Lexical Priming (LP, o imprimación léxica) es el nombre de la toería lingüística desarrollada por el lingüísta británico Michael Hoey (cf. Hoey 2005 y 2013), en la que ciertos conceptos de la lingüística de corpus como colocación y coligación se han puesto en relación hallazgos experimentales de la psicolingüística en los procesos de asociación de palabras. La teoría trata sobre la imprimación léxica, gramatical y textual y puede ser considerada como particularmente adecuada para la investigación de ciertos fenómenos de la organización textual como , por ejemplo, los límites de párrafo. Utilizando ideas básicas de LP y métodos de la lingüística de corpus, este estudio investiga los límites del párrafo y su relación con el concepto de género discursivo. El objetivo principal es descubrir patrones lingüísticos recurrentes en la posición inicial de párrafo en unos géneros discursivos seleccionados del español escrito y con la ayuda de la herramienta de procesamiento textual Sketch Engine. En esta contribución, se explora un conjunto de segmentos lingüísticos, colocaciones léxicas y coligaciones gramaticales, que aparecen de manera frecuente a principio de párrafo de los textos seleccionados, de carácter más general o específico, y se identifican algunos patrones de cohesión y demás tendencias en los géneros examinados. Las posiciones de principio de párrafo en textos son puntos especiales y sensibles en los que el escritor necesita considerar cuál es el elemento más adecuado dependiendo de una serie de factores, entre los que la elección del género es uno de los más importantes. Este artículo pretende contribuir demostrar que el género es un asunto central en los estudios del uso de la lengua basados en corpus y a descartar una visión de la descripción lingüística donde las lenguas son consideradas como un todo homogéneo (Berber Sardinha 2017: 224)

La hermenéutica filosófica propone varias herramientas conceptuales útiles para la investigación, la crítica y el disfrute de las obras de arte. No obstante, existe una clara escasez de artículos de nivel intermedio que expliquen estos conceptos en el horizonte de su utilidad. Este artículo se enfoca en la noción de juego en la hermenéutica filosófica y realiza dos tareas: en primer lugar, interpreta la estética hermenéutica como respuesta a las necesidades teóricas y a los problemas filosóficos de su época. En segundo lugar, destaca la relevancia del juego (Spiel) como estrategia fenomenológica para explicar la ontología de la obra de arte. Se argumenta que esta reinterpretación de la ontología de la obra de arte constituye una innovación filosófica que permite reconocer aspectos de la obra de arte que quedaban ocultos en otros abordajes estéticos del momento y que todavía son pertinentes de cara a las nuevas comprensiones de la obra de arte en la medida en que permiten reinterpretar el problema de la autonomía estética.

Digression is a discourse function that is identifiable and distinct from other similar functional strategies, and varies cross-linguistically. This paper investigates the way speakers of Spanish and English digress from their main discourse topics and how these transitions are marked. Once digression is defined by the proposal of four features considered to be inherent in this concept, the paper focuses on so-called 'digression formulating phrases', recurrent expressions which make explicit reference to the digression and signal that a new direction with respect to topic is proposed. The paper thus adopts a less common than the usual approach to discourse coherence and digression, whose literature has largely focused on discourse markers. The dataset, extracted from a corpus of parliamentary discourse, is analysed in an attempt to address two research questions. I investigate, first, the frequency and distribution of the selected digression formulating phrases in the two languages, and discern which of the two contexts of digression (i.e. beginnings and ends) is more highly marked, and, second, their use in connection to aspects such as syntactic configuration and position, and co-occurring features of semantic and pragmatic meaning. The contrastive perspective adds precision and richness to the treatment of digression.

