The purpose of this research was to understand how second-semester students of the Medicine and Surgery academic program at Universidad del Valle learn about the main ideas of Human Macroscopic Anatomy (HMA). As a methodological proposal, a case study was carried out. Students' knowledge and understanding of HMA was assessed. For this, the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) model was taken into account, which includes the motivations and interests for learning, as well as the student' previous ideas. A participant observation of the theoretical and practical classes was carried out for 16 weeks, recording observations in a field diary, and obtaining audiovisual material. All the information was organized in an analytical index, creating codes for the analysis. The analysis, interpretation and representation of results were done using the ATLAS.ti 22 software. It was found that students learn the main ideas of HMA through a process that implies commitment to their academic training, where interests, motivations, prior knowledge and participation are involved. It is important that different study methods are used during this process, and that there is the support from the professor and the institution, who should favor the learning and immersion of the students into the academic world and university culture, through the design of proposals that integrate teaching, learning and assessment, and also take into account the social and cultural realities of their students. Human Anatomy is the first medical specialization course for students of clinical medicine and cultivates the virtues of medical students, helping them to establish the humanitarian values. Therefore, integrating humanistic values education into the course of human anatomy is crucial. In anatomy courses for clinical students, online previews, group-based clinical problembased learning, and theoretical lectures are used in anatomical education which is integrated with extracurricular activities for the education of human values, such as classical medical stories, group-based humanistic value cultivation, a memorial ceremony for "silent mentors", the morphological drawing and basic experimental skills competitions, and public welfare activities. After a year of implementation and investigation analysis, it was shown that students had a higher willingness to participate in the curriculum activities in this blended learning system, and these activities could stimulate students' interest in learning, which is beneficial to the cultivation of professional and humanistic values. Objetivo: Analisar as metodologias utilizadas para o ensino de Anatomia Humana nos cursos de graduação em Enfermagem. Método: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa realizada nas bases de dados (LILACS, Scopus, PubMed e Web of Science) incluindo pesquisas originais em português, inglês e espanhol, não havendo limitação de data. Resultados: A seleção de artigos resultou em 21 estudos primários, publicados entre os anos de 2002 a 2021. Foram evidênciadas diversas formas de aprendizagem, no entanto, as simulações em ambientes virtuais, os recursos interativos online e o uso de peças cadavéricas se destacaram em comparação às demais metodologias. Considerações finais: Mediante a análise dos dados, percebeu-se uma melhora significativa no desempenho dos alunos com a utilização dos recursos tecnológicos de forma interativa e expositiva, auxiliando os acadêmicos no aproveitamento do conteúdo abordado.

