Search

Investigations into format shifts from physical to digital access in libraries often centre print materials. Similarly, recent calls to action for an increasing focus on acquisition of materials that support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) efforts within postsecondary institutions often centre print resources. For academic libraries, media like film have unique access and acquisition models that do not correspond to print and pose unique challenges extending back to the Hollywood studios that create and distribute films. This paper explores the dual shifts in academic libraries toward collecting fewer physical films and collecting more content to support EDI mandates, and asks: first, whether the shift away from collecting physical media may also be a shift away from including diverse perspectives in film collections; and second, if we have the data to draw a measurable and demonstrable conclusion. A comprehensive literature review traces efforts to assess markers of diversity in large library collections and/or film collections over the past two decades and helps establish a methodology that combines analyzing data from the library catalogue and Wikidata. Findings revealed that the completeness and consistency of the data over time makes drawing strong conclusions difficult and demonstrated the challenges of this approach in addressing EDI analysis, even when augmenting catalogue metadata with Wikidata. Curation and choice are perhaps more important in building a diverse film collection than questions of format alone, despite the challenges in assessing and collecting film which is and has always been a format in rapid and continual flux.

El presente artículo constituye una aproximación teórica al uso de los Entornos Innovadores de Aprendizaje (EIA) como contextos educativos inclusivos en la educación obligatoria. Los EIA combinan un diseño innovador del espacio y prácticas educativas innovadoras para favorecer la inclusión educativa y responder a las necesidades del alumnado. Se destaca la importancia del Diseño Universal para el Aprendizaje (DUA) y el Diseño Universal para el Aprendizaje Accesible (DUA-A) como teorías inclusivas que se pueden aplicar en estos entornos, afianzando de esta forma la primera idea. A modo de conclusión y como aportación novedosa se proponen una serie de características que deben tener estos EIA para diseñarse correctamente y facilitar la inclusión de todo el alumnado.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The main aim is to show the narrative of a woman who experienced critical events in her personal life. THE RESEARCH PROBLEMS AND METHODS: 1. How does the narrator describe critical events based on her family experience? 2. What meaning does she ascribe to the events experienced in retrospect? The presented research is situated in the interpretative research tradition. A descriptive‑theoretical type of case study was used. Empirical data was collected using Fritz Schütze’s narrative interview technique. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The interview began by presenting the narrator’s life story from her childhood to the present day. Attention was paid to her understanding of herself and her life, her relationship with her parents, and critical events that occurred in her family. The empirical material was then interpreted based on Schütze’s process structures, which revealed her current life course, critical events in the family and landmark events in the narrator’s individual biography. RESEARCH RESULTS: The interpretation of the empirical material showed the narrator in the process of change, internal metamorphoses. It revealed poor intra‑family relations, which became the cause of illness, lack of self‑acceptance, and depressive and anxious states. The therapy that she underwent, satisfying professional work and mutual feelings of love allowed the narrator to overcome her limitations, weaknesses and take a critical look at the family relationships that were the cause of her pain and suffering. CONCLUSIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND APPLICABLE VALUE OF RESEARCH: The narrative presented in the paper can become a stimulus for change in people who are currently struggling with family problems, illness or suffering: all those people who experience anxiety and loneliness in the space of family life.

No resulta ninguna novedad constatar que el absentismo es uno de los problemas más importantes y extendidos en las universidades españolas. Hasta el punto que lleva a plantear dudas sobre el propio modelo docente universitario. Además, hay indicios de que tras el impacto disruptivo de la pandemia de COVID-19, este absentismo puede haber aumentado. Pero, por otra parte, hay también indicios de que este absentismo no es transversal a todas las titulaciones ni todas las materias. El objetivo de este trabajo es aportar evidencia empírica sobre este grado de absentismo, comparando entre titulaciones, aprovechando la información que aporta la encuesta Vía Universitaria. Esta encuesta, que respondieron más de 40000 estudiantes universitarios en los primeros meses del año 2021, permite obtener estimaciones de las tasas de absentismo por ámbito de las titulaciones. Pero, además de obtener estas estimaciones a nivel de titulación, permite analizar cuáles son los factores más relacionados con esta no asistencia a clase. Para ello, los datos individuales de la encuesta aportan información sobre las características de cada estudiante (demográficas, familiares, económicas, sociales, laborales y de estudio), así como los motivos aducidos por el mismo para no asistir a clase. Entre las conclusiones del análisis se puede destacar que el hecho de compaginar los estudios con la dedicación laboral no resulta ser un factor tan importante como se podía suponer a priori. Y, en cambio, se detectan otros factores importantes. Factores que están mucho más relacionados con el modelo docente de cada titulación / universidad y con las especificidades propias de cada asignatura o materia académica.