The rise in cross-border business in recent decades has led to changes in corporate and working languages and a corresponding surge in research. At the same time, the field of strategic and global talent management has also developed rapidly, but to date has not included language. This paper calls for the integration of language training as a key element of strategic talent management in MNCs. A small-scale interview study with employees from three large Italian companies reveals a broad range of approaches to language and talent management, suggesting there is an urgent need for further cross-case research. The results also show that (a) while English is gaining rapidly in importance, especially at corporate/senior management levels, Italian still plays a central role in some companies; (b) language skills are perceived as bringing added value to employees and companies and can be seen as crucial to the expansion process; and (c) talent management plays an important role in attracting and retaining excellent employees but appears to still be in its infancy in Italy. We therefore argue that strategic talent management urgently needs to be better understood and implemented, and should include proactive language training.

In modern Turkish, the apostrophe is used to separate proper names from inflectional endings (İzmir’de ‘in İzmir’). This is not the case with inflected common nouns (şehirde ‘in the city’). In this respect, the apostrophe constitutes an instance of graphematic dissociation between proper names and common nouns. Interestingly, the apostrophe was originally employed to transliterate hamza and ayn in Arabic and Persian loanwords (san’at ‘art’). However, these loanwords gradually lost the apostrophe (sanat ‘art’). This implies that Turkish experienced a graphematic change whereby the apostrophe developed from a phonographic marker of glottal stop into a morphographic marker of morpheme boundaries in proper names. This refunctionalization process is illustrated by a diachronic corpus analysis based on selected issues of the newspaper Cumhuriyet from 1929–1975. The findings reveal that the use of the apostrophe with proper names was triggered by foreignness. More specifically, the apostrophe first occurred with foreign names to highlight morpheme boundaries (Eden’in ‘of Eden’) and then expanded to native names via animacy (Doğan’ın ‘of Doğan’).

En marzo de 2020 México decretó la emergencia sanitaria por múltiples casos confirmados de Covid-19. Debido a los riesgos implicados, todos los niveles de gobierno, declararon la suspensión de clases presenciales en las escuelas del país, transitando hacia un modelo de educación a distancia. Con esta nueva modalidad de trabajo, las dinámicas tradicionales de evaluación de los aprendizajes se han visto modificadas. A manera de antecedente, en 2017, la Secretaría de Educación Pública implementó la Reforma a la educación básica, la cual implicó diversos cambios al proceso de evaluación; particularmente a los periodos contemplados para la evaluación durante el ciclo escolar, así como adaptaciones dependientes de la reflexión de los profesores sobre los resultados para mejorar su práctica docente y el proceso educativo. A partir de ambos acontecimientos, resultó importante conocer las percepciones de los docentes, para que, de ser necesario, se tomen medidas y realicen las modificaciones pertinentes. Esta investigación, de tipo exploratorio, tuvo como objetivo realizar un acercamiento a definiciones, técnicas, formas y criterios para evaluar el aprendizaje en la asignatura de inglés de escuelas secundarias públicas, desde la perspectiva de los profesores, además de conocer el tránsito del proceso evaluativo de los alumnos en el modelo educativo a distancia. Fueron entrevistados ocho maestros de inglés de secundaria en una ciudad del noroeste de México. El análisis indicó que los participantes coinciden en sus definiciones y criterios de evaluación y que, durante la contingencia han enfrentado diversos cambios en sus percepciones sobre el proceso de evaluación del aprendizaje.

During the last seasons (May-July 2019), the archaeological excavations of the Castellitto villa in the territory of Ramacca, in Catania province, which were carried out by Soprintendenza Archeologica di Catania, under the direction of doctor Maria Teresa Magro, brought a new source of knowledge which reviews and highlights new aspects from the published data. This paper focuses on new information that allow us to reconstruct the history and the structure of the rural villa with attention to the study of mosaics. The study of mosaic flooring has covered both the unpublished mosaics recently discovered and the revision of published data during the 80’s. According to the current state of research, polychrome geometric mosaics have come to light, which consist of large shaped patterns and can be dated between 4th – 5th century AD. Finally, future scheduled excavations will be able to clarify the function and chronology of this late roman residential complex.