La presente revisión narrativa propone caracterizar las estrategias didácticas actualmente utilizadas en el Instituto de Anatomía, Histología y Patología de la Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh), para la enseñanza de la Anatomía Humana en los estudiantes de las carreras de Enfermería, Kinesiología, Medicina, Obstetricia y Puericultura, Odontología y Terapia Ocupacional de su Facultad de Medicina. Se listan las diversas estrategias didácticas implementadas y se explica la manera en que se han venido aplicando en esta institución a fin de perfeccionar la enseñanza anatómica, considerando los retos y desafíos que demandan las generaciones actuales de estudiantes y la dinámica del mundo contemporáneo. Introduction: Innovation in medical teaching in recent years has undergone major changes. Traditionally, the teacher used to rely exclusively on words, the blackboard, and anatomical dissection. Nowadays, classes are supported by numerous tools with the help of the computer. Methods: In the Department of Human Anatomy of the Faculty of Medicine of our University, during the first 4-month period of the course, we introduced in the classes the projection of 13 short videos with an average duration of 2.33 min, from laparoscopic and open surgical interventions, endoscopic and radiological studies. We surveyed at the end of the first 4 months period to evaluate the student´s opinions of the videos shown. Results: Regarding the usefulness of the video projection, 82.8% considered the projection very useful and 17.2% considered them somewhat useful. None of the students considered the projection of the videos to be useless for their learning. As for the duration of the videos, 97.3% considered the duration to be adequate. In the survey, the students freely expressed diverse opinions. Among others, they stated that they help to understand the real anatomy of the structures studied in 3 dimensions and that they help to review and consolidate theoretical knowledge of what has already been explained. They also said that they help with motivation in preclinical subjects. Others felt that the videos help to raise awareness of the practical usefulness of the subject in the context of the practice of medicine. Conclusion: We can assure that the projection of short prepared videos, taking sequences of open or laparoscopic surgical interventions and endoscopic or radiological studies, is very useful for improving the understanding of the subject of human anatomy, helping to clarify concepts and consolidating knowledge and increasing the student's motivation, as well as the performance in the study. Resumen: Introduccion: La innovación en la docencia médica en los últimos años ha sufrido grandes cambios. Tradicionalmente, el docente disponía exclusivamente de su palabra, de la pizarra y de la disección anatómica. Hoy en día las clases se apoyan numerosas herramientas con el apoyo del ordenador. Metodos: En el departamento de Anatomía humana de la Facultad de Medicina de nuestra Universidad, durante el primer cuatrimestre del curso introdujimos en las clases la proyección de 13 videos cortos con una duración media de 2,33 minutos, procedentes de intervenciones quirúrgicas laparoscópicas y abiertas, estudios endoscópicos y radiológicos. Realizamos una encuesta al final del cuatrimestre evaluando la opinión de los alumnos sobre los videos proyectados. Resultados: Respecto a la utilidad de la proyección de los videos, el 82,8% consideró muy útil la proyección y el 17,2% las consideró algo útiles. Ninguno de los alumnos consideró que la proyección de los videos fuera inútil para su aprendizaje. En cuanto a la duración de los videos al 97,3% les pareció que la duración era adecuada. En la encuesta los alumnos manifestaron libremente diversas opiniones. Entre otras, manifestaron que ayudan a comprender la anatomía real de las estructuras estudiadas en tres dimensiones y que ayudan a repasar y a asentar conocimientos teóricos de lo ya explicado. También que ayudan a la motivación con las asignaturas preclínicas. Otros opinaron que los videos ayudan a tomar conciencia de la utilidad práctica de la asignatura en el contexto del ejercicio de la medicina. Conclusion: Podemos asegurar que la proyección de videos cortos preparados, tomando secuencias de intervenciones quirúrgicas abiertas o laparoscópicas y de estudios endoscópicos o radiológicos, tiene una gran utilidad para la mejora de la comprensión de la asignatura de la anatomía humana, ayudando a aclarar conceptos y afianzar conocimientos e incrementando la motivación del alumno, así como el rendimiento en el estudio.

Um dos principais problemas enfrentados na formação inicial de professores é a limitada integração/articulação entre teoria e prática, ou seja, o eterno desafio de aproximar a escola e a academia. Assim, este estudo tem como objetivo refletir sobre uma experiência pedagógica com grupos focais para o ensino e a aprendizagem sobre o corpo humano, com o propósito de formação de professores de Biologia e de escolares do Ensino Médio. Para isto, foram realizadas entrevistas com escolares distribuídos em oito grupos focais, conduzidas por licenciandos de segundo semestre, do componente curricular Anatomia Humana, do Curso de Licenciatura em Biologia de uma universidade pública federal, situada na região Nordeste do Brasil. As entrevistas, gravadas em áudio e vídeo, tiveram duração mínima de 30 minutos. Em momento posterior, estas entrevistas foram transcritas e discutidas em aulas do componente curricular Anatomia Humana, tendo em vista não somente os aspectos relacionados à dimensão morfofuncional do corpo humano, mas também perspectivas pedagógicas adotadas na Educação Básica e processos de ensino e aprendizagem, de acordo com os relatos das entrevistas. Análises qualitativas das entrevistas evidenciaram que a atividade com grupos focais possibilitou aos licenciandos a vivência da docência, ao atuarem como facilitadores das entrevistas, e a aprendizagem dos escolares, ao compartilharem seus conhecimentos sobre o corpo humano com colegas. A partilha de experiências entre licenciandos e escolares favoreceu a construção coletiva de novas aprendizagens, a aproximação entre universidade e escola e a articulação entre teoria e prática na formação docente. A pesquisa indica que grupos focais, quando operacionalizados no cenário do componente curricular Anatomia Humana, podem constituir-se como uma Prática como Componente Curricular, ampliando-se, assim, o leque de possibilidades mobilizadas para a articulação entre teoria e prática na formação de professores de Biologia.

Se diseñó un material didáctico, como herramienta tecnológica para la enseñanza de anatomía humana en estudiantes de la Filial de Ciencias Médicas «Tamara Bunke Bider» del municipio Moa. La investigación realizada es didáctica. Se confeccionaron dos maquetas con información básica de anatomía humana, usadas como medio de enseñanza del Sistema Osteomioarticular. Durante el trabajo resultó imprescindible el uso de métodos empíricos y teóricos, tales como: la interrogación (entrevistas no estructuradas), compilación de conocimientos, interpretación, análisis y síntesis. La información sobre anatomía expuesta en las maquetas contribuye a elevar la independencia cognoscitiva en los educandos y debido a su factibilidad técnica y económica, constituye una innovación en concordancia con los retos de la Universidad Cubana actual.

