Even in the current situation, students of library science must gain professional experience in libraries under often difficult conditions. Libraries, in turn, should not lose the important input and new ideas that interns can provide because of the increased security measures. Many students choose to complete a part of their compulsory internship in the department of Repository Management PHAIDRA-Services of the University of Vienna every year. To continue this tradition during the crisis, a new concept for online internships was developed in the summer of 2020. The first group of four students from the Humboldt University of Berlin completed a four-week remote internship in October-November 2020. The paper discusses the concept for the virtual internship, as well as the feedback from both colleagues and interns. Lessons learned are presented in order to help other libraries that are considering the shift to virtual internships. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A lot of what we read today in the media about coronavirus waves, school closings, and soon available vaccines reminds of the influenza pandemic 1918-1920. An essential difference is the electronic infrastructure that allows us to supply users with online library services. This paper illustrates how the library of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland managed to compensate the sudden decrease of physical borrowing with already available digital tools (Alma-Summon, Microsoft Teams), and new ones like LibAnswers. Finally, it will be shown how by simple means (Microsoft Office) a library seats availability dashboard was realized and shared with other libraries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MEDICAL education , *MEDICAL schools , *MEDICAL research , *MEDICAL publishing ,STUDY & teaching of medicine - Abstract
Objectives: Medical education is gaining in significance internationally. A growing interest in the field has been observed in German-speaking countries (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) since the early 2000s. This interest is not, however, reflected in an increase in the number of publications on medical education of German-speaking authors in international professional journals. The following investigation examines the potential use of active participant numbers of German-speaking researchers at AMEE conferences as a means of measuring said development. Methods: The AMEE conference proceedings fromthe categories poster presentations, short communications, research papers and plenary presentations from the years 2005-2013 were examined for evidence of Austrian, German and Swiss participation. The abstracts were subsequently analysed in terms of content and categorised according to study design, methodology, object of study, and research topic. Results: Of the 9,446 analysed abstracts, 549 contributions show at least one first, last or co-author from Austria, Germany or Switzerland. The absolute number of contributions per conference varied between 44 in 2010 and 77 in 2013. The percentage fluctuated between 10% in 2005 and 4.1% in 2010. From the year 2010 onwards, however, participation increased continually. The research was predominantly descriptive (62.7%). Studies on fundamental questions of teaching and learning (clarification studies) were less frequent (4.0%). For the most part, quantitative methods (51.9%) were implemented in addressing subjects such as learning and teaching methods (33%), evaluation and assessment (22.4%) or curriculum development (14.4%). The study population was usually comprised of students (52.5%). Conclusions: The number of contributions from Austria, Germany and Switzerland peak at the beginning and at the end of the evaluated period of time. A continual increase in active participation since 2005 was not observed. These observations do not reflect the actual increase of interest in medical education research in German-speaking countries. - Abstract
The main aim of this paper is, to obtain the analytical solution of the Riemann problem for a quasi-linear system of equations, which describe the one-dimensional unsteady flow of an ideal polytropic dusty gas in magnetogasdynamics without any restriction on the initial data. By using the Rankine-Hugoniot (R-H) and Lax conditions, the explicit expressions of elementary wave solutions (i. e., shock waves, simple waves and contact discontinuities) are derived. In the flow field, the velocity and density distributions for the compressive and rarefaction waves are discussed and shown graphically. It is also shown how the presence of small solid particles and magnetic field affect the velocity and density across the elementary waves. It is an interesting fact about this study that the results obtained for the Riemann problem are in closed form. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

209. Modeling the Impact of Hamiltonian Perturbations on Expectation Value Dynamics.

- Abstract
Evidently, some relaxation dynamics, e.g. exponential decays, are much more common in nature than others. Recently there have been attempts to explain this observation on the basis of "typicality of perturbations" with respect to their impact on expectation value dynamics. These theories suggest that a majority of the very numerous, possible Hamiltonian perturbations entail more or less the same type of alteration of the decay dynamics. Thus, in this paper, we study how the approach towards equilibrium in closed quantum systems is altered due to weak perturbations. To this end, we perform numerical experiments on a particular, exemplary spin system. We compare our numerical data to predictions from three particular theories. We find satisfying agreement in the weak perturbation regime for one of these approaches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