El Comunicado de Roma de finales de 2020 es muy explícito en la importancia de garantizar la equidad de oportunidades en el sistema universitario, tanto a nivel de acceso, progreso académico como de inserción laboral. Esto requiere conocer, no sólo las condiciones de vida de los estudiantes a nivel económico y social, sino identificar los cambios que se producen a nivel de los procesos de aprendizaje. En este sentido, son varias las investigaciones recientes que apuntan a que una de las tendencias actuales entre la población estudiantil universitaria es el incremento de su diversidad. Y, dentro de esta diversidad, se han detectado también diferencias crecientes en la intensidad de dedicación a los estudios. Es cierto que las normativas académicas de las universidades han evolucionado hacía mayores dosis de flexibilidad. Por ejemplo, a través de las opciones de matrícula a tiempo completo y tiempo parcial. Pero, más allá de estas opciones, hay indicios de que la diversidad es creciente. El objetivo de este trabajo es aportar evidencia empírica sobre estas diferencias, aprovechando la información que aporta la encuesta Vía Universitaria. Esta encuesta, que respondieron más de 40000 estudiantes universitarios en los primeros meses del año 2021, permite identificar tipologías de estudiantes en relación con su compromiso y dedicación a la universidad, más allá de la tradicional distinción según modalidad de matrícula. Como conclusión del análisis, se pueden identificar las características (demográficas, familiares, económicas, sociales, laborales y de estudio), que más inciden en que un estudiante pertenezca a una u otra de estas tipologías. Esto tiene importancia práctica considerable, por ejemplo, a la hora de diseñar itinerarios curriculares o políticas universitarias.

Il y a maintenant 20 ans, Babylonia consacrait son numéro 4/1998 à la diffusion du Gesamtsprachenkonzept (ou «Rapport Lüdi», comme de nombreuses personnes l’appellent encore aujourd’hui en Suisse Romande). Lorsque nous avons décidé d’éditer un numéro anniversaire pour les 20 ans de ce rapport et que nous avons commencé à inviter de potentiels contributeurs, les réactions ont été pour le moins divergentes: entre, d’une part, ceux qui considéraient le Gesamtsprachenkonzept (dorénavant GSK) comme la base des politiques éducatives des dernières années, et par là-même digne d’être célébré, et d’autre part ceux qui n’y voyaient au contraire qu’un rapport parmi d’autres ne présentant que peu d’intérêt, se trouvaient les critiques, pour lesquels son manque de fondement empirique aurait dû empêcher sa diffusion et son influence sur les décisions politiques. Les divergences ont continué au cours de l’édition et des lectures des différents articles formant ce numéro.

The paper aims to critically analyse and compare legal rules and ethical principles in order to understand their possible relationships in the regulation of artificial intelligence systems. Indeed, the purpose of the work is to identify the interaction of law with ethics to guarantee an adequate regulation of AI, also in terms of sustainability, defining the measuring methodologies of the impact of AI on individuals under an ex ante and ex post perspective. Il lavoro si propone di analizzare e confrontare criticamente le norme giuridiche e i principi etici per comprendere le loro possibili relazioni nella regolamentazione dei sistemi di intelligenza artificiale. Lo scopo del lavoro è infatti quello di individuare l'interazione tra diritto ed etica per garantire un'adeguata regolamentazione dell'IA, anche in termini di sostenibilità, definendo le metodologie di misurazione dell'impatto dell'IA sugli individui in una prospettiva ex ante ed ex post.

Checking and monitoring water quality pollution is an important thing to do. In general, tourist areas are more susceptible to water pollution. The Peukan Bada subdistrict area has Ujung Pancu beach with a length of ± 2 km and is a marine area that plays an important role for the surrounding community. The development of human activities that occur around coastal areas will have an impact on water pollution. The aim of this research is to determine the level of pollution that occurs in the waters of Ujung Pancu Beach using the Pollution Index method based on physicochemical measurements. Water quality values are measured based on water quality standards for marine tourism purposes in the Minister of Environment Decree No. 22 of 2021. Based on the results of the analysis carried out, the result was that the level of pollution obtained was moderate pollution. The average value obtained at high tide is around 8.09 and at low tide around 8.47. Overall, the water quality parameters of Ujung Pancu beach need to be considered so that they are maintained so that they do not have a negative impact on tourist visits and marine tourism activities.

