Abstract We developed a machine learning algorithm (MLA) that can classify human thyroid cell clusters by exploiting both Papanicolaou staining and intrinsic refractive index (RI) as correlative imaging contrasts and evaluated the effects of this combination on diagnostic performance. Thyroid fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) specimens were analyzed using correlative optical diffraction tomography, which can simultaneously measure both, the color brightfield of Papanicolaou staining and three-dimensional RI distribution. The MLA was designed to classify benign and malignant cell clusters using color images, RI images, or both. We included 1535 thyroid cell clusters (benign: malignancy = 1128:407) from 124 patients. Accuracies of MLA classifiers using color images, RI images, and both were 98.0%, 98.0%, and 100%, respectively. As information for classification, the nucleus size was mainly used in the color image; however, detailed morphological information of the nucleus was also used in the RI image. We demonstrate that the present MLA and correlative FNAB imaging approach has the potential for diagnosing thyroid cancer, and complementary information from color and RI images can improve the performance of the MLA.

Background Postoperative thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) suppression therapy is recommended for patients with intermediate- and high-risk differentiated thyroid cancer to prevent the recurrence of thyroid cancer. With the recent increase in small thyroid cancer cases, the extent of resection during surgery has generally decreased. Therefore, questions have been raised about the efficacy and long-term side effects of TSH suppression therapy in patients who have undergone a lobectomy. Methods This is a multicenter, prospective, randomized, controlled clinical trial in which 2,986 patients with papillary thyroid cancer are randomized into a high-TSH group (intervention) and a low-TSH group (control) after having undergone a lobectomy. The principle of treatment includes a TSH-lowering regimen aimed at TSH levels between 0.3 and 1.99 μIU/mL in the low-TSH group. The high-TSH group targets TSH levels between 2.0 and 7.99 μIU/mL. The dose of levothyroxine will be adjusted at each visit to maintain the target TSH level. The primary outcome is recurrence-free survival, as assessed by neck ultrasound every 6 to 12 months. Secondary endpoints include disease-free survival, overall survival, success rate in reaching the TSH target range, the proportion of patients with major cardiovascular diseases or bone metabolic disease, the quality of life, and medical costs. The follow-up period is 5 years. Conclusion The results of this trial will contribute to establishing the optimal indication for TSH suppression therapy in low-risk papillary thyroid cancer patients by evaluating the benefit and harm of lowering TSH levels in terms of recurrence, metabolic complications, costs, and quality of life.

Abstract Turner syndrome is usually accompanied with various anomalies. Congenital urological and renal abnormalities are often associated with this syndrome. The occurrence of glomerulonephritis is uncommon. An 18-year-old woman showed fatigue and profound proteinuria. She had been diagnosed with Turner syndrome in her age of 15. The kidney biopsy specimen examined by light microscopy, immunofluorescence and electron microscopic examination revealed focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. This is the first case report of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis in turner syndrome in South Korea.

BACKGROUND:Although a wide range of genetic influences on thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (fT4) levels have been reported, sex differences in the genetic influences have not been well described. METHODS:We assessed TSH and fT4 levels in 2,250 subjects without thyroid peroxidase antibody, with data obtained from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (KNHANES) conducted from 2013 to 2015. Using variance decomposition methods, the variation of TSH and fT4 levels was divided into genetic and environmental components common to both sexes, and to males and females separately. The genetic correlation between TSH and fT4 levels was also assessed in both sexes, and in males and females separately. RESULTS:Narrow-sense heritability for TSH and fT4 were 54% and 56%, respectively. Sex-specific heritability for TSH levels was significantly higher in females than in males (75% and 41%, respectively; p = 0.037). Heritability for fT4 levels was not significantly different between males and females (62% and 52%, respectively; p = 0.335). TSH and fT4 levels showed a negative genetic correlation in females (ρg = -0.347, p = 0.040) after regressing out the influences of environmental covariates, but this correlation was not present in males (ρg = -0.160, p = 0.391). CONCLUSIONS:The genetic influences on individual TSH levels were more prominent in females than in males. In addition, female-specific pleiotropy between TSH and fT4 might be a clue that this stronger genetic influences in females would mainly affect thyroid function per se, rather than other TSH-related factors that do not primarily trigger the negative feedback loop between TSH and fT4.

Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is a common and life-threatening infection in patients with advanced cirrhosis. The prognostic value of a novel marker, the delta neutrophil index (DNI), was investigated relative to mortality in patients with SBP.Seventy-five patients with SBP were studied from April 2010 to May 2012. DNI at initial diagnosis of SBP was determined and compared with 30-day mortality rates.Of the patients, 87.7% were men, and the median age of all patients was 59.0 yrs. The area under the receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve of DNI for 30-day mortality was 0.701 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.553-0.849; p = 0.009), which was higher than that of C-reactive protein (0.640, 95% CI, 0.494-0.786; p = 0.076) or the model for end-stage liver disease score (0.592, 95% CI, 0.436-0.748; p = 0.235). From the ROC curve, with the sum of sensitivity and specificity, the cutoff value of DNI was determined to be 5.7%. Background Although several therapeutic agents have been evaluated for the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), there are lack of effective and proven treatments for end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The present study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of regdanvimab on mortality in COVID-19–infected patients on hemodialysis (HD). Methods We conducted an observational retrospective study in 230 COVID-19–infected patients on HD, of whom 77 (33.5%) were administered regdanvimab alone or in combination with dexamethasone or remdesivir during hospitalization (regdanvimab group) and 153 patients (66.5%) were not (no regdanvimab group). The primary outcome was in-hospital mortality. We compared mortality rates according to the use of regdanvimab and investigated the factors associated with mortality. Results Fifty-nine deaths occurred during hospitalization, 49 in the no regdanvimab group (32.0%) and 10 in the regdanvimab group (13.0%), and the mortality rate was significantly higher in the no regdanvimab group than that in the regdanvimab group (p = 0.001). Abstract Routine laboratory tests are regularly performed in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (HD) to detect anemia, chronic kidney disease-mineral bone disorders, and cardiovascular disease. More frequent laboratory tests may be associated with better outcomes. However, there is little evidence supporting a specific monitoring interval. This study evaluated the impact of regular laboratory testing on mortality in Korean patients undergoing maintenance HD. We used HD quality assessments, and National Health Insurance Service claims data from October to December 2015. In HD quality assessment, 22 tests are recommended every 1–6 months. A total of 34,950 patients were divided into two groups based on the regularity of laboratory testing. A Cox proportional hazards model was used to assess the effects of regular laboratory tests on patient mortality during a mean follow-up duration of 53.7 months. The proportion of patients with and without regular laboratory testing was 85.6% (n = 29,914) and 14.4% (n = 5036), respectively. Patients who underwent regular laboratory testing had a longer dialysis duration, lower serum phosphorus levels and diastolic blood pressure, and higher hemoglobin and single-pool Kt/V levels than those who did not. BackgroundPatients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) have a high risk of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and poor clinical outcomes. This study aimed to investigate severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine effectiveness against infection and deaths in the South Korean population undergoing HD.MethodsWe conducted a retrospective cohort study to compare the incidence of COVID-19 and post-diagnosis mortality between patients who were either never vaccinated or fully or partially vaccinated. The Korean nationwide COVID-19 registry and the Korean National Health Insurance Service databases were used. Adult patients without a history of COVID-19 were included between October 8, 2020, and December 31, 2021. The study outcomes were COVID-19 diagnosis, severe clinical COVID-19-related events, and post-diagnosis death.ResultsEighty-five thousand eighteen patients undergoing HD were included, of whom 69,601 were fully vaccinated, 2,213 were partially vaccinated and 13,204 were unvaccinated. Compared with the unvaccinated group, the risk of being diagnosed with COVID-19 in patients who were fully vaccinated decreased during the study period (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 0.147; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.135–0.159). There were 1,140 (1.3%) patients diagnosed with COVID-19. After diagnosis, fully vaccinated patients were significantly less likely to die than unvaccinated patients (aOR = 0.940; 95% CI = 0.901–0.980) and to experience severe clinical events (aOR = 0.952; 95% CI = 0.916–0.988).ConclusionFull vaccination against COVID-19 was associated with a reduced risk of both infection and severe clinical outcomes in the South Korean population undergoing HD. These findings support the use of vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 among patients undergoing HD.