210. Selected applications of typicality to real-time dynamics of quantum many-body systems.

- Abstract
Loosely speaking, the concept of quantum typicality refers to the fact that a single pure state can imitate the full statistical ensemble. This fact has given rise to a rather simple but remarkably useful numerical approach to simulate the dynamics of quantum many-body systems, called dynamical quantum typicality (DQT). In this paper, we give a brief overview of selected applications of DQT, where particular emphasis is given to questions on transport and thermalization in low-dimensional lattice systems like chains or ladders of interacting spins or fermions. For these systems, we discuss that DQT provides an efficient means to obtain time-dependent equilibrium correlation functions for comparatively large Hilbert-space dimensions and long time scales, allowing the quantitative extraction of transport coefficients within the framework of, e. g., linear response theory (LRT). Furthermore, it is discussed that DQT can also be used to study the far-from-equilibrium dynamics resulting from sudden quench scenarios, where the initial state is a thermal Gibbs state of the pre-quench Hamiltonian. Eventually, we summarize a few combinations of DQT with other approaches such as numerical linked cluster expansions or projection operator techniques. In this way, we demonstrate the versatility of DQT. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
In this paper, we have studied spinless fermions in four specific quasi one-dimensional systems that are known to host flat bands in the noninteracting limit: the triangle lattice, the stub lattice, the diamond lattice, and the diamond lattice with transverse hopping. The influence of the nearest neighbour interaction on the flat bands was investigated. We used exact diagonalization of finite size lattices employing the Lanczos technique and determine the single particle spectral functions of the interacting system. Our results are compared with mean field calculations. In the cases of the triangle lattice and the stub lattice we found that the flat bands become dispersive in the presence of a finite interaction. For the diamond lattice and the diamond lattice with transverse hopping, we demonstrated that the flat bands are robust under the influence of the interaction in certain parameter ranges. Such systems could be realised experimentally with cold atoms in optical lattices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Kurzfassung: Public libraries are an important public service of general interest and, as part of social infrastructures, contribute to educational justice. This article discusses their development against the background of the interaction of digitization and austerity. As voluntary services they are particularly affected by the current austerity policy and have to increasingly justify their services and structures. At the same time, they are being rediscovered in the course of local authorities' urban development strategies. Based on empirical results from Bonn, the paper discusses central municipal strategies for the further development of the local library system and sheds light on the associated ambivalent socio-spatial implications. STORYTELLING , *BISHOPS , *ORDINATION , *DISILLUSIONMENT , *MARTYRDOM , *CATHOLIC clergy , *CATHOLIC priests , *PRIESTS - Abstract
The present article provides a detailed description of the personal archive of one of the secretly ordained priests of the Underground Church (or Clandestine Church as they prefer to say), namely Vendelín Laca (1932-2015) from the Slovak town of Šurany (close to Nitra). The complex issue of how the secret priests were integrated into the official structures after the fall of the Communist regime is tackled here from a special point of view: the focus is on one concrete group of married priests whose letters, articles, and memories are stored in the archive. In the first and second sections, the paper reports growing difficulties which arose as the official bishops in Slovakia refused to recognize the priestly status of those individuals, whose ordination originated from Bishop Felix Davídek. The church authorities forced these priests to undergo an ordination 'sub conditione', but nobody was able to bring up any evidence as to why Davídek's ordinations should be questioned. Moreover, this option was only open to celibate men. The third and fourth sections describe the protracted conflict which led to the disenchantment and frustration of those married priests who were only admitted to a limited form of service in the Greek-catholic Exarchate (in Czechia) or, worse, completely excluded and charged of schism in Slovakia. The sixth and last section as a moving coda tells of the well-meant efforts of four outstanding