Coral Trout (Plectropomus leopardus) is a species of grouper that is highly valued and the main commodity in Simeulue Regency. This research aims to identify the supply chain, calculate the value of fisheries production and the percentage of production of Coral Trout (Plectropomus leopardus) in the PiSiSi Simeulue MPA. It is hoped that the benefit of this research will be market literacy so that it can be used as consideration for management policies and optimization of fisheries marketing in Simeulue Regency. The research was carried out in March-April 2023 through interviews, field surveys and collecting data on purchases/sales of Coral Trout from collectors. The results of the research show that there is a production value of Coral Trout that is different for each buyer in Simeulue Regency. The production value generated by buyers (collectors) was IDR 1,293,195,632 with a total weight of 10.23 tons. The fisheries sector in the PiSiSi MPA contributes to Coral Trout fish production of 41.47% or IDR. 536.3 million in 2022. Based on this research, Coral Trout fish is sold to local communities, processing coMPAnies and exporters in Belawan, North Sumatra and Jakarta.

The batik industry is one of the industries that develops from time to time. Among the problems that are still a concern today is industrial waste, especially the content of dyes. Reactive dyes found in batik wastewater are very harmful in the environment, and so far only a few industries process the batik waste before disposing of it into the environment. AOPs technology is a combination of several processes such as ozone (O3), hydrogen peroxide, UV light, titanium oxide, photocatalyst, electrolysis, electron beam, electrical discharge, and several others to produce hydroxyl radicals. One method of AOPs is the process of using fenton reagents. This study aims to identify the impact of variations that occur on the active components of batik color waste. The results showed that the use of zeolite catalysts tends to be more effective in absorbing polar components and less effective in absorbing organic matter. This statement is supported by a higher percentage of removal from natural zeolite than activated carbon which is 100%.

Metal-organic frameworks are one of the materials that currently have the potential as an anode material to replace graphite. It also has the advantages of large specific surface area, storage space and high gas absorption with high pore volume and good conductivity. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum temperature for the synthesis of Metal-Organic Frameworks to obtain conductivity performance. Zinc nitrate hexahydrate and acetic acid were mixed in N, N-Dimthylformamide solvent at various temperatures of 250-650°C for 4 hours with a slow pyrolysis process and proceeded with precipitation. Solid Metal-Organic Frameworks formed were characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier Transform Infra-Red, and IV-Meter. The crystal form is nanocubes of a layered metal-organic framework of Zinc (II) that penetrates each other in a hexagonal shape. The crystal contains zinc oxide with hydroxyl and carboxylic functional groups. Metal-organic synthesis occurs at an optimum reaction temperature of 450°C, showing high conductivity, with the fastest current increase, reaching a current of 3.82E-08 A at a voltage of 0.05 V.

Deep Belief Network is a type of artificial neural network that is widely used in machine learning and deep learning tasks that allows it to learn hierarchical representations of the input data. However, Deep Belief Network has a drawback of being sensitive to hyperparameters. DBN has several hyperparameters that need to be chosen appropriately for the network to function effectively. Poor hyperparameter choices can lead to unstable training or poor performance. Therefore, the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm is used to search for the best hyperparameters, which can lead to stable training and improved performance. The purpose of this study is to analyze public sentiment on Twitter using the Deep Belief Network method and to optimize it using Particle Swarm Optimization. The evaluation results obtained in this study are 71.4% accuracy, 71.7% precision, 71.4% recall, and 71.2% F1-score in the Deep Belief Network model which is optimized by the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm, whereas when compared with the Deep Belief Network model alone gets evaluation results of 68.3% Accuracy, 69.0% Precision, 68.3% Recall and 68.0% F1-score. These results indicate that the use of the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm is quite influential in analyzing sentiment in text.