Introduction: End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is a growing disease in Korea and worldwide and is an important condition that affects patient outcomes. In order to provide optimal management for mineral disturbance, vascular calcification, and bone disease of ESRD patients, the ORCHESTRA study (Korean dialysis cohort for mineral, vascular calcification, and fracture) was conducted and enrolled Korean dialysis patients. Methods: Sixteen university-affiliated hospitals and one Veterans Health Service Medical Center participated in this study. This prospective cohort study enrolled approximately 900 consecutive dialysis patients between May 2019 and January 2021. Enrolled subjects were evaluated at baseline for demographic information, laboratory tests, radiologic imaging, and bone mineral densitometry (BMD) scans. After enrollment, regular assessments of patients were performed and their biospecimens were collected according to the study protocol. Primary outcomes were occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), invasive treatment for peripheral artery disease (PAD), and osteoporotic fractures. Secondary outcomes were hospitalization for cerebro-cardiovascular disease or progression of abdominal aortic calcification (AAC). Participants will be assessed for up to three years to determine whether primary or secondary outcomes occur. Results: From May 2019 to January 2021, all participating centers recruited 900 consecutive dialysis patients, including 786 undergoing hemodialysis (HD) and 114 undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD). The mean age of subjects was 60.4 ± 12.3 years. Males accounted for 57.7%. The mean dialysis vintage was 6.1 ± 6.0 years. The HD group was significantly older, had a longer dialysis vintage, and more comorbidities. Overall, the severity of vascular calcification was higher and the level of BMD was lower in the HD group than in the PD group. Conclusion: This is a nationwide, multicenter, prospective cohort study that focuses on CKD-mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD) and aims to provide clinical evidence to establish optimal treatment guidelines for Asian dialysis patients.

Inflammation plays a major role in the pathogenesis of chronic kidney disease (CKD), but the relationship between systemic inflammation and CKD-mineral bone disease is unclear. We aimed to investigate whether the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is related to abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) and bone mineral density (BMD) in dialysis patients. In this cross-sectional analysis using baseline data of a multicenter cohort, a total of 759 patients were divided into three groups according to NLR level, and the associations between NLR and Kauppila AAC score (AACS) and BMD were assessed. The highest tertile NLR group had more males, alcohol consumers, higher diabetes prevalence, and higher comorbidity index than the lowest tertile NLR group. Fasting glucose and C-reactive protein levels were higher, while serum albumin, serum iron, and lipid profiles except triglycerides were lower in the highest tertile group. AACS was significantly higher in the highest tertile group than in the lowest and middle tertile groups (p = 0.017), but the mean areal BMD and T-score of the lumbar spine and femur were not different between groups. NLR level was positively correlated with AACS in all aortic wall segments except L1 and L3 anterior. In multivariable logistic regression analysis, the highest tertile NLR group was independently associated with AAC (odds ratio 2.876, 95% confidence interval 1.250-6.619, p = 0.013) but was not associated with osteoporosis in the lumbar spine and femur after adjusting for confounding factors. The NLR can be used as a potential indicator of AAC in dialysis patients.

