This paper reports on the effectiveness of a new teaching method employing dictionaries as an aid for teaching the standardization of English-based sports terms in Serbian. The research was conducted among the students of a sports faculty in 2017 by means of a questionnaire distributed to the students both at the beginning of the second half of an ESP course and again at its end. Its aim was to measure the students' progress related to the acquisition of standardized sports terms in Serbian as an indicator of the effectiveness of the new teaching method. The findings generally indicate a certain degree of improvement of the students' knowledge of standardized sports terminology, though a less than satisfactory amount of progress regarding their linguistic competence. Even though the outcomes did not fully meet the goals set in advance, they do provide solid arguments for further efforts in developing and monitoring dictionary use in teaching the standardization of English-based sports terms in Serbian within the ESP curriculum and, even more importantly, for the systematic education of dictionary usage as part of the mother tongue curriculum.

- Abstract
The vaginal birth of breech presentation is an option for pregnant women supported by current German and international guidelines when favorable conditions and appropriately trained personnel are available. According to midwifery laws in the D-A-CH region, midwives should be able to provide care for a vaginal breech birth in emergencies. Therefore, imparting skills for breech delivery is enshrined in the curriculum for midwifery students. This study evaluated the knowledge and training needs of midwives and midwifery students in the German-speaking region. In May 2022, experiences, specific knowledge, and further training needs regarding vaginal breech birth were assessed through an online survey. Analysis of 467 questionnaires showed that only 30% of respondents currently attend vaginal breech births in their professional environment, but 50% would like to offer this service. 94% of respondents indicated that they would feel more confident if regular training opportunities, particularly simulations and virtual offerings, were provided for vaginal breech birth. However, currently only 10% of respondents receive regular training opportunities for vaginal breech births. The results suggest an increased provision of training opportunities for vaginal breech births to enhance midwives' safety in managing such births., Competing Interests: Die Autorinnen/Autoren geben an, dass kein Interessenkonflikt besteht., (Thieme. - Abstract
Background: Urological residency training is a decisive step on the urological career path. The aim of this review is to develop strategies and approaches to actively shape, improve and further develop urological residency training., Methods: With the help of a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis, the status quo of urological residency training in Germany is analyzed in a structured manner., Results: Strengths of urological residency training incorporate the attractiveness of the specialty itself, and the residency training curriculum in urology ("Weiterbildungscurriculum Urologie", WECU), including the networking of inpatient and outpatient training and accompanying internal and external further training. The German Society of Residents in Urology (GeSRU) also provides a networking platform for residents. Weaknesses include country-specific differences and a lack of checkpoints during residency training. Opportunities for urological continuing education arise from freelance work, digitalization, and technical and medical progress. In contrast, the aftermath of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) pandemic, with still limited staff and surgical capacities, an increased psychosocial workload, and the rising number of outpatient treatments in urology pose threats for urological residency programs., Conclusions: With the help of a SWOT analysis, factors for the further development of urological residency training can be identified. In order to provide high-quality residency training in the future, strengths and opportunities should be consolidated and weaknesses and threats should be addressed at an early stage., (© 2023. - Abstract
Background: The Institute of Quality Assurance and Transparency in Health Care (IQTIG) was commissioned by the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) to include the patient perspective in the quality assurance programme for patients undergoing percutaneous cardiac intervention (PCI) and coronary angiography ("QS PCI"). This article describes both the development methodology and the survey-based quality indicators., Methods: On the basis of a systematic literature research, focus groups with patients, interviews with doctors and an expert group meeting, quality criteria were defined which were relevant to patients. These criteria were translated into PREMs and PROMs. The questionnaires were subjected to a two-phase pretest. Quality indicators were composed by aggregating the items., Results: Altogether, 12 topic areas were identified which are relevant to patients receiving percutaneous cardiac intervention or coronary angiography. Here, communication and interaction were of high importance. In addition, information before, during and after the procedure was very relevant, and, likewise, the health care professionals' interaction with patients. Also, symptoms and treatment effects were important. In accordance with the defined topics, 19 quality indicators were developed which can display quality of health care from the patients' perspective., Conclusion: The development of PREMs and PROMs expanded the quality assurance programme "QS PCI" to include significant dimensions relevant to patients, which can, therefore, provide valuable information to improve patient-centred care., (Copyright © 2023. - Abstract
Objective: To compare the diagnostic accuracy of German depression screening instruments in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD)., Methods: 1019 CHD patients completed the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9 and PHQ-2) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS-D). The Composite International Diagnostic Interview served as reference standard for "any depressive disorder" and "major depression"., Results: The accuracy of the PHQ-9 and the HADS-D was comparable according to the area under the curve, and both were superior to the PHQ-2. The optimal cut-off according to the Youden index (maximum sum of sensitivity and specificity) was 7 for both instruments. At this optimal cut-off, the PHQ-9 had a higher sensitivity compared to the HADS-D, but a lower specificity (below 68). Results remained similar when patients who reported that they currently underwent treatment for depression were excluded., Conclusion: The PHQ-9 and the HADS-D have comparable overall diagnostic accuracy in CHD patients. In line with previous screening studies with CHD patients, the optimal cut-offs were below the cut-offs that are recommended in the literature., Competing Interests: Volker Arolt hat während der letzten drei Jahre Forschungsförderung von der Europäischen Union (EU-FP7), dem Bundesministerium für Forschung und Bildung (BMBF) und dem Indisziplinären Zentrum für Klinische Forschung (IZKF) der Medizinischen Fakultät der WWU Münster erhalten. - Abstract
Mental health of preschool foster care children: How do foster families influence the way children cope with trauma? Abstract. Parents and other significant persons have an important role when preschool children develop or cope with psychological symptoms following traumatic experiences. The underlying mechanisms of the interaction between traumatic experiences and influences of the foster family are still unclear. This study investigates foster parents' stress levels and parenting styles as moderators or mediators in the context of trau- matic experiences. Foster parents of 286 children between three and seven years participated in an online or paper-and-pencil survey. The results suggest a connection between the traumatic experiences of foster children and the stress levels as well as the parenting styles of their foster parents. While verbosity and laxness as parenting styles moderated the impact of traumatic experiences on externalising symptoms, stress levels mediated the impact of traumatic experiences on children's internalising and externalising symptoms. The results underscore the necessity of standardized preparation of and support for foster parents in order to avoid deterioration of psychological symptoms following traumatic events.

