Abstract
- We aimed to analyze the factors associated with decreased morbidity and mortality from malignant neoplasms of the lip, oral cavity and pharynx (LOCPN). A cross-sectional, ecological, descriptive and analytical study was conducted based on records of the SUS Hospital Information System, e-Gestor Basic Care and Atlas of Human Development in Brazil. Data were collected from the 27 federative units of Brazil regarding morbidity and mortality by neoplasm (2010-2020), Municipal Human Development Index (Census 2010), per capita income (Census 2010), General Population (Census 2022) and Primary Care Coverage (2010-2020). Cox regression was used to analyze the factors associated with increased morbidity and mortality of LOCPN (p < 0.05). Regarding the increase in the number of hospitalizations, it was found that cities with primary care coverage higher than 70% have a lower risk associated with increased hospitalization rates and increased death rates. Among the variables evaluated, only primary care coverage is associated with the outcomes under study. Thus, increasing primary care coverage affects the reduction of morbidity and mortality by LOCPN. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