AbstractBackground This study was performed to compare severe clinical outcome between initially asymptomatic and symptomatic infections and to identify risk factors associated with high patient mortality among initially asymptomatic patients.Methods In this retrospective, nationwide cohort study, we included 5621 patients who had been discharged from isolation or died from COVID-19 by 30 April 2020. The mortality rate and admission rate to intensive care unit (ICU) were compared between initially asymptomatic and symptomatic patients. We established a prediction model for patient mortality through risk factor analysis among initially asymptomatic patients.Results The prevalence of initially asymptomatic patients upon admission was 25.8%. The mortality rates were not different between groups (3.3% vs. 4.5%, p = .17). Background. At a university hospital in Korea, we conducted a retrospective study to determine the association of the progression of diabetic retinopathy (DR) with declining renal function in type 2 diabetes. Methods. We included a total of 1527 patients with type 2 diabetes who followed up in our diabetes clinic and underwent fundus photographic examinations from August 2006 to February 2014. DR was assessed by retinal ophthalmologists using comprehensive ophthalmologic examinations. Results. The baseline prevalence of nonproliferative DR (NPDR) and proliferative DR (PDR) was 26.5% and 14.7%, respectively. Among 1303 patients with no DR and NPDR, 134 (10.3%) patients progressed to NPDR or PDR. The progression group had longer duration of diabetes, higher fasting plasma glucose, higher HbA1c, and a higher rate of ≥20% decline in eGFR during the follow-up period. After multivariate analysis, ≥20% decline in eGFR (odds ratio 2.553, 95% CI 1.219-5.348, p=0.013) was an independent risk factor for progression of DR in patients with NPDR. Conclusion. Declining renal function was independently associated with DR progression in patients with NPDR, suggesting that investigation of DR status should be recommended for patients with declining renal function.

Background and Objectives: In patients with congestive heart failure, brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) are released due to excessive heart muscle expansion; they can be used for the early detection, progress monitoring, and treatment of congestive heart failure. Recently, considerable efforts have been made to develop an NT-proBNP-based biomarker for detecting heart failure. This study attempts to develop a rapid and accurate congestive heart failure diagnostic kit using NT-proBNP. Materials and Methods: A new gene based on NT-proBNP was selected, recombined, and expressed in Escherichia coli strains, and then monoclonal antibodies were produced using the hybridoma technique. Additionally, antigen-antibody reactivity was confirmed using indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Furthermore, the first pair and full-strip pair tests were conducted to select candidate clones; these were applied to a rapid diagnosis kit based on gold conjugates and compared with other currently available antigens. Results: NT-proBNP-based antigens with high specificity and monoclonal antibodies were produced, and the optimal antigen-antibody reactivity was confirmed using indirect ELISA. The first pair and full-strip pair tests were performed to select the optimal candidate clones, and a rapid diagnosis kit with excellent reactivity was developed by applying these to a rapid diagnosis kit based on gold conjugates. Conclusions: The development of this rapid diagnosis kit with excellent performance in congestive heart failure is expected to improve disease management by providing an early assessment of the risk of heart failure.

Background: In patients undergoing incident hemodialysis, increased fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF-23) levels are associated with the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD), but the influence of residual kidney function (RFK) on this association is unclear. This study aimed to investigate the association between FGF-23 levels, RKF, and CVD in patients undergoing prevalent hemodialysis. Methods: This cross-sectional and longitudinal observational study included 296 patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis for at least three months who were followed up for a median of 44 months. RKF was defined as 24-h urine output >200 mL, left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction as E/E' >15 on echocardiographic parameters. CVD was defined as hospitalization or emergency room visits due to cardiovascular causes, such as angina, myocardial infarction, or congestive heart failure. Results: The median intact FGF-23 (iFGF-23) level was 423.8 pg/mL (interquartile range, 171-1,443). Patients with an FGF-23 level > 423.8 pg/mL significantly had a lower proportion of RKF (39.2% vs. 60.1%, P < 0.001) and a higher proportion of LV diastolic dysfunction (54. 