We aimed to analyze the factors associated with decreased morbidity and mortality from malignant neoplasms of the lip, oral cavity and pharynx (LOCPN). A cross-sectional, ecological, descriptive and analytical study was conducted based on records of the SUS Hospital Information System, e-Gestor Basic Care and Atlas of Human Development in Brazil. Data were collected from the 27 federative units of Brazil regarding morbidity and mortality by neoplasm (2010-2020), Municipal Human Development Index (Census 2010), per capita income (Census 2010), General Population (Census 2022) and Primary Care Coverage (2010-2020). Cox regression was used to analyze the factors associated with increased morbidity and mortality of LOCPN (p < 0.05). Regarding the increase in the number of hospitalizations, it was found that cities with primary care coverage higher than 70% have a lower risk associated with increased hospitalization rates and increased death rates. Among the variables evaluated, only primary care coverage is associated with the outcomes under study. Here, we present two cases of patients diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (OS). Case 1: A 44-year-old female sought medical attention with complaints of a jaw lesion and associated pain. Upon physical examination, a swelling was observed in the right genian and submandibular region, along with bulging in the vestibular cortex. A cone-beam computerized tomography scan was performed, revealing a mixed lesion with irregular borders extending from tooth 46 to the right retromolar trigone. An incisional biopsy was conducted, which indicated a mesenchymal malignant neoplasm composed of pleomorphic cells producing osteoid matrix. Due to the malignant nature of this neoplasm, the patient was referred to the Head and Neck medical specialty for further treatment and monitoring. Case 2: A 19-year-old female presented to medical attention with complaints of pain and swelling in her jaw and chin. Radiographic findings revealed a "sun ray" periosteal reaction, which was indicative of OS. An incisional biopsy was performed, confirming the presence of a mesenchymal malignant neoplasm composed of pleomorphic cells producing an osteoid matrix. We are reporting two cases of dentinogenic ghost cells tumor (DGCT). Case 1: A 55-year-old female, who is a smoker, presented with a painless lesion in the left maxilla following a tooth extraction. Physical examination revealed an enlargement in the left maxillary region with buccal and palatal bone protrusion. A tomography scan was performed, which showed a hypodense image causing bulging/thinning (BT) of the floor of the maxillary sinus and left orbital area. An incisional biopsy was carried out, followed by the enucleation of the lesion. Case 2: A 43-year-old male, who is an ex-smoker, complained of a lesion in the anterior mandible. Tomography revealed a hypodense image causing root resorption of the anterior teeth and BT of the buccal cortical bone. An incisional biopsy was performed, initially suggesting ameloblastoma with dentinoid areas. Subsequently, the lesion was resected, and the examination revealed the presence of ghost cells, ameloblastomatous proliferation, and dentinoid areas, leading to the final diagnosis of DGCT. As per the Notifiable Diseases Information System, between 2010 and 2021, approximately 6,690 cases of Acquired Syphilis (AS) were reported in the state of Paraíba, Brazil. Clinically, oral manifestations of the disease are prevalent, serving as a warning sign for dentists. This study had a dual purpose: to examine the epidemiological profile of reported cases in the state and to present a series of six clinical cases diagnosed with AS. Regarding the epidemiological profile of notifications, the majority of those affected were male, of brown skin color, and aged between 20 and 39 years old. In the clinical cases, both men and women were affected in equal proportions, with an average age of approximately 40 years. All of these cases presented complaints related to the presence of ulcerations and erythematous lesions in the oral cavity. The clinical appearance of these lesions led to the suspicion of AS, which was subsequently confirmed by positive VDRL serological tests in all cases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Development and evaluation of a mobile application for remote monitoring and guidance of pediatric patients diagnosed with cleft lip and/or palate (CL ± P) and their caregivers., Design: This is a pilot cross-sectional, applied, and quantitative study., Setting: The study was conducted in two tertiary care treatment centers in Brazil., Participants: The participants included 20 caregivers and infants undergoing treatment with nasoalveolar molding (NAM) for CL ± P., Interventions: The intervention involved using the TeleCleft mobile application for remote monitoring and guidance of caregivers and infants during NAM treatment., Main Outcome Measure(s): The main outcome measures included usability and satisfaction of users with the TeleCleft application., Results: The results showed high usability and satisfaction ratings among users of the TeleCleft application. Introduction: Cleft lip and/or palate (CL+/-P) is a congenital malformation affecting the lip and palate, requiring long-term treatment due to potential associated complications. For this reason, it is important for the patient to be continuously monitored and followed for health promotion and prevention, as well as improving the quality of life. The aim of this scoping review protocol is to identify and map the available evidence regarding the application of digital resources and technologies in the monitoring and follow-up of patients with CL+/-P., Methods and Analysis: This scoping review protocol follows the guidelines recommended by the Joanna Briggs Institute Manual, employing the PCC acronym (Patient/Concept/Context). Searches will be conducted, in May 2024, of PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, ScienceDirect, as well as grey literature indexed in ProQuest Open Access Dissertations & Theses and Google Scholar. The review will consider all types of published studies, including grey literature, in English, Portuguese and Spanish languages, and will consider studies regardless of publication date. Exclusions will apply to studies that do not address the use of digital resources and technologies in CL+/-P monitoring and follow-up., Ethics and Dissemination: As this is a scoping review, no ethics committee approval is required.