This research aims to evaluate the ergonomics of passenger seating in speed boats used as a means of transportation in the Derawan Islands, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan. This evaluation was carried out by considering anthropometric data from the Indonesian people. Anthropometric data is used to design seats that suit the size and needs of passengers to increase passenger safety and comfort during travel. The research method involved collecting anthropometric data from Indonesian people of various ages and genders. This data is used as a basis for designing seating that suits variations in human body size. Ergonomic evaluation is carried out by considering parameters such as seat width, seat back, seat cushion width, seat height, and the distance between two seats. This research indicates that existing seating designs must meet the optimal criteria for passenger ergonomic needs. Therefore, recommendations for improving seating design are prepared based on the results of the ergonomic evaluation. This design improvement aims to increase passenger safety and comfort and reduce the risk of injury. This research contributes to developing more ergonomic seating designs for sea transportation, especially using speed boats in the Derawan Islands area. The results of the ergonomic evaluation and recommendations for improvements can be used by related parties to improve service quality and passenger safety in the Derawan Islands.

All aspects related to manual material handling if not done properly can result in losses and even accidents. One of the negative impacts of improper manual work handling is the onset of musculoskeletal complaints. To evaluate work postures, especially in production areas that are doing work, ergonomic principles must be applied. This literature research aims to, search for relevant literature related to the application of ergonomics, map the literature so that it can provide an understanding of the importance of ergonomics integration in work safety practices in various industrial sectors. This research uses a scoping review approach to identify, describe, and organize the literature related to optimizing work safety using ergonomic principles. The data collected in this study was gathered by searching scientific literature in online scientific databases using ScienceDirect using keywords and search phrases relevant to the research topic. The final 13 articles obtained were then analyzed, then the articles were classified into 2 topics, namely (1) the use of ergonomics interventions for employee safety and (2) the impact of ergonomics interventions on employee safety. The results of our review found that the application of ergonomics in occupational safety can result in a number of positive impacts on work and organizations such as improved safety, reduction of work-related injuries, increased productivity, reduced fatigue, improved work quality, and worker well-being.

Information technology is currently growing at a rapid speed in order to provide users with convenience, one of which is the ease of accessing the internet via mobile phones. The emergence of social media programs such as virtual buddy applications has contributed to the rapid increase in internet users, particularly via mobile phones. Social media, in addition to being a virtual friendship application, also functions as a promotional medium, one of which is the promotion of online shopping applications, hence boosting the number of online purchasing transactions in Indonesia. An online shopping platform was chosen to market university’s products, allowing customers to shop easier and may increase the growth rapidly. As a result, Kansei Engineering is used in this study to develop applications that tap into users’ emotional demands. In addition, to establish the optimum design for the user, the prototype was tested for performance and usability using a System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire. According to the study’s findings, the application will be created with the following feelings in mind: appealing, attractive, organised, practical, innovative, quick, effective, accessible, interactive, and unique. According to usability studies, the “friendly concept” application generated better levels of satisfaction than the other design concepts.

SDGs are a combination of universal and sustainable goals, targets, and indicators that can be applied to measure the reality of development, at the global, national, regional, area, and even village levels. Village SDGs are an integrated effort, one of which is to realize networked villages and culturally responsive villages to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs. The importance of a collaborative approach in village development to reduce village disparities, one of which is in the development of tourist villages. This study will analyze the goals and targets of the 17th Village SDGs, namely Partnership for village development through the role of stakeholders with their involvement in the governance of environmentally-based sustainable tourist villages in Tlemang Village, Indonesia. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative through direct observation, structured interviews, and documentation studies. The results of this study indicate that stakeholder involvement in the process of environmentally-based tourist village governance is carried out by the government, academics, mass media, communities, and the private sector, each of which has a role consisting of policymakers, coordinators, facilitators, implementers, and accelerators. The success of this collaboration has earned Tlemang Village the title of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The study investigates the substitution of wheat flour with beneng taro flour in the production of sable cookies. The aim is to develop a healthier alternative to sable cookies by emphasizing the nutritional benefits of beneng taro, a local food ingredient. Organoleptic tests were conducted to evaluate color, taste, aroma, and texture preferences among 30 semi-trained panelists. The findings indicate that sable cookies with 45% beneng taro flour substitution were well-received and had a shelf life of up to 8 hours when stored in PET jars at low temperatures. The study concludes that beneng taro flour can be a healthier alternative to wheat flour, offering lower energy and fat contents sable cookies. Further research is recommended to optimize the ingredient composition and storage conditions.