Translators, linguists and translation researchers often have to deal with subtle and sometimes complex syntactical aspects involved in translation. Properly conveying the structure and rhythm of a sentence or text in another language is a difficult task that requires a good understanding of syntactical aspects of both the source and the target language. The morphology of Lithuanian verbs and nouns, and specially its system of declensions and cases, without any doubt facilitates a relatively flexible word order. Many linguists also agree that word order in the Spanish sentence is also freer than in French, English or other modern languages. It has often been said that Spanish has the most flexible word order of all Romance languages. However, Spanish word order is by no means as free as in Lithuanian. A comparative study of Lithuanian texts and their translation into Spanish allows a better understanding of the syntactical differences between both languages. This article examines a case of syntactical inversion in Lithuanian: the displacement of the direct object and its location at the beginning of the sentence, and the translation of such sentences into Spanish. In Spanish the direct object usually follows the verb, except in the cases when that function is carried out by pronouns. In order to displace a direct object to the beginning of the sentence, Spanish syntactical structures should be used. In this article two stylistically different Lithuanian texts will be compared with their Spanish translation so as to identify the linguistic means used in each case. A comparative analysis of different types of texts is useful to reveal the Spanish syntactical structures chosen by the translators as well as certain tendencies in each specific context.

Media accessibility is becoming mainstream. While it cannot compete for popularity with the two original fields –architecture and design accessibility– it is slowly gaining acknowledgment. Subtitling was and still is the most popular media access service. In recent years, more services have been joining the alternative possibilities to access information. New technologies have also increased the number of services, and Easy to Read is proposed in this article as a new candidate to join the list of services. This article will start by describing Easy to Read, and understand its approach as: a translation modality, a linguistic variation or as a service. The second part of the article presents many accessibility services and Easy to Read features. In the third part, new hybrid services are proposed. These are the result of adding to existing access services a layer of Easy to Read creating a higher degree of accessibility. Any accessibility service aiming to facilitate comprehension will improve and optimize its function by leaning on Easy to Read. The article finishes offering many examples to secure a rapid uptake of the service across the different accessibility fields, from design to web accessibility or transport.

En el Áyax de Sófocles puede notarse la tematización de un conflicto recurrente, la crisis entre dos sistemas axiológicos, el arcaico, en el que predominan valores agonales, basados en la excelencia personal reconocida comunitariamente, y el ilustrado, aquel que responde a exigencias de las ciudades (poleis) ya desarrolladas, cuyos valores se identifican con la idea de igualdad y de deliberación comunitaria. Dicho conflicto es desarrollado a partir de un tópico propio del ideario práctico de la época, la problemática de la medida y la desmesura (metron/hybris). El presente trabajo procurará dar cuenta del peculiar tratamiento sofocleo al respecto mediante el análisis del léxico en distintos pasajes de la obra. Como se verá, las palabras escogidas por personajes antagónicos como Áyax, Menelao y Agamenón para fundamentar sus decisiones definirán, sin embargo, concepciones comunes acerca del modo actuar en situaciones de conflicto, propias del código heroico arcaico; por el contrario, otros personajes, como Tecmesa, el coro de marineros, Odiseo mismo y Atenea, asumirán perspectivas diferentes al respecto, vinculadas con exigencias ilustradas.

This paper examines the strategies for profiling the phonological word in Alemannic, applying the typology of syllable and word languages. The diagnostic criteria selected for assessing the relevance of the phonological word include syllable structure, phonotactic restrictions, and word-profiling processes. Following on from previous synchronic and diachronic analyses (Nübling/Schrambke 2004; Szczepaniak 2007), I will provide a detailed account of the phonological word in Old Alemannic and in modern Alemannic dialects, which include Upper-Rhine Alemannic, Swabian, and South Alemannic. It will be shown that the relevance of the phonological word gradually increased in Alemannic, as can be gleaned from processes such as unstressed vowel reduction, unstressed vowel deletion, and consonant epenthesis. While vowel reduction created strong asymmetries between stressed and unstressed syllables, unstressed vowel deletion and consonant epenthesis increased syllable complexity at word and morpheme boundaries. In addition, Swabian was found to contain more word-related features than Upper-Rhine Alemannic and South Alemannic. Thus, the typology of syllable and word languages contributes to a better understanding of language variation and change in Alemannic.