O objetivo do presente estudo é relatar uma experiência formativa, fundamentada no trabalho com relações étnico-raciais, amparada pelo Parecer CNE/CP 003/2004 da Lei nº 10.639/2003 e desenvolvida no âmbito do componente curricular Anatomia Humana, com discentes de um curso de Licenciatura em Biologia. As relações étnico-raciais foram problematizadas por meio de fontes de informação construídas, fundamentalmente, a partir de artigos científicos. Tais fontes dialogam com os seguintes temas: bases teóricas do racismo, uso de fatores de correção racial nos algoritmos clínicos, conhecimentos de matriz africana e cientistas negros. A avaliação desta ação pautou-se na análise das respostas dadas pelos licenciandos às questões colocadas em fóruns virtuais. As análises permitiram inferir que os discentes (re)construíram ideias sobre a imagem de cientista, o papel da instituição Medicina na produção do racismo e os conhecimentos de matriz africana. Esta experiência formativa inova ao questionar diferentes formas de ensino e pesquisa associadas à anatomia humana.

The study and teaching of human anatomy is one of the cornerstones of education of basis science in health professionals. The aim of this study was to present a bibliometric analysis of the global outputs of research on the teaching and learning of human anatomy in the last two decades. The Scopus database was used to search and retrieve studies related to this topic between 2001 and February 10, 2021. A total of 10,481 documents were found through a systematic search strategy. A growing trend in publishing research results was evidenced, starting in 2001 with a considerable increase between 2012 and 2015. Four clusters were identified in studies related to teaching-learning methodologies of human anatomy. These clusters correspond to traditional methods and emerging methodologies such as the use of information and communication technologies, 3D impressions and diagnostic images. In addition, the results of this study indicate that the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany were the countries with the highest production in the number of publications on this topic. Although new methodologies have been included in teaching and learning human anatomy, such as the use of information and communication technologies, the trend in these processes continues to be mediated by the traditional method of cadaveric dissection. However, there is an increase in the immersion of virtual resources as part of these methodologies that should be integrated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted long-standing educational practices. In Colombia, online learning depends on academic and non-academic factors, and this dependence makes e-learning even more difficult. This paper aimed to study the students' viewpoint of Anatomy teaching at Universidad del Norte, Colombia, during the Covid-19 pandemic. One hundred sixteen students answered a questionnaire about their opinions on several topics related to online learning of Anatomy. The strongest correlation observed showed that the students agree that online anatomy classes make the subject more difficult to learn when compared to face-to-face lectures. Negative attitudes toward motivation, lack of personal contact with classmates, and complaints about being taught without laboratory sessions with cadavers were among the principal negative attitudes in students. After almost one year, motivation to participate in online classes went down; however, students improved their judgment about remote anatomy learning and their views about using authentic anatomy images during online sessions and substituting real anatomy images for apps. Anatomy sessions will have to adapt their learning tools to e-learning as time constraints allow, creating a new environment for students to participate, learn, and take advantage of this change. No Ensino de Ciências, cada vez mais se têm discutido a importância de repensar a prática educacional, buscando alternativas que colaborem para o processo de ensino e aprendizagem. O uso de aplicativos em smartphones é uma estratégia que pode trazer contribuições em aulas de Anatomia Humana ao, por exemplo, favorecer visualizações e a realização de atividades diferenciadas. Porém, a utilização desses recursos deve estar associada a uma proposta metodológica adequada. Neste trabalho, considera-se a metodologia dos Três Momentos Pedagógicos (3MP), que visa criar situações para desenvolver a capacidade investigativa e o raciocínio para a resolução de problemas. Nesse contexto, este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar a análise das contribuições pedagógicas de uma Sequência Didática (SD), baseada na metodologia dos 3MP e apoiada no uso de smartphones, para o estudo dos sistemas respiratório, circulatório e endócrino, em aulas de Biologia, no Ensino Médio. A pesquisa teve caráter qualitativo, a partir de uma intervenção pedagógica realizada com alunos da 2ª série do Ensino Médio de um Colégio Estadual do Rio de Janeiro. Os dados coletados sinalizaram que, em geral, a SD contribuiu para despertar a curiosidade e estimular a participação dos alunos, resultando no aprimoramento das concepções acerca dos conceitos científicos estudados.