This article highlights the need forlegislation to protect human beings as such (and not only but most of all in their position as minors, elderly people, disabled people) is indispensable in a perspective of balanced development of technologies in all possible directions. Therefore, a new concept of vulnerability is asserted not related to physiological-cognitive deficits of human beings but to their very condition as humans operating in a digital environment. L’articolo evidenzia la necessità di una legislazione che tuteli l'essere umano in quanto tale (e non solo, ma soprattutto, nel caso di minori, anziani, disabili) è indispensabile in una prospettiva di sviluppo equilibrato delle tecnologie in tutte le direzioni possibili. Si afferma quindi un nuovo concetto di vulnerabilità non legato a deficit fisiologici-cognitivi degli esseri umani, ma alla loro stessa condizione di esseri umani che operano in un ambiente digitale.

One of the ultimate frontiers in biotechnology is Brain-computer-interface. BCI devices are currently developed for therapeutic purposes (e.g., as assistive tools) but also recreational ones. A BCI system detects brain activity, allowing a decoding of patterns of neural signals, then ‘translatable’ in commands a computer can understand and even carry out in the external reality. That’s why BCI is now becoming more used (or experimented), considering the advantages that could derive from it. Nevertheless, it also raises some questions from a legal perspective. This Paper focuses on BCI-based devices used for assistive and augmented communication of users, and wonders what legal regime should be accorded to the personal will expressed through those tools. Once the risks have been identified, the parameters and requirements a BCI device must meet, for the human will expressed through it having legal value, are outlined. The Paper proposes, in conclusion, a self-assessment strategy to operationalize BCI technologies applicable to the context of legal relations, implementing methods of risk evaluation and management. A risk- based classification model is also suggested.

The article aims to address the issue of the protection of personal data regarding the only category of vulnerable subjects specifically provided by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR): minors. Corresponding attention is dedicated to the Italian legislation (legislative decree 10 August 2018, n.101) enacted to adapt Italian law (the code regarding the protection of personal data referred to in legislative decree 30 June 2003, n. 196) to the GDPR. I will analyze the provisions referred to minors (e.g., articles 8, 12 GDPR as well as art. 2-quinquies of Legislative Decree 2003/196), as well as the principles and rules provided in general terms, which indeed need to be tailored where applicable to the processing of personal data involving minors. Positive aspects as well as critical issues are highlighted in the light of effectiveness, that is to verify if the objectives set out by law (rectius ratio legis) are put in place through rules able to realize them. With particular attention to privacy policies and effective application in digital contexts, the presentation aims to submit issues and proposals for solutions from both a de iure condito and de iure condendo perspective.

Starting from a critical analysis of the legal issues related to BCI applications, the paper aims to provide the explanation of a prototype of an evaluation and measurement tool for legal compliance of BCI products, in order to ensure the compliance by design of the BCI products with the current legislation and the protection of human rights. Therefore, the research work will briefly illustrate the main legal issues of interest and then the related parts of the tool prototype.

Introduction : Face à l’augmentation de problématiques de santé liées aux changements climatiques, les infirmières et infirmiers sont de plus en plus sollicités et doivent adapter leur pratique à cette réalité. Ce résumé a pour objectifs d’identifier des actions permettant de sensibiliser et de former les membres de la profession infirmière aux enjeux climatiques et à leurs conséquences sur la santé des individus et des populations. Il vise également à encourager les infirmières et infirmiers à devenir des agents de changement dans la lutte contre les changements climatiques en mettant en lumière les travaux présentés par le Comité Jeunesse de l’Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (2020). Démarche : Une revue narrative de la littérature a été réalisée dans les principales bases de données scientifiques telles MEDLINE CINHAL et Google Scholar afin d’identifier différentes stratégies et pistes de solutions. Des échanges informels avec plusieurs membres de la relève ont ensuite été réalisés par 13 jeunes infirmières et infirmiers afin d’approfondir leurs réflexions sur la pratique infirmière en contexte de changements climatiques. Les trois constats retenus et considérés comme prioritaires se définissent comme : 1) l’importance de sensibiliser et de former l’ensemble des membres de la profession infirmière aux enjeux climatiques et à leurs conséquences, notamment sur la santé; 2) l’importance de mettre en place des actions favorables à l’environnement; 3) l’importance d’instaurer des comités sur le développement durable et les enjeux environnementaux dans tous les établissements de santé. Appréciation : Pour chacun des constats, des stratégies et pistes de solutions ont été identifiées. Par exemple, intégrer dans la formation initiale et continue les notions relatives aux changements climatiques et leurs impacts sur la santé, pour que les infirmières et infirmiers puissent contribuer efficacement à la mise en place de modes d’organisations des soins visant à répondre aux urgences climatiques. Également, encourager les actions individuelles et collectives visant la diminution de l’empreinte carbone, comme la création de comités sur le développement durable et les enjeux environnementaux dans les établissements. Puis, encourager les infirmières et infirmiers à devenir des acteurs politiques importants en s’impliquant à différents niveaux (scène municipale, regroupements politiques, associations professionnelles, etc.) afin de prendre position sur les enjeux environnementaux. Conclusion et recommandations : Au terme de cette démarche, les infirmières et infirmiers disposeront d’arguments et de moyens pour prendre leur place en tant qu’acteurs clés au sein des organisations dans la lutte aux changements climatiques.