- Abstract
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication in critically ill patients and is associated with a worse short- and long-term outcome. The KDIGO (Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes) guidelines suggest to implement preventive strategies in high-risk patients. Definition and classification of acute kidney injury according to the KDIGO criteria are based on an increase in serum creatinine and/or a decrease in urinary output. Renal replacement therapy (RRT) is the only supportive measure in patients with severe AKI. The KDIGO guidelines recommend to initiate RRT immediately if an absolute indication exists. However, in the absence of absolute indication, there are no recommendations when to start RRT in AKI patients with a progressive decline of renal function. Continuous or intermittent techniques of renal replacement therapy may be used equally for treatment of acute kidney injury. In hemodynamically instable patients and patients with increased intracranial pressures continuous renal replacement therapy is recommended. Although weak evidence exists, regional citrate anticoagulation is suggested for patients receiving continuous renal replacement therapy and systemic heparin anticoagulation is suggested for patients receiving intermittent renal replacement therapy. The KDIGO guidelines recommend to deliver an effluent volume of 20 - 25 ml/kg/h for CRRT in AKI., Competing Interests: Prof. Zarbock ist Mitglied des Expertenpanels der AINS. - Abstract
The Need for Psychosocial Support in Parents of Chronically Ill Children Chronic illness in childhood and adolescence is associated with special requirements and demands on affected families. In particular, severe chronic diseases and rare diseases with a high level of health care needs or with progressive medical diagnoses permanently challenge the families' resources. The aim of this study was to assess the need for psychological, nursing, legal and organisational support from a parent's perspective. Using qualitative content analysis according to Mayring, data from 96 parents of 68 chronically ill children were evaluated. The findings suggest an increased need for psychosocial support, but, the ideas, needs, and goals of parents are very versatile. However, family-based psychosocial support programs, which are adapted to the specific family situations, are unanimously judged to be useful. Interventions should be flexible as well as tailored to the affected families' individual needs.

- Abstract
Background Delirium is a common psychiatric disorder after cardiac surgery and predisposes patients to increased mortality and morbidity. Its prevention requires knowledge of the risk factors involved. Objective What are preoperative risk factors for postoperative delirium after cardiac surgery? Methods Prospective longitudinal study of 241 elective cardiac surgical patients with preoperative assessment of potential risk factors and delirium assessment twice daily over five postoperative days. Results 13 % of the patients experienced delirium. Reduced cognitive performance (OR: 3.80; 95 % CI: 1.66 - 8.66), higher comorbidity (OR: 1.36; 95 % CI: 1.07 - 1.7) and higher age (OR: 1.08; 95 % CI: 1.02 - 1.13) increased the risk of delirium. Conclusion Delirium after cardiac surgery is common. It occurs in particular in patients with low cognitive performance, higher comorbidity and higher age., Competing Interests: Disclosure The authors report no conflicts of interest in this work., (© Georg Thieme Verlag KG Stuttgart · New York.)

- Abstract
Objectives: The communication with patients who have undergoned transplantation is greatly influenced by their subjective experience. This paper deals with this subjective transplant-specific experience six months after surgery., Methods: Following their heart, lung, liver, or kidney transplantation, 120 patients were questioned concerning their experiences regarding the transplantation, the organ itself, and changes in their personal life. Their statements were investigated by qualitative content analysis., Results: Generally, the statements concerning the transplantation were positive. Interpersonal contact with the medical staff and or family members was perceived as very helpful. Two-thirds of the patients spoke openly about their organ. For the most part, their statements about changes in their personal life were positive, expressed in the sense of personal growth. Fears and insecurities occurred as negative changes., Conclusions: On the whole, the majority of the patients expressed positive experiences regarding their transplantation. Interpersonal and supportive relationships played a significant role.

- Abstract
Diagnosis of Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) is confirmed by specified laboratory methods on brain material. On the other hand clinical signs of manifest BSE are quite obvious. The first part of this paper describes case histories, clinical signs, laboratory findings and the most common differential diagnoses. On the basis of the data of actual prevalence in Germany, the role of clinical examination in eradication of BSE is dealt in the second part. Clinical diagnosis is a very sensitive and specific method when there is a high prevalence. According to the data from December 2000 to November 2001 prevalence in Germany was beyond 1 BSE case per 100,000 cattle or 3 cases per 100,000 cows. This very low prevalence decreases rapidly sensitivity and specificity of the diagnosis made by clinical examination. Therefore the main focus of field-diagnostics has to be laid on specified laboratory diagnostic methods. On the other hand prevalence of BSE-positive cattle is distinctly higher in the group of animals slaughtered in cases of illness or emergency than in cattle slaughtered on the regulatory bases. Nevertheless every veterinary practitioner should be aware of the clinical picture of BSE, clinical examination-routine and differential diagnosis, because occurrence of BSE is still possible in any dairy herd. At the moment it is not possible to make any statement if eradication of BSE can be reached in future.