A Anatomia Humana estuda o corpo por diferentes métodos, incluindo as metodologias ativas. Este estudo objetivou relatar uma das metodologias utilizadas durante um Curso de Especialização latu sensu. Vinte alunos do citado curso foram divididos em quatro grupos para elaboração de um roteiro contendo nomes de estruturas ósseas, musculares e articulares da região de cabeça e pescoço. Em seguida, os roteiros foram repassados ao próximo grupo para registro fotográfico das estruturas anatômicas listadas. O mesmo roteiro foi então entregue para outros grupos para a identificação das estruturas nas imagens fotográficas e na sequência para a correção. Finalizou-se com a conferência e análise do grupo original que elaborou a lista de estruturas. Pode-se notar diferenças entre os grupos quanto à quantidade de estruturas selecionadas, gerando roteiros sucintos ou extensos. Conclui-se que tal método foi eficaz para complementação do estudo teórico e prático dos conteúdos e exige participação intensa dos alunos.

O artigo é relato da experiência da pesquisa – AnatomoPoesia - sediada na Faculdade Angel Vianna/RJ, desde 2017, dentro da disciplina Anatomia Aplicada à Dança, lecionada pela autora. O objetivo geral deste artigo é apresentar a pesquisa AnatomoPoesia. Os objetivos específicos: contextualizar a fonte inspiradora da pesquisa – a Mestre Angel Vianna e sua metodologia; conceituar o que é AnatomoPoesia; refletir junto aos marcos teóricos sobre os conceitos que alicerçam a pesquisa.

El objetivo planteado en este estudio fue doble, evaluar la satisfacción del alumnado a realizar evaluación online, y las diferencias en esta según se realizase en casa o en el aula. El diseño y metodología se planteó mediante encuestas de satisfacción del tipo de evaluación y un análisis estadístico para valorar las diferencias en los resultados de esta según lugar de realización. La valoración del alumnado no muestra unanimidad (53%) en considerar la evaluación online como un buen método de evaluación, aunque el 67% y el 90% (según curso y asignatura) usaría herramientas digitales para evaluar presencialmente. La reducción del tiempo y la conexión, son los principales inconvenientes valorados. Los resultados de la evaluación global no muestran cambios según sea presencial o a distancia. Por lo tanto, consideramos que la utilización de nuevas tecnologías para evaluar ha sido bien aceptada por los alumnos y por el profesorado, y no se observan resultados dispares realizándose presencial o a distancia.

O objetivo desse estudo foi analisar o papel de uma estratégia de intervenção pedagógica focalizada na história da ciência na (re)construção de concepções de futuros professores sobre o processo de criação científica, considerado uma das várias dimensões da natureza da ciência. Trata-se de uma intervenção pedagógica centrada na abordagem histórica do sistema circulatório humano, desenvolvida e avaliada com um grupo de 22 alunos da disciplina Anatomia Humana, de um curso de Licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas. Na avaliação da intervenção empregou-se dois instrumentos de investigação, atividades de aprendizagem e roteiro da entrevista dos grupos focais, sendo que as respostas dos alunos às questões contidas nestes instrumentos foram analisadas por intermédio da análise de conteúdo. Os resultados da investigação indicam que a estratégia de intervenção pedagógica implementada contribuiu para que os alunos (re)construíssem suas concepções sobre o processo de criação científica, pois estes passaram a reconhecer a pluralidade de processos mobilizados pelos cientistas e a inexistência de um único método científico.

Introdução: A Anatomia humana é uma disciplina complexa, de base introdutória na estrutura curricular dos cursos de saúde. Trata-se de uma disciplina de suma importância para o profissional de Enfermagem, pois, além de fornecer o conhecimento necessário para o seu trabalho, é essencial para a compreensão de outros conteúdos durante a graduação. Sendo a Anatomia uma disciplina introdutória e com uma grande carga teórico-prática, os estudantes enfrentam desafios para aprendê-la. Nesse caso, a monitoria surge como uma estratégia essencial de auxílio no processo de ensino-aprendizagem, de disciplinas indispensáveis à formação profissional. Objetivo: avaliar o impacto da monitoria acadêmica na disciplina de Anatomia Humana para estudantes de Enfermagem. Material e métodos: trata-se de um estudo descritivo com abordagem quantitativa, realizado numa instituição de ensino superior privada, na cidade de Aracati-Ce. A amostra da pesquisa foi constituída por 100 acadêmicos do curso de Enfermagem, de todos os períodos, os quais frequentavam ou já frequentaram as aulas de monitoria acadêmica de Anatomia Humana. O instrumento utilizado para a coleta de dados foi um questionário com doze perguntas subjetivas. Resultados: de modo geral, os discentes do curso de Enfermagem estão satisfeitos com a forma com a qual monitoria vem sendo exercida, uma vez que esta é vista como um fator positivo e essencial para o fortalecimento do aprendizado. Conclusão: os alunos do curso de Enfermagem conseguiram compreender melhor a disciplina de Anatomia Humana através das aulas de monitoria.