This article explains about the development of Google Sites web learning media based on a contextual approach integrated with Islamic values in mathematics material for junior high school or Islamic junior high school (MTs), including number patterns, circles, statistics, the Pythagorean theorem, and building flat-sided spaces, which can facilitate students’ learning. The product developed was tested in Islamic junior high schools or Islamic junior high school (MTs) in the Riau Province regencies, including Pekanbaru, Kampar and Indragiri Hilir, with the schools that have internet access. The research material for the Pekanbaru area is on Circles and Flat-sided Space Buildings, the Kampar area is on Statistics and the Pythagorean Theorem, and the Indragiri Hilir area is on Number Patterns. The data collection techniques used questionnaires and posttest questions with data types in the form of quantitative data and qualitative data. Based on data analysis from the learning media developed for the five materials above, it shows that the Google Sites web learning media based on a contextual approach integrated with Islamic values is in the valid, practical and effective category, where each material tested has an average posttest score for the experimental class which is higher than the average posttest score of the control class.

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of cassava waste and skim milk as a filler of phytogenic and probiotic blends to inhibit phtytogenic bacteria and aflatoxin. The phytogenics and probiotics blends were used in the yellow type with the composition of Galangal (Kaempferia rhizome), Temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrihiza roxb), Red Ginger (Zingiber officinale), Turmeric (Curcuma domestica val), Actinomycetes, lactic acid bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria, tempeh yeast, and fermentation fungi (Aspergillus); furthermore, the green type consists of Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata), Betel (Piper betle), Moringa (Moringa Oliefera), Papaya (Carica papaya), actinomycetes, lactic acid bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria, tempe yeast, and fermentation fungi (Aspergillus). Each pytobiotic and probiotic in yellow and green types were filled with cassava waste and skim milk, then dried in an oven at 50 °C for 24 hours. The ratio between the combination of phytogenics and probiotics with the filler is 1:1. The inhibition was divided into four types, consisting of positive control, negative control, cassava waste, and skim milk. The inhibitory pathogenic bacteria and fungi used the Well Method. The data were analyzed using a complete randomized design. If there were a significantly different result, then the analysis of the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) would be continued. The results showed that control positive in the yellow and green type has the higher inhibitory pathogenic on salmonella, escherichia coli, and aflatoxin. However, the filler casava waste has higher inhibitory salmonella, escherichia coli, and aflatoxin compared to skim milk. The conclusion of this research showed that cassava waste is effective as a filler for phytogenic and probiotics as an inhibitory pathogenic bacteria and aflatoxin.

Fly ashes often become an environmental problem and are difficult to process. Utilizing coal fly ash as a product is a promising approach to overcoming it. In response to this problem, the metal content in fly ash waste in the form of Al2O3 and Fe2O3 can be utilized by applying them as dopants on the nickel-rich cathode material to achieve LiNixCoyAlzFe(1-x-y-z)O2 (NCAF) which is a modified form of nickel-based cathode material or NCA. In this study, NCAF material was made in 3 stages: (i) Recovery of valuable metals Al and Fe from fly ash by leaching and precipitation processes to obtain Aluminum-iron (AF) precursor; (ii) Nickel-cobalt (NC) containing precursors were prepared by mixing nickel and cobalt salts using the coprecipitation method. This NC precursor and AF were mixed at a mass ratio of 90:10; (iii) Lithiation through heat treatments under an O2 atmosphere to form NCAF cathode material. The results of the NCAF material characterization are: (i) The XRD test showed the same diffraction pattern as the JCPDS 87-1562 reference; (ii) FTIR test of NCAF material showed that the storage condition affects the surface of NCAF powder; (iii) SEM-EDX test showed that the NCAF material has an agglomerated morphology and crystal-shape with a primary particle size of around 140 nm; (iv) Electrochemical test of Li-ion battery with NCAF cathode using graphite as anode showed charge and discharge capacity of 172 mAh/g and 144 mAh/g, respectively. Based on the results, implementing Al and Fe from fly ash as materials for Li-ion batteries should be considered for future energy storage technology developments.

