at four sites in Germany every 6 minutes, with spectroradiometers in the wavelength range between 290 and 400 nm. Because erythema (sunborn) is of special interest in terms of radiation hygiene, the erythemal weighted irradiance was used as a measure for the biological effect of UV exposure. For this purpose, the measured spectral irradiance was multiplied by the relative erythemal weighting function, and the resulting function integrated from 290 to 400 nm. In the summer months of June and July 1999, the erythemal irradiance exceeded regularly the value of 175 mW/m2 in the south of Germany. In the north, values of not less than 160 mW/m2 were measured during this period. These values correspond to an UV index of more than 7 or 6, respectively--a high exposure regarding to the classification of the German Radiation Protection Commission (SSK), for which (absolute) sun protection is recommend. Between 1995 and 1999, the four sites were characterized by a small increase of the ground-level UV exposure of approx. 10%. Nevertheless, in consideration of the manifold factors affecting the acquired data, the measuring period of 5 years is still insufficient to demonstrate an ozone-dependent effect.

Persisting postoperative thigh pain is a common problem in cementless total hip prostheses occurring in a rate of about 15-20% of the patients. The reason for that phenomenon has not become clear so far. In a clinical, radiological and scintigraphic study 70 patients with 81 PCA cementless total hips were randomized in groups with (n = 34) and without significant thigh pain (n = 36). All patients underwent clinical examination including a standardized questionnaire, x-ray and 3-phase bone scintigraphy. Quantitative assessment of Tc-99m-MDP uptake was made. In the group of patients with persisting thigh pain the scintigraphic analysis showed an significantly increased uptake at the tip and the medial and lateral femur. These findings could not be correlated with clinical loosening of the prosthesis. Slight or moderate uptake in the area of the greater and lesser trochanter as well as the tip was a common finding in PCA prosthesis in all patients. In the radiological analysis no difference between both groups was evident. The study showed that patients with thigh pain after cementless PCA total hip prosthesis have specific regions of significantly increased uptake in scintigraphic examination (tip, medial and lateral femur), which cannot be correllated with clinically or radiologically signs of loosening. The morphologic reasons for the thigh pain remain unclear.

Persisting postoperative pain of the thigh is a common problem of cementless hip endoprostheses occurring in about 15-20% of the patients. We performed a comparative study including patients with (n = 40) and without (n = 45) pain of the thigh. 85 cementless porous-coated anatomic (PCA) hip endoprostheses in 74 patients were examined. All patients underwent clinical examination including a standardized questionnaire, x-ray, and 3-phase bone scintigraphy. Slight or moderate 99mTc-MDP uptake in the area of the greater and lesser trochanter as well as at the tip was a common finding in PCA prostheses in patients without pain and was not a sign of loosening of the hip. Radiologically, there was no difference between patients with and without pain. However, persisting pain of the thigh in patients with PCA prosthesis corresponded with an increased uptake at the tip and the medial and lateral femur, not being a sign of loosening even in this group. The special biomechanical conditions of cementless prostheses causing inhomogeneous intraosseous stress distribution are supposed to be the reason for that.

Transscleral coagulation of the ciliary body was performed by means of the continuous wave Neodymium: YAG laser in 39 eyes with various types of secondary glaucoma that was not controlled by medical therapy. Three days later, the mean intraocular pressure measured 54% of the pre-laser pressure; 3 months later it was 52%, 6 months later 47%, and 12 months later 58%. In 11 of 14 eyes (78.6%) treated in an attempt to preserve the remaining visual function, the pressure proved to be under control (less than or equal to 20 mmHg) 6 months after treatment. Major complications, such as hyphema or bleeding into the vitreous, were rare (7/39) and occurred only in the eyes with neovascular glaucoma.