Francisco Montbrun (1913-2007), an outstanding anatomist, was Professor of Anatomy for 64 years at the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) from 1937 to 2001, and founder of the "José María Vargas" School of Medicine and its Human Anatomy Department in 1960. A renowned surgeon, he worked at Hospital Vargas in Caracas and was a Professor of Surgery for 23 years at Facultad de Medicina, UCV. He mentored several generations of anatomists, physicians, surgeons, and university professors. Montbrun was appointed honorary professor. He held important management, representative and administrative positions at the Central University of Venezuela and the Venezuelan government. He wrote textbooks of anatomy and neuroanatomy, published research papers, and introduced surgical techniques in Venezuela. He contributed greatly to improve the teaching and development of anatomy and neuroanatomy, and the medical studies in Venezuela. During his extensive and productive public, medical and academic career, Montbrun received multiple awards and acknowledgements. Limitar o aluno a receber informações pelo processo de recepção, não atinge os objetivos requeridos pela educação atual, assim, faz-se necessário utilizar a problematização para tornar o aprendizado mais significativo. Propôs-se neste trabalho buscar outras estratégias de ensino para obter melhor aproveitamento do conteúdo ministrado e desmistificar a visão tradicionalista da transmissão do conhecimento. Assim, entremeou-se aulas teórico-práticas a outras estratégias de ensino, sendo elas: elaboração de casos clínicos; seminários e criação de modelos anatômicos; construção de dinâmicas de grupo em forma de jogos; elaboração de aulas práticas onde o aluno fosse o responsável por buscar seu conhecimento; avaliações teórico-práticas rápidas e em grupo semanalmente e aplicação de provas teórico-práticas convencionais. Para a avaliação da metodologia, aplicou-se aos alunos um instrumento de percepção subjetiva. Assim, notou-se que houve maior envolvimento dos alunos com a disciplina mas, no entanto, os mesmos ainda possuem uma visão arraigada sobre da formação do conhecimento.

A anatomia humana foi estudada formalmente pela primeira vez no Egito e logo se caracterizou por observações diretas e princípios da filosofia, já que a sua compreensão dá-se à luz da evolução dos seres. Esta pesquisa objetivou compreender o estudo de Galeno como fonte de conhecimento da anatomia humana, além de descrever a sua biografia com ênfase em suas contribuições à anatomia humana e relacionar seus achados e exegese anatômica frente às descobertas de outros filósofos. Concluiu-se que a compreensão da anatomia exige o resgate social e cultural da Grécia, onde os primeiros filósofos viveram, e que a ideologia de Galeno teve como cerne a sua criatividade e a sua originalidade.

In this work the quantitative data of the surfaces that limit the sub-spaces that constitute the peritoneal space are shown. The methodology of measurement of the two sheets (parietal and visceral) of the peritoneal serosa applied in our previous paper (Albanese et al., 2009), in non-eviscerated corpses, allowed us to know for the first time, the surface or total extension of the peritoneum "in situ". This methodology was useful to determine the surface or area of the two sheets of the peritoneum, which limit the peritoneal space. Our objective in this study was to determine the total peritoneal areas (visceral + parietal) in human corpses that are not eviscerated, which limit the different sub-spaces that make up the peritoneal space. Ten female cadavers fixed in 5 % formaldehyde solution were used. Small cellophane films were placed directly on the peritoneal sheets. The digital images were obtained by scanning these models. The surface was determined by the "Scion image for Windows" program. The results were expressed as mean +/- SE. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for the statistical study. The results obtained showed that the peritoneal sub-space of greater surface area was retro-omental (mean +/- SE 7767.81 +/- 646.70 cm2 p <0.01 ANOVA), due to the large extension of its visceral surface ( mean +/- SE 7401.82 +/- 640.99 cm2). More than 50 % of the surface of the entire peritoneum corresponds to said sub-space. The smallest peritoneal sub-space (3 % of the total peritoneal surface) was the pelvic sub-space (mean +/- SE 431.30 +/- 41.62 cm2). We believe that this information may be useful in case of peritoneal pathological processes or those affected by prolonged peritoneal dialysis, and that knowledge of the surface and extension of the peritoneal space involved may contribute to the estimation of the peritoneal surface involved and help to plan the treatment. A voluntary seminar was conducted, before the end of the academic year, for the analysis and discussion of the movie entitled “Innerspace” according to the contents covered in the human anatomy course. It is a comic movie, which makes it easy for students to engage and enjoy. A numeorus list of anatomical mistakes along the movie are pointed out and discussed in deep by students and professor. Students realized that ony from the fantasy is possible to navegate thoughout the organism and some of the body itineraries.