priests who tried to engage in pastoral activities on their own. Before that, the fifth section brings witness to mutual misunderstandings and animosities within the Underground Church itself. Thus, the quotations and paraphrases of archival texts through their telling of personal stories shed light on the history of the remarkable phenomenon of the Underground Church with its glory and martyrdom without denying its shades. Based on the correspondence between the translator Alexander Eliasberg (1878-1924) and the German publishing house Insel-Verlag this paper explores the social, material and mental dimensions of their relationship from the point of view of cultural semiotics. Understanding the culture of translation as a semiosphere (according to Jury Lotman's definition) furthers the insight into the dynamics and the (historical, sociocultural) conditions of the process of Russian-German cultural mediation. It also allows us to draw conclusions on Eliasberg's concept of translation and the role of translation as a medium. One of Eliasberg's translations from Tolstoy for the book series Insel-Bücherei, published in 1913, serves as an example. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Defining desire generally remains quite a cumbersome task due to the multiplicity and versatility of its conceptual nuances. Although queer theory has debunked many of the fundamental assumptions underlying continuities between categories such as sex, gender, sexual practice and desire as discursive-linguistic constructs, material dimensions concerning desire have yet to be adequately investigated. This paper portrays an autoethnographic journey through landscapes of desire and links personal experience to several approaches that the authors came across in the course of their research. Incorporating creative strategies of knowledge production into a queer-feminist reading of new materialisms can widen perceptions of desire and offer valuable insights into how and where desire might occur. In his book Primitive Culture Edward Burnett Tylor (1832-1917) defined the term animism as the supposedly »primitive« form of religion in an evolutionistic model of religious development. Rejected in this sense for a long time in Social Science the term animism underwent a revitalisation in the 1990s in Social Anthropology, whereas in Religious Science the term is currently used more reserved, mostly with regard to materiality. In this paper I will analyse the differences between the new anthropological and the Tylorian understanding of animism. For this purpose, I will compare Tylor's concept of animism with four contemporary anthropological definitions of animism. Finally, I will argue that the anthropological concept of animism as an ontology differs fundamentally from Tylor's theory. As such, the new animism can be used as a fruitful concept in Religious Science, too. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOCIAL reality , *RELIGIOUS studies , *THEOLOGIANS , *CONCORD , *RELIGIONS - Abstract
Quasi-Religion and the German Ersatzreligion are frequently used terms in everyday language and media as well as in academic literature. Still, they are hardly reflected or clearly defined categories. Therefore, this paper aims to critically investigate the category »Ersatz-/Quasi- Religion« based on its historization. Using ideas from Ernesto Laclau's and Chantal Mouffe's discourse theory and Michel Foucault's genealogy, many publications on »Ersatz-/Quasi- Religion« were examined in order to uncover hidden presumptions and interests. The historicalcritical reconstruction of the discourse shows how unity and identity of the category »Ersatz-/ Quasi-Religion« were and are materialized into social reality only through naming and repetition, in which effects of power always play an important role. In addition, it is shown that first members of the churches and theologians have created the category in a situation of competition and fear. Then, other disciplines, especially the sociology of religion, adopted this hegemonic closure in order to secure their own position and concepts. Finally, the article pleads for research within the subject of Religious Studies on the category »Ersatz-/Quasi-Religion« based on a conceptualization as it is proposed by the author in order to gain knowledge on the constitution of »religion«. Kurzfassung: In Germany, strategies of "social mixing" aiming at the development of "disadvantaged" neighborhoods have been widely established in urban politics. Such strategies are oriented towards attracting middle class residents and therefore are discussed as drivers of displacement and exclusion of "the disadvantaged". In our paper, we analyze such urban transformation processes focusing on the productivity of racial classifications. We present results of a research project in which we examine the appropriation of urban resources (such as housing, neighborhood infrastructures, and public spaces) by residents in such quarters. Using an interactivist approach "from below" and qualitative research methods, our case study on the former "declining", currently "stagnating" quarter Essen-Altendorf shows the productivity of racial classifications in the residents' negotiations on "rules" in the closer neighborhood or on the use of public spaces. Yet, racializing articulations correspond with the policies of social mixing as well as with the observed selective policing of a "dangerous quarter". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The recent history of Russian medical libraries is presented here with special reference to the most important Moscow libraries. The problems and successes of the Central Medical Library in Moscow and the Russian State Library will be described in more detail. In Russia access to international specialist literature has long been more or less restricted, which has disadvantages for practice and research. The lack of literature was partially compensated for by Russian-language editions, some of which were compilations from foreign sources that contained translations of different quality and were sparsely illustrated. Today, thanks to internet resources, these obstacles are gradually being overcome. However, free internet sources cannot fully address the persistent shortage of paper issues of handbooks and journals. According to the author, the Russian librarianship should develop with more international cooperation, following the pattern of Western European neighbors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the "Orientations towards the first Strategic Plan for Horizin Europe1", the strategy paper of the EU-Commission on the 9th EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, the following sentence can be found on the importance of Open Science: "Open science practices will be mainstreamed as the new modus operandi for EU research and innovation." Open Science will be the specification of how research should be carried out in the future with the help of digital tools and networks. Although the EU-Commission is a pioneer in this area, local funding bodies are already following suit. For research institutions, this means that the institutional research infrastructure must be further developed to meet these requirements. In the project "e-Infrastructures Austria Plus", seven work packages have begun to build up the know-how and technical infrastructures required for this. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The construction of overhead power lines in the Extra High Voltage category is a costly business. When erecting towers that support the conductors, mobile cranes have become the dominant piece of equipment to erect these towers. Although relatively quick, these mobile cranes do come at a cost and alternative erection methods will be very attractive for contractors responsible for construction. This paper investigates alternative options to erect overhead power line towers with specific emphasis on the use of gin poles and winches for the erection of the type 520B guyed V-tower thereby eliminating mobile cranes. The work presented here also proposes the use of novel methods like air cushions and a degree of automation to lift these guyed V-towers autonomously. The paper examines the means of expressing indirect (inferentive and reportative) evidentiality in Latin narrative prose of I-II A. D. on the material Petron's Satyricon and Apuleius' Meta-morphoses. Morphological forms and syntactic constructions treated as evidential strategies are taken into account, since their main meanings are within the pattern of the grammatical categories (tense, mood etc.), and the information about the source and/or means of access to information is contextually motivated side effect. The result of the research reveals singling out eight strategies to express indirect evidentiality. - Abstract
In this paper I challenge the claim by Hofmann (1956) that the k-suffix in North Frisian abstract deadjectival nouns like f.-a. waremk 'warmth' is adopted from Danish. Danish loanwords like f.-a. eemk 'grief' are rather derived from deadjectival verbs containing a k-suffix than from adjectives originally. In other examples - waremk being a case in point - the k-suffix has developed from the suffix -d(e)/-t(e) that entered North Frisian from Low German. On the basis of such forms a semi-productive k-suffix, possibly a suffix variant of -d(e)/-t(e), arose in North Frisian, particularly in combination with adjectival base words ending in -r. - Abstract