1% vs. 29.1%, P < 0.001) than those with an iFGF-23 level ≤ 423.8 pg/mL. The odds ratio (OR) for LV diastolic dysfunction was significantly higher in patients with RFK (OR per one-unit increase in the natural log-transformed iFGF-23 levels, 1.80; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.11-2.93) than in patients without RKF (OR per one-unit increase in the natural log-transformed iFGF-23 levels: 1.42; 95% CI: 1.01-1.99) in multivariate analysis (p < 0.001). During the follow-up period, 55 patients experienced CVD. The hazard ratio (HR) for CVD development was also significantly higher in patients with RKF (HR per one-unit increase in the natural log-transformed iFGF- 23 levels, 2.64; 95% CI: 1.29-5.40) than those without RKF (HR per one-unit increase in the natural log-transformed iFGF-23 levels: 1.44; 95% CI: 1.04-1.99) in multivariate analysis (p = 0.05). Conclusions: Increased iFGF-23 levels were associated with LV diastolic dysfunction and CVD development in patients undergoing prevalent hemodialysis; however, the loss of RKF attenuated the magnitude of these associations. Context: Thyroid dysfunction is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in the general population; however, it remains controversial whether differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) treatment, including thyroidectomy and thyroid-stimulating hormone suppression, further increases the risk of CVD.Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the risk of CVD in patients with DTC.Methods: We performed a review of observational studies on associations between DTC and cardiovascular outcomes, indexed in MEDLINE, Embase, and Web of Science. We excluded studies that evaluated CVD as comorbidity before DTC diagnosis and those that used active surveillance without thyroidectomy as an intervention. Risk estimates were pooled using random- and fixed-effects models when 3 or more studies reported on the outcome of interest. Echocardiographic and hemodynamic parameters were examined.Results: Eighteen studies were included in the quantitative analysis (193 320 cases with DTC and 225 575 healthy controls). DTC was associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (pooled risk ratio [RR] = 1.55 [95% CI: 1.30-1.84]), coronary artery disease (RR = 1.10 [1.00-1.21]), cerebrovascular accidents (RR = 1.15 [1.09-1.20]), and all-cause mortality (RR = 1.95 [1.03-3.69]). DTC was associated with higher diastolic blood pressure (standardized mean difference [SMD], 0.22 [0.01-0.42]), heart rate (0.37 [0.17-0.57]), left ventricular mass index (0.66 [0.45-0.88]), and interventricular septal thickness (0.91 [0.33-1.49]) and lower early to late ventricular filling velocities (-0.42 [-0.79 to -0.05]), but not with ejection fraction.Conclusion: Patients with DTC are at an increased risk of atrial fibrillation, CVD, increased heart rate, and left ventricular mass development. Displacive transformations in colloidal crystals may offer a pathway for increasing the diversity of accessible configurations without the need to engineer particle shape or interaction complexity. To date, binary crystals composed of spherically symmetric particles at specific size ratios have been formed that exhibit floppiness and facile routes for transformation into more rigid structures that are otherwise not accessible by direct nucleation and growth. There is evidence that such transformations, at least at the micrometer scale, are kinetically influenced by concomitant solvent motion that effectively induces hydrodynamic correlations between particles. Here, we study quantitatively the impact of such interactions on the transformation of binary bcc-CsCl analog crystals into close-packed configurations. We first employ principal-component analysis to stratify the explorations of a bcc-CsCl crystallite into orthogonal directions according to displacement. We then compute diffusion coefficients along the different directions using several dynamical models and find that hydrodynamic correlations, depending on their range, can either enhance or dampen collective particle motions. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious viral disease that is caused by the novel virus Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). COVID-19 has become pandemic since December 2019, when the first case developed in Wuhan, China. Patients receiving hemodialysis are more vulnerable to viral transmission because their immune functions are impaired and they receive treatment within a narrow space. Calling on previous experience with Middle East Respiratory Syndrome during the 2015 outbreak, the joint committee of the Korean Society of Nephrology and the Korean Society of Dialysis Therapy quickly formed a COVID-19 task force team to develop a manual before the first index case was diagnosed in the hemodialysis unit. This special article introduces clinical practice guidelines to prevent secondary transmission of COVID-19 within hemodialysis facilities, which were developed to protect patients, healthcare workers, and caregivers from this highly transmissible virus. The areas of infection control covered by these