This film also constitutes a very useful resource for critical value and analysis of concepts on human anatomy.

This sci?fi thriller with astonishing special effects allows to fully see the extent of the anatomy of the human body, both vascular and musculoskeletal appearance. The film takes place in a laboratory, where scientists, after carrying out various experimental tests in animals, have found out the formula for invisibility and its regression. The next step is to test it on human beings. Throughout the whole process the filling of different arterial and venous vessels can be visualized as well as the different muscles inserted into bone apparatus with excellent visual animation.

A utilização de material de apoio ao estudo de anatomia humana prática caracteriza um importante recurso de aprendizagem. Foram construídos vídeos utilizando o acervo do laboratório de anatomia do Campus Uruguaiana da UNIPAMPA, com a indicação e descrição de cada um dos músculos. Após o uso pelos alunos da turma 1/2013 do curso de Licenciatura em Educação Física, foi possível verificar através da análise comparativa das notas de outras turmas que a utilização deste recurso possibilitou a melhoria das notas da turma.

Los científicos tienen un importante rol en el desarrollo de interfaces entre el conocimiento científico producido y las escuelas y/o el público en general. En Portugal, sin embargo, la transferencia de conocimiento entre las universidades y el público fue una actividad desvalorizada durante décadas. Con el objetivo de contrarrestar esta tendencia, una organización científica sin fines de lucro llamada Grupo de Estudio en Evolución Humana, con lugar de trabajo en el Departamento de Ciencias de la Vida de la Universidad de Coimbra, ha desarrollado desde 2005 un conjunto de actividades/talleres pedagógicos y experimentales en Portugal y en el extranjero en el campo de antropología biológica, bioarqueología y evolución humana. Entre ellas, el taller “La danza de los esqueletos” tiene el objetivo de introducir el rol del esqueleto en el balance fisiológico del cuerpo humano, así como aclarar la importancia de recuperar restos de esqueletos humanos a partir de contextos arqueológicos para reconstruir la historia y la evolución de poblaciones pasadas. El componente práctico de éste consiste en un juego sobre un tablero humano gigante, compuesto de preguntas acerca de la biología y anatomía de un esqueleto humano, que finaliza en la simulación de una excavación en una caja de arena. Nuestra experiencia en Portugal nos permite concluir que este tipo de acercamientos es bien aceptado por los estudiantes (de escuela primaria y secundaria) y maestros, constituyendo un complemento óptimo de la enseñanza formal. Estos talleres pueden ser fácilmente adaptados; de acuerdo con esto, invitamos a los investigadores a desarrollar estas actividades en sus países.

The efficacy of videos in anatomy education is still being debated. It appears that one of the major factors discouraging learners to use videos has been their length. To counteract this, 24 short videos (the longest lasting 1 minute and 13 seconds), were created for a course on musculoskeletal anatomy. Videos focused on identification of muscles of the limbs and their relations by area. The aim of this preliminary study was to assess students' perception of value of the videos and their utilisation. The number of views for each video was recorded. A questionnaire based survey was carried out focusing on students' perception of the educational usefulness of the videos. On average, each video had 339.5 views. Out of 312 students enrolled in the course, 210 completed the survey (67.3% response rate). A total of 181 respondents (86.2%) watched the videos and a majority perceived them useful in: Learning about the anatomy of the limbs (68%), preparation for the laboratory (56.9%), post-laboratory revision (65.6%) and preparation for the practical test (66.3%). Asked for feedback, students requested an increase in the number of videos to include structures other than muscles. Students reported to perceive videos as a useful resource in their musculoskeletal anatomy course. The shortness of the videos made them easy to access and use repeatedly. Future, more in-depth studies, based on the utilisation of the existing and newly produced videos, might throw more light on their full educational potential. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Anatomy has a history as a critical area of study for medical and health professional programs. Over the last several decades the way in which anatomy is taught and the resources available to aid the delivery of material has evolved significantly. One of these resources has been videos, and their role in anatomy education has transformed over this time due to technological advancements and curricula reform. While there have been significant advances in video technology and their usage, there is still a scarcity of research supporting the various purposes of anatomy videos. Differences in the results of studies that have been published highlight the complexity of successfully integrated anatomy videos into curricula. However, they have been shown to be a potential supplement to reduced teaching time in anatomy, as a pre-conditioning tool prior to laboratory, and as a summary method for classes. Students perceive them as a highly important resource for revision and preparation for examinations. Further research is needed to identify the important components of anatomy videos that lead to their successful implementation. These factors seem to be important to define as many programs face reduced hours with cadaveric material and institutions utilise greater components of computer based instruction into their educational design. Objetivo: Determinar si el aprendizaje de la Anatomía Humana en los alumnos del primer año grupos “A” y “C” de Médico Cirujano 2004 – 2005 tiene relación con el estado de su salud; de la Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco. Materiales y método: Se realizó un análisis de la información que se captó, así como un estudio retrospectivo a través de expedientes del Centro Clínico de la DACS en los alumnos del primer año “A” y “C” de la Licenciatura de Médico Cirujano del período Agosto 2004 a Julio 2005. Resultados: Los estudiantes presentan principalmente problemas de origen biopsicosocial, de tipo familiar, con antecedentes de familias disfuncionales y violencia intrafamiliar, que influyó negativamente en el aprendizaje de la asignatura. En México, el desarrollo y los factores que alteran el bienestar en los jóvenes son múltiples, variados e interrelacionados,resaltándose mayormente la influencia social y cultural. La familia desempeña un papel primordial debido a la fuerte relación ya sea positiva o negativa sobre la salud y educación en los jóvenes. Conclusión: La salud del alumno que aspira a la Lic. De Médico Cirujano debe ser valorado eficazmente en la División Académica de Ciencias de la Salud a través del expediente personal recabando detalladamente sus datos, que evalúe y trate al alumno de algún trastorno con la finalidad de orientar, detectar oportunamente los riesgos y/o factores coordinando apoyos con el servicio psicopedagógico; para establecer el seguimiento de los resultados obtenidos en la asignatura.