The attitudes toward gender politics in the field of men’s initiatives and men’s groups in Austria have different and sometimes conflicting focal points. There are approaches that represent a gender democratic mission, which are mostly found in institutionalized men’s initiatives, but there is also the men’s and father’s rights movement, focussing on men primarily as ›victims of feminism‹. Finally some men’s initiation groups are active as well, working with an mythopetic and individualized framework. There has been a lack of scientific research and knowledge in Austria especially concerning the men’s and father’s rights movement. In 2014 an expert paper was published, which concentrated on gender equality positionings of men’s initiatives and men’s groups in Austria. In reference to the model of Messner (2000) it took a critical view on the practice in these fields, analysed different anti feminist arguments and made fact checks about topics, which were raised by anti feminists. In reference to the expert paper this article follows the question in which ways profeminist approaches of men’s initiatives differ from those who represent an anti feminist approach. It also discusses important conditions for equality-oriented dialogues and alliances in the field of gender work, which focuses on the increase of gender equality, stands against constricting positions and allows a gender balanced work with men. Models of good practice are outlined, that represent such gender democratic approaches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The genealogies of peoples and families developed in Europe during the modern period are prevalently studied by scholars from the perspective of the political history of ideas, with the aim of explaining the practical utility of genealogical works. These analyses do not foreground the aspect that is the focus of this paper: the fact that genealogical reconstructions are full of absurdities. They mix factual information, or information that may seem credible, with fabulous details, often false, sometimes ridiculous, in a word "incredible". This is all the more interesting since these texts were composed during the centuries in which scientific methods applied to historical research were developed. Using tools borrowed from cultural anthropology, this paper suggests an epistemological approach that takes into consideration the meaning and credibility of the genealogical materials in the still authoritative framework of the Historia Salutis, the unitary vision of human history as a fusion of the classical legacy and Biblical tradition. - Abstract
This paper undertakes a creative exploration of bulky rubbish [sperrmüll] in the City of Bonn by expanding on and utilising what has come to be known as non-representational thinking. Through a nonrepresentational engagement with sperrmüll, I shed light on waste as a significant human-nonhuman ecology as it appears in an especially routinised manifestation in urban space. In doing so, the paper contributes to a discussion about enacting non-representational methodologies within German-speaking human geography. Here, there are three methodological interventions for a non-representational endeavour: (1) interfering, (2) material thinking, and (3) writing and presentation. These interventions are supported by revisiting Deleuze and Guattari’s notion of assemblage; using it as a way to attend to sperrmüll as an area-sized fabrication connecting humans and various other materialities, and which directs thought towards a wide array of agencies. In conclusion, nonrepresentational perspectives are advanced as a way to expose the affective ecologies that enable certain actions and hamper others. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The objective of this study was to analyze changes in price and amounts of wood pulp, wood panels, sawn wood and paper exported by Brazil. Additionally, it was also aimed to analyze the relationship between supply and demand in the period of 1995-2013. Data from FAO of price variation and exported amounts over the years were organized graphically, and their annual average change rates were calculated through trend models. Influenced by the competitive advantage in the production of raw materials and investments in the sector, the export annual rates of wood pulp and paper were 10.13% and 2.60%, respectively. Related to the dynamics of USA economy, export rates of wood panels and sawn wood were 5.94% and -0.0087%, respectively. The change rates for prices were -3.73% for wood pulp, -2.35% for sawn wood, -7.35% for wood panels and -5.10% for paper. Price trends followed dollar exchange rate. Brazilian supply of wood pulp, wood panels and paper in the international market increased between 1995 and 2013. However, there was a decrease in lumber demand in the same period. 231. Die Europäisierung des Nationalstaates - Erosion oder Transformation?