Arie Sover’s latest book contributes to the field by revisiting the most commonly discussed aspects of Jewish humor, nuancing some popular claims regarding the roots of the Jewish humorous tradition, and updating the canon traditionally used for the exploration of the various manifestations of Jewish humor.

“How do you grieve a number?” – Unsuccessful Grieving in Jess Walter’s The Zero. Accountability and grief, assuming different forms and accommodating a variety of (sometimes antithetical) approaches, seem to be the dominants shaping 9/11 fiction and, consequently, the attendant criticism. Grief is a central theme to Jess Walter’s The Zero, examined in various manifestations, ranging from public to private, from counterfeit to genuine. The claim of this paper is that The Zero explores alternatives of grief only to invite the thought that the work of mourning, in a traditionally ‘successful’ sense, is no longer possible post-9/11. Se propone un sistema de clasificación para los recipientes cerámicos de tradición aborigen de la isla de Gran Canaria. Este sistema integra aspectos tecnológicos, formales y funcionales partiendo de conjuntos arqueológicos debidamente contextualizados. Se discuten los resultados haciendo referencia a las diferencias cronológicas, a la función y características de los yacimientos. Asimismo, se discuten los datos comparándolos con aquellos existentes en la bibliografía especializada. Los resultados apuntan a la coexistencia de diferentes grupos funcionales, consecuencia del desarrollo de cadenas operativas muy diferentes, mantenidas durante largos periodos de tiempo. A pesar de esta continuidad, se han observado variaciones diacrónicas y espaciales entre los conjuntos, especialmente en cuanto a su morfología y patrones decorativos, que podrían deberse a cambios en las relaciones sociales aborígenes, ocasionados por factores internos y externos, y a la cristalización de grupos identitarios diferenciados dentro la isla, al menos en momentos avanzados de la ocupación prehispánica.

“What is the Enlightenment?” is one of the most significant questions ever asked, a question that, in many ways, has shaped the world we live in. Either blaming or celebrating the movement, the answers to this question have attempted to contribute to the understanding of the modern world for more than two centuries now. The question started to infiltrate the European political and philosophical thought in the seventeenth century, although it received full articulation only in the late eighteenth century, when it engendered a spirited discussion about what had already been perceived as a decisive shift in Europe’s sense of itself. The late eighteenth-century debates on the changes brought about by the enlightened age stem from German soil and are notoriously associated with Berlinische Monatsschrift, the magazine that launched the challenging invitation of answering the question “What is Enlightenment?” in 1784. The question then produced two of the movement’s best known descriptions, by Moses Mendelssohn and Immanuel Kant respectively, the latter being influenced by David Hume and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Although Kant’s essay “An Answer to the Question: What Is Enlightenment?” has arguably remained the most prominent and influential, the last decades of the eighteenth century benefited from the contributions of several other thinkers who insisted on aspects that would become the tenets of the Enlightenment, namely the public use of reason, freedom of thought and expression, education, progress, the distinctive engagement with religion and faith, political awareness and revolutionary drives, all of them meant to improve the human condition.

This document gives a report about the educational experience called: Universidad Intercultural del Estado de Tabasco (UIET) located in the town of Oxolotan in the municipality of Tacotalpa. Referred data covers a period of ten years (from 2005 to 2015) and they are part of the research project “Significance and influence of intercultural education in the daily life of students at UIET”. This project was worked out from 2009 to 2011 as part of the research line named as Researching and interculturality. This text shows, from a critical perspective, the historical development at the University as well as the way in which intercultural education is conceived in this Higher Education Institution.Moreover, the formation process at UIET is analyzed as well as the actors involved, the different stages of construction, obstacles and challenges it has faced. All these through two kinds of supplies: first, starting with official documents of this institution; and second, about the use of qualitative researching methods and techniques through we identified, from de teachers and students experience, the vision about the becoming of UIET.