Este artigo investiga o uso de objetos tecnológicos no aprendizado sobre anatomia humana. A motivação está em saber se a tecnologia facilita o aprendizado de um conteúdo que é basicamente visual. Para tanto, foi feita uma leitura crítica de todos os documentos encontrados na revisão bibliográfica sistemática, pertinentes ao escopo escolhido. Os documentos foram apreciados a luz da teoria da carga cognitiva e da instrução multimídia. Como resultado foi feito um diagrama intitulado: conexões dos princípios para o aprendizado. Ele demonstra os lugares aonde os princípios são necessários no uso dos instrumentos tecnológicos para a instrução e os apontamentos em relação à carga cognitiva. Considera-se, que o ensino precisa estruturar o aprendizado de acordo com: informação, apresentação e conteúdo.

Introducción: El objetivo de este estudio es reflejar las reacciones físicas y emocionales de los estudiantes de primer curso de Medicina de la Universidad de Barcelona (Campus de Bellvitge) ante la sala de disección. Material y métodos: Los estudiantes responden a tres cuestionarios que valoran la intensidad del miedo, las reacciones físicas y psicológicas frente la sala de disección y los métodos de afrontamiento, en dos momentos del curso: al inicio y al final del curso académico. Resultados: Las reacciones más frecuentes fueron la sensación de disgusto, la pérdida del apetito, las imágenes visuales recurrentes de los cadáveres, el insomnio y las pesadillas. Respecto a los métodos de afrontamiento más usados por los estudiantes para contrarrestar las reacciones adversas correspondieron en juntarse y hacer broma con los amigos, estudiar anatomía y pedir consejo a compañeros y profesores. Conclusiones: La sala de disección representa, para los estudiantes del primer curso de medicina, el primer encuentro relacionado con la muerte y ésta, a la vez, implica el desarrollo de mecanismos de adaptación en su futuro profesional. Los profesores de anatomía no solo tienen una mera función docente como transmisores de contenidos, sino que también deberían dar apoyo a la adaptación progresiva de los alumnos a la sala de disección.Introduction: The aim of this study is to record the physical and emotional reactions of the first-year medical students at the University of Barcelona (Campus de Bellvitge) to the dissection room. Material and methods: Three questionnaires focusing on degree of fear and psychological and physical reactions were prepared and administered to students before the first dissection session, after the first dissection, and at the end of the course. Results: The most frequent reactions were sensation of disgust, loss of appetite, recurring visual images of cadavers, insomnia and nightmares. To cope with these reactions the students used some methods such as being and joking with friends, expanding their study of anatomy and seeking advice to their friends and teachers. Conclusions: For first-year medical students the dissection room produces the first in a long series of adverse reactions towards different stimuli and towards unpleasant stimuli and death. Would be doctors are obligated to develop mechanisms of adaptation in order to cope with the demands of the profession. As for teachers of anatomy, their role involves not only imparting information, but also providing support for students throughout the course.