El estudio tiene como finalidad correlacionar los estilos de vida y factores so cioeconómicos con la salud de los estudiantes de las electivas de actividad física y deporte de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, sede Bogotá-Colombia. Es un estudio cuantitativo descriptivo, de corte transversal, con una muestra de 1410 estudiantes con edad entre 24 y 29 años que corresponde a 748 mujeres y 662 hom bres. Fue aplicado un cuestionario estandarizado propuesto por Nahas (2013), que presenta los factores nutricionales, el estrés, la actividad física, el comportamiento preventivo y las relaciones sociales como componentes que afectan la salud de las personas y están asociados al desarrollo de las enfermedades crónicas no transmi sibles. La menor calificación se encontró en los factores nutricionales, de actividad física y de conducta preventiva. Por otro lado, se encontró una mejor calificación en las relaciones sociales y el control del estrés. Los resultados socioeconómicos demuestran que los estudiantes tienen preferencia por deportes individuales; viven con los padres y familiares, ubicados en estrato de clase media, y se presenta un alto índice de padres con formación universitaria. Se concluye que existe una tendencia de estilos de vida no saludables que puede afectar negativamente la salud de esta población. Es importante desarrollar estrategias de intervención en el contexto social, para generar un cambio de conducta y adoptar un estilo de vida saludable para mejorar la calidad de vida.

The paper addresses two issues that have been recently debated in the literature on free will, moral responsibility, and the theory of punishment. The first issue concerns the descriptive project, the second both the substantive and the prescriptive project. On theoretical, historical and empirical grounds, we claim that there is no rationale for fearing that the spread of neurocognitive findings will undermine the ordinary practice of responsibility attributions. We hypothetically advocate two opposite views: (i) that such findings would cause the collapse of all punitive practices; (ii) that, on the contrary, such findings would open the way to more humane forms of punishment, which would be justified on purely utilitarian grounds. We argue that these views are both wrong, since whereas a sound punitive system can be justified without any reference to moral responsibility, it will certainly not improve the humaneness of punishment.

Neuroethics: The Birth of a New Kind of Anthropology? - This paper proposes a view according to which the specific field of neuroethics is conceived as an exploration of what we learn about ourselves and our “functioning” thanks mainly (but not exclusively) to neuroscience. In other words, neuroethics proposes a new kind of anthropology dealing with the intersection of various disciplines (cognitive neuroscience, philosophy, psychology, law...) which becomes ever more pertinent in current debates due to the strong naturalization of research concerning the human beings. The subject of study – in light of its new and controversial features – would thus not be what we can do, but what we know or reliably think we know.

Este artículo hace referencia al tema de la complejidad ambiental, que centra su crítica en el proyecto moderno cientificista en el que predomina la certeza y la certidumbre, al introducir la indeterminación, la incertidumbre y otro tipo de lógicas en el campo del conocimiento y al incluir posturas epistemológicas más abarcantes en el plano social y humanístico. De la misma manera, se hace referencia al aporte de algunas tradiciones del Lejano Oriente, con las cuales comparten las ciencias de la complejidad la consideración de la interrelación de la estructura del universo, la naturaleza y los seres vivos. En esta interrelación, el ser humano es concebido como un componente complejo bio-psico-social-trascendental, por lo que puede destacarse su dimensión singular, irrepetible, abierta y trascendente.

With the exception of a small group of adjectives concerning physical or moral characteristics whose meaning changes according to their pre- or postnominal use, the position of an attributive adjective does not alter its meaning. However, prenominal adjectives in a Spanish indefinite trigger its specific interpretation, thus preventing its variable reading; the same phenomenon obtains also in Catalan. The aim of this paper is to discuss specific cases in some Sicilian dialects – mainly in the dialect of Delia (province of Caltanissetta) – in order to provide further evidence of the fact that prenominal evaluative adjectives force the specific interpretation of indefinites in Romance. Since Sicilian dialects do not typically display prenominal adjectives, this paper will therefore draw on elatives to check whether Sicilian shows a parallel restriction in the postnominal position.