- Abstract
This paper asks whether the traditional European nation-state has eroded or transformed as a consequence of European integration. In order to answer this research question, several aspects are being analyzed. Since more and more decisions that are taken on the supranational political level have a direct impact on the daily lives of the so-called European citizens, the author argues that Europeanization represents a tremendous challenge for traditional nation-states. The European Union evolved to a unique supranational entity that takes on many state-like functions, although it is not (yet) a state. Nevertheless, European nation-states still remain at the heart of the political decision-making processes, because the European Union is a) mainly founded by nation-states, b) there is no European army and c) the European Union is unlike nation-states unable to tax its citizens. The paper concludes that there has rather been a transformation and not an erosion of the traditional European states. Statehood is now being shared between nation-states and the supranational European level. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
In this paper an analysis of the database of the Hungarian national assessment of core skills is used to differentiate the performance of religious schools in the Hungarian system and to identify the migratory tendencies in the religious school system. The goal of the paper is to provide an overview of the comparison of students' test results from schools funded by various church organisations using data from the school years from 2010 to 2013. The research has identified tendencies in the test results of students at schools funded by various church organisations as well as factors of the socioeconomic and institutional context which may be responsible for these findings. Using linear regression analysis and a multivariate variance analysis, a significant difference between groups of schools funded by traditional churches and new churches was found. FAVA bean , *CROP yields , *FERTILIZER application , *PHOSPHATE rock , *CROPPING systems , *ORGANIC farming - Abstract
According to conventional farming knowledge from basal nutrient experiments, statistical relations were found between topsoil plant-available nutrient concentrations and crop yield differences received from additional fertilization which are especially well-suited to establishing fertilization measurement procedures, when as many trial results and sites as possible in the data analysis where included. However, the findings obtained are dependent on the yield level of the cropping system. Therefore, in this paper all available field trials conducted under organic farming conditions were collected with regard to mineral phosphorus (P, soft rock phosphate, Thomas phosphate) and potassium (K, natural potash salts, potassium sulfate) fertilizer application. Within the time period 1993-2016 regression and boxplot graphical and tabular analyses could be used to analyze multi-year trial results comprising 21 sites and 243 P variants and 30 sites and 201 K variants from a total of 9 federal German states. The relations between the available P and K nutrients (extraction with diluted lactate solutions, CAL, DL) and the relative crop yield differences between standard and fertilizer variants (0-100 kg P/ha/a, 0-664 kg K/ha/a) were described as quantitatively as possible. Subject to increasing soil content of P (0.8-12.3 mg P/100 g) and K (2.1-29.0 mg K/100 g), the declining yield increase from nutrient deficit up to yield maximum was clearly visible for both nutrient results. The yield effect of P fertilizers was different at high soil pH values. Contrary to the findings of the P increase trials, distinct interactions between soil type as well as the cultivated crop species and the yield effects were found in the range of low K concentration. On plots with insufficient soil K content fertilization led to higher yield effects on heavy soils (L-T) than on light soils (S-sL). In order of precedence, clover and alfalfa grass mixtures, row crops (potato, maize, field vegetables) and especially grain legumes (field bean, pea, lupine) reacted much more sensitively than cereal crops. According to the nutrient-availability classification system of the VDLUFA, aggregation of the crop yield results into groups of differently available soil nutrient content enabled nutrient ranges to be identified in which only marginal or no mean yield effects were achieved with additional fertilizer application. These optimal nutrient values of 2.5-4.5 mg P/100 g and 6.6-10.0 mg K/100 g soil are located on a markedly lower level compared to estimated values of conventional cultivation systems. Subject to the high range of the individual results within very low soil nutrient contents, mean yield increase of 9% appeared after P and of 12% after K fertilization. These experimentally established groups for classifying soil nutrient content can be used to further development work on fertilizer requirement methods in organic farming systems. ADULT education , *INCLUSIVE education , *TEACHER education , *STUDENTS with disabilities , *OCCUPATIONAL roles - Abstract