This study aimed to address the importance of human anatomy practice, the use of cadavers and new technologies according to student opinions. This is a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study. Data were collected from questionnaires applied in the year 2015 to 173 students enrolled in undergraduate Biological Science and Nursing courses for both levels of the Human Anatomy discipline at the Biological Sciences Center of the State University of Northern Paraná (UENP). The data confirms the relevance of anatomical practices with human parts and corpses for the practical and emotional preparation of future professionals. Atualmente há grande necessidade de maior disponibilização de material didático no ensino médico. A escassez de segmentos anatômicos e a toxicidade dos conservantes, como o formol, têm gerado uma busca intensa por novos meios de demonstração da anatomia humana. Como solução para esta dificuldade pode-se utilizar imagens tridimensionais (3D), que facilitam o processo de aprendizado. Este estudo tem como objetivo comparar e descrever duas técnicas de reprodução de imagens bidimensionais em três dimensões, o que é chamado de estereoscopia. Os dois métodos avaliados foram o de filtro de cores (anaglífico) e o de luz polarizada. As técnicas foram analisadas segundo a nitidez e o efeito 3D. Avaliaram-se 14 imagens por 5 pessoas, com notas de 0 a 4. A média total da técnica de polarização foi superior em relação à técnica anaglífica. Ambas realizam codificação de imagens, que consiste na separação e na exclusividade com que cada olho vê a imagem correspondente. Após vários ensaios fotográficos e adaptações gradativas a uma melhor técnica, baseando-se em conhecimentos de física elementar, fotografia e neuroanatomia, concluímos que ambas são capazes de produzir efeito 3D. No entanto, a melhor técnica, em termos de qualidade final da imagem foi a de polarização, não alterando a coloração natural da peça, mantendo traços nítidos e possuindo menor custo.

This study aimed to demonstrate that the learning in the discipline of human anatomy is more significant with the use of a constructivist pedagogic methodology in relation to traditional teaching, enabling students to the effective construction of knowledge. Practical lessons in human anatomy were given for students from first semesters of the Physical Education course, Federal University of Goiás, using a constructivist methodology for the teaching of the Digestive System. The students were divided into 5 groups containing 7 students each. Each group used the class guide prepared by teachers, containing the structures to be studied, in addition to textbook and Anatomy Atlas. The data were analyzed using the Graph pad prism software (version 5.00) and submitted to testing for comparison of means (t test at 5% probability). The use of the new constructivist pedagogic methodology facilitated the learning for most students (80.65%) and 61.29% rated their learning as good. There was an increase in the time of permanence in the classroom, in the participation in practical classes and in the consultation to bibliographies recommended. About 64.51% of students felt that the practical lessons contributed to a better learning and most students (90.31%) considered their participation in the practical classes more active. In conclusion, the use of constructivist pedagogic methodology in teaching human anatomy facilitated the learning by the students involved in this work, making it more significant when compared to the traditional methodology. An anonymous survey was handed out to 616 first year medical students of the José María Vargas School of Medicine of the Central University of Venezuela during the six academic years from 2002 and 2008, so that they answer it voluntarily after a cadaver dissection session, after the first unit of the practice syllabus of Gross Anatomy I had completed. The results of these surveys delivered to first year medical students report a positive response to their initial experience with a cadaver in the anatomical dissection room. In fact, the students described this initial experience as positive in a 52.22 %, while 34,25 % referred to it as very positive, 7.14 % as stressing and only a 1.13 % rated it as traumatic. In the case of only 13.63 % of these students the anatomical dissection room was the most stressing aspect of the anatomy syllabus. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The anatomical variation of the major pectoral muscles is infrequent, namely the agenesis of the pectoralis major muscle due to the morpho-functional alterations it causes. On the other hand, he presence of -supernumerary - pectoral muscles is not common and its physiological, clinical or surgical importance will depend on the stage of its development. The important aspect is that these muscles, while crossing the anterior wall of the axila and inserting in the humerus, may confuse or difficult surgical access to the content of the axillary fossa. Pectoralis tertius muscles were found in two dissected cadavers at the Topographic Anatomy of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad de La Frontera, Chile. These muscles were bilateral and independent of the pectoralis major muscle. They originated in the external face of the sixth rib and adjacent regions, and inserted in the coracoid process, the crest of the greater tubercle of the humerus, or next to the insertion of the pectoralis major muscle, contributing to the formation of the anterior wall of the axila. The supernumerary muscles crossing the axillary region, whether in an arched form or elongated as the pectoralis tertius muscles, may confuse the surgeon at the entrance of the axila.