El presente artículo es resultado de una investigación realizada en el marco del Grupo de Investigación de Educación Comparada de Sevilla, con el objetivo de estudiar el papel otorgado a la mujer a través de las ilustraciones, en los textos esco- lares correspondientes a las áreas de conocimiento del medio natural, social y cultural; lengua castellana y literatura, así como matemáticas del ciclo de educación primaria. Con el análisis del rol de la mujer y el hombre en los manuales, podemos cono- cer no sólo las ideas, los valores o las actitudes latentes en una sociedad, sino además la forma en la que los conocimientos son transmitidos en las aulas tanto a niños como a niñas. Los textos escolares se muestran así como mecanismos invisibles a través de los cuales aparecen y se refuerzan desigualdades. Conscientes de esta realidad, en estos momentos las ilustraciones recogidas en los textos escolares deben ser lo suficiente- mente representativas de los cambios sociales que se producen en los distintos con- textos y capaces de plasmar modelos reales y no estereotipados. Esta reflexión debe ser un reflejo en la práctica educativa de cada uno de los niveles educativos y de cada uno de los cursos; y así lo hemos querido comprobar analizando algunas de las herramien- tas educativas utilizadas en el nivel de primaria. The publication focuses on the visit of the Spanish Jesuit Alfonso Salmerón (1515–1585) in Vilnius in the late 1555. The visit of the first Jesuit in Vilnius lasted one month from October the 28th to the end of November. It was the first visit of the member of the Society of Jesus in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania during which the possibilities to open the first Jesuit College in the region were tested. Salmerón came to Vilnius as the attendant of the Papal nuncio Aloi­sio Lippomano (1496–1559) who in the same year was delegated to the official nunciature to Poland and Lihuania. The details of Salmerón’s visit were discussed in the three surviving letters of Salmerón to his close friend Ingantius of Loyola (1491–1556), the founder and the Superior General of the Society of Jesus. Two of them were written before the arrival in Vilnius from Augsburg (September 1) and Wars­zaw (October 10), the third one was sent from Wien (on January the 1st, 1556) after the visit to the Capital of the Grand Duchy. Though in the first two letters the possibility of establishing the Jesuit College in Vilnius was expressed quite positively, the situation was changed after the visit to Vilnius and the conver­sation with the King of Poland and the Grand Duke of Lithuania SigismundusAugustus. In the third let­ter to Lojola, Salmerón rejected the possibility of opening the College because of the situation in the state where he noted very strong inclination of the local nobility to protestantism (“heresy”).The three Spanish letters of Salmerón to Loyola provide many other interesting details about the reli­gious context of Poland and Lithuania in the middle of the 16th century and the Jesuit Counter-Reforma­tion politics in the region.

Most Sicilian dialects display a monoclausal construction with a functional verb (usually of motion), followed by the linking element a and a lexical verb called Inflected Construction by Cardinaletti, Giusti (2001, 2003). This construction shows a high degree of cross-linguistic variation. The aim of the paper is to propose the protocols in the sense of Giusti, Zegrean (2015) to conduct fieldwork in this area. Protocol Linguistics is a metamodel of linguistic research that can be shared by linguists of different theoretical persuasion, can be accessible to non-linguists, and is meant to interface with a number of disciplines and environments such as social sciences and political planning, neuro-psychology and language rehabilitation, pedagogy and language education. The protocols consist of simple table-charts with the horizontal axis listing the empirical environments to be searched, e.g. the languages to be compared, and the vertical axis listing (clusters of) properties, named features, to be valued as +/- according to whether they are present or absent in each environment. The features relevant to the investigation on the Inflected Construction rely on preliminary work by Di Caro (2015), which highlights a finer grained variation than the one presented in previous literature (a.o. Cardinaletti, Giusti 2001, 2003, and Cruschina 2013). In the spirit of the principles-and-parameters approach, the protocols for the Inflected Construction are clustered around two main dimensions, each involving clusters of properties: (i) the lexical restrictions on the functional and/or the lexical verb; (ii) the person, tense and mood restrictions of the verbal paradigm.