This paper presents the structure and first relevant findings of a qualitative study on the professional habitus of teachers in adult education. The starting point for this study is the process of change concerning the implementation of inclusive adult education promoted by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Therefore, the study focuses on the role the professional habitus has in this process of change. Inclusive adult education is understood as the teaching of disabled and non-disabled students without discrimination and on an equal basis, in this case referring to Literacy and Second Chance Education. The research methodology is the grounded theory approach. The aim is to develop a better understanding of the mechanisms associated with the professional habitus, in relation to the process of change in adult education. The study is located in the research project »Inklusive Bildung in der Alphabetisierungspraxis und im System des Zweiten Bildungswegs - Qualifikationen, Kompetenzen und Bedarfe des pädagogischen Personals« (INAZ) as a PhD project. TEACHER development , *TEACHER training , *CAREER development , *TEACHERS , *SCHOOLS - Abstract
Research about teaching competencies in the context of inclusion focuses so far attitudes and does not take adequate account of professional knowledge. This paper investigates what kind of knowledge is relevant from the view of teachers in practice to handle inclusion in schools. Interviews of 53 teachers of different types of school were analysed qualitatively with a literature based category system. First, the perspective of all interviewed teachers is presented. It follows an analysis, which regards the type of school and the level of school development. Our results show that teachers use the categories, which are abstracted from the research literature. These categories need to be supplemented by inductive categories. There is a difference between the types of school, and a relation between school context and professional development of individual teachers. This could be discussed as a specific indication for teacher trainings, which aim to foster inclusive competencies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TEACHERS , *TEACHER-principal relationships , *TEACHER training , *TRAINING needs , *PROFESSIONALIZATION - Abstract
The implementation of inclusive schooling (UN-BRK 2008) poses major challenges for schools and teachers. Through their studies teachers often feel unprepared for working in inclusive schools and express a need for further training (Werning 2017). This need, however, is often not matched by suitable training possibilities (Richter, Kuhl, and Pant 2012). The teacher training series »Everybody is Unique« (Jede[r] ist besonders - JIB), developed by the German School Academy (Deutsche Schulakademie - DSA) intends to contribute to the professionalization of principals and teachers and to disseminate good inclusive practice. The accompanying scientific evaluation of JIB aims to provide evidence on the effectiveness of JIB by triangulating various methodological approaches. In this paper, we present first findings on the school development goals JIB participants reported for their schools. Moreover, we discuss these school development goals as means of developmental processes in the context of changing schools. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Kurzfassung: The housing question is a topic of increasing concern in a number of European cities. Rising housing costs burden many households. Since the outbreak of the global economic crisis in 2008, housing has increasingly come under spotlight of investors. Institutional and private actors invest in real estate not only in metropolitan areas but also in middle and small-sized towns. Tourism-induced demand increases the pressure on housing markets particularly in tourist-dominated cities. The manifestation of these processes varies on a small scale and is influenced by regional-local planning and politics. Based on the example of the city of Salzburg, the article shows that the housing question manifests itself strongly aside metropolises as well. Financial investments by private and institutional actors in real estate and different forms of tourism demand exacerbate the housing shortage. By linking the discussions about the effects of (mass-)tourism and financial investments on regional housing markets, this paper provides additional insights. The additional demand for (residential) space by tourism is used to increase or secure the return on investments in real estate. Financial investments in housing offer additional (problematic) potential for tourist use, such as short-term rentals. Owners benefit from both processes. Due to the prevalent power relations, planning and politics have little to counter the current challenges. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Kurzfassung: This paper takes Foucault's and Sloterdijk's reception of the Greek cynics as an intellectual resource to critically examine critical geography's moralizing high ground. I analyse how, in 1983, Foucault and Sloterdijk paint the cynical impulse as a political practice of provocative truth-telling against the moral high-grounds of the dogmatic left of the 1970s: For Foucault and Sloterdijk, the cynics are anti-dogmatic, anti-theoretical and anti-scholastic. I will argue, however, that the cynical impulse is itself in danger of speaking from the moral high ground of anti-critique, a disposition that needs the anti-dote of skepticism. SCIENTIFIC knowledge , *NONPROFIT organizations , *VISUAL perception , *SEARCH engines , *KNOWLEDGE management , *OPEN data movement - Abstract
