In the evolving landscape of the Internet of Things (IoT), ensuring the security and integrity of data transmission remains a paramount challenge. Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) is commonly utilized in IoT networks to facilitate efficient data routing. However, RPL networks are susceptible to various security threats, with Sybil and flood attacks being particularly detrimental. Sybil attacks involve malicious nodes generating multiple fake identities to disrupt network operations, while flood attacks overwhelm network resources by inundating them with excessive traffic. This paper proposes a novel mitigation strategy leveraging Bloom filters and hash chains to enhance the security of RPL-based IoT networks against sybil and flood attacks. Extensive simulation and performance analysis demonstrate that this solution significantly reduces the impact of sybil and flood attacks while maintaining a low power consumption profile and low computational overhead. The presence of lipids in wort and beer are important due to their influence on yeast metabolism and beer quality. Barley lipids have long been considered to have adverse effects on beer quality where some long-chain fatty acids are associated with high flavour potential. In addition, beer foam stability can be influenced by the concentration of lipids as well as other factors such as hop acids (e.g., iso-α-acids), proteins, polysaccharides and the presence of metal ions (e.g., nickel). Lipids can also influence yeast protease activity as well as the production of ethanol. This review provides an overview of the effect of climate change on the chemical composition of barley in relation to lipids and the influence of lipids in the process of this raw material in order to produce beer.

Classification of a series of Australian beers was performed using synchronous scanning fluorescence spectroscopy and emission-excitation matrices based on the IR fingerprint regions. The results indicate that synchronous scanning fluorescence spectroscopy is a robust and valuable method to discriminate between Australian lager beers based on their brand name. In addition, a subsequent spoiling study revealed that when beers are opened and stored at 4 °C for 4 weeks, the results demonstrated that the beers were not statistically different. The methods and techniques outlined may be of interest to brewing companies and microbrewers to determine the unique beer spectrum.

The high-speed optoelectronic memory system project is concerned with the reduction of latency within multiprocessor computer systems (a key problem) by the use of optoelectronics and associated packaging technologies. System demonstrators have been constructed to enable the evaluation of the technologies in terms of manufacturability. The system combines fiber, free space, and planar integrated optical waveguide technologies to augment the electronic memory and the processor components. Modeling and simulation techniques were developed toward the analysis and design of board-integrated waveguide transmission characteristics and optical interfacing. The high bandwidth available in optoelectronic interconnects is often suggested as making them suitable for use in high-performance computer systems. However, it will be shown that for problems where message sizes are small, the latency of an optoelectronic interprocessor interconnect will place a lower limit on the number of processors required to produce performance enhancement over a traditional electronic interconnect. Used the official records of all games played in the Western Hockey League (N=432) during a season for a Principal Components analysis of 19 aggressive penalties. Results suggested that inter-personal aggression in the sport is multiply determined and can arise for eight different sets of conditions or antecedents. (Author/LLL)

Randomly assigned 60 male undergraduates to view film clip of professional lady wrestlers or of mud wrestling, or to no-film control. Both films produced negative changes in mood states, principally increase in aggression and decrease in social affection. A common investigative task is to identify known contraband images on a device, which typically involves calculating cryptographic hashes for all the files on a disk and checking these against a database of known contraband. However, modern drives are now so large that it can take several hours just to read this data from the disk, and can contribute to the large investigative backlogs suffered by many law enforcement bodies. Digital forensic triage techniques may thus be used to prioritise evidence and effect faster investigation turnarounds. This paper proposes a new forensic triage method for investigating disk evidence relating to picture files, making use of centralised thumbnail caches that are present in the Windows operating system. Such centralised caches serve as a catalogue of images on the device, allowing for fast triage. This work includes a comprehensive analysis of the thumbnail variants across a range of windows operating systems, which causes difficulties when detecting contraband using cryptographic hash databases. A novel method for large-scale hash database generation is described which allows precalculated cryptographic hash databases to be built from arbitrary image sets for use in thumbnail contraband detection. This approach allows for cryptographic hashes to be generated for multiple Windows versions from the original source image, facilitating wider detection. Finally, a more exible approach is also proposed which makes novel use of perceptual hashing techniques, mitigating issues caused by the differences between thumbnails across Windows versions. A key contribution of this work demonstrates that by using new techniques, thumbnail caches can be used to robustly and effectively detect contraband in seconds, with processing times being largely independent of disk capacity.