En el presente estudio se analiza una de las entidades municipales más antiguas de España: El Pósito común de Osuna. Estas entidades se crearon originariamente con la finalidad de repartir pan a los caminantes, así como evitar épocas de carestía. Posteriormente se convirtieron en entidades de crédito agrícola y que permitían a las autoridades controlar el precio del trigo. Nuestra investigación se centra en el análisis de la gestión y administración de los Pósitos. Para ello hemos analizado la normativa aplicable a esta institución, concretamente la Instrucción del 30 de Mayo de 1753. A continuación realizamos un análisis de toda la documentación disponible en el Archivo Municipal de Osuna, para determinar el grado de cumplimiento e implantación de la Instrucción de 1753 tomando como período de estudio los años que van desde 1753 hasta 1763.

Šiame straipsnyje tiriamas pusdalyvinių konstrukcijų vertimas į ispanų kalbą „Metų“ dalyje „Vasaros darbai“. Nagrinėjama viena iš galimų priemonių pusdalyviams versti – ispanų kalbos gerundijus. Iš dalies gerundijaus funkcijos sutampa su lietuvių kalbos pusdalyvio, bet gerundijaus reikš- mės yra platesnės, todėl negalima šia veiksmažodžio neasmenuojama forma piktnaudžiauti, juolab kad ispanų kalbininkai siūlo vengti gerundijaus formų gausos. Bandoma nustatyti, kokiomis kitomis priemonėmis pusdalyviai verčiami į ispanų kalbą, ar jų reikšmės išlaikytos vertimo tekste, kaip Donelaičio „Metams“ būdingas dinamiškumas perteiktas ispanų kalbos skaitytojui.

The article focuses on the differentials in object marking in the Spanish language, where definite nominal phrases are differentially marked when they refer to human referents. Topics include Different grammatical elements play a role in phenomenon, including animacy, specificity, afficiency, agentivity, telicity, and topicality; and differential object marking (DOM) is a challenging aspect for German learners of Spanish and often leads to ungrammatical uses of DOM, such as hypercorrection.

Poetinio teksto prasmės perteikimas vertimo kalba yra labai sunkus vertėjų uždavinys. Vertimo tekstų gretinamoji analizė leidžia pastebėti, kokiais būdais ir kokiomis priemonėmis galima perteikti originalo stilių. Šiame straipsnyje lyginami du ispanų poeto Juano Ramóno Jiménezo lyrinės prozos kūrinio „Platero y yo“ vertimai į lietuvių kalbą. Ispanistė ir vertėja Birutė Ciplijauskaitė 1982 m. išvertė apsakymų rinktinę, kurią pavadino „Sidabrinukas ir aš“ (toliau – „pirmasis vertimas“), o visus rinkinio apsakymėlius 1994 m. į lietuvių kalbą išvertė Dalia Lenkauskienė, kuri knygą pavadino „Plateras ir aš“ (toliau – „antrasis vertimas“). Lyginti pasirinkta dvidešimt abiejų vertėjų išverstų kū- rinio apsakymėlių. Aptariami trys vertimo tekstų aspektai: spalvas reiškiančių vardažodžių vertimas, deminutyvinių vedinių vartosena ir gramatinės transpozicijos. Deminutyvų vartosena pirmajame vertimo variante padeda geriau atkurti emocingumo, meilumo atspalvius. Atlikta analizė leidžia daryti išvadą, jog abi vertėjos skirtingai taiko gramatines transpozicijas. Antrajame vertime labiau siekiama natūralumo, atidžiau žiūrima į lietuvių kalbos bruožus, dažniau taikomos gramatinės transpozicijos, ypač daiktavardžių keitimas veiksmažodinėmis formomis. Pirmajame vertime tekstas lieka arčiau originalo, labiau atspindi ispanų autoriaus kalbos vingius ir siekia lietuvių skaitytoją įtraukti į svetimą pasaulį.