There is a discoverability crisis in research. A significant share of research outputs are not reused, even though publications are more easily accessible thanks to the open access movement. One of the main reasons for the crisis are the tools that we use for discovery. Classic list-based approaches are not suitable any more for the three million papers that are published each year. Open Knowledge Maps is dedicated to improving the visibility of scientific knowledge. To this end, the charitable nonprofit organisation operates the largest visual search engine in the world. Our approach is to use knowledge maps for discovery. Knowledge maps provide an instant overview of a scientific field and thus enable users to get acquainted with the literature much more quickly. Open Knowledge Maps is based on the principles of open science: content, data, and software are shared under an open license. This creates an open infrastructure, avoiding the lock-in effects of proprietary systems. Since the beginning, Open Knowledge Maps has worked together closely with libraries and librarians as the experts for knowledge organisation and management. As part of a consortial funding model, we now invite libraries to co-create the system with us - this includes important upcoming topics, such as the discoverability of research data. ARSENIC removal (Water purification) , *POINTS of zero charge , *ADSORPTION isotherms , *ARSENIC in water , *WATER purification , *GROUNDWATER sampling - Abstract
This paper investigates the removal of arsenic from water using an environmentally friendly modified biosorbent, chitosan coated with Fe-Mn binary oxide (Chit-FeMn), simply prepared with an one-pot low-cost procedure by simultaneous oxidation and coprecipitation. The sorbent was characterized by SEM, EDS, XRD, FTIR, BET specific surface area, and point of zero charge (pHpzc) measurements. The kinetic data fitted a pseudo-second order model for both As(III) and As(V), suggesting chemical adsorption on the sorbent surface and that intra-particle diffusion is not the only rate-limiting step during adsorption. The adsorption isotherms were best fit to the Freundlich model, and the non-monolayer adsorption model for arsenic on Chit-FeMn is therefore proposed. Below pH 9, the effect of pH on As(III) and As(V) removal by Chit-FeMn was insignificant, with As removals remaining above 85%. Cl- and NO3 - had negligible influences on As(III) and As(V) removal, whereas PO4 3-, SiO3 2-, CO3 2- and SO4 2- were observed to compete with arsenic species for adsorption sites. The adsorbent was successfully applied to remove arsenic from real arsenic contaminated groundwater samples to below 10 µg L-1 suggesting that Chit-FeMn is a promising candidate for the low cost removal of both As(V) and As(III) during drinking water treatment. X2C=Sn: (X = H, Me, F, Cl, Br, Ph, Ar...) are new species of chemistry. The cycloaddition reactions of X2C=Sn: is a new study field of stannylene chemistry. The mechanism of cycloaddition reaction of singlet H2C=Sn: with ethylene is studied for the first time using the MP2/GENECP (C, H in 6-311++G; Sn in LanL2dz) method in this paper. From the potential energy profile, it could be predicted that the reaction has one dominant reaction channel. The reaction rule presented is that the 5p unoccupied orbital of tin in H2C=Sn: sidewise overlaps with the bonding p orbital of ethylene resulting in the formation of an intermediate. The instability of the intermediate makes it isomerise to a four-membered ring stannylene. As the 5p unoccupied orbital of the Sn atom in the four-membered ring stannylene and the p orbital of ethylene form a p-p donor-acceptor bond, the four-membered ring stannylene further combines with ethylene to form another intermediate, and this intermediate further isomerises to a spiro-Sn-heterocyclic ring compound. The Sn in the spiro-Sn-heterocyclic ring compound is combined with adjacent atoms by sp3 hybridization. The results of this study reveal the mechanism of cycloaddition reaction of X2C=Sn: with symmetric p-bond compounds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, I will first review the history of advanced training for Chinese German teachers in the first phase (from 2006 to 2009) and the second phase of the development of the Department German Studies in China. The current situation of the young Chinese German teachers is presented and analyzed by the result of a research based on the newly founded departments of German Studies from 2000 to 2009 at 40 universities. This is also considered to be an argument for the second phase (2010-2017) of the advanced training, namely that the training courses should be aimed at special fields of German Studies. After the report on the second phase of the advanced training, I try to evaluate the impact of the training courses by analyzing comments in video interviews as well as e-mail surveys in 2016. By comparing the results conducted with the same target group in 2009 and 2017, the continuous impact of the teacher training can be brought to light. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper first introduces the 2 plus 3 program at the ZUST. Then the author probes into the question what the greatest difficulties are, despite of the apparent attractiveness of the double degree program. The results of a questionnaire show that both the intercultural differences and the lack of vocabulary significantly complicate the students' daily learning. To overcome the abovementioned difficulties, effective measures have already been taken in German lessons. The German language teaching experience in ZUST suggests that application orientation in German lessons is the key to its success. In the end, further considerations for improving the program are briefly explained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