guidelines include standard precautions, performing dialysis therapy for confirmed or suspected cases, performing cohort isolation for contact patients, and disease monitoring and contact surveillance. Purpose The volume of thyroid cancer screening and subsequent thyroid fine-needle aspiration (FNA) have rapidly increased in South Korea. We analyzed the thyroid cancer diagnoses/thyroid FNA ratio according to the annual number of FNA to evaluate changes in the diagnosticefficiency of FNA. Materials and Methods This was a nationwide population-based retrospective cohort study. The overall thyroid cancer diagnoses/thyroid FNA ratio and annual incremental thyroid cancer diagnoses/incremental thyroid FNA ratio were indirectly calculated using data obtained from the Korea Central Cancer Registry database and the Korean National Health Insurance Service claims database from 2004 to 2012. Pearson correlation analyses were performed to evaluate the strength of linear associations between variables. Results The number of thyroid FNA increased from 28,596 to 177,805 (6.2-fold increase) from 2004 to 2012. The overall thyroid cancer diagnoses/thyroid FNA ratio decreased from 36.5% in 2004 to 25.1% in 2012 and was negatively correlated to the number of FNA (R=‒0.977, p < 0.001). The annual incremental thyroid cancer diagnoses/incremental thyroid FNA ratios (range, 15.3% to 30.7%) were always lower than the overall thyroid cancer diagnoses/thyroid FNA ratio in each year and also worsened according to the increase in the number of FNA (R=‒0.853, p=0.007). Conclusion The diagnostic performance of both overall and annual incremental thyroid FNA worsened, whereas the number of thyroid FNA procedures increased. More sophisticated indications for FNA are required to improve its diagnostic efficiency, considering the increased burden of screening-detected thyroid nodules. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Elevated serum alkaline phosphatase (AP) and γ-glutamyl transferase (γ-GT) are commonly observed in patients with acute pyelonephritis. The goal of this study was to examine the clinical significance of elevated serum AP and γ-GT levels and to explore the mechanisms underlying these changes. Methods: We examined serum AP and γ-GT levels in 438 patients with acute pyelonephritis. Urine AP/creatinine (Cr), urine γ-GT/Cr, fractional excretion of AP, and fractional excretion of γ-GT (FEγ-GT) were evaluated in patients with elevated and normal serum levels. AP isoenzymes were also examined. Results: We identified 77 patients (17.6%) with elevated serum AP and 134 patients (30.6%) with elevated serum γ-GT. Among them, both enzymes were elevated in 64 patients (14.6%). Older age, longer hospital stay, elevated baseline serum Cr, and complicated pyelonephritis were associated with increases in serum AP and γ-GT. Multivariate analysis showed that high serum AP levels were significantly correlated with renal impairment (odds ratio, 2.13; 95% confidence interval, 1.08-4.19; P = 0.029). FEγ-GT was significantly lower in patients with elevated serum enzyme levels. The liver fraction for AP isoenzyme profile did not increase in patients with elevated serum AP. Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that elevated serum AP and γ-GT levels are associated with complicated pyelonephritis and renal impairment. Patients receiving hemodialysis are vulnerable to infectious diseases due to their impaired immunity and high risk of exposure to pathogens. To protect patients, staff, and visitors from potential infections, each hemodialysis unit should establish and follow standard infection control and prevention measures. Therefore, clinical practice guidelines were developed by a working group of nephrologists and infection control specialists to provide evidence-based guidance for dialysis physicians and nurses, with the aim of preventing infection transmission and controlling infection sources in hemodialysis facilities. The areas of infection control covered by these guidelines include standard precautions, isolation strategies, vascular access, water treatment, cleaning/disinfecting/sterilizing, and vaccination. The Korean Society of Nephrology participated in the task force team consisting of government authorities and civilian experts to prevent and control the spread of Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) in 2015. The Korean Society of Nephrology MERS Task Force Team took an immediate action and drafted 'the clinical recommendation for hemodialysis facilities' to follow when the first and the only confirmed case was reported in the hemodialysis unit. Owing to the dedicated support from medical doctors, dialysis nurses, and related medical companies, we could prevent further transmission of MERS infection successfully in hemodialysis units. This special report describes the experience of infection control during MERS outbreak in 2015 and summarizes the contents of 'the clinical practice guideline for hemodialysis facilities dealing with MERS patients' built upon our previous experience.
